very cool teacher!!
very nice and friendly
I didn't really like his teaching style, it was a bit scattered and unclear. A test review sheet would be really, but he never gave those out.

Professor Zahedani is a cool teacher. He is always willing to go out of his way to help you with things you dont understand in class. He has a sense of humor which makes this rather boring subject worth showing up for class. Overall, great teacher.
Oh boy. I'd say run for the hills. nice guy though but needs to rework his teaching strategy.
Zahedani is not a good teacher. He comes late to class, he has scattered lectures, and he grades unfairly. I had a dispute about my grades and it was so hard to contact him. I showed up to his class and he was not there, I emailed him and no reply.
lectures are definitely not the way to learn. I think you would learn more by reading the book, than showing up for class.
He is a very nice guy, but his teaching style is not good. Overall he draws the same graph a billion times and explains it. He messed up on my grade and it's really hard trying to contact him. He needs to learn how to teach better.
humourous and clear
This class as extemely hard!! There was so much information that i definely do not recommend taking it as a one day night class like me. No matter how hard i studied i still got the same grade on both of my midterms. Lectures were a little hard to understand as well as the book. UNCLEAR!!!
Class was pretty easy, only 2 hwk total. Lectures were not helpful, the best way to understand the material is to read the book. Notes i took during class were useless as they were graphs that were already in the book. Read the chapters he tells you to, attendance is optional. I got a B.
he is a nice guy..class is easy....just need to study from the textbook, then you will get an A easily...
how can anyone think this class is hard? It's so easy. he posts the tests he gave years before and explains everything that will be on the exam thoroughly. Attendance is optional but he's pretty funny and it makes it worth your while.
This guy is retarded. Granted his is absolutely brilliant in economics, but dreadful when it comes to teaching. He's completely dry, I never heard anything funny slip out of his mouth. As, others stated, I must have seen the same diagram 10,000 a day, GDP per capita, pause before you take this class.
OMG, i hate his teacher, i thought i was passing this class because i had two C on my midterm and he also annouced to the class that no one is failling then i got a D+.... gosh i hate this teacher. don't take him cuz ... he is stupid and can't pronounce any word RIGHT. also, if u , no need to go to lecture, study on ur own and the test he posted.
Zahedani is a good teacher. He's repetitive but it's helpful when trying to remember. I found my notes to be more helpful than the book. He grades on a curve which helped me out alot. Class is optional if you're down to study.
nice guy and all, but doesnt know how to teach the information, also i cant understand him when he talks cause he cant speak english that good
People who are posting saying they can't understand him are just silly, or ****s. After about 10 minutes you should have no trouble understanding him unless _you_ are retarded. He uses a GREAT curve so you have no excuse having less than a B- in this class. I got an A and all I did was GO TO CLASS AND LISTEN, and skim chapters lightly.
he may be a great economist but he's a horrible teacher in the classroom. the only way to learn in read the book yourself. he doesnt even answer questions directly. his lectures are pointless. i learned more about econ in high school
amazing professor. very intelligent and well spoken. i highly recommend his class.
he tells you what will be on the test, but it's a fill in so it's hard if you don't remeber the graphs, he does post old exams up, he has a big curve if you do bad on the exam, like his stories their interesting.
Awesome teacher. Curves tests an amazing amount (45 was still a C) and says on the final that if you at least get a CURVED C he will pass you in the class. Really nice guy too and keeps class interesting with his stories. Definelty recommended!
this guy is funny, his graphs make sense although he doesnt do that great of a job explaining the reason for things, go to class, rewrite your notes, study the practice exams, and understand the material before the tests. midterms are fill in, final was easier, if you do what i say, you MIGHT get an a, j/k you will unless you're dumb
he is a horrible teacher. he knows his info but teaches like a textbook and cannot communicate with the students. he is a horrible teacher and i do not recommend him.
A really nice guy who is there to teach. He gives pretty good lectures and is able to keep your interest most of the time. He curves the test enough to where my friend thought she got an F for sure so she didnt take the final and still got a D. He puts up a practice midterm which are pretty much the same as the midterm. Take notes, no book needed.
Great teacher if you are not too interested in economics, but still want to learn! teaches in a very easily undertandable way, and tries to make the class into something a bit more fun than just drawing graphs and learing terms. Pretty easy tests, if you are in school to learn that is.
Horrible! Midterms were highly difficult, but he curves VERY generously. His lectures are not very helpful. the book is just as bad as he is. too much economist terms, if you're not an economist, and taking it for a GE or a pre req, tough luck! stories he tell do not help! at all! they lead nowhere. there is no point to it. just a story.
Zahedani is a nice, funny man who is a tough grader but loves curves. But I must say, class sucked hard. I still have no idea what the hell macroeconomics are. All I know is I passed:)
I liked Prof. Zahedani, but he was pretty hard to follow. The exams are pretty hard, but they are curved so much, so passing the class isn't really hard.
funny and smart guy! i love the way he curves a lot, even though he grades hard. the first and second exams are based on short essay.do your best to write down what you know. try to do the extra credit, if he provides. must show up before the exam day because he always reviews. read the book! his lecture is very close to the book. nice teacher
HORRIBLE TEACHER. if you want to be completely clueless throughout the semester, this is the teacher for you. his lectures are boring and after awhile it starts to make no sense at all. if you want to know absolutely nothing about marco econ, then this is the teacher for you.
if you follow the lectures you will do just fine especially with his great curve
"I love curves!" informs you enough about this POWERFUL economist. He's in unbelieveable control of his field. He'll curve your grade with the rest of the class's grades, which is always a benefit. HOWEVER, his quiz and 4 midterms were horribly broad, making it a headache to pass.
This was my favorite class. As long as you read the text book you are guaranteed an A in the class. Go to class day before exam. attendance is not mandatory but if you go you will understand the reading in the book much better..TAKE THIS TEACHER
You don't have to go to class....just read each chapter in the text book....go the day before the test.....tests are very hard, but he curves them, i got in the 70's and 80's on all of them, and the highest grade was always in the 80's, one time I got a 56, and that was a B+ with his curve
All you have to do here is memorize the book and you'll ace the short-answer exams. Because of this, he has a FAT curve. 1 ten-page paper and 3 exams. Tends to ramble about his experiences, especially after the first half of the semester. You will have to read the book cover to cover if you want to do well.
He goes the book a lot so make sure you read. The test are wordy but as long as you attend class and read you will be okay. Plus there is a huge curve!
I hope you like making out with your text book, cuz you two are gonna get real close in his class. He goes by the book and sometimes gives abstract questions on his test you couldn't possibly prepare for, but he curves like a mother. Nice guy, strays off topic constantly, atendance isn't so important--despite his flaws, it's very possible to succeed
This teacher is really nice, but his class is pretty difficult and confusing most of the time, despite that, you can probably still pass because he curves a lot! Take his class if you think you might not have econ as one of your strong points.
Professor Zahedani is a very smart man. He has been all over the world and gives true-to-life examples in his lectures. Textbook usage is heavy, but manageable [you're not in college to get by easy]. Highly recommended.
Zahedani is an awesome guy. He's been all over the world and is very insightful. He's also quite hilarious. A highly curved class which is always nice. He has 2 midterms, a quiz, 2 short essays, and a final test. He really knows his stuff, just make sure you don't fall asleep, you can get lost easily and have to make it up through lots of reading.
A good Econ class with a very experienced teacher. Gets off topic sometimes but is funny to listen to. I believe his multiple choice exams are harder than his problems solving ones. Read the book and attend class often and you will do fine. Grades on a curve like no other.
A very smart individual. The class is easy due to the curve/students that dont try. The text book I had was very well written, and came in handy for mgmt 407. So Zahedahi if your reading this dont swith books, stick with krugman.
He CURVES LIKE NO OTHER!!!!Go to his lectures, a lot of what he discusses in class are on the exams. You have to keep up with the reading or you'll be lost. He has a tendency to get off topic, which can be annoying. I got an F on the first exam, B- on the second and did okay on the final. I didn't do the homework either and got a C in the class.
Prof. Zahedani is a good teacher. He would try to make jokes and sometimes they'd be funny, at least he tried. The book is IMPORTANT, read it and attend lectures and you'll be fine. He CURVES like crazy~!!! Make yourself standout to him, let him know your name, get friendly, he seems to like that. I RECOMMEND HIM
the points he try to make was not really clear to me. Maybe it is because I took him in the summer, so I have hard time understanding him. Although he is a nice guy, he is not a good professor, so i would not recommoned you guys to take his class
the points he try to make was not really clear. Maybe it is because I took him in the summer, so I have hard time understanding him. He tended to get off topic and talk about something that is totally differ from what he was talking about Although he is a nice guy, he is not a good professor, so i would not recommoned you guys to take his class
I despise economics with my entire being, but I still managed to get a B+ in this class. I suppose I put forth a slight effort, but it was just too much at 8:00 AM. He's a great professor and very interested in the topic. I recommend him for those interested in economics or even you're simply trying to get a GE course out of the way.
he is very passionate about the subject.he is hard to understand sometimes due to his thick accent.he gave 2 2-3pg papers throughout the semester and gave everyone full credit if they met the length requirement.if you have a friend who took the class before ask for their midterms bc they are the exact same(short answer).the final is multiple choice
Zahedani is a very intelligent man who really knows what he's talking about. go to class and take good notes. the exams are horrible if you don't study. only 2 midterms, 1 quiz, and a final. keep up with the material and you should do fine
oh my god, he is soooo boring. this class sucked. you dont have to go, he doesnt take attendance but it definitely helps. I got a 67/100 on the first and 44/100 on the second midterm, did the homework and was NOT confident on the final AT ALL, yet still got a B+. HUGE curve... easy but BORING!
very knowledgable, humorous at times...tests are open ended and very difficult, but huge curve. passed with a C. He goes off topic and his lecturing could be much more simplified! no group work or group interaction...straight lecture...can get boring at times. you will get your exam results a month after each exam date.
He talks alot. and sometimes what he says is confusing. It was a hard class becasue his midterms and finals are hard. but the projects he gives are pretty easy.
Sometimes you run into teachers who know what they're talking about, but have no idea how to teach their students. This guy is really hard, he curves a lot, but it doesn't matter because you'll just end up getting a C in the class. Take J. Moss instead, her study guides actually help. Seriously
He knows what he talks about. He looks at leading indicators and at times shares his ideas about the global economy. He inspires students to buy and read the wallstreet, even if you glance at it. This is a Class, Not teacher, that you will need for the rest of your life, and this PROF. does an excellent job at giving you the information that you wi
I don't think I learned one single thing this whole year. I had to teach myself through reading the book because all he does in class is ramble on about himself or his daughter. He shows up to class 10-20 minutes late everyday and I have to say this class was a total waste of my time. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!
I could not disagree more with most of these comments. Yes the exams are hard but could be done fairly well if you read the text and go to class! He doesn't take attendance but go anyway! The way he lectures is fun because he's a pretty funny guy! Huge curve and extra credit! Economics is a very usefull course and Zahadani explains it pretty well.
Probably a GREAT teacher if you're an econ major!! If taking it just for GE (like me), he's too hard. He knows EVERYTHING, one hand it's good, other hand bad, cuz no way you can BS on the midterm (which are short-answer q's ONLY). This whole semester, he hasn't showed up on time once!!! TOO HARD!
Really funny guy. Doesnt give any hw. Tests are kinda hard but they are passable. I didnt study for any of his tests and scored a 36%... which thanks to the FAT curve is a C+. Attendance not mandatory and neither are notes. just read the daily assignments and youll pass with an A. Take it if you like to slack off and cram for tests
If you are interseted in what is going on in the world currently, he will bring it. Exams do not really relate to all of his babble so be pepared to study really hard and maybe even get a tutor, b/c he won't teach you crap about what is going to be on the exams. too bad the exam ar eabout his life story, would mke more sense!! he sux.
i didn't learn one thing in this class. there is one midterm, one final, two papers, and one quiz. he sucks at lecturing. do not take this class
He is one of those professors who knows what he is teaching but can't actually teach it to the majority of the class. His notes are very unorganized. He grades easy on papers and curves the exams. So you actually have to do most of the learning yourself through the book. He isn't a good teacher but he does have a good personality.
Useless teacher. Comes in late just about everyday. Rambles on during lectures, which are not cohesive and are not to the point. Don't know exactly what he wants on essay questions for exams. Exams are curved though, but useless because you're very likely to end up with a C anyway. Not recommended for those wanting concise lectures over wordy texts
People are too hard on this guy! I love him! So funny and very interesting. The tests are hard if you dont go to class...go to class and read the book and the class is cake. Once you start to understand reading the paper is so much more enjoyable!
This class is not as easy as you may think it is. Reading the book is a must. All the exams are curved, but they are really hard. Most people will end up getting a C.
This class was so confusing, and the exams are IMPOSSIBLE. I studied so much for the midterms and just ended up getting Ds b/c the exams didnt make any sense. The class is not structure right. He is a very sweet, kind, and intelligent man, but not the best teacher. I ended up with a C in the class, as well as the majority of the class.
This professor is easy. I got an A in this class with no problem. Sure half the class's grade revolves around C and D, thats only because half the class dont come to class. He covers the important points of his exams in his lectures, so if you dont go to his class, it is only logical that you get a bad grade. Read your book and go to class.
very hard to understand. i came to class everyday, and read the book. i passed with B- but i think it was just luck, he curves the grade. nothing really made sense. didnt really learn much. kinda unorganized.
I did not learn anything in this class. I don't know if it was his constant tardiness or his unfocused lecturing. He went off topic constantly. He was an interesting man, though. Attendance isn't mandatory. Read the book and you'll be able to catch up with lecture. 2 papers, a midterm, a quiz & a final. I passed with a C, with the help of a curve.
Hes good
The only professor I ever had twice in a lifetime. Anyway, I'll make this short: He's very similar to Robbins, Kidner, Takeyama, and Neely... meaning his style is bland and dry enough to get you pondering whether you're getting ashy around the edges from these kind lecturers.
ahhhh run away from this class.....i mean it, ull regret it if u take this course. the teacher is hella cool, funny, and used to be a pilot. BUT the class and book is confusing, and when he explains it gets more confusing, i guess if u need to take this class, then do all the readings ahead of time and take hella good notes, and sit up front
I am taking this class right now. Professor Zahedani is a very intelligent & humorous man, but his teaching style is not for everyone. He tends to ramble and changes subject mid-sentence constantly while lecturing. If you read the book, and take excellent notes you will do well in this class. This class requires you to do work outside of class.
The bad: he's often tardy, tends to go off on tangents, the tests are tough. The good: he's really brilliant and loves his subject, the classes cover everything you need to know for exams, and sometimes he's funny. "Maybe Sarah Palin thinks Africa is a country because she took only multiple choice exams at her many universities." :)
I took him for both 101 and 100. Hes teaching style is different and maybe hard to understand for slackers. but he is brilliant. his exams are hard, but he does tell you 100times (or more) exactly whats gonna be in it. Read the book before you go to class and you will have no problem. He will make sure everyone passes! he curves like crazy 40% a C!
Extremely intelligent guy who for some reason can not for the life of him relay the class material into somewhat of a comprehensible form. His notes are scattered and sometimes it's hard to understand what exactly he is talking about. He's pretty funny though, and slightly pervy.
I did not put any effort but still passed this class. Take him if you do not care about getting B or above but only to pass.
He is very good on both teaching and personality indeed. He has passion to his job and the subject "Economy". I did learn at his class, but required reading the book and some research. He wants you to read WSJ but I found it not necessary for HW or exam.
He is very smart, and his insight to current events was actually very interesting to listen to. However you don't learn anything from going to class. The only reason to go would be because he takes attendance random days. He doesnt use multiple choice tests, but curves like no other. Not recommended
HE IS SUPER SWEET AND KIND...but you will find yourself sitting in class saying "huh??" for most of the semester. Rarely ever homework, but the midterms are super confusing and hard. GOOOD LUCK!
He knows his material. Some times he jumps around places and he's quite fast, but if you do your reading, you'll be fine. His tests are not multiple choice, but more technical. It's easy if you just go to class. This is a class where you get how much you put in. If you want a fly-by class, don't take this one.
Very nice & funny prof.very passionate about what he teaches & is helpful if you go to him for it.lectures are boring & i got nothing out of them.exams were hard even after studying textbook!doesnt take attendance& no hw assign which is bad because your grade is basically based on the exams!he curves tho!
Very nice & funny prof.very passionate about what he teaches & is helpful if you go to him for it.lectures are boring & i got nothing out of them.exams were hard even after studying textbook!doesnt take attendance& no hw assign which is bad because your grade is basically based on the exams!he curves tho!
Zahedani was an awesome guy but his teaching style was difficult to deal with. I ended up with a C+ in his class even with studying and office hours. We did two midterms, one quiz, and one final. None of which were easy. However, he has a huge curve, cause I got a 58 once and he gave me a B-. Overall, you can take him, but trust me it will be hard.
Hard class in general, but its worse when your professor is hard to understand. Dr. Z is a good guy but he is hard to understand he goes very off topic. His curve is amazing... I stopped going to class after the first midterm but still took the 2nd midterm and the final. Ended up getting a Credit in the class. HUGE CURVE.
READ THE BOOK AND UNDERSTAND IT. You don't need to go to class but you better know everything in the book because that's where he draws all the tests from. No homework, just three 30% tests each and a 10% quiz. You have to teach yourself the whole semester and don't dig yourself too big of a whole early. An A is not impossible with his huge curves!
First of all, he has an accent. If you can get past that, he is pretty funny and extremely knowledgeable. His tests were all essay when I took the class which definitely went in my favor, and as some others have stated - he curves generously. If you read the book, go to class and study diligently, you will get an A. Guaranteed.
He has a strong accent and his lectures are tedious! Often times, he goes off topic very easily. During one point of the lecture he might talk about Economics, and the next about something totally different. I really didn't like his class. I skipped this class more than I ever skipped in high school combined!
If you care about geting any grade higher than a C+ than you might either avoid this guy or Credit/No Credit this course cause getting anything higher than a C+ is just downright insane (an A is impossible). REALLY HARD CLASS!
Let's put it this way... he's REALLY old, so he's REALLY SLOW and forgettable and rambles on about is grandchildren. Just read the book on your own and don't even bother going to class unless on test dates. WASTE OF TIME. nice funny old man though, just he does not know how to teach
This class was an excellent introduction of economics. In fact, I changed my major to it afterwards. It is not the most interesting class you can take in economics but it beats 100 and 101. His standards are higher than most SFSU lecturers and you are held responsible for knowing the material.
