Adam genuinely cares for his students.
Honestly wish i had taken a different prof!Other than experience giving speeches, dont feel like I learned anything. Grades much harder than you would think for such a basic class! Says on the first day of class that the only way youll get an A is if you blow his mind with your speeches. Ive heard other profs are better and grade more fairly!
Adam grades tough because he expects more from his students, and likes to make sure his students actually gain something. He loves to have the class engage in debate, but I never once saw him discriminate against someone because of their beliefs. You will be a better speaker after taking his class, and will appreciate his sincerity. 10/10 prof.
Great professor that provides a good learning environment. Grade mostly consists of 4 speeches, 2 of them being group speeches. Grading criteria are rather broad and last two speeches are back to back, depending on what group you are and how he decides to order what group goes first, groups could have 1 week to make a speech and rehearse it.
I don't like his personality which translates into me not liking him as a professor. Its quite hard to take him seriously because he just seems to be lost in what kind of teacher to be. He tries to play up him being all exotic and interesting because he's Canadian. Vancouver is literally 45 mins from the boarder. Overall 10/10 would NOT recommend.
Did not care for the class at all. Adam was a decent professor, however for such an irrelevant class, he grades quite hard. It is nearly impossible to pull an A in the course. Course itself taught me that water is wet. Learned very very few things I didn't already know like Monroe's Motivated Sequence and how to cite in APA format.
I found Adam to be a good professor despite the obstacles he faced going in to the semester. This was his first time teaching the class and it was an accelerated summer course, so of course he was still test driving materials. His personality is a bit to get used to, but what professors isnt. I think he deserves more credit than he was given.
Adam obviously cares about his students and takes his teaching seriously. I feel his grading is not "too hard" as it upholds the prestige of our University. If you want an easy class I would advise going somewhere other than Mays Business. The negotiations were fun yet realistic and the tests weren't overly difficult if you read.
He's a good guy and this was his first time teaching this course so sure, there were some rough patches but he didn't know he was going to be teaching it over the summer until two weeks before class started and judging by that, I think he did a great job. Good teacher. Pretty fun lectures. Fun negotiations. Gotta go to class but that's a given.
Honestly, hes a fine teacher whatever, but his tests are literally the most ridiculous thing Ive ever experienced. They are an absolute joke and he is not receptive to student feedback whatsoever. Like to a point where he was completely unprofessional. The class is fine and somewhat interesting but given the choice def go with a different prof
Didn't learn much from the class. Multiple speeches and group speeches through year which are graded way too hard. Group speeches can be tough if you are matched up with bad group members. Very hard to get an A in the class, would recommend other professors.
If you practice your speeches enough to have them almost memorized, use good sources, and be confident, you'll do well. Lectures are fine but half the classes are listening to other people's speeches anyway.
This was my first B as an engineering major...I memorized and practiced each speech and would recieve horrible grades with no clear reason. He does not care about your grade or your efforts.
Very hard A, easy B. If you want an A in this class be prepared to work ridiculously for it.
Adam was my favorite professor this semester. He is funny, very knowledgeable, and cares for his students. He gives amazing feedback on what you could do to improve in class. I enjoyed his lectures and how friendly he is with the class.
Hes a great professor that is very knowledgeable about the material. He is a genuine person that cares about his students and makes class fun!
Professor Bajan was honestly my favorite prof and class to attend to. His lectures were engaging and enjoyable. Also for the speeches, he gave great feedback and I saw my skills grow tremendously by taking his class. There were 4 speeches and two papers, no final. Honestly if you put in work you'll do fine.
DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS COMM 205 was a terrible class and Adam made it even worse. He is a very tough grader and will NEVER give a 100. You have to memorize and present 4 speeches in front of the class every other week and write a few papers. Preparing for the speeches took hours and then Adam would give a 65 because the outline wasn't perfect.
Was a great professor, cared about the students, but dont expect its a blow off just because its communication class. Do the work for the speeches and youll be fine. Adam was super chill and understanding with the class. This proves my theory that all Canadians are cool. (Ask him about his PhD)
I was worried about taking Adam when I was first reading all of these reviews but I ended up really liking him! He's an engaging prof who cares about all of his students. Don't expect it to be an easy blow-off COMM class, but he gives clear grading criteria in the rubrics so you know what to expect when completing assignments.
He gatekeeps A's and the midterms and finals comprise of writing multiple handwritten essays. The lectures and projects were interesting, would say he is a decent professor but he is just so try hard when it comes to grading. Took this class for a culture credit and ended up spending more time on it than my major important classes.
Professor Bajan was super nice and super understanding. His 3 group projects counted for most of the grade and were simple. I went to class most of the time but was alright as long as I kept up with the reading. His lectures were an overview of the reading and super relaxed. I highly reccomend his class.
Dr. Bajan was great, his lectures are very interesting but expect to be trying to catch up with your notes because he speaks very fast. Assignments were very simple, its so easy to have a B, but it takes work to get an A. Not a blowoff class but also not alot of work, just reading. He is very helpful during office hours, I recommend going.
Honestly, the only thing i hated about this class was the group projects. Adam is not a difficult grader and he gives really good feedback so you and your group can improve. There is, however, lots of reading. But you can easily get an A or B without reading. I would recommend
He cares about the class; recognizes it's taken by mostly engineers and tries to make it an enjoyable experience by allowing the 4 speeches (total 60% of grade) to be technical and topics are up to you. If you're good (comfortable) public speaking, then you shouldn't have much trouble getting an A. Definitely some work, but not overwhelming.
This class is by far my favorite class out of all the classes I have taken in college thus far. The lecture content, and the way he teaches, makes the class interesting. Now, this class is pretty interactive, and yes, although he is a good professor, he does indeed gatekeep A's.
Make sure you attend lectures, while they are not mandatory, a lot of what is covered in lectures will be useful in exams and group projects. There is an essay for each group project, but it is rather simple if everyone works together. Readings are not necessary, but they definitely help your understanding of the course material.
Lectures move fast, so pay attention and don't skip class. There's 3 group projects, but they're manageable and enjoyable. He genuinely cares about his students and wants us to succeed and is incredibly helpful at office hours, so I highly recommend going. He is a tough grader - an A is attainable but this is not a blowoff class.
Super sweet and caring. Interesting lectures but always show up to them and pay attention. It's hard to achieve As but it's fun to work with others and review the material in projects. Recommend his office hours (he might make tea for you). Keep an open mind and you might have "an experience" and not an inchoate one (you'll understand soon).
He is funny and keeps lectures interesting, but he rarely puts words on the slides so you just have to copy down what he says and guess what is important. Projects and exams are very manageable. The only issue is that this man gate-keeps A's. All 8 pages of my essay only have checkmarks but I get an 85. If you can take a B, take him bc he is fun.
Even as an engineer, easily my favorite class. Adam did an AMAZING job with getting us comfortable talking about technical topics, & this was the one class I was never bored of. The in-class activities were honestly so much fun, & Adam helped me improve myself so much. Grade is heavily based on essays & speeches, but he's a fair grader.
This class, while interesting at times, is utterly useless for STEM majors. If you're about to go through ETAM as a freshman, don't take this you'll most likely get a B unless you try insanely hard.
Great professor. He grades somewhat hard, but fair overall. Listen to his feedback and your grade will improve. Make sure you know the days you are presenting, as it cost me an A in the class over a stupid mistake. Would 100% take the class again. He's a caring professor and significantly helped me in improving my public speaking abilities.
He's a good professor, lectures are boring. It's just him going over the readings, but it's good if you happen to skip a reading, there's one due every class. He has a pretty good split on his grades, about one third are the group projects, another third are the exams, and the other is the final paper. Start the final paper early, you'll be fine!
Professor Bajan is a great person and you can tell he truly cares about his students! He himself is awesome but the course itself just involves harder material. The exams in this course are hard but your grade can get balanced out with group projects. Not an easy A course but a B is definitely very doable.
Words cannot describe how much I adore Adam; he's genuinely the best professor I've ever had and every day with him was hilarious. Even if the material was hard or boring, he always made class so exciting and fun to be in. I'm a horrible public speaker but the feedback he gave always helped me improve. Cannot recommend him enough!!!
If you're trying to ETAM stay away, you will get a B. I liked to say he has a grudge against engineers or stem majors because communications is useless. If you're a comm major take this guy, he's passionate and is honestly a great prof just not for engineers
Adam is amazing! So funny. Tough grader on speeches but tries to make the class fun. Takes some time to get used to the atmosphere of the class but good prof
There r few assignments and most r writing based. Make sure to evenly distribute the work 4 group work. Tests r multiple choice but difficult: READ and ATTEND LECTURES: they help. Class and prof is fun and interesting, but concepts can be complex. U have to work for an A, so if ur a STEM major, reconsider this class. It wont be an easy A.
Bajan is caring and willing to help u understand course material. Come to as many lectures as u can as he'll simplify the complexity of what you're reading and you'll probably need it. 3 group projects, doesn't post lecture slides, if says something multiple times, it's probably important, slides are mainly images so pay attention to what he says
I loved this class. Go to every lecture and take diligent notes on EVERYTHING he says. On tests, he is a big fan of asking about the meaning behind a certain aspect of a painting. Be sure to build a well-structured academic argument on papers with little personal opinion, or he will poke holes in it.
If you are not an auditory learner DO NOT take this class. He covers information swiftly and barely repeats, it can become overwhelming and hard to keep up. He started using slides after midterm which helped greatly but the first half was a struggle. Lots of reading and some of it is hard to retain or understand. He was super nice as was his TA.
The first thing to know is that he will seldom give out an A, and in order to get one you have to know what your doing. The content covered in class and in the readings is sometimes on the more abstract side, but he does a good job of breaking it down in class to an understandable level as long as you've done the easier readings.
He speeds through his lectures super quick and doesn't even have words on the slides for you to take notes on. You have to strictly take notes on what he says and he will not repeat himself if you ask. There are 3 group projects and 2 essays, which he grades super hard on. He doesn't tell you what to study so the exams are hard.
Not a fan of COMM 257 with Professor Bajan. Lecture heavy with no visuals, tough tests with very specific questions, and tedious group projects requiring artistic talent (groups are randomly assigned and you have them all semester). Professor doesn't take feedback well. I would not recommend.
Bajan is a great professor. The group projects are not tough at all, especially if you split it up and all work together equally on it. He tells you in the beginning that there are lots of reading, and it's there on Canvas from the beginning of the semester. Attendance is not mandatory but it helps you with the two exams.
I had Bajan for comm 330 which was supposed to be just an elective course but he made the class pretty difficult. He's not a bad professor but he doesn't post any of the lecture material so you have to go to class to get it or you won't pass. His lectures can be kinda boring but def participate during lectures it will help you out in the long run.
Bajan was always very intentional and understanding during the course. Communication with him would most likely solve any concerns I had. He will expect you to do the work, but overall he is an amazing professor.
The professor is fantastic. The class has two exams and three group projects. The class's difficulty depends a ton on your actual group. I was personally stuck with a bunch of people who didn't really care about the class, so being there was literal torture, but he had some leniency with me, which was appreciated. If you have a bad group, tell him.
Adam is my favorite prof I've ever had. 257 is a difficult course and you MUST take diligent notes in class to do well. There is a lot of difficult reading, but he breaks it down in class and is always willing to answer any questions. The group projects do depend on your random group, but as long as you split up the work it's not that bad at all.
If you read and pay attention during lecture you'll be fine. Solid and entertaining lecturer and provides good feedback. I didn't score too well on the tests but still loved the class. Totally recommend the class even if you're a stem major, just as long as you have the discipline to read the homework.
Great prof! You can tell he is very passionate about what he is teaching, and if you put in the effort to come to class you will get a good grade. He does not post lecture slides/recordings and the textbook is not very helpful, so you must come to class. He's also very funny and really cares about his students!
Bajan was by far one of my favorite professors. He was an excellent speaker and taught everyone the entire process on how to speak well. He was great about telling you of approaching deadlines, too. Do NOT be late on speech day, you will be shamed eternally
Dr. Bajan was awesome!! Best professor I've ever had a Texas A&M. I genuinely learned so much from his class. Not only has my speaking improved, but so had my listening and writing. He also makes himself extremely available outside of class. I met with him at office hours almost every single day and he was so helpful and nice to me!
Professor Bajan was a tough grader, however you'll love him for sure. Exams were super detailed so you'd better go to class as frequent as possible. He was sarcastic in a funny way. This class adds more challenge to Comm major and that's not a bad thing. I'd take him again.
Prof Bajan is deeply committed to seeing students learn and succeed. While the lectures cover topics lighting fast, he is certain to never leave you in the dust. If you care about making your time in the TAMU comms major worth while, I would highly recommend taking him for any class.
Funny guy. Good lectures. The material is the most boring thing you'll ever do in your life. Don't take it unless you like reading things you don't understand
He's funny and makes class enjoyable but he is a hard grader. Takes off a lot of points for sounding nervous or verbal stumbles. By then end though you are a much better public speaker.
concepts in the readings are VERY difficult to understand, but adam makes it very clear to you when you go to his lectures. he has slideshows with images ONLY, take notes on everything he says, he won't repeat himself unless it's very important.
He said explicitly he does not give 100s. Otherwise, good professor. Lectures are interesting, but be ready to read a lot if you don't understand in lecture. Kinda hip and funny. Hard grader, but he doesn't give out *low* grades often. Just try hard and you'll get a B or low A almost guaranteed. Midterms and final are in-person but on Canvas.
I took Bajan for COMMS/RELS 257, the class was very very interesting and the readings (while tough) are really interesting too. This is NOT an easy A though, you will have to read a lot and study if you want a decent grade. You have 3 group assignments so if you get stuck with bad group members your grade is doomed.
Great professor that has given great feedback on projects and is very accessible! However, expect to put in work. You get weekly assignments and around 4 Speeches, which has a lot of more work in it. In addition, he takes off points for the little lest of things. Attendance is mandatory and will count against your grade! Not an easy A!
Dr Bajan is one of the best professors I had at A&M. He is very understanding with circumstances that students are going through and he keeps the class engaging. Also this class was the most fun I've had in a college level class. However, this class is not an easy A because he is a tough grader, but if you listen to his feedback you will get an A.
Bajan was literally the best, I had an accident with my dominant hand and ended up getting 9 stitches, Bajan gave me the additional time I needed to write my proposal accordingly. Bajan's lectures are generally on interesting concepts. If you're into art or religion Bajan is definitely the way to go.
Great class! I would recommend this to anyone, it changed the way I think about the world! There are few grades, just a midterm/final, group project/papers, and a final paper, so work hard. Adam is fantastic at lecturing and every class left me thinking. Attendance isn't mandatory, but the class will be hard if you don't go. Do the readings!
Adam truly cares about the material and that he can teach students something of value. There are daily readings that can be dense and hard to understand, but Adam always delivers on the lectures. Group projects can be stressful, but Adam truly grades individually and will help with any issues with group members.
This class was very enlightening! The other reviews sum it up so my advice is record the lectures and re-listen to ALL of them if you can before an exam. He expects you to have read the material before his lectures(as he should) so he's fast. And if you're like me and procrastinate so much you don't read the readings recording is a life saver.
Bajan was one of my favorite professors my first semester. Took the class for core curriculum credits and, while it was difficult, it was made enjoyable with his kind attitude and desire to help his students. However, group projects will cause a major part of grade to be determined by whether or not your partners are lazy.
Adam was quite possible the best prof I've ever had at TAMU. His lectures were informative and he wanted to ensure you were actually learning. I took this class with a different prof last semester and had to drop because I was doing so bad, now I have an A with Adam. His grading is intentional and he wants you to learn from your mistakes.
Adam is a great professor who is clearly passionate about the topic. There are readings each night, but his lectures are very easy to follow along and he does a good job explaining. Lectures are very important for tests. Assignments are unconventional, but fun. If you care about art/religion and aren't afraid to do a little work, I highly suggest!
He is very inspirational and caring when it comes to his work. Most of his lectures are helpful, so I highly recommend attending. He values your opinion and encourages you to discover new meanings within the world of culture. Definitely one of the best professors I've ever had.
Professor Bajan was great for the most part. He does require you to read a lot each week and they tend to be very tedious, but he does go over the material in class. You can skip some of the readings and still get at least a B but for an A do all you can! I really enjoyed all of his lectures! He can be a tough grader on the group projects though.
I thought the professor was good at teaching, just very much millennial-coded. He really wants people to think of him as the ~cool professor.~ Overall though there was abt an average amount of work for the class. He really pushes for you to read the textbook but it's kind of redundant as the lecture will cover everything.
Really passionate about his work, class is hard though. Have to study a bunch, there are definitely easier comm classes to take if you're just taking it for credit. Interesting material if you like art, definitely more art-based than religion, go to class/be a fast typer, asks vocab used like once on exams
I struggled to pay attention as lectures went super quick and no words on slides so type as quick as you can. Exams were pretty tough and only midterm and final. Hard to study for with so much information. Lots of papers for group projects and finals. Lots of readings. If you have a busy semester I would take a different class.
He's nice as a person, but he lacks as a teacher. His words are not straightforward, and his material on Canvas is minimal. He does post material: primary sources, which are very hard to read. I don't recommend this class. He decides your group for group projects, and the group is permanent for every future project. His study guides don't help.
Assigns a major term paper, and says you can disagree with what he taught in the paper. If you dare to disagree with him, he deducts a lot of points.
many of the readings took some time, and were especially difficult to understand, but his lectures helped summarize and explain what was said in the book very well. he made lectures very entertaining so it wasnt just rambling off slides. make sure you record the lectures or take thorough notes though, because there are no words on the slides.
Loved him, it was genuinely a really interesting class. You can tell how knowledgeable he is and how much he loves his job. The group projects were easy and fun, and the midterm and final were both open-note. Although it's not the easiest A, if you put a little effort in you'll come to enjoy his class.
Professor Bajan definitely cares about his students. He remembers details about his students. 3 group projects; if one person does nothing there's an "insurance policy" to make sure everyone gets the grade they deserve. Lots of readings. Open-note exams. DO NOT procrastinate final paper. I got by with mainly lecture notes but readings are important
Out of all of my professors freshman year, I think Bajan takes the cake. The class itself can get a little difficult if you decide to not show up for class/not read, but it is super doable. The material is very interesting and you can tell he loves to do his job. Take this class if you want to learn more about important things in people's lives.
Professor Bajan was a decent professor; he just made his tests difficult. I struggled with the fact that the class was a lot of work for a creative arts credit. This class requires a lot of effort, and the majority of the class grades are based on group essays. Make sure you take detailed notes and pay attention to his lectures.
prof Bajan is a great professor BUT and I cannot stress this enough, during his lectures he dosent have any slides he just talks. TYPE DOWN EVERY WORD HE SAYS THE EXAMS ARE BASED ON WHAT HE SAYS AND READ. Do not only rely on your reading notes for the final exam. I began the course with a D then got to a B by doing what I said.
Get prepared to read A LOT if you want an A; attending all the lectures is also helpful. This class is composed of 3 group projects and 2 open-note exams. His lectures I found very interesting but get ready to type down everything he says as the whole lecture is just him talking.
This class is heavy on group projects, so make sure to have a group of people willing to help out. I had partners who didn't really care for the class, so they did very little or no work at all, leaving me and one other person to do a five-man group project. Dr. Bajan did not take much action when informed of this, but otherwise was a fine teacher.
The class consists of very fast-paced lectures that are not recorded and the slides are not posted. It is very important to take notes for the tests but it's hard to keep up with everything while taking notes so get to know the people around you to share notes. Groupmates on projects are assigned and the essay projects are graded a little strictly.
Lectures slides cover chapter for the week & other outside examples, go to class! Complains abt us taking notes in class bc "we should have read the ch before class." Prohibiting computers to take notes in following semesters (only handwritten allowed). 3 Exams, open book/notes. Major research paper, vid over paper, & group research presentation.
Very funny in lectures. Group projects ruined the class. I got stuck with a bad group who didn't do anything or used chatgpt to write our papers which left me rewriting everything and working very hard only for a B. Prof basically told me there was nothing he could do about AI usage. Very annoyed i was stuck doing everything with no help from prof.
Very caring & lovely professor! His class is structured very straight-forward and to the point using material from the textbook, which is easy to read and understand. His class is great because his expectations are very clear: read the book and participate. His feedback is honest and supportive. I am happy to have his instruction and lecture.
Adam grades VERY tough and subjectively. He explicitly states "no one gets a 100." He does not round up final grades, gives inconsistent feedback on speeches, does not follow his rubrics, and throws a lot of indirect shade mid-lecture. There are no exams but be prepared for your speeches. Only thing I learned was how to cater to him by mind-reading
He grades very harshly, sometimes even outside the rubric provided. He also assigns group projects but often waits until a week before the presentation to announce the groups, making it difficult to coordinate and prepare.
The content of his class isn't bad and he seems like a nice person but the way he structured his class made it hard to get an A. He relies a lot on group projects and his lectures, while good, are very fast paced.
Adam was fun! This class is difficult but not impossible. if you prepare well enough for the presentations you will be fine. the turn around time between presentations was really quick but not unexpected. he just wants to see that you're actively improving based on his corrections and you'll start to score higher on the presentations.
He decided to experiment and do a closed notes and open book exam which tanked my grade since his exams were based off his lectures. My group was pretty mid and it sucked having to overcompensate for lazy people. There is an insurance policy but they as long as someone has something down they get the same grade you do, so it is not the best.
Show up to class and pay attention to his lectures. (He doesn't post the slides on canvas for some reason). But honestly if you just listen to the guy and make sure your speeches follow all rubric items you can get a good grade. Put in the work, don't do it last minute, and you'll be fine. I don't know anybody who took 203, but 203s probably easier
The best professor! I had to take this 400 level class senior year and I personally enjoyed it. Makes class fun, he is not boring, cares about his students.
I wouldn't recommend purely because of grading. Everyone in my group project finished with a B in this class, that is not representative of the effort we put in. This class was my lowest grade and I am a senior in chemical engineering. Adam Bajan does have interesting lectures, and I do feel like I gained interesting knowledge from them.
Adam is an amazing professor, and you can tell that he cares about all of his students. He is very thorough with discussing how speeches are graded, and he recognizes that everyone starts at a different level. The speeches are based on what you want to do, so they are actual fun to do and listen to.
If you're looking for an easy A its probably not this class. The class is just projects and tests. It is very unclear what he expects from the projects and the tests are open note and open book but they have questions about things that are in neither.
Grade is mainly based off of 3 group projects, a midterm and a final exam, and a final paper. Groups for group projects are assigned at the beginning of semester and never change, so if your group is bad I can definitely see that making them difficult. Exams are heavily based off lecture material, so take good notes. Very interesting class!
His lectures are interesting, and he seems really passionate about what he teaches, but if you're doing something like premed, I would not risk your grade by taking this class. Doesn't matter if you get a high A on your solo writing and exams if you get unlucky with your group.
