Loved this class. he explained things in way we could understand. He let us rewrite papers and his grading was helpful in pointing out where we went wrong and what we should fix. Would definitely recommend this class.
Great teacher. Easy to get along with. Really helpful. I can't remember the class name, but I took it back in Fall 2004.
awesome class! great teacher. always there to help you out whenever you need it. answers emails usually the same day. overall, great class.
very cool and understandable one of the best english teachers ever!
Great teacher. I took his class during summer and learned a lot. Make sure to read the text because that's what you'll be quized and tested on. Get a good group, because you'll be spending quite a bit of time together.
Very nice guy. He made the class as interesting and fun as you could ever make an English class. Gave lots of personal help on essay's too. He made sure everyone was on the right track to pass. Good guy
i thought this guy was awesome! best english teacher i've had in a looooong time.
Lanser is one of the nicest teachers, but this has to be one of the least worthwhile classes. The lectures are of little meaning and the class discussion is pretty shallow. If you want an easy GE then maybe this is an ok class. I dunno why, but I was expecting more.
If you have patience enough to deal with his sparatic teaching style, then you should do just fine. Otherwise, it's a directionless class, so you may be disappointed if you were looking for more than just an easy A.
Wow, these people are seriously mistakened. This guy has his favorites, so if you can QUICKLY become one. We had the best presentation HANDS down if you ask anyone in our class, but this guy still didnt give us the best grade (incidentily, another group did better) He's a pretty nice guy, just don't get on his bad side. Take Christiansen instead.
he was a great teacher. i thought his class was very easy to pass. my group did a presentation and we got full credit on it! it was so easy and fun too. they only bad things were the reader responses although they were easy but timely. overall he was a GREAT teacher and easy.
take this class over the summer. without the information being condensed, you'll be bored to death. the class is super easy, and he's a great guy, but it's not at all challanging and there's no reason to waste an entire semester on a class you'll breeze thru in only a month.
i took him 1st semester and i got my only A. the reading and blackboard assignments are boring but as long as u go to class and try you'll be fine. he lest you redo papers if you dont like the grade so thats nice, and there are no tests.
Maybe not as easy as the other english professors but you will actually learn something. Great professor and awesome guy. Take it over the summer in order to condense lecture time. You will leave the class with more confidence in you business writing abilities.
great teacher. Talks quietly so sit in front and be sure to drink coffee if you have night class because his voice is very mystical. Lots of fun to be around though and funny! Helps out as much as he possibly can! Always a joy to be around!
He is a great professor and extremely helpful. I definitely recommend this professor. He likes students who work hard, and helps those who ask questions. He is a really nice and down to earth guy.
I loved his class because I felt like I got a lot out of it. My writing skills defintely improved. I loved that we wrote about topics much different from other classes because it challenged you to think on a whole new level. He is very helpful and fair at grading. definitely take this class, you will learn a lot!
He is a very nice guy and is very lienent on due dates and will usually push them back to ensure better quality of writing. Not too many assignments, only 2 tests.
Great teacher, more than willing to help any students who needed it.
He's a really good teacher. It's about quality not quantity. He lets you revise your essays if you want for a higher grade. Class is mandatory and if you do the work, you'll pass with at least a B. He's pretty funny too and encourages his students to really think. I highly recommend you take him.
He lets you revise your 3 essays, which are all fairly simple. If you're not sure about something he will help you, and if you are sure, he'll offer help anyway. He's pretty mellow. Nice guy; kind of creeps me out but I would recommend him.
Great professor. Very hot. lol. but yeah i did learn a lot from him.
ratings said EASY, which it was, but should have included a heads up on the workload. not too hard, but very time consuming to get the documents done correctly. must read text. quizzes on chapters about once a week. easy midterm/final-- writing.
Go to class everyday, otherwise he'll take points off for everything you did, which can bump down your grade a lot, and it'll be useful information that you'll miss.
Class wasn't too difficult, but he assigned a lot of work. Routine document homework was tedious, 16 were due throughout the term and wouldn't be accepted unless they were deemed "perfect". Midterms weren't too bad, he even let us take our final exam home and work on it for a week before turning it in. Lots of group work (including a big report)
Aaron makes the class pretty fun, he doesn't give you any test or final. But you do have to do all the assignments that he gives and you only have to do 3 major papers for the class which isn't hard at all.
overly cocky, but assignments are fair.
he is the greatest teacher ever!!!! i would def re-take this class and i do recommend everyone to take a class with him. very helpful and if you do your work you will pass the class with an A! responds very fast to emails nd he always has time for questions!
Easy 4 unit class. Its worth it taking it instead of 1001. Easy essay asignments and lets u turn em in until its good!(like 3drafts) only 3 main essays. No final.no quzes no tests.small reading assignmetns once in a wile. NOT AN ONLINE COURSE.once in a wile u dnt hav to go to class but meet on Blakbord and turn online hw wen u can!(same day)Got an A
Lanser is by far the best teacher I have ever had for an English course. This class was easy yet challenging in it's own way. I loved it. I recommend taking this course with Lanser.
The best english class thus far. Lanser makes the class interesting and is very helpful if you need his help. He made the class feel somewhat like a family. You only have 3 papers to write, and a few minor reading assign. here and there, with a lil online work. It's all very simple and everything is on blackboard
The class was chill the first semester of ENGL 1007. But then wham the second semester he has us do a lot of stuff, but its manageable.
Cool teacher, he's pretty cute and you have to read all the assigned readings and hes really helpful for your essays
Best English Professor I've had so far! This class is so interesting. Class discussions are interesting. He is strict when he needs to be strict, but he is lenient when he needs to be. The best part of the class is that he allows you to correct your essay again to improve your grade. Love him and the class !
He is a great teacher! I recommend him to anybody that hates English.
Easy class, the professor is awesome and funny. He is very helpful and just do your work.
Great teacher nice and helpful! He is easy but you do learn as you go along; yet so easy you don't realize it much.. Takes a lot of time in each essay or writing project. Also very easy going guy to talk to about advice regarding school etc- genuinely wants to help you.
Amazing teacher! He is very helpful! The first semester the textbooks that he requires are needed but for the second semester not really. Take him. Overall great English teacher!
On the first day he will tell you that no matter what you do you will never get an A. To me, going in with that mentality is a breeding ground for failure. I am a 4.0 student and I dropped him bc he is far fetched and impractical. I work hard for my A. I refuse take him ever again. STAY AWAY if your GPA is important to you. Nothing is good enough.
If you're looking for a life lecture every single class, here's the teacher for you. Sometimes he just doesn't GET TO THE POINT ALREADY. I've had instances where he has made me so annoyed and confused at the same time, I just want to cry. His attitude can be very iffy (like almost PMSing at some points during class).
We call him A-Aron. Pretty good teacher. Long lectures but its ok. Funny sometimes. Make sure to read emails before asking dumb questions in class, he hates it. He is helpful and there for you to give advice. Mostly group projects. But overall a cool teacher.
Professor Lanser is probably my favorite professor this semester, he has a good sense of humor which is a nice touch. My writing improved really well in the last couple of months with him. His lectures may be long, but they are informational and needed, people who do not listen to his lectures are the ones who are most likely failing, just sayin
I had professor Lanser last year and I felt like I should write a review on how awesome his class was. Lanser is very approachable and is always willing to help. He's extremely funny and makes class interesting enough to where you wouldn't want to miss it. Hoping to take Englishn 2000 with him as well.
Basically every class you just sit and talk in groups so the classes are really easy. There are three essays which take decent effort but he grades super tough. After the assignment he lets you redo it for a better grade but I never knew anyone who got above a B on the paper. I worked my butt off and got a B. He even says you won't get an A.
Pretty irritating person to deal with. He'll grade your paper, but barely give you any guidance on how to fix it. I had to go to my freshman year English prof for advice. 3 essays, & these reading journals from the textbook that are do at the end of the semester. advice: stay on top of everything or else you'll fall very, very far behind
He can be rude to students and can jump to conclusions. Barely explains how you can make your papers better. His go to expressions are "Annotate" or "Add more detail". He has told me my work was bad, then gave no feedback on how to make it better. I wouldn't recommend his class.
Mr. Lanser is a great teacher! He was not hard at all. Take him if you can. If you put in the effort, he will like you and you will get a good grade. Likes to answer students questions. Have not had one test this semester, no EC. Likes to do most to all assignments on the computer. You turn in a portfolio at the end with all of your work.
He is really nice, always tries to be funny but kind of isn't. Don't be afraid to ask for help!
Taking his stretch english class was probably one of the best things I've done. He doesn't overload on homework and takes things slowly through out the semester. Funny guy and very kind and helpful with any questions needed.
The pace was nice and slow. He is a chill guy, but won't accept any late work. Most assignments can be completed in class. He does discussion boards on Bb. For those first time students, if you like a nice easy A this is the class. However, it is a two-semester class so if you want to finish in one semester don't take this class.
This class consists of 3 short essays, in-class group work and an in-class final essay. Really not that bad. Not a lot of reading for an english class. Great Class and I highly recommend this professor for ENGL 2000. Also, it is very much possible to get an A.
If you skip class, you won't pass. Each day you miss is points taken off. Discussion Board is used all the time and if you're late on an assignment it's hard to get credit. Best to talk to in person. He won't give you answers, he wants you to figure it out yourself.
Kind and passionate professor. However, the group work he assigns are annoying, especially if you work a lot better alone. But he understands this which is why he makes group work a thing to let students develop. But hate the mandatory class and the almost-all-the-time-there-is-no-reason-to-come class days.
Professor Lanser is a great teacher. He has his snarky comments sometimes but, overall I like his teaching style. Be warned that your final grade will be based on a portfolio, you create. You pick the best top 5 assignments you have worked on and turn that in for your final grade. The book is fairly cheap but you don't need it.
Professor Lanser is a good professor that is interested in actually educating you. If you are the type that likes to be hand-held in any way this isn't the professor for you. He is very informative and always gives feedback, but expects input from you, not just for you to repeat him.
Aaron is a good professor hes outgoing and friendly but hell make you work for your grade. His class consists of 3 relatively easy essays and 10 reading journals. If you stay on top of your work youll really enjoy his class. If you procrastinate youll have some trouble catching up. Overall Id take his class even tho its unlikey to get an A
He ties to be comfortable around students but can often be rude.
He has got to be the nicest most caring professor I have ever had. You'll need to show up to class because theres a lot of stuff you'll turn in on a daily basis. You'll also be annotating a lot
I took Professor Lansers online ENGL-3007 course and I wish I never did! Every week there are readings/discussions/homework. On top of that you have to write 10 professional business messages, write reading reviews to chapters, create and employment application packet, and write a long research report! Avoid if you can! Tough grader also.
Although there was so much reading and writing, his class taught me a lot. He incorporates different styles of writing in his essays. He's super chill and laid back but pushes you to get the work done. Overall a good professor.
You have to attend his class otherwise your letter grade drops half a grade per lesson missed. Homework is given at the end of each lesson (lots of writing & reading) as classes are mostly discussions. Every class is graded on BlackBoard a out of 5 or 10 and this affects your overall grade. Only took because it was required for GE.
Fall 1006 starts with annotating short reads & doing a few assignments on them. Not crazy. Daily online Bb assignments are short, easy points. Two big papers are worked on with helpful progressive stages. Important to attend class. You don't have this class for finals week! Portfolio of your work turned in early December, so finals week is easier.
If you are lazy, you will not pass. His work is very easy when you make time available for it. Ultimately, this is one of my favorite professors.
This professor's very helpful to students provided you put in the work. As long as you follow all the guidelines and turn everything in on time you'll do good. For the English stretch we had about 4 papers but teacher gives lot of time to finish them. There is quite a bit of reading and annotating in this class so be ready for that.
Tough grader, get ready to read a lot.
Good luck. Tough grader. Unfair grading.
I took both 1006 and 1007 with him( from fall 2019 to spring 2020) and he was honestly the best. Gives you well enough time to complete work and genuinely cares about how you are doing in class. Just don't be lazy and ask for help when needed and you'll do absolutely fine:)
Worst professor I've had at Stan State so far. So much homework, coupled with unfair grading. Very condescending.
The saying, "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all" is all I can think about when it comes to this specific professor. While I could go into detail about his abysmal teaching methods, his lack of common courtesy, and unyielding grading style, I won't. Do yourself a favor, and do NOT take this professor.
Overloads you with tons of papers and reading. I recommend taking this class over the summer because you will feel overwhelmed if your taking multiple courses as well.
Hardest class I have had to take as it is an EXTENSIVE writing class. There are clear guidelines, be prepared to write ALOT and you can't BS it but really you can't. Final was a 15 page professional report with clear guidelines. I am a strong writer & I learned ALOT about perfecting my writing so it was a good course. Not for beginners in writing!
Professor Lanser is a great professor. I took the stretch course 1006/1007 online. Theres weekly assignments that require summarizing or annotating articles. Easy points just dont be lazy. Finals are SO easy for 1006 it was a portfolio of all the assignments you did in the year. 1007 was analyzing 2 articles super easy and gives you enough time.
One of my favorite professors! I never felt dumb or intimidated by asking questions in this class. He was always there to help. He's really caring and makes sure we get the help we need.
Lanser's chill, down to earth understanding and is great at giving genuine feedback. Throughout the semester you're required to write two articles, which work-wise, can be a lot at times, but he will guide you through the general process. Peer discussions in class are also frequent. I recommend him if you want to pursue journalism!
Proofesor Lanser is so caring and understandable. If you are worried about something just ask him after class and you will get a response from him. His weekly assignments mainly involve reading, taking notes, and doing papers are worth 5 points before the end of the semester. Do not procrastinate and keep up the class. You can get an Easy A.
Professor Lanser was a great professor. He required us to be organized, and encouraged us to work within our groups. His assignments aren't terribly difficult, but they do take a great amount of time to complete such as essays. He made the first semester welcoming for us freshmen, and respected us students. I would certainly take him again!
This class is not hard compared to 1006. Your grade depends on the 3 major papers that are turned in separately and the 10 Reading Reviews that will prepare you for your last major paper. He is there to help you when in the process of writing your paper and gives some class time for your peers to comment on what should be improved.
I really loved the way that he would run his class, all of the work was necessary for us to do. I liked the way that he spaced out the work each week to make it manageable for all people. Him posting it on Sundays to have a review for the week was very helpful as well. 3 major papers, lots of work with a group he selects for you. I would take again
He is a great english teacher. DO your work and you'll have an A. If you aren't able to turn something in on time give him a reason he will literally let you do it for full credit. If you did not get full credit on assignments tell him you wanna try for full C and he will let you. Overall, chill guy nice!
If instructions are not clear just email him. Gives assignments with reasonable time. Feedback is great and specific. Is a very understanding professor who tries his best to help you and the situation. Replies to emails on the same day and makes sure you understand the instructions. All reading materials are provided within the course assignments.
He is a fun professor to have he made me laugh every time I asked a question because I kept asking questions I knew the answer to. There were two articles to write 1 about a campus resource and 1 profile on someone important and you pitch it to him. They are worth 200 points and every week you take notes on the chapter and a reader review.
Overall, a great teacher! Would recommend others to choose him for this class. The class mostly consisted of many simple writing assignments, a few group projects, and discussions. There are three papers that may appear like a lot of work, but the professor breaks them down, making them easier to manage. Provides feedback when needed.
Professor Lanser was a very chill and refreshing teacher. You will be able to pick your groups the first week so choose carefully as these will be your group and seat for the rest of the semester. At the very beginning, there will be a load of reading assignments and homework but it gets better throughout the semester so bear with it. Very chill.
He's the best professor I've had so far. He shows a lot of care and empathy for his students. If you want an easy A, do the assignments. He's not a tough grader at all and you can tell he wants his students to succeed.
Lanser is an amazing professor you just have to keep up with the work he gives
