He is a very hard professor and his teaching style is very hard to understand. If you miss one day of class, you are that far behind. I would recommend to avoid him if possible, otherwise go for it, if you are up for the challenge.
One of the hardest profs I've had at BSU. Also one of the best. I learned a lot.
He was intimidating and got mad at people or just glared at them for walking into class even a minute late. His notes were organized, though, and he wrote down everything on the board. He doesn't take attendance, but I wouldn't recommend skipping class. His exams are challenging but not impossible.
This prof made me cry! He was awful and his tests were even worse than that! He ridiculed his students and after i took the final I thanked my lucky stars i'd never have to see him again!

Clearly on a power trip. Spends a lot of time yelling at students. I have been out of school for 6 years and I registered for a login to this site just so I could rate this guy. He is a very mean individual. I was/am a good student and his class is the only one I failed. I retook the class from another professor and received a B- (and learned).
I had him twice at BSU. He was very challenging but knew his material and taught it well. He was intimidating but only to those that slacked off or showed up late, which he thought was disrespectful. I feel better off having had him as a prof.
Very hard teacher although I have never had a profesor at BSU that knew as much as this man. His class involves a lot of reading and if you dont keep up with the notes and readings in the book you are bound to fail his class. He is a nice teacher as long as you dont piss him off.. Dont come to class late or you will see his angry side..

He is a very challenging teacher, but he was able to communicate the material far more clearly than the other professor I had for the class that I nearly failed. He was never disrespectful to students unless they came in late which he looked greatly down upon. And even then, if you apologized to him it was no matter. Overall a very good teacher.
His accent is so heavy, that he is hard to understand. He singles out students, and his tests are ridiculous. He spent more time ridiculing us than actually teaching us. I am so glad I never have to see him again.
Tests are extremely hard. He's hard to understand. Takes attendance and gets mad at class easily. But he is a good teacher and I learned more in this class than most classes. Also, he has pop quizzes.
2nd worst teacher ive ever had (see melkote shiviswamy). complete prick, does not care about his students. just glad i passed and will never see him again. very unhelpful outside of class; i went to see him for some help, he just ridiculed me and talked down to me the whole time i was there. class goes at light speed most the time. inspires hatred.
awful awful teacher. i think one of the worst teachers ever.doesn't care about his students and loves to fail people. there are no points other then tests and a couple quizzes so just be prepared. he's an idiot so don't expect help and he can hardly speak english so you almost need a translator.also don't go late to class it's not pretty.
Brilliant professor. Won't be appreciated by lazy students -- probably over their head most of the time. But if you're into economics and want to really grasp the material, there's no better prof available at BSU. The class was hard but well worth the work.
Really hard to follow and hard of hearing so students have to shout...don't be late or he will interrupt the entire class to stare you down until you get to your seat..NOT reccommended

Was a horrible prof!!! Was extremely rude to students and didn't explain things well at all. Doesnt listen to students at all either. He is one of those who thinks he is right just bc he's a prof. Most people do not like this prof. I absolutely loved him. He's scary as hell and in no way any help outside of class but as long as you actually go to class and read the book, you can pass this class easily. Try to pass it by just studying his notes and you'll fail miserably.
GET OUT OF HIS CLASS ASAP!! I have never gotten a C in my lifetime and this was my first. He will make a genius feel like an idiot. He is an absolutely awful professor. Get out while you still can.
You better be on time! He's not a people person to any degree. He's an economist. He carries with him no compassion, just like the real world/economy/market. Don't take this class if you think u might be late. He'll most likely end up kicking you out. I liked the class through for the challenge. You truly learn your stuff in this class. Take it!
he attempted to throw a kid out of class after he walked by the student and saw him on facebook, called it ****and got viciously angry but the student refused to leave for such a silly offense. So Zegeye stormed out and left the class there, astonished at what had just happened. Enough said.
He is terrible! I am pretty liberal when it comes to teachers, and I know a good teacher from a bad teacher. This man insults the education system- he has to be the worst teacher alive. He is very degrading to his students. Everyone is intimidated to even ask a question...how can students learn in an environment like this?

Zegeye has no social skills whatsoever, so if you are a person who needs help and usually goes to the prof for help, DON'T Take this class. I went to his office once for an equation, and he insulted me, saying I must have missed many classes, when I have only missed 1, AFTER that time. He hates everyone, and that is the truth.

This Prof. stopped lecture and yelled at the kid next to me for having a newspaper on the desktop near him..and it was already there BEFORE class even started. Rarely uses the book rather writes all of his notes up on the board but required to know the book for 7 pop quizzes. Expects a lot but fairly easy if you pay attention and look at the big picture and not memorize facts. Scattered brained at times but very apt on Austrian economics and how they apply to the market on a daily basis.
I consider this class to be hard. He dropped the two lowest quiz scores but the quizzes are only 10% of your grade and the other 90% is 3 test. There is no opportunity for extra credit or homework. Also the more you study for a test the harder it is.

Horrible. Treats COLLEGE students as elementary school students. Complains about cell phones out, will ridicule those that come in late (even less than 2 minutes late) Makes mistakes and will argue that it is not what he said. Will be retaking this class with someone else. Avoid this professor during summer classes!

He spends 1/4 of the time of class telling students to put away there cell phones that they aren't even using. He is not American so it is hard to understand the crazy man. Cant understand him. Even if you answer his questions right he cant understand you either. If you ask him to clarify something he'll explain in the exact same way with the same examples.

I would like to drop kick this guy back to Applesbees where he drinks everynight unless he is at Scottys or Chilis or Outback or Texas Roadhouse. Statistically speaking he drinks 100% of the time and is an jerk nearly 100% of the time. He also tries to golf..wow!! He should not try to golf.
Standard university attendance policy, but he sticks to it. He is very adamant that students show up on time. If you are lazy, show up unprepared, or disruptive, he will throw you out. If you cannot think on your own, or you rely on pure memorization to get through classes, you will struggle in his class.
old school, not a fan of online textbook or any other form besides the actuall book. Which is a problem bc the book he requires is close to $200. Try to get some one else especially if its for econ 221. Don't end up in hos class unless you have to.
Dr. Zegeye is a tough professor, but you will actually learn in his class. Attendance, punctuality, responsibility, and attention are basically key. You can't be late or disruptive. He doesn't like messing around. Old school, but awesome. I truly appreciated his style once I got used to it.
I am a fairly good student, but his tests proved otherwise. I have never studied so hard on a test, and to get D's on them all. Classmate asked him question after class and he just walked off. You get the problems wrong if you do not show your work right but have the wrong answer. Very strict, would find another professor!

Although he is a strict professor, he is a very good one. Paying attention, punctuality, and respectfulness are key to this class. He knows the material and teaches it very well. As long as you take good notes and do the readings you should do well.
He really knows the material and seems to enjoy teaching it. He can be funny at times, but be sure to not arrive late. He has no problem with calling you out on it. Study for the tests and you'll do well. He's a great guy who can just be a little strict at times.
He is a very good professor who you can tell is very knowledgeable of his subject. His tests are very hard and take a lot of studying, but I can say I did learn a lot regardless of what grade I do end up receiving.

As a well qualified professor he is very full of himself. At the start of the semester he said he would help us if we had questions this is not true. If you would ask a question he would make you feel very dumb. He has some humor but it does not help his class be less boring. Test are near impossible to understand because of his English.

He is very knowledgeable about his subject. He teaches straight from the book so it isn't really that bad. I wouldn't necessarily recommend him, but he wouldn't be my first choice if I had to retake the class. Just go to class, read the book, and do the chapter review and you will do fine.
The class really isn't that hard if you attend class, read the chapter and do the review. It takes a little effort in your part but you learn a lot and its really enjoyable seeing him get mad.

He is a horrible teacher. He closes the door the minute or the minute before class is even suppose to start. If he doesnt lock you out he glares at you and calls you out. He is not helpful. Horrible English! When he works problems he often gets them answer wrong.
The average grade for most of his classes is probably an F, not a B, C or anything else, as the 'average grade' continues to calculate. He isn't helpful in class or his office hrs. Makes you buy the book, which is too expensive, but he barely uses the book. REFUSES to teach online classes (temper tantrum). Confusing tests: trys to trick you w/ 2 similar answers. Has no social skills, gets angry easily. Probably has very few friends or meaningful relationships. Should retire: has no business teaching, much less being in public

Mr. Zegeye is a good professor. He will respect you if you give him respect. Showing up to class is a must. No homework just read the chapters in the book. There are 3 tests and 4 quizzes that make up your grade, all multiple choice. Show up to class, study hard and you will be fine. He knows the material really well and even bumped up my 89 to A-

Zegeye is a very tough professor, but he knows the material extremely well and teaches it well too. You must earn Dr. Zegeye's respect, but as long as you go to class and pay attention he will help you as much as you need it. I would definitely take his course again.
Zegeye was tough but worth it. I actually learned the material, and he was also very helpful and kind when I visited his office. He has particular things that turn him off like cell phones and he will crucify you for that but he really is a nice and helpful man.

Do not be late. I was 2 minutes late, and missed the TA taking attendance. After class I went up to ask him to make sure I got points for being there and he just told me to forget about it. And dismissed me.
No way would I take this class again! His tests are very tough which are the majority of your grade. I did well on the quizzes and studied for the tests the same way and did horrible. He is hard to understand, handwriting sucks, and he can't hear. I found him rude and he will just stop and stare in the middle of class with his sunglasses on.

Pretty much he's only there because he's passionate about economics and he should not be the guy professing it to kids who really honestly could care less about the subject. Dr. Zegeye is the most DIFFICULT and IRRATIONAL professor you will ever encounter in the business building. Shows contempt for all his students regardless of their level of preparation or respect. Speaks just above a whisper and with a heavy accent, writing ALL of his notes on the board in terrible cursive. Avoid this spiteful being at all costs.

One of the worst professors I have ever had. He's rude. There's been several times he's stopped the class just to pick on me for reading the book for THAT class, or being on my phone. His teaching methods are so off. I'd avoid him If I were you. I failed the class, but now I am retaking it with prof Srikant! He's the best I have an A in the class!
This class made me want to cry. I know economics fairly well, but he was tough. More than anything, he was just really strict. You'll probably pass this class if you try hard enough, but don't be shocked if you take a test, feel like you aced it, and get like a D.
He does not speak clearly, often gets confused, and does not respect his students. He is not understanding, does not except doctors notes or school excused absences. I would highly recommend taking this class with a different professor. You will be fine if you can teach yourself from the book , otherwise it is very hard to follow along in class.
Personally I thought he was a good teacher, he really knows the content and I learned a lot form his class. The expectations in his class are not outlandish: be on time and do not use your phone in class, he's not asking for a lot. However, he has a thick accent, hearing problem, writes in cursive, & often is condescending when asked a question
While he's a tough teacher, I have tremendous respect for him. He explains the material well and is always available outside of class. If you show him hard work he will go out of his way to help you. I enjoyed many office hour conversations with him. He does not tolerate tech (phones, laptops, etc.) and you better show up on time.
He seems really tough and scary but he was one of my favorite professors. He has strict rules but is pretty funny and cool. It is all lectures, quizzes, and tests. He clearly knows the material and will go over anything multiple times. BUY THE STUDY GUIDE, it saved my life. Great class if you like Econ and want to learn. Not an easy A.
He only grades you on tests and quizzes. Study hard or you will not pass. Attending class is an absolute must. If you are one minute late or on your phone he will be instantly mad. Hard to understand sometimes. When you ask him questions he goes on random rants avoiding the question asked. Take another prof.

This professor gets a bad rap. yes he is old school and dosent want his students on there phone or doing anything outside work in his class. However if these students that have given him such a bad rating got over his phone policy and rated him based on how good he teaches he would be in the top 5 at Miller. Pay attention and go to class.

So here's the deal with Prof. Z. If you take notes, show up, and don't have your phone out he's not going to care enough about you to yell at you. Which is a good thing. The class itself is easily passable by just going over the study guide/workbook regularly. Otherwise you can tune out during class.
Zegeye is a better professor then what people give him credit for. I personally did not buy the book and am doing fine in his class. If you give this class the attention and effort it requires, you should have no problem passing with a good grade. Its students who have their phones out, skip class, or don't pay attention/ take good notes who fail.

Basically, the grade you earn is the effort you out into the class. I worked my butt off to get an A in the class. I also know people who barely listened to his lectures and got a C in the class. If you are hard working, his class is pretty easy. EVERYTHING IN LECTURE IS ON THE TEST. Listen to him, he knows what he is talking about. AND STUDY

I do not feel he is in any way shape or form attacking other students. It is a easy class if you just do your work and be a good student. He is wonderful and a pleasure to visit during or outside office hours.
Make sure he has you in the right seat, for his seating chart. He knocks off letter grades after so many absences.
I worked very hard to try and do well in this class, unfortunately if you mess up one test its very hard to come back from that. We had 4 or 5 test including midterm and final. BUY THE BOOK! It was literally about the only way for me to study, even thought I wrote all of his notes down. Don't miss class or even remotely have your phone out.
Do not under any circumstances take this professor. He only grades on tests and they make no sense, no matter how hard you study. Even if you think you're smart, don't take him. He's super rude and pisses everyone off. Save yourself the pain and take someone else. Chances are you won't pass if you take him.

Very kind and patient expecially to foreign student. I learnt alot of US economic policies from him, and the professor gave me several hints to study this major in economics
