Hes absolutely a cool guy, he gives us "exams" periodicly he gives us good and solid material in the study guides, overall a great teacher.
best professor ever... really fun and enjoyable class
Nolan is a great guy. After our first exam he asked us what we thought of it and then started a discussion on how to make class better/more prepared for the exams. He's the first teacher that has done this. Awesome guy, always helpful, always willing to answer questions. I suggest taking him.
very helpful and always looking for ways to help us. cool and laid back.
I personally hate giving speeches and such, but aaron makes the atmosphere of the class so comfortable and enjoyable. i really recommend him, he's my favorite teacher this semester :]
he's really laidback and relatively young so he connects with a lot of his students. he's really straightforward, teaches you what is exactly on his tests kind of thing. really nice. easy class. recommend taking him.
Very nice and enthusiastic teacher. Even for an 8 am class it was still interesting. Grades consisted of a couple tests, two speeches, and a couple other assignments. If you nail your speeches, it's an easy A. Aaron is very helpful also and will help you with your speeches. Highly recommend him.
TAKE HIM!!! He is def my favorite teacher. You learn alot and it is an easy A. he is young so he is easy to talk to
Aaron is one of the nicest professors, he is very helpful, knowledgeable, and charismatic. If you can take him hes awesome.
Aaron was a great teacher! Our class was so fun! He is young and funny and easy to pay attention to. We watched a lot of fun movie clips in his class. You get out early almost every class. He gives you lots of easy class participation points. This was by far the easiest class I had this semester! Great class!
This class was a blast!! Aarong is a fun, young teacher who really relates with you. He uses different teaching methods that really helps you be interested. His tests are ok, but there aren't that many. A lot of easy group work, and he gives you lots of in class participation points. In my class we watched "Hitch" like once a week. It was fun!
He rules! The best professor that you will ever have!
Teacher is a ****... so good and hard working. I learned so much...
Aaron is young, approachable, and has a great attitude towards the class. He knows his stuff and makes sure you learn it, but it does it in fun and interesting ways. You won't stress too badly in here, although I wouldnt call it an easy A. Class is always interesting and very painless. Take him!
He's definitely a fun guy to have for GCOM. Tests are a bit harder than he suggests, but the majority of the course is "gimme" assignments that boost your grade. I'd probably take him again.
Aaron is one of the best professors you will ever have. He relates to students very well and is a lot of fun. He makes communication a lot of fun. There are only a few speeches and he pretty much gives you all that you will need to know to do them. Definitely take him, you'll love it.
Awesome teacher! Class is fun, jokes around, and you walk away with a different knowledge on how you can communicate. Honestly, great for relationships. Aaron is the Man!
amazinggggg....he's funny and really makes you listen to what he is saying...he cancels class for conferences and believes in awesome policies about doing all of your work at the beginning of the semester and taking it slow near finals
Very compassionate teacher who cares about his students. Work is fair, though final exam is rough (regardless of prof). This class was worth taking and going to every MWF.
I have never had a better professor at JMU, he is honestly one of the best people I have ever met, and even if the exams are tough you want to attend class because he is hilarious and personable!! You would be seriously missing out if you passed up the chance to take aaron.
Aaron is the best professor I've had at JMU so far. He is funny and makes class interesting. I enjoyed class, and although his tests are hard, he is very helpful!
Awesome teacher! I HATE public speaking and I think I would have had a nervous breakdown if I had any other professor. Very nice, funny, and he doesn't grade harshly at all. Only two speeches whereas other professors usually assign three. If you get him, you're lucky!
Aaron was the best professor I've had so far at JMU. His exams are harder, but class is so fun and he is a great guy. Definitely take him!!
Aaron definitely made class interesting and you actually end up wanting to show up to his class. Test are a little hard (only 2 plus the final) but speeches aren't that bad.
Great guy, funny guy, classes were interesting and dare i say fun. Definitly take Aaron, youll have a great time
Easy going guy and makes class pretty interesting. He's definitely a good prof to take though it's hard to get anything besides a B on speeches. Fresh goatee + sideburns
Had him as a last minute replacement for the teacher I originally had because of maternity leave, but he was good for what he was. Made lectures fun, and wants to see you participate. You must go to his class if you want to do well though. Recommended.
He was my favorite professor I had this year. I had his class at 8 am, but he made it interesting and worth your time. He is really funny and does a great job of teaching. Definitely take him if possible.
Awesome guy - so much fun. The class is actually interesting!!!
he is amazing!!! the class is so interesting and fun and its the one class i always look forward to. there are two tests, the midterm and final and then the other two are speeches, persuasive and informative. awesome guy!! makes the class fun. i highly recommend him!!!
His is tough, but really a great class. You learn a lot about speeches and different ways to communicate. If you don't know the deadlines its because you dont listen, he tells you and its all on the syllabus from day 1. Take him - fun class even at night!
Aaron is an awesome guy and he's always willing to help his students. He will definitely challenge you in class, but honestly, that's what college is about. As long as you listen to his advice on speeches and read the book for tests you should be fine. He is a pretty tough grader though so don't let his awesome, laid back personality fool you.
Love the class and Aaron. He keeps the class fun and uses a lot of examples. I enjoy it and Aaron. He is a tough grader because he has high expectations just try harder.
pretty good dude and teacher. really witty too and kinda likes to embarrass his students at times which is a little annoying. but overall you can do minimal studying and still pull a good grade. mandatory attendance and a lott of reading from the textbook.
loved this class! he makes the class fun and the information tolerable. speeches are easy & he doesnt grade too harshly he's very witty and tries to relate to us. very personable. no tests & only a few quizes. definitely take him if you can get him. oh and he's a HUGE WVU fan and likes the yankees.
He's not as organized or knowledgable as he is charismatic. He forgets lots of things and theres no point in arguing with him over debatable questions. He TRIES to accommodate to his students and I guess that should get brownie points, but I dislked his unorganized teaching style
Take him for gcomm! He was a good teacher and very personable. The final was hard because it's state wide and the professor doesn't make it. The speeches weren't too hard and if you need extra help he will go out of his way to help you.
He was so great. He always tries to make the information interesting and lets us make decisons. he is funny and so helpful, just ask for help and you will be fine
Loved him! Great professor, super fun and makes a lot of jokes. Quizzes tend to be difficult and you definitely have to do the reading. But the class is focused around group work. I enjoyed going to class and felt he was incredibly helpful. Take him if you can
Interesting class.. I studied and went to class, I got a B in the course. Tests and quizes were hard, his powerpoints never matched the test. TAKE SOMEONE else. You will be thankful
This class was so fun. you do a TON of activities and he is so helpful. anytime there is a need for help you should see him he always helps so much. favorite class at JMU
TAKE HIM! Great guy, great professor, sooooooo helpful and nice. He will help with anything and always make a time to meet with you. he does have high expectationns and you have to talk in class.
Aaron's class is ... fun?? You should take him ...learn alot...have fun...hardish tests but he helps you, cool prof.
Aaron is the best prof i had at JMU. he is so smart and fun. he asks tough questions and wants us to participate and he always says "THINK." he will help with anything and loves teaching you have to take him - no better prof at JMU
Aaron was awesome. He is very student centered and does a lot ot make sure you feel comfortable. He will challenge you and has high expectations but is a great prof. TAKE HIM
great prof, knows a lot. totally friendly and understanding ... one of the best in the department, hes my favorite
I enjoyed being in Aaron's class. He's very energetic and loves to use Pandora radio before class.
aaron is great. if you get him you are so lucky. he is fun, super smart and cares alot about how his students do..... great class you get to people watch on the quad
Hard but SO000 helpful and smart. take him if you actually want to learn
Probably the hardest class I have taken at JMU, but also the best... every day is tough, but aaron is such a good guy and so helpful. he knows his s^%& and really challenges you to think. he is down to earth and w3ill go above and beyond to help. take him you wont regret it
Aaron's the man. He is the greatest teacher i have had yet. He cares about his students, is funny, really intelligent, and loves to teach. I learned a lot from him. The only reason i got a B- was i didn't exactly take the online quizzes too seriously, so look out for that. Your lucky if you have him! plus he listens to pandora in class
He is a good teacher, very informal and helpful. Most quizzes are on Blackboard and he takes a lot of questions from the books "quzzies without consequences" so do them. Over all not a bad class but he does grade somewhat harshly so be ready.
Is a great professor. Enjoyable. Knows what he is talking about and makes learning fun. Make sure you study for the quizzes that are on Blackboard. That is where the easy grades are. A somewhat tough grader on the speeches. Very easy to get a B
don't know how to do this...he is hard. he is super big on challenging you, but he is super nice and helpful ???
Aaron is a great professor. He is really friendly and helpful! The persuasion class is really challenging, but he does a good job explaining the material. If you need clarification go to his office hours!
Aaron is THE BEST jmu prof ever!!I absolutely loved his class! Aaron is so helpful and really cares about his students. I would really recommend Aaron. If you work hard and go to class there's no doubt you'll do fine. HE's AWESOME!!!!!!!
If you get him you are lucky he is the best
Well if all profs were like him it would be awesome - just talk to him about his teaching thoughts ...... take his class
Fun class with a fun teacher. One of the best Gen eds out there
HE IS AWESOME. Take his class, he is so funny and chill about everything. Show up for class, because he takes addendance into account. But he is so fun and makes the class so interesting :)
Aaron is one of the best professors out there. He provides real life examples making every subject super interesting and making me always want to come to class. His speech grades are kind of tough, but you likely get a B or better on all of them. Mid term and quizzes are online, and he has an awesome attitude. TAKE HIM!!!!!!!
Kept class interesting and fun.
Aaron is amazing. Incredibly helpful and his lectures are so easy to follow. Study guide is really helpful. I thought the exam was pretty easy. Probably my favorite teacher I've had here so far. Take him!
Aaron is a fantastic professor! His class is always engaging. He's young and he clearly is passionate about what he teaches. I went in thinking I was going to hate the class and it ended up being my favorite. I definitely recommend taking him!
we learn stuff as we go, you figure this out at the end, tough grader on speeches ...lot of fun...nice
Aaron is a great teacher and an even better person in general. He cares for his students and wants to make class enjoyable for everyone. He is also very approachable and easy going. One of the best professors out. Offers extra credit opportunities throughout the semester. Don't pass up the chance to take his class! And not bad looking either ;)
He's a wonderful teacher! Take him!!!
Aaron, which is what he goes by, is a very nice professor!! He is helpful, understanding, approachable, and such a good person all around. He doesn't like power-points so bearly uses them. Homework-- you take a 10 question or less online quiz from information from the textbook. No tests. Midterm Final exam the same as all GCOM classes. HIGHLY RECOM
if you don't take any of his classes, you're stupid. you'd be passing up one of the best professors at jmu.
If you want to have an ideal college professor take this class!!!!!
Aaron is a great guy - SUPER passionate about teaching. He really makes this gen ed a lot of fun. Speeches do require quite a bit of research but if you put the time in and do it correctly, it will pay off. Don't think that this is an easy A because it does require work but it is SO woth it. There is something wrong with you if you don't like him!
Aaron is the coolest professor I've had. He's hilarious, professional, and entertaining. He's extremely knowledgeable with public speaking and knows how to help you. He's a tough speech grader, but you'll learn to adjust. Let's you retake all of your quizzes before final exam. HIGHLY recommend you taking him.
Definitely one of the best professors at JMU. He is just a really chill guy. He honestly wants you to succeed and will help you with anything. The quizzes aren't that difficult and the speeches are fine too.
Aaron Noland is such a great professor. He's funny and as long as you respect him he'll respect you. You have quizzes after all the chapters you read (little textbook heavy) but he normally goes over all the question before you take it as a group. AND you only have two presentations which is a lot less than some other classes.
TAKE THIS CLASS. You will look FORWARD to going to class. Aaron is the coolest guy and best professor I've had. Class is always interesting and upbeat. He sincerely cares about all of his students and with some effort, you will receive a good grade! Final is departmental but Aaron prepares you. I would retake Aaron over and over again if I could.
You will seriously look forward to going to this class. Easily the best GCOM teacher there is and is so helpful. The grades are easy, but you learn a lot. He is so helpful and very funny and keeps you entertained during the entire class period. And while you're sitting in the class, you don't find yourself staring at the clock.
This guy is the man! He was super helpful and always positive. His class was a lot of fun and I highly recommend it.
Aaron is a really helpful teacher and is actually interesting, I enjoy going to his class. You take quizzes by yourself first then with a group so that makes it easier. The tests are a little difficult but if you study the information you should do fine in his class. Overall though it's a great class and I recommend taking it!
It's super easy to talk to him and ask questions. He explains the material pretty well and if you read the textbook and come to class, quizzes are pretty easy. It is Group Presentations, which makes the class a lot easier to get through. Every person has to play their part, but if everyone pulls their weight, easy A or B.
Aaron is such a sweetheart, he truly cares about his students. The class is an easy A/B if you try! I was in group presentations, which could either be good or bad depending on your group. He really cares about speeches so truly spend time preparing! Quizzes are easy, but tests are HARD. Good guy and good class :)
Aaron is seriously one of the best professors I've ever had! He genuinely cares about his students and does everything possible to help you. His lectures are very clear and if you pay attention in class and do the textbook reading, the tests are very easy. He also created a very comfortable environment for public speaking. Loved this class!
Aaron's the man. I took individal GCOM, and I recommend it over group/both because you can do things on your own time, and speaking by yourself is a good skill to have! Come to class, because test material is often discussed in class lecture. Tests are hard, study well. Speeches aren't bad; definitely use a Powerpoint as a visual aid! TAKE AARON!!
This class was really easy! Aaron is a great teacher who will answer questions and explains the materials really well. Being in a group also helped. Quizzes were okay and tests were a little hard but the final was easy. Just show up and do the readings and you should get an easy A or B
TAKE THIS CLASS!! Aaron is the best professor and such a nice man. Really enjoyed this class. Class is not hard at all just study for the quizzes and tests and prepare for your speeches and you should get an A or B.
Aaron is literally one of the greatest professors I've had. He has such a big heart and is very knowledgable about the subject matter. He will help you in anyway you need it. I've really enjoyed being in his class. TAKE HIM!!!!
Coming from someone with terrible speech anxiety, Aaron makes sure the classroom is a comfortable environment and he is very encouraging.
My interest level in the course is so low that I would forget I even took it. The class is fast paced and you should probably read your textbook. Quizzes weekly on 2+ chapters at a time. Chill guy, lenient on speech grades. Id say take him because of the speeches. He's cool. Chill class environment. DO NOT TAKE AT 8AM!
Aaron is awesome! He loves to teach and he gets his points about communication across very well. Come into class with reading the chapters you were supposed to and be open-minded about the course and things should be great. I'm glad this is a Gen Ed because it has definitely changed how I see communication. DEFINITELY recommend him!
Tough class but Aaron is awesome. He really does care about the students and is passionate about what he teaches. Cares about people, cares about learning, may seem like a stickler but once you get to know him you'll really enjoy his classes. Do the work and he will appreciate you, you will do well.
Very passionate about GCOM and he engages all of the class with examples and criticism. He is a great professor.
Aaron was a killer prof. He was so chill with the class and just really got on a whole new level with you. He is really passionate about GCOM and gives super clear and understandable examples of every concept in the class. I would give him and his class a 10/10. I wish I could have him for the rest of my SCOM classes!
Aaron is a wonderful professor who cares about his students. It is not difficult to excel in his class as long as you are willing to put forth some effort. A few classes were pretty dry, lecture based, but most were interesting and often interactive. My ONLY complaint is that I had class during his office hours and he often didn't respond to emails
Aaron Noland is one of the best professors at JMU. He is always willing to help and definitely makes class entertaining and clear to follow. To the person who rated him poorly, you not having a lick of interest in the class is irrelevant to his quality of teaching. AARON IS THE BEST!
Aaron is a fantastic teacher! One of the nicest guys I know. He is super helpful and understanding and does a great job of explaining things. The book is also pretty entertaining to read, although I didn't use it as much. You don't need to take notes in class - he wants you to listen. Be able to participate in group work. Great guy, great class!
Great teacher. The first exam was hard but second one was easy. he is really funny and loves his students.
Aaron is a very nice guy, but is not college professor material. Although the class is interesting and he makes it fun, he does not warn you on upcoming assignments and the testsspeeches are pretty tough. Twice a week, you need to read and outline 20-30 pages in the textbook, and you take 10 question online quizzes. Alot of work for a gen ed
He is a great teacher! You have 3 exams total (the third is cumulative) and he gives you a study guide for the exams the very first day so that you can fill it in while you do the assigned readings. He is also hilarious. He makes you look forward to coming to class.
Aaron is an amazing professor. He is so funny and makes you love GCOM. He's laid back and really relatable. Attendance not mandatory and didn't use the book too much. The tests are a little tough but he prepares you well. He gives you a lot of time to prepare for speeches and other assignments. 4 speeches total, 10 quizzes, outlines. Take Him!
Noland was an excellent teacher, and made the class bearable. Definitely keep track of assignments, because they'll sneak up on you. He is very helpful and understanding. Read and take notes on the textbook and put effort into your speeches and you'll do well!
Aaron is an awesome guy. He really relates to you and is so understanding. He makes class enjoyable to come to. I would definitely take him again.
Aaron is a likable guy and a decent teacher. He has one flaw: he is very disorganized. Sometimes he will email you the night before class with something you have to read or a quiz to take that has to be done before you see him. Also tends to spring assignments on you with little time to actually complete them. Does let out class early a lot though.
Aaron is probably the best GCOM teacher &an amazing human being. He's super nice & funny-I enjoyed going to class. Be ready to participate bc the majority of his lectures are class discussions. Gives a study guide at the beginning of the semester 4 u 2 use when reading the textbook so you dont waste time reading stuff that you don't need to know
Aaron was a wonderful professor. He is a tough grader on speeches, but if you go to him during office hours he is willing to help you out. I am a debater so I didn't struggle with the speeches, but I know some students did. His lectures rarely deviate from the textbook, but he is funny and relevant.
He is a really personable guy, super friendly. The presentations are graded fairly. The tests(2 of them besides the final) are all examples of things you've discussed. He was a joy to have and if you get the chance you should take his class.
Aaron's class is really awesome. He's hilarious and you kind of forget that you're learning because the class is so laid back and fun. The only thing is that he's not that helpful and when you ask for help(go to his office hours) he acts as if you're bothering him wasting his time. The hardest part of the class is speeches so prepare well!
Cares about his students & wants us to do well. 4 speeches (2 require little effort). Tests & quizzes are tough. He gives you a study guide of all the terms to know for the year(helpful). He is relatively easy, but requires more work than other GCOM professors, but it is worth it because he is hilarious & inspirational. I got a B+ in this class.
Aaron Noland is my favorite professor so far at JMU. There are 4 speeches, but only 2 are very significant. Tests are harder than expected because they are mostly application. Make sure you read because he gives reading quizzes, but they are multiple choice. Lectures are fun and interesting, and he is very laid back. I wish I could take him again!
Aaron was really funny and a great teacher! He expects you to work for your grade, but if you give it your best effort and attend class, it's an easy A. One of the best GCOM teachers around! Watch out for the final though, it's tough.
Aaron is awesome! He explains concepts clearly and gives examples that students really understand. He's funny, class is never boring. The two exams are tough, only to prepare you for the final. Two group speeches, one small individual speech, and lots of little individualgroup quizzes. One of the best GCOM professors, take him!
Awesome teacher! 1010 would take again. Cares a lot for his students and our education. He is a student himself, so he understands. And he makes the group aspect not-so-horrible. Attendance is mandatory, but I loved going to class. He makes you participate, but it's fun and he likes it when you speak up and have a personality! Good luck!
Aaron is one of the best teachers I have ever had! He really prepares you for the test and MREST and isn't that hard of a grader on speeches (checks every step). He makes class fun and interesting and really wants his students to do well. Really into his outside projects which is cool. Super nice guy I can't say enough nice things about him
Aaron is one of the greatest professors I've had at JMU. He's very funny and very helpful when it comes to the mandatory two group speeches you have to do. Definitely take him if you can.
Aaron insisted we call him just Aaron. That's a preview of how cool he is. His small lectures keep you engaged, he's funny, and charismatic. We take individual tests on chapters we read, then the same test in groups. Gives clear directions on what he expects. Attendance only graded on speech days. Great professor who enhances a decent class.
I LOVED AARON! He made SCOM so enjoyable and he really enjoys teaching. His class is very straightforward and you know whats expected of you. His lectures are very interactive, fun, and he makes everything relatable. 10/10 would take again.
I love this man!!! Best professor i have had at JMU so far, he is so funny and i am never bored in this class!
he makes class really interesting and involved. lots of opportunities to get a good grade!
TAKE AARON IF YOU CAN! Best professor I had this semester and I looked forward going to his class. He is so funny and makes lectures go by so fast. Make sure to read the chapter or at least glance over before taking online rats or you will not pass them. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Nolan is so funny, and his class was interesting. He's an advisor so he understands and wants his students to do well. There are 3 speeches, and then 2 tests, one of which was open note, and the second one we had a notecard for. There are online open note quizzes, and then you take the exact same quiz with your speech group. Definitely take him!
Aaron is a great professor. If looking for the easiest SCOM, would not recommend taking him. If looking to learn and have fun in class, would recommend taking him. Good sense of humor and really wants students to be successful. Prepares you well for speeches and the final. If Communications Major, definitely take him!
Not the easiest SCOM class but definitely an enjoyable one. He expects a lot from his students but he gives a lot of help and resources for you to be able to meet those expectations. Aaron is an extremely nice man and gives funny, entertaining lectures. 2 tests, one was open note and the other we could have a notecard with info on it.
He was my favorite teacher freshman year. He really knows his stuff and helps your understand it. He also made the class very interesting. All the information you need for the exam is on the study guide and from the text book.
Awesome teacher, gives you the basics of what you need to do for an A but the final is pretty difficult but all SCOM students have to take the same one because it's given out my the university
Aaron is a super approachable prof with fun lectures. "More work" than usual for an intro SCOM class: online chapter quizzes, 2 online tests, 2 group speeches, one easy individual speech, and the university-standard final. Still, if you show up and do minimal studying, easy A.
Good communicator, real funny dude and down to earth, not stressful at all, small class sizes so its easy to communicate and get stuff done, gives specifics on what is due and when and how to do it
Professor Noland is an all around great guy who really makes class interesting. There are a lot of assignments in this class, so if you don't like homework/ taking quizzes frequently then this may not be for you but as long as you do the reading and pay attention in class you should get an A or at least a high B! Would FOR SURE recommend him.
this man lives by the textbook. you don't necessarily have to read the whole thing but you definitely will use it. he gives weekly quizzes from the chapters but gives you a study guide so you know what you should read. every other week you have to write reflections where you apply the content to your life. easy quizzes, ok tests. real funny guy
Loved Aaron as a person, he's a funny guy, however, his tests are not the easiest(2 online tests). The outlines and the speeches were weighted way more than it needed to be and you couldn't really help it if a person slacked off in your group. Normally you have the same grade as your group. Not a class for an easy A but he makes class interesting
Aaron is definitely one of the best professors at JMU. This class is fun, and it's definitely not an easy A, but if you put in good effort you'll do fine. There's a lot of reading, but he provides a study guide that tells you exactly what you need to know for weekly quizzes. Tests are a little tough. It's enjoyable, especially with a good group.
Aaron was one of my favorite teachers this semester. He's a good guy that cares about his students and makes an effort to get to know everyone. Class is not easy A and he's a tough grader, but put in the work and you'll do fine.
Aaron is an awesome person and I would recommend taking him for this class. The speeches were a lot of work and you have to meet with your speech group to prepare a lot outside of class. Be prepared to do a lot of research and study for tests. The material seems like common sense, but you have to study at least a little bit to do well.
LOVED THIS CLASS. This was my first class in the mornings and I always looked forward to going. He is funny and always makes the lectures interesting. You have online quizzes and team quizzes. 2 group speeches. He's a pretty easy grader just pay attention and participate in class and he'll love you. I would definitely recommend
Aaron is an awesome professor who takes his time for developing student's communication skills. He is inspirational and very approachable for questions. TAKE THIS CLASS IF YOU'RE AFRAID OF PUBLIC SPEAKING. Not because it is easy, but because this class will hands-down help you get over your fear of speeches. Would take again.
Aaron is pretty good compared to other professors. His lectures are pretty good, gives good examples. He's funny. Attendance IS mandatory. DO NOT BE LATE. Test are okay you just have to make sure you take good notes in class and really read the material that is the textbook. Do the work and you'll pass easily.
he cares about you as a person/student, wants to know you and teach you
Aaron is one of my favorite professors. I was really nervous about public speaking and this class but he made it such a comfortable environment. He really cares about you and wants to see you so well. You can get most of the work done in class and just have to practice at home. Take him for 242!!!
Aaron comes off intimidating, but once you get to know him makes the class fun. He jokes around but keeps the information serious. He is sarcastic, so connects to the students well. A lot of reading and writing for the class, but not a hard grader.
Aaron is the best professor I've had so far at JMU and is an amazing professor. I was dreading taking SCOM, but Aaron made it so fun and his lectures were so funny. I really appreciate all the effort he put into his lectures. He made the classroom a comfortable place to give speeches if you have the opportunity TAKE HIM!!!!
Super nice, very accessible outside of class which is nice if your schedule conflicts with his office hours. He has a lot of assignments, and you NEED to read the textbook if you want to pass his class.
all is going well and I have an A in the class until it is 2 weeks until finals and we get a 20 page paper, 11 page portfolio, presentation and difficult exam last minute. I finished the class with a B, but that was ridiculous. Be careful because at the end you will be taking on A LOT of work. I didnt really learn anything about leadership either.
Aaron was an awesome teacher. He was really easy going, pretty fun and overall made class pretty bearable. He gives really good feedback, and if you practice your speeches you should be able to get a good grade!! By far one of the best professors I've taken at JMU
Harder than most other gen-ed SCOM, but a great professor if you want to improve your public speaking. 4 speeches, a couple easy booster grades, 2 exams, and multiple quizzes. All quizzes and exams done online outside of class so fill out the study guide to use when taking those. You do need the textbook to pass the quizzes which are from readings.
Aaron is the coolest guy/professor ever! I had him my first semester of Freshman year and he made the transition into college easier. His tests are harder than necessary but he makes class fun and really cares about his students. if you have a fear of public speaking take him, he does a great job with making the classroom comfortable. TAKE HIM!!
He's a really great teacher and his lectures are extremely interesting. The class itself isn't too bad except for the fact that you don't get to pick your own groups. Would have really enjoyed this class more if that was the case!
TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. This is a guy who understands what education is about. He focuses on teaching you, not grading you. Genuinely the best professor Ive ever had. Incredibly honest, funny, and intelligent. Dont miss out on him.
Aaron is phenomenal, hands down best professor I had at JMU. He understands students and it shows in his class. No busy work or work that made me feel like my time was wasted. If you have the opportunity, take him, you wont regret it.
