Aaron is honestly the worst professor I have ever had. He's very self absorbed and never misses an opportunity to showcase his knowledge, even if it's completely irrelevant to what you are learning in class. He emails the class at least four times a day and if you email him directly with a question, his response is usually short and cold.
dr. perey is rude, self absorbed and acts entitled. he blows your email inbox up. the class is made to be super difficult and if you don't do it his way, you fail.
dr. perey is passive aggressive and rude to all of his students. he acts like he's better than everyone and i honestly don't know why ou gave him a job. he needs a serious attitude adjustment
NO. THE coldest professor, emails us about a million times a day, all rude and passive aggressive. Ive not heard of one person actually liking him. Seriously, if you can avoid him, DO IT. Someone must have hurt him because who is like this to stressed out kids
Dr. Perey is a knowledgeable guy, no doubt about it. However, he seems to forget that we are in a pandemic and that is stressing students out. He spent ten minutes of a lecture yelling at us about not watching the lab videoscant say I was in the group that didnt watch them but like?? Ten minutes?? Really rude to his students and isnt supportive
Lecture slides consisted of slides with vague bullet points in which difficult concepts were touched on and not addressed in depth . Ended up retaking the class with Corinne Neilson and I highly suggest taking the class with her and not Perey. I learned more, was able to think critically about material, compared to his class.
This is the worst professor I have ever had. His lectures are extremely confusing when I had him for Bios 1300 and barely anyone passed. He has said he wants students to struggle. Gives a lot of trick questions on exams. HE ALSO DOES NOT GIVE ENOUGH TIME ON EXAMS! He asks very hard questions that you have second to answer (for 1310 lab). DONT TAKE
literally so bad words cant even explain
Honestly I thought he was a pretty nice guy, always was very helpful during office hours. Im assuming the bad reviews are because he pushes students to actually understand the material instead of memorize, which is how it should be. Tests can be difficult because of the wording, but definitely very possible to do very well.
The most unprofessional professor I have ever had. I don't even believe he should be allowed to continue teaching. Absolutely awful.
dr. perey is insanely rude. he's yelled at our class multiple times throughout the semester for the littlest things. he has NO empathy towards his students. he's super conceited and joked about my struggles in the class. i was struggling with my mental health due to my poor grades and he just joked about how bad i was doing. unprofessional.
Perey has yelled at us, CALLED US NAMES, changed the exam criteria multiple times, asks trick questions, hardly responds to emails... I went to his office hours and got YELLED at for 15 minutes saying that I need to understand this information as a nursing major. I am NOT nursing major. He made a false assumption and treated me poorly for it. 0/10.
I took BIOS 1300 with Aaron Perey and I honestly loved the course. I understand it can be challenging- it's a weed out class; But he will go above and beyond to make sure you understand the material. He would meet my study group countless times to answer our questions and clarify topics. You're going to have to work hard but he WILL help you :)
I took BIOS 1300 last fall with Aaron Perey and he's still my favorite professor. I understand the class is hard- it's a weed out class; But he will go above and BEYOND to make sure you understand material. He met my group countless times to clarify and explain things. He WILL help you succeed- you just need to ask him!
He seems to get a bad rep on here but I'm not sure why. I really do think he's a great professor and students who struggle may take it out on the professor instead of recognizing it could be their learning style that holds them back. I've never seen him not help a student in need, be ready to not just memorize but MASTER material.
Hard class but a good guy! Good luck!
Dr. Perey was extremely kind and helpful when needed. He doesn't want you to fail, but it is a hard class so you must meet him with the same energy that he puts into lectures.
Dr. Perey was rude an unhelpful. If you have the chance, avoid him.
worst prof ever. rude, untimely, unhelpful.
I really struggled in this class. I've spoken with other students who experienced similar things as me. I think Dr. Perey could've tried harder to help his students. We all felt abandoned and upset that we didn't receive the help we needed. I would suggested avoiding Perey if you can, and if you can't, be prepared to do lots of your own research.
He told us in the first lecture that 53% of his students fail every year. He wanted us to think we would fail so we would work harder, but it just pissed people off. He never told us what to focus on exams. His study sessions were useless, and honestly more confusing. Overall horrible professor. If you can take anyone besides him DO IT!!!!!
Dr. Perey did not teach me my material that was on my exams. Lectures were not helpful and did not prepare for the exams. Final exam had an average of a 62 percent if that says anything. Very frustrating taking online.
The class is very difficult, I understand that's not Dr. Perey's decision. But he does decide how class goes, and it went horribly. He yelled at students during lecture and I've heard he did the same in office hours. He was often rude to me, asking questions just seemed to anger him. I will have to retake the class and I'm staying far away from him
Surprised he is still employed here, OU doesnt have enough money to fire him and hire someone who actually cares about their students. Many of my friends have transferred solely because of him. I truly believe he gets off by watching students fail his class.
dr perey made excuses ALL semester. he told us that he counted how many emails he received this semester as a way to prove it "acceptable" for ignoring his students. he also claimed that we started rumors about him because of that. shockingly unprofessional. he also called us all cheaters in multiple emails and yelled at us in lecture.
He made the second semester of his class even harder than the first. Most likely getting back at us for horrible teacher evaluations at the end of the semester. Again, extremely emotional and acts on them. Emails us 50x a day, this man does not know how to collect his thoughts into one email, has to send out different ones with different thoughts.
I think I can confidently say that Aaron Perey has ruined many student's passion for nursing. He claims you have to "master the material" yet in every one of his tests he will hyperfocus on one topic. He will also ask questions that are outside the scope of what he is teaching us. Most of his exams have INCREDIBLY low averages, and he never curves.
Aaron Perey is simply rude. His emails are rude, and he seems to never be able to collect his thoughts into one email, rather, he sends multiple out at a time. From accusing an entire class of being cheaters to making exams much harder than they need to be, Aaron Perey is truly on of the worst professors I have had at Ohio University.
He wasn't as bad as most people make him seem. He was very nice and helpful but you have to work for your grade. He has said a few questionable things in emails before though. Honestly if you do your best and try you will succeed
The last person who rated him who said he isn't that bad is insane, I have never hated a class as much as I hate this one, and I was valedictorian in High school. His teaching is monotonous and is a huge struggle to get through, tests are extremely hard, you have to know every tiny last detail to do well. His emails are blunt and lack emotion.
Dr. Perey was one of the best professors I've had at OU. I'm now a sophomore and I took his class my freshman year. If you invest in the class (like you are supposed to do) he will help you succeed in any way he can. He knew almost all students by name in our 300 person lecture. It is important to invest in the class; it is not easy at all.
I have studied for these exams weeks prior, for hours a day. I have changed my learning style. Nothing has helped. SIs and exam reviews do nothing, they are not accurate of how the exam is formatted or how hard they are. The professor expects us to know content just as in depth as they do. Prof. has ruined many students confidence and dreams.
online because of covid
Dr. Perey is not the easiest professor to take. He is pretty strict on his standards, but if you work hard and stay determined, you will pass. If you are in the nursing program, he tries to make you understand that this is material you must memorize and understand sense you will have someone's life in your hands one day. Immature sometimes.
Dr. Perey does not care about his students at all. When everyone failed the first two exams and his job was at risk, he finally gave a curve. If you try really hard and study for 10 hours a day, you will do fine in this class, but if you don't have the time to put it, you are absolutely screwed.
I honestly really liked Dr. Perey. He genuinely cares for the wellbeing of his students. He helped me get through a tough time in my life and I am forever grateful. However, his tests are insane. I had private tutoring and everything. I understand that it's a hard class, but this class was wayyy to difficult for a 1000-level course.
You have a weekly lab quiz that only consists of 10 questions which covers hours and hours of material. Majority of my class got an F every single week on them. Notes rarely help on tests because he likes including questions on things we have not thoroughly discussed.
This class is hard you really have to work for your grade Dr. Perey has really grown on me his lectures are energetic and informative but the labs are what killed it for me there is a long lab Manuel each week that covers a lot of information and you quiz once a week of hours of material i study more for the quizzes than I do for the exam
I don't understand Perey's low rating on here. I thought he was a good professor and enjoyed the class with him. The material is difficult and you have to put a lot of time in to the course to be successful but he is willing to meet with you and wants you to do well.
I dont think people realize how much studying theyre gonna have to do when they start the class. He did say somethings like only 50% pass the class each semester at the beginning which I thought was unnecessary and just made people mad. Overall, hes very nice and if you go to his office hours he will talk with you about anything.
Was one of the worst professors Ive had. Didn't take about his students or their grades at all. He actually took pride on most of his students failing. A lot of people in my major changed just because of him. I've taken this class as a college credit in high school and it was nothing like this one. So much information that all over the place.
All around a good class if you put in the time to study. He recommended starting to study for exams a week in advance which I would say helped a lot. Extra credit homework assignments saved my grade and brought it up 4% so I would definitely do it. Lectures can be boring and he flies through content. Sometimes we got through 2 chapters in 1 class.
Perey is not a bad person just not a great teacher. He formats his classes in a way that is not beneficial to his students which is why I gave him such a low rating. I'm not going to hate on his character but will hate on his class. I really think he needs to reform the way he goes about teaching his classes honestly. Wishing him well in the future
All in all Dr Perey is not a bad professor I learned very quicly on that you really need to take the time to study for this class This is what most people don't understand and get upset when they fail the class He offers extra credit that can boost your grade up by almost half a letter he takes pride in his students who also take pride in him
Dr. Perey was a good professor. Everything he said in class would come up on the exam. The class was definitely not easy by any means however I did enjoy it as it was the building block of my major. He constantly says you need to read the book but I never opened it once. Just take good notes and use quizlet as much as you can and you will be fine
He is probably an OK guy, but he is a terrible teacher. I got A's on all his open-note lecture exams not because I knew anything, but because I relied on looking up info in his (poorly organized) lecture slides. Just overall seemed too in depth for an intro class -- more cellular than gross anatomy. Changed my major because I hated it so much.
He sucks
Lecture and Lab rarely lined up. Exams were harder than they were said to be and the study questions (tophat) are nothing like the exam questions.
Perey is an overall great professor in my option. He does go fast in lectures, but all you have to do is reach out to him. He really helped me when I reached out and he was understanding about my situation.
Most difficult class ever taken
Having this professor took years off my lifespan. I went to his office hours weekly and remember one time when I had asked him to go over a test I had recently failed, and he told me that my question somehow reminded him to add extra questions to our next upcoming exam! Has a very unique way of teaching likes you depending on your participation.
First semester teaching immunology and he was absolutely amazing. Truly cares about each of his students performing well in the course. He keeps lectures engaging and interesting & creates a conductive learning place for students to learn. Test heavy, but the exams were never too difficult. The course is not hard if you put the time into it!
I enjoyed having Perey for both semesters of A&P. The class is tough but manageable
I agree that Perey is a difficult professor. His classes are very difficult, but he is honestly such a good person. I did not do well on my first exam in 1300 and did not think I would even pass the class, but he worked with me and talked me through everything for the rest of the year and I did very well in his class. It is not for the weak tho lol
Very specific questions to what he says in lecture.
I find Dr. Perey quite entertaining and fun to learn from. His class can be very tough for those who are not willing to put in the work. But, he is 100% willing to help you with the content not just outside of class but also during lectures. You can pass if you are putting in just as much effort as he is.
its a rigorous class, don't take this if you're looking for the basics and have no use for it later on
Hard class but a good professor. A lot of extra credit is available if you do on time, very easy extra credit. I'm not that smart and I'm ending with a C-
This man makes no sense. Just read the textbook. He lies about the things that are going to be on the exams and the exam reviews are not what will be on the test. At least he puts cute cats on his slides sometimes.
Dr. Perey is a great professor; people say mean things for no reason. Sometimes he gets frustrated but only after people will ask the dumbest questions about straightforward content he's already covered. Go to lecture, find a study buddy, and study. Do the extra credit that doesn't take long and ASK QUESTIONS, especially in the lab. You got it:)
Perey is honestly a great professor and although his class is extremely challenging, it is because he wants us to really know the material. The questions on the exams are ridiculously specific and slightly unreasonable but still manageable. He does offer easy extra credit though throughout the semester and I would not have passed without it.
Passive aggressive when you ask questions in class.
I love Dr. Perey!! His class is pretty difficult, but he's 100% willing to help, his office hours are amazing for asking questions or just talking about anatomy! He also does online review sessions before exams. There's a lot a material to study but it's not bad. There is a textbook, but I've never read it once lol
He changes the entire class from 1300 to 1310. He made all the exams in person for this semester even though half the class failed when his exams were online. also exams are way too difficult and have nothing to do with the lecture slides
I think we should be fair when we say our opinion about Dr perey He is a good person, and as long as you work hard to study, you will find the questions easy, and if they are difficult, then that is a challenge for you. I think an intelligent person will not refuse the challenge
Dr. Perey is a nice guy, just awful at teaching. He makes things so much more difficult than it has to be, is unsure of half the material he teaches, which is right off the slides which isn't helpful. If you need general A&P, go to a different person or campus all together- he teaches in far too much depth than you need for general A&P.
this class is absolutely awful and i don't wish it on my worst enemy. i studied over 450 flashcards directly from the lecture slides and got a D on the last exam. i am a very intelligent and hardworking but that does not mean anything in this class. he makes everything harder than it has to be and his awful slides are embodied undiagnosed ADHD.
I love Dr. Perey! Yes, his class is challenging but he is willing to work with you!! I would recommend getting a tutor or going to office hours to break down his lecture slides. His exams aren't definitions based, they are based on understanding. You need to understand the content in order to do good on your exams.
Dr. Perey was a very difficult professor. During lectures, he reads through a slideshow and tests are very hard. Some things are worried just in an attempt to trick you. Have to study hard to get a good grade but it is possible. I recommend doing every smartbook he offers, as it is for extra credit.
Horrible teacher Just reads the slide and expect us to do the rest. He tries to explain different things but at his level, he doesn't explain it for anyone to understand the material. Also, he talks way too fast during lectures. I wouldn't wish this class on my worst enemy!! go someone else to take this course then transfer the credit over.
I would recommend all students to take this class with corinne nielsen
If you are actually willing to work hard then he is a very accessible teacher who is willing to help you. Period the end. He has all these bad reviews but maybe 10 or 15 kids actually showed up for office hours consistently throughout the year. If you study, you will do fine. If you don't, you won't. Simple as that.
This class is very hard, but if you put time into studying you will do fine. Exams are in person but if you study enough and study the right way you will pass. The lectures are very boring but if you pay attention you will do good on exams. He is a very nice person just not the best teacher or test giver.
very hard
i do not like this class super hard
if there was an option for a 0 that's what Perey would be. if there's ANYONE else available for bios, please take them.
So many people have issues with Dr. Perey, but personally, I love him. He is the sweetest man, and he wants you to pass his class. Yes, his exams are hard, but he basically gives you what is on the test. He also gives extra credit, and if you do all of it, it will rise your grade about 5%. Just go to class, memorize his slides, and you will pass.
This class is difficult, but if you show up and study well you will be fine. Tests are hard, but he basically pulls all the questions from his lecture slides, which he posts on blackboard. Don't waste time reading the textbook. There are also a ton of easy extra credit assignments that can raise your grade by 5%. Dr. Perey isn't out to get you.
While this is a difficult class, if you pay attention and study the slides, you will do fine. The slides can be confusing or organized oddly at times, but they have everything you need for the exams. He gives lots of opportunities for bonus points, so make sure you do them. I didn't like that the lectures and labs to not coincide in material.
Was very hard, really just read slides.
My biggest pieces of advice to be successful- Do every single smart book assignment (worth half a letter grade at the end) Being familiar with the textbook prior to class helps solidify the material during lecture so much better Use Quizlet or something of that sort to study each individual term and concept on his lecture slides directly.
this class was very difficult and it's important that you apply yourself all semester, and prepare to study and teach yourself a LOT. dr. perey isn't out to get you but he won't make it a simple pass either. DO ALL OF THE SMARTBOOKS & EXTRA CREDIT - it'll increase your final grade by ~5%. go to office hours & SI as well, they help so much!
He's mean
this class took years off of my lifespan. he just reads straight off the slides, exam questions are worded to try to trick you. you absolutely have to study a lot and use all of your resources or you will not pass. i recommend doing every smart book assignment since they are extra credit. try to take this class with a different professor if you can
Dr. Perey gets a bad rap for BIOS 1300 and 1310 a lot. Yes, the class is very challenging, but if you go to every lecture, do all the extra credit, go to office hours, and go to all the SI sessions you'll do fine. Every pre-nursing major has to take his class, so he is forced to make the course difficult to weave out students.
This dude does not care if you pass or fail his class, honestly he would probably laugh at the failing grades in the grade book. his first words were "if this class was easy, it would be called ur mom" he's disrespectful & a little sus honestly. he teaches like we are all at his level & doesn't explain anything. save yourself & escape this.
Although he is tough, he is a super well-rounded professor. I also had him for lab section, which definitely helped, but he is always willing to answer any questions you have. He gets a bad rep, but honestly if you have a conversation with him, he's very open to helping you in whatever way you need! He's super nice and has passion for his job.
Both semesters I had Perey he was on academic probation because most people fail his class. Exams are basically impossible, even if you feel good coming out of it you're wrong. He has to heavily curve to keep his job. Lectures are very straight forward and easy to study off of. DO THE SMARTBOOKS, they heavily help your grade.
I know a lot of people dislike Dr. Perey and he teaches the anatomy for pre-nursing students. What you have to realize is this is not high school and you don't get your hand held through the class. His exams are VERY difficult and you do need to prepare and study your very hardest. However, he gives you all the materials you need and extra credit.
This class was very difficult but if you are willing to put in the work you will do well. You have to go to class to understand what is going on in his power points because they are very broad. He gives lots of extra credit take advantage! Tests are difficult, memorize his lectures and teach to friends is what I did to study.
Dr. Pereys BIOS 1300 and 1310 are hard classes. Yes, the point of these classes is to see who can put in the time and effort to pass the class. The lowest exam grade I got was an 80%. STUDY THE SLIDE SHOWS!!!!! His tests come directly from his slides. If you know that information well you will do just fine. He is a good teacher, go to office hours!
terrible.
DONT TAKE THIS CLASS TRANSFER IF YOU CAN I AM BEGGING YOU. This is the worst class I have taken. He's on his 3rd year of academic probation. He cant teach. Only grades are exam/quizzes. Dont even bother studying cause its never enough. he's sus. Exams makes no sense. you will be depressed. psa IMPORTANT (he's the only professor for this class.)
Literally do anything else besides take this class for the sake of your mental health. Along with myself, many students are transferring schools, changing majors, or withdrew from the class. His exams are nearly impossible no matter how long you study, and it is the most draining thing I have ever experienced. Save yourself the time and energy.
Dr. Perey has a really bad reputation as the final boss of the nursing program, however, by attending lecture, taking detailed notes, and studying them, I performed above average on every exam. Exams match his slides, he sets you up for success, he curves exams, and there's extra credit. There's not much more the guy can do, and the rest is on you.
Perey is a nice guy, but his teaching isn't great. He reads directly off his presentation slides and does little to elaborate on them. The only grades you can receive are for the exams, lab quizzes and some bonus point opportunities. His test questions are fairly confusing, and his exam averages are typically low. If you skip, expect a low grade.
I am going to get straight to the point, yes this class is tough however it is very doable. do not waste your time reading the textbook everything you need for exams are on the slides, go over the slides actually understand them. People give perey the worst rep (hes not that bad, just a bit odd) the people who fail arent studying. u got this:)
Everyone hates Perey, but he's so funny and very clearly cares about the class. I think people who dislike him are more often than not just people who are already not doing well in the class, and take it out on him. He's really just a funny nice guy who's teaching a hard class.
This class isn't easy but it's not supposed to be! Dr. Perey gets a bad rep but its only because people don't put in the work to succeed. He gives you every chance to do well: bonus points, exam reviews, etc. DO THE SMARTBOOKS! they give you 5% bonus. Exam questions are directly from the slides, study them! No homework so grade is very exam heavy.
While this class was the hardest class I have ever taken, it was also the most rewarding. Professor Perey is VERY accessible outside of the classroom and truly wants his students to succeed. He gets a bad rep due to the difficulty of his course, but you get what you put into this class and is by no means impossible
I'm not going to sugar coat it, this class is challenging and takes a lot of studying. The effort you put in reflects the grade you receive. Dr. Perey really does want students to do well. Don't be afraid to ask questions, he does a good job answering. This class is really hard but if you study you'll do great.
Perey's BIOS1300 is notoriously tough, but engaging with the material and using all available resources like the textbook, study aids, and unstuck study can help you succeed. Tough grading, but worth putting in the effort.
He is a very sweet and helpful man, he is very helpful when meeting one on one. He gives so many resources to help you understand. It is a hard class but he is very helpful.
Anatomy and physiology is a very hard class but Dr. Perey goes out of his way to make it as easy as possible. There are a lot of bonus questions/extra points given in the class and he normally curves the exams by a few points. Dr. Perey is just a chill guy whose very passionate about anatomy and physiology.
Dr. Perey is a smart guy that's willing to help, but you have to really understand the stuff if you want to pass exams. If you go to office hours and put in the work, you'll do fine. He gets a bad rep because people don't want to study.
Absolutely horrible. Exams are impossible.
He spends most of his time just lecturing and reading off of his slides. He teaches a rigorous and very test heavy course. The content itself is not difficult in my opinion it is just a LOT of content all at once that makes it hard. He wasn't great but he wasn't really bad. Just make sure to be disciplined and proactive when taking this class!
A&P II is very different from A&P I and significantly harder, so make sure that you are studying. Don't wait until the last second: try and study as he goes through the lecture slides. Tbh the exams sometimes make zero sense but he is very accessible outside of class and kind when you are asking questions. Go to the PAL + Teams exam reviews!
Aaron Perey loves what he teaches and will do whatever he can to help you, I personally have my with him several times and find it very very helpful, his course is difficult but the material is. He tries to help you however he can.
Okay so I know the reviews that are made against him, and most of them are true. Is this a really hard class, yes. Is there A LOT of material to know, yes. Are his exams ridiculously hard, yes. However, he knows exactly what he is talking about. If you go to lecture, that helps. The class is super hard, but it is passable if u have priorities.
Dr Perey is the best. I love his lectures he gives so much effort in explaining and simplifying the concepts. Everything is very organized and ready for us to study. He always seems happy and excited when he is teaching and his positive energy is what made me love anatomy and physiology.
He talks super fast which is really hard when it's a tough concept like anatomy. Very test heavy. And no funny business he got mad at my class for little things like packing up early.
This class is hard and takes up almost all your free time(if you want an A).Dont let people scare you into thinking its impossible. When I say memorize his slides I MEAN IT.If you know each slide show thoroughly you will pass his exams. This course takes effort and that tends to be the determining factor between people who do well and those who dont.
Incredibly passionate and knowledgeable about his profession. If you know his slides you will do good on the exams. If you have questions go to office hours and ask, don't be scared of him. He is super caring but strict with exams and don't bother trying to cheat, it won't work. Just go to class, pay attention, and study the content.
I am normally a straight A student until I took this class. The lecture exams were very difficult and the averages were normally very low. The amount of information needed to be memorized for each exam was a lot and I spent over 20 hours studying to still receive a bad grade. Theres no study guide for the exams and I felt unprepared for each exam.
Dr Perey is the GOAT. Second only to LeBron. He has such a positive attitude and is very organized. Very knowledgeable in Anatomy and Physiology. The Lectures go by fast and there is a lot of information given each Lecture. Lecture + the Lab each week is very hard and there is so much to study. YOU NEED TO STUDY DAILY TO PASS.
He is super passionate about anatomy and knows a lot of information. He ended up curving all of our exams, and he is dropping everyone's lowest exam score. Don't let people fool you, his exams aren't bad at all. You just need to study his slides and memorize them, and you'll do good on them.
Perey is passionate about A&P but struggles with effective teaching. His lectures often ramble off-topic, and he seems disconnected from student performance. He drops the lowest exam and curves most tests due to difficulty. Study his slides carefully and like your life depends on it, if you want to pass.
I'm a 4.0 student who studies 20+ hours weekly, never misses lecture, and attend every PAL, yet I have a C-. Exams cover 4–6 chapters with 400+ slides total and only 2 days to learn the new material. He teaches at a PhD level and not a freshman college student level, offers no makeup exams or extra credit, and students cry after every single exam.
I would walk to this class and hoped to get hit by a moving car rather than going to his lectures. OU needs to get rid of this man pls
horrible professor
Alright Perry class is a mix of hard and easy and hears why be prepared to burn out you have to memorize the slides top to bottom or your cooked I fear the first 2 test were a breeze but that 3 and 4 ooo yeah crazy he make long multiple choice question that by the time you read the options you forget what it's even asking it's definitely do able :)
I studied every single day for hours, and I still do not do well on his exams. I think he gets off on the fact that this class is so hard. The multiple-choice questions on his exams consist of 5-10 options per question, and they are all worded the same, which makes it super confusing. He's the only anatomy lecturer for this specific course.
Perry class is honestly a tough one. Be prepared to memorize his slides top to bottom i mean memorized every little thing to the pictures to the little bullet points. Don't study alone go to pal. test 1 & 2 were easy but 3&4 is where they are really trying to weed people out you only get 0.55pts worth of homework so the exams really carry.
A&P is not easy but is doable, his exams are only based on his lecture slides so really study those and I mean memorize those entirely. The homework is only 0.55 to 0.56 points so the exams are weighted very heavily. I don't know if next he'll do the same but every exam was curved, and you get to drop your lowest exam grade.
Beware of the test the wording is confusing but overall a good teacher
I don't know why Perey has received so many bad ratings. He is a great guy and always willing to help. Yes, the class is hard but it has to be that way if you really want to be in healthcare. Exam questions come straight from lecture slides. Great person.
Dr. Perey is a wonderful professor; he is very engaging and loves what he does. However, this is a very difficult class, and I believe that some of the ways that he goes about his material can throw some students off. Still, he urges students to contact him outside of class and offers all the resources he can.
I think that Perey is very intelligent and passionate about the subject, but he is a very fast talker and he goes through the slides very fast as well, which makes it hard to understand. His exams are difficult to understand as well and it's hard to know what to study. If you just stay on top of work you will be fine, but lab + lecture is a lot.
Perey is amazing and very passionate about the subject. He can talk fast during lectures and it's a lot of material to teach yourself. I recommend studying for exams 5 days before since the exams cover a lot of information. He takes his time to cover material and uses top hat as a great way to test our understanding.
If you put in the work outside of class you will be fine. Go to pals and the study sessions he hosts. You need to study to do good in this class. I recommend a week in advance and study his EXACT slideshows. The people that fail are those that DO NOT STUDY, do not be worried.
Professor Perey gets a bad rep because he teaches one of the harder subjects at the university. Everything that can be on the exam is in the slideshows so if you're effectively studying ALL the material, you will get at least a B. He curves grades to C average. Lecture material aligns with lab which makes understanding content easier.
He gets a bad rap, but honestly, he is not that bad. He is nice and very passionate about this subject, which you can tell. The class is hard, but if you study his exact lecture slides, you will do well on the exams. He drops the lowest lecture exam and curves almost all the exams. It is tough but if you study you will pass.
The only people doing very well in this class are geniuses. His exams are very complicated and the only way to do well is to devote all your free time for this class. He is very nice and is willing to help his students out as much as possible. He curves exams massively due to poor averages which is nice. You need to study massively to do decent.
Tough class but professor is very caring and really cares about what he is teaching. He provides all the resources needed to succeed and is more than willing to help those who ask for help. This class is very difficult because of the amount of stuff covered and pace of the class but really like the professor.
Dr. Perey has a bad reputation but I honestly think he is a great professor! Anatomy and physiology is a very difficult class, but it is doable. He is passionate about the subject and you can tell he truly cares. The exams are really hard and the homework assignments barely raise your grade, but he does curve. He is always willing to help students.
He makes things unnecessarily difficult. Take it with a different professor if you can. Lab is fine, but the lecture is awful, especially the exams; be prepared for 5-11 multiple-choice answer options per multiple-choice question.
If you don't have to take this class DO NOT!!! Anatomy is hard in general but the way Perey teaches makes it even worse. If you think you studied enough for the exam, you didn't. He words the exams to make it more difficult than it has to be. He seems like a good guy but he does not connect to the students nor cares about his fail rate. Run.
This class was the hardest class of my life. Be prepared to cry every day. He isn't a bad guy but I got a tutor, went to pals, attended every class, office hours, open labs, met individually and still might not pass.. I don't even know what to tell u if u are taking this class. Maybe just study every second of ur life? Good luck bc you'll need it.
Truly an amazing professor. Although I've seen a lot of bad reviews, he is super talented & knowledgeable in his work. Studying is super important, and the exams are hard; but I feel like after the first exam, it's easier to prepare for future ones. Dr. Perey is passionate & my learning experience was amazing in his class. I highly recommend him!
four lecture exams (all but 1st exam & final was curved and brought my score up 7-8% each time) lowest dropped- 40% , final-10%, smartbook-10%, bonus.50, lab and lecture grades-combined, exam average class 65-75% final average 52%. Dr. Perey is super accommodating and nice, exams are tricky, final grades- anatomy lab 40%, anatomy lecture 60%! GL!
Professor Perey is great at lecturing and explaining what's on the slides very clearly as he is definitely passionate about what he teaches. The exams are just extremely tricky. It is possible to pass, you just need to spend a lot of time learning the slides. Don't focus on textbook or McGraw, memorize the slides.
I thoroughly enjoyed having Dr. Perey as a professor. Admittedly, had previous A&P knowledge, but his course is far more in-depth, BUT I believe that he is incredibly clear about what it takes to pass. It is test-heavy because the course is SO large. TRUST, use your resources! THEY HELP, and if you remember through stories, Perey is great for that!
