I took his 3-week course. The class is easy, but be sure to keep up with the deadlines as all the course materials except for the final open on the first day, so if you miss the deadline you cannot make it up. He offers up to 4% extra credit to your overall grade. Be sure to take detailed notes (quizzes include specific points from the lectures).
This class was very easy for a 3 week mini mester, he gives us quizzes and 4 packback discussions and as long as you dont fall behind, you will get a good grade, take him!
I really enjoyed Professor Alon's lectures. The 3 week mini-mester was perfect for Music Appreciation. I would definitely take any of his classes again!
Taken a May Mini-mester online. Guidelines are clear, absolutely no late grades accepted so keep that in mind. Pretty chill class altogether.
Good professor ! Very easy class enjoyed it all.
Great professor, has clear expectations, especially for the discussion posts. I took his 3-week online class, and everything was organized by unit. Would recommend taking him for this class!
This course is fairly easy. Just do all the assignments and you will do great.
I took the three-week class and it really wasn't bad at all. Professor Alon provided us with a schedule of all the assignments and when they were due, was very clear about what he wanted, and he gave us slideshows to study for the test. The lectures were interesting and I feel like I learned a lot about music! Great class; I definitely recommend.
Great professor- easy to understand syllabus and is always available when needed.
Professor Alon was a really good teacher. There was very little work, the instructions and cue dates were clear and consistent, and it was easy. It is an easy A as long as you do the work. I definitely recommend.
This class is simple. It's pretty easy going and he has most things open and available, if you are a parent and need to get things done ahead of time, this is the class for you. He offers extra credit, and quizzes are easy.
Very interesting and fun class, I do recommend.
Great professor. A very simple and interesting class.
This class was very clear cut. Professor Alon was responsive and very helpful when I needed clarification or had questions. Would recommend this class and professor.
discussion are rough but if you do them you will most likely pass the class. tests are easy.
Class was easy. All the work is self explanatory, easiest class i've taken. If you fail it's because your being lazy or and turning in your work.
The class was very interesting. I didn't know much about music, but I felt I needed to know something in order to do well in this class. The discussion board was the most challenging part of this class.
This class was very interesting to me, the way that Professor Alon gave his lectures had me engaged and interested in what he was teaching. He helps out a lot when it came to quizzes and exams. I am very glad I chose him as my professor!
very great and breaking down material and making it interesting. I took his 8 week course and the work load wasn't to heavy. The lecture videos are a bit lengthy but he breaks down everything really well and majority of what's gone over in the video will be on the quizzes.
Great professor! He really knows how to make the material interesting and easy to follow. I took his 8-week course, and the workload was nog too heavy. and I'd definitely take him again.
Class was very easy and interesting! Professor provides videos to watch as lessons instead of boring readings. Take this teacher you will not regret it! Just make sure you stay on top of your work and you will be fine.
He is a very good professor who provides helpful notes and videos for the course.
Good Professor. He is responsive via email and gives extra credit for attending concerts.
Opens the entire course from the beginning. Gives 3% total of extra credit, and may curve entire quiz grade if needed if whole class does bad, which they shouldn't cause they are easy. He doesn't open anything late, though. Just do the work early, and you'll be fine.
Doesn't accept late work, unforgiving.
no late work
Great class.
I took the eight-week course for MUSI 1306. He has very few assignments, so you don't have to stress as much, but it also means that each one is important to complete. No late submissions are accepted, but every assignment is open from the beginning of the course.
A lot of work in a 8 week class.
Professor Alon was phenomenal. This class was very enjoyable and the discussions were great. Some quizzes can be a little difficult at times but they're very simple if you read the given texts. He was great with communication and made sure every student did great, 10/10 would take his class again.
He is a knowledgeable professor, he is accessible, and he gives good feedback.
Dr. Alon has shown that he really does love sharing his passion for music and learning about music. I've learned so many new techniques that I'll be able to use outside of Theory and in my music career. Participation allowed me to really understand how to apply what we've learned, and to compare on contrast with my peers.
I've had Aaron Alon as a Professor since 2022, and I want to say that he's an amazing Professor and has been an invaluable help throughout My Music Theory Studies. A prime example of this would be that during the summer, he went out of his way to help me prepare for Music Theory III. And I'm very grateful for him as a Professor.
Prof Alon was great. You can tell he loves what he does. He gives a decent amount of work and allows you ample amount of time to comment assignments. Test can be difficult if you don't study so study and know your genres.
Dr. Alon is an excellent professor. He is very passionate about teaching music. He is very open to answering questions about homework and quizzes through email, and is very clear in his explanations. He is always very encouraging in his feedback on homework and exams. I look forward to taking Music Theory with him again next semester.
The professor explains things very clearly and he only requires that you submit your assignments before the due date, which is not hard as plenty of time is given for each. The class can be a bit challenging if you are not at all familiar with musical terms but it is still very doable as long as you study consistently.
Dr. Alon has been one of the most wonderful professors I've had to date! He gave us tons of helpful resources to help us understand the different topics, and opts to not use a textbook and instead creates interactive video lectures and PowerPoints that we can access even outside of class. He also does tutoring sessions over Zoom.
He is a very interesting person.
Everything is straightforward and easy to manage.
The video lessons he had were very clear and easy to understand. The only challenging part of the class was the packback discussions. I honestly never got the hang of asking the questions properly which sucked since they're worth 1/3 of the class average. Other than that he the class went by smoothly with no problems!!
Very good class for someone who wants to get the credits. You will know lot more about music when you are finished!
Easy enough class
Amazing professor, I took him online for a winter mini-mester for music 1306. Has everything open for you in case you want to do everything at once. 10/10 would take him again recommened!
Professor Alon is a great instructor who explains material clearly and knows his subject well. His grading criteria are straightforward, and his feedback is helpful and fair. Participation is encouraged in a positive way, and the workload is reasonable. He is approachable and respectful. I would take his class again.
Class had good organization and not many assignments and quizzes. Personally, I struggled a lot with the discussion section, there is AI involved in evaluating, so I had to adapt my genuine thoughts to it, and I even lost interest for feel frustration dealing with it. Lessons are videos, but without prior music knowledge it is hard to understand.
Great professor. Keeps things interesting in lectures. Stay on schedule or slightly ahead and will do well in the course. Offers extra credit opportunities.
The professor is clear in all lectures and makes them easy to follow. The syllabus is self-explanatory and provides all due dates, and the professor also sends reminders.
Professor Alon is fantastic. I was told that the MUSC1306 class is usually scary for those who don't major in music. But he made this class go really smoothly and reasonably. His course is organized neatly; there are 3 quizzes,4 discussions on Packback, and 1 final exam. As long as you watch the lessons that he posts, everything will be alright.
Keep track of all assignments if you do youll get an A
His online class was very well set up, and the lectures were very interesting. He gives you all the resources you need to succeed.
