This teacher is very rude and speaks to students in a condescending manner. The material presented in general is easy, but her test questions are misleading. You may not be tardy or absent EVER!! She's not very sympathetic to absences, even if it may be an emergency. She's knowledgeable about the subject. Not a fun class.
She knows what she's talking about and make the class interesting even for someone, like myself, that has no interest in politics. You do have to take notes and read the book if you want an A. Attendance is mandatory. Her quizzes are easy, and her tests are moderate if you do study. You HAVE to read for this class.
Professor knew her subject well. She was clearly passionate about politics. Was willing to answer any question any student would have. If you read the book and do the assignments, then getting a good grade is not that hard to get. Attendance is mandatory, but I've brought a doctor note and she was fine with it.
Not my favorite teacher.. she had difficult quizzes and test's that were designed to throw you off. I still got a B in the class but I wouldn't really recommend it.
reading is a must for this class. make sure you pay attention to her lectures and really study hard for her test, some questions are tricky.
This class was all text based. If you read and take notes in class then you WILL pass! She gives a basic review prior to all exams. Oh and the paper that is due at the end of the semester is a major grade booster! It was the difference between C and B.
one of the worst, least helpful profs I have ever had. Tests were misleading and much harder than the actual material dictated. I took 3351 prior to this 3350 course and did MUCH better. I strongly recommend that you do NOT take prof. Singh
Excellent professor. Very wise but you may have problems understanding with her accent. Must go to class or you will be lost. Book is a must for a good grade and you must read everyday or you can highlight while in class. Gives 6 quizzes and 4 test (No Final or Mid-Term). Overall great professor and class is what you make it.
This professor was very helpful! The class was well structured and I would recommend this class to everyone
Professor was knowledgeable and very helpful. I learned a lot from this class. Definitely recommend to others.
She was very helpful in class and cared very much about the subject and the students learning. She was always prepared for discussion and promoted intellectual understanding. She wasn't the easiest teacher, but the best ones aren't the easiest and she wants you to earn the grade.
Very hard professor, but I learned a lot! You need to read the book every day as there will be a quiz after 2 chapters (6 quizzes in all) as you go along and 4 tests over all. Her accent is hard to understand sometimes but she cares very much about this subject. Not that bad of a class or teacher. Average.
Hated this class. Professor and TA's aren't helpful at all. 6 quizes (gauranteed 1 quiz after every 2 chapters). It is important to read the book. It's hard to pass the class without reading. Attendance is taken every day.
Worst professor I have ever encountered. Asking a question during class, expect an attitude from her but if you get her after class she's slightly more helpful. Reading is HIGHLY recommended since her tests are based off the book, not the lectures. Her accent is terrible to understand.
Horrible teacher. Contradicts herself. Hates to be questioned about grades. Takes off points for asking questions. Counts off for information not given. Tests are designed to trick you.
Excellent professor! Very helpful! She is very knowledgeable and organized. If you are willing to work hard you will find her grading fair and consistent. The class is well-structured and professor conducts all the communications extremely well.
She takes attendance daily and has a thick Indian accent. There are also quizzes about every two weeks and her exam material can be tricky.
Challenging Class, Attendance is highly mandatory!! The Slides are based on the book, just read to book carefully and the Test are an easy B.
Dr. Singh is extremely knowledgable about the subject matter and she is great at answering questions. However, her lectures are dense and you need to pay attention at all times. Don't make this the last class of the day. Her tests are very difficult and she uses a lot of trick questions to solicit wrong answers. Good teacher - difficult class.
Singh's attendance means show up before she takes roll or be marked absent. Being modest, I made it on time at least 1/4 of each day but failed because she gave me a 0/30 for my attendance grade and I was .23 points away from at least passing. She's a harsh grader and very demeaning towards the class. Do not take this class with this professor.
I really enjoyed this class. It was very easy. If you take good notes, you don't even have to open the book to get an A. She was helpful with questions and I don't think her accent was difficult to understand. If you just follow the syllabus, show up, and take good notes....you'll do really well.
Good teacher, knowledgeable, it's a big class don't expect special attention, does review before exams. If you take really good notes you won't need the book except for graphs.
Great content, but the course is largely self-propelled, any questions I had were better served googling, when I did have questions I was only ever sent back to the lecture. Biggest beef with the prof: I only got one grade below an A in the class yet somehow, I got a mid-range b in the course. Not looking for an easy grade just the one I earned.
Do not recommend this professor. Attendance is mandatory. I missed 3 classes and she gave me a 15/30 which is total BS because I attended class more than half time. Strong accent. DO NOT TAKE HER
Pretty good teacher, who is encouraging of students. REAL stickler for punctuality-accepts NO late work. Not a huge deal for 1 or 2 weekly assignments, but a KILLER when it's the research paper. My 20 min. late, 7 page paper was not accepted, and my final grade dropped from a 89% to 72% better to turn in something on time, even if unfinished.
The class is a bit difficult, but Singh is a really great teacher! She can be harsh sometimes, but she is funny and very smart about politics. I would recommend her but make sure you keep up with the reading!
I always attended class and did every test and still gave me a D for running late
I took her first and second part of political science her grading system stays exactly the same quiz's after every two chapter, which really helps for the tests. And tests after every 4 chapters. I thought she did a good job of presenting and explaining the material. She can be a bit sarcastic but overall great teacher
Attendance, as stated, is huge. Grading is arbitrary with most of the class receiving 10/30 on papers with NO explanation. Questions were purposefully tricky and vague to get students to miss points. She almost never gives an A and there were many people in class taking her for the 2nd time because they failed her first course. You've been warned.
Attendance is mandatory. Gradding is arbitaring, they quizzes are confusing.
Good class, very straight forward. If you read the material before class you'll do just fine. Prof Singh highlights important info that will be on the exam. She provides an Exam review so that you increase your chances of getting a good grade. Attendance is very important as is interaction.
No don't take her. extremely hard, You won't pass what so ever unless your some kind of genius. You'll hear Personal Tought ALOT.
She's not super easy - this isn't high school, but it's pretty easy for a college class. Just do the reading and study, no big deal.
She has a slight accent, but it's still understandable! She uses a power point and clarifies everything very well. Reading the textbook before the lecture is extremely helpful. The class is both interesting and slightly challenging. She engages in class discussion with 300 student. I highly recommend taking her Political Science Course!
Stay for every lecture, study your notes, show up to review session classes and guarantee a passing grade! Good Luck!
No the best professor, do not take her.
For Intro to Politics, one cannot say that she's not clear. She makes it very clear with her condescending remarks that you, as her student, are a waste of human flesh. She took that class too seriously for what it was for a degree in engineering. Like taking algebraprecalculus too seriously for your political science degree. Do not deal with her.
Dr. Singh is a very harsh professor. She is rude with students, talks down to them and ridicules. Her accent is very thick and she gets upset if you ask her to repeat what she said or speak slowly, she talks very fast. Her tests are multiple choice but its about choosing best answer rather than the correct answer as listed in the book, complicated.
Everything in the bookPowerPoint is on the tests. Attend class for the attendance points and clarity if you need it. She's witty, has a small accent but it's very understandable if you're paying attention. Made me interested in the subject. Excited to take her again next semester, the class is so easy if you just apply yourself.
You don't need the book to pass, but having it will ensure you get an A. Go to the reviews she offers and you will get good grades on the tests. Pretty simple class. She grades attendance so try to show up (it's worth 20%). I didn't go to class half the time and still got a B. If I went all the time I would have gotten an A, easily.
You don't need the book to pass, but having it will ensure you get an A. As long as you go to the reviews she offers and you study the PowerPoints, you will get good grades on the tests. Pretty simple class. She grades attendance so try to show up (it's worth 20%).
Professor Singh is very specific with what she is asking for and you must do the discussion cases as well as answering her self-reflection questions. Missing three out of the ten sessions can make you dance between a D and a C. The tests are not much easy but not too hard and her project paper is tough graded. Very critical.
i thought it was tough at first. Even considered dropping the class. I didn't study/read/pay attention. Now i do & its super easy. Attend the reviews and take good notes in class and you'll pass your exams easy. Exams are not hard at all if you study the review. She drops your lowest grade & you don't have to take a final if your grades are high.
I was a bit iffy about her because she would often get very upset with the tech guys. She would be super rude to them, not the students, but it gave off bad first impression. However, she really does want students to understand the material and is very much willing to listen to the students if they have questions. She's not all strict.
Boring class, expects everyone to already know everything, use clicker for assistance, wouldn't take it again.
Do not take this class there are just 5 tests during the whole semester so you have to memorize all the chapter in order to do "average" on a test. No extra credit, boring lectures, she will never miss a class during the whole semester, Ohhh and she has the clicker so you can't miss class. They are super hard so take at your own risk.
You don't need the book to pass tests aren't hard you just need to memorize a lot of things. You'll be fine as long as you attend to the reviews she offers and take good notes. There are just 4 exams and she drops your lowest grade
Professor Singh's class was kind of difficult, you have to basically memorize the book/slides to get a decent grade on the exams. She uses clickers every class and practically never misses class. There's only 4 tests, I don't recommend taking her for either part of POLS.
Use the clicker, and don't cheat! You will need the book to pass this class. She provides good pre test reviews, so pay attention. Assistance is a must, it will make a difference in your grade. She has tough rules at the class, and can be condescending .This class will increase your neuronal capacity if you put some effort!
Class is pure lecture. She uses slides from the textbook company and flies through them. The content is a lot more difficult than it needs to be, and her tests are ridiculous. You will memorize lots of stuff if you take her, but learn next to nothing and not be interested at all.
She is rude and thinks her Syllabus is perfect. Don't trust her Syllabus! CHECK YOUR EMAILS! CHECK YOUR CALENDAR. CHECK EVERYTHING! Her blackboard class is a pain to maneuver through and she averages about three assignments a day apart from the reading. Also you will be buying two very expensive textbooks. Find another professor.
She is an amazing teacher however I did not get anything, probably cause i never read.
Not the best online teacher, I took her 2311 lecture class and received an A. However online is a different story! she is not helpful, nor understanding at all, and quite rude. She's one of those "I know it all" professors. I hope not all of utep online classes are like this one. My POLS GPA was a 4.0 before this class :(
Professor Singh is a great professor and genuinely enjoys what she teaches. I enjoyed every class with her. The reviews stating that she is rude are completely inaccurate. However, if the equipment in the classroom is acting up she does complain about that. (Who wouldn't?) Great professor! Also takes attendance through the form of a clicker
Not the greatest professor to take for POLS. I am not sure if there is a communication problem with her or her second language is English but the syllabus and notes are hard to decipher. Very hard grader, especially on well written material. None of her instructions are consistent with each other. Do not take her class if you want a high grade.
Get ready to read! She uses powerpoints and doesn't clearly explain what's on them. Dont even bother asking her to elaborate on the slides, she always gives a rude comment or says she'll go over it in future chapters. I received an A but I had to read. Her test are easy if you read and do the review.
HORRIBLE TEACHER!!! DONT EVEN BOTHER WITH HER OR THE COURSES SHE TEACHES. She's very discouraging and is rude when you ask her for help. Thinks she's knows everything and isn't clear on instructions or assignments. You will have to buy TWO textbooks in order to pass her course.
One of the best professors at UTEP! Excellent teacher who helps you learn through amazing lectures and sensible tests. The students who complain are the ones who want easy grades. If you want to learn at college level, this is the teacher you need to take. I am looking forward to take her again. Highly recommend!!!
This professor is absolutely terrible. She is not helpful, her test reviews are broad, and there are only 4 exams. She does Powerpoints and expects you to memorize the entire book, but only gives reviews two days before the exam so it isn't possible to adequately study alwhat will be on the exams. She speeds through the material and isn't helpful.
The worst professor I've ever had. Very difficult to understand, refuses to respond to emails, rude, avoid at all costs.
Usually has technical difficulties at the beginning of class and sometimes throughout. DO NOT BUY HER BOOK, ALL of the material is on power points she sends you. Uses clickers to take attendance and is a grade. Strict towards laptops, phones and falling asleep.
Exelent lecturer , no home work , no extra work for extra credit, attendance and participation measured with a clicker. it does not matter if you are 2 min late she will not give you the point for asisstence , if you miss the last question of participant you will miss points it does not matter if you did right 9 of 10
She doesn't care for your problems at class. She is nothing accessible, and non understanding.
Put in the effort and you will pass. Lazy students stay away, don't think about skipping class on a consistent basis. She teaches an interesting subject but does it in such a rigid way that it is boring. Lastly, this might sound harsh, but her accent, at times, makes it really hard to understand her. Make sure you follow up with her after class
Prof. Singh definitely resides within a higher caliber of educators. This woman is extremely knowledgeable and constantly remains up to date on current events so she could relate them to what she is teaching in the classroom. If you want a professor that will challenge your current state of thinking, do it! She wants to see all her kids pass!
Teacher will take away 5 pts out of 20 for writing on the exam. Is very unprofessional , will shout and degrade students in front of class for small things such as sitting on the fourth row while using a laptop.
She is very nice, strict about paying attention, TAs also help her. Easy class if you do her reviews before Exams. Four exams and then final, she will drop your lowest grade. Bought book online for reviews. Attendance is grade, using scanners outside classroom. Doesnt use the clicker anymore. Will work with you if you need to miss an exam like me
Lecture heavy. She grades on attendance, one point for every lecture you show up to (dont forget your student ID, they will not help you if you forget it.) Grade for the class consist of 4 exams, but she drops one w/ the lowest score. You MUST read the textbook to prep for the exams. Good class for self directed learners. Beware, lazy people
The tests are somewhat difficult. I would advise reading the book. You DO NOT need to buy the new version over $100, find someone with the old. I used the old book and got a 97. Just read it and study powerpoint.
Your textbook is basically your class. Death by power point. Reads of power point slide that is provided for her. Have to memorize the whole textbook. She to go back to school to retrain as a teacher.
Shes so rude and disrespectful! Take this class online instead of this professor, who doesn't know how to teach.
Great teacher! Makes class really interesting even for those who are not interested in the subject. The complaining students are those looking for an easy grade or have personal vendetta.
Professor Singh is the best instructor! Her teaching is an amazing and she cares a lot. I recommend to take her course again!
She is an amazing instructor! Her teaching is the best and I enjoyed her class! I recommend to take her again!
Fair class if you show up to every lecture and study with the given reviews before the tests. She cares and her lectures are interesting, but shes also rude. Attendance is 20% of your grade and she drops a test grade at the end of the semester. All in all, if you study youll get an A.
Realistically, I just didn't like her teaching style nor did I like the way she would explain things in her so called "reviews".
Easy class, study the given test review, and you will get an easy A. I did Well on my first three tests and slacked on my final. She drops the lowest test grade.
Whole grade is based off of 4 tests (one dropped), and attendance. Each absence takes away from your grade. She's a good lecturer but has a thick accent and makes you read a lot. She's also not accessible over email. Gives reviews for tests but they're still extremely hard no matter how much you study. Got a C and messed up my 4.0
A good teacher with okay lectures, you will have to attend class and use clickers for 20% of your grade, you will take 4 exams one dropped no finale, People complain and say she has a heavy accent even though she doesn't, she has an accent but you will be able to understand every single word she speaks. Most reviews are from lazy people
She is great! No essays ! No surprise quizzes. Four tests that's all. All you have to do is read the material provided. She helps by giving us the review for each test and provides access to the power points to help us better understand and study. Great lecture.
Very rude towards TA's and students. The worse class/professor I have ever taken in college.
Dr. Singh can be rude sometimes but she know what she talks about. If you don't read, pay attention to the slides. She provides reviews for her tests so that helps a little. Her class consists of attendance, participation (through REEF), and four exams. Lowest one will be dropped, no extra credit. Her book is custom made so its very expensive
Dr. Singh is a tough professor. Some students say her accent is too strong but she is understandable. Her exams are super hard if you do not read the book, they are super detailed and she only drops the lowest one. Attendance is mandatory for 15% of your overall grade. I recommend taking this class with somebody else if you want a higher grade.
Her accent is quite thick I sometimes was not able to figure out what she just had said. You only get graded on three things: iClicker, attendance and 3of 4 exams. The book is quite expensive as its custom made. Read the chapters thoroughly before an exam and make sure you get EVERYTHING that's in the review. Dont slack on the reading! good luck
You NEED the textbook to keep up with the class and will only find it at the bookstore, but she is really good at explaining her lecture and will answer any question you have. She gives extra credit for attendance. You take 4 exams, but drops your lowest grade. Exams arent hard if you use the study guides.
Hardest class ever taken, hard accent, rude to TA's & students, long boring lectures and she makes them more complicated than they need. Use of iclicker, so you cant be absent you have 4 exams she drops the lowest one, but the reviews dont help which make it extremely hard to pass. Basically have to memorize book, I highly dont recommend.
Go to class. Take notes. Listen to her lecture because you will have questions on iClicker throughout the class. You'll pass the exams if you study.
Your class grade is based off three things: attendance, participation through iClicker, and 3 of 4 exams. Her accent isn't as bad as people make it seem. She lectures way too much in my opinion. Even for 30 minutes either before or after an exam. She's rude to both the TAs and the students. I will never take another class with her.
I took her class and it is very overwhelming. She will not stop throughout the lecture and will even lecture for 30 minutes before the exams. Her accent is not that bad but since she talks so much and so fast it is hard to keep up. I studied from her guides, read from the book, and studied from the powerpoints and failed every test. Not recommended
She is an amazing professor. Her lectures are very clear and interesting. There are 4 exams throughout the semester which is 75% of your grade (she drops the lowest grade). Attendance is very important its 10% of your grade. We also used iclicker to answer questions of the lectures, it counts 15% of your grade as well. Just read the book.
Professor Singh is a piece of work. In an auditorium with 300 students, all 4 TAs patrol the classroom to make sure students aren't using electronics rather than helping (extremely insulting as an adult). Yet you need electronics in order to answer stupid iClicker questions. Only grades are 4 tests, attendance, and iClicker. Lowest test is dropped.
Professor Singh is most helpful, caring, and knowledgeable instructor I had ever taken. I'll take her again.
I wouldnt recommend taking her class, not only is it a difficult course, I found her to be extremely boring. she has her TAs walking around the auditorium making sure no one is texting or sleeping. You will use iclicker everyday to answer quiz questions about your readings, save the questions and study them for exams, good luck, youll need it
Professor Singh is professional, knowledgable and cares that her student's learn. However, to accomplish her goals, she applies extremities of strict behavior, difficult test, and challenging in class questions. Has 4-5 TA's supervise around class, test based class(HARD TEST), Drops lowest test, Informative lectures. You'll learn, but it hurts gpa
Participation in every class, so you have to pay attention in lectures and read read read. Tests are hard, study in advance. She's very knowledgeable and funny, but also strict.
Worst instructor i have ever take. Sometimes the Iclicker does not work and you get the questions. Is so boring and hard. I would never recommend this class EVER. Is so distracting when TA are walking around. The technology is so distracting. Worst class ever. Make yourself a favor and dont take it with this instructor.
Absolute worst professor. Online class? Nope. She has her own schedule DURING WORK HOURS which defeats the purpose of an online class. She is condescending and extremely tough grader. Skip her at all costs.
If you can, take another teacher. classes are extremely boring, you only have 4 tests to pass the class, if not you are done! My calculus and chem classes were easier than this class!
Professor Singh is an excellent teacher; she puts students first.
Excellent professor. If you attend class, pay attention and study like you're supposed to, you'll easily pass with at least a B.
Class was never an issue. As long as you take Written notes on the PowerPoints she presents not just listen and say you understand, youll be fine for the tests. Most of the test is honestly on the PowerPoints and some are even questions asked on the iClicker. I never personally needed the textbook unless I missed a lecture and needed to catch up.
hated this class with all of me. she is uptight and rude, the TAs are also rude and patrol like police to try to make you feel like youre in middle school. unfair grading because all you get is 4 exams with no room for error. worst class ive ever taken & as an A student ive never done this poorly before so ill gladly redo with a better teacher!
I took Chemistry Concepts with Abha and it was the worst experience I have ever had with a class & professor. Please avoid this class & professor if you want to pass. She is very hard to understand because of her accent and is rude if you ask questions during her lectures. Study guides are useless for exams. She does not care about her students.
Prof Singh is a great instructor. Ignore the negative reviews.
It's the worst teacher ever, you can barely understand her lectures. Take any other possible teacher. Be ready to take quizzes every day through iclicker. Good luck.
Grades mainly rely on tests , attendance and iQlicker questions only make up 10% of grades. Test also are tricky. Professor was nice but tough grader.
Her accent is not nearly as bad as some people say, however the class itself is very hard and incredibly test heavy. She responds fasts to emails but if youre taking a full course load I recommend taking someone else, you have to read about 15-20 hours a week of the textbook, she tried to make it interesting but it was often incredibly boring.
She is ok.
Shes very non-communicative. She gives you the tools to pass the course and thats all. Through this online course Ive never actually spoken with her. All contact has been through the TAs
Singh is a good prof. The material is clear, and the tests are doable if you read and pay attention.
Throughout my semester I was given five classes, one of them being POLS 2310. I didn't do much research on my professors, thinking it will all be fine. I signed up for this class and didn't know I could actually choose my prof. My advisor gave me the worst teacher ever. She's hard to understand and her recorded lectures are not helpful. Avoid her
Professor is extremely unaware of pandemic and expects you to have everything done correctly the moment you start. I received a zero and fifty just because I didn't follow her very specific orders. Looks for very exact answers when it comes to assignments and if you don't say what she wants she counts it all wrong. No extra credit or makeup work
Professor Singh is very straightforward about her expectations. It's pretty clear cut and I've heard of her generosity from fellow classmates if a student is on the cusp of getting a better grade (i.e. A vs B, passing vs failing, etc.). She has an Indian accent but it's not incomprehensible. If you reach out and do the work, she's willing to help.
I enjoyed her class. Her grading system is clear. She expects you to work for your grade, but you will learn a lot. She is fair, straight-forward and helpful.
Her course is extremely difficult. You are expected to know the material like the back of your hand. You are only graded by tests and quizzes; no assignments like work sheets. Her lectures are very long and hard to follow sometimes.
got 100's and 90's on all my grades but she didn't agree with my opinion on my final paper and she gave me a 60 I ended up with a 72 for my final grade. i had no choice but to take her if you do end up in her class try and figure out her track of mind and just agree with her even if you don't or you will fail! run!!!
Shes horrible as a professor shes lecture heavy and doesnt seem to care much about students actually learning. I got a C in her class because my participation points didnt register right at the end of the semester. Instead of helping she sent me a whole syllabus. I shouldve taken it to the dean.
The quizzes are extremely easy, but the tests are another story. However, the review sessions include most of the answers to the tests which i didnt know about. She uses lockdown browser and not enough time. only take if youre willing to work for your A
Good class. The material is presented straightforwardly. Work hard, and youll get a good grade.
The class was good. If you read the textbook and study the lectures, youll be fine.
Overall a good class. The grading criteria are clear, and the course content is rigorous and insightful. You do, however, have to read the textbook to get a good grade.
I took her course online and it was conducted asynchronous. All it composed of was quizzes and exams based off her lectures and reading the textbook. Easy A if you do. I never communicated with her. No extra credit.
Her accent is thick, teaching is just reading out PowerPoints, you cannot ask any questions without being degraded. She'll shame you in front of the class. There's a difference between being tough and just plain rude. If paying for an education means you can't ask your professor to understand the course better than select another course.
pretty hard class. If you struggle comprehending reading material, this class will be hard. Attendance is mandatory because you have to participate in iclicker for a grade. Her tests are 40 questions, on lockdown browser and you basically have to memorize all the material to pass. weekly quizzes are easy. I got a C and I spent hours reading weekly.
The class's difficulty level would be acceptable had this not been a mandatory core class. The questions on the exams are often formatted in a seemingly intentionally deceiving manner. When taking this course a lot of your time will be allocated to studying. Unless you have a strict interest in politics I would recommend taking another class.
You must attend her classes in person in order to get the iClicker grade, but the lectures themselves do not mean anything. Each and every single quiz I took in her class had nothing to do with the lectures. Anything that you are taught in class will not be in the quiz and you would have an easier time just reading the textbook in class.
I emailed her a couple of times to request assistance a guidance but she never replied back or replied after assignment due date. Also very rude.
I took her for POLS2310, and that class was WAY harder than POLS3350. She is still very strict and tough grader, she expects a lot from her students, and if you don't put in the work your grade will reflect it. If you aren't a political science major I would avoid her though. Weekly assignments, two exams, and a paper.
Do not take this professor, our overall grade is based solely on quizzes and tests which have to be memorized. We have no other assignments that will help us bring up our grades. I never had time to finish my tests because of the short time limit. Horrible grading system and does not offer any extra credit.
I TOOK THIS PROFESSOR DURING MY FALL SEMESTER AND WAS THE WORST EXPERIENCE I HAD SUPER TOUGH ON GRADING GRADES YOU FOR ALMOST ANYTHING SHE CAN SHE GRADES U ON ATTENDANCE, ICLICKERS IN CLASS, MINI QUIZZES, AND TESTS NO EXTRA CREDIT IS GIVEN SO GOOD LUCK IF U DECIDE TO GO FOR IT
Quizzes she gives us are based on articles, meanwhile tests are based on the chapters. Gives unlimited tries on the quizzes but one try on exam. Each exam is 20% of your grade, each quiz is 5% of your grade. There's 10 quizzes and 4 exams, exams are 80% of your grade and quizzes are only 20%. There is no extra credit.
one of the worst teachers at UTEP. Don't ask her any questions or expect her to help you, she will belittle you and refuse to do her job. Her lectures are useless as none of the material is on the tests, the tests consist of nitpicked info from the book she doesn't cover. Quizzes are easy and the only reason why I even passed this class.
Terrible professor
I had to drop this class, she only grades on 4 tests, quizzes and iclicker (if you get a question wrong it cost you points), there is no way you can get your grade up and honestly she isn't accesible at all
One of the worst classes I have ever been part of, she is a narcisistic, prideful and tough person to deal with. His class overall is based on weekly quizzes and three tests through lockdown browser. She likes to call out people for being slow, or making wrong answers. She expects you to know everything. Dont take it, it is not worth it at all.
Please do not take this class if you have the opportunity.
Avoid whenever possible, please, for your sake.
Not a good professor she is very weird and gives her views on politics makes me not wanna vote anymore if you have the chance to take her to run away
Her tests are nearly completely based on the book so if you want to pass be prepared to memorize a big chunk of info. If you don't like to read, do not take this professor. Attendance is mandatory because she uses radius based iclicker questions to measure who is paying attention. Even if you're in class, if you get the poll wrong your grade drops.
Absolute worst professor. there are only 3 grading criteria; iclicker questions(20%), quizzes(20%), and midterms(60%). iclicker, and midterms can only be taken once so anything you get wrong and any absences immediately lower your grade. It's impossible to ask for another chance or empathy and any emails will be answered with borderline mockery
Honest opinion: worst professor I've ever take. She doesn't offer extra credit, extensions, or curves. iClicker (worth 20%) and tests (worth 60%) are worth 80% of your total grade which mean you have to do really good on both. TA walk around class ensuring you don't use your phone or get distracted looking or doing something else which is annoying.
If I could diss her like Kendrick dissed Drake I would. She is a walking nightmare and her TA's are worse, one would keep going near me and even stare at me throughout the whole lecture. Doesn't help that all the info is in the footnotes and it's very vague. You need to do outside research and watch crash course to minimum pass the class.
I beg of you to please take the advice from this review to turn and run. Literally, RUN SO FAST. If you could hold off on this class to avoid getting this professor, I highly recommend doing so if not you WILL waste your time because this class is borderline impossible to pass, no extra credit, stuck up, and dont even get me started on her TA's
if you thought you had a bad teacher in the past, no you actually didn't. take this class and you will change your mind very quickly. all i can say is for the sake of your sanity, avoid this professor and her TA's
I wish I had taken these reviews more seriously beforehand, don't be a fool like me. Turn around and save yourself while you still have a chance, please. I came out of this fall semester a changed person because of this lady (not in a good way). I beg of you don't put yourself through this nightmare.
this professor is my villain arc story
Overall, does not work with students. No extra credit, Attendance is mandatory and will not negotiate for emergencies (first hand experience), lectures are power points she barely reads, iClickers make up a lot of final grade but she barely gives you time to read and answer, exams are difficult and confusing.
I have taken both intro courses with her and received "A" in both. She is an intelligent instructor who explains everything with interesting lectures. Fair and clear grading criteria! She does expect you to work for your grade. If you want to learn politics, she is your teacher. But If you are one of the slackers expecting an easy grade, stay away!
she doesnt accept mistakes
Very interesting lectures. All grading criteria has been explained in the syllabus and by the professor on the first day of the class. You know what to expect from the class. If you do your share of the work, you should be fine.
Terrible professor and TA's
You will know exactly what to expect from this course. Very clear grading categories. You must be willing to be on top of the things - no slacking allowed. If you keep up with the reading assignments and not postpone everything until the test and quizzes to catch up, you should do well. Her lectures are very interesting and informative. Loved it!
She explained politics in an easily understandable way. Makes the subject interesting. 4 tests-not too long and couple of quizzes. Available during office hours for any question or discussion. Would take her again!
save u the time do not take her
I learned a lot in this class, topics were quite insightful. The professor explained things clearer than the book. The structure and overall grade criteria of the class was horrible tho. The prof basically makes it impossible to pass her class. It's only a class for credit and you'll be lucky to pass with a C. Got a B myself and was in the top 1%.
Just the worst teacher ive had in this university
One of my closest friends passed away 5 days before an exam, I obviously didn't pass. I went and talked to her, and I told her my situation. She said that "I graded myself and that I should know what the syllabus says about make ups".
This professor ask questions that are so convoluted that it makes you wonder if you were in the same lecture from where the questions were asked from. She has no accountability for self, but tries to hold students to a high level of accountability. She treats the T.A.'s like they are beneath her. Take another professor, this one is broke.
Absolutely terrible. She is not an understanding person at all and is extremely rude. I don't understand how she has not been fired yet. She does not take attendance in class at all yet she grades attendance which makes zero sense to me
Professor Abha Singh runs a tough, but rewarding POLS2310 course. The grading is rigorous, but engaging lectures and Unstuck AI make studying efficient. Not for the faint of heart, but worthwhile for politics enthusiasts.
Dr. Singh is probably one of the worst professors I have had at UTEP. She has no ounce of understanding or kindness to her teaching skills. Her grading criteria is clear but does pretty much the bare minimum.
Dr. Singh has been one of the worst professors I have had. She has no ounce of empathy, she has very little self accountability but expects it from her students. She can be a bit rude at times but her grading criteria is clear. My advice is read the book! If you can, pick another professor and save yourself a heartache.
Worst professor in POLS ever. Heavy lectures, she uses iClicker as attendance and participation, the quizzes and test are with lockbrowser and camera. She only grades with that.she is super rude and thinks that her class is the most important thing you have to do, she doesn't gives you any opportunity to talk to her because she will be super rude.
This professor opens assignments the day before they're do and no earlier. Of you have a schedule that doesn't allow for a rigid schedule, don't take this class . This professor does not allow make ups and will not open assignments early or work with your schedule at all. Completely defeated the purpose of taking an online class. Not worth it.
Attendance is mandatory, she does not take any excuses for missing class except doctors notes. She is not an understanding professor she expects you to put her class first. She does in class assignments with iclicker which is very annoying. Only quizzes and exams for grades.
For the people that voted her anything more than 1 star, IGNORE THEM. RUN CHOOSE ANOTHER PROFESSOR
Not that hard of a class, the tests and quizzes contain exactly what was on the lecture. iClicker is a bit inconvenient for attendance and participation as sometimes you experience technical issues that you have no control over that could end up bringing your grade down.
Difficult to understand, stubborn and very bad at grammar when she writes our test and quizzes
Difficult, so much content to remember
She waited until the semester was practically over to give us our grade. Only allowed retakes if we had one of the specific reasons stated in her syllabus. Her use of iClicker is inefficient and relies on the app not malfunctioning (which it does). Not very forgiving with deadlines. Lecture is paced weirdly, many would fall asleep.
Lectures were long, weirdly paced, and many fall asleep. Not forgiving with deadlines in the slightest. Relies heavily on tests and quizzes. Use of iClicker is inefficient and relies on the app not malfunctioning (which it does). Only allows retakes with specific reason. Waited until the semester was practically over to give us our final grades.
A fair teacher who works hard to explain the topics from the textbook and slides. Not an easy class but interesting lectures with clear grading criteria. She uses iClicker polling during lectures to gauge comprehension level of the students. If you pay attention, you get easy points with that. Stay on top of the things and do your readings!
She is unprofessional and has a lack of compassion. If you do not have compassion, you chose the wrong career. I had a text I was taking through lockdown browser but my issue was that my mouse would randomly stop popping up, it started randomly opening external tabs then my whole test went white on me. She failed me for technical difficulties
This professor tried to keep lecturing while a student was having a seizure in the class. If that doesn't tell what type of professor she is then I don't know what does.
Take any other proffesor! Exams are in person, lockdown browser, camera on, in order to do exam you need a code only proffesor and ta's have. I got there 30 minutes before class and still started the exam 15 minutes late because they verify everyone's screen individually. Quizzes and exams are lecture and textbook heavy. Lectures are exhausting.
Just to let y'all know, this has been the worst teacher you could take for political science. If you appreciate your mental health, with all honesty, just take other classes, and avoid this teacher at ALL COSTS.
the worst class ever! please avoid at all costs !!
This is the second course I have taken with this professor. In both courses, I was amazed at how cool all her lectures were! If you want to learn, this is your teacher. If you want to goof up waiting for an easy grade, than she is not. You need to work for your grade but in the end you will learn a lot about politics!
This might be the worst "teacher" I have ever had. Whatever you do, do not take this or any of her classes if you value your mental health at all. This class is not hard, she is just bad at teaching.
Great teacher! She takes time to explain everything with real world examples which makes a dry subject like Political Science quite interesting. After taking a couple of classes with her, I have decided to change my major to Political Science. This would not be an easy class but worth your time if you want to learn and not just want an easy A.
Superb lectures! Loved it 😍
For my course, you had to read the chapter before coming to class and if you didn't, you WILL be lost. She isn't the best at lectures but if you just read the textbook, the test and quizzes should be easy.
Awful. Her accent is hard to understand sometimes and she is rude to students. Most of the learning you have to do it yourself reading the textbook, but you still have to show up for the iClicker questions. Her quizzes are confusing, you have to use LockDown Browser, and she won't even let you know which questions you got wrong, even for the tests.
Wouldn't recommend this professor if you don't have to take her. As long as you don't have to miss even one class then you will be fine. The workload isn't bad and she is straightforward, but not understanding at all. Even if a family member passes away you won't be excused or granted an extension.
If you are NOT striving for a degree in political science and want an easy grade to get this mandatory credit out of the way, do not take this professor. You will learn in this class if you want to pass it, but her mandatory lectures are a major snooze fest. Her quizzes and tests are challenging and annoying to take because of the lockdown browser.
Go to tutoring! They provided about 70% of the answers during tutoring. If you are able to make all the tutoring sessions, then it should be an Easy A. Otherwise yeah, it's a rough class. Strict on the deadlines, and her iClicker questions can be difficult if you are not paying attention or actively taking notes.
Miss Singh's class was an experience -- you had to read, and read a lot, if you want to pass. I mean it. I did not pass because I did not read. You HAVE to attend lectures -- those questions within the lecture will drop your grade, as well as your attendance. Very focus-heavy. If you are taking this class, prepare to put the work in.
Straight forward teacher - very organized! No pop quiz, no papers to write. She makes the lectures very interesting even if you are not a political science student. Must do your share of work if you want to excel. I took both classes with her and would not mind taking another course with her again.
Enjoyed her lectures! I decided to change my major to Poli Sci after taking both classes with her. She has a way of making the material interesting to understand. If you don't want to work for your grade then don't take her class. Not for slackers!
Great teacher! Cares about students success. That is why she explains everything in details. I kind of slacked off in the first part of the semester. But due to multiple quizzes, tests and iclicker points, I was able to get a high B. Textbook is not easy but keep up with her lectures. Do your work and you will be fine.
