He is not that bad at all. He gives a few quizzes on Othello. Its not like we have to study for a million tests. He lets the entire class participate. He's funny. He teaches you how to write a good term paper. you only read 1 book

He is the most brilliant professor there is... Quizzes on the reading. Hilarious.

Yeah, he's strict and a stickler for details, but he's actually one of my favorite professors. I learned a lot in his class, probably because I felt that he cared about whether we actually learned or not. Just do the reading, pay attention, and it's cool.

Professor Striter is horrible. His grading is harsh. His language is explict. And his stares are scary. *Hows that for a thesis statement!!!* Or is that going to get me a C- as well?!

one of the most useful classes... ...one of the worst classes. He knows his stuff but he is not easy to deal with.

He can be really nasty sometimes but if you just do the essays very clearly and to the point you'll be of DAMMIT!! "clarity, clarity, clarity" is all he wants he makes alotta sense but hes a tough grader, Good luck!

He's a tough grader, but you learn alot in his class. also the class is interesting.

He is extremely helpful. His class is fun. But he is the worst grader. You'll be happy if you leave with a C. take your pick, a good average or enjoyment!

Thesis: great professor, hardest grader ever. You are lucky to finish with a C. His slippers and socks deffinately a trend gone wrong. But it is a very interestng and informative class.

He was difficult but I learned. I got a B+ and I am proud that I earned it. He's a great professor and won't waste your time. I am happy that I took his course, 17th Century Poetry & Prose. He will improve your writing like no other professor.

Yes, he's extremely tough. However, he is a great professor - extremely intelligent and thorough. You may leave his class with a C (although a B is not unrealistic if you work hard), but the knowledge you have gained will be priceless.

Emotional scarring may fade away, but that big fat B+ on your transcript won't. I learned how to hate a language I already know. (and yeah, the HOT for appearance was just a sad joke) But I really think his socks and sandles are cute, adorably cute.

He's is the best writting prof. i've had for my 4 yr college career. i'm going into copy writing as an advertising designer and i'm so greatful he was my prof. he may be tough and a little on the weird side (socks & sandals, no tv allowed, and the unusual likeness to socrates) but he knows his sh*t so listen and stick it out it's worth it!

hard grader no doubt and his test sometimes are not as straight forward as he thinks they are, but has a good sense of humor and makes class go fast. he is very intelligent and has good knowledge in what teaches

He's a hard grader there's not doubt about that. But i think he teaches a pretty cool style of writing. Theres nothing wrong with plain english. He isn't boring and makes the class go by quickly. You probably won't get an a unless you really bust ur ass but you'll learn a lot.

If you want to learn I suggest you take his class. Do not listen to the bad comments about him for as you can see these are people that can not even write a proper sentence.

If you are smart and want to be smarter, then take his classes. He teaches English 1 as well literature courses, for all of which he is highly recommended. It's true that he is a tough grader. But the quality of lectures more than compensates for the lower grades. He is the best professor I've ever had, and I'm finishing my MA.

greatest professor, tells u exactly what he wants and how he wants it, it wouldn't be easier if her WROTE the paper! he's not a bad grader, if u follow his essay structure rule (which is so simple it's elementry) then you can get a B, if u write interesting things, then be prepared for an A. I recieved an A-, and it wasn't hard .

Aaron Streiter is the best professor at Brooklyn College and possibly the smartest person I've ever met. He is clear, concise, and funny. He makes it known what he wants out of the students, and he makes it very easy to achieve. Smart man. Great class.

Not easy at all, but if you have a good brain between your ears and can follow directions you can do well. He has a shrewd sense of humor which you will either love or hate. Fair, but not an easy grader.

Professor Streiter is probably my favorite professor at Brooklyn College. He is extremely smart, witty, funny as hell, and creative. He helped me be a much better student. Just listen to him, read, and follow his instructions exactly. He makes everything pretty simple for you. He is a fare but tough grander. Great guy!

Really really smart man. Briliant. Yes he is hsrd, but he clearly states what he wants. Just Subjec-Verb =) Class is not boring, because he jokes a lot. And again he is very smart man.

If you want an easy class this is NOT for you. It is a lot of work just to get a B. He is a good professor that can make any student a better writer but can be very stressful. He is very nice and has a great sense of humor.

He's not that bad of a professor. He does assign a lot of reading and you have quizzes to ensure that youve done your part but this is college. He' kinda funny in a weird arrogant kind of way but I managed to get an A in his class. Read the books and I'm sure youll do fine

It's very easy to teach like Streiter, you just have to be Streiter. Gives easy quizzes, doesn't take attendance, but a little tough to please when it comes to papers. You may not get an A, nor will you expect one, but you'll never want to miss a class either.

Streiter is probably my favorite professor I've taken so far at BC. Maybe you have to be an english major to really appreciate how he teaches. If you're not, then of coarse you will think he is difficult. but he's not! he is just very intelligent, he knows his stuff! he's really cool & funny too

Pretty interesting teacher. Very intelligent and knowledgable. Also hes very nice to talk to over the phone when your sick and did not get to take one of the tests so he gives you over the fone tests :) I love the way he gets into the deeper, inner meanings of shakespeares works.

4 interesting books, 11 quizzes, 1 written mid-term, and final. He drops the lowest quiz grade IF you take all 11 of them (no make-ups). He's very clear with what he wants - so much so he may discourage what you want. Fair grader, interesting choice of books and great class lectures. He's a bit of a hard ass but it's easy to appreciate.

Like the commentator below said. Except that he is very hard to please with the essays. You don't have to be the best writer, just take notes during lecture and page numbers, so it is easier FINAL time. Also always bring your text or he will call you out. Any always read the book, because the quizzes are so easy...

Attention all English Majors! If you have not had a class with Streiter, now is the time. He is really funny, breaks down the readings and is very approachable. Yes he may assign readings every single night and give quizzes but this class is an easy A if you show up. 11 quizzes, take home midterm and open book final... what's not to love?

I had Prof. Streiter for freshman English 26 years ago. He was very straightforward about what he wanted and if you followed his directions you had absolutely no problems in his class. I'm glad to see he is still around.

Great professor with a dry sense of humor. If you take this guy, walk in knowing that he makes comments that would hurt your feelings if you didn't know that he was only kidding. Not a lot of work, only made us buy four Shakespeare plays, and was very helpful whenever you spoke to him, but since he's old, he doesn't really answer emails. Great guy!

Apparently everyone who ISNT an english major or have only taken him for 1010 hate him hahaha. Thats pretty much straightforward then. If you're taking him for anything but Core English, GO for him! Hes easy and very funny. Open book written final and midterm. 11 quizzes, 1 dropped if all are taken.

I took his class 30 years ago. Loved it. Very intense man. Difficult, but you learn a lot and it is worth it. He was the best professor I ever had. The real deal.

Standard West. Lit. He's not a bad guy, actually pretty funny, always making jokes. Must have a sense of humor. Quizzes are easy if you read the book or even just SparkNotes. He does not like electronic devices, so just simply don't use them in class. Requires you use specific texts, just get ISBN from college bookstore & order online for cheap.

Professor Streiter is very knowledgeable. He's clear about what he wants to see in your paper. Lectures are not boring because he's a funny old man. Six papers in one semester and one final. You really have to pay attention in class and edit your paper multiple times. Visit him during office hours. He has taught me be a better thinker and writer!

I think he's amazing. His expectations are very clear, and he's knowledgeable about a lot of things. English Majors should take his class because he will challenge you to think, and be an overall better reader. He's not for the abstract, if your ideas exists outside of the texts at hand, then my dear you are simply wrong. Facts are important.

Avoid taking him! He is the harshest grader and will ruin your gpa. He assigns six essays and its very clear what he wants but he does not give out good grades. If you don't want to get Cs or Ds, go to him during office hours and he'll correct your whole essay for you but he'll still only give you a B.

You have to enter the class accepting that you know nothing and be willing to learn his method or you'll be waisting your time. Don't be sensitive and you will have a lot of laughs in the class. He may have a strict grading guideline but he's very clear on what he wants. You either like him or you don't, no middle. Best teacher I had this semester.

Professor Streiter can seem tough at first but if you honestly do the right things you will get an easy A. Read the text, it isn't ever hard and he will go through everything with you. Prepare for quizzes, possibly the easiest quizzes you can ever take. Don't use your phone/electronics in class - he makes it clear. Midterm/Final are open book.

He is a tough grader and very straight forward with what he wants. Listen to what he says in class and take notes for the essays. The more he sees from class the higher the mark you get. Quizzes are straight-forward as long as you read. He is VERY sarcastic, it's nothing personal. He wants you to pass so if you're struggling be sure to see him.

I had Prof. Streiter for an Introduction to English (Core Curriculum) class in September 1985. He was very clear on what he wanted from his assignments. If you followed his guidelines, you got a good mark. Many students had a problem with him but I LOVED his class. Thesis statement then support your argument. Simple!!!

Amazing professor! I was scared because of some of the reviews, but he's so sweet and nice. The class was super easy. We read 4 Shakespeare plays and wrote 3 essays. No homework, besides the readings and he explains everything multiple times so it sticks in your head. He gives lots of time for the essays. I would 100% recommend it.

Being an online class. He requires the camera on at all times; and would call you out for not having it on. He doesnt do lectures but analysis the text and how the students interpret it.
