For being the chair of the program, he lacks any form of work ethic. His marking is either done by his RA, automatically through online means, or he gives you a random grade. He doesn't listen to your concerns and does whatever he wants. Our exam was online and MC. I had 95 going into exam. got a 58 on exam because it was poorly designed.

he does not take the students seriously.. being the chair and even as a prof, he does not know what is going on with other classes (repeats things we've learnt in previous years) and is extremely unorganized and confusing. he does not show respect for anyone in his class. i dread 804.

As a person, he is a nice guy and he's a good theorist but not in the technology field, colour may be his thing, teaching isn't. The sick part is you can attend his class three times in a term and come out with an A. Waste of time and money, learned 0!

The marks given are the most unexpected, your expecting a 75-80 % but end up with a 45 on the special project and simple experiment, most people have had the same problem, this year the class average is at a 60%! There is limited reasoning behind it, you cannot see him in office hours since he is always busy. He doesnt explain assignments at all!

I don't normally post ratings here but wow, beware of this guy. Most vague assignments ever and won't clarify when you ask him for help. Be prepared to ask classmates what is going on. Gets confused by his own instructions and will tell you to do something and then say he doesn't know how to do it and to Google it. So unprofessional.

Abhay doesn't really teach well. Often shows to have favourites, and if you're not, good luck. He shows to enjoy the course but doesn't teach much. He says he cares for students but never for once, has he ever offered help and uses office hours to complain and be rude to you. Avoid if possible.

Not a good prof, if you can avoid him then do it. He doesn't really teach you anything, he just gives you in class projects and expects you to know what to do. When you ask questions his responses are not helpful such as "what do you think you should do?" I have to say, he knows what he is doing but he gets frustrated easily and is full of himself

Abhay Sharma loves the content and teaches it with enthusiasm. But he is not clear and if you ask questions he gets insulted saying we should read the instructions. Instructions are vague, and require the students to figure it out instead of teaching you.

Assignment instructions are extremely ambiguous and he often deduct marks for things not mentioned on any marking schemes. Very pretentious attitude and hesitates to help. Sometimes makes assignments pass or fail and will fail you for the smallest of details

Mistakes aren't tolerated in this class. He HUMILIATES and PUNISHES you severely if you mess up. Screw up one project? Guess what the next two projects are an automatic 0. He doesn't provide any help in class and won't let you receive help from the TA's. No notes, no help, no contact unless in person. How am I not going to make mistakes?I'm baffled

Pretty much the same as every other review on this page. Just want to add that he often gets distracted by his own temper, wasting time by ranting on and berating other students when they try and get a better understanding of the content.

As other reviews have stated, he does know his stuff. However, lab project instructions are very vague. He doesnt explain the instruction himself only says to look at d2L. Avoids answering questions and says to reread the text. When something doesnt work its our fault because we are on our phones, when our phones are in the cubbies. No respect.

Although he's knowledgeable in this course, he does not answer any questions you have. He has unclear instructions and TA's aren't allowed to help students so most of the time, students are struggling in lab.

An absolute embarrassment of a professor. He has the knowledge but makes it abundantly clear that he does not wish to share it with you. Completely vague instruction, rude remarks, and lack of respect towards students. You are left completely alone in lab with 0 instruction and when you get it wrong he doesn't tell you why. He creates a very hostile learning environment. Shame on Ryerson for not doing anything about this despite an overwhelming amount of complaints filed from students.

He neither respects students nor empathizes with them. Students have it hard enough with university and his course only makes things harder for them. There are no instructions on how to do any of his labs and he is never helpful. Asking him a question is pointless. He looks down on students and picks on them in front of the entire class

I started the semester thinking he's really just super passionate about colour management. But boy was I wrong. I had to watch this man slowly descend into complete madness. His instructions are vague and unclear. If he sees you doing something wrong he WILL yell at you. And pretty much degrade you. Don't know why he hasn't been fired yet.

Not a great experience in this class, felt like directions in lab were extremely unclear, he didn't explain the content or instructions. Wasn't open and kind to helping students in class when approached and expected you knew everything before class. Not a good time, and it was unfortunate because I enjoyed the course content but not the instructor.

He refused to accept a lab report just b/c it was a minute past the end of the lab. Upon requesting to accept a late submission, he didn't even consider it. About half that class couldn't finish the lab!

Abhay would rather go out of his way to not answer students' email questions by telling them to attend his office hours zoom meetings, than to actually respond to our questions in our emails. He gives off an entitled vibe, he knows he has the power over students so he would rather make that known rather than actually helping them out.

He complicates everything.. & no the industry is not as bad as he makes it seem, I have worked for 3 different companies and learned so much from my experience (0 to 100). I love this colour management course, however Abhay can really be off-putting. Any questions that come his way, he shuts off and tells them to email him instead. When we email him, he says go to his office hours/doesn't respond in a timely manner. When we go to his office hours, you get a vague response/feel stupid for asking. It's unfortunate.

Only gave him a rating of 1 because 0 is not an option. Terrible prof. Insensitive towards students home situations & makes it known. Compares our lives with his daughters life. Not everyone has parents who have good jobs to be providing for the family, or have 2 parents. So that makes us as their children step in and provide for the family too

I really like this course, but I hate attending class because of Abhay. He often makes students feel stupid when we answer his questions incorrectly. We are students and learning, obviously we will provide wrong answers as that is part of being a student who's learning. But he doesn't understand that and expects us to be up to his level.

Do not take any of his classes if you have the choice. Has to be one of the worst profs I've ever had, not because of his teaching, but because of how he acts and regards himself when compared to others. Also, nonsensical grading criteria and conceited lecturing on what students did wrong while providing no criteria or rubric is, just fantastic.

Never had to deal with such an abrasive individual. His classes are unavoidable as they are Core GCM courses. Be prepared to watch him rudely interact with guest speakers and students alike. He has a superiority complex and will say some outrageous things during lectures. Overall, the class is not hard, but it the least enjoyable thing.

If you have the chance then don't take his class. Horribly rude and refuses to admit his mistakes. He might have knowledge on the topic he teaches but you'd be better off learning from a 3-year-old. If I could give him a 0 I would.

Imma be honest bruh. This guy is not chill at all. He lays his course out very organized and that's kinda the vibe. But then he literally makes no sense dawg. Like you be reading the assignments and the criteria just ain't adding up.

He does not care about his students at all. Don't bother going to his office hours. He will ridicule you, yell at you, and make you feel little for an hour. Not only wasting your time, but finding no resolution to the problem. There has been petitions made and tons of emails to the GCM Chair to get him fired, yet nothing has happened.

His grading criteria is not clear. States what we are being marked on but will take marks off for things that are NOT mentioned in the grading criteria even though you did everything correct.

I feel so bad for any guest speaker that took the time to attend our lectures. He acts superior to everyone including the guest speakers. The way he cuts them off when they are speaking and the way these guest speakers body language and facial expressions are when he speaks to them clearly shows how uncomfortable and irritated they all are by him.

DIsgusted by Abhay's behavior, I've never seen a prof disrespect their guests and students so consistently. He is smart, and he is detailed in his teaching, but my god is he rude to his guests. Constantly interrupts, leads the conversation when he doesn't get the answer he wants, and treats his guests like instruments rather than people.

I am a serious student who strives to succeed in the classroom, unfortunately, Prof Sharma makes that impossible. Through a semester of unclear assignments that leave him the ability to doc marks due to the vague criteria set in place, I have begun to wonder how this man is qualified to teach at any level. He literally has no criteria when it comes to assignments but marks strict and deducts points off the most tedious things. Not only that but he'll throw salt on it and gives you a nasty feedback where he's basically outright insulting you passive-aggressively. If that's not an amazing prof then I don't know what is. There's still a lot more.

He spends the first 30 min of every class belittling people's assignments. Not only is this very uncomfortable to sit through but it also provides little to no value for a majority of the class. I cannot express how little respect I have for this man and how badly I feel as he must have a lot of self hate to treat people the way he does.

I have taken Abhay's courses twice now and if I could, id goes back 3 years and enroll in a different program so I wouldn't have to deal with him and his level of smug apathy for his poor performance. I am in my 5th year at Ryerson because of Prof Abhay Sharma. It has taken me this long because I am unable to keep myself from dropping out of his class within the first 2 weeks. I have been in GCM360 for the last 3 semesters and cannot sit through this professor's classes. I would advise switching programs rather than endure him.

Professor assigns project with no rubric or anything to let us know how we get mark. Many task are just pass/fail. during online lecture, he does a weird poll during the middle of the lecture which allow us to only have 1 min to do the attendace. You just always don't know where your marks are deducted from, and he doesn't care!

This course has so much potential. The content learn & the assignments we do can be quite fun & interesting. The only thing that is holding this course back from its full potential is abhay. Unfair grading system. Picks and chooses who to fail depending on the student and how hes feeling while marking them. Does not provide rubric for students to succeed in their assignments and has us leave his weekly lectures confused every single time. There hasnt been a single time where I have no left his lecture feeling confident about my work.

The most frustrating person ever, he will find any possible way to take away marks, throughout the semester he would always find a way to waste our time during class. He tends to get very annoyed when students ask for help, he expects every student to understand what he is saying without any questions. And he is very vague with his grading rubrics for assignments. He switched the assignments to pass/fail halfway through the semester and everyone's grades severely dropped. Even if the spelling is wrong you fail.

Made my life a living hell. Assignments were graded extremely unfairly. Racist, sexist and overall just disrespectful. He is not fit to teach and should lose his job. I actually spoke to the deans about his behaviour and encourage all students to do the same.

I would not take any courses with this prof again. His grading criteria is unclear and at the end of the day there's no genuinity within him wanting students to learn. Takes chunks off assignments for minor errors and takes 10% off attendance if a student misses 3 classes or more. Overall a nice person, but not suitable to be a university prof.

He makes it so you can only contact him 2 HOURS out of the whole week and it's only via zoom call. I got covid so I obviously couldn't because I was so sick I couldn't move or anything so I asked for an extension for a few of my projects, every other prof gave me an extension except him. He just said any sickness or accommodation discuss over zoom.

Understanding this course's assignments is easy, but the lack of clarity and pure arrogance from Abhay is making this class less enjoyable and ruining it for everyone. Abhay made this course way harder to enjoy than it needed to be. The material itself could've been super fun, but his teaching style is really discouraging. He doesn't seem to have much compassion for students, and sometimes even goes out of his way to call people out or embarrass them. It's tough to stay motivated or even want to go to his class.

This prof is like a crazy ex girlfriend you cannot get rid of. Never know what move he's going to pull next to try and screw you over. Haven't been to therapy since high school but this class send me back to counselling. Yikes

has shown favoritism within the class and if you weren't one of his class stars you werent gonna get good grades. almost always brushes you off and does not teach, only "lets us figure it out". terrible prof. makes weird jokes. very uncomfortable jokes, I'd wish for my train to shut down rather then to show up for his class.

I don't know what to say anymore about Abhay. I've had him twice and honestly, he's a really smart person but shows no compassion towards student. I pray for the next years students, he's so hard to put up with and is insufferable. My best piece of advice is to aim to get a passing grade and don't look back.

By far the worst prof i've ever had in my entire life. Gives no clear instructions. Doesn't show us how to use new and complex softwares. expects us to “FIGURE IT OUT” instead of teaching. Doesn't answer questions. left our lab to go to a movie??? Has no compassion for students. He thinks the world revolves around him. blames for comp malfunctions
