Not a W course however you'll write 4 to 6 papers including a 15 page paper.
very helpful...just have to do homework and you will make an A
Hard to understand her sometimes, she's sweet, and willing to help
Multiple choice tests, easy 100's on homework, no quizzes, very helpful
nice lady, learned no history in a math history class, hard to understand her
she's a funny lady who tries to help u best to her ability. I'd take the class again
Hard to understand - she has an accent. but she's willing to help you understand the material.
Can't speak English. Can't teach math. Can't understand why you fail quizzes and want help.
very nice professor...is willing to help students, funny lady!
She was pretty hard to understand. Her accent is thick, but she is a really sweet lady, and she is always willing to help people suceed in her class.
Cannot speak English very well. Does not really care if you understand the subject or not.
I hated this class so much due to this HORRIBLE PROFESSOR I wanted to drop out of college or transfer to another school. Since this class I have made good grades and had a lot less stress. She should be fired.
Class was useless. Book was great. She had no clue what was going on and did not grade fairly. Very easy class but it reminds me of middle school. Reflections are uselss.
hard to understand her, you have to learn on your own, bc she is not a very clear teacher
Nice lady, funny. Kind of makes the class a little harder than it really is.
She is very hard to understand and is very confusing!
No help! Class is a daze. Spend more time trying to translate her thick accent. She takesforever to give you back grades. If you fail quiz/test don't expect a re-test. She wonders why her whole class isn't full of mathmaticians and make A's all the time.
Take your math at a community college, cpcc, or Rowan, the math dept at UNCC is terrible. You'll be lucky to get an instructor that speaks English. Saenz-Ludlow, is Columbian and very hard to understand. Her teaching techniques are unclear as well.
HORRIBLE that is the only word to use to describe my experience in that class...with the accent you can barely understand her anyways add that to her confusing herself and you are completely lost...if it weren't for my previous knowledge of algebra i wouldn't have made it through her class
Hard to understand. Doesnt teach very well, she just tells you the information and expects you to be an expert and know it. Annoying little questions.."ok? ok" and "correct?" with a weird accent. How do we know? you are supposed to teach it to us!
She makes these jokes, and they suck. She thinks everyone can understand her and we can't. When she asks for an answer noone in the class speaks up about it, we all hate her.
Awful teacher, can barely speak english. It makes you have to pay attention that much harder just to make out what she is saying. Her grading is really weird and hard to understand.
the way she teaches makes it a lot harder than it should be! she gives extra credit but then she always expects a lot from you
hard to understand has a very thick accent, quickpaced while you are copying down the first problem on the board she is doing the third problem and is expecting you understand how she got there when you are still working on the first problem, expects you to already know what you are doing
a little hard to understand her accent...she makes you do a lot of homework but there are also a lot of extra credit options. i thought the class was boring!
sweet lady, knows her stuff, lil hard to understand her through her accent. gives homework just about everyday. tests are straight forward with extra credit points, takes attendance. Gives LOTS of extra credit. Pay attention and go to class. If you dont pass this class then you might as well drop out of college.

Very very strong accent. She is nice but has an extremely weird personality (talks to the board). She gives a LOT of homework and the tests/quizzes are confusing!
I agree with most of the comments here. I just got done with her class and she was unbelieveably difficult to deal with. Went a mile/minute. Expects you to explain EVERYTHING---even on multiple choice questions---and thinks that students' not know their stuff is the reason that jobs are being outsourced...yup, you read that right.
she is to hard to understand, she doesnt no her information that well, and the students always have to correct her. if you dont no your math that well then you need to find a different professor because you wont get it with her.
Sweet teacher with a VERY quirky sense of hummor. She knows what she's teaching. But she has a strong accent and she works on the assumption that you already have a solid grasp of the previous material. She doesn't get into the student's perspective, so when explaining lessons, she looses us along the way. LOTS of homework, and wants to see work.
Just finished her class. Came out with a B. At first she is very difficult. Takes a little time to get use to her teaching style. Assigns about 60 problems of homework a week. Overall, she is an alright teacher.
Just get through this class. It's not that bad. She has a weird way of teaching. Just do the labs given each week (no book required) and write the reflections. You'll be fine. She does have an accent, but you'll catch on. Talk to her one-on-one before and after class or during breaks and you'll see she's really not that bad. She'll like you too.
She is a sweet lady but is super hard, assigns lots of book work. If you take this class be prepared to work. Hard to understand doesnt really teach. Has a really bad accent and odd sense of humor.
This teacher is so hard to understand. She says ok after every sentence. Send her back to Ukraine or whereever shes from. This subject is easy but she cant teach for a damn.
i know she's smart but she can't teach. i'm not bashing her accent because i had one too, but she didn't even try to make the material understandable or to slow down when nobody understood it. way too much homework.
She has a really hard accent to understand at first but after a while you kind of get used to it. There's a lot of work and if you ask her a question in class she'll find a way to over complicate the solution and confuse you even more.
Even when you do magically find a way to understand her you'll still wish you couldn't because you'll only get confused even more. She constantly makes mistakes in class and must be corrected every 5 minutes. Takes off 2-pts per absence which is absurd. Do yourself a favor and get somebody who can actually TEACH you to pass.
very hard to understand, lots of hw, show interest and be nice and she will help you out
She is a Good teacher to me... she really wants you to get an A... if you go to her office hours and any of the tutoring sessions than you will be fine... I say take her for real she has an accent but you will get use to it... it will be fine Good luck and God Bless
Ok here it is. she is foreign, and has an accent. You are required to do a LOT of work, but if you actually DO the work, you will do FINE on the test. This is not a teacher you should take if you want to "slip by" and not learn just make an A. If you are willing to put the time in, you will get the grade. she will help you all the way.
Dr. Ludlow has an accent. If you are not prepared to do weekly homework of at least 50 problems and quizzes, you should not take this class. Since I did not spend appropriate time studying because I wanted to get through it as fast as I could, my test grades suffered from not understanding the material. This resulted in withdrawing from class.
She is tough. No breaks. TONS of homework. Wish I had dropped the class.
PRe Calc... She gives alot of help she is very nice, she does has an accent but she wants everyone to pass...
Okay yes she has an accent, but you will get used to it and it's really not that bad. Yes she assigns a lot of homework but it is really for your benefit because it helps you learn the material. I ended up with an 'A'. U just have to put in the work because it is NOT an easy A. O yea if possible take her classes during the summer much more easier!
Can't understand what she's saying, doesn't explain why she does certain steps in a problem, it's just horrible.
I had her last year and she wasn't the greatest math professor. Very hard to understand b/c of her accent and her way of explaining things, gives out an enormous amount of hw, and lectures are pointless b/c you can teach yourself but attendance is mandatory. Overall, I ended up with an A and hw helped out a lot.
It's a mandatory attendance class. So if your planning on skipping, you might as well drop it before you start the semester. Class is extremely pointless, except her handouts you get in the last third of the semester for the unit circle. Do your homework in class rather than taking notes. It makes it a lot easier. She does give opportunity for EC.
One of the worst teachers i have ever had. the way she grades it is almost impossible to make an A on the homework. the test are hard as well. if you make lower than a 80 on the first exam drop the class.
Homework sucks, takes an hour to do each try and you have to get 80% right on first try, or you have to spend another hour working on it. The tests are ehh... Do not take this class if you cant understand accents well or have other demanding classes.
Foreign, Never understand a word that she is saying. Way too much homework. She works entirely too fast and no one grasps the concept
Her accent is next to impossible to understand. There is a large amount of homework online, and her class is practically pointless to attend, but mandatory. I would not take this class if you do not have a strong math background.
shes horrible, point blank. horrible accent, horrible at explaining math, just all around horrible. im suprised that she actually works at a university. do not take her. you will regret it. the hw is outrageous and takes wayyy too long to do. do not take her.
Did not like this professor at all. She was unclear as far as what she wanted for her assignments and gave practically no feedback. I didn't know what grade I received until the final grades were posted. She didn't follow her syllabus and she gave tons of homework every night. Her accent is easy to overcome, but her teaching style is atrocious.
She does not explain things very clearly. If you ask her a question she tells you everything but what you asked. The 3 hour class stayed the entire time every class. DO NOT TAKE
I have had a lot of terrible math classes at but this one was probably the worst. She didn't tell us what the tests were going to be like. She gave so much homework each week and didn't even collect it. We stayed in the class the entire 3 hours a week and it was horrible. If you don't have to take this class, don't.
She's a very kindhearted person who wants her students to pass. However, she is near impossible to understand (accent), and works out problems without explaining them. The class often has to correct her calculations because she gets them wrong. You basically have to teach yourself out of the book if you want to understand anything.
This class was tough, but I made it through with a B. Ludlow seems awful in class, and her accent makes lectures very hard to understand. Buy the textbook, you'll need it to understand the concepts, because you won't get it from the lectures. However, if you attend classparticipatetalk to her, she will remember you when giving out final grades.
Wouldn't let me finish a test. Always goes over on time. Won't answer questions. Get ready to teach yourself if u can. Holds you hostage and treats you like high schoolers. Don't take her class unless you are a born genius to calculus.
She often talked down to us and called us stupid. Do not expect kindness or help from her.
She is pretty rude to her students, she talks down to them and at the start basically told us she expects us to fail. You have to be ready to teach yourself because she is less than helpful. She instructed us to buy a note packet, but then she doesn't even go by the packet when she teaches. Avoid taking her class if at all possible.
Super hard to understand. Dont take her
I struggled badly the 1st two weeks. I scheduled office hours and she took time to help me understand concepts I had trouble grasping. I ended up with a B in her class. Additionally, she spent her Wednesday lunch every week with me the following semester tutoring me in Calc I, in which I made an A.
Dr. Ludlow is a great professor. The class is made up of primarily homework, 4-5 tests and the final. Attendance is not mandatory since there is a notes packet, but it is helpful. She is sometimes hard to understand, but sit up front and go to her office hours if you don't understand something and you should be ok.
Somewhat hard to understand, be prepared to read the textbook on your own outside of class.
Don't take. She just does the problems like she's the one in college instead of actually teaching
Mrs. Ludlow is always smiling and has an enthusiasm when teaching her students. The material can be pretty fast, but she's very thorough. I love her because she is always ready and willing to help. I feel that if you ask questions and talk to her about what you don't understand she will be very helpful!
Hard to understand and she teaches very quickly. Homework due every class. In my class she would assign usually 10-20 pages of homework and then only collect 1 page
This has been the worst experience Ive had with a professor so far and I now know to stay away from anything that is even associated with Ludlow. She is extremely hard to communicate with, in my person and through email(when she answers). If you are thinking about taking this course, dont. I honestly do not know I made it with by with a B, beware
Dr. Ludlow is not a bad person, and she does care about her students, but unfortunately she is just not a good teacher. She doesn't communicate well (partly because of her accent, but mainly because she is just not a good communicator in general), and she can be perceived as condescending. I wouldn't recommend this class if you struggle with math.
Dr. Ludlow is such an awesome professor. She truly cares about her students and goes out of her way to make sure her students understand the material. For my class, she set up review days on Friday where we could go over and ask her about anything! Go to her office hours and do all of the assigned and non-assigned work and you will be good!
I wouldn't recommend taking this professor at all. Especially online it was hard to understand her and I basically taught myself precalc through the homework which she assigned us from HAWKES I soon stopped listening to lectures and did homework during the class instead.
She was totally awful. Was better teaching on mute.
Terrible professor, very hard to understand, doesnt actually teach the material and relies on websites to teach the material for her. Gives homework out on holidays and requires mandatory attendance to class when the classes are basically worthless.
I stopped listening to her lectures a few weeks into the class. It's hard to understand her and she doesn't teach the material as good. She tries, but it doesn't work out online. The class I took was at 8:30 in the morning and half the time I would end up being lost. Work on Hawkes though. 100 if you do it. Review tests. Two chances on test.8 Tests
She is a terrible teacher probably the worst math teacher I've ever had in my life. Does not give information well, you pretty much learn everything on your own. That's not a terrible thing tho because luckily the material is easy to learn and everything is online. Do not recommend her as a teacher to anyone though.
Just go through hawkes it actually teaches you how to do the problems. Lectures are not very helpful or office hours. Go to TA for help.
Lectures don't make any sense. She stops problems halfway through, will change number with no explanation, and is difficult to hear her. You teach yourself the material with Hawkes. She is lenient with late homework from Hawkes which but there are a lot of assignments and they can be very time consuming. She also crams at the end of the semester.
She is the worst professor I have ever had. The class average for one of the tests was a 30. She does examples and expects us to know how to do it and moves on halfway through the problem. She does not know how to teach even though she tries her very best. A for effort but not really.
My experience in her class was truly terrible as she doesn't speak clearly at all. Professor knows what she is doing and simply does examples on the board while talking to it in the process, doing the opposite of what she is paid to do. I wish I found this site earlier so I could take note to avoid this professor. BTW attendance was required.
If you are taking Pre-calc (MATH1103) avoid this professor by all means necessary. She is god awful at explaining concepts, she explains concepts like you already know them. If you space out as I do often you will space out come back and have no clue what she is going over. She will breeze over important concepts. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!!!!
I went to her office hours 3 times this semester where she scolded and spat in my face for struggling to understand concepts. She will mark correct answers wrong on Tests if she finds reason. full of herself while student average on tests is 30%. her lectures are impossible to understand, she doesn't speak clearly and breezes through concepts.Avoid
I just found out about this site, I took her in the spring of 2022, and I barely passed because I could not understand a thing, I would say if you somehow take this class, go to the TA immediately. The TA is the key to passing this class with this professor. If you don't meet with them you will probably fail with no outside help. Avoid her.
She is a great person and a great teacher. I think many people judge her based on their first impression of her but I would recommend sitting in the front and engaging in class because it was an easy 100 on all of the tests. You can always go to her office hours and she is just really great and funny.
She comes off as a very condescending as she constantly belittled the class when everyone is too nervous to speak up. Sometime she rambles, which makes it hard to follow the concept she was explaining. The syllabus said attendance is mandatory but never took except on test days. I got through the class by going to tutors, who saved my grade.
It was very hard to understand the way she taught. She would get frustrated when it took us a while to understand something. There is so much homework and the tests only have 12 questions. I had to teach myself everything the whole semester. She gives you a lot of resources for success; I just think her teaching style isn't very good.
Pros: Allows you to get extra credit from doing test corrections and all homework can be turned in late. Cons: Professor wasn't good at explaining anything and not sympathetic towards students at all. Constantly told her classes as a whole that they were going to fail.
I took her precalculus course for a summer class. She's responsive and offers plenty of materials to help you learn the subject, like past exams and study guides. That said, the online textbook offered by Hawkes created a lot of frustration with how unintuitive and annoying it was. Would be significantly better if Hawkes was not used.
This professor does not allow any type of syntax error in home assignments, for example I would answer a question correctly but there would be a basic syntax error in the homework assignment, and she would not go over the work manually. Also has an extremely thick accent to a point where its almost intelligible.
This professor was extremely difficult to learn from due to her accent, its almost intelligible. She also auto grades based on the website homework is given, so if you were to answer a question correctly but it gets marked wrong due to a syntax error then you would be given that grade. I would never recommend this professor.
She doesn't care whether you do well or not. She has a very heavy accent, and is very hard to understand. Gets upset whenever no one responds to her question (even though it is answered, but she can't hear it. Would not recommend this professor for anyone.
Very difficult to understand.
I couldn't understand a word she was saying so I dropped the class
