Tarango is an easy grade he is very unorganized and may get on your nerves once in while but he is funny and sometimes makes time go by fast. Yet his essay assigments are VERY unclear! he is always late and only gives like 2 essays the whole semester! EASY GRADE, not to learn!

This guy is hot! Anti-religious, tho...anti government, too, come to think of it. I took him over intercession (summer four week) and there is a lot of reading and writing....but other than that, easy class. PARTICIPATE!
he was very unclear of what he was trying to teach.I didnt learn anything in his class.He is an easy grader.he cares more about being liked by his students then actually teaching them..he goes on & on about his personal life then about the homework.I am retakeing english 100 with an instructor that has so far been a better teacher then he was ever.
he is such a bad teacher. He talks about everyone including some of the other classes that he is teaching like his english 09 class... He should look into an other profession for a career.. he gives pointless homework and is very unreliable. He teases people alot and puts them on the spot to mock them.over all my point is that HE SUCKS!!!!!!!!!
Awesome teacher. I don't see how anyone could speak poorly about him. He was very clear about everything, easy on grading, and a nice guy. Definately take this class.
if you want to learn then dont take this class he spends more time talking about his hobbies and his life then about the lesson.his class was toooo easy and he didnt teach anything all his class was "take a 30 min break and read this section here and will talk about it when you get back"he is a horrible teacher that should be fired!!!!

he is a kool teacher and at the same time very strict. He doesnt get mad at you for not doing your work becuase he knows that you are harming yourself. I have to say that he a great teacher. His cladd is fin and intersting. And hes also really hot.........
I had Tarango over the summer and he is a great teacher! It was mostly group discussion but he wanted everybody to speak their mind. I think his grading techniques depends on the class. And YES HE IS HOT!!
great teacher, really tries to help his students out. he does cuts alot slack to puente students and i mean a lot, if you just talk to him he will do what he can to help you out.

Be Prepared to do ALOT of reading as this teacher knows his literature. Very enthusiastic and funny. He is lenient in his assignments and will allow extra time to complete without grading you down. He grades every assignment on the persons own technique of writing, not just how he would write it as other teachers do Very fair teacher al together

He makes the material very interesting and relevent to today. If your not afriad to talk back you can get into some halarious discussions and arguments with him. its up to the student to learn though because hes not strict at all. if youre a girl its almost impossible because your most likely day dreaming about what you want to do to him...
reminds me way too much of high school... and wastes time. id rather go in, get out, go to work, etc... not sit around waiting for the teacher and spend a long time chatting about nothing in class.

I took Tarango for 165 and 110. Personally, I think he is an amazing teacher. Even though he gives most students good grades, I wouldn't say he is easy. I love Tarango and will take every class I can with him. He helps with any question you have and never makes you feel dumb for asking.
Ok this teacher really is amazing!!! hes funny and smart. i really like the way he grades. this 4 week summer class is so easy, but there is a lot of paper assignments but it's not that bad. and you get to watch movies that relate to each topic its really laid back!
Prof Tarango made the lessons/ideas easier to understand and it was a lot more interesting than i thought an english class could be. I was never bored, even after a long day. His class did require some reading and writing but it was rewarding. I learned a lot without even trying so maybe u will too =)
well...i took the four week session for summer 06, so it was overwhelming with writing assignments every night =(. but all in all this teacher is wonderful, he explains reading assignments very clearly and is always willing to answer questions. he targets your grammar, so becareful and proofread all papers or risk many points on those errors.
best teacher at goldenwest by far! take him u won't regret it!

Mr. Tarango rocks. His class is very "laid back" and relax. All u have to do is to show up in the class and talk because 25% of grade is "talking". 3 essays, 8-10 short papers and final is super easy. He also shows students Rated-movies in class and write about it for EC. If u don't like to talk in class, please don't take it. This dude is awesome

Summer 2007 class Mr Tarango is truely one of the best teachers I have had. He is super funny and his lectures are entertaining.

Be prepared to participate in class discussions.6 week course,there was a lot of writing, but it wasn't hard. If you can't get into his class (he's super popular) just petition- he'll let you in. Although Tarango is late often, his class is an enjoyable experience. Even so, I wish he had taught me more than what I already knew. If you write the min page required, you will get a C (mediocre paper-grammatical errors & lack analysis). He's a fair grader (grade = quantity + quality + grammar).

There's alot of participation required.U need to talk alot in his class to get an A or he'll give u a B.He said something about talking your eyeballs out.He's lenient with students turning in assignments late.He's funny and talks a lot about his family.He's always late to class.Doesn't reply to emails. Tarango is entertaining, to say the least. He is rather liberal, so if that is not your cup of tea beware. Still he is a good and fair teacher. I got an A, just do what is asked of you plus a smidge more and that is an easy A if you ask me. Lots of opp. for E.C
Amazing teacher. He's extremely laid back which makes a good classroom atmosphere. He gets off topic a lot, but when he's on task the discussions are insightful. I learned more from him than I have my entire time at GWC.

I took this class during Intersession and loved every minute of it. He is fairly easy and makes the class entertaining but you must be active. Always voice your opinion. He does his best to answer questions through email and I never had trouble reaching him. Assignments are easy but require thinking. Take his class if you can
I enjoyed taking his class very much, he does make the class exciting and he talks a lot and is very down-to-earth. I think he's not like traditional teachers who care abotu other stuff: on papers he cares more about creativity rather than format and stuff like that. Take this class if you like to talk a lot!

He's awesome!! Very fun class, he is hilarious! I would recommend taking him. Just because he's funny though, doesn't mean you can't do your work. You must TRY and make an effort when you write. But he is fair. Don't mouth off to him !lol.
GOOD TEACHER!! highly recommended take him if you can :) he grades super easy, but that does not you get an A easily just be careful to edit a lot on all your papers because he checks for grammar mistakes too, and if the essay is interesting :D good luck :]

There aren't enough words to even begin describing him. Intelligent, humorous, and laid back. Please do your work. Just because he's "easy" doesn't mean you'll get an A. It takes A LOT to get an A. And yes, he's gorgeous.
GREAT TEACHER!! He's totally laid back, and he has a great sense of humor. It's one of the only classes I actually enjoy going to! Out way early every class and he cancelled 5 classes so far. Great teacher and encourages everyone to talk in class. I'm pretty shy but i enjoy speaking up in this class. And he's pretty good looking if i must say haha

This was actually a class i looked forward to going to! He is super laid back, down to earth and really funny! but still, his main priority is to teach and he does everything he can to get the class involved and understand the material. the class is a lot of essay writing (punctuation!). you have to actually try to get an A but well worth the effor

he is an easy A if you take during the fall semester or spring semester,but if you take it during the summer semester which i did you have to work really hard to get an A since it is harder during the summer for 4 weeks.. i managed to take both english 110 and english 100 in the summer for 4 weeks.. he is an awesome teacher :D
I don't know why everything thinks he's easy, he's not. I thought that going into this class, I would receive criticism on content (on my essays) but all I got was grammatical corrections. He's hilarious and I have a great time in his class but I wish he would give us more constructive steps to making us better writers. Other than that, easy B.

He is very open-minded, strange, funny and laid back. Kind of rich hippie-ish. Organic latte style. He is very into his work and it shows he really loves his job, which makes such a great difference in teachers.

A very funny guy and very liberal. He is helpful and offers extra help if needed. His personality makes this mundane class tolerable. My son took his class first and told me that I would like the professor which I did very much. So far, he is the best teacher at Golden West College that I have met. I recommend the class highly!

I am currently taking his class in the fall semester. So far he has been a great teacher. We were assigned 4-5 small essay responses (about 2-3 pgs long) and one major essay (5-6 pgs long), but we haven't gotten any quizzes yet. Participation is key in his class. You want him to notice you because he is more helpful to familiar faces.
Professor Tarango is definitely hand downs the only professor I ever truly enjoyed having. He's very fun, hilarious, helpful, liberal(?). Remember to write quality essays, especially in your grammar. My only problem is that he swears like a sailor, but that's just me. Highly recommended!

This is my second time taking Abe and my second review for him. Aside from his witty comments and undeniable charm, Abe is a great teacher. That being said, he is not the best. If you want a straight forward teacher with black and white answers, don't take him. He tries to get you to think outside of the box and for some people that can be too hard
His class is not easy like many students think. The assignments are hard because you never know what to write, but it is interesting to be in his class and listen to him

Do not take anyone else for any English course except Tarango! He makes lecture extremely fun and you won't be bored. Hell, you even LEARN in his class! He's like Jim Carrey and James Franco rolled into one with an incredibly bizarre yet hilarious sense of humor and intellect. He's also laid back, but is adamant about excusing any laziness.
First of all, He is HOT, and funny =) AMAZING teacher and as many students mentioned already, he is very patient about teaching as well as current events happening in the world nowadays..... TAKE HIM
Abe is a great professor. He definitely tries to make the class interesting, as he is passionate about the subject and the things we read. He loves talking about controversial topics. A couple of big papers, a few short essays, no biggie. He's pretty lenient and understanding.
Definitely makes you think and you'll appreciate his class for that. He's pretty spontaneous and he'll expect you to go with the flow so if you're the kind of person who needs a rubric and instructions on how to form your own opinions, he's not your guy.

If you're already comfortable with the English language and you want to be challenged, Tarango won't push you very hard. If you're still a little shaky with English or essay-writing, he'll be very helpful for you. He tells a lot of hilarious stories too.
This guy is cool and smart. He comes off like he is being totally spontaneous, but when you think about everything that you've covered after the class, you realize he came prepared, just not like a robot who has taught the same thing the same way for 10 years. You will definitely think in his class.

However, there is a lot of work to keep you busy all semester. A few short papers and 3/4 major papers, but he gives you plenty of time to get them done. Take him!!

Attendance isn't mandatory grade wise but content wise is. He is really cool and the lectures pass fast. By far the best professor I've ever had, makes me wish I was an english major. I highly recommend him.

Just take him, you won't regret it. Let me just say it, he's easy. But not only that, he's hilarious and awesome to talk to and comfortable to be around. I want to grab a beer with this guy. Seriously, I don't recommend this professor because he spends most of the time taking about random things. His lectures are so boring and you probably learn nothing at all. He is hilarious, easy, but if you want to improve your writing skill, take someone else! I wish he had an online class to save our time. No feedback on paper and no office hour.

He's funny and a good teacher but the thing that really bothered me is that I didn't know what grade I got until the grades came online, a month after class ended. I was definitely not pleased with my grade. A tip for you future students, nag him on what your grade is because you'll be in for a surprise when you get your final grade.
Prof Tarango is alright. He's laidback but if your a student your basically blind when it comes to your grade because you won't know it until the class is over and he is hard to get a hold of when you need help. Funny guy but if you're serious about schoolwork then take someone else.

Great professor! Kind of a lot of essays but there not too long and he's not picky about MLA and stupid stuff like that as long as you explain yourself well and get into it you'll pass the class no problem.
Often ends class early-which I like because I have other things to get on with-but if you want someone to teach you stuff like grammar, he won't do it unless he sees that you need it. He's charming and I've almost cried from laughing so hard in his classes, which never happens :P He doesn't believe in social media, so he's hard to reach
Took the summer class. He is a cool guy. Class homework consisted of three 5-6 page essays and a couple of 2 page essays. He usually lets us out early. In class we only read a few pages from the book, watched some videos, and then discussed the topics with each other. As long as you are a decent writer and know the MLA format, you should be fine.
Professor Tarango is the funniest professor you will ever take! He's really laidback and interactive with his students. In his summer class, we watched movies and wrote an essay a week related to the topics in the movies. Very little busy work, he lets you out early, and is willing to help you. Essays are easy to ace
EASY class to take and pass, there is no way you CANNOT pass this class. It's a piece of cake, he is an amazing professor at explaining things and helping you out, he makes time fly by and makes you understand english like no other professor. I took two courses with him and succeeded, even if you are a bad student and he will add waitlist.
Grades are solely based on long essays, and we weren't assigned homework at all. His class was generally easy to follow along and he was a funny, cool teacher. This was my first class at the school and I don't regret it. One thing I didn't like was when he checked my rough draft and told me that I 'nailed it', then gave me a B on the final draft...

not your ordinary professor, for random lectures that eventually ties into the topic, assigns a lot of readings and short essays, very funny and entertaining, likes to call on random people to answer during discussion time, no tests, pretty much an easy/chill class, I guess its an easy A

He's very funny and inspirational, which makes every class interesting!! He also cares about his students, grades paper fairly and lets student know what he wants. There were not a lot of homework except the papers that he assigned. Take this class and you won't regret it!

Tarango started my 8am class at 8:30 often, which was awesome. His lectures are really interesting and you could tell he has a lot to offer to the world. Funny guy and he does not refrain from saying things that most professors would avoid getting into. Also, he's quite open minded, which is refreshing. Overall, great professor and class.

Wonderful professor! He's hilarious and will give you a good laugh. I took him for Winter intercession and the class literally flew by. I honestly wish he was my professor for 16 weeks. We had to write 4 papers and they were based on the movies we watched in class as well as some readings in the textbook. You must take him or you will miss out!
He's open-minded and really funny. You will not regret taking his class because he's so chill. He's clear of what he expects from his students always. Not an easy A but also not a hard class. I would recommend his class.
Over-the-top hilarious. He definitely knows how to connect funny life experiences to his lectures, & it makes the class worth every second. There are a few papers to write & some occasional readings, but that's the only homework he assigns. If you want a really laid back teacher, choose him for sure.
ABE is the BEST English teacher I have ever had. Truly I loved entering his class, I would leave laughing with joy. Mainly he makes English extremely easy going. I took Tarango for English 100 & 110 and loved each class. His lectures never failed to inspire me and make my day. He's super laid back on attendance/participation so if you have a lot going on outside of school, he's the perfect teacher to take. About 5-6 papers for each class and a few readings. Will definitely miss his crazy class.
Tarango is so laid back that it'll scare you off if you like structure and due dates. He pushes things off all the time and accepts late work within reason. He cares about you passing and knowing how to fill a paper without complete nonsense. Will give you the benefit of the doubt 9/10. Hilarious class and great personality.
Tarango is a genuine character he gives it to you straight. He has helped me become a better writer and helped me learn how to be confident with my own work. He lets you express yourself. Be prepared to write a paper every week but its always enjoyable.

He doesn't give prompts for essays, really wants you to have the freedom to write whatever and however you write. Doesn't respond to emails but gives you basically any and all the time you need to finish essays if you ask for it. If you need to work on your writing skills, not the class to take. Easiest and funnest class I've has so far 10/10.
Tarango relates to the students with eccentricity and humor, gives more creative freedom, flexible assignments, laid-back teaching style, reputable among those who know him. Probably the least serious professor you'll ever meet. Tarango is funny, interesting , and laid back. You will watch a lot videos mostly in his class and include them in your essay. If you are a English major don't take his class bc you won't really learn anything. Short essays are 3 pages, long are around 6 pages. Few readings in the book.
Most understanding Professor ever, definitely cares about the success of his students. Obviously you have to put in the effort as well, but he will help you out. Definitely participate in his lectures. Take him he is amazing!!!!

I loved having Prof Tarnago as my English teacher. Lectures were ALWAYS interesting and fun. Watched videos often and only had 4 essays assigned. I loved him so much I took him for another semester as well. Would highly recommend :) Also he is a cutie.

Best professor I've ever had. He is easily approachable and understanding. Very scatter brained though, misplaced my papers a few times. Definitely need to do the readings. In Eng 100, we watched A LOT of films. Almost every Black Mirror episode. In Eng 110, there were less papers, but harder topics to write about and more pg requirements.
I dropped 3 English courses until I stumbled across him. Honestly makes class very interesting and funny. very easy to approach him and makes it clear what he wants from his essays. I woulds Deffs recommend signing up for his class asap because his class fills up quickly.
The class lasts for 1 hour and a haft. He spends 1 hour mocking Donald Trump and his administration. For 30 minutes left, he talks about his family and his hobbies, how he hates Donald Trump, how he hates using phone, internet and technology, how he loves socialism and communism. No teaching, no learning, no improvement.
If English writing or other classes stress you out a lot, take him. He is, overall, really cool. He gave you freedom to write and express your opinion. He is both a comedian and a professor. If you want a chill English class, take him. Please show up to know when the assignments are given/due.

I took his 099, 100, & 110 English courses. He's one of the best professors you'll ever take! He's hilarious and really cares about his students success. You'll learn life lessons as well but he makes his lectures fun with his stories. Only English professor you should take!! He made me not hate writing essays.

- Easy A - Interesting class and his personality makes the class fun - My semester we watched netflix and did a paper on the episodes of the show #FUN - Never slept in his class - Essay's are 4 1/2 pages. I have never done an essay anymore than that. Overall, I recommended him for english 100/110. Easy A.
Definitely take him if you need the credit. He is an amazing professor. It was always a good time in class until we changed to online due to COVID even then he was still amazing. If you have a question talk to him after class unless he is busy. Workload was reasonable just make sure you do it. Other then that he is GREAT.
Overall This class is a good choice! Total of 3 essays and a couple discussion board posts. Fairly laid back class that is easy to pass. Not always the most clear when it comes to assignment requirements. Sometimes can seem a little disorganized but will always figure it out in the end. Doesn't give much feedback on essays but is an easy grader.
Great professors make english fun. Isn't afraid to talk about tough topics. He assigns fun short stories and discussions and essays are from that. Did a great job on online learning. I do wish he communicated a bit better outside of class in emails and announcements. Other than that this was relatively low stress and a fun class overall. Take it!

You need to write four essays through the semester. And there are some discussions and rough drafts to post. But he doesn't give any feedback on essays. So I actually don't understand the grading criteria And he grades really late and no extra credit which makes you nervous. But if you attend every class and reacts to him you will be fine!

As long as you go to his lectures you are set up for an easy class. He does not respond to emails and he doesn't grade until the very last minute. Half of the class is spent talking about random things and him complaining about his kids. For almost every class for Enlg100, you watch episodes of Black Mirror and reply to discussion boards.
He is a great person, less than great professor. I only wish his guidelines were more clear. No rubrics provided. I took him online and we began class with very interesting videos & discussions. He was very real and down-to-earth. Definitely preferred speaking to him in-person. Overall, a nice person.

If you have more conservative beliefs, you may feel disrespected by his worldview and he curses A LOT. Material is straightforward and requires little effort actually to learn the course. Overall an amazing professor with a great sense of humor.

Part 1: okay first Professor Tarango IS THE BEST he's chill, super fair and really cares about his students even though I'm submitting my assignments VERY late he is very nice enough to put in a submission for a grade hold for me after I spoke to him about my missing assignments after personal struggles on my end, he knows what to do what.
Take his class. Be prepared to watch Netflix videos every day in class but it is so helpful in essays. After watching videos, he teaches us to link what we watched in class to an essay. And he's cute.
TAKE HIS CLASS. He was the best professor. The class has some discussion posts and short write assignments but they are basically free points and three essays. He's hilarious and super chill. He'll grade for full points even if you turn things in really late but on the other side, he grades things super late too. LOVE ABE

There is a lot of work, there are quizzes, essays, and discussion boards every week. The essays all have to be at least 6 pages long, with hard grading and can rarely get full credit for assignments. There are many mistakes on assignments and quizzes that make it difficult to understand what the professor wants. I would not take this class again.!!

He would steer off topic for a while before scrambling and giving us a Black Mirror episode, only for us to have an essay due two days later (with unclear, vague instructions...) Spring 24 fully online. Great prof. Hop onto the assigned zoom/blue button meeting for advice/suggestions for your papers. Flexible with the due dates if you talk to him ahead of time. Great intro class.
Too much work and too little feedback. He WILL redirect you to a tutor. DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO DO HIS JOB. The only communication received is when he accused me of using AI multiple times in a paper. It felt like a witch hunt but its okay because "he's been doing this for 30 years". Isn't reasonable in work, expectations, and communication. Hipster!

He is very very old and unfortunately is very biased on a lot of political problems. Sometimes just out-right misinformed. If you challenge his viewpoint he says he's right and "that he agrees to disagree". He is silent on situations of injustice and spreads extreme misinformation that could bring harm to certain minority .grades based on looks !!!

DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS! He gets upset when you ask him questions. Like he actually gives attitude. It's crazy. And he drones on in his lecture and tends to get lost, so unless you can tolerate boring lectures then his class is basically self-taught. His reviews are not reliable, so make sure you do the homework too. If you're taking him, good luck🫡

100% pick someone else. Hard to follow, most assignments are based on instructional docs that are always hard to understand. His lectures are long, like 1hr + 40mins at times, and 95% unrelated to the course assignments. Nothing helpful spoken during them until the next week stealth final

has very unclear instructions, classes would get dismissed after 5 minutes, made everyone buy a 100 dollar textbook that we only used once, 4 essays that weren't graded till the last week of school so no feedback, stealth final overall a lazy professor who is quick to putting in grades but takes months to grade the work that is important.
One of the worst classes I've taken. Quizzes seemed written by AI. I had to email every single week about problems, questions about stories we hadn't been assigned (same author but not the right story, or answers marked true but the explanation says false. No due dates unopened assignments Timed midterm essay had to be several paragraphs with #ed !
Very grateful to have taken his class. He offers unique perspectives in his lectures and presents a variety of films to relate to the module themes. His short writing assignments, discussion boards, and essays encourage student-led critical thinking. His grading is flexible, and he is very understanding. I enjoyed this class.
