I LOVED HIM! He was my most favorite teacher @ UHD thus fa!We did not use the book ONCE all of his test questions come from the notes ALOT of notes BUT guess what? He types them all out for you! Just print them out and follow along! He is caring,fun & cool. RECCOMEND HIM! TAKE HIM!! tell him Alex said so!

Great history teacher. Take great notes and its no problem. Tests were all essay and straight from the notes, plus he gives a good review.

Such a great professor! He is very entertaining and a really nice guy. His eyes sparkle and it makes him even hotter. I looked forward to his lectures and his quizzes/exams are not difficult, they come directly from lecture notes. GREAT GUY!!! Highly recommend him!

Dr. Gillete ROCKS. Hands down he is the best instructor I have ever been around. The tests are not easy, nor is the paper. But if you LISTEN to him and FOLLOW his instructions you will get an A. He provides the class with an outline of the course AND a synopsis of the lecture notes so you can focus on the lecture during class. TAKE THIS CLASS.

Dr. Gillette is not only a very engaging lecturer but he's a lot of fun! I recommend his classes for history majors and anyone who is interested in the subject! Moreover, he's doing a lot to change the history department at UHD.

Dr. Gillette is awesome! He's been my favorite teacher in college. I LEARNED more from him than any other teacher. The main reason being his passion and knowledge of the classes he teaches. The work that comes along with his class will come easy if you attend and pay attention. It won't be hard to pay attention, he makes the lectures interesting!!!

It's rare to find professors who actually care about their students like Dr. Gillette. His lectures are interesting and he has a ton of wealth to share. I walk away from his class with so much knowledge. I've learned far more from him than any other course at any school. But you will have to earn your grade but come on this is a junior college!

Dr. Gillette is a great teacher. Like the others said he is very passionate about the subject matter and he knows from experince how important it is to reach out to his students and help them in any way possible! If you are going to take a history class take him!! its worth it!!

I didn't care to much for him...he knows his stuff and made the class interesting...he was helpful...but his was rude at times. Got A's in my other classes, but his...messed up my GPA...I just didn't like him. 3390 class sucks and good luck for all you hist majors, b/c its mandatory ..he grades papers w/ a magnifying glass!! Be Prepared!

I took 5 classes from him and loved all of them. If you just go to class and pay attention ( which is not hard because he is really cute) you will make an A. TAKE THIS CLASS!!!!

He definitely makes class interesting, but, his expectations are super high-not only does he grade you on what you've learned, but he becomes this psycho ENGLISH professor and will grade on punctuation and grammer. My English profs weren't as bad as he is!

Best teacher at UHD, and the hardest paper grader. His lectures are packed and easy to follow. I never have trouble remembering his material, and his tests are awesome essay topics.If you are serious about history, you will like Gillette.

this was a great teacher i have to admit that i was a little skeptical about taking a women in the 19020s class but i have to say that i learned alot and his teahing style is so afrocentric that the whole class enjoyed professional manner plus he was so down to earth and he was able to tie his lectures into current times.Im taking him every semeste

He's an awesome history professor. Very easy to understand and talk to. I would HIGHLY recommend him to anyone who is looking at taking upper level history classes.

Dr. Gillette is everything as described on these posts. First, I know currently taking a low level course with him but we still had to write a 5 page paper. This was no problem since he wants us to write good papers. That only helps us. There's a ton of reading involved so you have to make sure you're prepared. Highly recommended.

Dr. Gillette is rude at times and not very nice, but he is good at what he does. He will piss you off or hurt your feelings many times before you learn what he wants you to do. In the end he will make you do it right.

Dr. Gillette is brilliant, helpful and entertaining. He will do whatever he can to help if a student puts forth effort. I plan to take as many of his courses as possible. HIGHLY SUGGESTED.

Took him a few semesters back for Nazi Germany, interesting class - great teaching methods, but grades papers harder than an English prof. YIKES! He is good, but I dont know what the big fuss was all about, he is just okay. Oh keep in mind, he doesn't own a t.v., hardly goes out - meaning he has nothing but time to really GRADE you!

Gillette: The Best A Man Can Get!

Dr. Gillette is the finest instructor I have ever had. I go out of my way to take his classes because he is engaging, hilarious, brilliant and incredibly helpful. THANK YOU UHD FOR GIVING THIS MAN TENURE!

I had him for Nazi Germany. Prior to the class I only took a slight interest in the subject. I'm not a history major, I'm communications major...I see all these posts about him being tough on papers, but you have to agree, it is helpful. I panicked every time I had to write but I came out of the class with strengthened writing skills.Great teacher!

Don't take this prof unless you're a History major or the subject is your whole world. Way overkill for the casually interested needing an elective. Prepare to spend extreme time on this class. Toward the end he wants us to login 2-3 times a day. Yeah, my job will love that - not. The paper...oh, prepare to sweat blood. This class was a mistake.

Dr. G is among the best Profs at UHD. His classes are interesting. He puts a lot of hard work into them and he's very helpful. If your job won't allow you to fulfill expectations of college coursework, you shouldn't enroll in classes. Don't listen to the naysayers, you will learn a lot and the work is average for an UPPER DIVISION class.

Prof. Gillette is not hard! You need to follow his instructions. I appreciate his detailed feedback on how to improve, not always you find such a dedicated teacher. I learned a lot and he has a very approachable personality.

Dr. Gillette is a great teacher, he goes beyond measures to help all of his students. If your writing is not the greatest, be prepared to go from C's D's and F's to A's! It is all about how much of an effort you put forth in his class.

Prof Gillette was amazing. I reallyyyyy hate history and he made it so interesting. I recommended him to everyone I know who hasn't taken a hist. class. Very very helpful and understanding. And his infatuation for his wife is so cute!!

He is an amazing prof.who really cares about his students outcome in life. If you take Hist Methods with him, he will explain the importance of learning how to write and how it will help you later. I also took him for Nazi Germany. His humorous and easy attitude keep everyone entertained. He only requires the work necessary to succeed, not excess.

Dr. Gillette is a great professor!! He cares deeply about his students, and will help them to succeed. He is a tough but extremely fair grader, but if you do the work he asks of you will do very well.

Dr. Gillette's Historical Methods course is something I will never forget. I still have his textbook. He will teach you how to get your point across without being too wordy. In the end, your writing will reach the next level. Grading is no joke, take this course serious.

Funny and kind of nutty. Has a passion for history and for teaching. Have taken several of his classes and have gotten all A's. Go to lectures, no text book for upper level courses. 1 term paper he edits and gives back to you to correct. Few fairly easy tests. Explains things in a very animated and interesting way. Kind of disorganized. Take him!

He will BUTCHER your paper, but then cut you a solid grade on it. Have a tough skin if your trying to improve your writing. The tests are a little tough, but grades are curved. Really good lectures.

Solid Professor. Essays are a pain, but actual grades come easy.

I took Dr. Gillette last semester. The class was sort of intimidating since I am not a history major, but still a lot of fun! Dr. Gillette's lecture are SUPER interesting! The tests and quizzes weren't hard, but the paper was, but I learned a lot!! I would defiantly take him again, especially considering he's kind of nerdy cute ;)

I took Gillette for Nazi Germany. His lectures are so amazing you won't want to miss class! You can find the books he assigns for reading on Amazon for $0.25 and up. ( I didn't spend more than $25 on text.) He also spends an enormous amount of time grading papers and gives great feedback. I highly recommend taking him.

Dr. Gillette's lectures are amazing, you won't want to miss them. He is a funny professor. His midterms and finals are pretty easy, but he gets you with the term paper. He grades them like we are grad students. Very tough grader, but he gives great feedback and improves your writing. He assigns four books and you can get them all for less than 25$.

I really like this Nazi Germany class. Lot of Lectures but they are interesting. He has a dry sense of humor that matches a history professor perfectly. He will scare you with all his instruction for the research paper but give it your best effort you will do fine. He can be a tough grader on your paper but he give good feedback for the rewrite.

Took Prof. Gillette's 5-week summer course online. Very fast paced. LOTS of lectures. 1-1500w essay. 50-60 question exams each week which is strictly from lecture material. Dr. Gillette does NOT teach from a textbook, he is passionate about teaching history. I have taken other history courses &didn't learn a thing, I actually learned in his class!

I took him for an online class. He is strict on writing, but he states this from the beginning of his course and lets you know his expectations. No textbook needed all information was uploaded onto Blackboard. He responds to emails quickly. His tests were challenging, and his coursework did require more time than my other classes. Good professor.

he's the best profesor I've had at UHD. the easiest grader? nope. the hardest? Nope. I'd say average. But I love the lectures, cause he gives really interesting information.

He's not the best, but not bad. Maybe a bit above average. i suppose I can't complain. My paper graded sorta sucked at first, but he helped me alot to improve and I got a B on it.

One of my best professors. he didnt give me a hassle when I turned my paper in late. He's really available to help. Tests are pretty easy. Really marks up your term paper, but at least I learned alot.

I took this guy like three years ago, and then again this semester. he's got a LOT easier in grading. I got a lot higher grade on my term paper this semester than I did before. Other students I've mentioned this to say the same. I guess he got the message.

Well, I didn't make the greatest grade on my paper for his class, but to be honest, he did give me alot of feedback I think will help me in the future. I guess that's what his thing is. He is really passionate in his lectures, really cool stuff, funny stories. he reads alot.

HIST4350 History of World War II was a real treat for me, and worth remembering! Dr. Gillette's course material is comprised of well detailed lectures based on multiple points of view, and great books from the views of soldiers of the European and Pacific Theaters. You'll learn a detailed perspective of what it was like to be in the war.

He's good in the lectures, they are interesting. But you have to write a paper for this class, and I don;t like to write.

I like that he answers emails fast, and seems to really care about his students. Also, he makes you write a paper all correctly. But he says he puts a lot of time into fixing it up, and that it will improve our other paper grades in classes and in our jobs. Sure hope he's right.

This professor gave great lectures and clear feedback on my term paper. He is very fair and gave a thorough breakdown of American history after the civil war. I strongly recommend you take this professor.

I took him for Hist 1306. What I liked about him is you can tell he really cares that you learn and better better.

I thought the class was the best I ever took for sn online class. He gives lots of extra credit.I learned alot and I'm thinking about being a history major. He really cares about me, and writes me to help alot. He said he spent along time working with me on my paper, and finally looks awesome.

Dr Gillette is one of the best history professors I've taken in my 4 years at UHD, he REALLY knows his stuff and gives the BEST lectures on WW2 That being said he is a hard and strict grader, 3 exams all easy 30q multiple-choice, the paper on the other hand requires A LOT of time and research, do not shrug it off! This class is a history class, yet one of the main points of focus is writing. You provided all of the tools needed to write a great paper. The tools provided may seem overwhelming, yet when you take the time to apply them, you will find they will serve you well on the rest of your college journey. Prof Gillette genuinely cares and encourages.

Not afraid to think out loud with you, Dr. Gillette to me he presents a grounded, informative, introspective, but most of all entertaining method of exploring history. Dr. Gillette will make you a better writer. Dr. Gillette will go off on tangents with us often causing some lectures to feel more like organic conversations, which I really enjoy!

Honestly, I really liked the way he taught the class. He's very passionate about teaching history and as long as you go to class you'll know what's on the tests. You'll just have to take a lot of notes since the only grades are 4-5 tests.

I really enjoyed his class. He does not read from a text book, he provides a study guide that is very useful and helpful on tests. Definitely try to make it to class because he does base his tests on the things he says in class. There are 3 books you're required to read, but he discusses them in class. 4 tests all online and one essay.

Gillette is a great professor. Some students hate the fact that a history professor focuses so much on writing skills. I took his class because eI am a history major and writing is the best thing that I do, and I wanted constructive feedback on how to write better.

At first his voice may sound squeeky or off but trust me this guy is really chill and funny, curses at times but thats what makes you feel connected and just have a little laugh , overall the best professor so far.

He makes lectures super fun, he says things we're all thinking out loud. His lectures take up the whole class time, and it is important to write notes because most of the info from the lecture is on the exams. Not a hard class at all. Attendance isn't strict but I recommend going so you don't miss out on a lot. Overall he was amazing!! 10/10

Great professor! His lectures were always engaging, and he brought a lot of humor to class. He really values participation and always makes space for us to share our thoughts. Overall, this was a great class and definitely one of my favorites!
