Really good teacher. Only have to give 2 speeches, 2 papers, than exams. Good lecturer.
Extremely good professor. I would recommend taking him. He is easy, and if you take good notes you wont need the textbook.
He was good at teaching what was required. He made sure not to build adveserial relationships with the students and failed to realize life is not always a tidy package. I would not recommend this class to anyone with a full-time job. He fails to realize evening classes are supposed to HELP furthur our knowlege. POINTLESS, nothing learned.
Very clear. Good lecturer. Strict about time and attendance. It was a great class!
very clear when talking. test are easy. How ever, the paper he gives will make or brake you. he want you to mostly walk about your score in the survey he hand out, but he scoring is really tough. I tried so hard in this class, never miss a day. Now, I'll be happy to pass with a C if I could.
I'll say this: his class is not easy. He's a tough grader and he expects high performance. I may not finish the semester with a great grade. But, he's a fabulous lecturer and you WILL learn your stuff. Super high-quality material presented elegantly and skillfully. If you want to master the material, it's totally worth the risk to take him.
He is awesome!!!! Great professor!!!!! 2 exams, 2 papers and 2 speeches... One can only miss two classes max and always gotta be on time! If you take notes you won't need the textbook at all... I really enjoyed this class... I learned a lot from it!
Great professor, extremely clear about his assignments, take good notes and you will receive A!
He's great. You have to work hard to get an A though. His lectures are clear and if you take good notes, and study hard the tests shouldn't be that hard at all. The tests are multiple choice. He's a really tough grader when it comes to the essays. But, overall, he's a pretty awesome lecturer and professor.
All you have to do is show up and be willing to succeed n his class and you will well. He is very clear in his expectations and reiterates them several times over the course of the semester. Take good notes and keep deadlines and you will pass. One of the best professors I have ever had.
He's such a good lecturer. His notes are everything you need to get an A on his tests. Very easy to get along with too.
Do not take. He is so anal when it comes to attendance. I was five minutes late when a huge assignment was due and he did not want to accept it. I received a D because he gave a zero for that assignment.
Attendance is very important, and turn in the work on time. The book is not required. Take the notes and study them because that'll be on the midterm and the final. He's very nice and helpful. :)
Communication is what Aaron does best. If I had a problem, meeting with him was never an issue. Take good notes, pay attention in class, and he makes the class fun. The material presented is super clear, just take good notes. The speeches weren't 100% about the knowledge behind it, just deliver the comm. methods you've learned in class. Good guy
Pretty straight forward, no bs kind of guy. I did not enjoy the class because I had no interest in it whatsoever, but he is a great professor and knows what he's talking about. As long as you take notes and study them, do a decent job on the two 5 min long speeches, you will pass the class no problem.
I did not like prof Aron. He is so hard and he gave us so much stress. Prof Aron does not meet the requirements to teach Speech in the college. we ended up dropping his. Prof Aron was very impolite( Not really straight forward) . One time time he brought his son to the class that I think it was very disrespectful to students.
He's funny and is very helpful if you ask for help. BUT not an easy A. But he is very reasonable when grading. Classes are interesting b/c he's a funny person. I recommend him, he's a good teacher. He knows his stuff.
His class is not an easy A you have to work hard on the assignments to earn an A. But he is a great teacher very organized, straight forward, and is willing to review things if you don't understand. I recommend taking his class.
At first he is a hardass to everyone because he wants you to follow his strict guidelines which are crucial in today's society. Attendance is very important as well. Wanna skip class? just drop it. His exams are not hard you just have to be good with taking the notes. Book not needed. Take him if you want to gain something out of a class.
Honestly I think Johnson is one of the must-take professors at MC. The information is relevant and very interesting. He won't take bs, but he's also willing to have class discussions and joke around. 2 speeches, a short paper, 1 hw, and 2 tests. Attendance is mandatory, and you're late once class starts. Fun class tho, if you ask q's and discuss
Prof. Johnson is such an awesome Professor! He literally tells you everything you need to know about the class on the first day and constantly reminds you throughout the semester. You must be on time for class! But as long as you take good notes and show up on time you will do well in his class.
Professor Johnson was very good. He is very up front on the first day- do not be late, do not miss more than 2 classes, do not take his class if you are not fluent in reading and writing American English. Material was very relevant. 3 papers, 1 presentation, mid-term & final. He's like a drill sergeant the first day, but has a great sense of humor.
Aaron Johnson definitely is a character, he can add humor to anything. He is great at explaining the material well so you can understand what is being taught. He gives study guides and everything he says is on the test. His grading is really rough, make sure you go to him with questions and make sure you know what you are doing. I recommend him.
Don't take him if you want an easy A. He grades very hard on the 2 speeches. The tests are very easy, but everything else requires a lot of effort. He's not good with email. His classes are enjoyable and he can be funny. Attendance is important, he will take points off if you miss more than 3 classes. DO NOT BE LATE, or you're counted as absent.
Somehow managed and received a satisfactory grade. This class definitely requires a lot of effort. Professor Johnson is a tough grader on the two speeches.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. Talks way too much. Expects you to be 15 min early. Inflexible, unprofessional, no excuses or absences allowed. Will not provide make up material. If you miss a class too bad for you. Does not like questions. Material is way over the top for a speech class. His class is not easy. Standards for the class are unreasonable.
HORRIBLE.
Professor Jonson is childish, he often gets agitated, angry and throws temper tantrums in the classroom. Please don’t take this professor. I plan to write a complaint to his department head, and to the Montgomery Collaged dean. It is unacceptable to act, or treat students in unprofessional manner.
I'm not sure about these recent posts. Johnson is pretty easy and laid back if you show up on time and follow directions. He is clear in expectations. He doesnt take any bs though, but treats us like college students. Not every student gets it. I would recommend if you want to take a real college class
Awesome teacher who is very straight forward and clear on expectations
Awesome teacher who can actually have you looking forward to being in class
Very impersonal which makes it very hard to ask for help on any project and makes you feel stupid if you don't understand it. He is arrogant and thinks his way is the only way to do things. He is rude to others, his lectures are soooooo long and sooo boring but the tests are easy(common sense, really) Scratch him off your list of available profs
Johnson is clear and does a good job giving out a lot of notes. He doesnt hold your hand, and wont take any whining. he puts on a tough show the first day of class with all the rules, but he is not that tough. you are held responsible for your actions. he can be a lot of fun if you engage him, he will not force you to talk.
must go to class- intimidating the first day of class but hes cool as hell you only have 1 speech the entire semester have 3 essays which are all about yourself- easy TAKE DOWN HIS NOTES BC THE QUIZZESEXAMS ARE MULTIPLE CHOICE OF THE NOTES loved this class
He's a very strict grader but all his lectures are clear and he always repeats the important stuff 5 or 6 times so that way you'll write it down. whatever he says or repeas WRITE IT DOWN!!! IT WILL HELP YOU FOR THE EXAMS. EXAMS are easy as long as you take good notes
He is Excellent! He actually holds the slackers to standards. And the class is relevant to life and interesting.
Overall, this class was fine. He sets the tone right away that he's in charge. I worked really hard, never missed a class, studied and I felt like no matter what he wasn't handing out A's. I couldn't even read his feedback on my speech reports, which I found frustrating. Tests were easy and he's clear about what he expects. Lighten up, Aaron.
Cold at first which could be interpreted as distant andor professional, but warms up as he goes. Very clear, organized, detail oriented. I didn't think he was paying attention to me until I started talking to him at the end of the semester. He actually knew me, quoted my papers to me, was willing to help. You have to go to him, but he will help
Don't ever be late and you will be fine.
Great teacher! I loved this class. I had to work hard and study a lot for the midterm and final, but other than that there's not much work just lectures. But if you're not there the second class starts don't bother showing up, so if you're the type of person who's always late don't take it. Johnson's a cool dude, but he doesn't tolerate laziness!
Today was the first day and he does not care if youre dying or halfway dead you better be on time and in every class, if your life is already stressful do not take this class.
Best professor I have ever had! Even though you have to go to him for help he will do anything to help. He is clear and straight to the point with everything he assigns and the tests and quizzes he gives a study guide that has everything you need. He can be a hard grader, but gives you what you deserve. Highly recommend him NO COMPLAINTS!
If you can't get to class 5 minutes early- this prof. is NOT for you. If tardiness is not a problem you have, TAKE COMM. WITH JOHNSON. He is such a brilliant professor. I have learned and grown incredulously in his course. He is a tough grader, but if you really apply yourself and work hard, you will get an A. Best professor I have ever had!!
Prof. Johnson was ok. You cannot be late to his class, and you will be behind if you miss one class. He does not use powerpoint or any visuals besides the white board, which can get boring. Overall though he is very clear when lecturing. Your notes and the book are really all you have for studying. He can kind of a tough grader.
He made you show up. You lose 30 points everytime you're even a second late.
Johnson is very strict about students coming late to class. If you're not there at start time, he locks the door. He can be a little tough on papers and speeches but is very clear about what he expects, if you follow what he says, you'll do fine. Take good notes, his tests match exactly the words he says in class, so they're easy if you study.
He's really strict on being on time, but very respectful. You have to attend class to pass and study for a couple hours before each exam. Put effort into work and you will see good grades and vice versa. He's very clear, but can be intimidating.
Aaron Johnson is a great prof, he is funny and has great lectures.. There are 2 writing assignments, 2 tests, and 2 presentations. Make sure you UNDERSTAND the assignment, and do exactly what it says. Overall...a great teachers who knows the topic.
two speeches, two writing assignments, and two tests in the spring semester. Clear grading criteria; do whats specified and you'll get an A. no group projects, tests are easy. Plenty of time for each assignment
He's a really genuine professor. He gives 2 papers, 2 speeches, and 3 exams. Although, if you do terrible, you're in trouble. He doesn't give any extra credit. But, he makes the lectures understandable and sometimes enjoyable and is clear on what is expected for each assignment. However, he's also a really tough grader on the assignments too.
Very intellectual professor. You must follow all assignments and speeches guidelines to get an A. The 3 tests are 33 multiple choice questions which are very easy as long as you study the material you have written down. He gave our class extra credit for filling out a survey and it's very helpful if you're on the borderline between two grades.
Aaron is very clear on day one of what he expects from everyone to do well. Dont be late or you wont be let in the class. His lectures were very interesting and he keeps the classes attention. And yes you have to actually try on his assignments cause he is a tough grader but thats how it should be anyway. If your a lazy person you will not do well.
His lectures were really good but sometimes he would be really rude to people. He is very funny and makes his lectures kinda fun. DONT EVER BE LATE OR SKIP CLASS!!!
If you are expecting a professor that is understanding and flexible Aaron is NOT. Our papers were due to 1:00 pm when the class began... if you got there by 1:01 he WOULDN'T accept the paper and you will get a 0. People lost up to 100 points for not turning the paper at 1:00 sharp. The information was clear, but don't expect him to care about you.
Very knowledgeable! Very passionate about the subject. Installs discipline in his students. He is very clear about his expectations, and his expectations are fair and achievable. Only concern is that he talks a little fast. But great teacher, I learned a lot from him.
He is an amazing professor. There are two speeches, 3 multiple choice non cumulative tests, and no group projects. Everything on the test is taught in his lectures. Take good notes and you will get an A. DON'T BE LATE TO CLASS!
He's very strict on being on time unlike other teachers who let students come into class thirty minutes late. Whatever is on the study guide will be on the test. Take really good notes and you will pass this class with no problem!
I enjoyed having Dr. Johnson as a professor this semester. He treated the class like the adults they believe themselves to be (meaning he closed the door when class started and expected people to be on time and responsible). He could be a hard grader, but if you follow the directions/criteria he gave, there would be no way you would fail.
Strict, funny, and weird.
He is not an easy grader at all. Doesn't give extra credit & doesn't care about his students or how they were doing. Only thing he does when he teaches is write the topics & just speak about it and expects you to write everything he says. Very tough class. Only a few people (about 2-4) had A's or B's out of the 25 people that were in that class.
Funny guy, very strict on attendance though so make sure to come to class. Like if you come one minute late he counts you absent
I'm sorry but I'm just not a fan of his teaching. He goes off on tangents about theories that, lets be honest, won't be used in most communications related jobs. I'm not blaming him for the boring subject material but I am holding him accountable for making this class so much harder than it needs to be. On our first paper 1/4 of the class failed.
For comm 108 he might have been a great professor but for comm 250 he is easily the worst professor I've ever had. He's rude, he's unreasonable, and he doesn't do power points so if you're a mediocre note taker, you're screwed. I can't recommend him at all. Stay away from him if you can for comm 250.
Tough & Picky, but very clear and organizes everything for you, if you pay attention. As someone who has transferred I can honestly say few professors did a better job preparing me for my BA program. This class was not for slackers, they struggled. Looks like he has some now. He will work with you if you are semi intelligent, but no freebies.
Dr. Johnson is one of my favorite professors. He is very funny so even though his classes are lecture-based, you won't dread going to his class. His study guides are straightforward and very similar to the tests. Gives great feedback on assignments, but if he makes comments on your papers you need to ask him what the words say its chicken scratch
Lets get one thing straight. I'm not a bad student. Aaron Johnson sure makes me feel like one though. I have all A's and B's in every other class but this one. He doesn't have any notes about the material, he just talks which is not helpful to someone with ADHD. He's easily the worst prof I've had. He's rude and he doesn't care about his students.
I tried my best of the first assignments but somehow I still did bad on them, like other students in my class. Study the study guide for the tests. It's a lot of information. He has no powerpoints, he just talks the entire class. He is very strict . No late papers. If you come to class late on the day an assignment is due, he will not take it.
I am a Deans List student in college, and I have not had a class this difficult before. This professor is extremely rude and discouraging. If you ask questions in class he will pretty much attack your question and make you feel stupid for asking. He is very arrogant and prideful, and should not be teaching. Do NOT take this Professor.
BE ON TIME! if you're a minute late he won't let you attend class. he closes the door exactly when class starts. I was a few minutes late to the 1st exam and he did not let me take it. Overall I did well. When ppl ask questions he normally says, "really, what didn't you understand? Is my lecture not straightforward"? He's constantly rude
He constantly jokes about his water, once you attend class you'll see what I am talking about. No Textbook. No powerpoints, he writes everything on the whiteboard. Take notes of you won't pass. He takes his time to lecture so everyone can follow. he's arrogant & extremely rude too. There is no HW nor extra credit. He's a tough grader. Goodluck
I took him online. He didn't use powerpoints/videos. He bullet everything on BB announcement... He did not give any feedback but overall he seems nice. No BB discussions. easy class. No HW reminder: this was an online class...
This is the worst professor Ive ever had in my academic career. Hes rude and hes not helpful in any way. He makes communications sound like astrophysics and he cant explain things well no matter how basic your question may be.
the class is not difficult if you do the following: attend class, ask questions, follow along, and make sure your notes are clear and understandable. what people have said below my comment is true too. He is rude, No HW, does not use powerpoint etc. everything is verbal, and I totally agree with the water bottle comment haha.
On a positive note, his class & syllabus is very organized... but that's about it. One of the rudest and most arrogant people I've ever met. He talks down to his students. Makes Comm WAY more complex than it needs to be, especially in an intro class. I dropped his class after a few weeks.
1) Show up(on time) 2) Take notes 3)Do study guides 4)Get an A
Prof. Johnson was a really good professor, he was always available outside of class and responded to questions in class. His tests and assignments are very straightforward. I really enjoyed this class and would take his class again.
Aaron is very fun. He makes comm a little harder than it needs to be but the class is very passable if you pay attention and take notes.
hypercritical, blunt, rude. Makes personal attacks and is not understanding. 9:29 or anything there after couunts as an absence.
He doesnt care if youre sick or anything serious. If you are a second late its an absence and a zero for anything due. Disrespects students
Professor Johnson is alright. He can be quite rude to students but will help you if he knows youre putting in the work.
Whatever you do, do not take him for communications. He is very discouraging and unhelpful as well. During a speech assignment, I asked him many questions b/c I did not understand the criteria yet he was very vague. Hes also just plain rude and his attendance policy is ridiculous. Take comm with another teacher, seriously. Learn from my mistakes.
I used some of his interview considerations and received a job offer. He teaches some relevant stuff for the workplace. He expects you to show up on time, not unreasonable, a lot like a full time job.
just dont take him, dont do it to yourself
He was a tough grader, he didnt use powerpoints at all, funny at times
Easily the worst professor I've ever had bar none. He's arrogant, he's rude, and he's teaches like the internet doesn't exist. There are no powerpoints at all. You just listen to him drone on. Don't take him at all. Take Piskapas instead. She's fun, kind, and a better teacher than he ever will be. I'd give him 0/5 if I could. Just an absolute joke.
Hypocritical and rude. He told a student in our class that she asked a dumb question and that he believes in dumb questions because of what she said. A month later, he said that there are no stupid questions and that he wants our class to open up and talk to him. That same girl called him out when he said that. Don't bother w/ him. Has no respect.
His class is fun and enjoyed the topics we hit. He makes sure everyone is understanding the material. if you ask a 'dumb' question he'll let you know that you're stupid. YOUR CLASS NOTES IS YOUR STUDY GUIDE. The class is not hard unless you study. He is bald and overall the class is chill.
I took this class over the summer (ONLINE) and he is not responsive at all. It took him a while to reply to my emails (some he chose to ignore) which it did not contribute to my success in the class. There was No need for a textbook nor group discussions. The material was easy to follow but he assigned a lot of work in a short period.
Very clear with instructions, accessible during office hours, looks very scary but he's pretty chill and funny once you get to know him. would recommend re-writing class notes for best success on exams
He seems scary but hes not. Your notes are the test. You have a quiz EVERY single class. No use of PowerPoints but it turned out fine for me. Id take him again
Johnson is one of the worst teachers/professors I've ever had in my life. All he does is lecture. No visual aids, just him talking. He's in love with himself. I recently graduated with my BA and have had tough teachers. He's not tough he's full of himself. He told me once my questions were dumb and wondered why my class was quiet.
Beware this is a lecture class. All he does is talk, but I found this class interesting because of him. Yes, he is kinda full of himself, but he is funny. He does kinda seem scary, but he's not. Just focus on your work, take good notes because your tests are on your notes. This class was fairly easy to me, but I didn't do well on a presentation.
This professor does not know how to respect students. He is very good at ignoring your emails and will not answer unless he thinks that he should. Even if you show up to class, do all the work and are always on time he will somehow hate you. His class is lecture heavy and will never use online materials. He does not show you your grades.
Professor Johnson was a great professor. I would recommend him to anyone taking electives or communication classes. He is funny and knows how to explain the material very well. He is very straight forward about what he expects from you. He gives understanding of the subject you are talking about better than most professors out there.
He is pretty organized and laid back in the remote format. I could work at my own pace, just don't miss due dates. Easy class, gets grades back to you quickly. He is pretty responsive.
The upside with johnson is he is clear organized and responsive to questions. The downside is he is strict on due dates and theere is no extra credit. He does not hold your hand, but he made the class easy for me.
One of the worst teachers ive encountered. I took this class online due to covid, however he did communicate with his students at all had only 2-3 zooms this semester; and when he would be reached out to over email, he was always disrespectful and would wait DAYS to respond. Also you wont know your grade until midterm or final grades are released
This class was very straight forward. He gave us all the resources and told us the due dates and we were on our own. There were four projects but they were very easy. He is always accessible outside of class
The professor was a cool guy don't get me wrong, but he was horrible at responding to emails, he grades very tough, nothing was on the study guide, and he makes you feel stupid when you ask a question. I have tried to ask him for help multiple times and he was not there to help. You could d succeed with a professor like this, but it's hard.
There are three main assignments in which the majority of the class got the same letter grade in all three assignments. The assignments are semi-easy to follow but you'll probably end w/ a grade you didn't want or expect. Feedback is harsh. You take notes every class and the notes are on the exam so make sure you show up.
This class was really difficult, but he did tell us at the beginning of the year. Emailing him for me he responded on time which I find important. It's best if you speak with him privately because you'll probably get a better understanding of things since it's a one-on-one conversation. Not a bad professor but his teaching style could be better.
He will not hold your hand and very straightforward but he was always available when you needed help. The exams are exactly what's on the notes!!! The class was manageable and basically asynchronous. Your grade really depends on how much effort you put in the assignments. Also make sure you submit your assignments on time!!
Grades presentations well, focusing on the content over the delivery.
Professor Johnson is an amazing professor! His notes are very clear and as long as you study the notes provided, you will pass the exams. He gives great feedback if you ask and his lectures are very interesting.
Professor Johnson makes the class easy to understand. He provides note outlines for each chapter and tells you exactly what to write for notes word for word. The exams are worded just like the notes too. Just study the notes and you're golden. Lectures are interesting, there's always great discussions happening in my class.
Professor Johnson is probably the best professor I've taken a class with so far in my time at MC. He is a straightforward honest dude, who makes the class fun by having actual discussions and joking around with the class. He gives you lecture outlines so as long as you are paying attention you will be just fine. Highly recommend taking him
Professor Johnson is an exceptional professor who makes learning enjoyable by encouraging discussions and adding humor. He provides lecture outlines that, if followed, ensure success.
He outlines all fo the notes covered on handouts accessible online and in class, making sometimes challenging content more clear. He is very organized and holds everyone to the class schedule. You have to study for the quizzes and exams, but its all in the notes he gives. Sometimes he gives good examples relating the ideas to life.
By far one of the best professors I had. He makes the class interesting, fun, and enjoyable. I found myself excited to attend his class. There are only 5 assignments that determine your grade. If you follow directions, you'll do well. Exams are exactly what is on the study guild so make sure you study. Attendance is mandatory, try not to miss class
Not a very hard class, the lectures were interesting, and he was very good at reading people. He'd read over papers multiple times before they were submitted, and made lectures interesting. Exams were based on notes so pay attention.
Professor Johnson is a fantastic teacher and I would recommend his class to anyone in the communication field. If you come to class, participate, and do the work you will get an A that simple.
He is very straightforward and easy to understand for lectures.
I wouldn't say that he is a tough grader, but the amount of points worth for each question on the exams are unbelievable and would cause a huge damage on your grade. In order to pass the class, you would truly need to study as much as possible for the exams.
Professor Johnson is very knowledgeable, and his lectures are very heavy, attendance is very important as well in order to get the best notes. He's a really tough grader. Textbook wasn't really necessary in the class the only information you need really is from the notes he gives in class.
Attendance is important since he doesn't post the lectures on BB so make sure you're not absent or have a friend who can send you lecture notes!! Also not very many assignments and doesn't offer extra credit but there's weekly quizzes. Be ready to study A LOT.
Awesome Professor, I would easily recommend him to anyone wanting to take a class.
Professor Johnson's down to earth style of teaching explains the importance of communication skills very well. His lectures are note-based and start promptly, so arrive ON TIME. He values every minute and begins right away. The class is manageable as long as you attend lectures regularly. Tests are based on notes—Quizlet flashcards help A LOT.
Professor Johnson's COMM108 is a well-structured class with engaging lectures. While exams can be challenging, his clear notes and helpful study tools like unstuck AI make it manageable. Attendance is important, but the effort is worthwhile.
Gives great outlines before speeches to help you prepared and be successful. Quizzes are doable if you attend class, actively engage during class, and write clear notes during lectures. Great teacher and is highly respected among students and colleagues.
Overall, one of my favorite professors. He comes in with energy that keeps you engaged and he teaches the material thoroughly. Don't be late to his classes because he starts right at the said time for your class. Every class I laughed at least once and the class could say the same.
Funny Guy. He does talk fast but you get used to it. If you make an effort to show he will make sure you understand what he tells you. His assignments are easy, and interesting. I will say his feedback is horrible to say the least, you can never understand it and is very little. But he makes sure to address class issues so that is a plus. HighlyRec
TAKE HIS CLASS!!! one of the best professors at mc. Just attend class and participate and you'll be fine
no extra credit most of your grade comes from exams. No homework, no make ups, no nothing just exams and speeches and one group project good luck on passing his class STAY AWAY. believe the rating he has terrible.
Professor Johnson is amazing, I took his class for credit and I thought it was a waste of my time until I actually went to the first class. He is very prepared, we used to ask questions all the time and he always took the time to explain it to us and debate us on it. The speeches are easy and if you take notes during lectures you'll pass the exam.
An amazing, engaging, and humorous professor. I enjoyed this class, and I will certainly miss it, since my class was fun. However, this course will tear you apart if you are absent for one day or fail one assignment. As much as I liked the professor, this was one of the hardest classes. Weekly quizzes and tough exams. He is VERY lecture-heavy.
He makes it very clear what his expectations are from day one, if you don't think you can meet them, don't take him. Make sure you pay attention to important information, he gets annoyed by people who can't follow basic instructions. As long as you can do that, he's funny and engaging, I have many funny quotes from his lectures :)
