The BEST teacher I have ever had.
Habib is legendary! His expectations are unmatched. You WILL read before class and DO homework. I hated his class because of the high expectations but thank the accounting gods daily that I took Financial Accounting with HABIB! I WISH HE TAUGHT MORE!!
Hard class but only with Habib can you get through it. Wish he taought all acct courses.
Very nice but I could not understand a darn thing he was saying!!
This guy was by far the WORST teacher ever. He thought he was so funny and really, we just laughed at his jokes because we were scared that he was going to snap on anyone of us. He either has a bad temper or a huge ego and knew that we were too scared to stand up to him. Do not take him!!!
This guy sucked! He wouldn't help me when I went in to get help and he would always tell the class that he was the best teacher we would ever have, but we would still fail his tests! He would assign homework before we learn it so we pretty much had to teach ourselves.
This class is very difficult.Habib taught it very throughly but you can NOT SLACK. You have to work hard and study, but you do learn a lot.
Habib is very hard! You have to learn everything from the book even though he claims that he teaches it. This semester he skipped a chapter and we were tested on it the next class period. He is very in to himself and thinks he is the best teacher in the whole world. DO NOT TAKE HIM!
Habib is a huge jerk. He claims that he teaches you everything and that if you don't know what you're doing, its your problem, not his. Tests are hard, and you have to struggle through the hw because he doesnt teach you how to do it first--DO NOT TAKE HIM!
he is cool
This is the worst teacher I have ever had. It would be helpful if he wasn't so into himself and actually tought the subject rather then having you do the assignment all wrong and then have him tell you that you don't know anything. If a teacher doesn't take some blame they aren't a good teaccher.
Habib is an ass and talks about himself constantly. He is from egypt...but he is a good teacher and you learn a lot. A LOT of work goes with the class but its helpful.
Very hard class. The hardest i've ever taken. I also learned more than I've ever learned before. Bad news: only got a C! Hours of homework involved. 100% attendence required or else!
HABIB is way to difficult of a teacher and he doesn't help you at all. He is a jerk and I would not roccomend him to anyone!!!!
He is the worst teacher ever! doesn't help his students and gives out homework before he teaches it. his tests are ridiculous.
Very hard, but you will learn alot. Do the homework or you will be lost. He is always willing to help, overall just be prepared to work. Best accounting teacher at Mankato though.
He really wants us to learn this stuff. Accounting just isn't for me; I'll continue to hire my accountant :) He talks about himself a lot. He's pretty funny. Written problems on tests are hard but multiple choice and quizzes aren't too bad. I just suck at accounting. He is willing to help if needed.
horrible teacher. major smart ass. he has his favorites and if you aren't one of them, drop the class. he is full of himself and is unfair.
HE does not understand that balance sheets are supposed to equal each other. He teachs one thing and test on the other
he loves to interupt you, dont know if he is doing it for fun or just to be an ass. Hard teacher and he is better than schwinghiemers dumbass. if you dont have to take this class, i wouldnt take it
He is a smart ass! His test are hard and YOU HAVE TO DO THE HOMEWORK!!! or you will not pass! I didn't think that he would be helpful and I never went to his office for help for that reason but I wish I would have. one on one he really wants you to learn. Very hard but you will learn a lot!
really strict, and negative
IF you are acct major, you want this guy. He is good, knows his stuff and does a great job teaching it. YOU must do your share, homework is a must and you have to come to class. Can be a bit condesending but just don't take it personally. I learned SO much!
This is a VERY difficult class. He'll be teaching 300 next semester though, so good luck to all you people taking it. No curve and you MUST read and do homework to do well on tests. He's a nice guy, but people often find him intimidating. He really wants you to learn, so he'll help you if needed.
Completely ridiculously hard!!! He doesn't listen to student responses and interupts you a LOT; he's a BIG JERK if you ask me.
Habib definitely better than Rolfes! He's difficult, but extremely helpful, if you don't understand go see him right away, he will help you. Do not waste time trying to figure it out on your own. He is really a dedicated teacher and one that i've come to respect when i had his class. Don't forget to buy him a tie after you are done with college!
Habib is very strict and I think sometimes expects too much from his students. His course is not the only one we are taking. But if you go to him for help he is very helpful and generous with his time.

This guy makes the class hard. He'll tell your class your the worst one day and the best the next day. IF you want to learn stuff take it if you want an easy grade don't.
Habib is a good teacher, if you do his homework, go to class his tests are easy, they are exactly the same stuff he does in class. Almost all his test questions are gone over in class. so if you go to class and do ur work his tests will be easy
He is the only option for ACC 300 class and thats a bad luck for students. he is very hard and not at all helpful.sticks to his own principles and expectations. exams are super hard. if you want a good grade in his class, do all the homeworks assigned and never be absent. but he is very clear and precise in teaching. so, good for accounting majors!
if you want to learn your stuff, take his class. he expects a lot out of his students, and you have to do the work. he will pick his favorites and let you know who they are.
Habib is a GREAT teacher, but a big jerk. I would not suggest sitting in the front row if you arent a goodie goodie, because quite often he will just snap. He goes from laughing to yelling in 2 seconds flat!! Watch out for him.
Sometimes this class can be frustrating because the assignment is due before the topic is covered in class, but it is graded on completion. Habib forces you to learn, because if you are called on and you don't know the answer, you look pretty stupid. The tests are o.k. as long as you understand the homework and pay attention in class.
This guy is by far the best accounting professor on campus. He knows how to teach accounting, take accounting with this guy and you will not regret it. Everyone that complains about his class should be attending a technical school, not a 4 year university. Overall, great prof, do your work and you will do fine.
habib is the****. straight comedy by calling fools out. he will get u to learn accounting. internet assingments are no good.
An **** who doenst cut you any slack.. but he is a really good teacher who actually teaches you the stuff you need to know. It's a challenging class but if you go to class and study you should be alright. Don't expect to get an A unless your a complete preppy, but if your a normal student you should be able to manage a B.
A horrible teacher. He thinks he is the greatest professor on earth, but he doesn't do a good job explaining things, he yells at you for asking questions, the quizzes and test questions are not on stuff he teaches in class. Hard to understand. He once got pissed off and yelled to our class "your problem is you are all just lazy Americans".
He is the best teacher in Accounting that you can take from this school. He does not answer question well, but he is funny. His class is hard but after you are done with the class you know the accounting that he teachers you.
Great Overall Teacher... wants you to do well. Tests kill you, but if you keep up with the homework and read the book, you will do fine and learn a lot
He is nice and you have to know him better to understand him... he is helpful...you only need to go ask him..he will help you...he is funny in class..and he knows how to manage time...and i like his way to teach...eventhough his test is tough...you know you learn something from his class...Act major..highly recommanded
Knows his accounting, but that does not do you any good because he can not speak english. he does not teach how to do accounting he tells you. when you ask a quesion he just repeats what he said and does not explane it any more. if you take this professor plan on getting a tuitor. I do NOT recomend this professor!
Despite what others have said, Habib's English is excellent. He generally explains the material well, and he tells you what will be on the test. If you read the book, do all the homework, and show up to class, you should be ok, but this class requires a lot of effort. His tests can be hard, so STUDY.
ok teacher with no-ok manners.shows preference to his previous student coz"he knows, he was my student," and despise to those of u learning nothing from ur other acct teachers. long face, bad taste for jokes n clothes. i did learn sth yet i prefer seeing him as less as possible--good thing i could manage at studying on my own.
Habib is awesome, funniest teacher I've ever had. If you're shy this class isnt for you because Habib will grill you. Knows accounting and is good at teaching it. Go Brazil!
Habib is the hardest ACCT teacher at MSU, but also the best. The class is hard, but as long as you do your hw, read the chapters, and study you will do fine and learn a LOT. Easy extra credit if you speak up in class, even if you're wrong. Make an effort to talk to him outside of class- his is a good name to drop when you're interviewing for jobs.
quotation:' say, if you buy a watch at...like the one i have, which is ROLEX...' 'you go for the car, ford, toyoto, BMW, which is the 1 i drive...' 'look at my rings, are they beautiful?' 'your rings might be 3 stones or 10 stones, depends on how much love and how much love you have got...'
I do NOT recommend taking him unless you absolutely have to. First of all he is rude and constantly interrupts students when they're trying to answer his questions. He also is rude when you try to ask him questions specifically if he has already gone over them before...he claims "this is a professional class" but I for one am not convinced of this
I dreaded taking a class with Habib, but once I did, I'm glad I did. Learned a great deal, but had to do the work to earn the grade. Do the homework, be prepared, attend class and participate, and you do fine. Said he didn't curve, but in the end, he did. You will learn tons if you try, and makes later classes easier.
Worst teacher ever!! This teacher is very rude and shows absolutely no interest about students learning or passing the class.
Habib is an amazing prof. He makes sure you understand. His lectures are clear and helpful. The use of the text in class is amazing. You are getting what you paid for with Habib!
Do not take Habib! He is never wrong (even when he is) and everything is the student's fault: slow internet, get a better computer. Complete @#$hole! Knows what he is talking about but is on a major power trip and loves making students feel dumb. Not helpful at all either!
Try to avoid him if you can, he makes you teach yourself the material and he is never wrong. Tries to be funny at times but the humor is very dry. Make him your last possible choice for a teacher!
Hey Listen people! Habib is the best pro in MSU, and if you want to be a good accountant take with him. Don't listen those lossers who don't know how to study or to be in college. Those people are party animals that is why they are saying all those bad things about him. Habib is smart pro who knows what he is teaching.
Habib is a great guy, and will do ANYTHING to help, but the material is hard, and sometimes I feel like he expects a lot. Most of the time, tests are on about 200 pages of material. You need to get used to his teaching style and know that he berates most students, not just you. Study hard, get to know him... and it will be OK... I promise! :)
Habib is a great teacher with a great sense of humor. However, the expectations are very high and you will end up dropping the class if you don't spend A LOT of time studying. His teaching style is different than most teachers but once I got used to it I actually prefer his style of teaching.
He is tough in regards to what he expects of you, but you will learn a lot from what he teaches you. He explains everything very well and his grading is fair, you will just have to put in the effort. He will give you all the help you need and is very humorous. I strongly recommend him for anyone interested in learning some accounting.
He is an amazing teacher. You have to want to learn.
My hero. Absolutely amazing. I wish he taught every accounting class. Hard tests and alot of homework but you WILL learn accounting.
Really tough class. Not fun at all. I hated it. Read the chapters carefully. Do all of the homework when youre supposed to and understand it. Habib has his days, sometimes he's cool, others he is mean.
Great teacher of Accounting. If want to be taught right, I highly recommend. If you are looking for an "easy" grade or class, this is not your class. Dr. Habib is the true definition of a Professional teacher who will show you the ropes, explain what is expected of you, and if you work hard you will be rewarded. Very helpful outside of class.
You have to work very hard in this class and understand the concepts in order to do well. You do a lot of homework and the tests are hard. Habib knows what he is talking about and is a good teacher.
Habib like to intimidate people and make you feel like you are the worst students. Just remember that he’s trying to weed out the weak students. Tests are difficult! Be prepared to work hard and attend class every single day!!! There is A LOT of information to study for tests and he tells you to know everything!!
Habib is by far the best acct prof you can take. If you are considering an acct major, TAKE HABIB!! You will learn a lot. He makes you do your work and read the book (this is college-you should!) but if you have questions he'll gladly help you. Tests are difficult, so study a lot. Those that don't like him are lazy and don't appreciate a good prof.
By far one of the best profs I've ever had. His class is very difficult and requires a lot of studying, but everything he assigns will better your understanding. He's a prof that actually cares if you learn. Is also really funny and makes the class enjoyable. Other profs may be easier, but you'll learn the most with Habib. DEFINATELY TAKE HABIB!!!!
wow I cant believe everyone likes this guy?? he yells at his students, makes you stay late every class so you will be late for your next class, annoying as hell, thinks accounting is the most important thing in the world and is just a smug guy. have fun taking him...
Tough class, but you will learn a lot. If you are an accounting or corp. finance major, take him for 200. If you don't, 300 will be even more difficult. He says he doesn't curve, but he actually does. There is a ton of information to handle in this class. A lot of people drop this class or have to take it again. Work hard and good luck!
Worst prof. I have ever taken. Tests are extremely hard. I got an A in Acct 200, and now I'm struggling to get a D.
If you are an accounting major, take Habib. He only goes over what you must know for the test. Explains everything you need to know. Easy to understand! Crystal Clear!
He cares about how you do. Just go to class.
Habib is the best teacher in Acct Major. I have taken ACCT 200, 300, and now 400 from him. I wish all classes were taught by him because I have learned a lot from him. If I will be a teacher in the future, I want to be like him.
Ok so here's the deal, Habib is ridiculously hard. It was almost never pleasent to be in his class. He yells at students and makes you feel dumb. Some days i really just wanted to chuck my book at his head and quit the class. HOWEVER, he is the ONLY prof i've had so far that can ACTUALLY teach accounting. Take him if you want to learn accounting.
Habib is a great teacher. One of the first teachers I have haved that knows what he is talking about. He is very fair and does not test you on stuff he doesn't teach. Very knowledgable and will help if you ask. Tests can be difficult.
If you attend class its not to bad. He is super funny and really nice. His tests are kinda tuff though. I was able to pull a C.
Habib was probably one of the best teachers I've had at MSU. His class is hard and he assigns a lot of busy work but he drills the information into your brain and explains things very well. I recommend this class if your looking for a challenge and really want to have a better understanding of accounting.
He is a tough professor but you will learn more in his class then you will from any other Accounting professor. Study more then you think you need to for exams they are really tough and always do the homework and you'll get a good grade.
Hard teacher test are hard homework everyday but you learn way more then any other accounting class go everyday or you will fail
Very Good Proff! If you?re an Acct. or Finance Major, I would highly recommend him.
Habib is tough and lets you know it, but I have learned so much in his class. He is by far the best accounting professor I have ever had. He really does a good job explaining the concepts. He does not let you miss any days though. Go everyday and study hard and an A is easy! You will learn alot even though it is hard work!
He would ridicule people in front of the whole class on any wrong answer or even if your grammar was bad. I was on his good side and he still scared me. He is hot headed and thinks he is god's gift. I changed my major because of him. You HAVE to take him so good luck!
What a truly excellent professor. Take Habib if you have the chance! You will learn so much and gain a much better understanding of accounting. You're almost guaranteed to get an A or B as long as you 1)GO TO CLASS, 2)READ THE BOOK and 3)DO THE HOMEWORK!! He is extremely helpful and genuinely wants you to learn! Hes Not as difficult as people say!!
You will work in this class, and it is a requirement, he was one of the best teachers I ever had.
Take Olach if you want a good grade!
Habib does know accounting and you WILL learn it. However, the man has no respect for his students and will make you feel stupid for asking questions or getting an answer wrong. Attendance is mandatory (no excuses) and you will have to teach yourself because he barely can. AVOID AS LONG AS POSSIBLE!
He is horrible. He makes you feel so dumb if you dont know the answer, he has you repeat the question until you figure it out. Calls on you and then will make fun of you if you dont know the answer. The only good thing is that you learn something so then the next acct classes will be easier...
Very difficult teacher, makes you feel stupid if you do not answer him correctly or immediately... Taking his class online is a better option than taking it on campus. Attendance is required. Wouldnt reccommend him for anything
Habib is a great but hard professor. Since all ACCT 200 classes use the same final, definitely take Habib. You will learn accounting much better with habib than from anyone else. If you are an Accounting or a Finance major, you would be stupid to not take his class. He is also a very funny guy, you just have to learn his sense of humor!!!
if you really need to learn Accounting take these classes with him (200,210,300) .. which I don't, but if you need to get an A or B with a little wrok this is dafinetely not your class.. you also have to study before class everytime otherwise it is impossible to catch up with him, Take him if you are genius,, Good Luck
Dr. Habib is one of the best professors that Mankato has. I recommend taking any class with him. Take him for Acct. 200 if you can; you will have to work in his class, but you learn way more than with any other professor. He is committed to teaching his students good accounting, but he has a sense of humor which makes the class enjoyable.
This class is not as hard as people make it out to be. Dr. Habib is extremely helpful and easy to understand. As long as you go to class, read the chapters, and do the homework you will be JUST fine! He is not intimidating and has a funny sense of humor! Take 200 with him if your a major because it makes 300 MUCH easier!
Great class to take if you want to know your stuff, but if you want an easy class this may not be the one for you. I need and want to learn it.
Very demanding. Really knows the subject. Wants you to be commited and hardworking. One of the best professors I have ever had!Great sense of humor.
Take accounting with Habib if you really want to learn the material. He knows what he is doing and will help you out alot. Just do the homework and read the chapters and you will do fine in the class. if you are an Accouting major...HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! but if you are looking for an easy A, don't take.
Best teacher I have ever had! Its a 600 page book and you will read the whole thing. The tests are not easy and Habib can get a little crabby. But don't believe everything you hear, you will never get anyone better to teach you accounting.
Before this semester began I really underestimated how hard people claimed this professor really was. He definitely works you to the extreme & you must continuously focus your time to his class in order to stay on top of things. HW due every class, quizzes over the chapters each week & the exams are very tough. Class avg on the final test = 59.6%
Habib is a very good teacher. He wants students to understand the material and goes over things many times. Expect to do work. Don't show up for class unprepared. And smile. He likes that. If you put forth effort, you will get a good grade in his class.
Took Habib for 200, 300, 301. Difficult classes. You will receive the grade you EARN. By no means are his classes an easy A/B. Cares about his students. Anyone who says he "belittled" them probably didn't go to class prepared that day. Go to class EVERY DAY, study a lot, do your homework, etc. You will "learn how to learn ACCT." Best prof. at MSU.
I have taken Habib for 200 and 300 now. He is the best and hardest teacher I have ever taken. He will make sure you learn at all costs. Too bad he is going on sabbatical and will be back only for one year. Take him while you can!
I was very nervous about taking 200 with Habib because i had heard of his reputation, but I am so glad I did. He is easily the best professor i have had at MSU. He cares about whether you learn or not. I am actually waiting until he comes back from sabatical to take 301 with him. Great professor.
I took Habib for Accounting 301... Trust me he is not an easy prosfessor at all whatsoever .. BUT he is willing to help you learn and understand.. don't just memorize it.. Try to understan dall the Homework Problems he goes over in class and you will do just fine in his class... He gives you a grade based on your improvement in his class...
I don't know why many students think Dr. Habib is the hardest, the best, the scariest... He doesn't have any extraordinary teaching style. Most accounting professors in this university are as good as Dr. Habib.
He is a very helpful professor. I respect him!
Dr. Habib is worth taking! Students complain about doing poorly in the class but if you put in the time and effort you should be fine. It's not an easy class because the material is difficult, but Habib makes class interesting and cracks jokes frequently. Pay attention and participate in class and he'll like you. Strongly recommend
Habib has a lot of real world experience, which makes him well respected at MSU. However, I found him to be very full of him self. He expected students to be 5 minutes early and stay late every day but would randomly talk about his personal life. Group presentations are pointless. Have to read the book twice, he doesn't teach, you teach yourself.
Dr. Habib was easily my favorite professor. He genuinely cares about the students that get to know him. Try going to his office hours just to have a conversation with him, especially if you're not doing well in the class. He helped me get the job that I have today.
Habib is by far my favorite professor in my collegiate career. I am just about to graduate next semester and have had him for 301 and 400. He is tough on his students because he desperately wants them to do well and is extremely helpful in his office hours (and will give you chocolate and tea). If you read and do hw before class you will survive!
Habib is one of the sweetest people alive, although he can seem intimidating at first. Going to class and paying attention is essential. There is a lot of material to learn in this course, but Habib will tell you exactly what you need to do to remember it. Just listen to him and do what he says and you should be fine.
I took 301 and 400 with Habib. Very tough professor so try taking these classes in a semester with low credits because it's going to be a lot of work. Keep up on your readings, and review everything after class. Prepare for the tests early on and you'll be fine. Visit him during his office hours. I studied about 8-12 hours for every test. Goodluck
ACCT 301 & 400 are notoriously difficult classes and Dr. Habib is well aware of that. It may seem like he's taking pride in making your life difficult but I promise he cares deeply about your future success! His exams are VERY HARD! Prepare early! Go see him in is office hours (he loves that). Your final grade will be fair (he curves) if you care.
Had Habib for 301 & 400. If you show up to his office hours he will "mark" you as someone who cares about learning & will curve your final grade. His classes are easily the two most difficult classes I've ever taken in college mainly because of the nature of the content and the way he teaches it is frustrating. STUDY or I promise you'll FAIL.
Dr. Habib is by far the best professor I've ever had! His classes are a lot of work, so the way to succeed in them is to study a lot and try your best! If you have any questions he is always willing to help and he is understanding as long as he knows you're a student who cares. If you listen and try your best you'll have no problem passing!
I will transfer schools before I take another class with this professor. He does not care about students at all, and if he does he surely does not show it. He kept class 15 minutes after because he had "nothing better to do," glad our time matters to you. He also makes students teach the material, I have not learned a single thing from him.
Most Egoistic teacher I have even takes classes from. Always punches down on the students and shows how superior he is. Rescheduled the final because of some server issue because the couple students had some difficulties. Instead of arranging the equal marks for them. He made everyone attempt another exam. had to reschedule my flight rental hotel
DrHabib is one of the best professors at Mankato. He is HARD, but he wants you to LEARN. You will not get by by memorizing. "Learn good accounting!" Read the textbook (over and over and over x100), go to class, ask questions, ATTEND HIS OFFICE HOURS IF YOU DONT UNDERSTAND HE IS ALWAYS WILLING TO HELP
At MSU you cannot avoid Habib at all! Habib does a good job at showing us how we should learn accounting and not to memorize it, every situation will be different. He is hard, but its the material. Be prepared to study hard itll pay off for CPA studying. Get to know him and let him get to know you, be patient and respect him even if it gets hard to
Dr. Habib is a great professor. He really wants students to succeed as professional accountants. The material in 301 and 400 is challenging, but if you show up to class and are willing to learn, there should be no problem passing. Habib is also available outside of class, and I would recommend getting to know him.
I really wish I could have taken this class in person from Habib. He's got a great personality and I like and respect him as a person but the transition to online learning hasn't gone smoothly. The textbook and Wiley online resources are what taught me the course, honestly didn't interact much with Habib. Wish it was different!
Class was listed as an online class with no scheduled meeting times and this professor decides to have scheduled exams and quizzes. His online classes are falsely advertised.
I am a MAcc graduate about to obtain my CPA license. I had Habib for ACC 301 and 400. Let me tell you, these will be the toughest courses you will ever take in your academic career (even compared to the MAcc). All material is also relevant for the FAR section of the CPA exam and should be taken seriously. Exam heavy, so don't slack off studying.
Good professor with a good personality but teaches differently than most so you need to adjust. Grade consists of homework, quizzes, and exams. Exams are worth more than half of your grade, so do not skip studying or you will fail. He is a good guy who wants you to succeed, so go to office hours when you have questions.
He's very knowledgeable about accounting but isn't great at teaching it. He can tell you the material but won't explain it. He relies way too much on the textbook. The quizzes are very difficult; the questions ask about very specific details from the textbook.
thirty years since I took his accounting classes. Reading the reviews, he has not grown very much. If you are an accounting major,,,,,give him the praise that his ego requires. He knows the material. In my opinion his ego is bigger than his concern for students. He was not a good teacher. He was an obstacle that I had to get around. You can to.
Dr habib is one of the best accounting professors. He wants his students to become professional at what they do, that is why his exams are hard. You need to stay consistent with your studies. He cares about his students and wants you to succeed. He will make you learn good accounting!
Habib is a professor who really cares about accounting deeply. He is a decent teacher but sometimes it feels like his lectures are just him reciting the book and not actually teaching. Be ready to actually read the textbook as that is very important to do well in his class. The exams are really hard, as well as the homework is very difficult.
Dr. Habib is a very hard professor but he cares deeply about his students and encourages professionalism heavy. Tests are 80% of the grade but you get 20 extra credit points for mavpass sessions and 20 points for perfect attendance. Go into his office hours and create a personal
Dr. Habib cares deeply about students and wants them to grow in the professional world. Tests are 80% of grade so be ready to study. Go into his office hours and create a personal relationship with him, it will make the class easier in the end. He preaches reading the textbook twice before class. He will curve at the end.
Has a very big ego and provides JUST the textbook. He's condescending and doesn't help his students learn. I spend a lot of my days working on this class and it didn't pay off. I expressed that to him and he didn't care a single bit. He just told me I was doing something wrong. Didn't get over 73% on any of his tests.
Doesn't care about students although he claims he does. Doesn't care about efforts, just numbers you score on the test. I tried to tell him how much time I spend on his class and he didn't care and told me I'm doing something wrong. He's unwilling to help and he makes his students feel stupid if they ask questions to further understand the material
worst professor I have EVER had. He doesn't care about students or their extreme effort to succeed in his class. I have spent tons of time preparing and it does not translate to exams at all. He wont help at all or respond to emails. take any class but his if you want to do good and learn anything
Take his class if you do just fine off of reading the textbook. He doesn't care to spend additional time teaching his students to further their understanding, just tells you to spend more time with the textbook which is his only source of teaching. I asked him to go over additional examples with me and he literally said no...
Currently taking the summer online version of this class so I am aware this class is harder due to the short time frame. My main complaint is how short the exam times are despite having several long answers with multiple parts and quite a few multiple-choice choices requiring some math. Will not curve, even if the class average is 50%.
THE WORST. Each time I asked a question, he wouldn't answer it b/c it wasn't "accounting-related" even when it was about the homework or tests. He was rude, condescending, & would repeat the "methods for success" from the syllabus. I got As/Bs on the homework/papers & failed all 4 tests due to time limits. I paid a lot of $ to teach myself.
Graded only on performance and you will not succeed with in his class. He told me to "say goodbye to my good GPA" after expressing my frustrations in his class. He's an extremely hard grader regardless of effort in his class, and he simply could not care less if you are failing and frustrated. He makes you feel stupid.
Fun class but a good amount of work
Habib is one of most interesting professors at MSU. He is hard to get used to but if you give him some time and respect, he becomes so much easier to work with. He's hard on you because the content is just as hard. If you actively show up to his office hours he will be more inclined to help you in specific situations. Do the practice problems!!
Habib is a good and funny professor, and he cares about learning but likes to test on the most complex topics which makes it more difficult to do well. Exams were on paper so practicing and studying on paper definitely makes a difference. Lectures are hit or miss on clarity as two students present the chapter and then Habib provides a summary.
class median is around 70 percent on each exam, student with highest performance in the class gets a B+ grade. Likes to grade harshly compared to other profs.
Habib is a knowledgeable professor who sets high standards. While his lectures can feel like textbook recitation, his exams are challenging. Stay on top of the material and utilize resources like Unstuck ai alongside the textbook for strong preparation.
A harsh and strict instructor who holds you to a higher standard than you are employed. Refuses to curve exams even if the class average is 58% and doesn't take any accountability, all blame falls on you even if you spend hours studying and revising. Unfortunately, you're stuck with him for several classes if an accounting major.
Habib is a very difficult professor. He is obviously knowledgeable but isn't able to teach super well. Graded by only a few things, the homework is fine, but the exams are extremely hard, even if you study for hours. He blames the bad test scores on the students and never realizes that maybe its him who should change his methods.
He doesn't do a good job teaching. He makes everyone do a presentation for each chapter and then he summarizes the presentation. He does very little actual teaching. Everyone fails the exams and then he blames the students. The same thing happened in ACCT301. Everyone's grades get curved from an F to a C at the end of the year.
I went to the hospital one week and I got told that I should focus on my education :)
He's a sweet and funny dude, but the class is pretty tough. I don't mind that he is a strict grader because the material he teaches is very important to any business major, especially accounting or finance, and if you try in this class, you will have a good foundation for your future classes/career.
I came into accounting with an open mind, but he is a horrible professor, rude, & bad at teaching. If you have to read out loud, 99% of the time he'll talk over you- tbh if you take him the chances you will have to drop the class or retake are very high. Exam 2 was the hardest and most of the class failed & he'll still say he is a good professor.
Horrible professor. All he does is read the textbook, and not teach. Anyone can read the textbook, so basically you teach yourself the material. He expects you to know how to do everything and if you don't he'll claim you don't listen, even when you do. Save yourself the trouble and take a different professor.
I had to drop the class because I didn't think I would get a C to pass. Habib is not good at teaching, goes over things too quickly and has unrealistic expectations. Honestly, if you do bad on one exam there's a chance you won't even pass the class, and even if the whole class does bad he won't take accountability.
I would say Habib is knowledgeable but the teaching is not the best and it is hard to learn from him. Not much homework, but exams are very hard. Quizzes are extremely detailed from the textbook so you must carefully read each word. He says it's not about remembering the material, it's about understanding. However, exams are pure memorization.
Not much homework, but the layout of the exams are way different than the homework which makes it confusing and hard. The exams make up a big portion of your grade so if you do bad on 1 or 2 than you are screwed. He will say that it's not his fault when the whole class bombs an exam. I believe how students do on exam reflect the professors teaching.
Accounting seems like it wouldn't be that hard, but it was very difficult. The textbook is confusing, the exams are confusing and the quizzes are so detailed that if you even miss a detail reading the textbook you will do bad. Habib is knowledgeable but the way he words things is confusing. Had to drop considering I wouldn't get a C in the class.
I liked habib and his style of teaching, and I actually enjoyed his lectures. He is very blunt and can come off rude if you're not used to being around someone like that. He's very knowledgeable and I do believe he truly cares about his students and has good intentions. He has high expectations of his students and that can rub ppl the wrong way.
The exams are hard, but if you focus on understanding how to do the problems you'll be fine. I'd say the multiple choice is hardest. I know people who got pretty low scores on the exams and still passed the class. He does curve the grades at the end of the semester and doesn't often fail people. Habib gets a bad rap, but he cares abt his students.
I would not recommend taking this course with Habib. You read straight out of the textbook with little actual lecturing which makes it very hard to understand the concepts and how to do the problems. After most of the class does very poorly on the exams, he lectures us on how we need to do better.
About 20% of the class had dropped he said. I think that says enough.
3 exams and 1 final. I did poorly on 2 exams and even the final. I was not supposed to pass the class, but I believe having good attendance and not dropping the class when most people did gave me the chance to pass. He rounded my grade to a C so I didn't have to retake. He is an ok professor, but the exams are very hard.
One of the better professors IMO because you actually remember what you learn in Habib's class, unlike many others. He is funny and cares about his students. Exams are tough but if you read the textbook more than twice before coming into class like he recommends, you should be fine. Only nitpick is that he doesn't use school's D2L system.
