Awesome class! He engages with the class and makes it fun. I was dreading this class, but by the end of the semester it was my favorite and was sad when it ended. E-mail him and go to his office hours if you have questions or want feedback on your speech. He is more than willing to help and wants all his students to succeed.

Never had a boring class, every class was entertaining. Teaching style is very unique, but you will definitely learn the concepts from the projects and activities. You've got to work hard in this class but it's all worth it. Highly recommended especially for Comm majors.

We had to do 7 speeches which sounds a lot but it wasn't as bad as it sounds. I definitely grew into a better speaker because of this class. No tests. Online quizzes.

Ok. Panella is the best! I'm not even exaggerating. Taking a speech class wasn't exactly something I was looking forward to. But I can honestly say I was sad this course had come to an end. You can retake your quizzes up to 3 times, they're easy anyway. He WILL make you a better public speaker. He's just that awesome! Take this course!!!!

Panella is by far the best teacher I have ever had! I took his speech 1a class (a class I have been putting off until the very end, because I am terrified of public speaking) and I have learned more from this class than just how to give a solid speech. This is a class where you learn a lot about yourself. 100% everyone should take his class.

I read the reviews before taking this class and I saw how everyone began terrified with public speaking then ended up overcoming that fear. I surely thought that could definitely not happen to me, but it did! Panella has taught me about the importance of public speaking and although I still get nerves before every speech, I am muchmore confident!

I've have always been afraid to speak in front of classroom or crowd. By far Panella changed the way I speak in front of a crowd. Panella was hands down the most motivational teacher I have ever had. He CLEARLY loves his job which encourages all his students to engage and want to learn. Very funny and makes lectures interesting and relatable. Assignments are very easy if you read the chapters and takes notes during lecture. Online quizzes are very easy and you can submit them up to 12 days after the due date. He's pretty slow at grading assignments submitted online, but other than that, it's an awesome and interesting class!

Panella is an amazing instructor. You can really tell that he has a passion for the subject and really wants students to do their best. He makes you work for a good grade, but doesn't fail you as long as you put forth the effort. I don't even have to take any more speech classes and I'm trying to fit one of his classes into my schedule.

Panella is probably my favorite instructor at SRJC, most genuine instructor I have had. He's clear about what he expects on his speeches and will make sure that you learn from his class. He will set the standard high, but makes class enjoyable. He is super outgoing and hilarious. Don't take over summer if you can't handle doing a speech every week.

Took Panellas speech class and learned alot it was an awesome class, lots of speeches tho. Im taking his COMM7 class and this is his first semester assigning us a cultural museum exhibit. Be careful the group you pick because your stuck with that group throughout the entire class. The exhibit was fun but ALOT of work. Too much for for only a 3 unit

Panella is fun, engaging and truly cares about his students . Participate in group decision, it makes learning the material easier! This course is very vocabulary heavy and both books are a must to pass the class. Group work is also very important so pick wisely! Does take a long time to return grades and midterm is hard but overall a great class.

The best class experience anyone could ask for! Panella really engaged the whole class and everyone was so friendly and into the material. The online tests were a little tricky, but as long as you followed the material and Panella's lecture, they were easy to get a good grade on. Great person, classmates, and experience!

Panella is a great teacher, he is one of those teachers that are really passionate about their field and make you feel eager to study and learn more about it. However, Panella can be spontaneous with homework assignments sometimes, but he isn't too harsh on grading because he is very understanding.

Took his class in Fall 2015. One of the best, most devoted teachers I've ever had. He pushes you to do your best but is super understanding. Does his best to make students feel comfortable speaking and provides students with life long skills. Please take his class, you will love it!

I love Panella's class because I always learn somthing! His passion for teaching is evident with his engaging lectures and excitement of course material. A.C. Panella is a very fun teacher to be in class with and really becomes a friend to all of his students. If you are a nervous speaker be prepared for a lot of speeches, including an impromptu. He can be somewhat of a hard grader and seems to expect a lot out of students taking speech for the first time but teaches you a lot in a fun way.

Panella is a great teacher. You can definitely tell that he loves his job. He's very enthusiastic and makes class worth it. If you're having schedule problems, talk to him before you drop the class, because he will try to help you out. Read the textbook. There are quizzes for the reading, and it's also good knowledge.

This is THE class to take for Comm majors. If you buy the textbook and read it appropriately you'll be set for whatever area of communications you want to pursue. He is going to give you all the tools you need. If you're a communications major, you should fully take advantage of his knowledge and the class in general.

Panella is one of the best teachers I've had at the Junior College. He cares so much about each of his students and really wants to see all of us succeed. Panella is a professor who can inspire their students to look at a subject differently. I went into Speech 1A hating public speaking and came out being able to look forward to a speech. Panella will make you work for a high grade, but the only way to fail is not doing the assignments.

I recently had Panella as a substitute teacher for 4 weeks in my Comm7 class and I am so sad to see him go. I honestly love him more than my original professor and which he could be my teacher for the rest of the semester. He is engaging, casual, and exciting to listen to when lecturing. Panella makes for a solid speech 1a class. Fun and lively environment. He's helpful in and outside of class. There wasn't a lot of work outside of the actual speeches, but there are some quizzes that can be easy to miss. Can't go wrong with this class.

SOOO funny and accepting of any type of person, and helpful whenever called upon. I was surprised that a speech class would have so much homework, and be prepared to have the Canvas confuse the heck out of, although he insists it makes sense. Some reading, not much. Speeches aren't as scary as you think, and everyones really nice. You do learn!!!

The absolute best teacher I have ever had in my life. He is so engaging and makes a 2 hour class fly by. I never wanted to leave. I recommend him for any class. While you do have to do the homework and show up to get the grade, you're going to want to! Teachers like Panella are rare. If you can take his class, do it!

I really like him as a person and love how he connects the entire class so everyone feels comfortable with each other, but after the fires happened I felt like everything was so crammed in together. We had HW on top of HW, and no extensions after the fires! It was so much HW that it started conflicting with my work and other classes! Never again.

Penella was by far my favorite professor that I've ever had during my college time! None of the reading or assignments are unreasonably hard or take a bunch of time. so Just participate, do the work and you definitely have yourself an a good time and a good grade.

This is the one. Period. This course is both creative and technical, and under Panella's guidance, you will excel! Took this as a summer course, all online. We crafted and delivered a different type of speech every weekword of advice; easy to underestimate the amount of time it will take to achieve high marks. Excellent instructor!

Panella is a great professor. I have now taken two classes and both were great. Participation is mandatory but it was way better formatted than any regular class. Panella took the time to work with each student so long as they put in the work he was. Overall a fairly straightforward course as long as you paid attention.

If you are nervous about taking Comm1 take it with Panella! He is one of the funniest and most helpful professors I have ever had. I never thought I would enjoy a comm class but he changed my mind for sure. Be prepared to present quite a bit, but I promise your communication and speech skills will significantly improve.

Panella is an absolutely wonderful professor, caring and dedicated to what he does. As long as you follow along and make it to class while practicing your speeches there should be no difficulty in his class. Very easy going for students that don't like public speaking and will make sure you feel okay and confident in what you are presenting.

Don't recommend missing classes because it's difficult to catch up. Panella provides a welcoming environment for such a nerve-racking subject and he's always available for his students. Also I recommend not procrastinating, choosing good speech partners, and showing up to office hours.

Intelligent, educated, interesting, and fun. You will have to try hard, go to class, and complete assignments. If you do that you are going to get a decent grade. He is fair and you will be happy you chose him to teach this painful class.

He was a good teacher, the class I took with him as a teacher was on zoom/online. He is reasonable about the grading, he grades your attendance so if you don't attend a class your grade goes down. The class was partner based, you and your partner/s would have to have an "A" to avoid the final exam.

TAKE THIS CLASS. Great professor. Perfect class for everyone, but mostly for those who have anxiety or get nervous when it comes to public speaking. Professor Panella is a great educator and makes the subjects clear. For example, taking a section of the textbook and giving you a real-world example that allows you to actually understand. Also if you have a problem just communicate with him and you can work something out. Class is mandatory and the only complaint I have is the reading was a lot.

Panella has been by far the best teacher I've had throughout my time at the J.C! I took his class during the summer through zoom and he made it into one of the most fun and enjoyable classes I've ever had through zoom, he created such a welcoming environment as well. He's also super supportive and funny!

Panella is a great prof.,he was very funny and his lectures were entertaining.I believe there were 2 presentations. However, when I took his online class he was kind of disorganized.He didn't really post any clear rubrics or directions,so for some assignments the info was unclear. He also doesn't post assignments on the calendar in canvas either...

Panella is a wonderful person. They just tend to talk down to students, implying that because students haven't gone through the schooling yet they can't critique their Professors. The workload was too much, we had 3 finals while on a study abroad. Love them tho, if you don't mind the workload I recommend them, & recommend them as a person & friend.

I took Panella's class during a semester abroad in Barcelona. The workload was a lot given we were abroad but after hearing student feedback he lightened it considerably. He's a really good lecturer and obviously knows his stuff. Weekly quizzes & a chapter to read in the textbook, an oral midterm (easy), and a final. Overall it was a great class!

Lots of work but Panella is the best professor for people who truly want to understand the subject. If you're a communications or psychology major I would 100% recommend Panella.

Panella is a great professor. He is the first humanities class I've taken where I had to really apply myself and absorb information to apply later. You will participate heavily, as this class is project based and collaborative on so many levels. In this class you will learn and think on whole new levels.

Panella is a great teacher who actually understands public speaking very well. 40% of each speech grade is based of delivery, which I find great. Delivery is everything. As well as personal stories, these things in my opinion do make the speech whole. His final is to show up to the intramural speech competition and speak, I wouldn't miss it easy A.
