Good guy
Don't skip class or you can miss some potentially helpful notes. Course is hard, but the professor is a good dude. One of the most genuine professors I've seen in a while.
I really enjoyed his class. His tests are hard, but if you study enough, an A is possible. He will give occasional extra credit, so be sure to attend all classes. Don't be afraid to ask questions, he's very approachable and treats students with respect.
Really good teacher. Put a lot of effort into making sure we were prepared. It's important to attend class though. No need for the book in this class though.
Professor Biswas is excellent. Makes everything very clear for students. Do not buy textbook for class. Not needed and waste of money. Key to getting good grade is MEMORIZING LECTURE NOTES!!! If you memorize notes, you'll get good grade. I did and got an "A" He gives 30-35 extra credit points. However, tests still tricky. Class was great.
great professor, very helpful, exams are based on lecture notes and examples only. do not buy book. need to attend all classes because he takes attendence and gives extra credit based on this info. hard to fail if you study lecture and attend class
This teacher is overrated. Sure, he does know his stuff, entertaining & is very organized but I didn’t get that personal touch from him. He tends to be a little wordy on slides & the tests are a bit tricky. I so agree with everyone else you MUST come to every class period - also don’t waste money on the book. PS - good luck “memorizing notes” There
Awesome teacher! He is very informative and easy. You don't need the text book all you have to do is study the lecture notes. Actually if you want an A, memorize the notes.
Take this class. Very easy, very clear, and you dont have to buy the book.
I enjoyed and would recommend his class. The exams follow the handouts and not so much the textbook. The quizzes are a breeze. The group project paper is somewhat a load.
Great teacher; i learned a lot!
Nice guy, good professor. Talks fast & you miss some things. Found myself so busy copying the notes that I didn't get to listen as closely as I would like. Good sense of humor. Tests are a little tricky, sometimes there were two correct answers (in my opinion). He gives extra credit for attendance. I got an A but had to work for it (which is fair).
This guy is a total jerk. Constantly bashed the school and tried to make himself look like he was so important. Most of the class hated his guts by week 3.
Very nice guy. But is exams are not easy. Gives questions that are a little tricky. Don't listen to anyone who says the book is not necessary. In order to get an "A", you need to read the chapters and take good notes.
Very easy class. He's a great professor, and you DON'T need to buy the book. Just study his notes. Attend class because he gives you extra credit points.
Abhijit is a pretty good professor and has a great sense of humor. He gives up to 30 points extra credit per semester (so make sure you attend class!). I attended every class and had all the notes and somehow could not get above an 80% on the tests (as most students couldn't) even though I thought I did much better, so the tests are tricky.
Best prof i've had at wayne. Take this class. Make sure you come to class, study his notes, you'll get an A, it's not as hard as people make it seem. Don't buy the book.
Abe is an AMAZING professor. Not just one of the best I have had at Wayne, but anywhere. He has TONS of experience in the field. DO NOT buy the book but DONT miss a class. He gives you all of the slides ahead of time with blanks, you just have to GO and fill them in. Easy A if you just GO to class and STUDY.
Would not recommend taking this professor. His exams are a bit tricky. Always felt there were two correct answers. However, he was funny at times.
Information is to much to consume, especially when points are based on three test.
Would not recommend him to my worst enemy. His exams are very tricky. He does give extra points for attendence.
This was my favorite class and professor I have EVER had. The exams were not the easiet part of the semester, but just showing up to class is enough to get an A. He is very interesing and uses real life examples that are easy to remember and relate to.
Great teacher! Funny enthusiastic, and gives extra credit just for attendance!Awesome!Go to class, don't buy the book and fill in the slides from blackboard during lectures! he is awsome!Helpful and caring,he really wants you to succeed!Just show up and get your notes!Best teacher I've ever had! he has a gift an he's sharing it with his students!
Good teacher, good lectures, good humor, he is just great! The leactures did not bore me at all,he kept it alive, interactive and interesting! Tests a little tricky, but he offers extra credit if u attend,so don't miss your chance for an A people!Go to class and the rewards will come.He gave extra credit for valentine's day!what more do u want??grea
Good prof - takes some of the pain out of stat analysis...
Great teacher. keeps it interesting, tests are tricky- but extra credit is offered. Attend all classes and you'll do fine. DON'T buy the book-as his tests are all right out of his notes (half of the questions are based on his examples). Take really good notes, pay attention, and go to all classes and you'll get at the very least a "B". Good Class!!
If you have the opportunity to take a class with him, do it. No book is needed to pass his exams, just go to class and take some good notes. His class was the only one I've ever been able to sit through without wanting to kill myself. Cool & funny professor.
You need to come to EVERY class. you dont need the book. he just goes over powerpoints and takes questions right from there. This class is what you put into it. He's an awesome teacher. No papers to write or homework. Just 3 exams. Either you study and pass or you dont and fail the choice is yours. Gives bonus points but doesnt curve!
His tests questions seem like they all have 2 or more right answers hence why they are tricky like all the others have stated. I studied real good for all tests and still got C's on them but extra credit bumped my final grade to a B. Hes helpful and open to questions but don't expect an A in his class because of hard m/c tests.
Prof. Biswas is the best. He knows so much about marketing and is really passionate about it. He is so funny and makes his lectures interesting. You never use the book. Come to class, take good notes, study those notes, and you will do more than fine on the tests. He offers a lot of extra credit too. Take him if you can!
Very good and master in subject. Attendance is must and have o work with him to get a good grade. I liked his class and learned good in 7450 subject.
Excellent Prof. Knows his material well. It is a lot of memorization. Tons of Extra credit is offered, only 3 exams including final, just write down everything he says, you'll never need the book, and you'll get an A. memorize his examples and brief conceptual knowledge. Funny too. A Funny guy. Tests are not too bad.
The exams were multiple choice A though E fifty questions . five choices instead of four made the exams a little more difficult than it should have been. This marketing course should have been an introductory course which it is but is not treated like one.
Great class and one of the best profs -enthusiastic, funny, helpful, caring- at this school. Grading scheme is 3 tests and he gives tons of easy bonus points. Listen in class, study from his ppt slides, and tests are a breeze.
This teacher is Awesome. He knows his stuff. U don't need the book. Must attend the class!! But hes easy to listen to and he wants particapation. The exams are okay. A little hard for a intro class, but theres bonus pts to help your grade. He is funny! And if you like CARS he makes a TON of references (MINICOOPER!)!!
i loved Dr. Biswas' class! he's funny, knowledgeable, experienced, and he's sorta cute for an older guy. you don't have to use the textbook as long as you go to all the classes and pay atention. and he gives a lot of bonus points. i recomend using flashcards to study
Prof Biswas is one of the best professors I have ever had at Wayne State. He grades fairly and gives lots of extra credit. You must attend every lecture if you are going to pass because he gives a lot of examples that are on exams. Study and you will be fine. Love his lectures, downside is he always goes the entire lecture time, but great great guy
Dr. Abe is one of the nicest professors at WSU & looks good for his age. He is more like a mentor and a father figure than a professor. There are NO HWsand three exams so basically if you fail them, you fail the class. & three hour long class is tough to sit through, but he makes it interesting using cars as examples for all his points. Love Dr A
Teaches from old power points that need updating. Your whole grade is based on three tests and they are all insanely hard. He makes it seem that attendance is mandatory yet this will not help your grade. To me this class seemed to be a resource pool for his grad students to conduct research surveys. I would not recommend.
Lecture are excellent and he is approachable. Hoewever, study guide does not help. Questions are too detailed and tricky. He posts slides online only partially finished (IDK you'd expect him to want us to know everything?). The exams were difficult, No book, but Id rather take exams based on it because I can reread the whole text for exams.
Definitely THE best teacher at Wayne State. Prof Biswas almost made me switch majors until I remembered that I don't like marketing. I can honestly say that there was not a single dull moment in this class. There are only 3 tests. All material reviewed in class, you don't need a book. Only recommendation to the Prof is to review before tests!!
Exams are difficult. Professor Biswas gives excellent lectures. You need to practice the problems he gives in class because those will be on the final.
Mr . B is a good professor. However, he makes this class way more difficult than it needs to be. His exams are tough and you really have to know the material in detail. Do not take him unless you have to.
Prof Biswas was absolutely one of my favorite professors in my 4 years here. Don't need the book, just GO TO LECTURE, write down how to do all the example problems he does in class (because the ones on the exam are almost exactly the same), study the slides, and you'll get an A. Simple. Plus, he's extremely passionate about the subject.
Biswas was great! The second half of this class is essentially a repeat of BA3400, relatively easy. If you show up to class and participate you should succeed.
Took the 4 week course. Dr Biswas is by far the best prof I've had at WSU thus far. He is passionate & his lectures keep you interested. All around great guy & wants to see his students succeed. You must go to every class. Tests are hard but group projects and homework will make up for points lost on tests.
Professor was easy and was always engaged. Just do your work and you will get an easy A. I will take Professor Biswas for several of my classes and he is a great professor and I highly recommend him to anyone.
Two exams, the final was not what I expected. We shouldve been allowed to use cheat sheet on the final. Beware of 8-10 pop quizzes. Beware of his lectures to have slides that are blank and you must type in whats missing. Beware of how fast he goes. Wont get grades back until months later. He will fail you if you miss 3+ classes.
Dont listen to these other reviews - everything they mentioned was IN THE SYLLABUS. He is a fair grader, gives study guides, and cares about students who care. If you skip, he wont save you. Project is tough but he brings in his grad students to help you if you need it. He is always accessible. The final was tough but he curved a ton.
Dr. Biswas is an excellent professor and knows his stuff. I was required to take the 4-week course which I was dreading. It was definitely an intense four weeks, but Dr. Biswas made it interesting and engaging. You definitely need to work hard in this course, but if you attend classes and study you'll earn a fair grade.
Prof. Biswas is an awesome professor. He is very funny and engaging with class. He gives out a lot of extra credit which was helpful. This class was mainly focused around statistics, and was extremely back heavy (assignments all in the last month). One final group project which he gives plenty of class time to work on. He's really great!
Biswas says it's a "back half" class day one and MEANS that. Had 89% all semester ended with a 77. Girl in my group 98% up until the final and final project. Last 3 weeks of class make up the hardest part.
Unreasonably difficult final exam that he will not prepare you for. Be prepared to take a hit on your GPA if you are a straight A student. He grades projects, quizzes & tests with the highest level of scrutiny. Study guides are very little help. He lectures from start to finish and creates test questions with no regard for his lack of teaching.
Prof Biswas is truly knowledgeable about various topics. Also, he is extremely engaging and interactive, who is willing to have any type of discussion during class. Class attendance is mandatory because exam contents come out from the lecture itself(cases and theories) that requires comprehension. Strong recommended!
GREAT professor with over 30 years worth of knowledge in the subjects of marketing and business. Everything is clearly laid out in the syllabus - a midterm and a final. This is a back-end heavy course, with a big project due during finals week. Being present in class is very important if you want a good grade. He is unforgiving to those who skip.
If I put in more effort, I would've passed with a B. However, there was minimal effort put in by the professor to encourage students to succeed. Independence is definitely important, but he did not care for helping. You might go from a 100% to a 70% within the last two weeks so be aware of how heavy the workload is.
Prof. Biswas is definitely a tough grader. You have to participate in every class to pass because the material is hard too. Both exams are tough and agree with the other comments that the last three weeks of the class (group project) is an important chunk of your grade - work on that part hard.
His class only graded on 3 exams which only comes from what he teaches. Hard Exams! If you fail one exam, you are failing the class.
3 exams, no hw. attendance is not mandatory. DO NOT TAKE HIM because your grade consists of 3 exams ONLY. 50 questions, all 2 points, and its the hardest tests ever. he gives study guide but they are useless. do not take him or you will probably fail, i barely passed
PLEASE do not let these ratings fool you, this class is a joke with only 3 grades the entire semester. it is extremely difficult because the lectures are so general and the tests are very very specific mind you not having enough time to even take it in the first place. he will not offer any extra assignments to help. JUST RUN AND DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!
do not take his class! the entire class is based on 3 exams and nothing more. if you fail one, you're done for the entire semester. the exams are so difficult and the study guide doesn't even help. REGRETTTTT
graded by 3 exams, no hw no papers. all 3 exams were very hard and did NOT come from his lectures. his lectures sounded so simple but the exams were way harder and made no sense. DO NOT TAKE him unless u have to. he is not worth getting a bad grade or failing
Grade is based on 3 exams. Luckily we got him to give a few extra assignments which he was hesitant on. He RANDOMLY gives extra credit to students who show up to class because he realized a lot werent showing up. He uses up the whole 2.5 hours, and gives a back story to every single point. Hes funny and nice, not a bad guy at all.
Do not listen to the recent negative reviews. Yes you are graded on three exams but he gives the information in lecture. He cares about his students and wants everyone to do well. He even added extra credit. He is a solid professor and the people that are failing were mostly concerned with making fun of him in the groupchat than learning marketing.
I am a great student. This will be my first C because we will only be graded on 3 exams, the professor is a poor teacher, and this professor does not care about the difficulties of remote learning. As a marketing major I was so excited to take this class but my interest and excitement was ruined by this class. TAKE A DIFFERENT PROF TRUST ME!!!!!!!
This is during COVID. It seemed like it was his first time doing online classes. He didn't know how to use zoom and our lectures weren't recorded until 3 weeks before the final. The only grades you got in the class were 3, 2 exams and the final. No attendance, you had to fill out ppts during his lectures. He wasn't a bad professor, just a bad time.
Prof. Biswas is a very funny and outgoing professor at best. I feel as though he struggled a lot during the online remote learning, class was synchronous however attendance was taken during random weeks towards the end of the semester for extra credit. Only 3 exams all semester for a total of 300 points all year, no HW/essays/projects.
Your grade is determined on three tests. Might hand out additional extra credit points, but don't count on it. Doesn't record lectures, which is where the majority of information is. Uses obscure real-life examples that will be on the test, but doesn't put them on the Powerpoint. Answers emails infrequently and indirectly. Avoid this class PLEASE.
Biswas is a total jerk! His lectures are SO boring. His test questions have five answer options instead of four. Why make an exam more difficult than normal? He is rude and disrespectful to his students. The only reason why I gave him two points is because he curved exams and offered extra credit. His notes and exams are barely comprehensible.
Quite possibly the worst class I've taken thus far. Student were provided very little resources for learning. The PowerPoints we were given had very surface level information, this made it very difficult to study for and do well on exams. We begged for more resources and he gave us nothing and continued with his lecture full of worthless examples.
This class was more difficult than it shouldve been. He gave extra credit and curved exams but you could still fail if you mess up on exams. Hes funny and chill but not so great at teaching during a pandemic. Lack of understanding and empathy for everyone who is taking the class, given the circumstances.
I don't even know where to begin. I have done so much studying in this class but my grade doesn't reflect it. I don't know what more I could've done. Way too hard for an intro class. If you're not a marketing major & just need the credit, you're better off taking another professor. Don't recommend him for anything. It's like he wants us to fail.
He was a fun & nice teacher in class but not very adaptable to online. There were 3 exams & no HW. We convinced him to record his lectures to compensate for online learning but he took them all down a week before the final exam because he was trying to reward kids who attended class I attended every class & studied but I struggled every exam.
Pretty funny and nice guy, but avoid this guy like the plague. Your grade is out of 300 points, which comes from 3 tests during the semester, including the final. Very lecture heavy and nearly impossible to get an A. Avoid unless you absolutely have to take him.
Do not take this class with Biswas. I like him as a person and this review will not be biswas (get it?). Anyways, his class is based off of 3 tests, and they are impossible. He did give us extra credit, but that does not make up for how hard his tests are. I am a marketing major (but not a marketing management major) and this class scared me.
I think Biswas was trying his best to adapt to online learning. However, this took a toll on his students because he never fully got around maximizing the potential of his online classroom. Additionally, some exam questions were purposely crafted to trip us up, which made every exam feel more like a guessing game than a real test of knowledge.
Dr. Biswas is a great guy with real world experience and research. His concepts are applicable to the real world but the way he goes about lecturing is confusing. He makes too many irrelevant examples which made his points hard to grasp. He was satisfied with a 70% class average... meaning the class was struggling.
Hey guys, so if you're here that means you're researching if this is a good teacher to take. Let me be honest and say HELL NO. Do not take him EVER. This is a WARNING TO ALL STUDENTS!!!!! STAY AWAY FROM HIM!!! Every terrible review is true and maybe in the past he was a great teacher but not anymore. Take anyone else and you been warn my friend.
Had him for marketing at the UWindsor. He made classes fun and interactive by including loads of examples. We had 2 exams for this course both of which were MCQs. He was really understanding and would try to be accommodating to our needs. If you thoroughly go through class notes and his live classes you can get good grades. Would take him again.
Lectures a bunch but very likeable. Available basically anytime outside class and likes to give extra credit
Dr. Biswas was an amazing prof! I had him for MKT 2300, just memorize and understand the lecture notes and you will do fine on exams. Make sure to go to class because he gives so many extra credit opportunities for those who show up. Many of the in class examples are on exams as well. Would definitely take him again!
He lectures for the full 2.5 hours. Your entire semester grade is based on 3 exams. The exams come straight from his lecture. When he posts the slides from the lecture they are half filled out so you have to take notes or watch the whole lecture, those are the things on the exam. Exams are very hard, on zoom you have to keep your camera on.
The professor was nice and gave interesting lectures, but the class structure was awful. No hw, 3 difficult exams with 5 answer choices and group project at the end. Would take someone else for mkt
He offered a ton of extra credit but his exams were difficult. However, I thought He was knowledgeable of the subject given the difficulty of the data analysis part of the class. He was ALWAYS available outside of class anytime. He lectures the entire time but still made it enjoyable by explaining further if needed.
He lectures for the full 2.5 hours, to the literal minute. He does make boring topics interesting though, not unbearable to listen to his lectures because he is pretty funny and relatable. This was a challenging class with challenging concepts and exams. He does not give you everything on a platter, you must study a lot at home.
Do the extra credit and attend every class. His lectures are good and he will do whatever it takes to help you understand the material. The first half of the semester is easy, the second half will take a lot more effort. There is a group project at the end and a final that will both determine your overall grade. Pay attention and ask questions.
Not as bad as what ppl made him to be. Tough grader. It's either you know it or you don't, those who don't are the ones who are upset at prof. Midterm was easy, finals you need to study hard. Many extra credit opportunities. Group project kind of lack clarity and he doesn't provide feedback. Pray you have good team members. Lots of quizzes.
