Mrs. Figueroa is wonderful! The work that is expected of you is very clear in the syllabus as well as on VHL. She typically responds to e-mails very promptly and she really gives you good feedback. She understands you are learning a foreign language and does not dock you points for mistakes that are easy to make. Great class, even better professor!

Just finished the 8 week online course for Spanish 2, truly a very understanding professor when it comes to online mishaps and deadlines. There was a lot of work, but it was worth it. She is a fair grader, as long as you do the work theres no reason you wont get an A! Mrs. Figueroa is very helpful and responsive to any/all emails as well!

I absolutely love profesor Figueroa, she is an amazing profesor and person. I had a issue at the beginning of the class with my code, I enrolled in another course in the vhl central website (I technically made a mess), she personally called me and helped me out. She cares for her students, she wants us to learn. Def. Would take her again!!

Professor Figueroa is amazing. I have loved this class very much . I have learned more than I thought I could. I am very impressed with Professor Figueroa, she really takes the time to make sure her students are getting things done and she is very understanding.

Abbie Figueroa was a great professor. If you came to her with a problem she would try to work with you to help you succeed. Most (if not all) of the work is done on VHL which was very easy. Just make sure you allow yourself time to finish it. I would take her class again in a heartbeat.

Figueroa is very sympathetic, and even though Spanish is difficult, she is not.

I absolutely LOVE this professor! My virtual chat was not working and I emailed her after missing two. She gave me a fair alt. assignment and let me redo the ones missed!! Super understanding. She makes learning Spanish much more enjoyable. I took online. No need to buy the book, just the online access code. Online textbook is on it.

Amazing professor over all, but if you are fluent in Spanish, talk to an advisor about the optional Spanish test that can exempt you from taking 16 credits of Spanish with a certain score! Even though I didn't really need this class, I really, really enjoyed it, she is one of the most amazing people and she is very understanding.

Lots of homework but its not extremely difficult. Quizzes and tests are usually fairly easy! Just make sure to set aside time for homework each week and you will be fine! She is really great about the website messing up occasionally. Im 100% taking her again

She is a great teacher which is hard to find. She will work with you and only wants success for each of her students. If you struggle with Spanish she will respond quickly to help you. This was my second class with her and it's been great!

SPAN 1225 Took this class online. Homework has videos, vocab quiz, video chat, reading, and pictures. I would say if you work hard on the homework and do it, than the exam will be easy. The homework is harder than the exam i think. The homework you get 2 attempts and can ask instructor for help. If Spanish is hard for you, do not take online.

Took Spanish as an online course. The homework was harder than the test. I found the professor was willing to work with you and answered any questions in a timely manner.

This class has the homework that you would expect for a 5 credit class, but If you have to take the class, Mrs. Figueroa is the way to go. She understands that this is a new language so she grades fairly on the oral and writing assignments. She was easy to reach and wants you to succeed in her class!

I took this class online, so I didn't interact with her in person, but she answered any emails I sent her pretty quickly and she was pretty good at getting us any extra information that we needed for the class. I've enjoyed the program we've used for this class, it's really pretty helpful, even if the videos are a bit cheesy.

This professor does an excellent job of setting up the course workload and grade expectations at the very beginning of the semester. After taking Span 1 with this professor I had NO hesitation in taking her for Span 2. The online option for this course which combines, written, listening, verbal practices and cultural traditions is great!!

Completely ONLINE course. Clear syllabus and class structure.

Along with attending my university and needing this class to graduate from it this semester. I decided to go back to what I am familiar with and that's a community college setting. Taking this course was so helpful towards me completely my last semester of college. She is EXTREMELY helpful! If I was able to, I would have taken her course IN CLASS.

I took professor Figueroa for Spanish I, and I enjoyed her so I took her for Spanish II as well; both online. All homework is done on VHL. Virtual chats are a part of your grade but are difficult to get to work on your computer, as a a lot of my class had this problem. Final project is to make a powerpoint over your hero, which is fun.

I enjoyed the class. It felt like the professor was really interested in how i was doing in the class.

I took professor Figueroa for both Spanish 1 and 2 online. You mostly use vhl to do most of the homework. If you take spanish one semester then take spanish two the following you wont have to buy the access code again if you got the 12 month access. Which I found that super convenient. I definitely recommend this professor.

Shes great. Took spanish online and never had to go anywhere and she was available for help via email or through the online portal. Doesnt count off for every mistake and keeping a good grade is easy.

Professor Figueroa was the best online teacher I have had by far. She was extremely responsive to my emails and calls. I struggled on some assignments, but she was always there to help me figure it out. She mostly cares that you try your best and complete the work. I would definitely take her again online for Span 2.

She really cares about you doing well in class. She worked with me, while having an emergency, and allowed late work. There were times that I had technical difficulties with website, and she was NOT the type of professor to say "well if you had started earlier..." She was a great professor, compassionate and understanding. I recommend.

When I say lots of homework, this is expected because it is an online class and it is also a foreign language you're learning. Overall this was a good class with a very well laid out syllabus. You know what to expect and what is expected of you.

This professor was very helpful during a summer time period, where you have a lot of assignments due one after another. Each week she would send out emails with the assignments that would be due that week and it made it very easy to get all of the assignments done. There is a lot of work but it is manageable if you put the effort in.

This was probably the most accessible a professor has been for me in an online class. Professor Figueroa was more than willing to help you achieve in her class. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone, especially if you are uncertain if online classes are for you.

For an introductory level course I thought that she was about as fair as any professor I have had. Her grading is divided up into nearly 10 categories each composing 10% of final grade, this means that you can suck at hearing spanish like me, but still do good in other categories like speaking spanish to make a decent to above average grade.

She has been a great professor, the work was a little long but she does good at communicating with you every week.

I had to really work for my grade but my professor was quick to help or answer questions. I have friends that took this course at another college they speak and comprehend significantly less Spanish than I now know. I enjoyed the assignments that enabled us to use Spanish in realistic ways such as : oral conversations, written letters/emails, etc

I took this course online. The book is online, however, I also purchased the physical book and felt it helped me have it in hand while doing my homework. Professor Figueroa have great feedback and was ready to reach via email. I will be taking her Spanish II course this fall! She's a gem and super fair!

I took Spanish II online and this class is hard. I never had any problems with the professor. She grades fairly and is pretty lenient with due dates. I enjoyed this class.

Easy class, lots of homework if taken online

I took the 8-week course online. There was a lot of homework, but it wasn't too bad, as long as you kept track of the due dates. Lots of homework was expected though since it was a short class. Professor Figueroa always sent emails out at the start of each section, listing what was due and when it was due. Definitely will take her again!

I took this class over the summer and it was probably one of the most pleasant summer classes I have taken! There is a lot of work but it's an 8wk course so that is expected. Professor Figueroa was helpful and cared about her students! I really like the she sent out emails every week about class updates.

Although it was an online class, she answered all my emails quickly and was extremely helpful! Even on difficult questions where the grammar seemed weird, she made it easy to understand via email. I would definitely take her again!

This class was incredibly helpful in expanding my knowledge of the Spanish language. The textbook was helpful in explaining the tenses and when they should be used and Senora Figueroa gave fast and helpful feedback if any concepts weren't clicking. She was fair in her grading and clearly lined out how to do well in her class - from the beginning.

I took her online. I've had a couple of online Spanish classes at OCCC before her, and it was basically the same thing, down to the syllabus. Abby was the only prof to communicate more and give extra credit though, so she's got that going for her.

Professor Figueroa was the instructor in my online section of SPAN 2113. Her class was well organized and the expectations she had for us were laid out well in advance. In addition, she gave useful and timely feedback on assignments, and I always felt her grading was fair. Would recommend completely.

I've taken her for the last 3 semesters and she makes Spanish a breeze! Just finished the Intermediate Spanish course online; her online classes are great and she is AWESOME about replying to e-mails quickly. She's easy to work with too! Just don't be afraid to ask for any kind of help. Definitely recommend.

I'm taking Intermediate Spanish next semester with her, and I'm walking into the class not nervous at all. She doesn't make Spanish feel impossible like it has in other classes. Great professor for online Spanish courses!

She was very responsive and wanted to see all of her students succeed. But if you don't do the work, don't expect to pass. If you need help, she made it clear she would be as helpful as possible if you tried to learn the material. I definitely recommend taking a class from her.

For years I was afraid of taking Spanish because I didn't feel that I would pass the class. Professor Figueroa not only gave great feedback, but she understands that learning another language is not easy for everyone and she graded everything accordingly. Amazing professor and I highly recommend her.

Abra is a great teacher to take Spanish with. She outlines all the work needed for the week and is super helpful with anything and everything. The only thing I did not like about the course was the VHL system used, if you have already purchased the connect through Mcgraw hill for $150+ you also have to spend over $100 for the connect through VHL

Great professor and very helpful with any questions, even gave me advice on how to better apply the laguage skills outside of the online course. The only thing I would Suggest for this class (not the professor) is that if the class is offered on campus (which there wasnt for me) then take it on campus. I don't feel like I truly grasped it online.

I took the online 8-week course, and to be honest, it wasn't as bad as I thought. You will be having A LOT of homework to do but it is doable. There are tests and quizzes between each chapter and a final project instead of an exam. Make sure not to procrastinate. Figueroa is a very nice professor, offers extra credit to add to the Final.

Abra Figueroa is a great professor. I have taken spanish one with her and now spanish three, both online. As long as you do your work, you should get the grade you expect. She is very helpful and easy going.

Her class is very interesting and easy to do. She does not accept late work and if you need any help with something she is more than happy to help! She is willing to give you a two week free trial but you have to contact her for that which is very nice of her! Also, she responds back to you on time!

Professor Figueroa is kind and awesome. She really cares about her students. As long as you put in the work you can receive a good grade. She extended a deadline because I could not access my book. She emails back quickly. Grading is clear. Assignments do take a while to complete so do not wait until the deadline. I am taking her again in the fall!

I took Figueroa for SPAN II online. This course has a ton of homework. Mrs. Figueroa does answer emails or questions quickly. Very cut and dry in emails. They almost seem copy and pasted from all previous semesters. I might've been spoiled with my SPAN I teacher. If there was excess work, we got I day more and he would go into great detail always

Professor Figueroa is AMAZING!

Took this class online. I had a basic understanding of Spanish from high school classes, but was definitely rough/mostly forgotten. This class was very easy coming from that background. It was online, so a lot of the learning is through the assignments and videos. Professor seems ready to help, though, and gave timely responses.

This class was enjoyable and well taught. The work was not too difficult and really contributed to learning. Professor Figueroa was ready to help with any questions.

Professor Figueroa is a gem of an instructor. Considering that she has a Master's in Education from Harvard (!!!), it's safe to say that she knows what she's doing. Not only does she know her stuff, but it's also apparent to see how incredibly caring she is towards her students. You won't find a better professor for Spanish than her.

I will make it short Pro. Figueroa is nice. If you meet with her she does not rush and answers any questions you may have. The eight week online is said to have the highest completion percentage, but it is non stop assignments. Remember it is a five credit class it is the most I have ever had to do assignment wise in eight weeks.

I took online accelerated Spanish 1 and am continuing to Spanish 2. It's a lot more work than your typical class, but that reflects the higher number of credit hours it's worth. Prof. Figueroa always responded to my emails promptly and directed me to specific resources if she couldn't answer my questions herself. She seems v. organized and caring.

Professor Figueroa is great! In her accelerated 8 week Spanish-1115 course and you really have to be on your ps and qs to make the grade and read read read but nevertheless Professor Figueroa is helpful, responds to emails and is very organized.

She is a great professor. She tries to help you al lot when you ask her questions. She is a wonderful professor as long as you do the homework and complete all the assignments, 5 quizzes, 5 tests, 5 virtual chats, 2 writing assignment, 2 oral assignments and the final project. You must try your very best to reach the assignments deadline on time.

The class was good. I felt as if the work load really wasn't all too bad. The need for a text though definitely not a big deal. The syllabus really helped me prepare for the class. Maybe int eh syllabus explain a little more as to where the grade book is because I had a little difficulty trying to find it. Other than that, a pretty decent class!

I took the accelerated 8-week class. Assignments are due every Thursday and Sunday which isn't bad if you don't wait until the last minute to do everything. It is a lot of work but isn't bad if you space it out. Professor Figueroa is very nice and will try to work with you if you are struggling.

I took this as an 8 week online course. All assignments are due on Thursday and Sunday through VHL. The class is simple if you read the textbook and take time to truly learn the material. I finished all of the assignments within the first 2 weeks. Would highly recommend this course!

Stay on top of the online homeworks.

This class was online and the 3rd Spanish I took at OCCC. She always responded to emails quickly and was very understanding. She helped me out when needed. I was not a full-time student at OCCC and she understood that and worked with me. She genuinely cares about you and your grade in her class.

She is an amazing teacher and helps you as much as possible to succed in the class. I took the course online over the summer while volunteering abroad with little internet acess and managed to finish most of the coursework in a single sitting while I had internet. The class is very helpful and I plan on to contiune studying spanish.

I took 20 credits this semester including O-Chem, Anatomy, and some level 4000 humanities at the same time. I ended up finishing most of the work within 2 weeks since I knew at the end of the semester I wouldn't have time for this class. The class is straightfoward and is set up the same as Spanish 1 and 2. Just do the work and you'll be fine. :D

Great teacher understands stuff comes up and helps you work around it

Well, if you had taken Elementary Spanish 1, the coursework would be the same such as you have online homework which you can easily search on Google and find the answers on Quizlet and other such websites. You have 5 vocabulary quizzes, 5 virtual chats, 2 writing assignments and 2 oral assignments, 5 lesson tests and a final project slideshow.

Very easy coursework, but there is a lot of it. She prepares you extremely well. Just do the work (it does take a while), and you will be completely fine.

I had a issue at the beginning of the class with being dropped from the course and she went above and beyond to help me get back in class as well as time to get caught up.

The class was very easy and understandable. There may be a lot of work to do, but with good time management the course can be easy. All in all, class is simple and easy.

I have really enjoyed taking both Span1115 and span 1225 with Abra. She is very understand and will do anything to help you succeed. I highly recommend this course.

I took SPAN 1115 and SPAN 1225 and really enjoyed both classes. She always was clear with grading and instructions and was always willing to help and answer questions. I recommend taking her class!

I took her Spanish 2 course online and was very pleased with the course material and set up. Grading criteria is easy to follow and the homework was always due on the same days every week which is easy to remember. I took the 8 week course so it was a loooot of homework to keep up with so make sure you give yourself time to complete it.

I took her Spanish 2 course online (8-week course). She is wonderful. Her work is very straight forward and to the point; she is very helpful and very easy to reach out to. You will have an adequate amount of time to finish your assignments, but make sure that you don't procrastinate! 10/10 professor, would absolutely take her again.

I have really loved having her as my Spanish professor! She is incredibly understanding in situations and does whatever she can to assist you to be successful in her class. Homework is sometimes a heavy load, but you get two free passes to email her and you get a week extension without any penalty. I'll definitely take her for spanish int. II

Sra. Figueroa has been the best professor I've ever had. Not once in my college career have I had someone who actually cares about me, my learning as well as my financial situation. She took being a professor to being a friend which shows how great OCCC's staff is in general. Kind, Intelligent, and Understandable are also words I'd describe her as.

Professor Abra is an amazing spanish teacher. She is lenient and understands students have other classes. If you miss a deadline, she allows for two assignment deadlines to be pushed back, no questions asked which is incredible. She answers back extremely fast compared to most teachers. Textbook not required, although recommended. Good luck! (:

If you're like me and was very hesitant on taking a language course then you should definitely take this course (online)! The website used to do homework and tests (VHL) is very easy to work with. The homework you get on a 8-week course is not too much but definitely requires some times. The professor was very nice and lenient on grading.

There's quite a lot of work in this class, but considering it's an online Spanish class this is your best bet. The professor is super kind and sends a weekly email to summarize what lessons you have, and you have two opportunities without questions for an extension whenever needed which was super helpful as I'm a full-time worker + student.

Professor Figueroa is the absolute best professor I have had at OCCC. Furthermore, she is the most understanding professor I have had from either OCCC or OU for a language course. I have taken her twice now and each time she has been extremely helpful for any questions or personal situations that have presented themselves.

This is my first time taking her online Spanish course and it was great class to take. It might seem overwhelming the amount of course work, but it goes by quickly. If you have any questions or concerns she was prompted to respond back. Would recommend taking another class.

Very nice and caring. The majority of the difficulty of the class comes from VHL. VHL is very difficult in the order that it teaches (almost dropped the first week).

I recommend her because she doesn't make the online class any more difficult than what it was like learning Spanish in an in person class. Her structure made the class less stressful than an in person class but left learning a lot!

I have taken Professor Figueroa for four courses now. I'm gonna tell you now that she is the best one out there for Spanish-related courses. You learn immensely much from her and allows you to think critically about the Spanish language. She inspired me to use this language in my field and I am forever grateful. Truly a gem.

I took 1115 and 1225 with Mrs. Figueroa during early and mid-spring sessions. I really enjoyed taking her class because, unlike other online classes I've taken here, Figueroa would regularly send us email updates and was easy to get in touch with. The assignments were through VHL Central and were pretty time consuming, so plan ahead!

She does give a lot of assignments but if you stay on top of your homework it is easy to pass.

This class has a lot of assignments, but it's a Spanish class that's online so that should be expected. She's super kind and understanding, and her online classes are easier than others I've taken because it's all laid out for you.

This is my third semester with Prof Figueroa and she is still the best spanish prof! Super easy class, just do all of the work and you'll get an A. She is super caring and understanding! Please take her if you need spanish credit! 20/10 recommend

Shes a great professor! As long as you get your work done and turned in on time you will have no problem. I had her for an 8 week class so it was definitely a lot to do but wasnt a nightmare. I already enrolled in her spanish II class.

I took the 8 week online course. Alot of assignments, but easy to get an A if you stay on top of everything. The platform used was vista and it was a little tricky to navigate at first.

I wouldn't necessarily say that this class is an "easy A", because you are going to work for your grade. Learning a different language is very time consuming and if you don't prepare ahead of time you will be rushed and not as successful. With that being said Professor F is amazing! You will love her. She is very helpful and kind. Take her class!

I love Professor Figueroa as a Spanish professor. If you have the chance to take her class, please do! Taking the class online seems like it would be harder than taking it in person but it feels like the same with the help of Professor Figueroa. Just do the assignments to the best of your ability, ask questions, and take notes and you will pass!

Her class is very helpful. Homework is do sundays and thursday but it isn't hard as long as you do the practice work. There is a lot of homework but not to much that you'll get over welm. I took her in the summer online and it went by pretty fast and it's super easy to get an A as long as you turn in all the work on time.

Senora Figueroa is an amazing teacher that was very helpful and understanding. I recommend taking her class because she will help you learn the information as well as being reasonable with homework.

This class is not difficult, but it can be time-consuming. There are a lot of individual homework assignments through Vista Higher Learning, so if you score low on a few, it won't impact your overall grade. Professor is clear with her expectations and due dates. Very organized.

She is very helpful and understanding! I was having trouble saving my final presentation without losing some of the photos. I was able to email the presentation. She was very nice and told me she will grade it as soon as possible even though I turned it in a week early. I really enjoyed having her class!

What a GREAT professor. Anytime I had to contact her she would respond instantly. She cares so much for her students to learn the material. I will suggest doing homework periodically instead of the last minute. The workload is heavy, but I can't express how I learned so much in only 8 short weeks!

I took her online Spanish courses. There were no lectures to be attended. Just some reading/short videos to watch during hwk assignments. She is very helpful and easy to work with. I took the course in order to gain my foreign language credit and it was so worth it. Super easy and doable.

Professor Figueroa was amazing for elementary level Spanish one! She sends out weekly emails and is available to email if you have any questions. There is a bit of reading. VHL the program you use is confusing at first, but youll pick it up quick! The credit and graded homework on VHL is time consuming so be aware of that. This prof was awesome!

Professor Figueroa is really great! She gives feedback on virtual chats and oral/written assignments. She has also given me helpful pointers on ways to pronounce certain letters as well. Try your best on the homework--it's a good way to practice and fully understand the topic.

I took online Elementary Spanish1 over the summer! She is very involved and is the type to send weekly emails with reminders and notes! Do the book work weekly and there is an easy final at the end! Hoping to get to take from her for the rest of my needed Spanish courses!

Had to re-take this course due to slacking off the first time. My number one recommendation is to literally just do the work, It's not hard, and she is very helpful when it's needed. She's responsive and is a fair grader. I hope to take the rest of my spanish courses with her, 10/10 recommend!

Since I took it online, I didn't interact with her much. She would send out emails at the beginning of each new chapter to let us know what we would be learning/any test we would have over it. The tests were super easy in my opinion. Overall, I really enjoyed her class.

I would highly recommend SPAN1225 with this professor. The class has been a lot of hard work (mostly because learning a language is time consuming), but the professor gives good feedback.

I had to take this course online and was a little worried, however she emails at the beginning of each week providing you with the assignments due and it is pretty self explanatory. It is a decent amount of homework but for an online 8 week course-- it's to be expected. If you do the work you should get a good grade.

I took the Spanish 2 course with her online for the first 8 week period this semester. I also took her during the summer for Spanish 1. She is very responsive and helpful. She will work with you and I would recommend taking her out of all of the Spanish professors at OCCC.

Outstanding professor, though, I wish I could have taken her class as an in-person course; unfortunately, COVID ruined that. Dr. Figueroa is incredibly helpful; she allows for some late-work and gives extra credit on the final project.

The format of the class makes it easy to not fall behind. Deadlines are every Thursday and Sunday and you are required to do all modules assigned.

There is a lot of coursework but that is expected in a 5 hour class. The instructor is very fair and her syllabus answers almost every question you could possibly have. If not she replies to email very quickly.

While this class has a lot of homework, it's simple if you take the time to watch the videos and complete the assignments. She offers two extensions for missed work that allow plenty of time to be completed. Extra Credit is available. On each homework assignment you are allowed 3 chances to get a 100. I have loved having her for both Spanish 1 and 2! My favorite thing about her is that she is easily approachable, and would always answer any questions I had in detailed lengthy paragraphs. Explaining Spanish through email was probably annoying and time consuming for her, but she always made me feel like she genuinely wanted to help me understand.
