He is such a great teacher and a great guy. He is very helpful and intelligent. I suggest everyone take World Civ 2 with him and not the other teachers. He is very interesting and does not require too much work. My favorite teacher at UTC.
What do you get when you mix superior knowledge, a passion for learning and Stunning Good Looks? Aaron Althouse. OUCH!! TOO HOT TO HANDLE! Teachers like Althouse don't stay at UTC long. His wife ain't bad either.
He looks good!!!
Awesome professor! I would definitely recommend taking 104 with him if you have a chance. He knows his stuff and makes history (even the more boring parts) interesting. Doesn't hurt that he's a good-lookin one either...
Very articulate, funny, and most importantly is able to communicate his knowledge to the class in a clear and concise manner. I would reccomend him to anyone- even people who don't dig history.
Wonderful teacher.
Wonderful and interesting, and most importantly, interested. Fun to talk to and very nice.
great teacher and he does not stress you out as a student the work is fair
great teacher, knows his stuff. only 3 tests that consist of one or two essays which does make it difficult in a sence. and being that the wc books are usless, one must study pretty much all the notes to make a "A" on the test.
Very understanding and an awesome teacher.
Great teacher!
Althouse is a great teacher and is not bad looking either. Take him for your world civ classes-he knows his stuff and is totally willing to help you if you need it.
Easy tests, good lectures, and hot. Don't take anyone else.
Great teacher, definately take him
he will keep you awake
Really fun class.
Makes a boring subject a little more interesting. Tests are tough to get an A on.
HE IS EASY IN CLASS AND ON HIS TESTS AND HE IS EASY ON THE EYES TOO!!! TAKE HIM HE IS AWESOME!! I GOT AN A AND I HATE HISTORY!!
One of the finest men I have ever met.
He was great...super nice and always keeping students into the material...easy tests and overall awesome professor...TAKE HIM!!! you won't regret it...gotta love a teacher who cares about his students :)
Great
Great teacher, but you take notes the whole class. He's fun!!
He is the best professor on campus. All on campus should bow to his superior knowledge and UTC should build a gold statue of him for all to see!

take the seminar... the only grade is a paper at the end of the semester, and the readings and conversations and films he chose are wonderful. Great teacher.
this guy has no idea what he is talking about. If you ask me the university should consider him... well..... history! hahahahahahahah. lmfao. Get it? Actually, he is a pretty killer guy and an overall pretty easy-goin' dude. I think he polishes his shoes as well, which is a plus.

Althouse is very helpful. He is also really clear in what he teaches. He doesn't make you memorize dates and such...which is great because that helps you learn the actual history, not just the dates that you'll forget as soon as you finish the test. He's awesome!!!
very good
this dude is awesome. he is really easy going and a cool history teacher. he is laid back and as long as you go to class you will do good in his class.
Wow! He has the most gorgeous eyes and smile. I don't even like history, but I will be in one of his classes again next semester just so I can stare at him. YUMMY!
Cool, class and good teacher... Just go to class
great teacher. Helpful, knows his stuff. Kind of funny. Cute guy too.

Great teacher. Go to class and do the reading. Very helpful outside of class and knows his stuff. Good sense of humor and enjoy talking about reality tv shows and college sports.
Although I am struggling to pull a C in his class, I think that Althouse is one of the best history teachers on campus. Very clear with what he wants you to know and very helpful when asked questions. The only reason I am struggling is because I just plain hate history and find it hard to memorize the notes.
He is smart, funny, and hot.
Mr. Althouse is the finest professor a college student can ask for. As far as his class, its a lot of notes but if you study and get a general idea for the essay you'll be good.
Good teacher who made a class I had to take interesting. A little tough on the essay.. Just understand the concepts of the notes in class and books
I like the fact that he is always prepared for class. He's very energetic and the fact that he's cute also helps. His level of enthusiasm is contagious, he's fun and he's very clear on what he's talking about. He is one of the best teachers I've ever gotten. Explains everything, helpful, n etc...I seriously recommend him.
Great teacher. I would recommend him to anyone that has to take world civ.
Articulates lectures well. Makes the material as palatable as possible. I would take him again.
Professor Althouse rocks! He is very nice and funny. He knows how to connect to students. Even if you don't go to class everyday, he still gives you the benefit of a doubt that you can do well in his class, unlike most of UTC's staff.
Good teacher and funny. The class has a lot of material and the test came straight from his notes. I never even opened my book.
Energetic professor. Sometimes I got the impression he would rather be teaching anything but Western Civilization, but really seemed to enjoy teaching his specialty when it came up, which is Latin America. His study guides are basically an outline of the topics he covers. I'll say this, most of the stuff on the study guide will be on the exam.
So easy I never even read the book. Just come for lecture and you know what on the test. He is so nice and approachable.
This year Mr. Althouse changed the book that he used in former class so Im just warning you. He's a pretty good teacher and he's nice. I give the advice of just know the identifications and read!!! the books. Its seemed like in former semesters you didnt have to but you must. He took so much from the books that it was crazy. I'd say take him!!!
He's a good teacher but you have to read the book to do well on the tests. The lecture notes aren't enough to get you through. He expects a lot of detailed information on the essays and IDs. If you're looking for an easy A though, pick another professor.
Dr. Althouse is an extremely nice man. His lectures are clear and concise. Also, he doesn't speed through them like other professors in the department. I made an A in the course. I had to read and tie in the notes with the book! Generally studied for four or five hours before the exam and did well! Tests are two IDs and one essay.
He is a great teacher and really knows how to connect with the students. He takes time to be sure everyone understands what he is discussing.
He is PERFECT!!!
he is absolutely gorgeous... besides making history an interesting class you will sit there and drool over him when he teaches.
I had Dr. Althouse for the Traditions of Latin America, which is a University Honors class. Our grade consisted of three papers and class discussion based off of a few books and scholarly journal articles. He is an awesome instructor and I encourage anyone to take him for any class. I got an A in his class.
He's okay. Nice to look at, but seemed scattered two out of three lectures of the week. He really knows his stuff but asks you to know very broad topics for the test and a lot of IDs.
Had him for a gen ed class and the fact that I love history and am majoring in it helps. Had to read some of the book and his study guides were very broad for a gen ed course. Still made an A though. Very knowledgeable overall although he will sometimes remind the class that hes sorry the material might not be that interesting but a great teacher.
He is okay. He explains everything pretty well. Handwriting can be tough to decipher at times but he will correct it. Test are very broad but he does give study guides which are also broad. Does not use powerpoint or blackboard which is frustrating. Discussions are mandatory but extremely boring , dry and rarely helpful.
Dr.A is the funniest professor i have ever had and is also a really nice guy. You will read much, but just do about half of what he assigns and you should end up with a B. There is no strict curriculum;he doesn?t think it helps his student learn.I think any history major would enjoy him because he favors them.He is young and hip and not burned out.
Very nice guy, funny in class, but very general about everything. Study guides for tests are very long and not in study guide form. Tests are hard because they are one essay and two ID's. READ THE ID'S! Grades hard on the essays. A gen ed 100 level class shouldn't be this hard but if you read the textbook & understand broad ideas you will be fine.
Great guy and professor. Had him for 104 and decided to take an upper level class from him. Seems more enthusiastic in an upper level course compared to when I had him in World Civ II. Grade consisted of two papers and class discussion. Read the books! Made an A; highly recommended.
Enthusiastic, fun, laid back, and nice. Everyone who has to take history should at least take one class from him. He's also not too strict.
Too Sexy! Seriously, he is the best. I've never had a professor so good at showing patterns and trends, which is what really matters in history. He helps you to really understand everything as a whole; he connects it all together. And what a super nice guy! Unlike other profs, he is very humble and admits he doesn't know everything. He really cares
Totally cool dude. I liked him a lot. I wish I could have him for other stuff. No interest in world civ at all and still got an A. It helps to get to know him and talk to him after class. I got a lot of inside info including what essay will be used. Study guides help a lot. Just prepare for the ID's and know the general stuff and you're golden.
Great teacher! And a cutie. He gives essays on tests, but if you study your notes and take good ones you'll be okay! Oh, and you MUST read/understand the primary sources he gives! Definitely take him for sure! Attendance is not necessary for his class.
Took the Latin America 2 History class. typical "liberal" teacher in that one is never really sure what you are expected to learn, what is really important, and deadlines are movable with the right sad story. outlines, themes, etc would be a good tool. i felt that i was just enjoying the material AFTER the final. however, still made an A.
Dr. Althouse is easily one of the best professors in the whole history department! Not only does he know his subject material well, but he also really cares about his students. Combine this with his clear teaching methods, one would have to be a fool not to take a class from him. Grade consisted of a couple of papers and discussion.
Amazing!! Taught superbly. I know far more than I did before the class. Knows what is important to teach. Uses varied teaching techniques. Intelligent. Fun. Creative. Brilliant passion for History. Take his class!! :-)
Lost of concepts, first test was difficult, gets easier as you understand his manner of teaching. Good at the big tides in history. Very funny.
Excellent Professor!!! Highly recommend, his lectures were clear and interesting. He genuinely wants you to succeed. I wish he taught all of the World Civ level classes.
Althouse is awesome! You do have to attend class, but he is interesting to listen to and clear about his topics. He is also not bad to look at. You do have to read the primary sources for the essay test, but reading the textbook isn't really necessary.
He is a great lecturer and can be very funny. You MUST read primary sources and understand concepts. 3 grades the entire semester. First two essays are 25% each and the final is two essays being 50% of your final grade. See him during office hours.. he wants you to succeed. Easy C. Must work for B or A.
Really clear on lectures. Requires alot of detail on the essay questions for his test. Overall, not a bad teacher, but does get off topic sometimes.
His notes are kind of scattered and there are only two tests and a final in the entire semester so there is not a lot of room for error in the class.
Easy enough class if you read the book. Lectures are dull and he only covers the general details of each topic, you will have to read the text to really know the stuff for the test. Only 2 tests plus the final, and they're short- 30 questions, multiple choice and truefalse. He lectures in the auditorium and refuses to use a mic, so sit up front.
I took this class because everyone had given good feedback. His notes make absolutely new sense and do not relate to the book or test at all. If you want a good grade I highly recommend taking this online, but whatever you do DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER!!
Going to class is essential for passing his class, even though he doesn't grade attendance. A vast majority of the info on the tests is from the lecture, NOT from the textbook. Use book for glossary of terms. Also, take really good notes, because he will occasionally throw curve-ball questions on the test. Only three exams and no homework.
You have to go to class to do well. A lot of the test questions come from lecture notes. Tests are simple multiple choice, ID, and truefalse. Take good notes and read the textbook before each test so you really understand the material, not just memorization of terms. Only 3 tests, no other grades.
Althouse is a great professor, he gives great, clear notes and very accurate study guides. Super chill. The only thing that I don't like about his class is that the only grades are exams. They're pretty clear-cut, but still if you do crappy on one you're basically SOL. At least make attendance a bonus or something....I highly recommend Althouse
the only grades taken for the class are three test, they come straight from the notes and aren't that hard. I would recommend taking him, his super nice and will give you lots of help if you go to his office hours!
Really hard to follow and the class is all lecture based. If it werent for the textbook I probably wouldnt have passed. His tests are based on the text but he wont tell you that! Lectures dont help at all, not clear thought path. Really boring. Would NOT take again.
Professor Althouse only has three tests including the final, so its crucial that you do well on them. Attendance isnt mandatory but all his test questions are based on his lectures so you should go as often as you can. Overall he's a really nice guy and the class is fairly easy if you show up.
Class is pretty easy! After the first test I didn't go to class besides the day before the test and test day. He sends out a exam review the week of the test and that helps a lot. You only have 3 test and the first 2 are worth 25% each and the final was worth 50 %.
Althouse is a decent professor. Throughout the entire semester, there are only three exams, the first two being 25% of your grade, and the final making up the other 50%. The test come straight from the lectures, so as long as you pay attention you should be fine.
He is awesome. Very very easy. Very approachable and a great lecturer. Three exams make up the grading and if you learn the study guide you will never get below a 90.
He is amazing!Wish all Gen ed lecturers are like him. 2 exams each is 25% and final is worth 50%. He gives a study guide and the exam is same exact as his study guide. His lectures are awesome as well makes everything so simple.
