I was not happy with this professor. He is unclear in lecture.
great teacher
Goooooood Mornnnnnning !
nice guy
Excellent professor! I would take him for everything I could!

Great teacher.
THE TESTS WERE VERY HARD.
awesome...his lectures are fun and interesting...buy the study guide!!!!!!!!!! if you do the multiple choice q's in that, and you get them right, you will Ace the test :)

Very interesting lectures with info you can apply to real life.
He tells you everything you need you know for the tests in class...he also offers ways to make up points if you need to.
He is a really great teacher! He taught me more in that lower level class than I learned all semester in my upper level class taught by another teacher.
This was a great class. The study guide was really helpful.
great teacher, very fun.
Very good teacher. Econ was actually interesting.
You will learn a lot! He does an excellent job lecturing and is funny. He tends to go at a fast pace as the semester progresses, but don't be afraid to ask questions. He will only test you on material that he goes over-no surprises!
My friends and I still do Ferdowsi impressions. "If you have 2 calculator and 3 robot, you must give up 1 robot to get 1 more calculator" Every class he'd walk in, point, and say Good Morning even though it was 1 p.m. I still say it every time
awesome teacher really cares awesome teacher DO NOT TAKE AFIFI IF YOU WANT TO PASS
This guy is as good as a professor gets. You have chances for extra credit, and you have about 9 tests in a semester, upping your chances for an A even if you fail one. He is extremely funny and makes Economics interesting. I would take him again!
funny nice teacher. I liked his class. his grading system is very helpful but his tests can be sort of difficult.
The lectures and the tests don't match up. Basically if you want to do well all you have to do is read the book because he doesn't explain anything. Boring class.
For God sakes! Why is a 200 level classes tougher than 300/400 ones!?! This dude just blows. 1/2 way through the term I started guessing on every test...& still passed the class. I stopped listening because his tests & exams never matched. USUK!
he is so funny. you will laugh. "you have two minutes to do this and hurry up." "if you dont look at study guide dont come to class you will fail" "why you dont know, you dont study" "good morning" "2 minutes o
he is very intelligent, i enjoyed him throughout the year.
Foreign ****. He makes no sense, and does not keep anyone's attention. Book and study guide are worthless and so are notes. Test is basically all about some of the concepts, but out of the study guide...not lectures. Perfect attendance is a savior
I thought he was a pretty good teacher for such a boring subject. But its really funny because he thinks econ. is the best thing in the world. "Read the book, its facsinating" Offers extra credit, you get extra points for perfect attendance.
He is so fun to listen to...his accent is so adorable! Lectures are fun and he makes the concepts understandable. The tests are a little work, but the class is worth it.
I love this guy he made econ so much fun.
this professor is probably the easiest econ teacher. although i only passed by reading the textbook, and studying with classmates. make sure you take your your notes in your own word. econ is hard!!
He's great at this. Reading some of his past ratings, I think I can say that his tests have changed since '03. His lectures are extremely insightful. READ THE BOOK. He offers a great deal of extra credit. His attendance policy can both help and hurt you.
i don't know if he's really hard, or if econ is really hard.makes tests harder than the examples he gives in class.
Very into his subject. Lots of extra credit. Must study for tests, notes are very helpful. Go to class and you will do fine. Study guide is not worth the money.
Great Professor! You will love him! Take notes and study what he tells you to and you'll do fine. He makes this boring subject interesting by adding humor to it. He is one of the funniest professors here and you'll love him. Sign up for Ferdowsi!
Easy, easy... if you're taking economics, definitely choose this guy. I just studied the day before the test and I got an A in the class :)
Ferdowsi is a great teacher. He is very consistent and dependable. Econ isn't my best subject but his lectures have given me a lot of insite into the world of economics. If you read, study notes, and do study guide, the test are a very fair.
Very thick accent. I had a hard time learning the material due to a communication barrier.
Very good professor. Gives students every opportunity to get an A. Take notes and study what he tells you to and you'll do fine.
Get the SLA, do the extra credit and don't miss class and you'll be in the A range.
He is consistant, dependable and very funny. He keeps his lectures interesting by adding jokes. I failed the class my freshman year (because I had more than 7 absences), dropped it my junior year and finally passed it with a B. I could have easily gotten an A had I taken advantage of xtra credit.
His tests are a mystery. His lectures are boring and slow and dont let him catch you sleeping. There is some opportunity for extra credit and attendence points for perfect.
Tough teacher don't take him try someone else
He kind of makes you feel stupid sometimes...he's not very good at answering questions...he doesn't care about his students. However, it's very easy to get an A. Just go to class, read the assigned chapters, and study your notes.
FYI to all you ppl out there bashing MY father, the evil econ teacher, i am his daughter and will haunt you down!!! I am just kidding. :)
Dr. F is definitely 1 of the best professors I have ever had class with @ FSU. I learned a lot in his class. He is very easy to understand and anyway, people who only speak 1 language (English) have no right to criticize the accents of people who can speak 2 languages. Try 2 speak in their language and not have an accent, it's impossible. A+++ prof
I can't remember the course numbers that I took with Ferdowsi, but it was the first Econ and Labor Economics. He is awesome. One of the best profs I had at FSU. I had no trouble understanding him. He is brilliant and keeps class interesting. I highly recommend him over any other Econ professors at FSU.
horrrible class. every test has 10-15 questions. HARD prof.
AVOID THIS MAN! HARDEST CLASS YOU WILL EVER TAKE! he knows his stuff, but expects you to know it down to a T as if it's your major. tests are impossible to ace.
Take him for 221 but Brandley for 222. He does know his stuff, no question about that.
He knows his stuff, but the class was hard. He gives you 2 opportunities to boost your grade. One is an assignment and the other is to not miss any of his classes. The only hitch is that he doesn't accept excused abs. either.
VERY HARD PROFESSOR. every tests is only 10, sometimes 15 ?s total. tests cover none of his lecture notes. super boring. thinks he's funny, but he's not.
eFerdowsi is actually a pretty good teacher, he knows his stuff. The class is hard, no doubt about that, but study, pay attention and go to class and you'll do fine. He doesnt just standin front of the room and lecture, he's active, which makes the class not so boring. He's a nice guy and pretty funny.
He barely speeks english. 8 exams make up your whole grade. he has extra credit. if you have perfect attendance, he raises your grade. VERY boring, not very organized. Hard to take notes. Sometimes he is funny
A bit of an accent but very easy to understand. He wants you to learn the stuff and is demanding but he does care. By the end of the sem I started to actually like the stuff - scarry!
this teacher should not be teacher. he was the worst teacher i ever had. cant understand him because he dosent speak english!!!! his test are a joke and you will fail.
His accent is very understandable (and hilarious!) and his tests are pretty easy (they come straight from the notes, so you don't have to read the book). Sometimes his lectures are boring and you want to go to sleep, but that's mainly because of the subject matter and not him. I'd recommend him to anyone who needs to take 221.
Takes material straight from the book. Uses examples that are easy to understand. Attendence is not required, but perfect attendence will increase your grade. Tests are short and all multiple choice. Easy if you show up.
good job
great gyy. very easy
Good class, professor gives you extra credit for perfect attendance and offers a couple extra credit chances. His tests are really short but if you take then slowly you don't have to sit through a test then a lecture which is what he tries to do. Macroeconomics was much easier for me.
so easy and soo boring. tests are straight from notes, if you take them. tests multiple choice and easy. an A is over 119 points out of 135. ten extra points if you go every day to class. another ten extra points if you write a review for economy articles. he points every morning
He is so funny most of the time. He's got a very sarcastic way of teaching. If you pay attention and read everything 66 times and take wonderful notes and try to know everything for the rest of your life then your golden. haha. thats how he says it in class. I loved this class. He made a hard class alot easier. And theres some extra credit!!!
This class was hard, like most ECON classes. The material is hard to understand and his Iranian accent makes it that much harder. He really knows his *hit though. If you work hard then you might get a "B".
If you attend this class every day it is not very difficult to get an A. Offers extra credit assignments and extra credit for perfect attendance. Buy the study guide with the textbook.

This guy was funny. You do use the book everyday so yeah buy it. I am not a good test taker so i only got a B in the class. He goes through the chapter hella fast so keep up. HOnestly the best route to go with this teacher is to teach yourself. Use the study guide too
Very hard class. Only 15 to 20 questions on each test and it covers 2 to 3 chapters.
The only real complaint I have is that the exams are always on a friday!!! Also having class after the exams gets kind of old. Everything else about the class is great though. Take him for econ :)
Great professor. Very clear on the materials covered. Very organized. And funny guy. He makes ECONOMICS a whole lot of fun. His exams are not that hard except for that Chapter 14 exam - that one was a killer. Just read and do that study guides. Even though i got a B from that class, I learned alot! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!! YOU'LL NEVER REGRET IT
I really like this professor (def. taking him for 222), and he is pretty funny. Also, with the half-grade boost for perfect attendance and 10 points in extra credit (the whole class is 135 points), it's easy do good. Just read the summaries and do the multiple choice in the (required) study guide before every test, and you should do great!
Professor Ferdoswi is a funny guy. He jokes around a lot during the class. The class is easy if you take good notes. He offers extra credit during the semester, up to ten points. Perfect attendance gives you ten extra points as well. There are 135 points total, including the the 20 extra credit points. Your only grades are on 8 tests.
Read the book + study guide, then easy A!
Hard to understand, but you get used to it. LOVES GRAPHS. If you dont label the graphs, you will be totally lost. READ THE BOOK, or take notes. That's the only way you can pass the class. Test every week, no extra credit offered.
This is a very hard class. If you have not interest in econ try and take something else (or just a different professor). He is very hard to understand and has a weird teaching method. He uses way to many graphs that don't make sense and expects you to understand and know everything before he teaches it!
Very Difficult class, he doesn't seem to communicate very well one-on-one to online students. Try to take this class IN PERSON if you can. Otherwise, make sure you study the graphs.
Really funny guy, salutes you every day...don't ever write your friends name down for someone for attendance he will flip out. Quizzes are easy, there was extra credit assignments but you don't need it.
He is the worst teacher I have had. I can never understand him and he doesn't know how to reword his teachings for easier understanding when the class is confused. He is the worst!!
I can't believe how badly Ferdowsi got rated. He's such a good teacher. Obviously, he is foreign but his English is not bad at all and he knows what he's doing. He gives great examples to help students understand the material. Study guide is necessary for passing this class. Perfect attendance = half a letter grade boost. More EC is available too.
Liked him. Kind of funny at times. His english is good. I can understand him just fine. I would recommend him. Class was easy if you pay attention and take notes.
Great Prof, recommended. Funny guy, he tries to make class interesting and he's very willing to help if there's confusion with the material. Must go to all his lectures to do well.
Good professor! I definitely recommend taking his class if you want to learn econ and get a good grade. If you buy the study guide and take the practice quizzes, you will get an A. Interesting lectures. Uses a lot of graphs. Gives 8 quizzes during the semester covering 1-2 chapters, 10-20 questions a piece, which make up your entire grade.
Great teacher, he likes to joke around and makes fun of students to better understand material. Tests basically come right from the study guide and you must review it to do good on the tests. Easy A! He gives lots of extra points for perfect attendance and writing current events.
Funny guy. Never taken an econ course but he made it pretty easy to understand. Straightforward tests and lectures, sometimes the graphs get a little confusing. BUY THE WORKBOOK! All the questions for the tests come from that.
He is an awesome professor. I have no interest in economics but he explains everything very well. Funny guy, easy to talk to, and very helpful. I highly recommend him! If you pay attention to lecture and do the study guide you'll ace the test. He bumps your grade up a whole bracket for attending every class and offers extra credit.
Ferdowsi makes econ really straight forward. He loves to use the study guide for his tests. If you read the book, go over notes and do the study guide then you will have a good grade. He also offers extra credit for econ articles and perfect attendance.
Great teacher. Makes economics easy to understand and easier to follow. I found him pretty funny. He does have an accent and uses a "custom book" so it is harder to find used but its totally worth the A!
Take him! He is fun, interesting and uses everyday examples to explain concepts discussed in class. He gives extra credit for class attendance and article summaries. If you don't understand something he is more than willing to help you understand it. If you go to class and read the book you will get an A.
Great teacher, helpful and easy to understand, take advantage of the extra credit and you will have no problems getting an A
Take this guy! No joke, i thought it was going to be hard because of his language but he makes it easy! I didn't have any interest in Econ. Now I love it and knowing the things I do from this class!
He is a good teacher and if you need help he is more than happy to help. The only thing is he has mandatory attendance but I didn't think it was too hard. just read the chapters and show up to class you will get a least a B
He is a very good professor but you need to show up to class. His accent is not very strong overall I rate him a good professor
Ferdowsi uses the majority of his class time drawing graphs and examples on his whiteboard. In order to pass this class you have to keep up with your textbook reading. His tests are pretty hard and often the questions are worded strangely. He is a nice guy but I personally didn't like his teaching techniques.
Hard to fail if you come to the classes. Offers a lot of opportunities for little grade boosts. Quizzes and tests are a little difficult, but his grading scale leaves some leeway. If you use the study guide in the "good book", as he calls it, you'll have a much easier time with the test. Super funny, not exactly the most helpful though.
Although his accent made things difficult in the beginning, he is such a nice guy. He makes jokes about little things that are really funny and he's very good at explaining things in depth so that the tests are a breeze. Just pay attention and try to think about what he's saying and you'll do just fine.
Absolutely the most ridiculous class I have ever taken. You get 120 points total, all tests. You miss one question, that's basically one percent of your grade. No homework, no extra credit. Nothing but tests. This guy has no idea what he is doing as far as teaching goes. He knows econ very well, however, he is a horrible teacher. DO NOT TAKE!!!!!
Ferdowsi, while not my favorite professor this semester, knows what he's talking about and is there to help if you need it. After 6 absences, you fail the class, so make sure not to skip too often. It's hard to read his handwriting, so make sure you bring your book to follow along.
Good guy but not a good teacher. Econ is a tough topic regardless but this professor didn't seem to help. If you don't miss ANY class throughout the semester he'll bump you up a letter grade, trust me you'll need it. You automatically fail if you miss 6 classes. Study hard and pay close attention but know that it's not going to come easy
You won't learn from the lectures, and if you skip 6 times you fail. Take anyone else. Have fun teaching yourself
Literally the worst prof I've ever had to deal with. Less than helpful when answering questions, condescending, and makes you feel inferior if you don't understand something. Horrible accent, skips a lot of important information, and wastes time during lecture. Absolutely avoid him. I learned more from reading the book than from his lectures.
Heavy accent and terrible handwriting so you basically have to teach yourself out of the book. Makes you feel stupid by saying "this question is so easy. Should only take you 5 seconds" and "do this question and hurry up". Each of his tests are only worth 15-25 points so missing one or two questions significantly hurts your grade. Don't take him.
WORST TEACHER EVER!!!!!!!! I had him for 221. I had to retake it with another teacher and it was the best decision I ever made. His lectures are very unclear. He is not very helpful. You cannot miss one class or you will miss everything.
Awful at direction. Failed to clearly identify testing policy in syllabus (resulting in an open-book test policy not being communicated until after several tests had already been taken). Very unapproachable and poor communicator. When asked for advice or tips, he avoided the question. Would NOT recommend for anyone.
Best professor at Ferris. Extremely intelligent, funny, and helpful. Anyone who gives him a bad rating must have failed his class. I would recommend anyone to take his class, even if econ isn't required for your major.
He is tough to understand, his lectures are very boring. he draws graphs and put notes on the board but his handwriting is impossible to read. When talking to other kids, it seems like he is becoming significantly worse to have. He grades completely off of like 6 exams and the exams are TOUGH. no extra credit. DO NOT TAKE
He can't speak/write English very well although he knows a lot about the subject. His lectures are useless so you are forced to rely solely on the book. That's good because the tests are from the online questions and the book. The test are made by the department, not him. He is there simply to fill a place. Its a good class if you are a book person
Ferdowsi is a unique character. He has a very thick accent but is easy to understand after the first week. He will crack the occasional joke but demands respect. Attendance will help you out greatly in this class along with doing the extra credit article summary's. Don't expect to fall asleep in this class or show up late on test day.
He has an Indian accent so it's hard to understand him the first week of class, but it gets easier. He tries to make this class easy, and likes to make jokes about the material. His tests are short and there's no homework, but he offers 10 extra credit papers. Also, if you never miss a class, he bumps your grade up a bracket (B+ becomes A-).
Great professor! He talks slow and is very thorough. Gives 10 points extra credits if you read the articles assigned and write summaries for those. If you have perfect attendance, he will also bump your grade up (B+ to A-). Has online homework but not for graded. Most of the test questions are from these online homework. Would recommend to take him
He is very difficult to understand and is not helpful when you talk to him in his office. He treated me very rudely. Econ is already a very touch subject, but he makes it much more difficult. I recommend taking this with any professor but him if you really want to learn about Econ.
Don't take this professor. I had to drop the class and many other people i know also had to drop his class. he is known around campus for being a very tough professor and everyone says to avoid him.
Ferdowsi is a great guy and really knows economics but lacks in clarity at times. Overall his class is pretty easy but just expect to read alot on your own as well.
Can't understand. Not willing to work with students.
While his accent is heavy and his handwriting is atrocious, he teaches the material well and follows the textbook to the letter. All assignments are tests or quizzes and are very easy, he goes over many of the questions in the optional online homework. He also offers extra credit papers, and has a great sense of humor if you pay attention.
Difficult to understand at first. Passionate teacher and is always willing to help the students understand concepts. Read the book, use the additional resources available and you will do GREAT. Classroom policies allow for extra credit (perfect attendance will increase your letter grade at the end of the semester)
Sweet, soothing voice. 10/10 would take again.
His lectures do not help with the course material. His test review shouldn't even be classified as "learning". Someone just reads off some questions and everyone yells out their answer, he gives no feedback. Very hard to understand and maybe was a good professor at one time. But no longer.
