Adam was a very good professor for this course! The course if difficult but he does a good job explaining the concepts and objectives for the course. Very helpful in office hours! If you need to take this class, I would recommend taking it with Adam.

His tests were fairly straightforward until the final. The final(cumulative) was really tough and focused on small details of each chapter.

Adam is super nice, always there to help students. He is even available on weekends if you can't find time to meet him during his office hours. His exams are easy and pretty straightforward. He makes his lectures easy to understand, super friendly, an d willing answer all students' questions! Probably one of the best professors I have had so far!

Obviously this is a chem course so its going to try to weed people out. If you study really hard you will do fine. If you don't study don't expect to get a good grade. Adam has by far been my favorite chem professor I've had, he explains things well and his tests are reasonable for chem.

Adam is always in high spirits and you can tell he loves teaching! The course is hard, but you can definitely get out of there with a good grade if you work hard. Adam is also willing to help in any way that he can.

Professor Brummett always seemed to be in a good mood and made sure to ask for questions during class. He's teaching a difficult subject, but makes it easier to understand. Overall a good professor.

Overall good professor, sometimes stuttered or couldn't make sense of how to word something. I felt like he was the most unorganized/inexperienced of the chem lecturers but still not bad, and would clarify if there were questions.

Dr. Brummett is adorable and is wonderful to talk to one-on-one. The only reason I gave him a 4 was because he got a little behind with his lectures and was not quite as organized as the other two prof. teaching the course. Key to course- study hard, use practice exams to study, and take the homework seriously. Look forward to Dr. Brummett!

He's similar to Strathman, talks at a steady pace. I also had him for Case Study, and he was good with making sure not to give out the answers but explaining it well. Doesn't ask if we have any questions which is why I gave him a 4/5.

His lectures are never dull, and he does a good job of explaining everything in the slides. I also had him for case study, and he was always to the point and was good about keeping it interesting and interactive.

Brummett is a very approachable professor. His lecture portion was well taught and he was very good at taking questions and explaining examples/ material. I also had him for case study where I found him to be even more helpful as it was interactive and he was very good at explaining all labs. Overall, very entertaining lectures.

By Far the best Teacher I have had here at Iowa, really cares about the material and is not trying to move cattle in a sense he cares about all of his students. As well if you will not get through a unit, it will not be on the exam. BEST EVER!

Brummett is a great professor! I was nervous to go into a college level class but he is very kind, well spoken, and knows what he's talking about. With that being said, he tends to lecture very fast, but is flexible outside of class, posts his notes, and a recording of class. Only bad thing is his handwriting.

Adam was an amazing professor. He was very helpful outside of class and genuinely wants you to succeed. His lectures are a little fast pace but he does a good job explaining. His concepts for the class are clear and his study guides for the exams are clear on the concepts you should focus on for the exam and are relevant to the exam. Amazing prof.

Attending lecture was enough to understand the material. Reviews for exams made the actual tests easy. I never studied outside of class and didn't have a problem. Going to lecture isn't required, but you earn extra credit for attendance. He does go through material pretty fast during lecture, but does a good job explaining.

The expectations he has are laid out clearly. Some people don't like him, most do. The courses aren't given to you however working on them isn't hard.

Brummett is a good professor and he genuinely wants you to succeed, but that doesn't mean he will make it easy to achieve. Do the work on time, and utilize office hours and you should be fine.

Had him for Case Study and Lab. He genuinely seems to care about everyone taking the class and takes time out of his day to respond to questions. My complaint is that his voice is enough to put a person to sleep.

Had Brummett for case study and lab, he talks super slow and repeats 80% of the background in the CS lecture. He takes time to answer questions and wants you to succeed, he basically spoon feeds you for pre-labs. He might be a little boring but overall a good professor.

I had Dr. Brummett for Fall '20 Principles of Chemistry 1, and man did he make class easy. He practically spoon feeds you the material you need to know, and makes case study and lab enjoyable, even over zoom. He is always eager to answer any questions and made this class very enjoyable for me. Highly recommend.

He's a really good lab professor, is there for giving support, and really fair/reasonable if you forget to submit things. I am now a lecture assistant for this course and go to meetings with him, and he really cares about how people do. His labs were a bit long but he explains things well.

Adam was a great lab prof, and he was always around for lecture/grades help as well. A very fair grader with Simulation Labs and Lab work, had a ton of office hours and was willing to talk to anyone about grades/study habits/etc.

He is a great professor who really cares about his students. His office hours are super helpful. Reading the textbook is really useful in this class. If you are struggling, set up a meeting with him and he'll help you figure out what you can do to improve.

He is a genuinely good instructor and is willing to answer any and all questions. Hes genuinely engaging in lecture which makes the content seem more interesting as well. He does a lot for the course and handles all of the responsibilities flawlessly.

I had Adam for Case study in principles 1. He is an extremely caring and respected professor. He clearly lays out how to be successful in his classes. He even sends personalized emails before exams. If you do your part, you will succeed. This class is infamous for weeding out students but I truly think Adam helped me be successful.

Amazing professor, always responds to emails quickly, does not read directly off the slides, and always allows ample time to complete problems in lectures. Walks around to help students at the top of the auditorium. Visits students during labs. Exam feedback the next day, and final results within a week. Very organized class overall.

Dr. Brummet is very nice and great to talk to! He's one of the few professors who's remembered me outside of class. He explains things pretty well, sometimes I do wish I could put him on 2x speed but that might just be me.

The class is hard there is no sugar coating that but he does a great job at giving examples you would understand and does a great job at explaing in multiple ways. you can tell he truly does care

Dr. Brummet is a fantastic professor and an even better person. He is someone who I genuinely enjoy and hope to see again in my academic career. One thing to know about Dr. Brummet is that if you work hard, you'll get a good grade. That simple. The ones who don't do good in this class are the ones who don't work hard. Work hard, play hard.

Brummett was a solid professor. He clearly has great understanding of chemistry, and is passionate for chemistry. He was a great lecturer, and informed us well. The only problems are he is hard to reach out to.

He is the main person I get ahold of whenever I have any questions or problems with something in the course. He is pretty understandable in terms of teaching, and helps you learn what options are needed/recommended for this course.

Overall, my only complaint is that his office hours aren't great. You'll ask him a question and he will talk about something completely different. It just isn't productive use of time. He is a nice guy though and down to earth. Tests are hard but you could do bad and still be fine.

Amazing and very understanding and willing to work with you but he is a busy guy so be patient and understanding and he will be in return. Go to office hours even if you don't have questions to help you understand the info, and read the material/take notes before lecture. Expectations are clear and if you use resources, class is manageable.

One of my favorite professors; makes sure you understand the material. He is easily available outside of class. The class is a little challenging but attending lectures and participating helps a lot.

Nice guy in lecture, but struggles when you talk to him in person. The tests have lots of trick questions and I can honestly say TAs make a huge difference in this course--make friends with them and go to SI around test times.

Brummett is very knowledgable, but he can get sassy with students when they get confused. He is a good instructor for this course.

Dr. Brummett gives good examples of the more difficult concepts and explains the material thoroughly. He is open to answering questions even in a big lecture. Going to lecture definitely is very important because the textbook doesn't cover all of the concepts/problems you need to know for exams.

Really good professor, and definitely one of the better chemistry professors I've had. His lectures are clear and organized and he explains things really clear and well. He also really cares about his students and makes efforts to check in and update through email throughout the semester.

I had the opportunity of having Dr. Brummett twice, my first and last years of college. I took one of the introductory chemistry courses with him and then at the end of my chemistry studies, got to go on a study abroad course led by him. He was amazing and loves what he teaches. Got a great letter of rec and can tell he cares about his students.

This course is pretty simple, and Dr. Brummet is a great lecturer. All other parts of the class (lab, cs, and disc.) are pretty boring but doable. The homework system is a little weird, but you only need to get 150 points for 100% (for hw) out of the 168 possible points. Also iClicker is used during lecture for extra credit.

He's a great teacher but the lectures can drag on. It can be easy to get lost because he adds honestly too many words to his lectures but he's being thorough so it sorta evens out.

Brummet is about as good as you're going to get for a Chemistry Professor, just pay attention in lectures and put the work in outside, the subject is not going to come naturally to everyone, which is what I found out.

Honestly one of my best professors I've had so far. It is obvious he really cares about his students and what he is teaching, and I found him incredibly easy to understand. The course is structured well, so that a bad grade on a test won't ruin your grade. Amazing professor and made understanding chem not too difficult!!!

Really enjoyed having Professor Brummett for the Principles of Chem lecture and case study. He did ramble a bit, but overall gave really good explanations and was super helpful. Office hours are always super beneficial with him and would significantly help you in this course. Highly recommend!

I really enjoyed Dr Brummet's lectures because he was really good at making real-world analogies for complicated chemistry topics. I took principles of chem 1 and got an A, going to drop in hours is very helpful.

His lectures tend to go fast but if you utilize office hours he can explain the concepts better to you. I also found SI to be helpful as well.

Adam Brummett is one of the best chemistry teachers I've ever had. I learned a lot in this class and got a great letter of recommendation from him. Overall great teacher and helped me get into med school.

Good Professor but you have to make sure that you remember the calculations from Chem 1 in order to succeed in the class but the structure of the class is pretty good. Makes it hard to fail.

Tough class but he doesn't rush through the slides which is good. Makes sure that we understand the content before he moves on.

Principles 2 is pretty difficult but watching the lectures and going over topics with Organic Chemistry Tutor is a life saver for preparing for exams. Labs aren't too bad either.
