if you read the notes you easily can pass it. makes it's easy to understand.

I have to defend Dr. Butler. He has a personality that you only really get if you know him. He is an excellent teacher, and will always tell you exactly what he thinks. We need more straightforward professors. He's a great guy.
He's very nice, and class is easy, but you have to study A LOT to get a good grade on the tests.
I think he is incredibly unhelpful, definitely start studying at least a week before the test and make sure you look at his review sheet, that is actually really helpful
the class is three hours long...you can tell he gets as bored as we do...but he just won't let us out early
Class is long, and boring. There are a lot of notes, but they are very helpful. And you can actually learn interesting things that you never thought of before.
The class is easy, notes are online, so he just lectures. you have to study to get a good grade, but it is very interesting and fun! i recommend him since it's only once a week!
All I can say about A-buts is Hot Hot Hot!!!!!
I studied for 5 hours before the final and got an A. Not hard at all. Read the book closely. Oh, and I once thought he was hot, but got up close after class and mmmm, not so much.
Great professor. Good sense of humor, and presents material very well. If you study like he says, you will get at least a B in the class.
I never got an A on any of the tests, but he does these cards during class (about one a class). I went to all the classes and the cards helped me get an A. He is kind of a jerk and its really boring but not very hard.
I took his night class, and it was great. He rarely kept us for the full 3 hours and when we were there, he never wasted our time. He's very clear and makes sure people understand a concept before moving on (via the index cards). definitely read the book!
Very hard. I got a D but also never studied. Always thought he was hot though!
I took his night class-I really liked him, the class wasn't that hard. All his lecture notes are typed, so if you need to miss class, you at least have the notes. Also, I thought he was pretty funny. Only 3 tests, final not comprehensive.
I don't know what the people who rated him badly are talking about. i took him for the summer class and he was very easy to understand, usually let us out early, and offered a lot of optional work to boost our grades. no tests! Read the book carefully!
night classes are long, i wish that i would not have taken the night class.
The night class is VERY boring..I would recommend not taking it at night..The tests are pretty hard so you have to study alot..he's a pretty nice guy but just so boring!
Hard tests. Can buy his lecture notes. Funny guy. Option for more points in class.
He's very smart. Gives a lot of examples. He's a nerd like me, so I had a crush on him.
I took his night class, and it wasn't too bad. He rarely kept us the whole time, and had the slides available @ Copyworks. He puts a studyguide online before each of the four tests, which are all multiple choice and work 50 pts, even the final. He's cute in a nerdy sort of way.
Night class seems long, but he keeps it interesting and lets you out early. Test can be worded difficultly, so read closely.
Dont take the night class. The class seems very long at night. It is easy to get your grade up though, just do over the amount of the research participations. Without these I would be failing the class. Dont bother paying attention during class, but still go because you hand in a card.
I took this class at night, at first it was tough paying attention, but you get used to it and the material becomes more interesting. I would take Prof. Butler again, he was straightforward about the tests, only 4 including the final and all 50 pts. He is also really nice about extra credit.
Caught up on my sleep... really he is on the boring side to say the least, but one good thing is it is possible to get an A and still sleep... he tries to be nice, but I would not recommend-- it is painful.
fun guy
This class is really interesting and seems like it will be worthwhile once I graduate. Dr. Butler is funny and gives a lot of good examples. I would recommend it. Plus you can get a certificate if you take it and some other classes.
This class was so easy. I thought they were kidding when somebody said you could sleep and still get an A. If you want to pad your GPA this is another good class to add to the list. Hot, but not 2 hot.
He is very unapprochable and just simply unpleasant
Horrible class! His teaching is boring and totally bland. Lots of participation points which were basically for attendance only. His knowledge of the subject seems more limited than you'd expect and he has difficulty dealing with anyone who disagrees with him. I challenged his knowledge of a subject and he started stammering and stuttering and arguing in a circle. DO NOT TAKE HIM!
I bet I know who made the last comment (Oct 23), and he is a religious zealot who wouldn't know a sound argument if it bit him in the @ss.
Doesn't require a textbook. you choose two papers out of four to write, less than three pages, tests easy. For Grad students the class is more difficult. Grad students don't do papers but do do a project with experiment and research and the whole shabang.
The greatest course ever! The professor is clear, funny, and educated, we laugh at every class! Pay attention to details while taking notes cuz they pump up at the multiple choice tests when u don't expect them. Very helpful, explains everything that is not clear. Pretty easy class even for grads and the material is so much useful for HR &in life!
Butler is kick ass. If you pay attention, there's actually a lot of humor in his lectures. He's flexible about making up tests and wants everyone to succeed.
He's very clear in what is going to be on the tests. He gives you every subject that will appear on the tests and tells you to know everything about it. It's very helpful if you make flashcards for this class; if you do you'll be fine.
It gets a little boring sometimes, but overall it is pretty easy. He gives good examples that will help you understand if you don't get something and he is willing to answer questions if you have them.
Professor Butler keeps class interesting. If you listen, he's pretty funny, too. And he replys emails really fast. I have a really bad attention span, but it's very easy for me to pay attention to what he's saying. Of course, it helps if you're interested in psychology, too. I definitely recommend taking his class.
The class is fun and interesting, but make sure you STUDY for tests!!! And he can screw you grade too when you least expect it!!! I expected A-, but suddenly got B!!!!! good thing the class is over
Class tends to be alittle boering, but you do go over some interesting stuff. Pre-made notes are key, not only do they help you follow along but test are based 90% off of them. Dr. Butler is a good guy and tries even though its boering.
I took this as a night class and it gets looong! He tends to over explain things, and gets boring. It's also hard to understand what he's talking about. The class isn't overly difficult, but I wouldn't say it's easy.
class is boring! tests are from notes from copyworks but test questions are still hard.
don't buy the book
No book, but have to buy lecture slides if want them. Nice guy, humorous. Tests challenging, study well. Gives extra credit options.
he is a fantastic teacher that offers extra credit...yay! he gives enthusiasm during class, no matter how bland some of it may be.Take him without a doubt!
Since history and systems of psych is the most boring class ever, he actually made it kind of interesting. hardest part of the class is the paper, but you get to choose who you write the paper about. biggest effort you have to make is reading for the daily quizzes. take him in the summer because it's way too boring to take during the school year.
Nice teacher that is fun to listen to. Keeps class interesting. Has study guide that covers exactly what is on the test but his tests are still relatively hard.
Boring as a night class. Reads directly from slides, but the slides are available to buy, which is highly recommended. Study guides for the tests, however the study guides don't go over everything on the tests. Tests are hard. Not many points in this class.
Very clear. Organized. Even though it's a boring night class it's not so bad and it's only once a week. Tests are relatively easy. Mostly concepts and not definitions though. Take this class for sure.
awesome teacher... able to get the class involved. i would highly recommend him! tests are not really that bad.
Dr.Butler is an awesome teacher. dispite the fact that night class is boring as hell , this particular class is not that bad. The professor is clear and gives you extra-credit chance. the easiest way to get an A is to study responsibly ( you will find on his website a link on each exam that shows you what you should know and study exactly. Take it!
Awesome teacher. Very helpful and approachable
Test has no construct validity
Very good teacher!
Class is super boring, tests are kind of hard. Not flexible for any adjustments of any kind (including tests and papers). If you study his slides in detail you should be okay for the test. Don't buy the book.
One of the best professors I had at UNI. I thought organizational psych. was very interesting. he seems quite mundane until you get into week 2+, when you find out that he can be hilarious. Highly recommended.
An expert at this area, he transfers the info to students interestingly & usefully. Dont buy book, uses a copyworks notebook for his text, all you really need. I learned a TON in his class & would take another with him anyday. Grade= 4 exams (45 multiplechoice & 1 essay), 1 paper (out of 3 options), attendance & Xtra credit. LOVED THIS CLASS!
His night class runs rather long and he usually lecture for the entire time. His power points are very informative and have most of the info on them for tests. He gives a study guide on WebCT that lists everything you need to know for the test. You will do well if you attend class with his printed power point and take a few extra notes.
I LOVE how organized this professor is. He has everything you need right up front on the syallbus as far as papers, tests, etc. His powerpoints are great and he explains things really well.
Dr Butler is a great professor! His power points are informative and pretty straight forward. Pretty easy class if you show up and pay attention.
Dr. Butler is a good teacher with a solid teaching style and not out of this world expectations. Pulling an A or B should be quite easy, so long as you actually show up and take the quizes. I came in two weeks late and had a bit of trouble, but, in all honesty, you hardly need to go to class. Nice guy, I see him with his kids at the WRC allthe time
His class was really easy for the most part. 4 tests, you'll be fine if you study, all multiple choice. no papers. At first he seems boring but he has a sense of humor. Its not super exciting, but he is nice and easy course
I took his class 2 years ago, and I still go back to my notes.
I had him my first semester of freshman year for intro to psych. He is pretty easy & basically all you have to do is study his powerpoint notes and you'll pass his exams. He does random participation exercises so that's why I said attendance is mandatory. Otherwise it's not because you can print off the notes & he doesn't add much during lecture.
Fine at teaching. Taught through powerpoint. Listen when he says study with notecards! It helps! Tests are hard, but easier if you study a week beforehand.
Take Butler! His night class isn't too horrible for a night class-he has a sense of humor that keeps it moving. He has a lot of stories that relate to the topic & make it easier to understand. Tests are easy if you study. Random participation pts so go to class! 5 or 6 quizzes taken on eLearning with your book. I'd take him all over again! Nice guy
Butler was my favorite professor this semester. Going to class is optional, but it does help for tests. You only have 1 quiz online every other week, and they are very easy. Tests are super easy and he gives you a study guide for each test. Just make flash cards with the words and you will easily get a A in this class. I would recommend Butler 100%
Class is interesting to go to. Tests are somewhat difficult but plenty of opportunities for extra credit. My only complaint is after finals I brought up a problem with my final grade, it was 2 points short. When I pointed out the simple adding error, he refused to correct it. Who knew 2 points could really kill your GPA.
Easy class. funny sometimes and offensive sometimes. explains things well. grade is based on open book/at home quizzes, tests, and a few lab reports. i recommend him
Very organized teacher, all power points and other materials are on eLearning. Tests and online quizzes are fair. He gives a study guide for the tests and they are helpful. I recommend him!
basically what you need to do in this class is do online quizzes which you can use your book with, do research report (very easy and short) on the experiment that you do as a class, read some articles and summarize them as "out of class experience", and that is it:) he is a funny teacher; I like his stories
Very easy class but boring at times. He's really funny and nice. Not much homework. Make flashcards, they help a lot.
Tests are easy. He gives you a list of things you should know for the test. Everything he covers in class is in the powerpoints on elearning. There's mandatory out of class experience points and discussion postings he doesn't remind you about so read the syllabus. There's quizzes also and the info comes from the book.
Can be funny, pretty easy class but can get a little boring sometimes.
Super easy tests. Lectures can be a little dry sometimes but he explains the information very clearly. Weekly online quizzes based off the book can actually be difficult. Also must get out-of-class experience points by participating in research studies. Overall, good class and I highly recommend Butler.
Good professor. Very easy tests, just know what the terms are about (not just the definition). Uses PowerPoint notes in class lecture. The book is very easy/interesting to read, and is used for online quizzes. Need to be a research participant for credit. Class not mandatory. Decently interesting lecture. He's pretty accommodating if you need help.
Adam Butler was a pretty bad professor. I was actually interested in learning about psychology, but he was extremely unhelpful. Super arrogant, too. The class material wasn't super difficult, but the text book and all homework and quizzes were online— and pretty hard to navigate. It felt like an online class... Try to get a different teacher!
The class itself is easy. All you have to do is learn the vocab words for the tests. The professor is awful though and I would recommend taking it with somebody else. He is extremely arrogant and close minded, and at times rather insulting especially to those who are religious. He has no toleration to those who have a different opinion than him
6 tests which are not hard if you use the key terms list he gives. Weekly online quizzes are not too bad since you can use your book. Out of class research participant credits required. Comprehensive final is not too hard either
I really enjoyed Dr Butler as a professor, he explains things well and is funny. He is very opinionated but as someone who is very conservative I never felt as though he was mocking me. Willing to help learned a lot in his mini labs. I highly recommend him and wish I could take more classes with him.
He is very arrogant. He even made a cancer joke. His tests are only 25 questions so if you miss more than 3 you're screwed. Quizzes are before every test but he assigns them before you even go over the material. He is also very one sided with opinions, but if you study hard you can pass with a B+
Absolutley loved him! Everything was very clear when he explained things. In class activities are fun! All tests have study guides and are 25 questions. online 10 question quizzes are due almost every week but are straight from the book. I would highly suggest taking him!
Professor Butler is my favorite professor yet. He is hilarious and makes classtime go by quickly. His tests are simple, everything on it comes straight out of the study guide he gives you! Definitely take him if you need this class!
Bulter was one of the easiest professors I had. Although he seemed a little quirky at first, he was a great teacher and kept my interest throughout the course. He related the info to many different things to make it easy to follow, and told random jokes throughout his lectures. Overall great professor who I would recommend to anyone.
EASY class. Whole class was powerpoint lecture, with some in-class activities he would alert you to prior via e-mail. Some "out of class" experiments that take about 15 minutes. About 6-10 25 point quizzes followed by a 50 point final. Do the study guide and get all the answers from the powerpoint (posted online). Nice & cool guy, sort of carefree.
Very easy class. It says a textbook is required but I rarely used mine. He will allow you to attend other sections if you aren't able to make it to class. The quizzes are online outside of class and the tests are very similar to the study guide. The only downfall is he is kind of monotone but he does throw in jokes every once in a while.
Lectures heavily with PowerPoint. A few test questions come from the book, most from class slides. Butler's expectations are very clear, grading is clear, some test questions are made obvious, and he has a sense of humor. You get attendance points as extra incentive but aren't penalized for missing lecture. STUDY YOUR SLIDES..you will pass!
Online quizzes, mainly over vocab. Lectures off of PowerPoints. If you study the PowerPoints you should be okay. I only used the book for the quizzes. I really liked this professor.
Pretty easy professor. Lots of outside class work. Quizzes over sections before you even learn them but most answers can be found in the book. Class isn't mandatory, but once in a while get extra credit for going to class. This class is easy to pass if you study the lecture notes from the slides
Great professor, he's funny and keeps things interesting. Lots of small group activities in class, which I like a lot. You can pass the tests without referencing the textbook too much as long as you take good notes in class, but there are quizzes that you'll really need the book for.
Don't buy the book he has power points that explain everything on the exams. He's funny and a great teacher. If you can take him do it. His exams are easy and his final is comprehensive but he gives you study guides that you can look over it. easy A/B class.
His exams are based off his lecture slides, but some questions are worded tricky so watch that! The quizzes are online and you will use the book 100% of the time. He did a great job making lectures interesting with his jokes and funny stories, and you get extra credit by having good attendance! I would definitely take him again.
Really good at teaching the subject. Knows what he's doing. Funny. Makes class interesting. Lots of in class participation which helps with the learning.
I really liked Butler as a professor. His lectures are very interesting and he explains things well.
I really liked Butler as a professor. His lectures are very interesting and he explains things well. He has do exercises that make the subject more understandable.
He makes the class interesting. Don't buy the book, its free online plus he has power points which is all you have to study. I wish all professors taught like him !
He's a pretty good professor, has online quizzes that are pretty easy if you read the book. There are a lot of exams though, but they don't take long and are pretty easy because he tells you what's on it. Overall I would take him again.
I took Butler's Intro to Psychology course. His lectures are all PowerPoints that he posts online, so there is really no need to go to class (which most people didn't). You never get anything back-- tests or assignments. Makes awkward comments and remarks that made the entire class uncomfortable. Wouldn't recommend.
Boring class. Have to participate in psych research, which wasn't in the description and is annoying. Tests are kinda tough and there are 6+final. Few assignments throughout. Grades pretty harshly even though it's a class for freshmen. Seems nice enough, but not really personable. Need book for quizes. Tests are off powerpoints.
First and for most you don't have to show up to the class to succeed. Outside of when he talks about the few assignments you have, you are fine to skip as long as you read and look at the notes. All he really does in his lectures are read the power points and add a few extra things. His lectures are interesting though.
Had Mr. Butler for Psychology, if you go to class the first two days and only on test days, you will get an okay grade. All notes are online, the classes just consist of lectures off power points. He is a cool guy, just a boring subject.
I really enjoyed his class because his lame jokes kept it interesting and he did a great job of explaining things with examples.
Great teacher and class. Very organized and clear. Hes able to get through and explains things very well. I'd definitely take his classes again.
Very clear in his lectures. He is easy to understand, and interesting to listen to. I would recommend him as a professor. He has awesome lectures, and is passionate in his field!
Great Professor! Probably one of my favorites this year. Funny, quirky, and really clear when it comes to grading. Classes aren't too bad, if you miss a day it isn't the end of the world. Mini-labs are all explained and on elearning. Tests all multiple choice and some are online. Didn't use the book very much.
Boring lectures. Hard grader. Tests do not follow study guide. Only extra credit takes lots of time to complete and is only worth one point. Does not offer any feedback.
Professor Butler has good lectures, although sometimes dry. However his exams are pretty in depth and tricky. His PE-Fit project is extremely hard, with confusing instructions, and graded pretty harshly. Online exams with open book are nice. Use the study guides for the tests and attend lectures regularly. Don't hesitate to ask for help though.
A hard class. You have to remember literally every single thing you learn and read for the tests. I took this class during covid times. He ended the class early once because he got mad we were not participating. So I guess be prepared to participate. It's a hard class, but if you need it, you can pass.
This class wasn't too hard online but you definitely need the textbook for the quizzes. The exam questions mostly come from lectures which are posted online. Butler is a smart, nice, kind of awkward guy who really knows his stuff. Would take a class with him again.
Get ready for lectures! He tries to make them interesting with videos and jokes. Overall pretty good prof. Gives study guides even for comprehensive final. Grade is made up of 6 unit tests, quizzes over the textbook which was online, and lab reports. Everything open note & online. Have to do research participation. If you study and do SGs easy A.
Professor butler really cares about his students and loves to keep you engaged. His tests are tough but if you go to class it makes them much easier.
I had Adam for Intro to Psych and I really enjoyed the class. He records all his lectures and posts them to blackboard, so if you don't show up to class it's no big deal. He posts the study guides for all the tests, and tests are fine as long as you go to class and take notes or watch the lecture videos. He's a bit quirky and weird, but a nice guy.
He was a good instructor. Didnt care about attendance really. Tries to crack jokes and be funny. His lectures can get boring because he goes at a very slow pace but it makes it very easy to understand whats going on. Open note tests. I learned a lot and it wasnt hard to pass.
Absolutely awful. Met with him outside of class and he was still no help. Very arrogant and honestly disrespectful to students. Hes tests are extremely difficult and his blackboard is a mess.
Can't say anything good. I stopped coming to class because I wasn't getting anything out of it. He doesn't teach to his tests. They have the most random, specific things and he hand writes them so the answers are literally no where. I am a good student and do everything I should do, but I am still failing. He is unrealistic, arrogant, and rude.
Dr. Butler is a funny guy with a good attitude. If you take this class, be prepared to take notes! He lectures slowly, so you should be able to keep up. Do all the extra credit- it's easy! As long as you attend class and take notes, you will live.
The worst experience that I have experienced. The assignments weren't hard but his exams were near impossible. Each exam had multiple questions that were never mentioned in class and each exam was 40 individual questions. By far one of the worst classes that I have taken
Dr. Butler is a great professor. Funny lectures, the notes are online. Everything is from the slides and occasional reading assignments. Extra credit is scarce but there. The group assignments are the hardest part and are graded harshly. Tests are decently hard so study the review sheets. Weighted grades too so hard to know what you got til the end
Professor Butler teaches a good class. His exams are difficult but you'll have opportunities after to earn a couple extra points reviewing the most difficult questions. Come to every class for the little quiz credits - they matter. Entertaining lectures and notes available outside class as well - review them before the exams for the best chance.
Professor Butler's class is engaging, with funny lectures and online notes. The exams are tricky, so use the review sheets and Unstuck study for prep. Attendance is a must, but the extra credit helps offset the difficulty.
