He e-mails sample tests through WebCT and uses 20-30 questions from that. Also helps to go to class and take notes. No attendance policy; three tests and a final that is NOT comprhensive; he averages the top three tests scores at then end of the semester to obtain your final grade.
Good class. Teacher gives practice test before the test.. If you study the practice test before the test you will pass... Easy "A"
Did not like the class one bit.You couldnt understand a word out of his mouth and talked in riddles. Gave you a sample test but the questions on the test were hidden. Would not take again especially at 8 AM - very boring.
Very hard class. Don't expect an easy A (no multiple choice here). If you study hard than you can do well, otherwise your in trouble.
Class was very boring but if you study the sample test you'll done fine
He is a good professor and really wants his students to do well. The material is pretty hard and not everything that will be on the actual test is on the sample test, so make sure you study everything..but sometimes you get lucky so def. study the sample test for sure!! Hes funny and nice and relates ideas to make them easier!! I rec. him!
This is not an "easy A" but possibly an "easy B" if you study for the tests. You need to go to class although he does not take attendance. He is pretty funny so going to class isn't a bore. There are 3 tests and a final. He ended up dropping our lowest test grade.
The material can get confusing but he really does try to make his students understand it. He tells funny stories and jokes to make the class a little more interesting. He gave practice tests but everything wasn't always included so make sure you study EVERYTHING!
He's really nice and really funny! You can tell Dr. Roy really loves his work and tries to get the students to care too. Very fair and as long as you go to class you should do fine.
Great guy. He takes the time to make sure you understand the material. Not to mention he is HILARIOUS! I got an A in the class by following along in the reading and paying attention. I strongly recommend Dr. Roy, not only will you get an A, but you will also learn!
Very good professor. Answers your questions until you understand clearly. Tests are over your notes. Has a review session before the test and goes over everything that is going to be on the test. I would def take him again.
Not an easy class, but he keeps it interesting. He jokes around a lot and he is very passionate about what he teaches. He tries to make sure everyone understands everything before moving on. Attendance isn't mandatory but you need to go. Not an easy A but not a hard A either. I loved him as a teacher and would definitely take him again.
This teacher is one thats passionate about his lectures. He covers everything that will be on the test throughout the semester and alot with a sample test. Attendance isnt required but if i didnt go to class I probably would have been lucky to get a B. It isnt an easy A by any means but definetly possibly with a fair amount of studying.
Very difficult class. But Dr. Roy is a great professor. He gives you all the questions to the test about a week before so its very easy to study. The only drawback to this class is the amount of time you have to spend studying, and some days you will walk out not knowing what he just talked about. I reccomend him, but its not an easy A.
Very hard class, not an easy professor. Does not just give you the answer and wants you to figure stuff out on your own. Is very passionate about his subject but cannot explain it well to someone that has no clue about that kind of stuff... He does give you test questions about a week ahead of time but then may end up changing them on the actual tes
Great teacher...if you can understand him. KNOW HIS SAMPLE TESTS and the concepts behind each question!! They make up majority of his test. Great teacher, very very fair. Would definitely take him again :)
Although he is easily frustrated by stupid people, he is a great professor. He is definitely passionate and knowledgeable about the subject matter. Sample tests make up more than 70% of the test questions, so if you can't pull an A or B off, he's not the problem. I enjoyed the class.
Great Professor.Likes to involve students in the lecture and explains material thoroughly.
Great professor, really funny. Explains everything over & over again if necessary. Gives you a break from school material by telling you funny stories. Strongly recommend him to everyone!Gives the questions for the tests in advance and explains everything thorouhgly.
Cool guy. He is smart, funny, and smokes stogies. Attend class, pay attention, STUDY SAMPLE TESTS.
This has to be the funniest teacher teaching at KSU. What a cool dude! The materials are pretty hard but if you study the sample test he gives, you'll get an "A", guarantee!
If you're interested in the subject, this class could be very easy for you. It was not my case, so I had to drop it. It's a class where either you love it and get a 100 or hate it and have to drop. 2 tests are write out and draw out answers and the other is multiple choice. Great teacher, though.
Not very helpful at all, wrote him cuontless e-mails ad still never replied back. Did all the sample tests but still wasn't enough the average in my class is a 75 with a curve so obviously doesn't care. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!!!
Great prof! Very engaging, entertaining and makes a mundane subject interesting. Tells jokes and stories unrelated to the subject but I think he knows you need a breath of fresh air. Study the sample tests!!! He also happens to be quite cute ;)
Very brilliant guy and very entertaining. Attendance not mandatory, and the notes aren't clear anyway, so I never felt like I missed too much when I was absent. Read the class topics in the book to do well. Practice tests VERY HELPFUL. It's true, he doesn't reply to emails. Overall, easy class, and I recommend him.
Really cool guy, great at teaching. HOWEVER, there are only 3 tests, no homework, no other assignments. The tests are REALLY hard. The only way i got an A was by reading the ENTIRE book. Study guides helped only for 50% of test.
I took this guy last semester...he was amazing. I love economics, and he really brought it to life for me. Reading the book, coming to class, and taking the study tests are necessary for a good grade. Challenging, yes, but VERY educational (unlike some classes, you actually leave this one with knowledge of the subject matter), and also a bit fun.
He is one of the best Professors I've come across. A real hottie!!!
Read the book if you don't go to class. His notes are crystal clear and right out of the book. He's got a great sense of humor and funny expressions. Your grade is 4 tests--that's it. His sample tests help a ton, though. VERY helpful.
wow! Very Good Teacher, Very Fair at Grading. Gives extra credit. You will work your behind off, but it is worth it.
Professor Roy is difficult to understand at times and hard to follow. Gave up on going to class a quarter through the semester and just read the textbook... ended up with a 99 for the class. The textbook is absolutely essential. Strictly lecture class. Grades come exclusively from 4 tests. Gives MAJOR extra credit by curving tests (20+ points)
simply amazing. 2nd best teacher at KSU behind the legendary Randy Goodwin. Definetly recommend.
Attendance is not mandatory but reading the text is essential. 4 tests, the final being worth 40%
He is a fun teacher. His notes are really clear. If you want to pass his class make sure that you do all the review. Self-educate yourself also. Attendance is not mandatory, but make sure that you study. There are 4 Tests and he drops the lowest test grade. Do Your Best! Good luck!
Very cocky, likes to belittle you. Attendance is not required but dont miss a single class. Tough material, wouldnt recommend
Absolutely the worse teacher I have had in 3 years of college. His lectures are him reading the titles and headlines of the chapter. He tells people to ask him questions, and when they do, he embarrases them or gets mad. And his tests have an extremely low test average. Terrible professor!
He is awful...don't take him..doesn't help..can't teach..if you need to read the book..then why go...!
Do not take him.He seems to teach very well in class until you get 2 the test and its about the OPPOSITE of everything that was on you study guide. He can be rude at times and comes off as if he doesn't care much or understand what being a student is like.He talks about his APPLE products all day long.No help at all. Thanks Roy for nothing!!!
He is rude and not a good teacher.
Wow, he was not as bad as these comments are making him out to be. If you actually put in a little effort, study, and expect him not to hand you an A, then you will do fine, and you shall learn, like a good college student should.
This guy is not that bad.All you have to do is read the chapters and pay a little attention the chapters are not even long. He gives you pre tests before every test and he goes over them in class. It's not a walk in the park but it is definately not hard.Just do the pre tests and read the chapters and you should get a B.
Great teacher. GO TO CLASS. I didn't get the book and did fine. He gives you pre-tests that give you EVERYTHING you need to know. The key is to go to class!
Really nice teacher and VERY helpful. He is entertaining and has a good sense of humor. Tests are difficult but he will do everything possible to help his students. I recommend him!
He is a little arrogant, but he also is EXTREMELY knowledgeable, and really wants the class to learn so as to prepare them to compete in the job market.Although it's not mandatory, attendance REALLY helps you understand the material. Very helpful during office hours and is a pretty cool guy just doesn't like lazy students.
He is arrogant and does not teach at all. The first 2 tests are him "teaching" theories where you memorize his notes. But then when you take the test and repeat what he had in his notes he gives bad grades. Would not recommend this guy. Awful experience.
Fantastic professor. Interesting material. Go to lectures, take notes, study hard, and you'll have a nice A waiting for you at the end of the term. And he's quite nice to look at. :)
Easy class if you attend and take notes. You must go to every class and read chapters to keep up. Only 3 tests. If you slack off you will fail. I learned a lot.
One of the most difficult classes I've ever taken as KSU. If you have a photographic memory, you'll be ok. I don't. You'll cover and extreme amount of material for each exam. I got a B in the class with all the extra credit and the curves on the exams. I deserved a D even though I studied studied VERY hard for each exam.
Beware! I'm an acctg. major with a 4.0 and this was the first class I had to withdraw from ever! Syllabus says tests are short answer format but they are blank pages requiring you to derive and prove entire economic theorems! Please don't take unless you are an econ major and have that knowledge base. Horrible teaching style also!
If you are just going to school to past time, then this may not be the right professor for you. But if you are in class to learn, he is the best. I have to admit that this is the first class in which I spent over 60% of my time studying. You can't afford to miss a class, neither can you skip a day without studying. I learn a lot from this class
At first i thought this professor was going to be very difficult. But i actually enjoyed him!! I am NOT an econ person, but i made a high A in his class. His tests are easy if you study from the book. His sample tests are helpful but you cant rely on them. If you want an A on the test, you have to read the chapters a couple times :)
Easiest class ever. Buying the book was a mistake. Come to class, take notes, do the practice exams. I didn't read the book once and I got 100s on all 3 tests. No homework just tests. He's willing to reexplain something if you don't understand and gives interesting and funny examples. Highly recommend, especially if econ isn't your thing.
Very hard class but I learned so much. Smart professor. You have to study and attend every class or you will fail. Tests are hard but fair. 3 tests total. I recommend this class if you are willing to study hard.
Not genuine or helpful. Condescending tone of voice when he feels you have asked a stupid question. I would not recommend this professor.
There are 3 tests. He says you need to study the book, but just show up every class and take notes, and you should be fine. Study hard. pay attention, he goes fast. He is not good at answering questions and can make you feel stupid at times, plus his jokes are terrible.
Easy class. I did not attend after the first class. He gives you practice exams That are pretty much the exact test. Just practice those and you will pass. I got an 88, another 88, now I'm waiting for the last exam.
Hardest class of my life!!! He is a great teacher though. A true genius! Attendance wasn't mandatory, but if you miss you will just fall behind. Everyone who took the class passed. First test is multiple choice(crazy hard), second test is all essay(insanely hard), last test is take home and definitely easier than the other too.
Extremely boring class, he made me despise econ! I hated going to class and he is not a good teacher but his study guides are exactly like the tests.
He is a wonderful teacher in more ways than one. He is patient and kind, much easier to get than the book. He is available even if it's about the test. Those who fail his classes are lazy. I made a C on the first test but with a little studying I made an A in the class. If I could I would give him 5 peppers (HOTNESS!!). He is a true caring genius.
He was a good teacher overall. He liked to try and keep everyone interested and would sneak an equation in here and there. You are going to have to study, but that's just because of the material itself.
Extremely not helpful, I recommend that you definitely not take this class...it's not easy, and you have to study but at the same time all his tests are mostly graphs and numbers instead of information and vocabs...
He is very knowledgeable about the subject, but I find his class absolutely boring. 3 tests; He focuses on equations. I studied straight from the book, but it was pointless. Study his study guides; don't buy the book! Attendance not mandatory, but he does not post notes online, so take good notes!
This is a class for people who have an excellent understanding of economics and the calculations that go along with it. Even if you have taken Math 1101, do not be fooled this is about understanding economics, not just formulas. Teacher talks fast, writes illegibly and is unapproachable.
A hands-off professor. He is somewhat standoffish. You are own your own to learn the material. His lectures are from the book and are kept interesting by a little comedy. There are 3 exams for the entire grade, no other grades. It was not an easy A. I would not take him again and would not recommend him unless you are a self-learner.
Dr. Roy seems to be a kind man with a sense humor. However, his class not easy by any means. For his grades he only gives 3 tests. We asked for extra credit and he wouldn't give any, because he said he didn't have time. He doesn't always answer emails either. Yes ladies in my opinion, he is pretty easy on the eyes, if that's important to you.
Really boring teacher, but class is easy enough. Don't bother showing up too much - doesn't take attendance and sends out practice tests. 3 tests are only grades, no extra credit. Not the easiest A unless you put the effort in.
Good professor but don't expect to get a break if your .773 tents of a point off from getting a higher grade he curves all test and there is only 3 he is good and fair
avoid him if you are seeking an A. 3 test about 75q each, no powerpoints just him rambling on for an hour.read text if u want clarity, he draws lots of graphs, which is his only method of explanation. he curves simply because everyone is failing. dont know how he gets good teaching slots...Avoid.
He doesn't post anything online or respond quickly to emails. If you go to class and look over his practice test(they are the test from previous years and very close to the test some of the same questions) His class is an easy A even with out owning the textbook.
If you study, you will be able to pass this class with a B or an A. He is very clear on the content and in my class, when he noticed everyone zoning out, he would tell a joke or a story about himself that would gain the classes' attention again. Work is needed to pass.
Not a nice guy. Does not really answer your questions or explain reasoning. I have watched him basically insult students on more than one occasion. but does curve test grades
Writes lecture notes on the board by hand. if you miss class you probably won't understand the material. Posted previous exams for use as study guides. Grade is based on 3 exams. 2 class review sessions before exams. I thought he was clear on most topics. Curves all exams. Not a bad class if you study the previous exams & notes Doesn't use the book
Doesnt take attendance, take notes for every class and you'll do fine. He has a weird sense of humor but i liked him. My class was from 5-745 and we never stayed later than 630. Three tests, multiple choice.
He's funny and explains things well, so just read over your notes. His test are extremely hard but he curves all of them.
Great Professor! Truly wishes for you to learn...can be difficult to comprehend at times but if you ask him to repeat he is more than willing to help. Have to STUDY for his exams! Cannot walk in without studying and attending class! MUST ATTEND CLASS :)
The class is confusing and he can be unapproachable when you need help. He ruined what could have been a very interesting and fun class. I do not recommend him.
Good class if you actually enjoy learning. Material can be tough and difficult to understand at times but Roy is actually a really nice guy who has no problem going over the material to help you understand. Ask Questions and understand what he is saying before you write notes. The textbook is optional in my opinion, but many found it detrimental.
Simply too much. Good teacher, heart is in the right place, but he is expecting too much academically, this is coming from a 3.9 GPA student. Even if you have fluency in advanced algebraic proofs, you would have to spend 30-40 hours a week studying to comprehend. Not to mention the models taught are theoretical and not applicable to the real world.
Nice guy, but don't take him if you have other options. Does not post anything on D2L, no study guides, no quizzes, no extra credit. Only 3 tests. The first one was REALLY hard, class average was 43. You will struggle to understand the material, and the way he teaches. No actual examples, only theory, a bunch of letters on the board and graphs.
Don't take this class if you aren't up for a challenge. Dr. Roy really makes you think - you can't just come to class and read and be done. You really have to sit down and analyze the book and class notes. Tests are fairly easy if you understand the info, but you must study hard. Also, don't ask dumb questions - he can be pretty sarcastic.
less than no personality and writes a bunch of letters and hard to read ideas on the board and expects you to know exactly what he is doing. I was actually belittled by him for taking notes instead of "taking a pic of the board".... if I knew that he didn't really want to mold people, but instead, show his intelligence, i would have dropped
It is very hard to follow along with his lectures and if you read the chapter that he is lecturing on, it will not correlate to what he is saying. His tests are short but you have to write a lot for each answer (no multiple choice). Has review days, but you have to ask questions and he may not answer them if they give answers to test problems.
I have never failed a class before and I was 4 0 student STAY AWAY if you can.
Expect to read the chapters if you want to do well on the tests. He has 3 exams that are incredibly hard. He curves them about 20 points just to bring the average up. He can sometimes be rude to those who ask questions. For a gen ed, it's ridiculously hard.
As one who has worked in academia, and an economic think-tank this professor needs to work for a research group, not a university. He does not care about the students. He makes the tests harder than necessary, and contradcits the book material constantly. He is pitching his biases. The practice tests do not reflect the exams. Cuts class frequently.
Only grades 3 test, and it is in essay format. If you do not deliver the information exactly the way he wants it your grade will suffer extremely. Hence the reason he curves his tests scores. Arrogant and talks down to students at times.
Avoid if possible. He is another think tank type professor that uses graduate level course work for undergrads. Very unhelpful and requires the book but never uses it. His tests are extremely hard.
I would NOT recommend this professor. This guy does NOT like to teach!!, he is extremely lazy, only teaches 30 minutes out of the hour and fifteen minutes of the class. He teaches you the very basic stuff and wants you must read the book otherwise you wont pass the class. 3 tests only. Gets annoyed for questions you ask. BE AWARE OF THIS GUY.
He is a tough grader. He wants you to learn and achieve from you actually trying. Topics were awesome. Just be prepared to pay attention, but overall it was an amazing class
Our overall course grade was based on 3 exams for the entire semester. He doesn't post anything online or use powerpoints. He teaches from memory, so if you ask him to repeat himself or explain something from last class he can't remember what he said. Tests are extremely difficult. Have to try to guess what he wants to hear not what is correct.
I'm an "A" student, &this class was my first "C" EVER. Your entire grade is just 3 tests. Class is just him lecturing (no ppts). I went to every class, but boring material &learned nothin. Curves 20pt per test; always made a 50 (+20). Guessed on evry answer of test &couldnt study. Only take if u don't mind a "C" and learning nothing. He's charming.
Dr. Roy was great. He was very clear from the beginning on the grading criteria of the class. I honestly didn't read much from the text. I just studied notes from his lectures for tests and passed with an A. Make sure you take good notes and do all the practice tests. If you can pass the practice tests you'll do well. He's pretty funny too!
Coming from a student with a 3.8, this teacher is the worst I've ever taken. He makes you feel stupid for asking questions, refuses to meet for office hours (he "isn't paid enough"), and grades the only three grades you get so hard that most of the class fails and he's forced to curve it. I studied more than I ever have and still had to drop.
Incredibly smart professor. Lecture heavy class, so pay attention. Challenges you to critically think and actually take notes. You will learn an incredible amount and do not be afraid to ask questions. Easily on of the best professors I have had a Kennesaw State.
take someone else if you want a good GPA. He is difficult and intolerant.
You will have a quiz every week and a few discussions. Test are super easy and he provides everything in the notes.
Stay on top of the work assigned, grasp an understanding of that material and you will do fine! Though it was an "Online" summer course, he was extremely respondent to emails! One to two quizzes each week, 2 discussion questions and 2 discussion summaries, mid-term and final. Keeping up is vital!
Tests are very hard. This is easily the hardest class I've taken in college. But he does curve them. Really smart guy, if you pay attention in class, take notes, ask questions, and understand the information you should be fine. Make sure to keep up with the lectures as he does have a tendency to go quickly and cover a lot of information.
This class is very interesting and a lot of fun. The professor will go on tangents about things at times, which can be enjoyable. He will work out the proofs for many of the concepts you learn. This was helpful with some of the intuition. When I took the course, he had generous extra credit at the end of the semester.
Dr Roy is a nice guy who really cares about your grade, and he's funny too. Two tests which are essay format and he gives you the questions on the test beforehand. NO FINAL, only a paper due at the end. Everyone did bad on the tests but he gives tons of extra credit and curves tests. Both tests are done way before semester is over so you can relax
I enjoyed this prof. His micro class is only 3 tests, so yay no homework! He posts two sample tests before each exam, and has a student led review session where you can ask questions over the sample tests. He doesn't post anything online, so going to class is necessary. He keeps it interesting by his funny personality. Book was helpful too.
The practice test sucks he gives answers but no breakdown of how to actually do them about 2/3 of the questions you can't figure out using lecture notes or the book. So you have to teach yourself which because of the way Econ works you can't actually do because you won't know what formulas or reference questions to look up. He is funny.
I took Professor Roy for the Summer online course so it was a lot of work, but his presentations and study guides were valuable. You can use them for the test and if you do the work, you will make an A. Definitely do the study guides that he provides for each week!
He's basically a genius, and really passionate about his field, so he easily gets off topic, but honestly it's super entertaining. He'll make sure you know how to do the problems and will offer plenty of review time, but you do have to show some effort.
Professor Roy is a great professor. He teaches you so that you can be a student who can make their own educated decisions in today's society. He grades off of three tests and will curve. He does not post notes on D2L so go to class, but he makes it enjoyable so just go. He gives you all the materials you need to succeed so use them and you'll pass
I don't understand why he has bad ratings. He is a great professor, and he wants what is best for his students. There are opportunities to get extra credit. With a normal amount of studying you can get an A. Funny dude too. Loves golden retrievers.
Very personable in class but material was discombobulated. Most of class revolved around writing formulas on boards and expecting us to memorize them, which was nearly impossible. Openly said the class was being taught like a grad school economics class, which would be okay but no one was familiar with preceding material we would've learned.
I have mixed feelings about him because I learned a good bit, but his grading was inconsistent and unfair. He would prefer you memorize the drawn out models instead of master a written explanation - which he doesnt share, kinda figured it out after receiving poor grades. The book also wasnt much help, he contradicted it a few times!!
He wants you to succeed but makes it clear you have to work for it. Not a class for wingin' it. LOTS of time spent studying. Material more difficult than you think and very muddled. Lectures are not much help. Most learning done on your own by studying book and quizzes. No curving/extra credit for our class. If you try, you can totally get an A.
If you're taking him online, don't do it unless it's course material you already know. His online lectures are all over the place, it's impossible to learn.
Took the class this semester. The material is interesting. the topics were well organized and the lectures were well structured. Provides plenty of opportunities to get an A.
Had him for ECON 4410. The powerpoint lecture videos were pretty good. Uses MyLab which uses lots of prep for quizzes and exams. Easy A.
It was an interesting class and he provided lots of opportunities to do well in quizzes and exams. Reasonably easy A.
Professor Roy gives study sheets for exams and the questions are on the test. Reading the book helps as well since most of the questions on the exam come directly from the text. He answers emails and is always accessible and ready to assist. I would take his course again.
i took this course in the summer as an online class. professor roy reached out to the class once at the very beginning but he did respond to emails fairly quickly. the class was based on 15 quizzes, 3 exams, and a final. he drops the two lowest quizzes and lowest exam grade.
The lectures weren't really fun, but please go to class. This semester, there was one extra credit opportunity that was given. I wouldn't have known about it If I didn't go to class. Class was pretty easy. There were weekly quizzes and two exams. You get two chances on the quiz & exam. The second attempt is similar to the first, but not the same.
One of my least favorite professors while studying here at KSU. Hardest tests I've ever taken based on the fact that there is no clear indication on what to study each week. Seems like a teacher that should never teach online because of his inability to understand the difference between classroom and online, overall horrible teacher horrible class.
His tests are VERY hard but if you put in the time and effort you will get a good grade. He does nocares about teaching the students and does not take any short cuts so be prepared for a hard class! No homework or attendance, but if you skip class you will be very far behind. Go to class!!!!!!
I stopped attending class as it honestly became sad to watch. He spent more time complaining about how 4 people weren't asking the same amount of questions as a class of 40-60. All he did was complain about how we didn't read, low attendance, etc. The second exam was MURDER. The final was easy, but I only think it was easy cause went hard on ex 2.
Don't care for his personality. Didn't help make material accessible/understandable
Mumbles through lectures, does not explain anything whatsoever. He is by far the worst teacher I have ever had and if you do not need to take his class I suggest not to. Get ready to teach yourself for the whole semester, this Professor is a certified bozo.
Heavy lectures but then he quizzes and tests over something entirely different, book more helpful, makes his own tests/quizzes but refuses to correct serious grammatical errors in questions, had to open exams and quizzes for 2 attempts because almost everyone was failing. class average on exam 1 was an F, says a lot about his teaching.
Trash
The tests in the class made is more difficult than you think and he mentioned it would have been previously.. I've never been more lost in a class than this one ever. The professor announced that the final would be harder than the midterm. Everybody failed the first exam!
No extra credit, this is the most difficult class that I have taken in my major!
No good as a professor, hardest Econ class!!
This professors exam is brutal! You are tested on a different material that the professor did not go over.
His exams are outrageously tough with unfair, high-point, tricky questions that almost guarantee failure. In addition, he provides insufficient time for exams. I'm currently taking less than 12 credits and I am still struggling in the class. I strongly discourage anyone with a busy schedule from taking this class.
The worst prof at KSU. Doesn't care about students at all. Any reason why the test were so much difficult then the quizzes and there was only 5 math questions on the exam. This professor crazy because I made a 74 on the midterm before the curve and after the curve a 99.99%( Should of gotten a 100). The class average for the midterm exam was a 45.
Adding on to the previous review, This class is unnecessarily hard. The professor also stated that the final will be harder than the midterm (class average for the midterm 45).
There is no curve. I suggest you show up and participate.
I have no idea why these reviews are terrible, Dr. Roy is very nice and very generous when it comes extra credit. I will admit his tests are difficult, but with the proper amount of time preparing and taking good notes, an A is definitely attainable. This class is math and writing heavy, but entirely possible if you're comfortable with algebra.
Professor Roy is a great professor, but beware, the content of ECON 4410 is not for the faint of heart. Make sure you have a strong understanding of mathematics before taking this class. Tests account for most of the grade, only three, but 2 were open responses which can be difficult. Lectures can be overwhelming, but Roy is very helpful. Attend!
Dr. Roy is a challenging professor, but I don't think the reviews should be as negative as they are. His teaching style forces you to actually learn, which is preferable over a professor whose class is easy but you retain nothing. He doesn't want you to fail and offers a lot of extra credit. Attend the lectures and take good notes!
This professor does not care about his students, even if you had a loved one who passed he does not care he will not help you or work with you in any sort of way, His test is hard, you can barely understand what he is saying in any of his lectures, I don't know how he became a professor.
Ridiculously hard professor. no homework to learn from, practice questions only cover half the content, hard to understand his lectures, no extra credit, no curves, no late assignments, frequent difficult quizzes. Forget hard, he made learning almost impossible. I'm Lucky I dropped his class. Take his class, and your doomed.
Professor Roy was a nice man, but not a great teacher. His lectures were disorganized and hard to follow. The exams were given through Pearson so were nothing like the quizzes or practice problems but were not proctored. Couldn't give any examples in class and laughed at students who asked questions. Not hardest to pass, just frustrating.
This class is notoriously difficult. The professor sets unreasonable exam expectations and doesn't seem to care about student success. However, the textbook and using unstuck ai can help offset the challenges.
Professor Roy's class itself was simple and passible, he drops the lowest test grade and 2 of the quizzes. HOWEVER his online lectures are so drawn out and he goes on tangents about a simple topic for 10 minutes. Very hard to stay focused on the material.
Study guides never helped for the actual exams and his lectures made it worse. Studying the book was more helpful but even then, the exam questions were sometimes out of line from what's in the textbook. No extra credit help.
