Great Teacher!!He incorporates everyone's learning methods into the class so people can learn and understand better. The class was very hands on i loved it! I would most deff recommend taking his class!
Super simple to understand. Super Simple class. Participate, show up, do a little extra than the rest of the class, you are acing his course.
Professor Lawler is a great online instructor. I highly recommend his Humanities 102 online class. He is very clear on what the assignments are, and when they are due. He is extremely helpful, I've learned so much. He runs very smooth online class, take professor Lawler you won't regret it!
Aaron Lawler is an awesome teacher! He made the 3 hour class fly by. He doesn't use Power Points which is awesome and all of his lectures are very interesting. Overall, if you do the assignments and show up to class you will have no problem getting an A
Best teacher I have taken !! He is there to help you! The lectures are actually fun, class participation is needed.. Literally say a sentence and you will get the points.. Two tests all year! And they're online tests! Midterm.. And if you have a 98% or more you don't take the final... Easier then you think! Awesome teacher take him 100% no doubt
Mr. Lawler is a really great teacher. Be prepared to read and write essays. His class is straightforward and he gives you more than enough time to work on class assignments. I truly enjoyed his class and find the topics interesting!
Mr. Lawler was not only knowledgeable about the content he presented but he also provided examples and reference material, which allowed me to grasp the material quickly. I really enjoyed taking his class.
This class is one of the most fun classes I have ever taken. Lawler keeps class consistently engaging. I even look forward to doing homework. It revolves around a lot of discussion and hands on activity, so as long a you participate you will do well.
Just an overall great teacher. I would take him again in a heartbeat!
Everything they said and more. I would take him again with out a doubt. /
Aaron is extremely friendly and very passionate about this class. I would definitely take him again. He also tries to get everyone to take his class as honors which is very beneficial especially because he will help you out along the way. He offers extra credit and makes sure everyone is very prepared for the midterm. If you get an 97.5 no final!
If you need to take a humanities class, seriously take his. Literally the best teacher, great guy.
Aaron Lawler is by far the best professor at WCC. I am a biology major so I usually do not care for classes like Humanities, but Aaron's way of teaching is extraordinary. He doesn't drill slides, he gets us interacting with one another. Aaron is extremely empathetic, and he truly cares for his students. His classes fill fast, makes sense...
Best professor I have ever had. He engages the class and stimulates discussion. His assignment require minimal effort. I wish all professors would adopt his teaching methods.
He's boring and bland, just like the class. WAY TOO MANY GROUP ACTIVITIES. It sucked. He uses Blackboard a lot and has random assignments due online on friday nights. Don't take it unless you plan on being confused and frustrated by the lack of explanation on ANY TOPIC in class. I had a terrible time. Don't take it unless it's your last resort.
One of the best professors I've had. The grading criteria is super clear. Receiving an A in the course is very possible when the effort is put forth. Students who received a 98% or better were exempt from the final. That seems like a challenge, however it was not. His lectures are very interesting and the activities in class are a lot of fun.
There is one word for this class and it is AWESOME! He is a nice, friendly, approachable teacher. You have to try very hard to not pass his class. Class does not have quizzes but it does ask for much participation in class which is fun!
ALL I CAN SAY IS WOW JUST TAKE THE HIM he is truly one of the best profs at waubonsee! his humanities class was so fun and he always keeps up with his students and responds to emails quick plus he offers extra credit and is also very caring TAKE HIM HES THE BEST HUMANITIES PROF AT THIS SCHOOL!
On line Humanities class and it was an awesome. Quick feedback. Everything was spelled out for you, no guessing, great syllabus, you must participate, but easy to get and A if you do what is expected of you. Even though on line class, I grew tremendously in my appreciation for Art and culture. I wish I could have taken his class in person.
Professor Aaron Lawler is the best professor/teacher I've ever had in any school. As long as you do the work and come to class, you will do great! The difference between him and any other professor is that you will WANT to do both of those things! He's fantastic, brilliant and is no question, an absolute genius who knows everything about anything.
Aaron is a professor you will be lucky to have! He is great at teaching and making things personable. You wont want to miss his class because of how much you will love it! I plan to take more of his classes even if they dont count towards my degree!
Amazing professor. such a genuine guy. he is very understanding and realizes that we are human. makes a great sense of community in the classroom. will talk after class as long as you need. AMAZINF
I LOVED AARON! Best prof I ever had! Super nice, caring, laid back, chill, etc. Show up to class, do the study module, you'll pass with an A and he gives a ton of extra credit. Wish I had him for more classes!
I would definitely recommend to take him. His class is fun, he is easy going , very funny and makes the class stress free. Very nice and easily accessible outside of class. Participation in group activities matters and you get graded on it, but if you show up and do everything you supposed to, you will pass with a good grade.
greatest teacher
Aaron is a great professor! He made class fun and grades very easy. He's super laid back but takes attendance everyday. Also A LOT of group activities, but they're easy and fun.
Loved this class! Opened my eyes to a lot and kept my attention with ease. Easy on the assignments and tests, don't bother with the textbook as you probably won't even touch it.
Loved taking his class. Would recommend to anyone and everyone, it makes you think in a different mindset. His lectures are very interesting and all homework is very doable!
Best teacher at WCC, seriously he wants every student to succeed. Every 3 weeks there's 1 online quiz, 2 discussion post, and 1 art journal due. There are 2 papers, the midterm, and group presentation as well. If your grade is 97 or higher at the end you're exempt from the final. There is SO much extra credit it's hard to not get an A!
Aaron is super nice and accessible; he isn't too intimidating to ask for help from. He does a really good job of breaking down super complex concepts into ideas that are easier to understand. Discussions were always awesome, and he does a really good job of planning super unique in-class activities and exercises.
Has been the best teacher I have taken! Give a reasonable amount of homework but isn't due after every 3rd week. Very funny teacher. Kept my attention 100%. I actually wanted to go in class and participate! Does different activities and lectures. Hardly every uses power points!! Which is amazing! Gives feedback. Best teacher out there!!!
I took the 8 week online hum102. Each week we had about 3 assignments which can include a discussion post+response, 5 question multi choice quiz (you can take more than once), a wiki, and steps in completing the final project. There is no midterm and if your grade is 97.5 or higher there is no final! There are many extra credit opportunities.
I am a Biology major so all these other "mandatory" gen eds necessary for graduation I tend to not look forward to, but this class changed my mind. I learned so much from him and enjoyed every minute of class -except that he ALWAYS goes to the last minute and does not want you packing up early, sorry Aaron! Participate in class and take notes!
Lawler is by far the most influential teacher I have had during my time at Waubonsee. You can tell from the first day of class that he loves the subject he teaches and makes sure the students are engaged. If I could take the class again I would. My favorite class of my 2 years at Waubonsee.
One of the best professors I have ever had, class is very fun.
Aaron's class really opened my eyes to the world. His class does a great job of making you think and forming your own opinions. Being a Republican, this class really strengthen my own beliefs and gives me a better understanding of the other side of the coin.
I had never had a teacher that leaves you thinking every time you walk out of their classroom (in a good way) until I had Aaron. One of the best teachers I have ever had the privilege of learning from. He is so passionate and you can tell he loves teaching, which makes his class so amazing. If you show up and participate, you will get an easy A.
Aaron is as advertised. In all of my years of schooling, Ive never had a teacher like him. Hes an amazing guy and TRULY cares about his students. He hates the cookie cutter read these slides for an hour and a half teaching style and instead engages in his students and has us dive into each others minds. I physically cannot say enough about him
Overall amazing teacher, his teaching style is so unique and fairly easy. He explains everything well and makes everyday unique and awesome!
I love Aaron!! He clearly cares a lot about both his students and his subject. I think any Waubonsee student should take him at least once.
Mr. Lawler was by far the best and most understanding teacher I have ever had. No matter what you said in his class he would see it from your point of view and is always open to knew ideas. Doesn't believe in tests but you only have one essay throughout the semester. A++++++ teacher
Honestly one of the best teachers at Waubonsee. He encourages participation in a very relaxed and communicative environment. The class was easy because I was so engaged in the material and the way he introduces new concepts. 10/10 recommend.
I feel like this class it completely unorganized. It may be better in person, but online it was very hard for me follow the material. The discussions didn't follow the assigned chapters of the textbook, and they were pretty much all about religion, nothing else. I am taking this for my art credit, so I expected it to be an art class, not religions.
I took the Global Village class because I needed it for credit. Best class I have ever taken. Aaron Lawlers classes are mostly lectures & group activities. We talk about cultures and ancient civilizations. That may sound boring, but he tells stories & connects with the real world and gives facts youd never believe. Would take his class again!
Took Lawler for Global Village. Most of your points come out of attendance & participation. You would lose points if you don't say anything during class or come late. Assignments were given with a good amount of time to complete them. Gives lots of extra credit. Don't take his class if you are not willing to talk w/ an open mind.
Needed an elective so I took HUM102 w/ Lawler and it ended up being the best part of my semester. Hes a pretty chill grader, gives GREAT lectures, and is super funny, encouraging/respectful, and always ready to give help when needed! Hands down my favorite professor.
Aaron is a good man. His class encourages you to think for yourself. He does not imprint his own beliefs into the classroom. Rather than this, he encourages you to discover your own beliefs in his classroom-even if they are not what he personally believes. I think that is the ultimate goal of an educator. Fantastic person.
He is so passionate about what he is teaching which makes it such an interesting and fun class! His lectures are engaging and fun to listen to. Very clear on due dates & grading criteria. Class leaves room for life circumstances and whatnot, so it never feels like you're drowning or overwhelmed. definitely take a class by him if you get the chance!
He is an AMAZING professor! I had him for two different classes (HUM101, HUM102) and enjoyed every minute. He made class interesting and fun. Definitely would recommend him!
Aaron is the BEST professor EVER. I highly recommend taking at least one class with him if you have the chance!
I cant say enough about Lawler. The best teacher I have ever had and easily one of the most interesting people I have ever met. The classes are AMAZING and you learn sooo much throughout the semester. I could take the class everyday if it were possible. This class is a must take AND a must take with Aaron!! If you talk, youll ace the class.
If you don't like writing, I wouldn't suggest this class. If you can get past that however you will love it. I had him during the quarantine. He kept the schedule the same, so nothing to comment there. During lectures, he includes a lot of in-class activities- like charades. Really gets you to think critically and understand humanities.
The textbook was not really required, but it was optional to help with the homework. Lots of in class participation, which you'll be graded on. Shyness will impact your grade negatively, but he creates an inclusive, vibrant, safe space. He makes you think creatively and class is never boring.
Great lectures. Lawler gets the class involved and the homework is easily manageable. Plenty of opportunities to get points just pay attention in class.
This is one of the best teachers, its an easy A if you participate in class. He explains his concepts to another level and is really excited and passionate about what he is teaching. Don't just blow off the class, listen and you will probably remember more of his content than any other teacher. Also take this class as honors
Aaron is the best professor at Waubonsee!
Mr. Lawler is an extremely nice person. His class was very easy as long as you participated, he would frequently hold lectures and would expect participation from everyone. there are a few papers but he is also a good grader and as long as you do the minimal amount of work required you will get a pretty easy A, he also offers extra credit often.
This is the second class I've taken with Aaron, and he truly is one of Waubonsee's best professors. He cares a lot about making sure students are fully equipped to succeed, and it's obvious that he loves what he does. There was a lot of homework required for this class, but Aaron is a pretty chill grader and he did offer extra credit.
Dr. Aaron Lawler is amazing! He does make you work hard for a good grade, but it's only to your benefit. Even with COVID and taking this class online, I loved having Aaron as a professor and hope to be able to have him again in another class. Oh, make sure you can access your school email since he will frequently communicate with you this way.
I was so excited to take mythology, but this class was a nightmare! If you responded to someone before a certain time, you were penalized and if you responded to more than one person this also happened. How are we suppose to make a "community" if we could only respond to one person? Very his way or the highway sometimes
350 characters are not enough to cover the ways Aaron Lawler changed my life. He has raised the bar for any professors and instructors I will experience in my college career. I urge anyone to take him, as he is highly empathetic, intelligent, and an all-around fantastic professor. Should the opportunity present itself, I will take him again. NQA.
This was such a fun class! He divided the class into modules, with 3 weeks to complete each module. It was up to you when you completed the assignments though. My main advice would be to put in the work. While the assignments aren't difficult, he encourages you and can tell when you do your best. Great guy, funny, and would highly recommend! :)
Good luck getting past the 3 or so chapters of reading every module. on top of the multiple videos and quizzes that follow it up
He told me I "clearly hadn't read the instructions" when I'd read them three times and still couldn't understand the assignment. The required word count forces you to fill hw with fluff, then you get points off for having fluff. In syllabus, he said doing what's required will get you a c, and if you want an A you have to figure out what he wants.
He was very disrespectful in his comments about my work. There were contradictions in his explanation of an assignment, and he was dismissive and rude when telling me what I did incorrectly. I am fine with being critiqued, but it matters how you treat people. He needs to further his own education to learn about how to be a motivating professor.
Prof Aaron is a good guy. he's good at giving feedback and grades quickly. interesting material and he does a good job getting involved. i think he caters to a younger audience though so if you're an adult student lik me, some of its not really for me. overall good class tho
I was very worried about this class. You made this class fun and enjoyable. I appreciate the different types of assignments that gave which were a variety of ways to learn from, and I enjoyed every comment you left me. Although I usually dont reach out to teacher I felt the need to let you know how important your advice was to me.
I genuinely enjoyed the content & looked forward to his emails & feedback. He showed us how to connect the information to our own lives. Im sure 2020 and 2021 were not easy with everything threw at us, but I am thankful for his classes & his efforst. He really tries to make it enjoyable & relatable.
I have mixed feelings about him. Is a tough grader and his assignments are all in the form of a project or essay. His quizzes are very tricky even though they are true or false, I averaged probably around a 75 on them and I wouldnt consider myself a bad student. Just do NOT procrastinate his assignments as it is A LOT. (took class online)
When I first started this class I went in with the midset of this professor gives too much work, I have to worry about classes that pertain to my major. I quickly realized though, that the way we communicate, understand each other, and form connections is through being a human. Everyone should take this class as it will help them grow tremendousl
Hes by far one of the best professors Ive ever had. I appreciated his constant effort when it comings to supporting his students. Everything he did this semester doesnt go unnoticed. Take him if you can! Wont regret it
He is enthusiastic and passionate about the humanities and that is crucial in the success of students. I had I great time in his class this semester and wish it could have been in person. The interview assignment truly opened my eyes to how much other cultures know about American culture
Wordy yet vague rubrics. He seems to sacrifice specifics of what he wants to see on projects for collegiate-sounding assignment handouts. Worked super hard my last week of class and he kept grading my work around a 50% (also without giving any meaningful feedback) which sunk my grade at the last minute. Definitely wouldnt take again.
I enjoyed the final project, his feedback, and truly all aspects of his class. The format was different than anything I have experienced before at the college level but class was the most interesting and mind opening so far!
I had alot of fun creating the projects and the class was super enjoyable. It challenged my thinking in a creative way then I'm used to! He told me I was 'cross-pollinating' it wasn't until I read it in his email that I googled to to see exactly what I'm subconsciously doing. He posts a lot of announce (some professors don't do enough updates!)
DO NOT TAKE. Gives projects or writing assignments with literally no guidance or rubric to work off and grades them harshly. last two assignments, one being the final essay, I bombed after having an A in class the whole time, dropping my grade to a C within the last week. Least understanding teacher, clearly could care less ab his students.
THE BEST! I was really nervous going into this class because ive never taken a Humanities class before and I was taking it as honors! With that being said I learned so much about myself and the world we live in! Ive had an amazing time this semester!
This has been an amazing course and he was an amazing professor! Clear directions which is important to students. Hes really caring you can tell he cares about his students
Good class and would def take again! He always clarified my questions in a timely manner. Usually right away! We not have any tests, but writing assignments, which I preferred. He lets you resubmit to boost your grade too
He's honestly so awesome, and he's one of the most inspiring teachers I have ever met. 10/10 and would take many more of his classes!!
Aaron Lawler is one of the best professors I have had at Waubonsee. He takes a very new-age approach in his digital humanities class and has an awesome late work policy. Honestly, the only way you won't get a high grade is if you just don't turn in the assignments and don't take notes during his lectures.
Dr. Lawler is an amazing professor. You can tell he is extremely intelligent in his field, and he genuinely wants his students to learn. My biggest recommendation is making sure you are watching the YouTube videos and reading the textbook. It will make the projects so much easier. My only complaint is wishing he had more strict due dates.
He was a good teacher who laid out the criteria very clearly. Everything had examples and he was very understanding. He let you go ahead or catch up if you needed to. He will regrade if you turn in early and if you met and went beyond the expectations would gave extra credit on top of the extra credit he already offered.
Lawler was an amazing professor. He meets every high standard a college student dreams of to academically succeed. Grading is logical and clear. Participation matters! This class helped motivate me & improved my social skills overall . He allows you to explore different perspectives which helps academically as well as in life overall! 10/10!
Do not take this professor. I have taken him twice now (not by choice as he was the only professor available), and each time he is always the hardest. He grades harshly. Does not care to help you afterward, nor is he understanding. Honestly the worst professor I have ever had.
If your taking humanities, dont take anyone else! Easily BEST prof at Waubonsee. Super easy going and down to earth tons of extra credit and can turn in same assignment multiple times it's ridiculous! Lots of feedback and super fast grader. I've never seen someone with so much dedicution.
LAWLER is an awesome teacher, he really cares about his students. Ask questions he always answers back quick, and do, do, do do, the extra credit!!! Sends out LOTS LOTS LOTS of announcements. Lectures are easy to follow, BUT TAKE NOTES! He collects the NOTES for a grade! Hes a big believer in you get out of it what you put into it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Truly regret taking this class, I worked hard the entire semester averaging between a 94%-97% the entire time, just for one assignment and a final to drop my grade down from an A. Harsh grader and beyond vague in his assignment descriptions. You are forced to go into the assignments hoping you interpreted everything correctly. Do not recommend
Highly recommend! This was a great class! He's a pretty caring guy, and his class was not hard at all.(Not sure what some of these other people are saying???? Its an easy A for sure!). He's super laid back and lectures are pretty interesting. Be sure to always attend class, he explains everything including the homework!
The reviews that have negative comments probably just didn't pay attention. HIs classes are easy, and he is an easy-going professor. he doesn't take the class too seriously but of course like all classes, you get what you put out. It is so annoying when STUDENTS don't take accountabilities when it comes to their efforts. Ask for help when you need.
Best professor I've ever had! Coming to his lectures is something I always look forward to. The class homework is a lot of work, but it's really easy if you participate in class and take notes. Be ready to make friends in this class though, we do group work every single class. I really enjoyed this class and Professor Lawler!
Dr. Lawler was by far one of the best professors I've ever had!!! The class I took was almost 3 hours long and he would make it go by so fast! We would discuss a lot of dense topics in class but he always made it very enjoyable and easy to learn. He gives extra credit on stuff if you put effort into it, and it's super easy to do well in his class!
Interesting lectures. Decent amount of homework including long discussion posts but they were easy
He does a good job of explains well and if you get hung up on something, he makes it a priority to help you out. The criteria is really easy to follow and pretty clear. He is a pretty easy grader as long as you follow everything and check all the boxes. He gives a ton of extra credit work. Just make an effort and you should be just fine!
The work is very straightforward. I took the class online for both HUM101 and HUM102 and they were the exact same with slightly different material for both. Assigns about 4 assignments a month and each take about an hour each.
Lawler is an absolutely amazing professor. His lectures were engaging and interesting. You can tell he really knows what he's talking about and is passionate about what he teaches. Just turn in your stuff on time, he'll give you feedback, and he also gives extra credit if you put in the work. Also, just a great person to have a conversation with.
Lawler rocks! He is a true teacher!! Best class I have ever taken. Fair multiple choice tests and assignments you actually want to do. he always keeps class entertaining from start to finish. If you are not sure about college take Lawler, he will help you!!!!!!
He makes every lecture entertaining and fun. There are three assignments for each module each 400 words, and you can get extra credit on them. These are the only assignments you get for each module and he gives you enough time to finish and ask questions. I personally would finish them a day before and get +100% but I do not recommend doing that!
A great professor took his class, and honestly, it's so easy to keep an A in the class; you just need to do the homework on time, and he gives a lot of extra credit. I took it in person, and the students with negative reviews on here, and honestly, I wouldn't listen to those. Fun entertain class. (in person)
This professor expected a lot out of students in regard to time spent on homework. His directions were very unclear and it was genuinely hard to figure out what you were supposed to do for each assignment. Lawler was too wordy with his online material and everything was made very hard to find.
Lawler is one of my favorite professors, I've had hands down! He gives a lot of great feedback and only wants his students to do well. Amazing lectures and discussions. He has lots of passion and he's engaging and informative. I learned so much in just 16 weeks! Would take again for sure!
I do not recommend. Assignments are not explained well.
I loved being in this class! He made learning so much fun and exciting. He knows a lot about the subject and always explained things in a way that I could understand. He cares! He cared about each of his students and helped us when we needed it.
Professor Lawler will be a teacher to remember. Ive had him in global village and now in HUM101 The assignments are not hard if you put in the work and read the directions.Lawler was always helpful and replies fast. im a average student and I was able to be exempt from final essay.
From what I can tell he seems like a really nice guy, his lecture videos are well presented and he clearly cares a lot about the topics he's teaching. Some of the assignments are such a pain though, and sometimes I feel like the grading was really arbitrary. Some assignments I got bad grades and I had no idea what I did wrong. Otherwise he's ok.
The absolute BEST professor I have ever had!! Definitely recommend taking a class with him. He gives such great feedback on every assignment. Has an early revision opportunity, that allows students to submit an assignment days before it's due for his review and corrections to be made, and you can then make changes and resubmit before the due date.
I've taken Lawler twice now and I loved him both times! He makes the material very digestible and is not a very tough grader. He is more concerned about what you learned. Take Professor Lawler if you need to take a humanities course!!
Very inconsistent grader on assignments and essays. Grade relies a lot on how much time you spent looking at his content, regardless of how well you are doing in the class. Seems like he doesn't like students that don't need to put much effort in his classes to do well. Directions on assignments are not always very clear.
I would take a class with Lawler anytime. Every assignment you get really good feedback. Would be by far, would be my favorite professor out of all classes I have taken. I wish every teacher was like this!
Lawler is easily one of the best professors I've had so far. Hes super easy to work with.I took his leadership class last fall, and now his online humanities class. He does give out some homework, but it's really manageable and the class isn't overwhelming at all. I loved his classes. Take him!
There are the journal assignments, which aren't too bad, but so be ready to read and write! Every week there are class discussions. You're encouraged to talk, but as someone who is shyer, talking isn't my best but there's way to get points. Brings a good atmosphere and energy into the classroom. Do the journals and show up! ONE OF THE BEST .
A fairly easy class. This prof is really great, and the class isn't too hard, so I definitely recommend it. This ended up being one of my favorite classes because this prof is so caring and passionate about the topics.
fairly easy class. Do the journals and quizzes and you'll be fine. Prof is very caring and wants to help, really a safe person. Never a boring class, he is very passionate. would 100% recommend, one of the best teachers/prof I've ever had.
He lets you submit assignments early to get feedback and earn a higher grade. Take advantage of that! He is super helpful and is accessible outside of class. Offered lots of opportunities for extra credit and the assignments weren't too lengthy.
Weird... his rating have to be botted or something. This is one of the worst professors I have ever had in my 14 years of school. He has absolutely zero idea what he's talking about and formats his online classes horribly. You can tell the guy is genuinely weird, very glad I do not have him in person.
He is a fun professor. Very transparent with his students and he's a pretty easy grader on his papers if you meet the 350-500+ word count requirements. he was also very good at explaining what was good and bad with assignments. I had a great experience!
Lawler was great during my time at waubonsee. He has a vast amount of knowledge in his field, and he want's to give you everything you can to be successful. He definitely pushes you to do better, and is very caring about his students.I wish I could rate higher than 5 stars that's how amazing he was.
Very laid back and nice, readings aren't too long. Gives good and honest feedback for papers and he always helps you if you need it.
AMAZING! Even in a summer course I felt relaxed and educated! Aaron grades VERY fairly and give tons of respectful and helpful feedback. I would recommend him to anyone. He helped me excel and accept both positive and negative feedback better than any other teach I've EVER had!
Great teacher, he was easily one of the best teachers I had there. He knows what he's talking about and he's pretty helpful.
He's an awesome professor, and clearly cares about what he does.
I really enjoyed this class
Grading criteria was very unclear, he gave us the minimum requirements to receive a C, but did not make it clear what we had to do to get an A. For instance, presentations had to be 10 slides, but he really meant 15 for an A. I turned in 17 and still managed to not meet the quantity requirement. He was never in his office any time I went for help.
Popular class so a bit too big of class. Discuss interesting topics, but class is too big, so you don't always get chance to talk. Despite class size, good class.
He has an interesting teaching style which will either turn you off OR make him one of the best teachers you've ever had. He does tend to go off on tangents, but believe it or not -- there's a purpose to that. He likes to make you THINK about what you're reading, and his stories serve as a reminder of the bigger world outside of these 4 walls.
Loved taking his class and want to take more of his classes in the future. He is extremely passionate about what he does and is always willing to listen to students. He genuinely cares about his students and not just giving us grades. It is vital to attend this class bc he doesn't do PowerPoint, but if you stay engaged you will do great!
I loved, loved, loved the way this professor taught his subject. But no slides -- lots of discussion. He seemed very passionate about his classes. Tests and papers were very difficult to get a good grade on. Participation is huge in this class. All in all, I look forward to this class every week!
Very funny and nice guy. He grades a little tough on certain things but overall he was a very good professor and i enjoyed going to his class. had a little better grade then i hoped!
very vague instructions for assignments, but super detailed grading criteria. Such a bad professor
I did not enjoy taking this professor.
one of the worst professors ive ever had, stay clear
Funny and nice. Passionate about the topics. Accepts late work.
Have taken him several times. Love his classes!
Great Prof and a nice down to earth guy. Really knows his stuff. Everyone loves him.
If you take him for an online course, be prepared to work for your grade. The bare minimum outlined will get you a C, you have to do almost double the workload to get a decent grade. He is most likely a better professor in person, but steer clear online.
Took this course in Fall. Lawler was absolutely amazing. He had a clear format and was fair with grading, online posting, and testing. Tests are all online, papers were submitted electronically and weekly participation were graded in a timely manner. Highly recommend taking his courses. Great content and delivery.
If the class's subject matter isn't interesting enough, Dr. Aaron Lalwer gives you the best of the best. The readings he selects are transformative. He is akin to an ancient philosopher reincarnated, ready to change the modern world. Dr. Lawler doesn't tell you what to think. He teaches you how to think and why people thought what they once did.
Engaging professor with a passion for the subject. While the large class size can limit discussion, the lectures are informative and lessons stick. Unstuck ai was a game-changer for exam prep.
Lawler is seriously the best professor on campus, I don't think there was a single lecture I got bored in. If you don't like to have fun, don't take this class. His grading system was a little strange at first, but you get the hang of it pretty quickly.
Amazing humanities prof, learn something new and learn how to think differently after each lecture. Your experience may differ depending on how conducive you can be with your tablemates, so I don't recommend this class to killjoys. Attend every lecture because missing one class could mean trouble for your biweekly assignments.
At first the class seems like a lot but it is actually very easy and laid out very well that makes it enjoyable to learn humanities. He is also very straightforward and accessible through email. Which helps whenever you need help. He was definitely there to help me. Taking him again since I liked his class and his style so much.
He teaches badly. It doesn't click with me, he doesn't give out redoes on assignments even if your actually having issues with submitting assignments, or the fact that I had to grammarly because I wanted to make sure I had correct grammar and he thought I was cheat and gave me a warning for crossing the line. He shouldn teach if he can't b flexable
I took this course online, he did it where you had to earn 1000 points for an A plus and I really liked that way. The assignments were optional so he would assign like 4 assignments a week and you only had to do as many as you wanted. Tests were open notes, overall easy A.
