Best Prof I have had so far at Mac. I wish he was a full-time professor in the business department :( If only I took 1AA3 with him, too.... ughh! His lectures are amazing and I really like it that he forbids us from using cellphones in class, haha :) It does indeed help us keep focused. I never fell asleep in his classes because he makes it fun

He is a great prof but the exams are tough. You either do well or you don't. He stresses class attendance because he knows you will fail if you do not attend. I think the exams are fair for those who attend class. I did alright on the course but because I missed a couple of classes that hurt my mark. He give lots of tips in classes.

This is my first semester at McMaster in DCP and I enjoyed this course the most. A lot of applications in the real world. Engineering specific examples would be awesome. Aadil is a great teacher. He treated all his students with respect and patience.

Hands down the best professor I've ever had. Knows exactly what hes doing. Its not the easiest class, but he pushes you to do well and gives you all the resources you'll need to get a 12. He's outright said attending class isn't necessary to do well, but he's such a great teacher you'll want to go to every single one.

He does many examples in lecture and explains different ways to solve the problem, catering to different learning styles. If you go to lecture he'll give you hints about what will be on the midterms and exam. The lectures are amazing.

Good sense of humour, very informative and is not personally difficult. He knows what he's talking about, very cocky( but very funny about it). Replies to your emails in less than 10 minutes and gives you a personal grade on your tests at any point in the day (emailed me at 9pm).

Best prof I've had so far. He is a funny personable guy who also knows what he is talking about. He encourages that you take it easy every one in a while ans stop worrying about school. Aadil is awesome!

He spoke about the learning portfolio in class and he said that sometimes students dont give enough credit for stuff they do. It was so true and it was so encouraging to hear examples of stuff students do and they dont document it anywhere and how the learning portfolio can help to do so. He was so encouraging in class.

Great prof but I don't get why we need to learn accounting. This prof would be better placed teaching technical courses. He has an Engineering background. He is wasting his skills on accounting.

Met with me weekly and prepared a study plan for me. Followed through with me and made sure I was keeping up. I have failed this course before and would fail it again if it was not for his dedication to the lesson plan.

I really liked the professor and class the most. The only downside was that sometimes the professor would engage with students who asked d umb questions such as not understanding grading schemes and mark breakdown or questions that had been just answered. This wasted time for other students. The prof. should dismiss such silly questions.

I found the second half of the course more interesting. The first part on statements was pretty intense for four weeks. I liked variance the most from last class. I had a bad feeling about this course going in but the prof quickly changed my mind after the first class.

Oh man I am graduating from McMaster (my final semester of Commerce) and I realize how much this prof was the greatest prof I had. I had him for half of 2AA3 and 2AB3 back in Fall 2013 and Winter 2016. I feel like going into one of hias 1AA3 lectures this term to relive it. Definitely the best course that I have taken. He is passionate about the material and cares about our success. He is approachable and encourages us to talk to him. He encourages us to understand the material and directs us to sources to get a deeper understanding. I hope to see him teach some of my future courses.

Real world examples were helpful in understanding the material. Approachable professor and explains course content well. Class time is used effectively and I felt like I learned so much from him. He is quite funny too.

I can only thank god that he took over this course midway and saved it. I almost dropped it if he hadn't taken it over.

AMJ is one of my best profs in BTech. I just wish this class was not online. It was smart to bring him in midway.

The professor was excellent. I liked how he would interact casually even in an online class. I liked having lots of practice questions available to us. The lectres were helpful in learning key concepts because he would related what we were learning to real life examples. He was also quite funny at times.

The summarized notes (transcripts as he calls them) are the best I have ever seen. All profs should produce these.

He is the best prof I had at mac. gives you a lot of real examples in the real business world. I hate classes that are only based on theory and I can not relate them to a real situation. I learned a lot about my future business either in accounting or any other field of management and commerce.

AMJ is a great prof. He made the commute from Toronto worthwhile. The classes were enjoyable, but a little long. Sometimes, he used the full 3 hours which is tiring after a long day at work but he always kept our attention.

Goes above and beyond his job description and really cares about the success of his students. Also gives lots of hints about what content is most important for exams.

Had Professor. Merali for my first year COMMERCE 1AA3 course and had an amazing experience. The lecture's were very informative yet kept me interested (keep in mind I plan to major in accounting), Prof. Merali was very caring about students, and the weekly quizzes and finals were very fair. Lecture's aren't mandatory but I recommend going.

I recently saw Professor Jumaa on campus and thought back to my first year. There are very few people like him that care as much and go the extra mile. I highly recommend this professor. Take a course with him if you can.

Love the way he teaches, the perfect class notes, recordings, and most of all, the real life examples he uses to explain concepts. I might forget finsys but not the examples and the learning from it.

If you have the opportunity to take Comm1AA3 with Aadil, dont miss it. The lectures are heavy and lots of content, but he makes them worth it, and explains everything very throughly. Dont skip the lectures, youll do a lot better in the course if you go. The exams were hard; but he prepares you for them.

Professor Juma explained the content really well and realted the content to application through sharing examples of his experience in his work in Kenya and in franchising. He is passionate about what he teaches and is also very reasonable in expectations. He gives lots of resources to students, however, it is hard to find time to go through it all

Godsent Prof. I used to hate the concept of accounting, that is why I've never taken one in highschool. When I was forced to take one in undergrad, I nearly failed because I found it too artificial as someone with a physical science background. This was my best online class at DeGroote. He almost simulated a real in person class with the discussions and mandatory attendance. The course material is heavy and he provided the resources to do well.

Professor Meralis accounting class is my favorite online class this semester. I like the tophat questions and I like how he explains the solutions. I get most questions correct but I still find the answer explanations useful. If you read this comment please continue your teaching style and thank you.

He is putting so much effort into online class - the whiteboards and the explanations. he is very helpful during office hours and kind too. He is funny too though I think most people don't get his jokes. Must take a class with him if given the opportunity.

Mr. Merali was well prepared for class and explained the top hat questions in great detail. He used the questions to teach the concepts which quite frankly cannot be self taught using the flipped format

I wish I had done better on the course. Both profs were very flexible in the opportunities given with the makeup midterm and curve and optional final. I would recommend getting rid of so many weekly online quizzes and giving a makeup midterm 2 instead of the curve.

Will answer any questions you have, it is super easy to ask him a question, and he will always respond relatively quickly. Accounting isn't easy, but Merali definitely made the course enjoyable.

Prof Aadil always responds to all questions. No question is too small. And he responds very fast to my emails even late at night or early morning.

I had him in 1aa3 and now again in 4aa3. I can still say that he is the best prof i have ever had. i had to fight to be in his section and it was worth it. he shares relevant industry experience. i cannot imagine who would say in the stop and go that this method needs to be stopped. keep doing what you do :)

He is the best prof at McMaster. You can see from the very first lecture that he cares about his students. Just pay attention in class and do the homework assignments along with the previous test papers and you'll do well in this course. He curved our grade and gave us a make-up midterm, would love to take another class with him in the future!

He was a great professor, he wanted his students to do well. He tried to help in every way possible, willing to help after class and in exam season. The videos posted were helpful but didn't have all the content that was required for the mylabs, would recommend reading the etext aswell. He would explain the whole unit after mylab was done

He's a good teacher, the issue was his course is set up is terrible in my opinion. Every week there's a quiz due on sunday you have to do. The issue is that the quiz is for content that you learn the next week, meaning you have to completely teach yourself in order to do quiz, making the lectures rather pointless.

I like the format of the class. The flipped format "forced" me to come prepared to class. However, we did have material posted to help us prepare for the material like the videos, past exams, and tutorials. I like how we do actual questions in class on Top Hat. Keep up the good work.

Professor Juma is the best professor anyone can have. Initially, I disliked the fact that we had to read the textbook prior to class, but it helped me understand concepts more. I also enjoyed the in class top hat questions he did as it helped solidify what we learned in class. The midterm was very fair as well and he's just a great prof. 10/10.

Mr. Merali's class was the most challenging this semester but it is also the only class I attended. He was polite with students, gave more time on Top Hat even if only 1 or 2 students needed it and was overall polite to us addressing us and sir and madam unless he knew the names which surprisingly he did of a few students. Learnt a lot by attending

this professor really wants students to succeed. Excellent in a course as difficult as accounting.

The course is really tough. Do not underestimate it. But Professor Juma is a wonderful human being. He cares genuinely and teaches with passion. He stays behind after class to answer questions and never rushes me. He tries to accomodate all of us by asking us all the time if we have questions and waits to actually see if we do have questions.

Professor Merali made a difficult course into one that was much more tolerable. The content is difficult, but he explained it well in the lectures and was always available to help students. He may seem tough at first but as you go to class you can tell he genuinely cares about his students.

I had him for my first semester for the 2022 and 2023 year. He was an amazing professor who loves helping out his students and was always willing to chat about any topics we asked him about. AMJ is the most charismatic prof I've had so far. The first day he tries to scare the living crap out of you by saying this course is so difficult blah blah blah, and to drop it if it's an elective. DON'T BE SCARED. He's such a sweetheart and I think he does want his students to succeed. Read the textbook and do the exam practice and you're good.

Professor Aadil Juma Merali was the best professor I had, in the term I had him. I think there are very few professors at the university level that care about each individual student as much as he does. He is humble, respectful, kind and fair. If you show respect, it will be returned to you. The course is content heavy, but his lectures help a lot.

Prof Merali is easily the best prof at Mac. He cares about every single one of his students and wants everyone to succeed, and will do everything he can possibly do in his power to ensure success. While his courses, especially his first year course, get a bad reputation because it's accounting, he does a really good job of making it enjoyable.

The class content is tough but Prof. Merali is fair. He teaches the content well and relates it to his work so the examples relate to what he teaches.

I feel all chapters were relevant to learn except process costing, maybe. Maybe too many chapters in one course. But Prof. Merali did justice by doing questions with us in class and relating to real life examples from his past experience. It is this aspect that I loved about the course. The real life examples.

Easily the best accounting prof at mac. Teaches everything you would need to know for the exams. In my section he used a lot of tophat questions for exams so definitely go through those for the midterm and final.

Aadil is the GOAT of accounting. I loved the course; he made it enjoyable and engaging. Read the chapter and you don't need to go to the lectures, just the tophat class. Tophat is super engaging and the questions are great prep for tests, (tests were not too difficult).

An excellent professor with engaging lectures and fair exams. He's very helpful but beware of using TopHat outside class. He sets a fake question during a lecture and warns students in class not to answer. Those outside of class did answer and got an academic dishonesty letter and a 10% grade penalty. Great prof overall!

As a second year student, Aadil is no doubt the best prof I've had at Mac so far. Clearly loves what he's teaching as the lectures are super engaging and really made accounting seem interesting. Also has a great personality and is great at helping you with questions outside of lecture.

I went into Accounting for first year just wanting to get it over with because I took it in grades 11 and 12 and didn't enjoy it, but professor Juma changed my mind. At first, I wanted to go into finance but the way he shows passion in his lectures makes accounting a future I could potentially pursue. If you read the textbook, you'll be fine.

Great professor! Had him for 1AA3 and 4AA3. His classes are super informative. The best part about his lectures is the real life examples he gives. Those simple examples help students connect with the content. Extremely fair marker! Also, I have seen him go above and beyond to ensure his students success. He is always helping out in clubs too.

ONE OF THE BEST PROFF AT MAC. Do not skip the class, make sure to understand course content, indeed Aadil is a great guy. It is hard course but once you pay attention and do the work you will be good and also he posts alot of course related stuff like lecture videos, top hat questions which help in test and exams.

Decided to teach differently from the textbook, as he pointed out the publisher the lead instructor chose was not approved by CPA. Despite this, his methods often worked better than the textbooks, and his instructions were clearer and were explained better. He answered questions with clarity and respect was easily accessible outside of class.

hes really great i just think the course itself is difficult but the mylabs and tophat can really benefit your grade. go to lectures for tophat! he simplifies concepts and cares about his students just the midterm was difficult. I felt much much better for the final tho. go to that exam review session at the end! know your stuff and youll be good:)

Dr. Aadil is great guy, very accessible, always answers you question even if it's not related to the course. Make sure to go the lecture and DO NOT DO TOPHAT OUTSIDE of the class. The mylab and tophat is grade saviour. The midterm was hard but thank GOD final was easy litreally all questions were from tophat and past exam. Overall great professor.
