Nice guy, tests are ok. Goto class and take notes.
Best GEO professor, never miss any class because he will take attendance occationally. The attendance counts for 10%. Read the text and his slides...sure can score A.
Great Prof. One midterm exam, One final group presentation and one final exam..few videos we watched and got few % for attending..besides that no problems..
go to every class. pay attention. read slides and the text book. will get atleast a B+
ONE OF THE BEST PROFS AT RYERSON! will give u some of the answers on the midterm lol, really funny, and he doesnt even try to be funny! will give you marks really easy if u go talk to him, not much homework or assignments.
Best Upper Liberal course I took by far! The prof makes this course interesting with his sense of humor, and also gives us hints what to expect for midterms, essays, and final exams. You must attend class since he doesn't post notes online. Concentrate only on the notes as the book is not used often. B+ is obtainable if you work hard!
Negatives= ALOT OF NOTE TAKING.. Positves= my arms are now huge
very hard midterm. puts random questions on exam. nice professor, post slides on blackboard, and really expands on material in lecture. Two test and one term project which is easy
I don't know why ppl would think he's fun... to me, the class is kinda boring... lots of notes taking!! just memorize the concept of terms for the MT. some questions are random. just guess, I think that's fun for him.
midterm=hard, final=hard. This class is very boring if your not into geography, would highly avoid this guy. Puts random questions on his tests.
dont take this class PERIOD.
He's a hard marker, he expects you to learn everything about physical geography, such as stuff not mentioned in class or on the textbook. I advise anyone looking for a Lower Liberal to not take hes class. This should be a Higher liberal class.
Attending class is mandatory.Studying the textbook along with the class notes will guarantee you an A.
My group had questions regarding the group assignment, questions were avoided and told differently by him. Final exam was hard, the material mostly had nothing to do with the ones covered in class or in the textbook. NEVER TAKE THIS if you're looking for a good mark. If you're good at taking good long notes than probally take it. If not aviod it!
Very easy liberal. come to class, take notes and minimal studying gets u an A.
This course is extremely difficult. Notes taken in class has nothing to do with the midterms. Puts random questions, and it is very hard to succeed in this course!Be careful!
All his content comes from his in-class material/powerpoint slides. He doesn't post lecturers so be prepared to take notes on everything. I found his class hard because his exams often had question's you'd never seen before. In reality most people miss most of what he says, and that's exactly the content that will end up on the exam.
Best prof. He is smart and teaches well.
Dr Aryee exposed me to the diversities and complexities of different cultures in numerous countries. My grade was good.
If you need a good mark, do not enroll with this prof. You need to bring gambling dice for the exams because the questions are pulled out of a hat.
Pretty nice guy. Go to class, take tons of really good notes cause most of the test questions originate from what he says in class.
Just write down EVERYTHING he says because his tests are mostly from his lectures (textbook wasn't really helpful) and they sometimes contain random questions like a statistical fact he may have mentioned. Attend classes as there are participation marks. Final exam for me was M/C & essay format, but topics were given beforehand so you can prepare.
he is very unclear and can not teach.
The lectures may have been a bit dry, but the course was easy for an upper liberal! Dr. Aryee says a lot of material that is on tests in class, so be sure to write it down. Tests are easy if you study! I didn't find attendance mandatory, but it helped to come because he would point out what is important and what you need to know. Nice & funny man!
very nice man !
Can't understand his accent, doesn't speak loud enough and puts tricky questions on exams where it's pretty evident he doesn't want us to do well. Midterms and Final were both hard. Avoid.
he's funny and has an accent. helpful. attendance marks and tests mostly based off the stuff taught in class. good at drawing landscapes.
Always incorporates humour into the classes to make it more enjoyable! Sometimes his accent can be a bit thicker but adds to the fun! Great artist, great humour, great class!
Attending his lectures are mandatory if you want to do well on the exams, because many of the questions are based on his lectures AND the textbook readings. Great professor, really funny and keeps things interesting.
He is not a very helpful teacher. If you have a question and you ask him, he most likely don't know the answer too. His lectures are taken from someone else and he won't post any powerpoints online because he said it's the "geography department policy". So you must go to class and take notes. It's hard to take notes while he talks at the same time.
I dont get the hate for this guy hes a really good prof. The thing with this course was that you had to either attend class and write down what he says or study from the textbook. He even posted the slides, and Midterm and exam were both all multiple choice and very easy. Essay was easy too and I finished with an A- with next to no effort.
Great guy, good humoured. Often goes off on tangents but you should still take notes if he repeats something strongly, because he asks random stuff on the exams. Multiple choice. Not marked on attendance, but he does say many things not on slides. Lots of information. Not a bird course. If you're not into the subject, you're liable to be very bored
His test questions are rather random like names of theorists and specific #s. He isn't helpful with answering questions in his emails. His classes are not hard but are not necessarily easy either. He's not a hard marker for essays. There are much worse profs and classes. He is nice as he offers job references only if you attend class.
Definitely will not recommend this professor at all. Has terrible communication skills and most of the lecture content is never tested on. He just blabs on with no purpose. Unfortunately attendance counted so you had to attend class. Course itself has easy content just a lot of memorizing. Probably the worst professor I have ever had.
Took this as an easy elective. Teacher is nice & funny but most people who aren't African won't get his humour, but if you do its hilarious. He takes 40 minutes to talk about 1 lecture slide, which is annoying. But everything on the slides is straight frm the textbook, so is the test (all MC). Get the textbook for this course! Easy A if you study!
I would not recommend this professor at all. He is blash blash too much and not make interactive or easy class. Who is not in science o environment filed its really hard to understand the topics. His two tests are MCQ and horrible .. Only GOD knows where those questions come from. According to him all come from books and powerpoint.
This wasn't a course with hard content but he definitely jammed alot of content into one semester. The midterm and final were both MC but had detailed questions. His lectures are basically straight from the textbook so reading the textbook to confirm the facts made it easy. He's specific with his essays and you have to answer it his way to do well.
Not consistent with the content (i.e. giving the class different dates for the same thing throughout the lesson), presented with absolute monotony, and of course looking to insert some of his politics here and there as if anyone cared. But I am not surprised, that's today's university for you.
This guy is hilarious. One of the easiest courses I have taken. He recommends the textbook but I just went to class and took notes. The exams are really easy, just read the notes a few times. Theres one essay that's fairly easy. One of the easiest A I have gotten.
A little boring, but he's a super knowledgeable and caring professor. I learned a lot about cities from across the world.
Everything said in class and on his lecture slides is fair game. Textbook was not needed at all. Just attend ALL of his lectures, take down what he says, and read over the notes a few times. He will repeat and emphasize points for the tests. Test questions are not tricky, you either know it or you don't as it is just a matter of memorizing.
Don't take this course if you're looking to pass easily. He's a tough grader and his exams are TOO specific. Notes are extremely mandatory otherwise you won't pass. I would not recommend this class unless it seems interesting to you.
If you're taking this class caue you need an easy elective don't do it. The slides aren't helpful, you have to attend every class and take notes. He can spend an entire class on one slide. Tough tests, the questions are tough, and the current wssay is tough. Stay clear from this course.
This prof's lectures are painful. Tediously slow explanations, muddled with a thick accent. The accent wouldn't be a problem if he wrote slides. Instead, his slides are a few bullet points that even a google search can't help you with. Provides dozens of readings. Midterm was straight out of nowhere. Also had an essay and group presentation. Awful.
If you don't attend lectures you will not pass. He throws so much information at us so fast I find it impossible to keep up during his lectures! The slides do not help by any means, they're very unorganized, he'll write random words in them while he's talking. He's very educated on what he's teaching, he's just not good at teaching it.
Terrible prof, miss class you won't pass. Lectures are a mess and multiple choice tests are all over the place.
He doesn't seem like he knows anything. He goes on rants and can never stay in the same mind thought. So when you're writing notes, they're never in line. He gives a very low effort to help you out. The test and assignments are also super confusing. I'm a straight A student and almost failed his course cause he's that bad at teaching.
A really nice person but probably one of the worst professors I've ever had. His instructions were so unclear and his lectures were boring and disorganized. He clearly knows his stuff but he's terrible at teaching it. I regret taking this class.
Best Professor! Very knowledgeable and effective teacher. The course covers difficult topics like Measuring sustainability, life cycle assessment, environmental impact assessment, urban metabolism analysis etc. The professor takes his time to explain things clearly and patiently. He is very good at teaching and answering our questions.
Lot to learn. Prof exposed me to global dangers I didn't know before. Well taught course but lots of information. He is very down to Earth and funny.
His powerpoints are useless
Thought he would be okay in the beginning but no. His content and class are so dry and boring that even after 9 hours of sleep I wanted to pass out. Does not post his powerpoints which is annoying because he posts it for other classes. Not everything on his exams are from the powerpoints (class is mandatory to get information)
Horrible in ever aspect. I attended ever class, took notes, and read the textbook and i was still unable to do well on his tests. Quizzed on material we never learned and major concepts covered that we spent amble time on in class were not tested. Does not respond to emails and is extremely unhelpful. I will NEVER take a class with him again.
Truly awful prof, not organize anything. I did not miss any minute of his class and when I got the exam, I fell like I am at the wrong classroom. He knows what he is talking about, and he is also THE ONLY ONE knows. Changing the exam content all the time, first one is about book, second one back to lecture, never know what's on his mind.
Powerpoints are filled with pics and 1 word statements. He explains the stuff in class so you need to attend to take notes (+ there is 10% in attendance marks). He will say random words so you need to be paying attention or you wont know what the word means. only 3 tests, non cumulative so it wasnt bad, The test had irrelevant content though. GL
It is mandatory to go to class since his ppt are completely useless because it is very disorganized and has lack of information. He mentions a lot of significant definitions in class that is not on the ppt that shows up on the test so you definitely have to pay attention, however it is very hard to understand him cause of his thick accent.
Follow the readings in the textbook that is assigned. You honestly just need to know the definitions of terms that he brings up in class or are relevant to your unit and important facts from the movie he shows you. You will definitely get an A+. His exams are so easy, I loved this course. He has a heavy accent but if you're respectful you'll do gr8
His powerpoints lack detail, and the things he says in class are usually random facts and numbers that he expects you to have memorized for the exams. This is not a grade 9 geography course, don't take it if you're looking for an easy liberal.
extremely great prof and easy prof. Easy class to get an A+
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!! I was looking for an easy way to maintain my GPA in my electives. THIS WAS NOT IT. Extreme amount of effort was required to pay attention in his long, heavy, and extremely boring lectures. His slides are half empty, and he verbally describes most of the topics. He is a nice guy, but prepare to fail his ridiculous exams...
Professor Aryee doesn't teach the material well and his slides are unorganized. He is a hard marker and his tests are ridiculous. He asks you specific 'trivia like' questions rather than applicable and general knowledge. His lectures are filled with pointless details and he isn't a nice person. Avoid him when choosing classes.
This man is the epitome of ridiculous when it comes to his tests and assignments. Assignment outlines were unclear. His tests are filled with "trivia" like questions: questions where the answers are NOT taught in class or found in the textbook. Also very dry and boring during lectures. Worse prof and experience with a mandatory course ever.
He is the worst prof I've ever had. Can't teach to save his life, never answers emails, extremely unfair evaluations, and he's one of the rudest people I've ever met. Avoid him like the plague. Do yourself a favour and do NOT take his classes.
He is the worst prof i have ever had in my life.
he is the worst
Boring, difficult to understand
Best Professor Ever. He encourages hard work and marks are based on merit. Attendance classes and the course is easy as ABC. I enjoyed this course.
He knows his stuff. I have learnt a lot from Prof Aryee's teaching. You never get bored in his class because he always has something funny to say. I recommend this class to anyone who is interested in learning above high school Geography.
Lots of material , but all straightforward I actually found him to be funny!
The operation of the course was disorganized and unclear. Feedback was not timely at all (only had 1 grade back by the time of the second midterm). Extremely difficult to get in touch with him - rarely answers emails, and when he does he is very dismissive and unhelpful. Required assistance from my program director to even complete this class.
Amazing prof! just need to take notes on everything he says in class and you'll get 100%.
READ THIS Pros: No textbook, very nice guy! Cons: Literally I went to every class and the test had nothing to do with what he said. Even jotted down so many notes. You must attend his lectures because the slides are just pictures. Tests: Bruh, his tests are like "What does Angkor Wat mean?". Questions that were never touched upon in class.
literally the worst prof ever at ryu. hes a nice guy but such a bad prof! his slides only contain pictures and 0 content that you need to know. 99% of the content he says are random facts and you have to write it all down or ur done. his midterm was so hard and he expects you to rmb everything he says. class avg for midterm was 57 if u get him DROP
Amazing prof if you have him ur lucky, he's a super nice guy and always there if you need help. Idk why people r complaining, if you go to class and take some notes you'll be fine. He's also an easy marker for all the projects. I'm gonna make sure I try taking his courses.
Nice prof and teaches concepts with clear explanations relevant to the exam contents. However, he ONLY delivers the course content verbally, so you must attend class and take notes quickly as he speaks.
Horrible worst prof in RY im in my last year and he wins the award for being the worst
This Prof can bring you anxiety. His lectures are very slow paced, he repeats sentencs and phrases that make you wonder if its worth writing down and most of the time the things he repeats does not match the powerpoint. He does not give exam reviews nor explains what will be on a test so you oretty much have to study what you feel is most imporant.
WORST PROFESSOR I'VE EVER HAD. While he is a nice man and seems knowledgable in what he teaches, his lectures will put you to sleep because they're so BORING. His instructions and grading criteria are extremely vague as well as his slideshows so you MUST go to class and write down all of the random things he says that he'll usually only say once.
For a lower liberal that's supposed to be a bird course, he really makes you work for a good mark. His slides are vague so you'd have to go to class to write down whatever he adds but his lectures are extremely slow and boring. A tough grader too so he's not worth it.
Honestly the worst prof I've ever had at Ryerson. HE'S NOT HELPFUL OR CONSIDERATE AT ALL. His lectures put you to sleep and his tests are killer.
this prof is super boring. abednego is really nice but his teaching is not good. you have to show up to class and take notes on what hes saying because his powerpoints consist only pictures. an 11 slide powerpoint can take the full 3 hours of class. his tests arent hard but make sure you study from good notes in order to do well
Terrible prof STAY AWAY. Contradicted himself constantly during lectures. Slides looked like they were done by an elementary school student and contained no actual useful information. If you do still take his class just memorize everything in the textbook. It's your best chance. 0/10
Boring lectures. Boring character. Hands down the worst professor I have ever had.
STAY AWAY FROM THIS PROFESSOR. He does not care about you as a student (do not be fooled by the few good comments he has as he wrote it himself). Super hard to learn Geographic terms/names when covered in a THICK accent. Take RAYMOND GARRISON instead!!
if you have him for online school, drop out ASAP. Even though he gives videos for you to watch, it sucks. The slides are mainly pictures so you actually have to watch the videos and listen to them. His mic quality is so bad and some words he can't even say properly. no subtitles too.
He is the worst professor ever, stay away! He posts a set of powerpoint slides once a week with a voice over. The slides do not contain any useful information at all. He has a very thick accent very hard to understand. He does not care about his students at all. Stay away if you want to learn something!
While an easy marker his lectures are very dry. The midterm was heavily lecture-focused so making sure you can stay awake during his lectures is mandatory. The essay for the course as well as the weekly participation were fair and not too challenging, clear grading scheme but a little confusing. I recommend another professor who is more engaging.
This guy has no idea what he's talking about! Seems so confused. The lectures are boring and useless. Don't take this course!
Do not take this professor! He is such a terrible professor. His accent is SO THICK, it is actually hard to understand him. He barely even replied to any of his emails throughout the whole semester. He is unprofessional. he took over a month to give back our essays. And he is an extremely unfair marker. His responses to the essays makes no sense.
His accent is really heavy and hard to understand. Especially when introducing new geographical terms. He posted lecture videos, with minimal notes in his powerpoints. Must watch lecture videos and make notes in order to do well. Only a midterm, assignment, and final exam. He conveys 95% of course information in lecture videos which are not in PPs.
Hands down the worst professor ever. Aside the fact that he can' type properly or write proper English in his lectures, they are full of errors and make no sense. Very disrespectful over email, doesn't recognize student needs and exemptions if applicable due to covid online classes. Please if you can read this, resign and become a preschool teacher
(Online) Responds to emails quickly. Grading is okay for the assignment but his exams have rarely anything to do with his lecture slides or what he says. His slides consist of mainly pictures and a few words as he says everything in an audio recording. He talks quite fast in his audio recording and has strong accent but is understandable.
If you are going to take this course with the intention it's a bird course, congratulations you played yourself. The only way to get any decent mark is to literally transcribe what he says word for word (his powerpoints are useless), and then somehow memorize all of it; on top of his thick accent, which makes it impossible to understand key terms.
The worst prof Ive ever had. Slides are useless, need to listen to hour-long lecture recordings to do well. Steer clear of this prof for your sanity.
COVID Edition: IF YOU TAKE GEO110 WITH THIS PROF AS 'BIRD COURSE' YOU ARE WRONG. Please switch ASAP and save your life. This prof has a thick accent that makes it really difficult to understand (audio), long lectures, only pictures on his ppt slides, doesn't give assignment feedback, the exam is not even related to the content taught in class.
I took this course thinking it was a "bird course" but with him IT IS NOT! His lectures are just of him talking without any pictures or subtitles! His powerpoints are so useless and at times he speaks so fast i had to pause every 3 seconds just to take notes down! The midterm and final were very specific and hard! Drop geo110 if you get him!
Terrible replier, lectures are hard to understand (thick accent), which makes his exams much harder than usual, I think I was lucky to get a B.
Super Honest review here! I got straight A's this semester with courses that were technically difficult. I took this class as a BIRD COURSE and I got a B while studying at least 3-5 hours PER WEEK on this class. The essay was graded very harshly, his lectures are okay but hard to understand, the tests were extremely strange/random.
This term, he's doing pre-recorded lectures. His audio has background noise and he has a thick accent. I kept rewinding the audio tryna figure out what he's saying because his slides are terrible. I sent him an email asking for a transcript - he said no and told me "If this is an issue for you, please feel free to enroll in another class"
RUDEST prof ever. Never take his class. Cannot even properly give instructions to students. Have to agree on the fact that he posted a good rating himself. Ryerson has so many amazing profs, which i cannot say about this one. Made the worst choice by taking his class.
Terrible lectures, tough to understand accent, useless PowerPoints, boring lectures, I can go on and on. Stay away.
I was really disappointed in this course. The test had a lot of random questions which weren't only the readings nor lecture. The prof posted a list of testable material, however, the material which wasn't listed was also tested. I was hoping for the best but instead my GPA dropped bc this course, please don't take it if you can avoid this course!
He is NOT a good professor. His essay outline made no sense. he didn't even give us a rubric or any guidelines to follow. He will screw you over. DO NOT take this class with him.
stay away from this professor at all costs.
HORRIBLE professor. so unorganized and he lacks communication skills. STAY away from him.
the ABSOLUTE WORST professor you could end up with. He's rude, disrespectful, unkind, and overall a terrible teacher - genuinely wonder why he pursued teaching if he is so terrible to his student. 0 interaction in online class, only long, dry, hard to follow pre-recorded lectures. DROP ANY CLASS YOU HAVE WITH HIM HE IS THE WORST. mean. uncaring.
Genuinely one of the least caring and unprofessional profs Ive ever had. No help outside class, doesn't care about students, generally not a good prof. Would recommend literally anyone else
The course has been going for 2 months. Nobody in the class has received a mark back. We have done 5 labs and a midterm. Nobody knows if they have an F or an A. Stay away.
The material is dry so I think that's why his lectures are, his slides don't require much info so you need to watch the full vids. Midterm & exercises are easy if you study. The class requires focus and work. Imo not as bad as other ppl are saying- but there hasn't been much interaction so idk if he is mean or not
Not great, but not the worst. Unengaging lectures, watching them requires a lot of discipline. He takes a while to post marks, but the material is fairly easy
Having a hard time with the lectures and engaging throughout class. I feel like it is mostly up to you to do the readings and go through lectures, very minimal engagement with the prof. I do wish that there were subtitles for the lectures instead of playing the lecture multiple times to fully understand which makes me lose interest in overall.
You're going into the final only knowing the marks you got for 35% of the course. The other 65%? He simply does not give feedback on it, and when asked for feedback, he takes a week to respond to. Expect no help from him. If you want to do well in this course, pick someone else or a diff course. Make a study group if you want an 80% avg.
PowerPoints are so bad Ive made better ones in my Grade 3 geo class. If you dont transcribe his notes word for word, you will fail. He asks the most specific questions on exams. No engagement with students. He replies with condescending emails. If you had the option to drink bleach or take this course, take the bleach.
This course made me feel like I was sleeping on a-bed-of-lego.
if i could give a lower rating than a 1 i would. This is the worst proff I've ever had, the fact he charges money for this is beyond me. uses terrible, unclear slides. no engagement. asks hyper specific questions on tests. words his questions with double negatives that are difficult to understand. genuinely don't know how hes still an educator.
I took GEO793 thinking it was going to be an easy elective and wanted to lighten my workload, but boy was I wrong. The profs ppts were so boring and heavy, he just read from the whatever notes he had for 1-2 hours straight. Keep in mind these lectures were prerecorded. Also his exams were super hard, a lot of the material wasnt even covered.
The midterm and final were difficult, the questions were trivial rather than conceptual so you have to have the most detailed notes ever. Lectures were prerecorded, slides were confusing and un-engaging. Took a while to post marks and he does not sound passionate abt the topics at all
He marks everything unnecessarily hard and with no explanation whatsoever, got no feedback on my essay or other weekly exercises. Midterm and final had questions that were not covered in the lectures or readings. I would've dropped it if it wasn't a required course
Avoid this professor because the mid term and final test are rather confusing and especially the questions found on the test is more trivial based question you would expect in a game show . Alot of questions found on the test werent even covered from his pre recorded lecture (powerpoint all pictures and u have to listen carefully for notes )
He is a horrible professor. Midterm and exam is based heavily on what he said during the lectures. Most minuscule stuff like a percentage of x would be a question (something that he didn't even briefly go over). Horrible lecture videos. Slow talker... VERY SLOW.
DONT EVER TAKE HIS COURSE. horrible professor and overall no sympathy for anyone. I would rather stay back a semester than deal with him again.
Prof & Tests are horrid. Based on material that's not even covered in the lecture... horrible lecture videos - makes me want to pull my hair out. I've never hated a course this much in my life. jesus this man does not know how to teach or be a decent human being. He passively answered my questions, making me feel like I'm worthless and stupid.
He took a whole semester to mark an essay. You're marked on a test, an essay and the final exam only. It was a decent class but he wasn't much help.
Lectures are so un-engaging, slides are also confusing looking. He takes literally months to mark and gives absolutely no feedback. Avoid this prof if you can
Horrible professor, the questions that show up in the midterm and final aren't even from the slides or textbook. In the midterm, one question was about anime.... which says a lot about this course. Horrible online
The recorded lectures are really boring and the midterm and final exam have nothing to do with his lectures. Also, the essay questions are very broad and make it hard to understand what he wants. It's a shame since the course should be pretty interesting. Avoid this prof at all costs.
Avoid this prof at all cost.. His lectures are very boring, long and is difficult to understand at times. You have to make sure you write notes that are word for word from what he is saying to actually do well and the midterm and final had stuff we didnt even learn. Its disappointing because this course would have been very interesting.
Good class. I learnt a lot.
Very disrespectful, poor lecture and unclear communication. Never hosts live lecture and speaks poorly (unorganized context plus heavy accent, minimal visuals to follow) on the recording, when I politely asked if he could turn on subtitles in recoding or provide transcript, he told me to drop the course.
He is a good teacher and very knowledgeable. It is easy to pass exams when you study well.
Very strong accent and his recorded lectures are super boring as if he's reading off a script. Also have to write down everything he says cause his slides are basically useless.
He is by far one of the worse professors I've ever had. No live lectures and everything is prerecorded. His lectures are boring, monotone and hard to understand. His instructions are always unclear and does not reply to emails and questions properly. Tests are not related to what he teaches. Useless prof for an interesting course.
First lets start with the fact that he didn't round my 79.5 up to a 80. Second if you're here to see if you should stay in the class I suggest you drop it like its hot. You wont understand his recordings because his accent is too thick, his tests are not based off slides or lectures, and he will take off .5 from your participation for no reason.
I honestly cant lol. I had him in the summer for geo 802 and prayed I wouldn't have him again but just my luck. He's terrible, like the worst of the worst. I can't comprehend why he's still working here. He really just doesn't care about anyone at all. Nothing left to say whoever said he was good is clearly being sarcastic.
WORST PROF EVER IN EVERY IMAGINATIVE WAY, if you are reading this and are still able to drop this course, GO BUY A LOTTERY, since you have prevented an endless misery.
Better chance at beating Seong Gi-Hun in the squid games than you are at passing the course. Should've been an option where all students are able to vote to collectively leave this class lol. Do yourself a favour... run away your'e gonna die
Worst GEO Prof ever. Definitely needs a look in a mirror, wont do anything for you as a student, re-uses all of his lectures and videos. Probably lounging back in the Bahamas for all we know. Passive aggressive lazy prof. If you see him on your schedule, just switch its not worth.
Never seen a prof care less for a course then this man right here. His course outline has not been updated in ages, it was clearly copy and pasted as he failed to remove notes from other Profs in it, his assignment outline is from 2018, clearly the last time he cared to look/update the it. drop/swap ASAP
If I had the chance to drop the course right this second, I'd gladly will. He doesn't care about students and when it comes to midterms the majority of questions are outside of the course material. I thought it was going to be an easy elective but with this professor, it's definitely not so save yourself some time, money and choose a different one.
Do not take any course with this prof. You cant understand anything hes saying in his pre-recorded lectures bc he mumbles & its really bad audio, & when asked, he refuses to help students out when they literally cant understand. The only way to communicate with him is via email, & he takes forever to respond, or doesnt help AT ALL. Worst prof
The one good rating for this prof on this site is 1000% written by the prof himself. Because there is no way that is true. Worst prof I have ever had. Do yourself a favour and run away from any course that has this prof. He's passive aggressive, unorganized, unprofessional, and completely useless.
Absent prof. Smug. Zero help. The worst.
Im all my years of school, I never met a worse prof than this. Its very easy to tell right away that he hates being an educator. I had a few times I needed his help and he was completely rude and useless. I really wish he finds another job, this is not for him. Monotone lectures, tests have nothing to do with the notes or textbook, nothing.
HOW IS THIS PROF MAKING $100K A YEAR... HE IS THE MOST USELESS PROF EVER! NO HELP AND VERY BORING/MONOTONE... A 1 HOUR VIDEO LECTURE TAKES 4-5 HOURS TO MAKE NOTES ON. RYERSON FIRE THIS PROF HE IS THE WORST TEACHER/PROF I'VE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE.
The worst professor I have ever had. His lectures are pre-recorded with a terrible microphone, causing awful rumbling and buzzing. His slides have very minimal information, and he drones on and on with confusing run-on sentences. He also mentions specific locations, landforms, or terminology without including it on the slide. Be careful.
Did not enjoy this class. Professor Abednego Aryee's recordings are low quality which is painful to listen to and they simply read from the textbook in a very monotone way. The lecture is very difficult to follow with run-on sentences and awkward cadence of speech. The course content is basic but could be interesting in another prof's hands
AVOID, JUST AVOID. To be honest, there is no way to prepare for the exams. His lecture videos, lecture ppt, and all other sources he is providing are basically useless. I listened and took notes for all of his lecture videos but I think it only helped like 50% for exams. AVOID.
LECTURE HEAVY! Half of his assessments are based on minuscule facts and data from the lectures that take hours for each note (Write everything from lecs!). He talks for an hour without text, his accent makes it hard to know some words he's saying as they're unfamiliar terms. Time-consuming, not a bird course. Easy 10% participation posts tho
honestly i spend sooooooo much time on this class .... took geo thinking it would be cool to learn about, but nope. it was HELL, i thank god everyday i got a decent grade. if ur takin this course thinking "dw ill work hard and get a good grade, I can do it" YOU WILL REGRET IT just pick a different elective it aint worth the time
Answers assignment Q&A boards well. All reviews below this are true. ACCENTED, which is not his fault, but PPT slides have minimal words. Thus you have to guess+search terms he says. All lectures take 3-4 times longer, badly organized. Exam Q's are all multiple choice on DETAILS, thus prepare for a low or OK grade. Lecture follows TEXTBOOK heavily.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS if you think it'll be a breeze, it's not with this prof. Do not bother doing the readings as none of the readings are tested. audio lectures are brutal to listen to. No way to study for the exam. literally. you get tested on things that are not even in the reading or lecture. does not respond to emails. i could write so much.
With Abednego Aryee, this course instantly becomes 10x harder than you expected. This prof bases his exam questions on his lectures and his slides are so insanely terrible it looks like a middle school student created it. This professor asks the most dumbest questions on his exam, "are Torontonians racist?", this guy is delusional I stg.
Overall, a nice prof and is very clear with what he wants. Discussion questions are very easy and free marks. Honestly, not as bad as people think he is. Just have to put the work in and you will see results.
An absolutely unreasonable professor. He does not understand his students and doesn't even want to. Heavily relies on his boring lectures. He made an interesting course boring. This was supposed to be an elective but because of him, it became a disaster. Do everything you can to NOT get this prof!!!
If you can drop the class better drop it early because there is no value in it. lectures are very boring and have minimal value to the midterm exam because he will give you most questions from the book not from the lecture. the class is poorly formatted and doesn't even push you to learn more. better off not taking it at all.
Don't Take Any Class From This Professor. He don't teach anything He just posting recorded lectures from 5years ago. I didn't learn anything from him. He has a thick accent. I finished the course without knowing what he look like because He only posts Powerpoint videos. I couldn't Understand what he is saying. WORST PROF EVER
Stay away from him. Waste of money for taking his class. Despite of the reviews he still not putting effort to his class! He just want to make money and doesn't want to teach! Ryerson why did you hire this man?
AVOID THIS PROF! NOT KNOWLEDGEABLE SUCH A WASTE YUTE BUCKTEE
Avoid this professor at all costs! His presentation style is one of the worst I have seen, his accent is somewhat understandable but it may take getting used to. His email response is terrible. However, he is a kind professor and does give 10% to attendance where he goes over some questions. Expect to learn 70% of the course by your self. Good luck
drop his course!
Hate to say it but it was a completely uninspired course. He loves to spout facts but no real spark of something inspired. You cannot talk about environmental exploitation without talking about capitalism. Also when you do a presentation it shouldn't be as terribly boring as it is.
Awful! His teaching style is terrible! His presentations have a picture on the slide and he expects you to write everything he says down (speaks fast as well). Horrible experience from this professor. Also, if you are looking for an easy elective this is not it!! Would avoid this professor at all cost! If it wasn't too late I would drop his course!
Worst prof in Ryerson history. If you see his name in the course code just drop it immediately, its not worth it. He expects us to take very detailed notes off his lectures when he could barely even speak English. DROP!! im trying to save yall time. Thanks.
If you pay attention he's really not that bad. He's passionate about his subject and is well-informed. He's surprisingly approachable, friendly, and very accommodating, especially for an older arts professor. Just take somewhat thorough notes of his lectures, and you'll be fine. The tests were easy too for the most part.
Horrible class, I regret taking it. He straight up copies word for word from the textbook with no outside material. He quickly mentions something and that's on the exam, but you hear inverted saucer and the 2008 financial crisis every class and that would never be on the exam. Lectures are extremely boring as he goes through a slide every 10 minute
I don't even know what to say. One of the worst professors I've every had. Very heavy accent. Worst thing for me was his slides. Probably one of the most horrendous slides I have ever seen. Also talks wayyyyy too much. Has very stupid questions on the midterm and final. DO NOT TAKE HIM
Abednego is a very nice man and all, but his slides lack a lot of detail. There is only one thing that he can improve on which is; his slides. Yes, his accent may be hard to understand for others, but you can always talk to him and he will make sure you will get the help you deserve. And also go to his tutorials as they are a free credit.
The class was a bit disorganized I would say, lectures were all over the place so were the exam and midterm. I wouldn't recommend taking this class as it will cost you, your sanity.
Was very hard to understand ckntent in the class and content was much mire difficult than it should have been. Unfortunately came out the class with less than I expected.
GOOFY AH PROF THIS MAN CANT TEACH HE RUSHES THROUGH EVERYTHING NO PATIENCE AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE
Vague lecture slides with no real information, so if you miss a class, good luck. He also doesn't provide support outside of class at all, if you have any questions just ask peers because he is absolutely no help.
literally just talks. His lectures are useless he just reads straight off of the textbook and the lecture slides are just pictures. You are expected to copy down every single word he says but he talks super fast. If you can switch out of this class you should do it whilst you can.
Oh my god. every time I go to this class I remember why I skip it, the lectures are convoluted and confusing. The slides are posted every week (riddled with grammar and spelling errors?), and the readings are all accessible through the library. I got a B on the midterm after studying for 3 days before. He is not engaging, very boring class.
For context, I am a pre-medical student at TMU. I have A+ in all my science classes HOWEVER, this specific class, this specific professor somehow managed to drop my GPA. Not a geo elective that is supposed to be increase GPA dropped mine (somehow I managed A-?). A.V.O.I.D, I am warning you.
Took EUS 301 however, terrible professor, horrendous slides with nothing written on them have to listen to every word he says as it could be material on a test. When asked outside of class for help the professor was extremely rude and just assumed that I had skipped class when I did not. Avoid prof!
His lectures were very clear and concise. All the questions in the exam were from his lectures.
As a person, he is kind but not a good professor. His slides are not informative enough for you to write the test so you have to be there for all the classes and take notes. His accent is very heavy. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND IF YOU WANT EASY A. His assignments were marked way way too strictly for a course.
The absolute worst professor ever! Most of the exam topics were never even taught. 2 profs taught this course and I was so unlucky to get this one. He takes forever to reply to emails and marks the essay insanely hard, his exams are unfair, his lecture slides are useless, and he's a horrible lecturer.
His teaching style is not accessible to all learners, as the majority of his content is provided through audio, and he does not give feedback on the final paper. Additionally, he implements rules after grading, affecting marks. Despite the course not being difficult, I advised you to avoid it for your sanity.
His lectures were pre-recorded and were very hard to get through. He has a strong accent and I couldn't hear him in the lectures because his mic wasn't good. His lecture slides are very bland and hard to understand, you definitely have to look through the textbook to get more info. Tests and paper were not that difficult, pretty fair marker.
He is such an adorable sweet man and I could never bring myself to dislike him but I just wish he recorded his lectures or made the slides more detailed because the midterms and finals have some funky questions ngl
Brother, all the reviews in this forum are absolutely correct, his slides are horrible dont contain enough info for you to write the test. Some questions were completely unrelated to the slides and not even covered in the course. Disorganized as well.
Quite a challenging course, but unstuck AI was a lifesaver for study prep. Lectures can be hit or miss - some are clear, others quite disorganized. Textbook is essential. Overall, a fair but tough class - put in the work and you'll likely do well.
Not a geography class at all despite being a GEO course. The professor has poor writing skills which is a big problem and can cause a lot of confusion. The midterm had material that was either not brought up in class or in the readings, and was riddled with grammar errors. Class is pretty easy overall but not worth the effort.
There are little concepts/theories to study so it makes writing the midterm and final ambiguous. He leaves out major concepts from his slides pretty much forcing you to show up and write everything he's saying. But wait… you can't even take in what he's saying because of his thick accent. Just making a course harder for the sake of being hard.
This professor is the worst ever taken, terrible grader, make the course super hard for no reason, terrible teaching, and in the final exam he'd ask insane stuff from slides that you'd never imagine he'd ask. Avoid at all cost doesn't matter how much work you'll put in he'll grade you terribly.
He discusses testable info outside of slides+ they lack clarity without his explanations. Take notes on wtv he says. All MC tests but many confusing q's & hard to prioritize what to study for exam since all post-midterm content is fair game. Extensions only granted through ACR. Some weeks were very jargon heavy and I had to teach myself after.
This professor was one of the worst lecturers I've ever had. He stands at the front of the class and mumbles super quietly. Midterm and exam have no relation to any of the content discussed in class. When I reached out to this professor for help, he was extremely rude and condescending in his emails. I would never take a course with him again.
There was content in the discussion posts and the midterms that did not appear anywhere in the course content, lecture or textbook. Discussion questions were not really connected to the weekly lecture and the midterm completely blindsided me. I studied the textbook and the lectures and am usually an A student. I should've dropped.
Dr. Aryee is a dry speaker, which is unfortunate because you can tell he cares greatly about the topics in Geography of Toronto. His tone and speaking speed, along with text-only slides, makes it difficult in a 3 hour lecture to keep attention focused. He cares a lot, gives good feedback on the essay and exam, but the course was hard.
requested me to hand in essay as a physical copy and then LOST my paper and give me a zero
Course content is not too difficult but negative experience communicating with the professor over email - quite rude
Interesting and amazing course, great professor! His exam questions are more likely from discussion during lectures. So, better to go to the lectures if you want good grades!
