Great teacher, and very helpful. Makes every effort to help where it is needed. Does not require you to have the book in class, and describes the powerpoints in a way that is easier to understand. Highly recommend.

Great professor. He's great at breaking down material so that it makes sense. I also loved that he teaches stats funtions in Excel which is more relevant to the real-world (no tables). He is always willing to answer questions and due dates are always clear in mymathlab. I definitely recommend him for stats- the best professor for an 8 AM class.

I had been dreading the thought of taking this class based off of what everyone says but Prof Becker made it fairly painless, although thats not what he claims :). He breaks things down to make it easy to understand. He does expect you to truly understand the material and not rely solely on technology for the answers. Great Professor!!

Prof. Becker is an easy guy to get used to. Class was kept fun and even in the midst of monotonous statistics formulas we found ourselves laughing. Adam is seriously one of the coolest professors I have ever had. Not only is he super helpful when you have questions but he's also very clear when teaching and has lots of energy. Definitely keep trying of doing the homework and quizzes on my math lab. I definitely recommend him for stat!

I'm horrible with numbers and due to a slight case of ADD anything math related is a struggle. Mr. Becker had no problem staying after for class for myself or anyone else with questions, reviewed previous concepts before each class to refresh, and treated us like adults, with mutual respect. This is the first math class I've passed without a tutor.

Professor Becker was amazing No one knew who the teacher was going to be, until this really hot guy walked by with tattoos and gauges in his ears. He introduced himself at Professor Becker. All of our jaws, even the guys, were on the floor. He will help you in any way he can. I recommend him for any of your MTE classes.

I think more in class practice assignments using stat crunch or Texas t183 would be helpful. I think he has great interpersonal communication skills and has an open door policy which i think is crucial for students like myself who need positive feedback and extra help.

This was my third time taking Statistics and Mr. Becker made it easy to understand! He's pretty funny & can keep your attention the entire class! He's also extremely extremely attractive, which is always an added bonus!

I have always enjoyed math and this is the first class that i took as an on campus class in a couple of years and I really enjoyed it. It is an easy, straight forward class. Becker brought humor and life to what could have been a boring class. If he taught any of the other math classes that I need, I would probably sign up for his class.

Mr. Becker was great! He's a cool guy, a great teacher, and he made class fun. He made math make sense. If you missed a class you were fine because he went back over the basics the next class. He gave us countless opportunities to better our grades. He was helpful, clear, and worked with us. He really, really knew how to work with college kids.

The book itself for this class was not at all helpful, the website was. My stat lab helped break down the rest. The teacher keeps you engaged, if you miss a day you might be lost.

Course get's tougher as it carries on, the text book sucks! MyMathLab helped with problems that I was unsure of. Mr. Becker will help solve the problems in home work, the key is do the homework and not save it for last minute.

Professor Becker is straight-forward when teaching and I like that a lot. He goes through everything thoroughly, but does not drag things out or go too fast. He always asks if we have any questions and he keeps things fun and interesting, and that is saying a lot coming from a student who has never liked or been good at math. I feel more confident.

Adam Becker is by far one of the most awesome professors at TCC Portsmouth. He knows what he is talking about and is very friendly. I know that I've had some family problems over the course of this semester Spring '15 and Adam has helped me in every way he could. Mr. Adam is a great teacher and person overall. He really loves his job and teaching. He made lecture fun and interesting and if you ever had a question, he would answer it and made sure that you understood the material. He responded to my emails very quickly and was always on time for class. One critique is to perform more examples on materials.

NOT A BORING MATH TEACHER I would take him again, I even recommended him to a ODU friend. His test can be a little tricky, the hmwk and the quiz's are on mymathlab I understood things there but the test he gave just seemed different to me, it was something about the wording. If you do the hmwk and quiz's well though you will pass. He's very helpful

Prof is very approachable, easy to talk to , encourages class participation thought you would not feel bad if your head is completely empty. Great teacher knows what he is talking about, to pass you have to do the quizzes and homework which is all online but as long as you do them the tests aren't too bad. Make sure you go to class he explains a lot especially with stat crunch which can be hard to use.

Mr. Becker's class is much easier compared to my other MTH professor. Mr. Becker is a pretty cool guy and he does not put too much pressure on you to remember how to do equations. His test are multiple choice, which were easier for me. If you want an good grade in MTH, take Mr. Becker's class

He teaches quickly, so if your in his summer class, be prepared to be there every class and do a lot of math in your head, but he will repeat if you have ?'s. Took a 10 week summer course so the lessons went fast. I believe it would have been a little easier if it was a 16 week course but that is not Adams fault. He isn't the kind of teacher that uses the power point. He writes on the board so its easy to ask questions if you don't understand a step. Like his style of teaching and humor.

I liked his teaching style. In class, I seemed to understand for the most part. Plus, he's funny and not boring at all! However, when tests came along, it was downhill from there. His test's are much harder than he prepares us for. He needs to give more practice problems like those that are on the test.

Take notes in class. Even if you think you won't need them. Do your homework and quizzes when you are on that chapter. It will help you. There aren't that many questions for each. Overall, the class was fun. The teacher knows how to make the material more understandable to students rather than reading in the textbook. In my opinion, I believe that the tests, especially the final, could be improved if it was exactly like the homework questions without any confusion questions.

Definitely there to help when you need it. Ask questions and he is very thorough in answering them. Will work with students and will sympathize if he assigns something too difficult. The occasional joke/silliness helps too as long as students are actively joking along as well. This is one of the best math teachers you can ask for.

What sets him apart from others is that he teaches the intuition behind the concepts and not just how to do the problem. his class is actually a lot of fun to be in too.

One of the best professors at TCC. He's always trying to make sure that everyone is understanding the lecture. There's 4 tests and homework is optional (although if you do the homework, he adds 5 points to your test). Just show that you care and you'll walk out with nothing less than a C.

Professor Becker is a great professor. He gives you 40% credit to pull up your grade for online quizzes and homework, which can be retaken, as well as dropping the lowest from each AND test. He emails back, and is available office hours before classes for questions.

He doesn't actually give extra credit but his DB's are pretty much extra credit, they're mandatory but they are a little grade booster. Attendance is mandatory or you'll get dropped from the class, but the class if pretty much at your own pace and really easy even if you struggle with math. He wants all his students to pass.

(ONLINE) Do the work and you'll do well: homework, quizzes, tests, and discussions. Adam is accessible and funny. Everything is clearly articulated from the beginning. You don't need to do almost anything by hand, so focus on understanding StatCrunch.

Class is fairly easy as long as you skim through the textbook before each chapter's assignments. Easy to procrastinate because all assignments are due at the end of the semester, but don't fall too behind or you'll fail. Easy, helpful instructor, will do everything he can to help you pass.

Professor Becked is very nice and easy on the eyes. He teaches in a very understandable way this, making the subject easy. When he feels as if students are lacking motivation he gives really good motivational speeches. He definitely cares about his students.

I took Professor Adam's calculus class a year ago and now I am retaking calculus at my current school. I MISS PROF ADAM SO MUCH. He is by far the best teacher I have ever had. Adam Becker is a great professor, very knowledgeable on the subject, very nice, funny, and sociable. There is a fairly large amount of homework, and its all due at the end of the semester, however DO NOT put it off and let it stack up, I made that mistake. Calc 2 in general is difficult, the exams are graded with as much partial credit as possible.

I took this class scared to death that I was going to fail. Professor Becker was a very great teacher and really got into detail in how to explain the math problems. This was a perfect example of an online course. Posted everything (except tests) right away to complete at a guided pace. Professor Becker is easy to reach and responsive. He even provided his recorded lectures for further assistance to those classes that had no actual meeting times. 10/10, I actually feel like learned from him!

this was a very difficult class, I rarely checked back on my notes and it felt like I was teaching myself a lot of the time. We had zoom meets but they were just playing recordings. Homework was frustrating and could take hours, but if you do all of it you will pass the tests. I'd take his class again but if it were in person.
