adam is an awesome professor! super relatable and approachable. he doesn't accept late work though, and you can't b.s. your way through his classes. if you do the work and engage in class, you will do well. I'd take him again in a heartbeat
I did like him, yes, but he has a very unique way of teaching. He is very real with students, and that can sometimes be good or bad. I'm basically on the fence with him. You either like him, or you don't, but I would take him again as a teacher, if I needed to.
I did all the homework, which was every day. Still failed some how. Biggest waste of time and money. Guy wont stop talking bout his ex wife.
Mr. Aguirre is a great professor. If you don't like to do homework and engage in class, then he might not be the best choice for you. But if you love anthropology (I actually changed my major beccause of this class) you will LOVE him! He teaches you alot about life and the world we live in. also, DON'T BE LATE! He hates that and you'll lose points.
this guy is ok i guess.. brings way too much personal information into class though. cusses a lot and always talking about his divorce for some reason. probably wouldn't take another class from him unless i had no other choice
Great instructor, class discussions were always engaging and very informational. Very knowledgable and passionate about the material, and presented it in a way that is easily retained. Be prepared for class discussion however.
TERRIBLE TEACHER. he puts you on the spot and calls you out if you do something that he doesnt like. be prepared to do ALOT of reading and heavy writing. you should really only take him if youre an anthro major.
Was taking 4 classes, but after finding out all the work you have to do I had to drop it. This is a class you would take if you were only taking 1 or 2 class's. Heavy homework, and coursework, you have to do a presentation with a group, and the tests are difficult.
I learned a lot in this class. Great teacher! Awesome discussions! Those who complain about heavy course work and difficult tests need to wake up and realize they're in college. Take this teacher, he is great!
This mans expectations are to high. He grades very difficult. If answer is correct, he marks it wrong if not enough detail is included. He takes off points for being late and does not exept late work. He only offers one point of extra credit towards each two pg essay which he assigns. One pg essay due for almost each class and chapter worth one pt
The tests are written by the students and results in random questions, not sure what to study. This teacher experiments with teaching methods at the expense of the students.
Be prepared to read the entire book and an essay due for each chapter every week.Late work is not accepted. The lectures are long, drawn out,and boring.Don't disagree with teacher or he will mark off points.Doesn't allow students to form their own opinion.
Professor was awesome. Gave us 8 extra credits towards the end of the semester that were each worth one point on our final average. The tests were student made and he always gave you the essays ahead of time! Not very difficult if you actually do the work.
Really know and cares about the subject. Is a tough grader, but he tells you exactly what he is looking for.
Exams are extremely difficult. Humdrum teacher not helpful.
He was an amazing professor, I took both of his anthropology claclasses and did well in both. He is really passionate about his work and made me feel engaged and involved.
Great Professor! Extremely passionate about his work! His presentationslectures are interesting, understandable and easy to relate to. Hard, but fare grader. If you do the work and participate in class discussions you will pass the class! He also offers extra credit throughout the semester.
He was a really great teacher and knows what he is talking about. You need the book to do journals every week, but they are easy and only a page long double spaced at that! He's pretty funny and sometimes sarcastic, but overall great class.
Terrible professor for anthropology major, do not recommend, will take different professor next semester, will make you look dumb, professor gets annoyed at the least infraction
He's OK. I wouldn't take his class again. He is very picky about the answers you give him. Sounds like he gets offended if you say a wrong answer.
Just do the work and use your brain
I took Mr. Aguirre for his physical anthropology class and from the first day of the semester, he proved to be a very helpful and funny teacher. He assigns a lot of articles which you'll have to read for homework and he will also have the class get into groups every now then to work on an assignment in class.
He really knows his stuff. Only problems I had was he could be rude and still treats you as if you were in junior high.
Very good at teaching and you can learn many things, but he could be rude. And sometimes get offended by your opinions.
I think this teacher will discipline you, and make you realize many things. He is a tough grader, but your grade is based on how much effort and how hard you work in your class... He will point out your weakness, but in order to help and improve it... And will prepare you to another level of degree... Thank you sir..
He can be rude and not helpful
Honestly Mr. Aguirre is on of the best teachers, he is funny and he simplifies everything down so that its easy to understand. Enjoys when his students ask questions. If you show you care about your grade he won't fail you. There is a lot of reading involved, with really short papers you have to do. Overall awesome professor.
Amazing teacher! He explains the subjects, ideas and theories with clarity. He expects you to read and come to class ready to discuss the reading. Class is always interesting and he does a good job at getting the class involved. He wants to hear your ideas, but only if you've read the material and really know what you're talking about. Relative!
I am taking Mr. Aguirre right now for Physical Anthropology and I love him! Although he can be a little sarcastic, I definitely will miss him. He teachers his students all that they need to know and not to mention he is always ready to answer your question. He requires no textbook. I would definitely take him again, very awesome professor!
I don't get all the other comments bagging on Adam! He was seriously the best teacher I have ever had. I always looked forward to going to class because he always knew how to brighten everyone's day. Test are a cake walk. We write the tests and he gives us the answers!! It's not hard to show up to class and listen. Extra credit too!
Adam was not the worst instructor but not the best. What I did like about the class was as a class we made the test and gave us the answers. If you do the assignments there's no reason to fail. He can be very rude at times like cursing you out, gets offended by answers sometimes. Overall he can be OK. I would only take him again if I had no choice.
Professor Aguirre was very helpful and funny at times. However, he can be quite rude and opinionated. The class was fairly easy, you definitely have to work for your A. The 3 tests are pretty easy as long as you study and know what youre talking about! 3 tests, 5 response journals, 1 group project, 1 case study, and many extra credit opportunities.
Aguirre is the bomb. I'm taking his online class (it's my first) and I love it. He uses funny and interesting videos and photographs to help us grasp what he is talking about. Although there is a solid amout of work, it is not too much for anyone to handle. Plus he's hot.
Great online professor! Great videos and sense of humor. Work included 10+ DQ's, 1 case study, 1 group project, 6 video quizzes, 7 quizzes, and 3 extra credit questions. There is no book for the course, he provides assigned readings. If you don't know what physical anthropology is, you will have an idea after this class. I recommend this professor!
Professor Aguirre is a great professor, the way the tests work are awesome! The class writes it and he shows us the answers, you just have to write them down as fast as possible and study them! You also do easy summary and response journals, all you do is read one of the article options, summarize it and respond to it. Just make sure you review it!
Professor Aguirre is very caring! he cares about his students in and out of class! His class is really easy and really fun!
Can be very rude and gets offended if he does not agree with your opinion. Be ready to read A LOT. Deducts points if he does not agree with your opinions!
This is not an easy class. He was a very tough grader. He was nice, but he was also sassy/rude a lot of the time. Make sure to do the readings because he will call people out on them and also have the play kahoot based on them. You get a lot of journals to write that go with the readings.
Pretty cool guy personality wise, but he was a very tough grader. If you don't give the exact answer he likes then you're wrong. Never failed a class in my life. But I guess there's a first for everything. Essay answer exams are dumb especially when the questions aren't clear. No room for error; there weren't many assignments, besides the exams.
I always enjoyed going to this class. Professor Aguirre was really good at teaching the material while still interacting with the class. It was not an easy A but I wouldn't say its difficult as long as you do all your work and pay attention. He also provides some extra credit opportunities so take advantage of that. Great class, highly recommended
Was a great semester. Adam knows his stuff. Each class writes their own exams!so you know exactly what to study. He gives really good feedback on work.
Best professor I've ever had. Lectures are detailed and not at all boring. Would take again for sure.
He's cool.
Love this guy. I've taken all of his classes.
Tough grader.
Professor Aguirre's Anthropology classes will teach you more about humanity and inspire you to be a better person. He has the ability to make things that happened millions of years ago relevant to us today. Very good class, very good professor!
Class is boring, pointless assignments. I feel like you don't learn much from his class or assignments, 5-6 assignments weekly plus lots of readings, videos, and group work. The group work is the worst for the online class because its hard to get everyone to work on it at the same time.
He was definitely not my favorite professor. He is a very hard grader and any little thing wrong he will take points off. He really changes your participation grade which is annoying. Beware that he will call you out and make you feel dumb. Out of this entire semester I was most distracted by how hard he trys to be cool.
Here's the thing he's great but he is such a harsh grader. If you don't answer the way he wants you will lose points. His lectures are very easy to understand and he doesn't use hard to use vocab. The one-piece of advice I would give would be if you just came from bio 2 almost all of this class is just a repeat.
Here's the thing- He lets you create your own questions for tests but he takes points off if you don't answer to his liking, or if it doesn't "make sense" to him. He calls you out and voices unnecessary opinions. He seems cool as a person, but def not as a teacher, never again.
This guy always seemed to go out of his way to make class interesting. It wasn't always, but I appreciated his efforts. He clearly puts a lot of work into it and the class atmosphere was always fun and comfortable. And I have a feeling I'm going to remember a lot more from this class than some of my others.
AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME! VERY COOL DUDE. The class has a regular level of difficulty considering it is college but the stuff he teaches is cool and he makes it that way. You will enjoy this class.
Adam has everything that I look for in a professor. His class was one that I looked forward to going to. He is a honest person, so dont ask silly questions if youre sensitive. Hes definitely one of my role models now. Everyone was so comfortable with each other in class and Ive never had that before. Class required some effort, but its easy.
I'm taking this professor on-line right now and I'm loving it. The workload is very manageable and he changes things up a lot so its interesting. I liked learning about the monkeys and stuff and his little videos are fun sometimes.
This was a really fun class. Professor kept it very interesting and there was always something new to do. He's great, although the tests were a bit tough. You have to put EXTRA effort in this class which is hard if anthropology is not even your major.
Interesting teaching style. Students make the tests, nothing on quizlet. You get graded for your work, when you are to do a group project and your group doesn't help, you will not be marked down they will. Lots of extra credit assignments, easy.
Very straightforward and as long as you make an effort and communicate, you'll have no problem. Participation also gets you points.
Aguirre is cool. You definitly have to show up and do the work, but its not that bad. And he makes it fun and stuff. I know why apes and monkeys are different. Definitely worth it.
Mr. Aguirre was great! He really knows the class material and makes the lectures interesting. Would totally take class with him again!
I enjoyed this class but it does require work. Mr. Aguirre is pretty cool, he'll make the time to talk to you outside of class if you have questions.
I didn't know what to expect from this class, but it turns out I relly like anthropology. makes me look at the world in a new way. Mr. aguirre was really into the material and he knows his stuff. is willing to answer questions outside of class if needed.
Took this on-line. He was good. There were some videos. Not a whole lot of work. Wasn't an EASY A. but wasn't hard either. Would definitely take again.
I didn't know what to expect with this, especially since is rmp score was kinda low. but the course was intersting and super easy! will definitely look into other classes with adam.
the class is super easy, but still i fell behind on some of the stuff and he totally let me catch up so i could get the A i needed. if your at NVC, take Aguirre!
I really liked his videos and the work was super easy to get through. No textbook! yeah.
I liked the class. The stuff was interesting. And aguirre was cool and flexible.
I really enjoyed this class! I took the course online and it was an easy A+. There's about 4-5 assignments due per week, no textbook required, numerous extra credit opportunities, and professor Aguirre always responded in a timely manner! He is kind of a tough grader but if you take advantage of the easy extra credit, it makes up for it!
Best professor i've had in my 4 semesters. He makes college life easy by not giving us too much work. He gives just enough to learn the subject but no more! I truly appreciated his teaching style and thank god for teachers like him. NO CAP!
He can be kind of strict with how he grades and while there isn't a lot of assignments, expect really picky grading on how you answer his questions. He's a stickler and his final exam reviewing is really ambiguous instead of having the questions reviewed for the final, he will go over 3 exams you've taken. I wouldn't recommend the class.
Greatest professor I've ever had. His class was so straightforward and the discussions were so great, they really change your perception on things. He shares his experiences and he's super down to earth, really cares. There's like maybe two 1 page papers but over what you learned, there is also like 5 journal entries, along with one major project.
Wasn't sure what to think about this class, or the professor cause of the low score here, but my friend took him and loved it. But that in person. I'm taking him online and it's pretty good. You definitely have to put in the work, but it's really not that hard. A little bit each week. Plus, he's really good at getting back to you quick.
Prof Aguirre opened my eyes about Anthropology. I took him online and it wasnt hard but you do have to put in work. PAY ATTENTION TO THE QUIZZES it will help you in the end. I would recommend
He is AMAZING! There is a lot of reading and work but everything is very clear and easy to understand. He is super cool, down to earth, really helps to make the class relatable to everyday life and is constantly communicating and making himself available for questions and clarification. Would definitely take another class with him!
Overall, good professor. Lots of extra credit opportunities. Those who have jobs may be intimidated by the workload (Flex course). Easy quizzes and final exam. Lots of class discussions. Since I was online, group project did not work out so well. He is willing to help you if you need it. Not a sciency class.
Professor Aguirre made this class so fun and interactive. He really cares about his students and is always willing to help whenever you need it. His class was really easy, it was a flex course so it was fast paced but the work wasn't overwhelming at all. Weekly quizzes, one mid term project and final project.
Professor Aguirre is amazing! I will say get ready to read, all the material he uses is extensive but very interesting. He was helpful and gives bonus discussions that are very easy (in case you'd like a higher grade) I would recommend him to anyone who is looking for a "GPA booster."
Amazing teacher! He makes the class engaging and fun to learn. Very funny as well! Lots of reading outside of class, would help with quizzes and understanding more of the course material, but still manageable without it. The class make the test! Make sure to double check that your classmates did not write answers incorrectly. Would take again!
I don't know how he is outside of a flex course, but he is annoying because he locks everything even though you can "get ahead." He assigns tedious homework and does not make the questions for the quizzes, everyone in the class does and same for the final. Did not give a study guide before final and left big group assignment two days b4 final.
Very interesting course. Professor Aguirre goes above and beyond in his teaching techniques. His course is well constructed and nicely organized, he is very passionate about this subject. There are lots of assignments, but I took this as a flex course. I would highly recommend his class for a science credit.
The material can get monotonous and repetitive. This professor was able to make digesting the information fun and interactive. If taking this course during the flex semester, be prepared to read.
I am going to be completely honest: he is a pain. He tried too hard to "be cool" in his lectures and constant stream of emails and it is incredibly frustrating. He does not make his own questions for quizzes, and his "cool" attitude disappears as soon as you do not answer a question 100% to his liking. He is incredibly frustrating. Don't recommend.
PROS: If you have questions, he answers them thoroughly. Easily explains complex topics. Humor in lectures. He's passionate about what he teaches. CONS: Homework every. single. day. (sometimes multiple). I do more for this class than any other (currently in 5). Assumes this is your only class. Specific grader. LOTS of reading.
Prof Aguirre was a decent flex class teacher. But get ready for lots of discussions and quizzes based on ted talks. He is a very particular grader meaning if its not exactly what he wants he wont give credit for the answer.
Odd professor. He can make learning fun at times but he can make it weird at times. Brings up sex A LOT during lecture and everyone sits there kinda feeling weird but he somehow relates it to class. He's the type of guy that's cool until he's not
Mr. Aguirre is hard but really cares about his students!
Professor Aguirre always packed his classes with a lot of information, which I appreciate. He always responds to emails with questions for me within 24 hours but there's a lot of work! Be prepared to read for this class.
Makes the material easy to understand and provides plenty of resources and articles, but is very bad with helping students. As I had technical problems for days that wouldn't let me access external readings, and he only extended the assignment for the next day at 10am. Grades very specifically to the point where you can lose credit for small things
