pretty easy grading, hard tests, very thorough, needs work on helping students
narrow minded...only wants to hear what he has to say...takes long to explain problems..
HE explains everything too fast. His quizzes are easy because he uses the same questions from the review sheet, and sometimes on tests also. Way too much homework in class
He does give study guides that are helpful. His quizzes are on one chapter, the homework on another, and the lecture on yet another...it was confusing after awhile. He says he'll help you during office hours but he could really be a jerk sometimes.

Hated this prof. Too much hw, seemed annoyed when students asked questions, not very helpful at all. Tests were pretty difficult also.
His lectures were very thurough. Quiz and test questions usually came right off the study guides. He assigned a lot of homework, but you didnt have to do most of it to get a good grade. His grading scale is really easy 100-85 is an a etc
He takes way too long to explain things. He does not explain everything that he tests on.

this professor is the worse one you can have. he doesnt know how to teach math. its like a chinese teacher teaching you spanish. it just doesnt work. he say boint instead of point. take him at ur own risk
don't be fooled--just because he has an easy grading scale (85-100=A), he is the worse man professor one can have.

He is a very helpful teacher who does give homework, quizes, worksheets and tests, but if you attend class and do the homework, you're guaranteed a good grade. He is not hard at all; his grading is very balanced between homework, tests, etc...
This guy is awesome as he makes class enjoyable. If you show up to class everyday, then you shouldn't have a problem in getting an A, as his tests are like the study guide that he gives out beforehand with all the correct answers.
his class is easy if you go. 85-100 is an A 70-85 is a B 60-70 is a C and he curves his tests ONly problem is he has a an accent so sit in the front also grades homework which really stinks
Class is easy in the begining but turns out to be really hard in the end. The guy can be annoying sometimes but is an easy grader. 75 is a B in his class so thats good. He gives out a lot of hw and quizzes, use his office hours it helps.
Take this professor at your own risk. He is unclear and condescending. Not only does he assign tons of homework, he becomes angry if you ask questions or do not understand the material. RUDE RUDE MAN!!! The only thing that saved me were his worksheets.
Class is easy at first then gets hard. Way too many assignments. Is possible to do ok in there though, I ended up with a C, and I only did 2 homeworks, missed 2 quizzes, failed a test. Try taking a different prof if you can, I don't recommend Shuibs.
HW is graded and he has no contol over the TA! Easy at first, then gets hard, although the work is easy, his teaching ability is horrible. ****: he said he didn't like our class cause we were stupid! this guy needs to slow down and look in the mirror
Good teacher, his gradeing scale is good but does not curve, the class isnt't that hard but he makes it really hard.Average students dont take his class...
The course is very simple especially the first half. He makes the couse even easier by changing the grading scale so that and 85 is an A, he gives you previous test and quizes. If you need a lot of explanation dont take him.
Be ready to be nonstop note taking from beginning to the end of class. Do the homework, and all assignments, you should pass the class. 85% and above is an A.
This guy basically approaches you thinking you know nothing. GREAT! This class starts off really easy and gets hard in the last 3-4 weeks. Do your homework you'll get a B.
Not recommended.
You gotta roll up a lot of shuibi's in order to get through class with your sanity.
Not only does he take an hour on a five minute concept, but the worst part about this professor is that he takes off points for everything! I constantly found myself getting so many points taken off unfairly.
SHITTIEST TEACHER EVER..NOT RECOMMENDED
Screw everyone who say's this man is hard. He is very easy, his quizzes and tests are a joke - they all follow the format that he explains in class. Trust me, do not listen to these losers. Shuibi's the man.
this guy couldnt speak english, but the material is easy. if you don't understand it, you shouldnt be in coledge (not a typo).
wow - never worked so hard for a class before - hw is about 40 problems with lots of even numbers - tests are hard as are quizzes - but his curve is unreal - 55% was a C - and we had a lot of take home quizzes and part of our midterm - overall...tough
he needs to find another job because nobody wants to take his class. He constantly complains to the class about how everything is easy, which it is but he makes it confusing because he can't teach. Horrible relations with the students
do not take him in the summer it was one of the hardest classes i had to take.. but i got some help from friends and was able to pass with a b- eventhough i failed the midterm and didnt do hw
little hard to understand, but a good prof that wants you to learn
He was a great prof. I learned a lot from him. he is very clear in his way of teaching, yes he has an accent, but everything he says is understandable. If anyone did not like or pass his class is because they are lazy and did not want to learn.
"you should know you know, this is easy, we cant spend time on this this is calculus, you know" ,takes off points unfairly. Be ready to take math notes during the whole class without understanding a damn thing that you wrote down.Learn yourself
Good Course!
This professor is very helpful. He usually give give additional work for extra credit. I enjoyed taking his class. I recommond him if you would like to learn what is going on in this course.
he tries to help everyone get the better grade. he drops the lowest homework and quiz scores. quizes are pretty easy. also, he didnt have to give extra credit but he did and he added it on to the midterm grade which bumped my B to an A.
got an A- in the class. should have had an A. class was behind schedule near the end of the quarter, so we went thru final chapter way too fast. the only time i did not get an A was on the final. we never reviewed for it. he assigned too much work at the end. that really annoyed me.
This man should not be teaching. He has a accent which makes him difficult to understand. He is not helpful in his office hours, he becomes upset when you do not understand a concept right way. Also he freaks about if another student attempts to help explain a concept to someone who does not underst
He is the best one teaching this course. He wants students to understand and he is very helpful. He usually gives extra problem to practice before exams.
great professor, his lectures help you understand all the core concepts of the subject before you leave the class. his study guide is very helpful. I definitely recommned this professor.
Very helpful - I got a D- on my first test, he gave me extra credit and sure it was a lot of work but it pulled by test score to a high C and I ended up with an A as a final grade. He doesn't like side talk and will be mean to you if you disrupt his lecture. He has a funny accent.

Total unfair grader! You could get all the questions on the quiz right and he will still take 15 points off for stupid things. Try not to ask him questions b/c he will belittle you in front of everyone. Easy class, but the prof. sucks
Make sure to do all your homework on time. He also post practice test on blackboard which are extremely helpful make sure you understand them and you will do fine.
"I mean liiiike, this is not hard. What you no get? De answer is three boint five" Ha ha. This class is super hard, and he doesn't really make it any easier. I barely passed. Try to take a really good professor for this one, i.e. not Shuibs.
shuibi is the man. his test is the same as the practice test. you have to be stupid not to get a good grade.

Not the greatest teacher by any means. Wound up very behind by the end of the quarter, and shoved 3 sections into the last class before the final, and made 20% of the final on those last 3 sections. He's unfair and not understanding when it comes to questions regarding homework problems and problems on tests. The only thing that saved me was the HW
crazy! he will help you whenever you need it, but his tests are impossible. over half of the class failed
Harder Class, and he may be unclear at times; but makes up for it through outside access and extra-credit. Good over all
Listen, this guy has a weird accent, but it does'nt matter. He is very clear, won't move on until you understand. Easy grader, wants you to ask questions. If you do bad on tests, go to his office and he gives you tons of extra credit. I failed the midterm cuz i suk at math and still passed with a C+, so take him.
DONT TAKE HIM, this guy is horrible, he doesn't explain the material well and is rude. He gave me a D+ and I had to retake the class and got an A from a real professor. He didn't cover all the material and tested us on what he never taught.
excellent teacher. helps a lot during office hours.
Do not take him!! He is not hard to understand, but just annoying. The class is not hard, but he tries to trick you on the tests. Makes a class that should be an easy A not an easy A.
Take his class. He really wants you to learn! He will help you and answer all your questions. He is a very nice teacher.
An excellent teacher. He cares about students and want them to do well in his class.
Very good teacher. At first, he was a little hard to understand but you get used to the accent. He really wants his students to learn and get a good grade. The only thing is he takes off for little things on tests. Overall,I learned a lot.
do NOT take this man's class. he does have an accent but it's not very hard to understand. the material is things you should have learned in 7th grade. very easy but if you forgot some things like i did and ask him for help, he spoke down to you as if you're mentally challenged for not knowing it.
i hated this class. Do not take him. He moves extremely fast and is not easy to reach outside of class hours.
He's a very nice person and relaxed in the classroom. I have always been a terrible math student, but even though his class was very fast-paced, I did well throughout. Sometimes the material can feel rushed, but online resources are a BIG help. Come to class every day with a clear head, and regardless of your math background, you'll do well!
He is the man, I mean he is not that hard to understand. If people have a hard time with his class then they are most likely undedicated and lazy students. Seriously, this guy couldn't make Calc any easier and has many opportunities for extra credit. He also provides review guides, review tests, and numerous activities to help the student pass.
Wow this guy is really something. Near to IMPOSSIBLE to understand his accent. Pretty much expect to teach yourself because he wont do it. Seriously, he's horrible and makes coming to class a dread. Avoid him.
This guy's accent really isn't difficult to understand at all. He offers TONS of extra credit, drops a quiz, and has very helpful powerpoints for every topic. I just started BMS126 w/ a different prof who is disorganized and only uses the chalkboard. I miss Shuibi! BMS125 is not the easiest course ever, but Shuibi makes it as easy as possible.
he helps a great deal to keep up with class and material he taught, though class is fast paced at times, but that is the requirement of the course, and he makes sure that you hav understood what he has taught in class.Quizes n tests are easy and based on what he has taught, revision classes before exam makes it much more easy, in exams he gives what
most difficult and demanding teacher at Depaul. He forgets that there are other classes students are responsible for while in school and regularly assigns 7-10 outside hours of work for his class each week with little to no clarification or support. While Math 10 may be a mandatory class, he is not. Avoid this teacher at all costs!!!!
Terrible!!!
ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE. so hard to understand and goes into detail about the material that was covered in high school but then flies through the material that is just being learned. avoid avoid avoid
a great teacher. I had learned alot from him.
Professor Shuibi is not as bad as people are making him seem on here. Yeah, his accent is a bit hard to get used to and understand at first, but you get used to it quickly. He really wants to make sure you understand the material that's being covered. You do have to make sure you keep track of what is due when because he uses MyMathLab assignments
He is a great teacher. I learned alot from him.
Anyone who says he is a bad teacher is one of the students who is too lazy to put in effort. He is easily one of the best math professors I've had. He's always willing to help, gives extra credit, and curves the total grades. If you do the work he assigns, you will do well.
Hard to understand at times, moves kinda fast. Doing the homework will keep you in the loop.
Hard to understand and keeps you in class over the amount of time you're suppose to. There's no point of going to his classes because you learn most of it yourself from the homework. Although his quizzes and midterms have been pretty easy.
Won't use book at all, boring as ever! Not a clear speaker.
He's everything you could want in a math course.
Hard to understand because of his thick accent. When you go for help during his office hours he doesnt take time for you to understand-he rushes you out. He will teach 4 sections of one chpt in one class. IF YOU TAKE HIM MAKE SURE YOU CAN KEEP UP. Midterm are on 2 chapts, Final on everything learned in quarter.Very serious and conservative-no fun.
He is an excellent teacher. He is very much helpful and he cares alot about his students.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. Teacher isn't very good, he is hard to understand and WILL NEVER USE THE BOOK. All you will use the book for is the for the online workshop. He is a very nice person but not the best teacher.
YOU WILL NOT PASS THIS CLASS. The guy doesn't teach the material you need. DROP THE CLASS or DO NOT TAKE IT. You'll know exactly what I'm talking about if you decide to not drop it... that's what I did.
He is not a bad professor but he does make the course more difficult than what it should be.
He is a great teacher. I have learned a lot from him.
I gave him a chance. But I no longer see a point in even attending class. I dont understand him, the accent is rediculous. I tried, I did. Failed the classes because of his inability to teach. it's sad because I had higher expectations for DePaul. Because of this class, I am transfering. I refuse to pay out of my pocket, for a class like this.
He is a very nice teacher. He is very helpful. It seems that any students who did not do well in his class try to blame him for their failure. They should study hard for his class or transfer to a weak school which match their levels.
it makes me sad that someone said they transferred out of depaul because of this teacher.dont let that comment discourage you. yes, he has an accent. its hard to get used to, but by the 2nd class i understood every word.you just have to listen.he doesnt go too fast, doesnt give a lot of homework, and honestly wants everyone to do well.good teacher.
this guy definitely sucked. absolutely useless when it comes to communicating outside of class. which sucked because he never posted grades online. hes not a good teacher and his quizes have questions that were taught. good things hes an easy grader and an 87-100 is A-/A
I was extremely disappointed in this class. The material could have been super easy if the professor wouldn't have made it so difficult. He hates answering questions and gets sarcastic if you don't understand something. Definitely don't recommend him.
One of the worst professors at DePaul. Lectures verbatim from the book, cuts off students who ask questions, and assigns more homework than he can grade. Avoid.
Horrible teacher! Do not take him, he has an understandable accent and does not want to help you in or outside of class. He teaches the class like he talking to himself. What a waste of time.
This class was about SAS programming (MAT 448/MAT 341), and this guy hardly knows SAS, and has a hard time using a computer. Can't explain theory, makes tons of mistakes, and has trouble articulating basic concepts. I basically taught myself from the book. His handouts and teaching are awful. Took big points off hw/tests for tiny mistakes. Avoid!
This class was the most boring class ever. Professor did not know the answer to any of the questions asked. I did not learn anything from him. He kept repeating "You now... I mean... like... guys" Definitely do not recommend.
He speaks with what can only be described as a half Italian-half Middle Eastern accent. The accent coupled with the fast pace of his class may prove fatal. That being said, it is only math and you can teach yourself half of this...
Dr. Shuibi is extremely helpful and is very willing to go over anything in office hours. Very knowledgable on the course material and explains it very nicely in class. If you pay attention, take notes, and do the assignments you will get a lot out of his class. I would definitely take him again.
This professor is not that bad. He does have an accent but after a couple weeks you'll have no problem understanding him. I didn't really study for his exams. Had i studied, i would've gotten an A.
Goes through material way too fast. Unclear expectations. Gets mad when you dont understand and he needs to repeat himself. Tough tests.
This man does not know how to teach & has no patience. When you get a test back, it will be covered in check marks & loop things with no explanations or correct answers and a (what seems like random) amount of points taken away for each problem. I tuned his lectures out & read the book & I got a better grade than when I was listening to him. Avoid.
Our professor got switched on the last day before class and we got stuck with this guy. Teaches class at a graduate level and has no patience for questions. Talks down the class and was not helpful. Had to curve the class due to the high % struggling
He is a great professor. If you do his worksheets and homework assignments you will get an excellent grade.
He is an excellent professor
Stay Really Far Away From Guy! He goes way too fast and doesn't know how to teach. If you want to learn this class yourself go ahead but if your looking for a good grade, not happening.
He is a great professor.
This man does not know how to teach, goes too fast and students can't keep up. He bases most of your grades off exams but never gives clear feedback. Most students end up dropping his class mid-semester. I learned nothing from him. If you're not good at math, don't take his class, it will be extremely difficult to pass given his lack of teaching.
Not the worst professor, but not the best. He is sometimes hard to understand, but he is always willing to clarify. Many factors go into your grade, and he allows you to make up points you missed on the midterm, and curves the final heavily. Take good notes and do homework and youll pass.
You will learn a lot of you keep up with his worksheet and quizzes.
Whatever you do, avoid taking this professor at all costs. This man has no clue how to teach.
we had a whole week off class and he emailed us to teach ourselves the material. would not recommend normal teachers would not do this.
People who rate this professor poorly want to do no work. This class is both statistics and SAS so be prepared to put a ton of time into it. I recommend you take another easy course with it or else you will drive yourself crazy. The professor is very accessible and patient with the students.
This class is not difficult if you keep up with his worksheets and the homework assignment. I recommend you take this professor if you really want to learn the material.
Boring class but I'd take him again. His class lectures are all notes and he puts them all on D2L, so if you skip class just make sure to look at the notes and you'll be fine. There's a decent amount of hw and quizzes, but they're not hard, and he drops the lowest quiz. The structure of the midterm and final is no different than the hw and quizzes.
If you don't know anyone who's taken his class before, good luck passing because he does not explain things clearly at all. The whole class is basically you teaching yourself how to code statistics and if you ask him for help he says "you should know this" Also the final presentation is him grilling you the whole time on stuff you don't know!!!
I enjoyed taking this class with Professor Shuibi. He was very helpful to us in this online class.
I have enjoyed taking Business Statistics class with Professor . He provided us with a lot of video lectures. He explained everything well in those videos. Weekly office hours were helpful to me because went over the solutions of the all the worksheets.
I enjoyed taking Applied Statistics with him in Winter 2021-2022. You will learn a lot in his classes about SAS and Statistics.
Good professor but has a thick accent and the materials is difficult.
Professor Shuibi is a great instructor. His lectures are very easy to get through and he explains examples well He is very understanding and accommodating as well. If you study his worksheet and their solutions you will do great in his class.
Dr. Shuibi is a great professor. I took his class last quarter. I enjoyed it a lot and I have learned a lot from his lectures. Just be sure to study his worksheets and lecture notes then you will get an excellent grade in the class.
Professor Shuibi is great. He is great at teaching the material and providing examples of problems. His exams are not hard at all, as they are very similar to the worksheets and quizzes. He also has office hours to help you if you are confused on anything.
Classes weren't super helpful, most of the content that I learned was self-taught rather than in his class. He's not very clear and generally a slow grader. As someone who was working and had other responsibilities on top of school, it got harder but it didn't have to be.
Professor Shuibi's class is manageable if you stay on top of the worksheets and notes. unstuck study can be a helpful study tool alongside the free textbook. Overall, a solid math course.
Shuibi is incredibly passive aggressive. He expects you to learn everything immediately and will berate you if you ask for help. Be prepared to teach yourself the material because he does a horrible job explaining topics. Be prepared for your class to be behind a week because he doesn't know time management. Can't wait to leave him a terrible eval.
Horrible professor. Please do not waste your time taking this course with this professor. He does not respond to emails promptly, rushes his lectures, and teaches the course insanely rapidly, expecting you to understand the material and prioritize his class over everything. Please do not make the same mistake as I did. TAKE OTHER PROFESSORS, PLEASE
If you are not religious before taking this course, pick a religion and start praying you'll pass.
Very lecture heavy and just plain passive aggressive towards everyone. He acts as if his class is the most important you'll ever take. Extremely tough grader and almost seems to enjoy failing students.
