she is just adorable! i love her. i didnt do so well in her class, but i think it's just because it was her first semester teaching and it was my first college english class. she's a very nice lady. can be intimidating though. she likes having her opinion and sticks to it.. but shouldn't we all!?!?

She is very helpful if you ask her for help. You may not understand what she is saying, but she tries. I never made anything higher than a D, but she gave me a B because of all my extra questions and help from her.

Ms. Scherer is a great english teacher, her class was fun and interesting. all we did was talk about what we read and then go home and write about it. i liked it a lot.

I love her so far. She reminds me sometimes of the teacher on Harry Potter with the tea--scatterbrained, but good-hearted.

I love the fact that she is willing to step outside of the ordinary and go against common beliefs to prove her point. Anyone who doesn't like her is probably one of the people that I hate: close-minded sheep going along with the herd.

Not your everyday English professor.

One of the more colorful English teachers I've ever had the pleasure of learning from. True, she will sometimes make a leap of faith in logic, but other times she'll speak at length about something really interesting. Oh yeah, and she showed three films in my class--Lebowski, Liberty Valance, and Taxi Driver--and that took up three of 16 weeks...

She is an absolute nut. A teacher asked her what was up in the bathroom and she responded with "Just finished peeing." As far as teaching, she throws her insane ways into the lessons. We listened to Bob Dylan, for instance. My advice is to read material ahead of time because she'll love you if you participate in class discussions.

She was a very nice teacher. Some of her opinions were off the wall but unlike what someone said earlier, you can have a different opinion than she does you just must support it well. I was having trouble with my first paper and went see her and she was extremely eager to help. If you need help just ask for it!

she was slightly odd, but nothing wrong with a little strangeness because it always kept me interested!! we read books about traveling and adventure and honestly, i enjoyed them and listening to her crazy hitchhiking stories! ha! ha! she's always willing to help with papers! she's a good teacher!

I think she is great. She is a bit odd, but all good english teachers are.

One of the most pleasent classes. She not only knows her subject matter she puts it into a context that is enjoyable. I am happy she is still alive. DR. NM NY

Excellent teacher. Very enthusiastic about the material, makes the literary works fun to analyze. She thoroughly goes over each work assigned so when it comes time to write papers there is no shortage of information to grab from, unless you don't go to class or don't listen. Taking notes helps a lot also. Very, very good english teacher!

I LOVE HER SO MUCH!!!! She is a little wierd sometimes..but thats what i love about her. shes really passionate about what she teaches. If you back up your opinions she will give you a good grade. I made a B in her class. She is very nice unless your mean to her. Just participate in class and it wont be boring.

Despite what all these people are saying, She is an awesome teacher Took her class had a C in the Midterms ended up with a High B Almost An A in the end. Just study and take notes, Write essays. She Really is a great teacher and Brilliant albeit a bit out there sometimes. She over analyzes poems a lot. She is very laid back too. HATERS GONNA HATE!

I loved her. She could be a little hard to follow at times, but her class was easy. She's very laid back with deadlines and is very understanding with her students. I would definitely recommend her.... I made an A in the class with minimal effort.

Excellent reading selection, very insightful themes prevailing through class. Also very approachable and easy to talk to, or catch her in her office. She's one of the best!

GREATbteacher. Im no straight A student Im someone who has to study. She comes off kinda werid at first but she is a nice woman and if you come to class and pay attention you will do well. She will give help if you ask. Not a hard teacher. :)

I though I was going to hate her because of the comments, but I actually love her. She is a bit unorganized and she can get off topic quick, but she does a good job at explaining what she wants and how she wants it. All in all, I would take her again. Don't judge her by the comments you read!!

I was unsure about her after reading these comments at the beginning of the semester but she really does not ask very much. Be respectful student, stay off your phone because she hates that and I don't blame her. Class size was small so she is disappointed when no one is paying attention. she's ditzy and gave me a few good laughs. possibly a wizard

Very fair grader for your essays. she also gives her students all the tools necessary to be successful on all graded assignments. Always accessible to her students. Has a tendency to get off topic during lectures, but gives very clear grading criteria before essay due dates.

This class made me love researching! I thought I would hate it. Now I want to read more Jstor articles. The last comment makes me think the student did not meet with the teacher for help. She is so clear and helpful. Her guidelines are clear if you read them and if you pay attention.

I love this woman. If you do not like English or writing, this may not be the professor for you. But as an English major, TAKE HER. She is my favorite person on the entire campus. She is so kind and lenient on time limits, and the papers we had were few and far between. She grades VERY fast with tons of feedback! She is also very funny to me.

Dr. Scherer is a professor who cares so much for her students! She can be scatter brained at times, but she is very sweet and very entertaining. I had her for 102 and 101, and each time she didnt give us too much of a workload. For each paper, she linked a word document to the guidelines for each paper, which truly helps to write papers.

This was a fun class!

Great teacher! The earlier writer dropped the course early and so missed out on a teacher who was always prepared and encouraging.

Dr. Scherer is quirky for sure but a great professor. She's very passionate about the subject matter and really wants students to participate in discussion. I also find her to be very understanding about life circumstances and sometimes not being able to complete the readings. She's also super flexible on due dates, although she grades very hard.

Every class was interesting. She gave great feedback on papers.

The teacher warned us at the start that reading was a must. I disagree with the dropout student. There are only two papers for the whole semester - and 1 was only 4 pages! She spoke about Freud, but it wasn't a rant. It was interesting and not too long. It is an interesting class.

An interesting class on a painful subject. The teacher was super nice. I learned a lot.

It seems like the last reviewer wasn't even in the same class as me. He/She doesn't mention the fact that the class was less about papers and more about a difficult topic. Each book was interesting because the teacher had many interesting things to say and ask.

The teacher encourages you to delve into your interests. She had me choose four different communities so that I could research my topic from many perspectives. My thoughts about my topic grew. Great teacher!

The teacher was great! She made me think about war in new and surprising ways. And yes, she does have a strict attendance policy. 4 absences allowed.
