only thing we don't like is his Biiig beard; else he is an excellent instructor
No Comments
Very helpful ... makes learning fun!
True to his own philosophy: "A teacher is a person who makes things easier" ... and FUN, too. Too sexy without his beard!
Great man! Makes discussions very lively, informative and fun. Made me to start think and not just cram formulae and theories etc.
Easy & Fun. Don't take me wrong; he is really a good teacher and imparts lot more knowledge than other 'Hard' teachers. Always caring for the students without compromising the quality.
needs to refine his accent a little bit --- Tries to give the concept first in an easy and stylish way and puts the burden of 'hard' stuff afterwards. RECOMMENDED!!*&(*^#(
Wow! For the first time I learned something in a lab was from him; others are just time passers. very facetious & easy going (& sexy, too; but, doesn't F u citing some law that doesn't allow teachers to F students).
Ah! FUN!!! Seldom saw people teaching while keeping students' interest in the lecture thru various means --- jokes, challenges, etc.
made the dry and boring subject fun to learn
No comparison with other Tutors!
he taught us in spring'03. we found him very caring sensitive to students needs. he does his best to help you without compromising the quality. helds extra help sessions. makes sure you are well-prepared before the exam.
I agree with all +ve comments in this page!
I am an exchange student and am impressed by all the teachers and TAs here. Esp. Ahmad is good in making difficult concepts understand using simple analogies --- BUT, he is not sexy as someone has wrote here (may be :(
we nominated him for the Distinguished Teaching Award
I hav nominated him for best teaching award --- we will listen abt the result in 2 weeks
I was in MOT@Distance from 2000-2003. I recall his comments, reinforcements, and critiques on our Human-Computer Interaction work back in Spring'2000. He has got a fabulous imagination and very creative mind.

he taught us 3 times during last 2 yrs --- finally, he has be rewarded for his efforts on us officially, too --- he has received the Distinguished Teaching Award on our recommendation
hats off for the distinguished teaching award recipient - a first in 5 yrs from faculty of engg. in UW
quite tought in terms of standards. but always available and helpful in reducing the anxiety level through extra tutorial sessions
very creative and helpful
a clear differnce b/w him and other tutors. we love him. we nominated him for teaching award twice. luckily, he will be teaching us again next term.
made the boring engg conomics very interesting. Full of Fun & Energies
Didn't know CCTS & Instrumentation course had so much for us to learn until he took charge. Well! All lab labor suddenly started making sense. Made us think for more than just marks
relaxed and interesting teaching style. emphasizes more on concepts than manual work. says that 'if u can learn concepts well then you can do the rest easily --- whenever u want to'. looks very 'hot' when he comes with his head freshly shaved
u can see a sharp difference b/w him and other tutors. he made the boring subj very interesting by connecting all pedantic concepts with the real life issues
taught more in 2 weeks than what other TAs taught in 12 weeks (fun & learn kinda guy)
I prefer to have ahmad in my course
I can testify that he is very very caring about students. I am a severe case of ADHD and he recognized it. He convinced me to consult Dr. Syed. Now, I get much needed extra time for finishing my exams. he has done many similar personal favours to others.
ah! boring lectures and interesting tutorials.
made us take interest in lab work and reflect on what we are doing in the lab
you will enjoy - fun&learn
He taught us in CCTS/Instrumentation course and impressed us so much that we nominated him for the teaching award. Now, he is teaching us Engineering Economics and we are amazed that he has such good grasp of economics conceots, too.
I like his frank and open style of providing feedback.
Amzing & Amusing!
taught me orgnizational behv. 2 years back. quite articulated. knows how to adapt teaching style to match the audience. very enthusiastic.

he taught us in several diverse courses. showed same enthusiasm and grasp of course material in all. I'm stymied. Is he a good actor? anyways, he's good for us.
this organizational behaviour and structure course made me think in different (and, certainly better) manner.
the best I ever got (I never saw a good one @ UW)

quite frank. does not know diplomacy. real life analogies and metaphors are his strength. needs to improve accent a bit
Made me think in a different manner. Now, I understand and deal with behavioural issues more effectively.
good use of real life instances for strange concepts
we miss him since he conducted the last tutorial class (others are just ok and we are told that we won't see him again in this term). he uses very simple examples to elaborate complex concepts. good use of humour in class. very prompt in giving detailed replies to e-mail queries
Why not Prof. Birkett makehim a full-TA responsible for offering tutorials and make other TAs do the grading job?
We miss him after his first lecture delivered to us. Other tutors are not as good. Enthusiastically roams around in the class while teaching, making anyone sleeping to wake up automatically :)
easy going and helpful
Very enthusiastic and entertainting. We always found him better than all others. Probably, his past teaching experience has something to with it
good communicator. teaches so enthusiastically that it gets hard to let your mind go astray. real life analogies makes things easier to graspe.
good sense of humour. keeps me instrested in what boring course we have to take against our will.
Energetic style of teaching. Makes student feel important while answering questions. accentuated but clearly understandable english.
very quick in responding to your e-mails.
very easy way of teaching and keeping students intersted in his lectures. I wish prof. keep going abroad often during this term,
Best among half-dozen TA in this course. Tries to make sure you know what you are doing in the lab. Facetious personality makes us feel comfortable communicating with him. If you want to get best out of him then keep telling him your concerns.

speaks a bit fast
very enthsiastic style of teaching. confident and helpful. gives detailed replies to emails.
he looks like a copy of prof. Basir in his enthusiasm and ability to engender positive spirit
we enjoy whenever he is responsible for lectures or labs. why didn't prof. made him the 'Lecturing TA' and others responsible for labs only
miss him
Managerial Economics sucks!!! but, seniors told me that with Abdul it is a fun subject. that's what we also felt based on our ewxperience with him in other courses. alas! he has not been assigned to this course this year.
Good to have him. Make sure to attend his lectures and tutorials. You will enjoy those.
taught me to think differently
initially, I hated the topic but he generated a lot of interest for the subject
common use of common sense analogies
interesting person. you will enjoy his approach to teaching.
boring subjects. involve too much mathematics. interesting person, makes lectures enjoyable. but, all joy evaporates when you pick up textbooks. exams are doable
already gone. I wish others also had the same level of enthusiasm that always motivated us.
Really inspirational time with him and mao. made me see software more than just coding (now I keep my users in my mind)
He taught us how to connect theory to practice. Earlier, lectures were just for numerical problem solving and labs were implementing the CCT diagram given to us without knowing why various components are included in the CCT
very entusiastic about teaching. genuinely takes interest in students
Takes interest in his teaching and in his students. Puts real efforts in making course interesting to students. But, a history major student like me cannot be motivated much about operations and strategic management. Went extra mile to help my friend when myfriend faced a persoanl trauma.
I am taking his MIS course in Laurier. He taught me Engineering Economics in UW a couple of yrs ago. He is still the same enthusiastic guy who can make boring stuff look very interesting and lively. I wish he stayed in UW.
He is our dept's alumnus but so much involved in mentoring us that many of us nominated him for the Alumnus of the Year Award. We hope he will be formally recognized for his self-less efforts towards raising the profileof his alta mater
good start of the course. He seems to be a nice person. I hope he will be also be nice when it comes to marking/grading. Prof. Ahmad please know that in past the average in this course had been 75%
he really cares about his teaching and about his students. I only found a handful of profs like him.
I joined the University of Waterloo in 2008 and Dr. Ahmad is supervising my PhD research. So far, I have found him very approachable and helpful person. He encourages me to think independently of him and come up with creative solutions. Very patient with my lakc of knowledge in the area.
laid back approach to teaching
Friendly and approachable
This prof is incomprehensable. He is not a good lecturer. His teaching style is tough and incomplehnsable for most lower year students.
extremely helpful an friendly
loved to ask questions in class and used current affairs examples (amazing that he used current affairs examples to make me understand engineering concepts)
he will make sure you succeed
I really like this professor. Even though she has an accent, you can still see the passion in how she teaches. If i could take her for every Criminal Justice course i would. One of the best teachers at CSUB !!!!!
I had a love-hate relationship with this prof for most of the semester. Still, it ended up on a positive note. He is inspirational but also demanding. Come prepared for the "flipped classroom" (readings at home and project/assignments in the classroom). Very knowledgeable and highly creative.
In every class, he used some recent high-profile event as an example to explain the course concepts. I am really amazed by the fact that the example almost always comes in response to someone's question. Which means he basically came up with that connection / example with then and there. How come?
Very easy going and entertaining style of teaching in a course that, I thought, would have been a boring CompSc type course. He spends the very last lecture to inculcate in our minds the limitations of all fantastic things we learned for 13 weeks and the value of our intuition and judgement in effectively using all concepts in real problems.
lovely experience learning from him
