Best math prof in SMC.

Very funny and engaging teacher. Keeps class light which is helpful if you have math anxiety like I do. He gives a lot of homework but he explains things clearly and answers questions directly which is helpful. He is pretty cute so that can be distracting to some students.

Very good professor, the class was layed back, and he made the class fun. He gave classwork at the end, and cared if you were on time or left early. He knows his stuff.

Great professor and the best thing is that he upoad the lectures online so you can study them later. Gives extra credit to.

Professor Simo is the best! He's always willing to help. He gives extra credit, goes over problems in class if you ask, and opens the homework in the end so you can catch up on missed assignemts.

Drops you if you miss class like 3 days, check the syllabus. Gives extra credit, and tests are like t he homework, so be sure to do them.

Tough class, but Simo made the class a fun experience. He showed up early, and posted his notes online. The homework is long though.

Although this is a math class, Professor Simo does his best to keep the class entertained so we won't feel completely bored. He's also very resourceful when it comes to finding ways to help us out.

This guy is a special character. He is hands down the best at making a math class talk to each other in the classroom. This kind of thing is very underrated for professors in college, because I was able to make at least 4-5 friends who carried me to pass the class lol. HW is usually online which sucks but he has very easy tests, and he cares.

Professor Simo is hand down the great professor. Not only about teaching techniques, but he also has a sense of humor. Once he said "do not give yourself a chance to be bad at something" was one of the greatest advice I ever had from any professor.

Simo gives good explanations on the problems we discuss. His lectures are well prepared and I understood all that he taught. He's super funny and chill.

He keeps the class entertaining and fun. He is also very patient.

Hi tries to keep everybody up to date on what's going on in class and tries to make sure that the material is understanded. I wish there were more practice questions and practice exams.

Disregard the negative comments about Professor Simo. Hes a genuinely caring instructor who is so down to earth it makes his class one that all of us current students look forward to every week- he makes Stats raps, come on! This semester we used statcrunch, which is literally a god send. Do yourself and your GPA a favor and take this class.

He is very outgoing. Although he does tend to get easily distracted with random topics which can be a bit confusing, he is very helpful when you do not understand something. Just study. The tests do have a big weigh on your grade. Personally I did not receive a passing grade because math is harder for me and I need the in person help.

I’ll be straight up. His grading scale is intimidating. 85% tests are quizzes the rest is Hw. I ended up with a 99% in the class. Did hw, didn’t understand went to his office hours, watched his videos, GO TO OFFICE HOURS. THE HW ARE THE QUIZZES. If you can do Hw guaranteed passing grade. I loved him. The most impactful Professor in my life.

Yes he gets distracted sometimes, but the class can get quite dense so I don't mind the occasional mental break. Pretty straightforward, all test questions are gone over in class and the homework. Answers doubts in class and office hours. Very personable and funny guy and as someone who hates math I would definitely recommend him!

When reading all the reviews on him, I was scared about taking his class but it was amazing. He is an awesome guy who needs more credit. He cares about his students and he always does extra credit. ALWAYS MAKE SURE TO PARTICIPATE! I would say the only hard thing about his class is lots of homework and you have to pay for online homework.

I made a rate my professor just so I could rate Professor Simo. He is one of the best professors I have ever had. He is so easy going and explains everything very well. This was my second time taking stats because I failed it before but I couldn't believe how nice this class was. Also I didn't think there was too much homework at all.

Does not mind going over topics multiple times. Easy going if we tell him we need the homework pushed back he's like no prob. Tries to connect with his students. Gives lots of extra credit during class just for participation. Take his class if you have the chance these bad reviews are not accurate.

This professor is amazing. I am really bad at math, but with him everything was clear. He explains everything perfect, and discusses the homework in class.

Simo is really funny and nice, the tests are 6 questions and literally the classwork, he posts the notes online every day so you never are out of the loop. I wasn't even good at math but he made it so easy to understand. Goes over homework questions in class, and answers every question, the only way you don't succeed is if you aren't doing the hw

I loved professor Simo it was a really fun class. It's going to be challenging because it's math but Simo is for the students. In the beginning of the semester there was about 35 students in the class and by the midterm there was less than 15. He drops your lowest test score and allows test corrections because he wants his students to pass.

Great guy and gives the lectures very clearly. Go to office hours for homework and to study prior to tests, it'll be helpful. Watch all the videos for each test and you will do great on the test. Overall, take advantage of the resources provided and dedicate time to the class.

Professor Simo is actually pretty funny. He incorporated his jokes, along with other memes into lectures making the material easier to digest. Take advantage of office hours and his test videos on youtube and TikTok, if able.

Simo is a pretty cool person, his classes are fun but he does seem to get off topic at times, so if you are looking for a class that is straight forward math, then this class is not for you. recommend doing the homework and watching his youtube videos they tend to help with his tests. there is 4 test and 1 final.

Simo is awesome and fully brings hope and light to the class. I assumed this class would take a lot of me, but if you put in the necessary work to pass you genuinely can easily. Simo is an amazing professor and really fun.

One of the most understanding professors you could have. Has office hours basically everyday and will stay until 10 PM if you really need. H

You need to be able to use computer basics. He can ramble on, but is an amazing professor, and a great guy. I'd highly recommend if you need to take Math 54C class, I took it fall semester of 23'.

He is a great professor and I would strongly suggest taking his class but do not slack off on his class. This is a class that you have to study and put hours into every week. I would take this class again.

The teacher is nice and funny. He goes on tangents in class, but overall, I had a great experience. It's math, so it's only so enjoyable, but it was a great class. I'm really glad I had him as my teacher. 5 out of 5. Only 4 tests and the final and some easy homework

Professor Simo was an incredible professor! I took him my second semester in college for Math54&54C. His lectures are very useful. He goes along with his notes and always provides physical and online copies just in case you're absent. He is very patient and is extremely passionate about what he teaches. His office hours are incredible and helpful!

Overall, Professor Simo is a great teacher. However, he does tend to go off track, which means the notes will not be finished until next lecture. This wasn't a big problem for me, but just be careful. The tests weren't too bad but studying is NECESSARY.

I failed every math class I took in High School, so naturally I was quite nervous to take a math class in cc because I tried very hard to get a good gpa. Professor Simo is the Goat, the man worked at NASA but quit so he could teach, aslong as you pay attention in class youll be fine. The quizzes and final are gnarly so try your hardest-JT

Professor Simo has been one of my favorite professors at SMC. He brings a warm and welcoming vibe to every class, makes sure everyone is on the right track, and is genuinely so funny. The work is a little hard to process at first but if you go to office hours he makes everything understandable. Go to office hours and you will do amazing.

I took Prof. Simo for stats last spring. He would go off track sometimes but it made the class more fun and I always had a good laugh. He's very laid back which is great because you can ask questions throughout the lecture and he actually converses and interacts with his students. If you want to ace the class just watch the test videos 5+ times.

Amazing teacher. Last semester I failed stats and dropped it. He makes his lectures super engaging and fun. I took Math 54 with 54C which makes this class last about 3 hours. He made the class feel like it was 1-2 hours because the lectures aren't tedious and repetitive. He stays in office hours with you until you fully know the material.

W stats professor. I'd say a good 1/2 of this class is him being sidetracked but honestly, he is so funny and it creates for a good classroom environment. Stay for office hours and you'll definitely gain his respect. He's a good teacher but you really have need to pay attention and stay on top of homework. For tests WATCH THE TEST VIDEOS.

Simo is a really cool teacher and is super funny. I love his teaching style, I always hated math but he made it fun. Definitely go to his office hours because you will get way more understanding and help with homework. He does get a little side track but it's okay, it usually buys us time to study more. Professor Simo is excellent. Yes, I got an awful grade in his class, but it was because I didn't put in enough work. He's a great teacher, cares about his students, and goes above and beyond for them. I've never had a math teacher I liked until I met Simo. He made me want to understand the work. He was funny and understood his students.

This was my second time retaking the course, the curriculum overall is quite demanding on its own (a plus is he gives out easy extra credit points). He makes a great environment for his students and tries to connect with them. He is flexible you just have to communicate with him. Stay for office hours, watch the test videos AND ASK QUESTIONS!

Genuinely one of my favorites! Super entertaining guy that truly cares about his students. Quite a lot of homework but its flexible. Tests are rough but if you study and watch test videos you'll pass. He can get off track but its not anything serious like others say. Offers a lot of easy extra credit.

I've taken this class for my second time now. Stats is a hard math to understand. Like super hard. But I did take math 54 & 54 C in one semester so it is more fast paced. Prof simo is a good person, he wants you to succeed. He helps you feel motivated, and understood, but you still need to put in the work because you can fall behind easily.
