He's a horible instructor. Not helpful at all. Needs to retire.
Difficult to understand, couldn't read his handing writing, doesn't really help you and doesn't explain things well.
It was hard to understand him somtimes, but his notes were really good.
Not the best prof, but lets you use index cards on test. I wrote down all the examples in tiny print--made things simple.
Very Smart. Very Tough to understand, but overall taught the class very well. i understood the basic concepts when I was finished.
Knows alot about math, but doesnt explain it too well. Can be funny sometimes, and helpful, but can be slightly intimidating, gives you that "your not smart enough to know this?" look when you ask for help
Extremely EASY! just go to class. BUT YOU NEED TO GO TO CLASS!!! DO NOT MISS CLASS. the homework is way harder than the tests.
Explains things very well and have to go to class to pass this class.
Should not be teaching. Does not care to encourage students. Avoid higher level classes with this person if at all possible.
I think that he needs to retire and not teach anymore. He does not encourage his students, and does not give them the chance to discuss matters with him. He does not care about the success of his students and therefore i think he should not be a professor at Stanislaus, he is horrible
This guy's answer for everything is "read your notes." He is not very helpful. He wasted class time by asking EVERY student if they had a calculator. If you don't realize that you need a calculator for a stats class, then something wrong. It's like asking someone if they remember to breath.
taught a tough subject well. if you go to class you will learn, he explains it well and will repeat it you ask.

Go to class. The book is not helpful, but you will learn everyhing you need to know from the notes for the hw and tests. The accent can be hard to understand. Get a study group together and the class is easier.
accent hard to understand. can use three 4x6 or 3x5 card on each exam. no final. textbook is pretty useless. get a tutor name CHRIS. eldery gentlement with white beard. he helped me with all my HW problems and i got full credit. labs and hw are from previous semesters. find a buddy who has taken hsi class. he is picky with decimal points and etc.
Attend all lectures, go to class, do the homework, do the labs instead of copying from neighbors. He is a good teacher, but dont' read the book, just do what he wants exactly. I would recommend him.
Explains things very well and lets students use notecards on tests. Just go to class and copy EVERYTHING he writes on the board. It's difficult to get past his accent and he's not too willing to help individuals - he will refer you to Chris Yonan.
Go to class (you will need all the notes). Do not rely on your book; you only use it for HW. He goes into great detail, so you will not have problems with the material. Don't ask him for help; ask students. Allows notecards for exam. Heavy accent.
Dr. Fazal is awesome! All he talks about in class is how he wants all his students to be SUCCESSFUL! He's very understanding to allow you to skip an exam if something comes up, gives you extra help, and overall is a kind man.
He's a good teacher. Pay attention, show up & you'll learn a lot.

hes horrible... doesnt speak english
he is a very nice professor and very easy to get along with. he is ver helpful and u will ejoy his class he is cool and funny. sometimes he is weird but in the long run u will be happy that u took stats with him.
He was kinda unclear but willing to go way out his way to help you out. Questions on tests straight off HW. Do the homework ace the tests skate through
Hard to understand, just copy everything from the board down. You get a crapload of notecards for the test. Just don't try to leave early when you're done. Very irritating.
Just show up for every class and take notes. Book just needed to do the homework, since he uses alot of his own notation. Write every single step if you want credit on homework or on tests. Do those things and you should do well, since not very helpful during office hours.
he is a great professor in my opinion. it was fun taking him in the summer. it was long but he is cool (sometimes) and he really knows his stuff
This prof will make you feel at ease, but watch out, his tests are beasts!
I'm not a great math student. I got a C. He's tough, but he makes it fun.
He's an "alright" person, he can be cool and funny though. Very bright man! Very PICKY on exams & labs! write down formulas before u work out the problem. Show all work! study notes, they help a lot! His labs are helpful, reinforces what u were suppose to get from lecture. get to use 5 4x6 cards on tests. Not hard at all, just study!
He is hard to understand; can be nice; very, very particular about how he wants problems and answers recorded. His tests are fairly difficult, and he only gives one hour to do like 5 full- page problems. He can be very conscending at times, and this makes him appear rude. Overall, I guess I would recomend him.
Great teacher. Goes over everything you need to know. If you do the homework and labs, the test should be a breeze. Picky about doing it HIS way, but it is pretty easy. Nice guy.
I had to get a tutor to get through this one.
greates teacher ever, have 3 tests only, allows u to use notecard and 5 questions on the hw always due at the end of the week... CANNOT GET ANY EASIER trust me
Difficult to understand, but he allows you to use notecard for tests and explains everything. Very picky about things being done his way, but if you do what he wants no one should have a problem. I almost transfered out the first few days of the semester, but now I'm glad I didnt.
Hard to understand because of his accent. Nice, and funny at times. Doesn't like questions.
Get tutor, named Chris, do not hesittate, get Chris right way!!!! I had a harder time with the class, wish I had gotten tutor sooner, very specific on how he wants things done!
MAN HE SUCKS DONT TAKE HIM, HE IS NICE AND FUNNY, BUT WASTES TO MUCH TIME TRYING TO BE FUNNY... HE DOESNT HELP YOU MUCH ONE ON ONE, AND SOME OF OF HIS RULES ARE VERY POINTLESS, HE HAS TO HAVE EVERYTHING HIS WAY! IF NOT GOOD LUCK... OH AND HE LOVES TO GIVE LIFE LECTURES
if you really have time to learn u should take him for finite math. he is a really easy teacher if u actually do ur work trust me! i failed because i didnt have time to learn finite! its hard but he makes it easy. hes the easiest finite teacher. lets u use note cards!
Great professor, understood everything he was giving. Did great on every homework assingment
Like they said, he is very particular. But he gives great lectures. Goes over it a few times if you need to. If you do homework with the samples from class, you'll get an A. Tests..you get notecards. How much nicer do you want? Test questions are just like the lab questions and/or homework questions. Definitely take him.
he is a sweet man and he means well. he can be hard to understand at times but he will happily clear things up for you. just do the work and you'll be okay.
He is very unfair. He may give you notecards for tests but the material is still hard because it's hard to understand him. MY ADVICE just don't take him you're likely to FAIL!! if you do
not willing to help you out.
He is very picky, but he explains things very well and gives examples for everything. I am not a "math person" but I got an A after trying to take this class at MJC and dropping it. He lets you use notecards, which are SO helplful on the tests. Overall, it's not an easy class but if you come and take notes and use them, you can't fail.
Nice person, bad teacher. I got an A in the class, but didn't learn a single thing. Take Reneau instead.
If you did everything his way you should be fine. His tests are mainly based on the lab work. The lab is based on his notes in class. There were 3 tests. just focus on the labs and notes when you study for the tests
Awful teacher. Just awful. He has a very heavy accent which makes him hard to understand at times. Goodness forbid you ask him questions. He talks down to his students and if the class doesn't understand something he will compare them to 2nd graders. Very condescending. Did I mention awful?
He uses the class as his political soapbox and is very manipulative in interactions with his students...meaning he will ask for opinions and responses and then in the most condescending, rude tone ever, verbally embarass them and make them feel like they are ignorant and stupid for speaking their mind
Hard to understand. Wants all the work done "HIS" way. Everything needs to be on time, very picky with his works. Doesn't like to be challenged with problems. Needs to be in class everyday to pass. And in the beggining of class, he'll ask you if you are or aren't an bussness major, if NOT-he will kick you out of his class. Yep, drop you.
This teacher is horrible. His accent is one of the worst and it makes him very hard to understand. He is not willing to help you and always talks down to his students. Take someone else if possible
VERY hard to Understand...Dont ask questions...Attend every class...DO LABS(Test looks exactly the same). His way or the highway....GOOOOOODLUUUUCK
You better prey to god before taking this class!..good luck and you better bring in all you good luck charms with you to class everyday
loved his class it was super easy. he cannot be blamed for bad grades it's just the students don't pay attention. He teaches really good and labs are where your gonna learn the most. don't ask him any questions cause he never gives the right answer you just have to figure it out yourself. Do the homework and on exams he lets you use 5 index car
gives step by step notes, lets you use notecards on the test, has an accent but it fades away the first week. you must do everything the way he shows you.do all the homework and dont miss class. if you do what he tells you, you will pass.i loved this professor. took stats 1600 with him also..passed both classes:)
Really hard grading on tests. you can get 9/11 correct and barely get a C. Doesn't involve class in lecture, goes off on tangents often. Says simple minded everyday. Enjoy yourself!!
extremly nice guy. Be prepared to take lots of notes. The test are super easy. exactly like the labs. You get a choice of using five 5x3 or 4x6 cards with notes. Just don't ask for help because all he does is repeat what he said before. Get to work in groups so that makes it even easier. Funny n nice guy. TAKE THIS CLASS!
Professor Fazal was very hard to understand the first few sessions of class(he has a really thick accent) but after a week or so I could understand most of what he was saying. He is a really nice guy that likes to have fun with his students, but don't goof off in class or he'll call you out. Lets you use 5 3x5 cards on the test. I reccomend Fazal.
Definitely one of the worst teachers I've ever had. Do not ask him for help, for anything, he will not give it to you. &If he feels like you're not trying hard enough he'll just give your a drop form and will want you out of his class. The labs helped a lot more than his lectures. &He constantly mumbles to himself.
When I found out I had to take a math for my major I was not looking frward to it! This class is so easy though. Just go to all the lecture and LABS. U will probabyl learn more in the labs. I recommend copying the examples off the labs on ur 5 3X5 index cards u get to use for the test. U will get the A like that. Has accent but u will get use to it
Very hard class. Learned alot, but hard class. Examples that he does in class are almost identical to problems on his test.
WORST MATH TEACHER EVER!! DO NOT TAKE HIM! Fazal is a horrible teacher and doesn't explain anything. It's his way or the highway. Does not teach out of the text book so your screwed if you don't understand him. I'm a math major and stats is an easy class but he made it way more difficult than it needed to be =(
1st you need to get use to his accent. He expects you to automatically know what he is teaching. Tends to just give answers without explaining the way he got the answers. I recommend not taking him. But the only problem with that is he is the only professor offered for this course. DONT TAKE if you dont have to
Fazal is definitely not an easy professor. He teaches everything different from the book and you HAVE to do things his way or it's wrong. That being said, you get 5 notecards for exams and the questions are usually similar to examples in class. He will try to throw some curve balls as well though. I wouldn't take him again.
If u come to class every day and take good notes u will be fine. U will pass if you put in effort. I went to the tutoring center a few times but it was ok
This teacher is terrible! He constantly says things like: "even a 5th grader could do this work" or "this is really easy," which doesn't help you understand it. He won't answer your questions and he doesn't care about his students.
VERY HARD PROFESSOR DOESNT HELP AND EXPECTS FOR THE STUDENTS TO KNOW WHAT HE IS TALKING ABOUT I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS CLASS. AND YOU NEVER USE HIS TEXT BOOK ITS ALL ON HIS NOTES
At times this class was frustrating to say the least! Take good notes, do the hw and labs, attend class every day, and go to his office if you need help. He won't help you during class,he expects you to get help from classmates. 5 notecards for exams, and no final. He is very picky, do EVERYTHING EXACTLY the way he does it or you'll get it wrong.
I took 1500 and 1610 with Dr. Fazal. If you come to class, and take good notes you will do just fine. He is really a nice guy, if you give him a chance. You will notice that he doesn't like it when students miss class or come in late. Overall, I had a great experience with this professor. I definately recommend!
I would only recommend him if you are the type of student that is able to teach yourself unfamilar material that you didn't understand from him. When you ask him for help he tells you, "Refer to your notes".
Dr. Fazal is awesome! The class is really really simple. All you have to do is come to class, take really good notes the way he does, attend the lab sessions, and do your hw. It's that simple. There are only 3 tests the entire semester, and he lets you use notecards. The tests are based off the labs. However, don't depend on him to answer questions.
First of all if you like a picky teacher then by all means take his class. You can't understand half of what he says in his lectures do the fact that he coughs mumbles and expects you to know what he said. Even sitting at the front it was hard to understand him!
Fazal has been by far one of the worst professors i've had, i recommend that no one takes this class. unless your able to teach yourself unfamiliar material. he grades way to hard on anything you do. HW is worth the same amount of tests. Stay away from this professor.
Worse math teacher i have ever had. First of all you, you have to get used to his accent. His 3 exams are worth 90% of your grade and only 10% is for homework. Highly recommend not taking his class. YOU WILL STRUGGLE!!
Statistics is a hard class, but Fazal made it a lot easier to understand. It helps too if you study with your classmates.
Dr. Fazal is a little crazy & difficult to understand. He does his best to make the class passable, but you must study with classmates, show up to class, and do homework/labs to pass. No stats class is easy, but Dr. Fazal overall is not bad if you can get past his accent and weirdness..
Fazal is a good guy overall, but it is difficult to understand him. When you ask him for help, he just tells to you look at "your notes", which don't even help you. He can be very confusing a majority of the time and only likes when you do your work "his way". Forget all statistics you have learned if you want to pass this class.
He is a really nice person and is funny, but as a professor he is hard. It is hard to understand him and sometimes hard to read his writing. All the math you do has to be HIS way or he will dock you points. He is VERY nit-picky and can be difficult. He also sometimes does not explain things very well.
This professor is a bit difficult to understand, goes very quickly through the notes, is not very explanatory, and gets frustrated if you don't understand. Even if you do understand the math, his specific preferences on how you present your work can and will get you docked points.HIS TESTS ARE BASED ON THE LABS AND HOMEWORK!
Very nice professor!! I had to work really hard in his class to get an A, but I learned a lot.
If you attend class and study off of your notes you'll pass the class. He allows you to have five flash cards for each exam. There is three exams, homework, and no final. 10 percent of your final grade is your homework and 30 percent for each exam.
Fazal seems like he can be a bit difficult, but he knows exactly what he wants and tells you exactly what he wants and what he expects, there are no surprises. He can be very picky with small details, but he makes this class beyond easy for you. He wants you to pass, but expect a lot of notes that will eventually make sense.
I enjoyed Fazals class. Fazal is very picky so you have to go to class and do all the assignments his way. It is not a difficult class but it helps if you have a good lab group. Only 3 tests (you can use 5 notecards on the test), 8 HW assignments, and 10 labs. I would recommend this professor.
The class was tough, but if you show up to class and pay attention in class you will be fine. The test are exactly like the labs he assigns, very helpful. He's very particular but his class , but for the test he lets you have 5 flash cards. He is a good guy.
Man! I have never had a math teacher who is so strict even the work is graded. The work has to be exactly how he wants it written. You will lose points for having the work different from his, regardless of whether the answer and work is right.
nice guy but sooooo hard. Just dont....
Midway through the course, decided to stop checking our work; still maintains that the course is only passable once he's checked off. So now how can we prepare for exams? Probably a sweet man outside of the university, but teaches in an outdated, backwards and sometimes geriatric way. Avoid if you can. Also, has chronic asthma that he does not medicate for - good luck understanding him.
Cannot express this enough - avoid him. This is the type of instructor who has no place teaching at a collegiate level anymore. You can tell that Dr. Fazal is a sweet man outside of school, but his ability to tear down morale and waste a semester where you could be in another class actually learning far outweighs all of his positve qualities combined. Time to retire, sir.
Dr. Fazal is a very tough teacher. He knows exactly what he wants and he expects perfect work from each student. His tests are exactly like the labs, so you know what to expect and he lets you use calculators and 5 note cards full of whatever you want to put on it. He hates it when students skip class and he will call you out for it. Be on time too
Most particular man I have ever met. He does not answer questions, he cuts you off any time you talk. He doesnt even explain what hes doing he just starts writing and doesnt tell you where hes getting the numbers from. I would not take a class from him if I had the choice to.
Extremely picky about work--doesn't matter if you got the answer right if you don't do the work the way he wants. He gives you the exact way he wants everything done though--as long as you do everything the way he says, you'll be fine. Doesn't use graphing calculators--no need for a $200 calculator!! All formula-based.
