He's totally amazing. It doesn't feel like a lecture. It's like having a story told to you. History was my worst subject in high school, but then I took Mr. Berkowitz's class and it's now my favorite subject. It challenges me, but in a good way. I don't feel overwhelmed. He's made this subject enjoyable, I recommend him for anyone taking history.
totally awesome guy. made history interesting. keep doin what you do.
I was really dreading taking this class thinking it would be a lot of boring memorizing of facts and dates. Mr. Berkowitz has proven me wrong:) He had made class fun and enjoyable.
great teacher really funny
Really cool guy! I enjoy coming to his class every Tuesday and Thursday morning.
Never a dull moment, great guy with great personality. Oh yah, hot, that hair drives me crazy!
Is VERY enthusiastic about the subject and gives great lectures and has a wealth of knowledge on the subject
Love his class and have learned alot. His teaching style keeps the class interested in the subject and on your toes
Excellent teacher, is a very down to earth person. Very willing to help, encourages class participation and is very good at answering questions.
Excellent teacher...kudos to LLCC for getting him
Aaron is the most radical dude around! Always keeps our attention with his energy for the subject. I wish him and his sexy hair instructed all of my courses.
Great prof
I no longer hate history! Amazing prof!
He is the coolest guy around. Not only as a professor but as a person. His class is awesome. His hair, mesmerizing. He always keeps you entertained, whether talking about anal cleansing, or blinding himself with the overhead projector. Really understanding. So much more I could say but im only allowed 350 characters. In short, this guy kicks ass :D
RULEZ
Has really made history interesting. I was completely dreading taking this class and Aaron has made it much more enjoyable.
He rocks! He reminds me of **** daddy cane, but with out the cane, just awesomeness
Great!
Fun class, enthusiastic teacher. Learned a lot actually!! But, be prepared to do a good amount of work!
The coolest teacher i have this semester. Makes it a fun class. Nice little talk about a donkey today. Have a great summer
Mr.Berkowitz is a great teacher! He keeps you very interested in the class. Anybody can do good in this class as long as you pay attention and do the work!
ballin'
Yes he is interesting and funny, but if you want a good grade avoid him at all costs!!! Beware, the work load is like a 300-400 level course.
I had this teacher last semester and he was awsome!! I heart history!! :)
This was by far the best history class i ever took in college!!!!
He is a great teacher and if you need help he is willingly to work with you. Great teacher, and I LOVE his hair!!
i like you style...not sure what it is and i don't think he does either but it's good
This professor gives lots of extra credit opportunities and is very kind in grading essays. His sweet demeanor and enthusiasm for his subject encourages the class to stay engaged in the discussions.
Very interesting and entertaining. Really into the subject.
Amazing professor!!! I would recommend taking his night classes, mainly because his dreamy eyes and ravishing strains of hair help me sleep at night. I wonder what kind of conditioner he uses?
This professor kept my interest throughout the whole sememster. He has a profound passion for teaching and helps his students every inch of the way. Way to go Professor!!
really cool teacher.. i would recommend him to anyone.. didnt have to take alot of notes and tests are essays and you have a few days to do it.. also theres like 300 possible extra credit points =]
Mr.Berkowitz is a great teacher and is very experienced at his trade. You can ask him anything and is willing to always help. He wasnt just a teacher he made he made you feel like you had a friend also. Ty Mr.Berkowitz for a great monday night class! PE
I would strongly recommend him for Western Civ. He demonstrates an abundance of enthusiasm and insightfulness.
Took class online. Very knowledgable and passionate about what he does but expects waaay too much from an entry level class. Don't take online class.
He is the smartest person under the age of thirty that can actually repeat in a lively manner continually for 4 hours without forgetting or studdering once.
Good teacher very helpful if you hate history like me then take history at llcc with berkowitz he makes it impossible to fail
My favorite professor I have ever had at LLCC. Period. I will be graduating this spring as well. Take any of his classes if you love history!
Awesome teacher!
Makes history into a soap opera with many weird stories of famous people from the past. Very entertaining
Professor made me excited about Western Civ. to the point it was my favorite class this semester. I never really liked history before Berkowitz. I highly recommend his classes, he keeps them exciting while still teaching the contentent needed to pass the course.
Beware of his online class. Extremely difficult.
An absolutely awesome teacher. He is one the smartest people I have ever met. He has a passion for his subject and is the only person I have taken that during a 4 hour class keeps it interesting the entire time. He also is really hot. I always look forward to going to his class as listening to him talk. I love everything about him.
I had this professor for my online class and I can honestly say he was useless, uninterested, unhelpful and unavailable. Perhaps he is extremely busy with other classes he teaches, but he shouldn't be teaching online classes if he can't handle the workload.
Took this online. Pros: He is nice, responds to questions. Cons:Does not grade your work and gives limited feedback on how you are doing. VERY frustrating, I almost wrote the dean. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND. There are no actual quizzes or tests. Just writing essay like things that HE DOES NOT GRADE. (ok he does just not often)
One of the best professor's in the field. His tests and quizzes are all essay based which means that you can give your interpretation about what answer you think is correct and he will weigh the pros and cons. Very fair grading.
Great Professor, loved the class, He made it very interesting. 5 stars
Online class. No midterm or final. Discussion boards 2 post/per day for 5 days-lots of weight put on these. One paper on a secondary reader 4-6 pages. Great teacher, has concrete goals. You will be surprised at how much you learn.
One of the best, most interesting teachers at Lincoln Land.
love his perspective and makes history FUN!
This class had a heavy workload. 6 discussion board posts, weekly project, journal, and a test every week. Then something happened and now theres no tests, every other week project, 6 d boards a week, and a term paper. Journal supposed to have 5 entries but had 3. So hard class turned easy!
Great teacher. Has a fantastic way of telling stories to bring history to life in an entertaining way. Lots of movie days (interesting films/clips too). Show up, participate in discussion, creative project up to you and a take home midterm and final. I would take him again given the chance!
This guy was awesome! He is really funny and has a great personality. He did cancel class a lot and he let class out early very often. I wish he was a little more assertive in class though, there was a kid that would not shut up and would talk over him and he didnt really do anything about it. Other than that he was awesome!
He has a lot of work for the class but as long as you show interest the work it is easy. I am a book worm so his novel for the class was great for me. TAKE HIS CLASS. Great for an elective as well.
Pretty good teacher. Class was always entertaining and held interest. Little use in the textbook; there was a novel as well that we did use. Creative project allowed us to do whatever we wanted. Easy class if you just do the few things he asks; he's really laid back about it. I really enjoyed his lectures though. Would love to take him again.
He is a great teacher I like history and this man made me love it, I have learned so much more than I ever thought I would. I would take every one of his classes if I had the funds. Just do the work and dont have ass it and you will get an easy A, some papers are required, nothing over the top 4-5 page max.
He is a good teacher. He gives lectures that are interesting and does it in a way that keeps your attention. He's pretty entertaining. There is a lot of work but if you stay on top of it you should be fine. He does give you options for the assignments that he requires which is nice.
Aaron Berkowitz was probably one of the funnest instructors I ever had. His class was interesting and there would always be a funny story hidden in history. You have to write a couple of papers but they're real short. I would heartily recommend taking him.
Great professor! Since the class was more of a guinea pig, he let the students decide how the class was going to turn out. Probably one of the professors that I could actually pay attention to during lecture and retain. Overall, I would take a class with him again.
Great class if you have to take a history course. Be prepared to work! Each week you have to participate in discussion boards, but he does give extra credit if you post early in the week. Hardest part is the final paper over a book he assigns. No test, no quizzes, no final. This class is solely participation. only complaintslow grader!
I took Western Civ I & II both online, and I loved them. He gives tons of helpful material for each module, get ready to be addicted to Crash Course videos, and there are weekly discussion boards. Awesome classes, some of my favorite. He is a slow grader though, you'll need to be patient with your grades.
He clearly cares very much about history. Requirements are very clearly outlined and there are no surprises. He requires a very manageable workload; this is not a stressful class. Topics chosen for discussion boards were super interesting and I am not typically fascinated by history. He was slow on grading, but it wasn't an issue.
Be ready to wait 2 months for him to grade stuff, exams are papers
This class was online and he doesn't update the assignments when the last week's batch are due which is annoying if you want to get your homework over with right away. But everyone waits to the last second so Overall grades fairly, and the homework is the same every week! He takes forever to grade and many times no assignments for a week!
Awesome professor, used the textbook and online test weekly. Very accessible by email and willing to work with students on assignments. Most night class students have full time day jobs and he accounted for that.
Be prepared for him to never grade anything so you have no idea how you are doing to base your performance on for the next set of assignments. Considering it's literally the same assignments for every chapter you're screwed if you've been doing them wrong because you'll have no idea until it's too late.
Amazing professor, all you could ask for. Such a help when you aren't in understanding of something and sticks to the same routine.
The entire class consisted of essays and quizzes. You had both every week. If you are not good at writing paper and coming up with original thought then avoid this class. Otherwise he takes a very unconventional approach to this class. Deep thinking is a key. Traditional memorization is not a necessity even in the slightest.
This professor said hello day 1, and then was never heard from again. No lectures, no lessons, and no guidance whatsoever. To say he grades slowly is putting it lightly. He requires an incredible amount of busy work, and then waited until the last week of class to grade about 20 different assignments. I have had better online school experiences
This guy is terrible. He assigns way too much homework for an introductory class. There are no notes to take. All he does is talk. So dont even bother taking notes. I love history, but this is not the way to teach it. Its hard to pay attention when he doesnt even use a projector or write notes during lecture
Aaron Berkowitz is definitely not a bad guy, just not a good professor. Takes his sweet time grading assignments, and I mean, SWEET time. I went through the entire course without a large chunk of my assignments getting graded until the very last day grades were due. Assignments are heavy, tedious, and not "introduction" level. Stray far away.
Very understanding. I was able to turn in assignments until literally the last moment. Encouraged me to skip class if I needed a mental health day. Very informative and knowledgeable about the topics. Very funny. Don't be afraid to ask questions.
dude hasn't graded assignments from 2 months ago. Straight up lazy and expects his students to go above and beyond for every assignment. smh dude is a clown
If you are thinking about taking this course online or during the summer, SAVE YOURSELF DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. During the summer they use a program called 'inquizitive' and one google search will tell you that it is the most horrid online program to ever grace this earth. If you take this course, take note of the dropout with full refund date.
Berkowitz is fantastic! Very personable, engaging lectures, easy grader. Obviously passionate about the material. Definitely take his class - if it's in-person. If not, you're on your own with Inquizitive, which I wouldn't wish on anyone. He is, however, as slow of a grader as everyone says he is.
One thing about this professor is he is a VERY slow grader. It took him a long time to grade most of my assignments. There was a heavy work load.
No tests, quizzes, midterms, or finals. You just have to play a game for the final. Attendance isn't required and the only homework is like 6 assignments due every other week on Mondays. He's super easy going and understands if you have to miss class. He is obviously very interested in what he teaches and can go on long rants if asked a question.
Do not take this class over summer. Crazy workload and takes forever to grade. There was not much lecture or anything, just inquizatize assignments.
I would try to take him in-person. His lectures are entertaining, you learn a lot, and you never have to take notes or anything like that. Assignments are easy, and as long as you keep up with the work, it is impossible to get a bad grade. There are no exams either. My friends who have him online say it is a little more difficult.
Entertaining lecturer and the workload is easy but you still learn from it.
This professor assigned lots of homework, but it was pretty easy to complete within the deadline. The grading scale was easy to follow, and I did not have to try super hard to complete this course. I totally recommend taking this history class!
He uses McGraw Hill, each assignment is about 40-50 concepts (takes about 1hr 30 mins total) Theres also writing assignments, which are 1000 words, not hard, just annoyingly lots of words. Overall easy class, just do your assignment and don't miss any and you'll pass.
Dr. Berkowitz is a great professor! His lectures are funny and interesting, for an otherwise boring subject. He assigns 6 assignments for the chapters every two weeks, and is flexible on late work. He cares about his students, and wants you to do well.
