Biology is probably the hardest class i took here, but shes a great teacher. Lectures are long and kind of boring, but she makes it very clear for the tests. Lots of labs, but they will help your grade. She is a very nice teacher that that is very helpful if you are having trouble in the class.

Biology is not fun, but she made it pretty cool. I actually thought she was a great teacher. She's really straight-forward about what's on the tests. Lectures are boring and pretty long, but she's aware of that and usually gives a break in the middle. The labs are really helpful too. I recomend her.

This class is a hard class but, she makes it as easy as possable and she tries to make her class fun as bio can be. She is always willing to help with anything. I would reccomend her to anyone.

Renfree is a real cool teacher. Labs are not worth that many points but there are enough points for you to get at least a B. She makes the class fun and would help anyone out if you need it. The only shady thing is that there are quizes in the testing center which means you have to take some tests on your own time. She is very nice and Cool!!!

I hate any kind of science but i needed this class. she is a great teacher. she gives you notes on everything you need to know. but you do have to study hard and show up for all your labs they count alot but she helps alot too.

Excellent professor. I got an A. If you go to class and really study the powerpoints you will do well. I mean really study the powerpoints, every word. She is always willing to help you and will break things down if needed. Read the labs ahead of time, read the book chapters before you come to class. It was hard but a great class -just study!

I loved her! She MADE SURE u knew what u needed to. she was easi to listen to n gave plenti of relevant examples and cut the tension of class everi once in a while with sum random start of a convo. U need to studi..its doable to get an A..just got to put in the time..I LOVED RENFREE!!

She was an amazing professor and really knew what she was talking about. She lets you know everything you need. Make sure you print out the notes off Blackboard before each lecture, they really helped! The quizzes and tests were tough but she is always willing to help. Don't expect to slack off and do well because the material is very difficult.

great teacher, she is willing to sit with you for hours untill you understand, the tests and quizes are hard so study, alotttt. they are about 65 to 70 percent of your grade, give long extra credit. but overall great teacher, with one last thing, the tests and quizzes that we have to take in testing center is a bit too much!!!

OMG, she is one of the best teachers I have ever had. Microbiology would seem to be pretty hard, but she not only makes it easy to learn but makes it fun as well. Labs are super easy. She is very down to earth and very funny. Take her for Micro!!!!

She was amazing! I learned a lot and didn't have to study as much as I thought I would have to. If you attend lecture and pay attention you'll get it. Mrs. Renfree is awesome! I was never good at science but she made the material really interesting. If you want a fair shot at an A or a B then she is the teacher to take. You have plenty of xtra credit and there are no trick questions. Study her slides, always go to lab, and STUDY her study guide and you will at least get a B. She's hot too ; )

Advice to incoming students, Bio 119 isn't supposed to be easy easy, do her unit objectives ahead of time so you can basically study in advance. She's beautiful.

Instructor is receptive to all students including older ones and always makes time for questions and concerns. Instructor does expect students to arrive prepared to lab activities and while she will answer specific questions, she is not going to waste the entire classes time to save someone who is completely unprepared for lab. Overall, superb.

If you get a good group, science classes are fun. If you're stuck with some boring people you don't connect with, the classes WILL drag, I assure you. The content isn't particularly interesting to me, but my group mates and I all have fun and do our work together. Renfree is funny too, and an excellent instructor.

I LOVE MS. RENFREE SO MUCH she's such a mom and she's so funny and i hated biology so much in high school so her class was a breath of fresh air. yes it's gonna be some work at times, but she gives you ample time to do it and is always there for help. she puts all of her powerpoints online if you need them. i recommend getting the book for tests.

I absolutely fell in LOVE with Mrs. Renfree this semester, I had a really big family crisis occur early on and she was the only professor I had who completely worked with me the whole way through it. Her test are straight forward, she's hilarious, & extremely helpful especially if you don't understand what she's lecturing about.

Took her hybrid class. She definitely makes you work for it but she is an amazing teacher & is there for you. Great at responding to emails. DO THE HOMEWORK & THE OBJECTIVES. Professor Renfree is, BY FAR, one the best professors at MVCC. In addition to her knowledge, the joy that she finds in her work is simply contagious (and refreshing). She's down-to-earth and invests in her students' lives academically and personally. You need to stay on top of the material to be successful. But, you won't be disappointed.

The best professor Moraine Valley has. Toke her for both Bio 111 and Bio 119. She is extremely nice and a joyful person that is always there for all of her students. Very knowledgeable. I promise you won't be disappointed if you take her classes.

I took microbio over the summer, 8 week course, and Renfree was amazing. I would take her course again in a heartbeat. Took her for Bio 119 Hybrid class. Lecture power point online and labs in person. Great Powerpoint unreal how amazing they are, study them everyday. There were multiple exams so study a lot because once the train starts you better be seated and prepared. Shes great and will help if a student needs it. Labs are chill with music. Exams, must study!!

Tests are hard but with a hybrid course you can take a cheatsheet in with you, this made the hybrid a lot easier than expected. Always do extra credit!

She always reviews before every exam. She offers objectives for each unit due the day of the exam for 3 points extra cedit. Great lectures and easy notes. All assignments and notes are on canvas and organized. Always accepts late work. Really cares about you succeeding. Only annoying assignments are mastering biology. Overall great!! TAKE HER

Was a hybrid class so lab attendance was mandatory. Another great class! Labs were a lot of fun, and even though it was online she was very easy to be reached and left lots of good feedback. Used her ppts more than the book. Was a tough subject but her lecture notes helped a lot.

I adored Professor Refree! She is one of the sweetest and most personable professors I've ever had. A lot of lecturing and note taking, but she has an answer for any question you could possibly have and she puts all powerpoint slides up on Canvas.

A really great teacher! Her lecture really gets across to you, so reading from the book is not necessary. She posts great reviews on Canvas and is really lenient with turning in late work. She also updates grades same day as assignments are due. Lets you look over the answer key after you turn in your scan tron to compare your answers.

trust me on this one / if you are looking for a class to just not show up or study or pay attention at all this class is not for you. I dont pay attention all of the time, but i take the time to study for the study guides and that alone gave me an easy A. she lets you turn in assignments and labs whenever. such a sweetheart, take her if u can !!!!

I took this class as a hybrid. They also changed up the BIO course, making it tougher she mentioned. If you're someone who struggles with science, I'd take her class in person. She's nice, and tries her best to explain when we meet for in person labs. If taken in person maybe the class would be easier, but she is a good teacher.

I took this class online and it wasn't bad in my opinion. Her grading was clear from the beginning of the semester, however, the labs did drag. Just try to do them a couple days before Sunday (the due date).She lets you use a cheat sheet for every exam and she usually responded to emails quickly. I would recommend taking her if you need the credit.

Great Professor honestly. It was a hybrid class which was easy to navigate. Also do all the optional assignments to help boost your grade. Study guide objectives are exactly what is on the test.

This is the best bio teacher at this school. She will not let you fail, I handed her a lab and gave it back to me to fix several times before entering a grade. Lectures are amazing, she finds a way to use lessons in every day life. She is extremely understanding and makes an effort to get know know her students.

Renfree is super sweet and easy to talk to the only thing is just dont take a hybrid class like i did. It's much harder to learn the info on your own, but if you have her normally you should be okay. She will help you out and give any extra time you need.

Professor Renfree is amazing, the lecture was heavy but she do her best to make you get get the information. I recommend you to take her. Also, she's funny so you'll enjoy the class (:

She is a great professor. Took this as a hybrid, very hard class, you have to do all your homework, they really help your grade. The exams are 80+ questions, your grade relies on them. She gives extra credit and helps her best when we meet in labs. Watch the lecture videos, do all the homework including labs, and ask questions when you need help

This class definitely took up a lot of my time, the material itself is tricky but Professor Renfree is very clear on what she's looking for. She is also very accessible outside of class so be sure to ask questions. She offers a ton of extra credit that is time consuming but it's definitely worth it. Overall, she is extremely kind and helpful!
