Extremely open to new ideas and opinions. Very fun class. He made the seemingly dull law book come alive. There are tons of little 2 page papers, a midterm and a final. He tries to scare you into dropping the class but just ignore him. He is the best Criminal Justice professor.

You actually have to do the reading (he's a fan of the socratic method), but he's open to new ideas, and class is fun with lots of debate. There are five 2 page papers, a midterm + a final. Go to class, do the reading and you'll do well.

One of my favorite professors, probably the best in the CJ department. A midterm, a final, a 8-10 page paper and corrosponding presentation. The class isn't easy, and isn't quite as exciting as his crim law class but he still makes the subject interesting. Any other prof and I would have been falling asleep.

Prof. Fichtelberg is a great professor who made criminal justice interesting. The class consisted mostly of reading a chapter beforehand, listening to a lecture, and the occasional 2-3 page paper. Midterm and final are both essay tests but not too difficult if you attend his review sessions and read your notes.

Incredibly interesting scholar... Fichtelberg does something that most graduate scholars do not; i.e., TEACH. The man is a gift to the university; and to a department that is should give graduate-level seminars with a core, and not simply a hodepodge of journal articles written by the professor(s), and/or deemed important to the professor(s).

This was my favorite class of Freshman year. He is the best. Even with 120+ students, he kept everyone interested in his lecture. Tests are easy, multiple choice and require little studying other than the study guide he hands out. I would recommend this class to ANYONE, as long as he was teaching it. I hope i can get into his upper level class.

I loved this course, and it was solely because of Prof. Fichtelberg. He is interesting and brilliant and his lectures are almost never boring (if they are, he spices them up with funny stories and cursing). he makes the subject interesting and is a "no B.S." kind of guy. pay attention and go to class and speak up, you'll do well in class.

He is full of humor and will keep you on your toes! But he is very picky with how you answer short answers. It's hard to get a B on his short answers, let alone an A.

Go to class and listen to lecture, it is actually very interesting and educational. Oh, and do NOT text during class.

Easily one of my favorite professors at UD. He is tough and doesn't take any bull. DONT show up late, DONT text in class, and DONT forget to read, he will call on you randomly and if you didn't read he WILL make you look like a jerk. Grading is tough but fair and his expectations are clear from the start. AMAZING professor, you learn so much!

Best prof in the CJ department. He's hilarious, makes any class fun. He makes a lot of jokes, some of which can be offensive ONLY if you have no sense of humor. He is brilliant, knows his stuff and knows it well. If you do the work there is no reason you shouldn't get an A along with some entertainment. Take ANY class with him, he's awesome.

The discussions are great, but he expects a lot out of his students. He is a great guy, but he is an extremely tough grader for an intro course. A lot more work required than I thought.

Prof. Ficht is the man! he always keeps lectures interesting and frequently cracks jokes. Go to class and study for the exams using lecture notes. if you do these two things it will be an easy A. He bluntly stated at the beginning of the semester that the textbook industry is a scam...(aka his exams can be aced with good lecture notes)!

By far one of the best teachers I've ever had. Go to class, take part in discussion, argue with him, read the book and you'll do fine. This is the first class I've had that I never even wanted to skip. A must for anyone considering law school. Outrageous fun (for law nerds)

My favorite professor so far. Originally took class as a breadth req, but now I have gained a greater interest and want to pursue a CJ double major or minor. Attendance not mandatory, but I wanted to go to class everyday and was upset when I had to miss for sports. Needed to study for exams, i wouldn't consider it an easy A but easily attainable.

AWESOME CLASS! I highly recommend, even if your major has nothing to do with CJ. Definitely one of the best professors I have had at UD. I never want to skip this class because he is so funny and makes the material interesting. Reading the textbook will only make it easier. If you get easily offended, don't take him. But he's strongly recommended and Im going to miss this class so much when its over!

Fichtelberg is very nice and his class is quite easy. 3 exams and all very easy. He also gives you a study guide which helps a lot. He writes on a blackboard and there are no slides and he is not very organized so taking notes is not easy. The book helps and has most of the definitions that he teaches.

Funniest professor I've ever had.

This class is facetious. He is very friendly and willing to help, and the contents are very clearly conveyed. 3 exams: two non-cumulative and final which is cumulative. 180 questions in total (50 50 50 + Cumulative 30). If you want to do well on the exams, you have to pay attention to the classes because what he said all pop up. Tough reading.

Fichtelberg was a lot of fun and I really enjoyed his lectures. He's really chill and teaches you stuff you can apply to real life. For CRIM110, you take 3 tests and a final; there's no homework, quizzes, or papers. If you study your notes and the study guide you should be fine. You only really need the textbook for some definitions.

Fichtelberg is strongly opinionated, insensitive, and crude. That being said, he's one of my favorite professors I've had at this school. Despite not agreeing with his politics, Professor Fichtelberg does a great job during lectures, making complex concepts easy to understand and overall, keeping the interest of the class. Not for the thin-skinned.

Honestly my favorite professor at UD. He's hilarious, explains things extremely well, and is there for students in and out of the classroom. He stepped in to teach a philosophy course this semester which was cool because you could tell he was there because he genuinely enjoyed it. I could see how some people might find him offensive but you can't take it too seriously. If he does step over the line he will apologize. CRJ110 was the first class that I stumbled into as a freshman, and I quickly realized that this class would be amazing. His teaching style is unique and one of a kind, he will pick on you if you are on your phone and he will use profanity to make the lectures hilarious. The class is 3 tests and each has a review sheet with everything on them.

Professor Fichtelberg lectures freely for 50 min without powerpoints so be ready to take good notes. His lectures are always interesting with fun anecdotes that make the class enjoyable. He is great! For me, I rarely went to class because I'm lazy so instead I opted to read the textbook. He writes the textbook himself and it is so clear and interesting! Course grade is based off three exams - all multiple choice, he writes his own textbook which should 100% be read even if you go to every lecture (which is also important, although missing isn't gonna impact grade). As a beginner to philosophy, this course on existentialism provided me with many eye opening concepts that are relevant to everyday life. Specifically, our discussions on death and mortality caused a lot of self reflection during class and really resonated with me. It also helps that Professor Fichtelberg makes lectures funny and engaging.

This class was pretty solid. His teaching approach is lecture-heavy and he doesn't write much on the board, so it's important that you're ready to take good notes. But he does a good job of making it understandable and he cares a lot about the material. Be advised he doesn't allow phones to be used in class.

3 EXAMS!! Does best to stay neutral but will occasional go on a political rant (left), does not take attendance, if you don't go to class use his book. very nice guy. If you make a quizlet for the test and go over the terms and definitions the tests are easy. Make sure you do though, made that error , got a 54 on my 1st exam but a 94 on the 2nd.

Professor Fichtelberg is a great lecturer. Doesn't take attendance but would definitely recommend going to every class - easy to listen to and you can easily get As on the tests without reading the textbook. Tests are all multiple choice. He is definitely a liberal which leaks into the material but he is 100% honest. Easy breadth requirement.

If you want a lecture that will keep you engaged the entire time, then this is the class for you. He always tells good stories during class that relate to what he is talking about. (he sometimes goes on random tangents but they are very entertaining.) He is very liberal though and likes to occasionally crack jokes about politics.

KING. Loved this guy. Really funny and a great lecturer. Class is interesting and it makes you want to go, though you don't have to attend. He wrote the textbook which is nice, in my opinion. If you're concerned about politically opinionated profs, he leans left but will make fun of and argue for both sides equally. Definitely make room for CRJU101

If youre a CJ major, this will be one of the hardest classes you take, but Dr. Fichtelberg is the BEST. you will be stressed at the beginning of the semester because of how intense he makes the course sound, but dont drop it, especially if youre considering law school. your grade is 5 short papers, a midterm, final, and participation.

Prof Fichtelberg was great! The class is super interesting, and he gives great/interesting lectures! There are two essay tests and a research paper, but he grades them super easy! I can't recommend this class highly enough!

He speaks super clearly in lectures and provides plenty of context. You have time to write everything down and keep up while covering all the material. No BS with this guy, he's straight up about reality. He doesn't design the exams to trick you because he knows understanding the material is what matters. I didn't take this class because I had to

I highly Recommend taking Professor Fitchelbergs class. Hes hilarious and straight forward about grading. He doesnt write trick questions on the exam. I recommend going to the lectures because a lot of the questions on the exam are from the lectures.

One of the best professors at UD! He is hilarious and makes class very enjoyable. The only grades for the semester are three exams. They are all multiple choice. He is understanding and wants his students to succeed. He advocates for not putting information on the exam that he feels the class doesn't understand. Great fun guy!

Fichtelberg has easily been one of my favorite professors. Extremely engaging lectures where everyone has the opportunity to have their opinions heard. This class did not take attendance however attendance was largely based on engagement. Still unsure of how I performed in the class but I enjoyed it nonetheless. 6 short papers, 2 large papers.

Great prof for CRJU110. He is very funny and makes his lectures interesting to listen to. He is very opiniated but honestly it makes the class funnier. Only downside is that your grade is based off of three exams, but he usually makes them pretty easy.

Great professor, and super engaging with the material. You will enjoy going to class. You are only graded based off 3 exams, so just keep that in mind, but each exam was pretty easy. If you attend the class and follow along with the chapters, you will be more then prepared for the exams. Highly recommend.

Lectures are pretty interesting and attendance isn't mandatory. 2 midterms and a final. Exams are on canvas and you can use your notes. Take notes on the textbook for the exams and you don't really have to attend the lectures. He's not the easiest grader but the exam format made it pretty easy to get an A

Really funny. He will act tuff but he does care. No homework but your whole grade depends on 3 tests. The tests are easy you just have to study for them.

Pretty nice dude, he is chill and funny. Requires a lot of books and readings for the class but not bad, I'd definitely take him again.

Reading the textbook only, you'll definitely miss a few things, same goes for only going to lectures. But overall not hard if you pay attention

this was definitely one of the hardest classes I've taken at UD but if you're considering law school I think it's a must. participation really matters, he calls on people randomly and if you're not there you'll get a zero which brings your grade down drastically. He says attendance isn't mandatory but I definitely wouldn't miss a class. HARD grader

I loved this class. The professor was super fun and made the topics which were a little dry super interesting and engaging. The one downside to this class was that there were only three grades (the 2 midterms and the final), but everyone screwed up the first midterm so he was nice and gave us extra credit opportunities which bumped up my grade.

The professor was hilarious, cool, and chill. The class was hard, though, especially because I was a freshman who accidentally enrolled in the class, so lets just say I cried a couple times but I had so much fun, and the topics were interesting. Be prepared for long papers, quizzes, and the books are very hard to understand but some are ok.

This was my favorite class he is very funny and tries to get the class involved. His lectures he tries to makes his student make connections to help remember. He gives out terms to study before every quiz and knows his stuff. He doesn't give any homework, I'd recommend reading the textbook. His tests were easy as long as you paid attention.

He's hilarious, had the students cracking up every class. Very understanding and willing to work with you, but the work he gives out is no joke. It's a complicated subject and the work's difficult. He grades generously and clearly cares about his students doing well. But the tests, readings, and essay were a struggle for almost everyone in class.

Amazing teacher and very interesting class. 3 quizzes only, sometimes gives extra credit that can bump you up a lot. Attendance is not mandatory and lecture audio is posted on canvas, however being in person is worth it as he addresses a lot and helps you remember by using students as examples making it fun. I didn't read the book too much.

Professor Fichtelberg was amazing, probably my favorite professor I've had at UD. I took criminal law and social policy and I found every class to be extremely interesting. He gets students involved in the conversations a lot. the only grades are 3 essays, but its not bad. I absolutely recommend taking him, he's hilarious, honest, a great teacher.

Professor Fichtelberg is an outstanding teacher. He sets expectations of his students very high. Attendance was absolutely mandatory, but class was always very interesting. Lots of dense readings and writing that requires a new sense of critical thinking and approach to challenging problems. Invaluable training if you want to go to law school.

The lectures are all there is to the class, there is a textbook but I did perfectly fine by just attending lectures and taking minimal notes. the lectures are great too because he is really funny but also knows what he is talking about, gives great examples, and explains concepts thoroughly.

Definitely one of the most hilarious and greatest professors I was fortunate to have my first semester at UD. He also made me feel safe and made sure to ask a few times if I was ok when I was having issues with another student who was not even in his class, which made him respect him immensely. I'd recommend taking his class 100%, he is a true gem!

His lectures are so entertaining! Also, the only things your graded on are 3 all multiple choice exams. He sends out a study guide a week before the exam and as long as you study that the exams are super easy

The class was easy... there are only 3 grades which are 2 midterms and a final. He gives a study guide before all of them and if you just put that into a quizlet and memorize the terms by his book's definition, the test will be cake.

This guy is the best teacher/professor I ever had. He's absolutely hilarious and his lectures are really engaging. I would look forward to going to his lectures. He doesn't care about attendance, but I would suggest showing up most of the time to take notes. 3 tests throughout the semester but they are fairly easy and he posts study guides

Fichtelberg is an amazing prof. He is so engaging- he stood on desks and cursed like a sailor! The material was very engaging. Being so real I didn't attend after Exam 1 because the exams are purely just vocab definitions that he posts as exam prep on canvas. But the 2 exams + final are the entirety of your grade (my final was 44% of my grade).

Great professor. Encouraged participation and made it engaging and fun. Very helpful when I went to him during office hours asking how I can improve on my paper. Don't be afraid to say your opinion in this class, he wants that.

I would take this class every semester again and again if I could. Professor Fichtelberg has been my favorite teacher I have had since starting college a year ago. You can tell that this man KNOWS what he is talking about. No slides, he just talks in his lectures. I would recommend him to anyone who wants to take an introductory level CRJU course.

Honestly so nice and engaging; joked with the class and made it fun to sit through. I would take any other class by him. He can get political but his lectures are always so engaging and he is really a good person in and out of class.

Professor Fichtelberg is hands-down the best professor/teacher I've ever had. He reaffirmed my idea of majoring in Criminal Justice. He explains all of the material in a funny way that our generation can easily understand and relate to. There are 3 exams, attendance isn't mandatory but go because there aren't slides and you'll enjoy it.

Prof. Fichtelberg is great! His lectures are engaging and his exams are very clear and straightforward. Just make sure to study a little with flashcards! He gives you terms to know as well. He is a great guy too, very easy to talk to even outside of class. If you have the option to, take his CRJU class!!!!

He's funny and makes coming to class less of a chore. He has 3 exams only, which if you study for with his review sheet you'll be fine. He has a couple questions from in class examples but, class is not mandatory and easy to follow along with his book if missed

This is the best and my favorite class I have taken at UD. A lot of people say on here that Dr. Fichtelberg is a tough grader, but if you show up, read, and study, you will be completely fine. He is very passionate about the law and I was never bored in class. He's always willing to give you feedback or help. A must if considering law school!

My favorite professor I've ever taken, go to class, that's the only way you'll pass because he doesn't use slideshows, he does teach directly from the textbook so its a really good resource. Two midterms and One final are the only grades in the class, i found it incredibly easy! take this professor!!!!

He's great, the class is a bit unorganized but pay attention in lecture and at least scan the readings and you'll be fine. He really cares about the students and is very fun. Existentialism can be weird but he'll explain most of the stuff in class. Even if you can't get through a reading it won't matter as long as you come to class.
