Little help if any explanations unclear, going through the motions in a class thats at lower level then used to teaching in
I've taken Prof. Bingham for both 203 and 204. I personally love the way he teaches his classes. He gives easy to take notes. He's doesn't assign every problem in the book (only 7-15 probs per week for turn in). His tests take some time though.
If you miss something or fall behind you're out of luck. I and other students were actually told "don't worry you'll get it next time you take the class." By the end there was approx. 1/3 of my class left.(looks like Hitler)
Good teacher, very methodical and easy to follow. Does not hesitate to go over more problems to help students understand concepts. Very funny guy.
I didn't find him to be all that funny and his tests were a joke. Personally, I don't know why he's teaching but maybe his teaching style just doesn't work with me. And he does look kind of like Hitler.
Good teacher, funny...
I think Mr. Bingham is very good at teaching Elements of Calculus. This is my second time around, and he is explaining it much better than my first teacher did. Not only that, Mr. Bingham is making things click that should of in previous classes. He always takes time to explain further as needed.
I loved coming to Bingham's class. He made math a not-so-boring class to come too. He expected you to do the work, but he wasn't a jerk about it.
Definitely do NOT take this class if you're just trying to get your transfer degree!
Difficult, fun, but didn't capture my interest. Not a professor to remember as influential but I passed the class. You lose interest halfway through and the rest of it is mechanical - come to class, do the homework, take the test...
Great Teacher! I've heard from other people that statistics was hard, but Aaron made it easy. I mean, heck, you got a page of notes for each test, he drops one of your three tests, and two of your 10 homework assignments! Plus, you get 2 pages of notes for the final! Gotta love it!
Very clear, easy to follow. Do the work and you'll do well on the tests.
very good teacher! very helpful and clear explanation!

Bingham is a nice enough guy, but he goes through the material really quickly and can be rather intimidating at times.
Comes to class prepared, has projects, quizes and tests. Tests are somewhat difficult but you will get a good grade if you study. Explains material very well, has an comprehensive grasp of the material, uses class time effectively. Would rate him as one of my best math teachers ever. Strongly recommend taking his class.

Awesome
He is rude, very unclear...Takes concepts that are very simple in the book and makes them as difficult as he can. Required too much busy work which henders people from having time to study in a manner which is effective for them and his tests are although the material may not be overly difficult if you study the test requires so much info its overw
This is probably the easiest math class to take if you are not going for a technical degree. You are graded on your best 2 out of 3 section tests, a final test, and a short homework project for each chapter. Bingham is a pretty cool guy, and the class really isn't very painful as far as math goes. It helps to read your book and to ask questions.
He's very helpful.
Not a teacher! This man does not teach the material rather he just shows examples but does not explain. The entire class is lost. I would highly advise you not to take this guy.
he is a teacher.... reallly? he sucks
His test are super hard. no one ever walks out on his exams, he takes the highest score of the class and makes it an A. we have one person who is retaking this class and still gets 80's on those tests, the rest of the class is in the sixties, and fifties. 25% of grade is projects ( couple problems),10% attendence (quizes) 25% exams, 40% final exam
Great teacher! One of the best Math teachers I've ever had
His classes are hard, and demand your full attention. Tests are challenging, so if you do not understand the material you'll get cooked. I like Mr. Bingham seriousness about his subject and his focus on providing examples for every kind of problems.
Homework: not required, but better do to pass. In class quizes: 2 a week, easy if do HW. Project: 1 per week, HARD usally have 2-3 days. Test: 3 and final. Lowest test score removed. Test: can be very hard (can use calculator)85% high score, but this is curved so its an A. Also 1 page notes allowed for test :).
Arron Bingham is the absolute worst teacher I ever had. I now have my bachelors degree and one of my kids signed up for him I told them to drop him. Its true he talks about his dates all the time, worthless to students, doesn't care about them at all.
Sit with a buddy in the back of class and we like this guy. Might seem dry at first but his mannerisms are halarious. Material very clear, doesn't make you remember bazaar tricks to pass tests, and allows notes on tests. Frequent "projects" and pop quizes (at least once a week each) make sure you're on your toes and in class. Hoping in calc 3!
Run Fast!!! he's evil, doesn't care about u at all.tests are hard and projects every week (tons of problems)He's mean and inconsiderate. Drop fast dont waste ur time if u think its hard, it will only get harder and he will fail u!!!
I think he's an ok teacher, but he really needs to improve his tests. He taught the material decently, but his tests are killer. He doesn't make homework required, but it is HIGHLY suggested that you do it all. He allows a one sided note sheet on tests, with two on the final.
If you have a weak mind, do not take this class. The reason why people complain is because they were not ready for an advanced course. Aaron teachings are very clear but the material is not so easy to understand. Come to class everyday and do the homework and you will pass and you will get an idea of what a challenging course is.
Even with a tutor and the answers you will still have a difficult time. Very punishing on tests and projects. Almost too smart. Buy the book early get two chapters ahead. Know everything and be prepared but no one has ever successfully taught an entire book, He does.
I don't think he is capable of vocal fluctuation- I have never heard anyone so monotone and boring in my life. I was unable to absorb any information whatsoever- and I'm pretty good at math. It was a nightmare.
Expect to teach yourself
Not too much homework, but the exams are absolutely grueling. Almost everyone in the class usually looks like a doe in headlights when he is lecturing. 2 to 3 question quizzes almost every day, and 5-9 problems from the book for homework. Be prepared to spend at least an an hour per day outside of class studying this in order to do well.
he's good at keeping the class all on the same page
the worst teacher ever!!!!!!!!
Do not take this profesor, he is terriable at his job. He will not explain anything and has people skills. Get a different teacher
He's a nice guy and slightly humorous at times. The tests are hard, quizes are so-so depending on the material and his projects (problem sets) are mainly a preview of what to expect on the tests. I'd recommend him if you'd like a challenge without the requirement of turning in homework. Doing homework is a recommended but everything else is a must.
very strikt
When needing help on problems, he doesn't explain things clearly. it's his way or not at all.
was a very boring teacher. gives lots of take home assignments. Most take home assignments dont really match up to the book type of problems. I stayed after everyday doing hw and it didnt help. I dont recommend taking this class or 103 if you dont have to.
grades hard; sometimes unfairly. hwk and quizes every other day. speaks in monotone, but is pretty amusing at times. can also be RUDE if you make it look like you do not care (texting, talking) about his class. 1/3 of the class dropped after first test. 1/3 after second. of the 12 people remaining, there was 1 A, 2 B's and 9 C's or below on test 3.
His tests are very hard. He gives easy practice problems and throws his hardest stuff @ the exams. He's great one-on-one, but in class he vaguely answeres questions, illegible handwriting, and boring. Explains material as if you're already a Stats expert. Way more work than a 3 credit class should take. Prepare to bust you're but for a "C."
Saw greater improvements in my own math skills by taking his classes. Took Coll. Alg. and Calc I. The problem sets he assigns can be pretty tough. They will test your math skills. You may need to ask for help. You'll have to re-review old material. If you work hard at it, you will come out a better student. Exams can be hard; be prepared.
Good professor explains thing we are learning in pretty good detail
He moves way too fast through chapters, very condescending and his exams are almost impossible. He never gives his students any idea what to expect on the exams. Would not recommend him at all.
2 midterms, 1 final 40% of your grade. If you don't pass the any of the tests your screwed. Homework is easy and he drops the 2 lowest scores but homework is only 30% of your grade. Other than that he's HARD. All i can say is good luck!
he was difficult to listen to because he was really monotone. his handwrtting is impossible to read. all of what i have learned has been in help labs. he grades extremely hard. he is very helpful outside of class though.
this guy is a piece of work. homework is overwhelming, and has practically nothing to do with the test material. he grading is a mystery, and so is the material that is expected to be on the tests! take stats from Mr.Erskine.
This professor grades on a weird scale (final = 40% of grade). He is condecending and rude, and makes anyone with a question feel like an idiot. Also, IF he answers your question, it is usually with a super-easy example of the problem that didn't cover the "ten-step problem" that you had.
He is not that bad. His handwriting is probably the worst of him. He really cares if you pass his class. VERY helpful after class
1-2 mandatory problem sets every week. This teacher is a nightmare. If you go to him for help on the hw he'll mark you wrong on it. His writing is terribly illegible. A very small portion of prob sets are on the tests and they are BRUTAL. Don't take him, he's not worth it and you are pretty much guaranteed a C or lower.
I have been going to Clark on and off for about 3 years now. Never experienced an instructor like Aaron. Nice one-on-one but during class, he is hard to understand, test are extremely hard, and the problem sets (homework) take hours to complete. I honestly don't believe Aaron cares if his students pass of fail. Of 35 students only 12-15 are left.
Bingham is very difficult. Hard tests and the homework takes way more time than a 3 credit class should have. And the problem is that the homework doesnt even prep you for the exams. He is a jerk, you do it EXACTLY his way or your not going to do well. The scores for the tests all average in the C and D range. Dont take him!
He treats his class like a middle school class. His sentences are riddled with unnecessarily huge words that just make him look like a tool. It feels like he doesn't put an emphasis on learning, but rather what grade you get. Would NOT take him again.
One hard professor. Teaches with zero enthusiasm and uses a vocabulary no student will recognize. Problem sets and quizzes are graded with the iron fist of death. Enjoy your hard earned C
his teaching style so hard, he never explain material clearly, Never doing examples that will be in the HW part - you have to figure them out. Tests really difficult, the only one good thing is that he allowing to you sheets with definitions-no help.
If you are going on in Calculus Prof Bingham is the best. He will push you, but in the end you are thankful for it. Hardest math class I have taken. Projects take a ton of time, but if you document everything right you will get the points. Quizzes can be tough too, so do your homework everyday. Just ask questions from him he is really good.
What can i say, I attended every class and did every assignment and still got a C. His tests are weighted huge and he makes them so long that noone has enough time to actually finish them. His lectures are so boring and confusing that every one just stares blankly and hopelessly. Would never take him again.
He's the kind of teacher that makes you do everything long-hand, even if there's a simple way to do it on your calculator. His handwriting is ATROCIOUS, and it's extremely difficult to understand what his writing on the board. If you have the option, take the class with NATHAN AUSTIN, he is awesome!!
The tests were very difficult and lectures I only half understood. I ended up retaking 203 and later 204 online with another teacher and having a much easier time (even though it was online).
Did all the work, didnt skip class and got a C. The tests will kill you. They are just too long for the amount of time you are given to finish them.
Tough class, good teacher.
His tests are really hard and it sucks that he doesn't make us turn in the homework. His jokes aren't that funny eather, maybe i just don't get them...other then that he was a good teacher..
He's awesome.
He's a wonderful teacher. U can use your phone, you don't have to turn in homework, you have to do projects (like homework but it's like one every week) and the tests are HARD. The tests are mostly theory rather than work, and you MUST know the theorems. You don't always get problems on the tests, you have to show that u know how to solve them.
It's a class where most students don't expect the amount of work needed to do well. Over all the instructor tries his best to show how to do the work in a different method from the text book. He is always willing to meet with you after class to clarify questions. He tries his best, just work hard and study as much as you can. Decent guy.
Bingham seemed like he really loved math and wanted to be there. He always was nice and tried his best to help but he over complicates things which is confusing. His tests are pretty challenging. Do the optional homework every night as study help, take notes, and write down everything he does on the board.
If you're really good at math and you understand everything quickly, then you will be fine...If not, then it's going to be really hard for you. He has lots of quizzes. He has hard projects. His tests were very difficult as well. He's really helpful...but his class is still extremely hard. This class was stressful.
He is a horrible horrible teacher. Very unclear, hard to understand. Class is boring and he mumbles while teaching. He has horrible hand writing and his notes are barely legible. Tests and homework is hard. Would never recommend.
I like Bingham, but his class was tough. His tests are very difficult and I felt they were a little unfair. Though, I will say that I feel that I have strong base understanding of Trig because of this, something that has been very useful in Calc. If you aren't moving on in math, take the class from someone else, if you want a challenge take Bingham
Horrible horrible teacher. Homework is given and required to be turned in outside of the class period. I had to drive 25 minutes+ just to turn it in and head back home. I am a very disciplined student and had a 4.0 going into the class. I received a C after the 450 point final, in the end. I do not recommend him to any student. Glad to be done!
This class made me hate math. I used to be really good but after taking this class, I felt like a complete idiot and never took a math class again. I worked hard but still got a C. Fifty minutes is not enough time to finish a test with 10-20 extremely difficult questions. Lectures were confusing. Do not take this class.
His class is very hard. Sometimest the homework that is due for class is outside the class time period. An annoyance! He only gives 1 example of each sections he goes over and its way different than the textbook. He also has bad handwriting and goes over material too quickly
Very unclear in explanations. Horrible handwriting. Lots of homework. Tests are fairly easy though.
If you have to take this class, take a different professor. He does not explain things when he writes on the board. Does not answer questions clearly. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR.
This class was not easy. He thinks that you should read the book to understand how to do the problems, well what do I him for. If you have a question or need something explained he wants you to come after class to get it answered. kinda hard to do that when i was not only just taking his class. I would recommend a different professor.
This is by far the WORST teacher I have ever had!!! He stands in front of class writing messy notes while wearing a rubber glove, doesn't make sure you understand, will not let you ask questions. His tests are HARD!!! I did all the reading, got help from a tutor, went and saw him, took all the notes and still didn't pass. DON'T TAKE THIS TEACHER!
DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS. I had him for College Algebra and I had to drop the class even though I had an A in Algebra 2 in high school and I am a 3.8 gpa student. He wont help, he teaches math that is not in the textbook and puts it on his test but does not give any study guides or reviews to help you study for the test and he had a bad attitude.
HE IS THE WORST TEACHER EVER! I had him for both Statistics and Algebra and he was bad in both classes. He doesn't want to help, he teaches things not in the book, he says he is there to teach and not to help you (ie doesn't want you to come to office hours). I was getting a C and studied my butt off for the final to finally get a B for the class.
Awful Professor. Went in and asked for help in the first few weeks and he simply said "it's not too late to drop the class". Offered no help at all. His tests were nothing like the quizzes &homework assignments. Basically had to teach myself everything. The only good thing about this class is that there are only straight A,B,C grades, nothing else.
This class is hard, especially with Bingham. He gives completely random quizzes out of the blue and homework problems every week, the tests are not hard though, they're basically the homework problems but harder. He can be helpful, but his lectures are FAST PACED. READ THE CHAPTER BEFORE CLASS OR YOU WILL GET CONFUSED, MAJORLY. The book saved me.
Just keep up with chapters of the day and you'll be fine. He has office hours also and is available for help to even the most bewildered students. Also, can explain complicated proofs and application problems. So take him if you want a thorough understanding of math. If you're a slacker and don't care about the quality of the course then don't.
I know a lot of people really don't like his classes, but I really enjoyed them. He has a special sense of humor (of the nerdy variety, my favorite kind). He cracks jokes but a lot of people don't get them. Otherwise, his lectures are great and he explains topics very well and answers questions if you have them. Would (and have) recommend him!
I'd like to consider myself a good student. I always do my homework, show up 2 class, take notes, etc. Mr. Bingham has no sympathy 4 anyone. He is a nice, well-respected man. I was struggling quite a bit in this class and he was anything but helpful. His tests are verbatim the lectures so pay attention & get a textbook! Study everyday! Im retaking.
He's friendly at least...
Had 2 pop quizzes the first week of class! Quizzes can be on hmwk that was just assigned the day before with no time to ask questions. The amount of homework he assigns is ridiculous too, compared to a lot of other math teachers. For a good grade you need to spend hours memorizing and plan on a bunch of hmwk problems everyday.
I have never had such an unhelpful teacher. I came in for help and he only made me more confused. His tests are really hard and many dropped out of his class. If you like teachers who are helpful and math doesn't come easy to you, DO NOT TAKE BINGHAM.
He is a good professor. The subjects that he teaches are of themselves difficult and that is where people tend to trip up. He is more than willing to explain how to do something either during office hours or during class, PROVIDED YOU PAY ATTENTION and don't ask for something he already explained. Just don't do other classes homework in his class.
He's a very nice guy, if you ask for extra help he is willing. My problem was he went over the bare minimum in lecture, expected you to know a lot more than he taught (from textbook). Wasn't a fan of his teaching, I'm good at math and I feel like he made it a lot more confusing than it needed to be. I needed to retake the class.
You have to attend class to get the daily homework. You will have to read the text on your own to figure it out if you are not well versed because he does not use the text (other than for examples) to teach. I'm not saying he is a bad instructor, but he is not teacher.
If you struggle with math do not take his class. Sloppy writing and expects you to know the material already. Homework is given mostly everyday, quizzes are only two questions. But the exams are tough you are going to have to study quit a bit. Goes over the bare minimum and given examples that aren't even on the homework.
He is very tough grader. There is lot of homework. Even though i had done all his homework and regular in his class i have to repeat this class again. I recommend not to take his class.
He's got a really boring voice but he really knows his stuff. You'll learn, but only if you pay attention and do the hw.
First day of class he told us half the class will fail. STATS is not supposed to be hard, but Bingham makes it so much harder than it needs to be! The tests are SUPER hard! Took STATS 204 with another professor and had a much easier time! If you can take STATS with another professor, if not get ready to study like crazy!!
Awful. Awful. Awful. Didn't care if we passed or not. Degrades and disregards students with comments like "I won't be surprised if people don't pass" ... Explained the material as if we were all statistic geniuses ... not the introductory statistic students we really were.
One of the hardest classes I have ever taken in my life. Is very lecture heavy, does maybe 2 examples out of the chapter, then expects you to understand the martial the next day for the pop quiz. Worst part is the exams. There are three and worth 25% of your grade while the final is worth 35%. Not worth the headache. Made class harder than it should
Mr. Bingham doesn't seem to care if students understand material and discourages students by claiming they'll fail. He was nice and helpful during office hours but class lecture is a joke, uses pop quizzes to keep students from skipping, expect 2-3 hours a night of study and hw to pass.
I was not excited for this because of the bad ratings he got. Class is not easy but he is a great teacher. His lectures make the information much easier to understand and he gives good feedback. Pop quizzes and stupid easy and are given directly after you learn something. He drops an exam and will do homework problems with the class if asked to.
ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE!!!! I took this class for credit for my AA and had to WITHDRAW from it because it was so bad. Mr. Bingham LOVES math and is VERY passionate but gets off topic a lot and starts talking about Calculus a lot. His tests are about 12 questions long and 100 points total. If you miss one question you bomb the whole thing. DON'T TAKE!!
HE IS A HISTORY MAJOR - He knows math yeah, but he is awful at teaching and intriguing students. He is forceful and doesn't care for their understanding of the content. I had to withdraw being a MATH MAJOR and had already taken Calculus not even a year ago this really sucks. He gives 0's like it's nothing. I wish I read ratemyprofessor......
Worst professor I had in my life! Extremely boring and nerdy. Have to attend everyday or else the amount of homework will pile up really quickly. Pop quizzes each week. REALLY tough class! Don't fall asleep in his class or else you'll miss a lot of info from his lectures. Prepare to have a very long, boring, and hard term if you take him.
He is a very tough grader, but if you read the textbook and pay attention in class you will pass. He doesn't grade inflate and you really have to earn an A, but the education I got from the class has made life easier for me.
This Stats class was hard. Attendance is important, he gives 1-3 pop quizzes a week. (I took a M-F class). If you miss one you can't make it up and they're 10% of your grade. Work load can unreasonable but he reviews problems in class. The final is 40% of your grade, so it can really make or break you. My advice, show up to every single class.
Worst math teacher I ever had. He's lectures don't make sense & I was better off reading the book.
Literally take any other teacher besides this one, it'll save you a lot of time and stress. Missing even one class will probably put you behind since there are a lot of pop quizzes. He grades really hard, make sure you show ALL of your work cause otherwise it'll be counted as wrong. He seems nice, but it's all a fake, he doesn't want people to pass
Awful! His class is entirely lecture & quizzes. Lectures are disorganized, fast paced and very confusing. Unapproachable. Makes you feel stupid. Handwriting is completely illegible. His lectures are him just doing the problems and not explaining. 1st exam, both of his classes avgd at D's. Take if you have no other classes, and can teach yourself.
I unfortunately had to drop this class Week 8 due to outside circumstances so keep that in mind. I also had not taken a math class in a little under a year. This class was moderately difficult for me until Week 4-5 and thats when concepts became very difficult. If you are a slow learner when it comes to math take an easier class.
I definitely would recommend taking a different professor if it all possible. He really wasn't great at explaining many things, so by the end of the quarter half of the class had dropped. Seriously. I learned the first half of the quarter's material already, which is why I did alright. His expectations aren't always clear either.
Currently in intro stats, I wish I would have read these reviews before registering in this class! Handwriting is horrid, you can't read what he's writing on the board or feedback on papers. His grading criteria is unclear, you'll ask him if THIS is how he wants it days before turning in, just to get a 0. This class broke my straight A transcript:(
Awful awful teacher. Can't read anything he writes on the board because his handwriting is so bad, and if you ask him what it says, he responds with "eh, you guys should know how to do this." Isn't that the whole reason I took the class, to learn how??? The teacher I signed up for dropped last minute and I got stuck with him. Killed my gpa
This class is just hard material in general, but professor Bingham does a great job in explaining the subject and he seems very intelligent. Attendance is not mandatory but if you miss class you'll have to teach yourself.
Hard materials. Get ready to work on your own and go to his office hours often. He goes over materials moderately quickly. Quizzes aren't too bad but the tests are TOUGH. 60's the average, but he curves/pumps up as needed at the very end. He doesn't update your grade though so you'll only see your final grade when the unofficial transcript's done
Aaron is a tough grader. He does a lot of pop quizzes. You cant understand his writing on the board. He doesnt really explain the steps on a problem. If you ask him about a certain problem from the book hell say come see me during my office hours. He also gives out homework two days before its due. Take his class, get ready to work on your ow
Ok this teacher is amazing even though he makes you work hard, he will use all your potential to understand this class, In the beginning you will lost, his pronunciation is hard, but you will get it. Be aware statistics in general is not easy, read your book and understand the concepts to be ready in his class. Good luck.
I am currently in intro to stats and bingham class is difficult, he has a lot of quizzes that in class and scattered and he makes you do these review from the last class that is due before the next class and the homework isnt too bad. He has a very hard time answering students questions and always redirect back to the book. Be wary w/ this class
Im curently taking Intro to stats. His class is very difficult. If you dont pay attention or miss class you will not understand. Make sure to take good notes and read the text book. Do not recomment if you're looking for an easy A. Class isnt bad but could be better. Lots of pop quizzes and no study guide. Good luck!
Professor accepts late homework to a point and is easily accessible during his office hours. Notes and reading the textbook is a must I had to learn by myself most of the time online through various math videos. Sit at the front if you have poor eyesight because he writes small. Homework almost every meeting + online chapter work too. Manage time!
I struggled beyond measure. I took him for stats, and I have never done anything harder in my life. If you want to cry every single day over your homework, go ahead and take him! :)
THIS WAS FOR AN ONLINE CLASS: This is the worst professor I have ever had. He is not helpful, and makes smart comments when you have questions. His tests are not multiple choice, therefore he marks off points wherever he wants. He has a lot of homework each week, and adds more when the week comes. XP assignment are given the same day they are due!
The worst teacher in my life. I took it online and realized that I mostly worked on my own. Doesn't care about students success at all, exams are hard and consist of writing question which he grades whatever he wants. Thre is no lurking curve, and he doesn't drop the lowest exam score. He is a tough grader and never gives good feedback.
I took this class online, for spring quarter 2020. There is a lot of material and homework. It is very important to do Stats everyday to stay on top of the work, once you get behind it is hard to pass the class. TIME MANAGEMENT!
unhelpful and has no problem failing a majority of his class. tough grader, missing something small is -10 points. Has no desire to help students. overall frustrating experience and makes it hard to want to continue in math at Clark.
I took Bingham's class during the COVID-19 pandemic where all classes had to be converted to online. He provided zero lectures. The only "teaching" he did was poorly written explanations of the week's section. His grading is also fairly harsh; for example, he took 50% off for forgetting to write the integral limits even when I got the right answer.
Took his online class and it was a TERRIBLE experience. Youre practically on your own. He assigns too much homework and creates XP with short notice. Tough grader as well. Id avoid if possible.
He was HORRIBLE and grades harshly for the smallest mistakes. He absolutely refuses to accept late work. You do like 2 pop quizzes each week, and only have a day to complete it. His tests (there are 3) have a time limit, and are not multiple choice. At the end of the quarter, you have the final test that goes over ALL the work you learned.
An absolute gauntlet to get through a course he teaches. Messy handwriting, quickly covers topics, and rough pop quizzes. This was precovid, but half the class dropped. Out of the many math tests I've taken, his are the most unique: multiple choice, short answer, and computation--challenging tests. I respect Bingham, but his is a do-or-die style.
As many have said Bingham is inflexible and consistently post new assignments online that are due within 24 hours. This is a professor who seems to have found themselves in the wrong profession. He's better suited as an auditor or maybe dmv employee. Anywhere you need to be confrontational and unhelpful.
He was not open to give help when needed. I met with the schools STATS tutors on more than one occasion for extra help, and they where confused on the homework. When I emailed the teacher for more help he said the tutors where useless and he did not offer guidance himself. I was not given the tools and skills to succeed in the class.
Webassign Homeworks and hand-graded "Take-Home Quizzes" are difficult and regular, but they prepare you for the tests, which are much easier. He drops a couple of your lowest assignments, and curves every test. He gives good feedback and is available for office hours. Don't be discouraged by other reviewers- Math teachers are always underrated!
The homework is difficult, but because of this you learn the material well and the tests are easy by comparison. He posts homework and quizzes a few days before they are due, and he doesn't accept late work. This forces you to not procrastinate, which I found to be extremely helpful. This man will teach you Calc 2 well, but it takes some effort.
Aaron really is a kind man at heart, but he needs to change the way he teaches. The quizzes are very difficult, almost 2 a week. The homework takes an INSANE amount of time to do and every XP took me over 5 hours to finish. no late work. Aaron, if you are reading this please be a bit more understanding and less harsh.
You have children or a job? DO NOT take this class. XP assignments brutal. Spent a minimum of 5-8 hours a day on stats. No room for extra credit or family life. The teacher will not offer help unless you pre-frame the conversation with "yes, I already read the textbook and went over lectures." If you do ask for help, be stern or you won't get it.
Aaron is ridiculous. Statistics really isn't difficult. You'll get 100% on homework, no doubt. But his XP assignments? Prepare for two of those a week. The XP assignments DRAG DRAG DRAG your grade down. Why? Because he's a ridiculously harsh grader and he's not clear about what he wants in his answers. Cut and dry teachings right out of the book.
This class was so difficult he would assign work on a Friday due Monday every single week. My life literally became the times I wasnt doing statistics homework. Nothing is ever multiple choice and he grades on his own criteria and does so harshly. There was 3 2hr exams, all of which the class averages ranged from 50-60 /100. Avoid if you can
I got an A in two stats classes at WSU. Intro to stats with Professor Bingham was terrible. I cried after failing my first exam. He does not take student feedback, and does not seem to truly hear them. He basically blamed me (not maliciouslly) for not doing well. I hold myself accountable, but his teaching methods were not conducive for sucess.
This was a really tough professor for a first time college student. He never works with you and if you have trouble or for example can't leave work he will not give you even 30 more minutes to do the assignment and especially the exams. No late assignments at all and no extra credit. If you are failing you are failing and on your own.
He isn't a bad professor, but you do need to pay attention when taking this course. When it's an online class you really have to pay attention. His exams were kind off odd to me so beware of that. Focus on your First, Midterm, and Final when the time comes those will really hurt your grade. They are 30% of your grade. HW and XPs are only worth 20%.
The homework given to us by statslab was fine, but his handmade assignments were absolute nightmares. That along with his handmade tests made getting a good grade extremely difficult. Frustratingly though, I do not feel that the work provided prepared me for the tests at all, which made the handmade assignments feel even worse in retrospect. Avoid.
Homework assignments can take a while to complete so I would recommend reading the book the day before the work is due, then actually doing the work the next day. The professor is a chill guy and asks very general questions on the exam's and xp's. He does make his own questions so you have to be sure you are connecting the textbook and his notes.
Aaron REALLY does expect students to spend 10-15 hours a week on stats. What you should work on is clear, so if you set aside the time, you'll do great on the homework and XPs. Make sure to prepare for tests, you can't just finish the assignments and walk in to exams hoping for an A.
Late work or extra credit is not accepted in this class. All work is expected to be turned in on time, done correctly the first try with no redos. The textbook is very difficult to understand when you are trying to look up something for homework help. Be prepared to only focus on this class alone and spend all of your time in the tutoring hall.
He is a nice guy and means well. Attendance is mandatory and there is no late work accepted. If you walk into class 5 minutes late he doesn't accept your XPs at all. I would never take his class again, he seems like a last resort teacher when no other classes are open. Not worth taking. Wouldn't make time to help after class.
Definitely my least favorite professor I have had, if you are taking statistics take any other professor other than him. On an exam for my class, the mean score was a 48.5 and the high was a 71. I've had friends who have had similar experiences with this professor and also recommend taking any other professor for statistics other than him.
Professor Bingham has a specific teaching style, but if you engage with it, you can succeed. The homework can be time-consuming, so use resources like the textbook and unstuck AI to prep. Attend class and you'll learn a lot.
Nice guy, super accessible outside of class. Needs +2 hours daily for homework & you must read ahead to make sense of the lectures. Mandatory attendance and to pass you need to go to his office hrs often. Online hw is easy but extra problem ws' are increasingly difficult despite how they appear. Will be overwhelming if you do not have the time.
Math is my favorite subject, but I am struggling hard. Class is twice a week for 2hrs 20min and I feel confused the whole time. Doesn't teach us how to use our calculator even though it's an intro to stats class. Often runs past class time, but have to stay or won't get copy of the hw.
I put all of my effort into this class and got a D. This will not count toward my degree I will have to retake the class. I spent so many hours studying and doing assignments. Sometimes, I could spend 5 hours doing one homework assignment. Everyone struggles in his class. Save yourself! Take a different professor!
The class moved too fast with little real-world practice. Heavy homework and hard-to-read handwriting made it tough to keep up. The TI-83/84 calculator was required but never clearly explained. The professor was calm, but the teaching wasn't accessible for non-math majors, and I often felt lost.
Aaron was not a good professor for me. He lectures for the entire class, get ready to have 5 pages of full notes. He also doesn't have you do any work in class. If you are more of a hands-on learner, I would not take this class. HE ALSO DOESNT DISPLAY GRADES!- you have to manually calculate your grade. He will not accept late work.
Clear and understandable lectures. He grades fairly, gives a fair amount of homework, if you do all the homework you'll do good on the exams. Made Calc 2 understandable and painless.
Prof. Bingham is definitely a tough grader, but nice, and passionate about math. If you are currently taking the course, he gives very thorough advice if emailed outside of class. Personally, I had to put a lot of effort into the course outside of the two meetings per week, to make use of the concepts in depth, As well as properly using the TI-84.
The professor mostly lectures and walks through textbook practice problems. You will need to teach yourself some topics and go back over the textbook multiple times. In addition, exams mostly consisted of questions you wouldn't have seen in the textbook, so make sure you really understand the topics. Good luck :)
Lots of extra homework, he says that a 60% on the first test is average which very lowers your grade
