Extremly hard!
Nice, funny. Tries to make everything as clear as possible. Assigned no homework. Frequent quizzes. Spontaneously made assignments and scheduled a field trip. Threatens to drop quite a bit.

Wonderful teacher.
While this teacher has great energy, her lecture is all over the map and it is very unclear what she expects the students to study which make the frequent quizzes difficult. Other Bio teachers offer more stucture.
not the best teacher- very easy. She is kind of scattered.
Gives hard tests but is very willing to help.
Very enthusiastic. Gives study guides. Vague test questions are my biggest complaint. I found her easy enough to learn from in lecture that I didn't have to read the book and got an A. The labs are tedious, but they're the same for all instructors. Don't show up late or talk in class.
I had to retake this class. This teacher goes off on tangeants. Good personality, but doesn't stay on topic. Starts to put outlines of the lecture on the board and never finishes. The material doesn't seem hard until on the exam it asked in detail when it wasn't explained that way to begin with.
Zoger is one of the best teachers I've had. Just don't be late to class! She might be tough to some student's standards, but if you come to class and pay attention (and take good lecture notes) you will get As on the tests. She is very good at explaining things.
this teacher is a plant let me emphasize plant biologist. When it comes to other forms of bio her knowledge is poor at best. she frequently mistakes facts and insists that she is right. her ego and need to always be right interfere with her teaching capability.
Her lectures are interesting and easy to follow. She's very clear about what you need to know, take good notes and use them to study for tests. She's lively and funny, and very fair. A good teacher.
Abigail is a very nice person, but she doesn't tolerate goofing around in class. She really wants the students to learn and she puts in extra effort to prepare you for the exams. Study hard and you will do well in her class.
Zoger wants everyone to do well and pushes students to their full potential. She has great energy and is very approachable/helpful. Labs are a bit boring and tedious, but the book helps a lot if read before lectures and labs.
A very good teacher, she gives slackers a hardtime, but if you are in the class to learn you will enjoy it. Lectures are clear and the willingness to allow the exploration of details gives the material life and encourages student involvement. I recommend her for Ecology and Botany majors
she is hard to understand, hates late people, and grades hard. i'm glad that i got a C.

She tests off notes, she is pretty hard, she hates it when you are late, and she won't help you too much. She doesn't cut any slack. So you have to go too class everyday and take good notes!
Cool Person. Nice. Way to big on lateness... unfortunatly its a college and if a student is late its their buisness... So I just cant understand professors who cant understand random tardiness.. every class isnt cool but once in a while... it is.. other th
A good teacher in a difficult subject. The concepts were many, and most were difficult, but she went over them until the majority of the class understood. The lectures were more interesting and student involved than others, and the lab was more often than
this teacher is really hard. if you are taking other science or difficult classes...dont take this class. this class takes up a lot of your time. dedication is important if you want to pass her class. no goofing around take GOOD notes! BE ON HER GOOD SIDE!
Well, what can I say. It's Biology, a lot of material has to be covered, and she covers it quite well. Heavy on the lecture and notes, but the exams come directly from it, so it's easy enough to study for. As well, she's nice and clear about the materia
Great Teacher, occasionally a little harsh, but she's great at her job. She's very straightforward and thorough in her explainations (worked great for me, and science is not my thing) and she's keeps the class interesting.
Very much so the person who wasn't popular in school so she takes it out on those who are. and if you have ADD and cant remember every god damn thing you are ****ed.
you have to study very hard for this class. she goes way too fast...dont take her...there are better bio10 teachers at srjc
I wasn't crazy about having to take a biology class, and even though Abigail is hard, she really does want her students to succeed. She does her best to make sure that everyone understands the material and really encourages people to ask questions. This class requires a lot of studying, so you have to be prepared, but she is a good teacher.
she goes way too fast during lectures!!! once you start writing down something, she moves to something else and you miss it. very sarcastic and probably punishing us because she's not happy outside of school. she must not realize that we have a life. don't take her unless you can be completely dedicated to biology
She has really high expectations of you which is a good thing, but can be hard for some students to meet. But she encourages you to talk to her if your having trouble and she gives you tips on how to study for her hard exams. I didn't like having to do the lab work outside of my three hour lab class, but overall she's not bad.
Abagail teaches a hard subject, and she makes every effort to help her students succeed. I wasn't thrilled about having to take a biology class, but it would have been harder without her. She makes herself very available for questions and will answer all your questions till you get it.
Hated her...so glad that i got a C.
This teacher assumed to much of her students, when you did'nt ask a question in class she would make it harder on you and when you did ask a question she would act as thought it were an inconvenience to her. She would blow through her lectures never giving enough time to take notes and pop quiz you every class making you feel very stressed.
If you're going to take biology 10 do not take it from her. She goes into too much detail than needed for this class and causes you to be more confused about the topic. She also spends was too much time relating everything to plants. I do not reccomend her.
Does anyone elso notice that the people who rate Abigail poorly can't spell or use punctuation? Coincidence....I think not. You're in college now, act like it.
This teacher is a nightmare, stay away if at all possible. You leave class with your head spinning and feeling as though you can never catch up because of her teaching style. There are much better professors out there.
Zoger is an amazing teacher! I was very nervous about using her office hours at first but she was very helpful and helpful even when she had to explain something multiple times. Her lectures were interesting and she always gave time for questions. She is demanding while still being reasonable.
She is a great teacher. She loves her work(plants too). She is very helpful. If you are serious about biology she will be great for you.
She is a nice teacher, always ready for help. Exams are not very easy but if you attend lectures and work on study guide you'll be fine.Dont miss lectures.
I had so much fun!! it wasn't the easiest but i learned a lot and she was always ready to help clarify andy questions or to go more in depth if you were interested. I would definately recommend her.
She is not a good professor. I'm a pre-med major and found her class to be very unhelpful in preparing me for future biology classes.
Very nice woman ho obviousally loves her job, but this was possibly the hardest class i've ever taken. She is strict, and she makes you write up your labs outside of your 3 hour lab class which totally sucks. The tests are very hard, and she is not a friendly grader. The final wasn't that bad, it was all multiple choice, but her other tests aren't!
I do not recommend her unless you are a Bio major. This class is very demanding of your time, something she has to much of.
Great professor, beautiful sense of humor. Enthusiatic, insiteful lectures, helpful test preparation. DIFFICULT coursework for many, (myself included). Do not plan to slack, be late, skip the reading, or goof off in lab. It's all there in the outline. AZ is very helpful and considerate person if she feels that you are making an effort.
The study guides were a big help.
She is a great bio teacher who wants her students to also learn to study and take notes. She is funny and her lectures are incredibly interesting. She is a hard grader wanting her answers only but I learned a lot from her and I got an A. (I didn't need to read the book because I listened to her lectures; however, you do need to study for tests.)
Clear. Assumes students are going on to real college and this is not an extension of HS. OMG - you have to study!
AZ is a sincere teacher, but makes the class SO much more difficult than it should be. The information has potential, but the difficulty level of the grading scale and tests sucks any interest and fun in learning the subject matter.
Class is abnormally difficult, tests are geared towards memorization rather than understanding of the material. Gets upset at "high school behavior". Her teaching style will be attractive to people who like "black and white" explanations and are good at memorization.
The people that find this class difficult are the people who aren't dedicated to really learning or having to work for it. Anyone with half a brain could take this class and pass as long as you come to class (on time!), take good notes, and study for the exams (she give you study guides, for *@#% sake). It's not rocket science, people!
At last, a college level calss taught with by a teacher with GREAT understanding of the topic. She's humorous and really wants the students to ask questions and learns. Saying this, do not take her if you just want to take it as a GE class and get an A, you need to put effort into this class. However, she is one of the best teachers i've had.
Abei is very sweet , and is an excellent teacher if she could be any easier it would feel like cheeting, tests are easy and she grades on a curve, make sure she likes you and you will pass the class no prob.
I am a straight A student and found this class to be so unorganized and her lecture style to be incomprehensible. It's like listening to her talk to herself about the subject. One minute she's talking about one thing and the next minute she's talking about another when the two subjects clearly are not related in anyway. Very scattered & unorganized
she was very hard, however very helpful. she wants students to actually learn the material not just remember it long enough for the test. VERY knowlegable, and passionate about teaching! Highly reccomended!
She is not my favorite. I was a straight A student before her. The lecture is boring and incomprehensible and super unorganized. She made me not want to learn. I dreaded waking up on monday and wednesdays because of this class.
Unorganized. Not very great at getting her points across, she loads you with small details and leaves you hanging on the big ideas.
she made biology interesting. keeps your attention during lectures and makes her point on what she expects on her exams. her class isnt the easiest but she makes it fun than it couldve been. i recommend her class!
She is an amazing teacher and by far my favorite class. She is very organized and clear and keeps things going. If you have questions she will answer them. The tests are tough but if you study you will have no problem and she will stay on a topic until everyone understands it.
abigail is by far one of my favorite teachers. she is always ready to answer any questions. this class is a little tough, but definitely manageable- especially if u ask questions when confused. great teacher who knows the subject very well!
she is really hard and expects alot from her students, tests are really hard and you have study or you WILL fail. liked her alot, she really wants everyone to well. would take her again.
She definitely has favorites so act stupid and pretend she's God and you'll be fine. The subject matter itself is incredibly easy, but she has an inferiority complex because she teaches an intro class,so she makes herself feel more important by making it hell. Act like you've never had a bio class before or she'll screw you over on lab exams.
Professor Zoger is an awesome teacher. She is very helpful and her lectures are definitely detailed. Her class is not easy, and you need to put a ton of hours in. However, biology as with any science requires alot of work. I actually thought that she didn't like people trying to become her favorites.
She is a good lecture professor, she moves kind of fast but is very helpful during her office hours. She is however, not a good lab teacher. She keeps us in lab for all 3 hours; you definitely get a bio overload. Also, her online quizzes are nothing like the actual lab exams. The lab exams are all fill in the blank which require a lot of memorazation
This is a review for Zoger in Bio2.3, not 10. Choose Zoger because she's easier than Fautley, HANDS DOWN. She is very smart and very helpful (I got very sick for about 2 weeks and she was happy to meet and explain the lecture material to me). Her tests (and class) are hard BUT FAIR. Lab reports are a nightmare because Peggy grades SUPER HARD.
Zoger is hard! Anyone taking her class better put alot of time in. VERY DETAILED so better know everything from in and out. Lab exams are tough. Good professor, but watch out and get ready to buckle down and put time in.
She has good humor and tries to use examples that we can understand. Take her online quizes if you want to rock the lab exams!! I didn't try that hard and got a B. If I did the readings before the lectures I know I would have gotten an A. I thought she was fun!
Great prof who really cares about students learning how to be more successful students as well as learning bio. DO NOT take AZ if you want an easy class; DO take AZ if you really want to learn bio - she will not spoon feed but provides tons of help-xtra office hrs, study guides, etc. Be involved in your own education and she will support you 110%
Like the ratings on here, there are two types of students @SRJC. Anyone can enroll n class. Abigail's an amaising teacher. Those who rate her badly are the same group who couldn't pass an entrance exam. She gives 150% 2 her students. U actually learn
I'm in anatomy 40 now for paramedics. Took Zoger's Bio 10 spring 09. I'm so far ahead of the class because Zoger prepared us for anatomy & college! Purdy isn't the same caliber teacher that Zoger is. I have new found study skills, I learned more than biology in bio 10. She gives 150% to her students. She is the best SRJC has to offer in science!!!
I'm a straight A student (70+ units) except for this class, my only B. I just couldn't get into it because I found Zoger to be such a repelling personality. She was rude to students and would disrupt the class to ridicule a tardy student for disrupting... (and no, I was never late). She knows a lot about ecology, yet I would never recommend her.
This class is very time consuming and hard! Great teacher, the best I have had at the JC, but a lot of material and very time consuming class. Very difficult multiple choice questions on lecture exams. Study, study, study. There is no "skating" through this class, unless you are extremely educated on the topic(s)
Awesome teacher. Funny, fun, interesting, cares about her students. Only 3 major tests plus a few homework assignments. Go to class and take good notes and you'll be fine.
Like others have said, this class takes a lot of time for studying. She assigns 3 major tests and gives you a study guide for what will be on the test. So if you have time to study the material on the study guide, you should be fine for the tests. She is VERY helpful in her office hours and emails. I would take one of her classes again.
Great teacher! It's not the easiest class every, but if you're willing to learn and ask for help she's always there to help you succeed! I highly recommend taking her class because you will actually learn everything you're being taught. Overall, great teacher who will leave you prepared for the future.
STAY AWAY FROM HER! Zoger is a ridiculous woman. She was rude, intolerant, demoralizing of her students and falsely accused many of plagerising their papers which were essential for the class. During the course her class was informative and clear, but if you want to pass this class study and kiss A**. In my opinion DO NOT TAKE A CLASS FROM HER.
good personality and fun to listen to. She usually keeps the lectures interesting.
I thought this was honestly going to be an informative class, until after the first day. WOW. Now i am a studious student, and found her to be a completely unprofessional person. She would treat our class as if we were still in high school, and get upset because we had not grasped the material right after she said it. In short, i would not reccomen
Mrs. Zoger is very nice and is happy to help. She expects a lot out of her students, but its worth it in the end. It's a tough class for non-science & math people but I'm amazed at how much I've retained 2 semesters later. She's REALLY good!
Lab+lecture exams fairly stressful. Lab portion semi-hard, but if you study lab manual well (and familiar with slides)- you'll get an A. Lecture exams seem hard- but she grades fairly easy on them. Reports are tedious and although she says Peggy (lab assistant) is a hard grader, she actually isn't. Final was also pretty easy.
She is nice. But her hard is hard. Have to be paying attention every minute of her lectures to understand the material
I really enjoyed her class. She's always eager to help and answer all questions even if they are just out of curiosity. I'm not much of a biology person, but she makes it interesting. She has a great attitude which rubs off on the students. I definitely recommend taking her.
Not very professional. She makes it seem like your soul focus should be on her class alone. A classmate of mine went to ask her some questions about the upcoming test and was told that she was having a "come to Jesus moment." I went to ask her about my grade and what I could do was told that I had a rope around my neck. My advice: DO NOT TAKE HER!
Zoger is a nice lady but she is a hard grader. I am currently in her class and I know of only 1 person with an A. I am a good student who studies for her tests and I have a high C, for me this is unheard of. Asks questions and puts you on the spot but is okay if you don't know the answer.
She is a good instructor at what she teaches.Zoger definitely shows her interest in the topic and tries to tell students helpful study tips.Although the class can be hard,if you put the effort into knowing the material you can achieve good grade in the class. It all involves your understanding of the material.
I really hated working with Abigail. I found her to be rude and condenscending, which eventually made her unapproachable for help. She really is just a poor teacher in general. I don't recommend taking her class at all. Many people in my class that are really smart did quite poorly due to the learning environment she created.
Abigail is a sweet person overall and helpful when you go to her office hours (get quite annoying though when she is busy during her office hours frequently). She expects a lot from you though then again it is Bio 2.3. Her tests are difficult especially her essays because you aren't sure about what she wants sometimes and the same with assignments.
Abigail is very funny, makes things interesting. She knows everyone's name and is very personable. Passionate about her subject. Do not take if you just want a easy ride, she will really make you learn biology and remember it.
She's great. She's great. Wonderful teacher, goes as deep as she can in a survey class, and makes sure you stay bright and engaged along with her. Teaches science, not facts, and is always there to help. But: busy, brash, bossy. That's just personality, it goes well with her braces. Gives you free plants and inspires you. Hot!
She is a good teacher! Very kind and interested in the material. She will do her best to make you care about plants! It was a very tough class though, study hard! She is awesome
Great teacher. I highly recommend her to anyone who wishes to have an interesting, inspiring teacher who loves to talk about biology, ecology, and anything plant related. She's awesome and if you go to the lectures (and labs) the tests become so much easier. She's also great at helping students prep for exams. So take her class!!
Abigail is a very wonderful, smart, and caring professor and human. She does a great job at teaching in a way that is clear and engaging. While she has high expectations for her students, she is informative about what you need to know. If you want to learn and be inspired, take her class. You will have to work hard for an A, but you will want to.
Abigail is an amazing teacher. Her lectures engage students by having us actively participate. She is full of passion and a really wonderful, understanding women. I enjoy going to class and learning the material.
Very good person. Go to office hours and give her the benefit of the doubt. She will help any way she can. The only downside to this teacher is the fact that she seems to be constantly trying to "improve" her teaching so she doesn't have a solid, organized plan for the semester. The class was disorganized and hard to know what to study at times.
Abigail is a wonderful professor, but this is a TOUGH class. Don't expect an easy A. You'll have to study a lot and DON'T MISS LECTURE!
Abby Z was great. Not only does she teach Bio material, she also teaches the science behind memory and studying and gives valuable tips on how to effectively review and retain material. She's super cute- quirky and confident and likes to joke with her students. She's clear on what she expects- both in quality of work and behavior. You'll learn alot
Engaging lecturer, cares about students learning, introduces you to real scientific research in an intro class. If every teacher at could be half as great as her this school would be amazing. She goes above and beyond to help learn and thrive. Highly recommend! Tests are from lecture make sure you take good notes, study guides helpful for exams
Take Zoger for Bio 10 - she's great! Super enthusiastic about the subject. Breaks things down for you. I thought Bio 10 was a very difficult subject, but Zoger was a great teacher to hold my hand through it!
Great Teacher! Almost everything she says is related to class material and the test - she even gives a few study guides! Be careful, you must attend both LAB AND LECTURE, 2 different topics, you will not pass if you just attend one of these. Long lab hours and she rarely lets you out early but she gives you everything you need to succeed. Study!
This class was new so she treated the class like her guinea pigs. Very hard class if you don't understand Bio. Isn't very helpful, and is a TOUGH grader. A lot of homework. The exams were difficult and her study guides were confusing. She's passionate about bio though, so I'll give her that.
Abigail is a truly fantastic teacher. However... don't expect an easy A. Make sure you come to class prepared, do the homework (that isn't terrible), and study for her exams. BIO16 is WAY better than BIO10, and I highly recommend taking it from Abigail because she makes the class interesting and is so passionate about what she does. 10/10!
Exams are tough, but if you pay attention & are present for lecture, you should do fine. Decent amount of hw. If you ever need help, ask questions! She will always clarifyshe wants you to pass. Abigail makes class fun;she relates bio to everyday concepts, so its easy for her students to understand. She is super kind & humurous. You will enjoyI did!
You work for your grade. Tests were not hard, study, do the post lecture assignments and do HW. Biology is a tough class, but Abigail is accessible during office hours. If your not understanding something ask her, she'll help. Extremely educated on the material, and it was relevant and got us students to be engaged. Will miss this class, take her!!
She's very sweet and wants you to succeed beyond SRJC, so she helps with internships. Always willing to answer questions, and makes herself available outside of class. Lectures are pretty scattered and you have to get used to her slides. Has online quizzes with answers that are usually inputted wrong, so you'll spend a lot of time on those.
We're only 3 weeks into this class and I'm already frustrated with her disorganization. Quizzes don't match up with textbook at all and the homework due on different days than she says. Even if you pay attention and do homework, you're still left with more questions and confusion. You can tell her strength is in Botany, not Biology.
If you enjoy a class that includes numerous embarrassing typos on every quiz, being quizzed and graded on material before it's taught (she claims it's a better learning strategy somehow) and vague directions and unstable due dates on assignments and projects, then this is the class for you. You will need to teach yourself everything, good luck.
Abigail is an amazing instructor. Her style of teaching is different than any other professor i've had. She is very aware of kinesthetic learning and promotes engaging exercises with the class. The trick is to utilize the material she presents is by drawing, creating flashcards, quizlet or whatever method suits you. Bio 16 is a challenging class.
Assigns way too much work. Everything has a ton of typos and is hard to follow. Talks over someone to get her point across in order to get the last word in a discussion. Nice person, but subpar professor. All the work is easy, just tedious and time consuming for no real reason.
Lovely person, awful instructor. Prepare for frustration and struggle...
She is so unorganized! Gives you so much to work. Doesn't let you leave on time for other classes, involves her personal life in the lectures, so it just mumbling for an hour. Has you do 2 hours of computer work, graphs, ANOVA. Its really annoying. If you take this class, good luck. It was the worst class I've ever taken at the SRJC.
Most unprofessional instructor ever. Prepare for lots of unclear tedious assignments. Assumes low test scores are due to a lack of studying instead of recognizing the fact that exam questions are unclear/confusing.
I have to say, one of the worst classes I have ever taken. Extremely unprofessional and likes to judge people based on superficial stuff. Her lectures are unbearable and beyond confusing, and moves way to fast for a student to follow. I can't even follow her recorded lectures as she jumps from one topic to another. If you can, please avoid her!!!!
If you're exhausted from heavy social interaction this is not the class for you. If you value your time, mental health, seeing the light of day, breathing, or a professional healthy learning environment, this ain't the class for you.
WORST biology class I have ever taken. The SRJC has some great instructors, but her... She is SO unorganized. Gives you so much work!. Makes you sit in class for hours, makes you do her work as a class, cause shes so unorganized!! Doesnt give you study guides. The exams have nothing to do with lectures. Avoid!! She is not nice.
Way of teaching is very focused on the best way to process information and understand the material. Great lectures. If you have the chance to take her, do so!
I really like Abigail as a person, she's nice and wants to help you succeed. However, she is very disorganized. Lectures are very difficult to follow along to at times and the topics that are emphasized in class are not necessarily the ones that are the most prominent on the test.
Abigail cares about her students but I found her teaching methodology extremely hard to follow. The abundance of typos and errors in her slides, assignments, and even tests is overwhelming as I often found myself thinking why should I put so much effort from my side when the teacher does not? She tries to compensate for this grade wise however.
Zoger is a wonderful lady. Not so much a good teacher. She grades so randomly that it's made me almost not want to do any of the (many) assignments she expects. Many questions pop up in videos about your thoughts, which get marked wrong. Also barely teaches the material she expects us to know. These combined it's very difficult to maintain an A.
Truthfully I couldnt deal with professor Abigail so I drop the class with a big, fat W. Prof Z makes this class way to hard. This class is for non majors, yet she has to go out of her way and use SRJC money to proctor pop quizzes. Yes, pop quizzes over zoom are a thing. She also has us write long papers. I thought this was a bio class, not English
You cannot get through a lecture without her belittling a student in the class. She expects that the only class that you are taking is hers, and will say that bad grades are due to our lack of studying, not her teaching style. Her powerpoints are a mess, and you need to be taking notes while she is speeding through long lectures.
The subject matter of this course is not particularly difficult however Abigail's teaching style is endlessly frustrating. She frequently makes errors in her lectures and attempts to hide some information from her students as a way to force specific learning styles. Some of her behavior and material are inappropriate and are hard to look past.
She is a super nice person and the class was really not hard at all. she is super kind and cares about her students but Her teaching is not great.
She was very accommodating and got me a room to pump in. I like her teaching style; she is clear in her lectures. She is understanding and also funny, which is a bonus!
Class where the only thing growing is the professor's ego. Grades seem based on a secret rubric that changes depending on how much she likes you. Asks for feedback but doesn't handle it well. Zero empathy for lives outside her class. If plants could talk, they'd probably ask for a transfer. 1/5, recommend if you like speed-reading and favoritism.
Hear me out, she's not that bad but I can see where the other reviews are coming from. She is great at making sure you understand something if you are confused, she walks around during lab making sure everyone is checked on. Downside she IS tough on grading, goes fast through lecture. Just be an on time and an engaged student and you should do fine
I'm only leaving a review to counter the review two below mine that threw some wild accusations. I missed a few classes because of my kids and she was plenty accommodating. I saw her be equally flexible with other students as well. Is her class super disorganized? Totally. There's tons of assignments, but nothing wild. Tough course on volume alone.
This professor expects you to show up and do the work however she is also willing to work with you if stuff comes up. She is a kind and compassionate professor and I am extremely happy that I took this class!
