Teaches irrelevent information... sometimes was extremely confusing... I would spend the whole time in class doing homework and learning from the book because I did not like his teaching style. Extremely nice... his tests are easy and he is linient and not strict what so ever... very understanding if you leave early or get there late.
OMG. I had him during the summer and it was the worst class ever! He spent way too much time on stuff we already knew and rushed through new stuff. He didn't seem to have any notes or homework stuff prepared for class and was really unhelpful. It was fairly easy, but avoid this instructor if possible
Not the easiest teacher in the world. His accent sometimes makes it hard to understand what he's saying and sometimes he does rush through things. That being said, as long as you come to class and pay attention, he gets the job done. I passed his class, so it couldn't have been all bad.
Very confusing, he doesn't really know to teach...but overall he's not that hard
This guy does not teach well at all, he does not understand what he is teaching and is hard to understand!!! DOn't take his classes
Mr. nasiri was a good teacher and really helped me out with the difficult concepts. I would recommend him because he takes his time and really cares about his students.
Very confusing. Incorporates personal experience in the lesson plan. He yells when you ask ?'s, he spends too much time going over homework and then rushes through the new material that he should've been spending major time on. Mr Nasiri is very nice, but his teaching/listening skills needs improvement. DON'T TAKE HIM, IF YOU DON'T HAVE TO!!!!!!
this guy is one of the worse teachers that i have ever sat a in class with. he can't speak clearly. he is a torture to listen to.
This guy is hard. He teaches in Tennyson High School as teacher too. I had him and he was hard on everything and I dropped out of his class. Many students failed his class. So don't take him. If you went to tennyson high school you should know about him or heard. Can't understand**** what explain on the board.
Terrible communication and student interaction skills. Very demeaning and un helpful! Very difficult to understand, thinks outloud and has made several error in his instruction and calculations. Never addresses problems, has comments you are adults you have to worry about it, I don't, or you are not babies my 2 year old grandchild can add!
He was a wonderful professor. He was nice and cared a lot about his students. I loved that he would add in personal experience and talk about his family--it made the time go by quicker. If you want to really learn, you should take him. He is challenging, in a good way.
Dont' take this teacher... comapres you to his high school students... cannot explain class
Mr Nasiri is quite horrific as a teacher...i used to be smart and now i am a D student struggling to graduate...he accuses us of throwing stones at him and raising his blood pressure....plus i cant understand the words that are coming out of his mouth
I took his Geometry class in High School. He's absolutely terrible. I rarely understood what was coming out of his mouth (hella thick accent/horrible grammar)and I had a terrible time staying awake. He was never a jerk to me or anyone else, and he passed me with a C, but I didn't learn any math. Avoid him if you can.
this guy is cool anyone can pass
Funny guy, eventhough he doesn't mean to be most of the time. Overall, good style and makes the material digestable.
This is math...so come to class prepared, focus and this teacher will be great for you. I pretty much completed all my math with him, never got lower than an A-. If you are serious about learning then you will enjoy him as a teacher. If you just wanna get by...then expect him to be tough.
Great professor. do your work, ask for help when you need it and he will direct you. Dont get hung up on his accent, just focus on the math. He is really sweet.
Mr. Nasiri has been teaching here for a while and i took him on reccomendation of my aunt. I'm glad i did because i was out of school for a few years and wasn't sure on how to get into the swing of things. Mr. Nasiri helped out a lot and got me interested in math again. I reccommend him to anyone.
Nice man but terrible teacher. I agree with most of the comments that he spends too much time on easy concepts and not enough time on the hard ones. His accent was the least of my problems. I will never choose him as a prof again.
Show up to class and be ready to learn. Math is a learning process you need to constantly practice anyways. He tried to skip office hours, and if you ask questions during class he gets easily sidetracked. Had issues with handling the class but they were mostly all highschoolers anyway.
Great teacher. He cares about students learning math. Disruptive students upset him very much. I recommend him, if you are interested in math. If you act as if math is a requirement that you need to get out of the way then don't take his class.
Please beware! he's extremely hard and is really mean no matter how nice and polite you are! Underestimates his students. math is his passion so dont take him if u just want to get this class out of the way you'll suffer. I dropped it even tho i was one class short to transfer!
Mr. Nasiri was a great professor & is passionate about teaching and math. If he seems mean, it is only because he gets impatient with students who just want a passing grade to meet a requirement. He appreciates hardworking students. If you take this class seriously you will learn a lot. I also like all the stories he tells, makes class more fun
He's nice yes, but assumes you already know how to do most of the work. Gets to the main point & doesn't clarify his steps on the way. We do say, section 2.5 Wed, 2.6 Thurs and doesn't ever go over 2.5 again unless you have specific questions you'd like to go over. He's not a math teacher I would want to take again and expect to learn much from.
SERIOUSLY? HE'S MATH SUICIDE. FOR ONE HIS ACCENT IS SO THINK IT'S TOO DAMN DIFFICULT TO UNDERSTAND HIM MAKES ME WANT TO BANG MY HEAD AGAINST THE WALL. HE LINGERS ON ONE PROBLEM FOR TOO LONG--THEN HE CONFUSES HIMSELF ON WHAT HE WAS DOING. HE TEACHES TOO SLOW AND EXPECTS US TO DO 5 CHAPTERS OF HOMEWORK PER WEEK. NEVER AGAIN AM I TAKING HIS CLASSES.
Ok, yes his accent is thick. But after a while, if you stay in the class you get used to it and understand everything. Maybe he's been reading the bad reviews, because he was actually really good during my summer session. The only reason why I got a C was because I did not keep up with the homework. The test were just the same as the homework.
He is a great teacher. His passion is math and he tries to display that. I came to just get by and get my C to pass, but I actually started to like math. The haters write about his accent, but if you listen to him, you will learn math. He is not an English teacher!!!!
He curves the grade!!!! I get Ds on my test and did 3 chapters of hw, and I get a B for the class.
AWESOME!
Very good teacher, Very descriptive of the problems his teaching if you don't know how he got the answer he'll break it down, he has an accent but it didn't stop me from learning, because the equations were on the board
This is honestly the worst math teacher i have ever had. I would never take another class from him and would even transfer to avoid him!
By far da worst math teacher I've ever had. He is extremely rude 2 his students, always gets off task & talks bout his niece, kids, g-ma's & g-pa's, da only thing I learned n his class is prolly his family chain & then he doesn't give u enough time 4 da test. he comes along ur desk & literally snatches da test out of ur hand wit a Hr left of class.
Great teacher, as many have stated he has accent, but math does not require language. He will inspire you to enjoy math.
He uses MathxL for homework. For the most part i found his lectures useless and did all my studying and review using the MAthXL program.
This class is easy because he goes with the material thoroughly. He makes sure you get the problem. Attendance is a must. I use my book just for reference, all homework is online (MathXL) He will give you a key to study. He grades on a curve. All in all, I wont mind taking him for another math class.
Boycott! Dont have time for courtesy here, my gpa is excellent & entering in his class is suicide! I was a math tutor, did not learn anything from this man other than reading the textbook aloud. Poor structure for grading, Attendence & hw accts 10%,ur grade is based on 2-3 Tests of everything in semester, same time as hw due!is not helpful if u ask!
He is really nice to students who are rude to him. However, he is really frustrated with students who ask him questions or will point them out in class. He is also really slow when he talks and will go off on tangents. He teaches out of the textbook so sometimes you are just better off reading the book.
He spends majority of the time talking about the introduction on each of the chapters which can easily be done by reading the book at home. He ONLY works on 3-4 problems per chapter so you barely learn anything. He curves the tests but his whole class average are in the 60's. I was better off dropping his class than risking my gpa.
Worst class and teacher I have ever had. He talks about his nieces all class and doesn't teach anything. He goes over 1-3 basic problems on each section and expects you to fully understand it. If you ask a question about a problem he will get mad. He will give you a study guide for exams and they won't even be the same style problems on the exam.
When he messes up grading your tests, he gets mad if he has to change it for you. His lectures are very long, but i did have him for a night class so that could be why. The first half of the class you must truly read the book to understand anything but when he teaches the trig portion, his tests coincide with his lectures a lot. Still hard though.
He passes everyone at the end so he doesn't look bad by raising their grade up by one grade letter. He is by far the worst professor ever. He needs to leave because everytime I hear about him is that he gets mad, talks about his life, and honestly no one is learning anything and chabot admissison still haven't noticed the failure rate in his class.
I have to rate this Prof. because I don't want other students to be his victims. Enrolled? drop it NOW before is too late. Not helpful, he does not answer Questions and compares you with 5grd student, he is always frustrated and behind the schedule and mumbling with himself. YOU will not learn anything.
I didn't learn anything from this teacher. He makes up his own rules and makes numerous mistakes during his lectures. He fell behind in lectures so we had to suffer because of it. The things he says make no sense. His practice tests can be helpful but you basically need to self- teach yourself.
he has an accent thats for sure you wont pass if you dont do his homework and also he is not willing to help unless he likes you
For a STEM major like myself, this class wasn't too bad, but for someone who struggles with math, skip this professor. He just doesn't care. He will talk about his family in Pakistan rather than lecture on occasion, and doesn't like to answer questions. "I hope you understand that" is his catchphrase. signaling you to teach yourself at home.
a bit on the scattered side but overall a good experience in his class.
Mr. Nasiri is a real good instructor. I like his teaching style. He is helpful. Willing to guide you after class and during office hours. He can come across very strict but you could tell he cares about teaching. He doesn't tolerate tardiness and chatter in class. I would take his class again.
Nasiri is an amazing teacher who tries his best to help his students; however, he does quite often go off tangent a lot. He gives his past tests to study from, and that helped a lot.
Nasiri knows the material well, but he goes through it far too quickly IMO. His pace often doesn't allow students to keep up and follow along. He does hand out practice tests, except for the final, which are very helpful. If he would slow down just a bit and take a moment to ask if anyone has questions, he would be a far superior instructor.
Good grief, this is the worst teacher I've ever had. He gets mad at his students for going to the bathroom or showing up late, this is college! He puts down student's questions, is not clear when teaching, and fell behind on coursework. I spent the entire term reading the book and praying that my hard work would pull me through... not worth it.
The absolute worst teacher I have ever had
His pace was too fast, when he grades the tests he is not clear on marking what you actually did wrong. He seemed to rush everything and he does not let you use anything for the test not even an index cards.
Hands down the worse teacher ive ever had in time as a student. I would not recommend for anyone to take him unless you dont have a choice. He was impossible to reach outside of class, his lectures were unclear, and he would never slow down to take questions.
Gives practice exams that are quite similar to actual tests. Found out he curves exams up to an average of a c so if class average is a 62 percent, he gives everyone 8 percentage points. So if you got a 73%, hell bump you up 8% to a B on exams. Does go off tangent a bit. His office hours are pretty good too, went once for few questions.
Had to have multiple friends who are in Calc 2 and passed trig with an A help me out and even yet they said he was the wort teacher, He only gives 1or 2 examples per concept and expects you to understand the material and gets mad if you ask questions. Would highly drop the class and take another professor, get a tutor or learn from khan acad.
Bro my guy, this is the worst teacher I have had. I had shown up to his first lecture and I didn't understand anything. He will explain the concept, but you have to connect the dots to understand what he is saying. He does not like it when students interrupt him and ask questions. When he says does anybody have any questions ask it then not later.
The professor is easy to get along with but can be so mean at times by calling out on students during class. I am sorry maybe it's because it's online but he can NOT teach. We go over about two problems but doesn't explain how to work it. He also gets bothered if you ask questions.
At all costs, please avoid picking this professor for your own good. He is an extremely harsh grader. To put it in perspective, the class average on exams was about a C- for Calculus 1. I would recommend either taking a different professor or wait next semester to find a better one.
Mr. Nasiri is the best math teacher I have ever had. I took trig with him and I am still in high school so everything was very clear. He is very nice and replies to emails very quickly. I plan to take pre-Cala with him.
Probably the worst math teacher I've had in my life. He isn't helpful at all, any questions are deflected on to the student. Has very little empathy towards his students, even having covid isn't an valid excuse to him. He barely explains the material, and you'll often have to go into the book at the very least.
This class was awful, The Mid-Term and Final are both no calculators despite the rest of the online work being calculator friendly. Lectures were not very useful and he often blames the students more on the content that he gives us to assist our learning and understanding of the subject.
Professor Nasiri uses MyLab&Mastering for homework so if you don't like that, don't take him. He's accessible outside of class, but use the message system in Canvas. The lectures are based on his notes from previous classes, and the questions on the notes are taken from the textbook; overall, not the best, but he tries his best.
I would like to warn all other students to avoid this professor if possible. Many student have had to drop his class and he is by far the laziest professor I have ever had to study under. I have had amazing experiences in the past with other professors at Chabot but this guy has been the worst professor I have ever had. He does not teach at all
This professor definitely is not someone whom I would recommend taking as your professor. He does not teach!!!!!! Luckily, I had been taking Math classes separately under a tutor so I managed to pass but it was rough. This guy would mark off points for using a different method of calculation. There are many ways to solve math problems not just one.
Respect for him still teaching, interesting lectures and challenging coursework
My name is Lee. Any classmates joining class with me would agree that it is the worst professor you ever met.especially during summer semester
Definitely not one of the best professors at Chabot College, but he cares about teaching. Curves the tests according to the test average. Overall challenging.
One of the worst math professors I've ever had. He treats his students like they're still in high school and gets upset if they are on the laptop, even if it is during the break he gives. Very lecture heavy with very little time in class for questions and genuinely does not care if you understand the material or not. Good luck taking his class.
I took Calculus before this so the difficulty level wasn't a problem. He was previously a high school teacher so expect the class to feel like that. Do ALL of the homework then you don't have to worry too much about your test scores especially since he curves them anyway. If this is your first Calc class, then get comfortable learning from Youtube.
Most slay professor (literally, friends and I call him "Naslayri"). A bit strict, but SO unintentionally funny. Extensions if you ask and participate in class; sit at front, stay engaged, bring notebook. Clarifies concepts, but gets upset when students unfamiliar w/ Alg/Trig concepts. Stories about kids/grandkids/HS teacher days pretty interesting.
Good teaching skills! Even if you are not familiar with pre-calculus, he will teach you with calculus.
This professor was extremely difficult to understand and when explaining the work would often get mad when someone was on a computer even though some people like taking notes online. When doing work on the projector he would often cold call and would seem to get upset rather than help and explain when someone said the wrong answer.
i beg u do not take nasiris class you will regret it he does not explain well, he gives outrageous amount of homework, he isnt nice all what he does is yell yell and yell i might fail this class and have to take it again during the sring semester cause i hate this class so much do not take him i repeat do not take him.
this professor is just awful.
Professor Nasiri shows a clear understanding of mathematics, but he is not a good teacher. Does not explain material properly, and gets mad at students for asking questions. If you take any of his courses, please ensure you are good at math in order to not fall super behind. He calls out bad grades, putting students down. Do not recommend.
The old man is a traditional teacher who does not skip steps during lecture and is slow-paced. He criticizes students for slacking, and many students cannot handle his critique. If your skin is not thick then look for another teacher. You can see his passion for math, and he is a CARING teacher as long as you respect his time and efforts back
I took his summer class and overall he was not good at explaining material. He did provide when asked but was very aggressive with his explanations if asked for further clarification. He also is very 'my way or the high way' when it comes to test grading, if you don't do it how he taught in class prepare to be marked down.
He is a very old man, he is very decent at explaining and has a good understanding of math. He does give a lot of homework and the class is test heavy. Although, I go to class to learn. He does make sure to explain the concept throughly. He is a bit of a tough grader, although the reason for my current bad grade is due to my lack of math knowledge.
This professor gives a lot of homework, and is a tough grader. He also likes giving a lot of tests and quizzes.
I saw this kid in a Gray Jacket who is going through some really tough times, and the teacher awfully undergraded him. Well, his tantrum was a bit off the rails. But, I still feel bad for the kid. He doesn't deserve a 33 out of 100, he clearly put a lot of effort and the teacher is too harsh with grading. He also gives too much homework.
He knows the subject well but his teaching/grading methods are not it. He's strict with grading but I can barely understand his lectures, he's also cramming all of them so quickly! I had to survive through YouTube. He also doesn't like it when you don't do it the way he taught it. One of my classmate had a mental breakdown which was handled poorly.
