extremely easy class, but he does an excessive amount of group work so if you don't like group work then probably best not to take it. its not group work for grades though, its just small exercises to learn the material that i think were really useless and were just used to take up time in the class. again, really easy class though.

I ACTUALLY LOOKED FORWARD TO CLASS! He's an amazing professor who does everything in his power to make the lectures interesting and to keep you engaged. TAKE HIS CLASS YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT. As far as the work goes, it's composed of short essays and quizzes that are open book. He's explains assignments in details and gives good feedback.

Take it. Easy professor and a very entertaining class to be in. 4 speeches and all are easy. If you mess up, he helps you out. You don't have to read the textbook but it is the midterm and final but it's open book so it's easy. An actual class that will teach you how to learn to speak and helps improve speaking.

Great professor, knowledgeable in his field, cares about his students progression throughout the course. Workload was not intense, plenty of time to work on your speeches, 4 in total. Phenomenal professor would highly recommend.

He made something that was causing me a great deal of worry (public speaking) bearable and even assisted me in overcoming my fear. He is extremely accessible via email and will go out of his way to assist you. Overall, an incredible class.

Professor Shapiro was a really great professor, he gives you good feedback on your speeches. He is really funny and you will have a fun time in the class and will learn how to speak in public. The class is engaging and not boring. If you need to take this class definitely take it with him you won't regret it.

This professor is really different from the others. He cares about his students, want s you to succeed and is very clear. On top of that since he is a professional public speaker he has a loud voice, a lot of experience and is incredibly funny. He gives you time to work on your speeches, and gives days in class to practice.

Prof. Shapiro is excellent. I have no words to describe how engaging and caring he is. He has a clear voice and takes care that everyone understands. Suuuuper funny, creative and inspirational. This class was great! He engaged the classroom all the time and was helpful. He is a good speaker and manages the time in class. He gets you out of your comfort zone in a good way. I am happy that he was my professor, and I definitely recommend this class to everyone.

Took his class for a summer term and the experience was very gratifying! he made almost 4 hour class entertaining and fun. Would definitely take again the class was very interactive and the professor was understanding of one's needs as students.

COM 3404 wasn't hard, just make sure you read from the textbook and you should be fine to answer all quizzes and some assignments. Professor Shapiro really wants you to succeed in his class. He's very engaging and funny.. trust me, you will not regret having a class with him. Best professor I've had so far!!!

Highly recommended professor! You don't have to buy the book, and attendance is not mandatory, but he appreciates it if you come and participate in class. Just do a decent job on your assignments, and you'll be fine.

Take him. I'm not really interested in communications but he made it super easy to understand. He's hilarious and class is really engaging. The class itself isn't hard at all and I don't think you can get a professor better than this. You won't regret it

This professor is amazing and a very caring man he wants to make sure that you succeed and wants to make sure that you grow as a speaker and really shows it throughout his class. Professor Shapiro is very straightforward, teaches with passion, inspires proper communication, and leave a positive mark in your life. His persuasion class is very well structured, the homework are length appropriate with the short semester and the test are knowledge and personal option base. Conversation heavy, don't go in thinking there's a correct opinion for things. He makes the best of whatever the class is willing to give him. Short and simple isn't really a thing, it helps to expand on what you say and how you say it. Great guy, and always has a positive attitude.

This professor is amazing. Great and humorous lectures but expect to read the chapters he will be discussing. Easy class but attendance is mandatory. I 100% would take it again!

Really great professor. You will go into his public speaking class really nervous and by the last speech, you feel much more confident and relaxed. Reason I gave him 3 in difficulty is bc if you are someone like me who is really anxious of public speaking the class will be difficult at first. Other than, very fun class, times goes by really fast.

Today was my last class with this professor, and I'm honestly bummed that it's over. He knows how to make every student feel comfortable in the classroom, especially when it comes to the speeches. He's extremely understanding. I suggest taking his class, because I would definitely take it again.

The professor was very nice. The class itself was not hard and he made sure all lectures were as interesting as possible. He spent most classes creating discussions for everyone to give an opinion on. Some writing assignments but all personal experience-based, everything was online and he was very flexible with due dates. Would 100% take again.

Hands down, the most captivating lectures I've ever had in my college years. He involves the whole class in conversations relevant to the topic and clearly loves what he does.

Shapiro is passionate about what he does, and opens up your mind to communication and getting a degree in that field.(many switched to communication because of him). Many people think that degree gets you nowhere. He speaks about his personal business sometimes and if you ask, he can help get you connected with people in the future.

Amazing professor with very entertaining lectures. His assignments are simple but involve knowing some of the material in the book. You can expect around 1 assignment a week, usually consisting of either a reflection or a quiz, with no in-class assignments.

Great professor. Gives little work compared to other SPC 2608 professors. Expect to give all your speeches in front of the classroom (it's not as nerve-racking as it sounds, trust me). He made the classroom environment very comfortable and friendly. I noticed a big difference in my public speaking abilities. I am 100% going to miss his class.

Aaron Shapiro is by far the best professor I have taken and will take. He created confident public speakers out of a bunch of shy college students, and I watched it happen from day 1. It was through his lectures and his guidance that I became a very good speech author and public speaker. I would hands down recommend this class to anyone. 1000/10 :)

Great Professor

Professor Shapiro is the best professor at FIU! He is caring and gives good lectures. They're few assignments and four speeches that you have to present in front of the class and have to record yourself. He doesn't make you come all formal to the presentation and he gives you time to prepare. There is also a midterm and the final but its online.

He is an amazing professor. He is super outgoing and always has a few jokes to say. He likes to talk about really interesting topics brought up by students in class which will waste some of the class time. Do your work and you will get 100% in the class. There is no reason to not have an A in the class.

As someone who has always been scared of presenting, this class was enjoyable. I was able to build a connection with the professor and those around me. One of the things I especially loved is how much freedom you are given in choosing the topics of your speech. All of my speeches were on things I was interested in, which made them easier.

Chill professor. The hard part of this class is memorizing all your speeches. He makes everyone feel comfortable before giving your speech. Very hard to reach out of class though. Take him, he's hilarious and sarcastic. He's very approachable and understanding.

Professor Shapiro is not what you expect from reading the syllabus. He is interactive, understanding, and cares about the students. His class was enjoyable, and I'm sad it's over after just 6 weeks.

Honestly, he's such a fun guy. He make sures you get to know everybody first before starting his lecture. He's hilarious and none of his lessons are tough. He is always a email away. Make sure to get the textbook one way or another because the midterm and final are only on the book. You have to do speeches, but its calm. Nothing to worry about.

I took SPC 2608 with Shapiro during summer B. His lectures are always engaging. You will never be bored in his class. Although he recommends reading the textbook, I believe you can pass without doing so. The midterm and final exam are questions from the textbook, but they're also common sense. Overall, he's inspiring and hilarious. I recommend!

His class was early in the morning, and I was happy getting up knowing i'll be witnessing his amazing lectures. He's an amazing teacher. I took the class because i didn't know what else to take but im so glad I did.

THIS CLASS IS EXTREMELY HARD. He loves to crack jokes in the class and is a very inspirational and chill guy. He comforts you and encourages you when you are giving a speech and offers great feedback on speeches. Did I forget to mention he is a comedian?

Shapiro is the best professor at FIU I took his class for public speaking and it was my favorite class because he made it so fun and interesting and actually cares for you to succeed not only in his class but in college and life. TAKE HIM 100% RECCOMEND. I wish he was my teacher for everything.

Has to be one of the best teachers. Hilarious, caring, respectful, engaging, his classes are never boring. Try not to miss much classes as he helps you a ton to setup your speeches. All exams are online through a lockdown browser, minimal homework, and you only need the textbook for homeworks and for setting up speeches. Dont buy textbook used pdf

Aaron is a great professor. The speeches are very easy, and in the grades for the speeches he puts a comment talking about how you did. He does some lectures, mainly being about talking about the speeches we are doing. There are 3 homework's and 2 tests, all being very easy. The tests are open book. If you can take him, I highly recommend it.

You MUST take him if you care about learning and growing. He's funny, engaging, and truly cares. I learned so much about persuasion in a short Summer term. One paper, easy assignments, and real-world application. He even helped me launch a business. One of the best professors at FIU; worth staying in touch with.

Such an amazing Professor. Took him in my first summer course for Public Speaking. I strongly recommend you take him because he's very social and outgoing with students, and is pretty loose with the grading criteria. My class had so much amazing moments with him, Take him if you can!

Took Public Speaking during summer because it was a requirement. I didn't see it as a necessity but I had to take it anyways. It surprised me though. This class was so fun and I made a lot of connections. Also, it really does help you speak in public. Mr. Shapiro is also super funny and makes you want to show up to class. Would take it again 100%

Very sweet teacher, really funny and entertaining. I'm someone who struggles with social anxiety and he made it an environment where it's less pressuring to present your speech. My only complain is that you have to memorizes the speeches but he isn't a heavy grader. He only cares if you follow the rubric and that you're understanding the material.

Great guy and extremely funny. He advocates for interaction between classmates and is a super lenient grader. He allows for homework extensions and the speeches are easy.

Super sweet guy who wants to adjust for anyone in his class whether they're very quiet or outspoken. Genuinely had such a nice time in his class and his speeches didn't feel pressuring to do whatsoever. Take him if you want an easy time standing in front of the class and a generally funny dude!

He is very funny, and very helpful. He helps a lot with his lectures and lets us know what it expected of us, and what we need to do to fulfill those expectations. He is a great professor, I wish I could take another class of his.

If you don't like speaking in front of people or being put on the spot then you won't like him. However, he makes the coursework interactive and fun. He's hilarious and very easy work.

I love this class

Best professor to improve on your public speaking skills. In a good way, he forces you to recite the speech without flashcards reflecting what it's like outside the classroom. You will become more confident than you were at the start of the class and be able to express your ideas without relying on memorization but a "math formula" as he calls it.

Amazing class structure, with a balance of lecture, practice, and presentations. The professor is funny and focuses on making all students comfortable to present in front of people, and without flashcards. He gives feedback and is notable that he wants us to improve. Definitely recommend!

Just take this guy. super funny, only four speeches the entire semester, no dressing up, not a tough grader and gives you great feedback.
