The only grades you have are two tests and a final. He is an awful teacher, doesn't explain well, and if you miss a class you will never catch up. He doesn't help and I would tell everyone I know to never take him.
This class was tough and the amount of studying required to even make a B on one of his quizzes was ridiculous for a 1 credit class. I had an A in my biology lecture, and studied for the pre-lab quizzes for an hour or two and consistently made B's and C's. He was never prepared for the lab, and so much time was wasted. Also, not a fair grader.
This professor doesn't know what does it mean to be a teacher.. He just gives super hard quizzes with tricky questions, and all the questions are not expected. He is not fair at all in grading; I spend literally 3 hours before every class to study for the quizz and I still can't get an A.. Even though I have a perfect A in lecture. DONT TAKE HIM!!!
Pretty cool teacher, funny. Doesn't tolerate talking, or cell phone use at all so don't even do it. HW is strictly textbook reading followed by chapter quizzes each week (online), separate from lecture. Quizzes are pretty easy as long as you pay attention and take notes. All around a cool guy. If you study, and pay attention you'll be fine.
Chupp is a pretty good professor. He is hilarious, but you will have to work hard for a good grade. Tests come from lecture and maybe 5 or so questions off online homework. He gives some extra credit. All in all he's not a bad teacher. You will do fine in this class if you put some effort into it.
Attend lectures and take notes. Study your notes and you will do fine. He gives you your test back if you ask for it so you can study for the final. His humor makes the lectures seem short, just don't get caught talking or on your phone because 1) it's disrespectful and 2) it irks him and he'll call you out for it.
His test can be difficult because his wording on question are very confusing. Quizzes are a little easier because you can use you notes on quizzes but not the test. He is not that helpful and the class is not interesting.
Very tough teacher. He is nice and funny but if you want to make a good grade you have to work for it. I would not recommend him if you want an easy class. tests are hard.
He gives you all the information you will ever need in lecture. Print off the outlines or fill them in on your laptop as he goes over them. study exactly this and his tests are pretty easy. There's weekly online homework, make sure to do this. Most annoying part of the class is the time, a 3 hour night class is rough no matter how good he may be.
I loved his class even though it was a long night class. His tests came from lecture notes and homework. I didn't even really need the book. Really enjoyed his teaching style, and he's an awkwardly funny guy. We had online homework and 5 online quizzes. I'd say he's the best bio professor at south compared to what I've heard about others.
Take notes in lecture, read the chapters, and you should be fine on the tests. Don't forget to do online Launchpad assignments (they're a big chunk of your grade). Final was similar to previous tests.
His lectures are very clear and he gives you the tests back to study after each test. He offers bonus points and participation points, so come to class and pay attention. I didn't buy the textbook and had a little prior knowledge of biology from high school and it was super easy.
He's a great guy! Funny, and definitely helpful if you go and ask for it. But, he is a TOUGH grader. I wasn't expecting to study as much as I had to because this is only a lab, but it was my lowest grade. You need to study the study guide, powerpoint, and take notes on lecture in order to make a passing grade. Great guy, tough professor.
Chupp is a great teacher and will make a good grade as long as you go to class and study the study guide & lecture for quizzes.
Dr. Chupp is a cool and funny teacher! His lectures are clear and the tests come straight from the notes. Sometimes he'll add a few Launchpad questions to the tests but not often. Tests were pretty easy. Lowest quiz grade dropped. Compared to the rest of the bio teachers at South, he's gotta be the best. Take him if you can!
I recommend going to all the lectures. He posts the incomplete PowerPoints on Sakai before class, and you fill them in during class. That was pretty nice. Don't get the book. Just the online code for the homework. You get access to the online book. The exams are lecture based rather than book material. Study, study, study! I could have had an A.
Dr. Chupp is the best professor that I have ever had at South in my five years here. He is an incredible teacher! He really cares about the subject of biology and cares for his students. He does not care to give every single student an A but he wants you to actually learn, not just work your way through. He made me want to learn! Take him! He's hot
By far my favorite professor i've had so far at south. When you need help, don't hesitate to ask. When you have a question, he will be happy to answer. He's hilarious in his own type of way and he makes a 3 hour long lecture interesting. He loves Biology and he really wants you to understand it. I would definitely take him again... & again, & again
He's a pretty good teacher. Nice, funny. It can get kinda boring if it's at night for 3 hours but he's a cool guy. Really mature and laid back.

Dr. Chupp is a great professor. His test come straight from the lecture, so I recommend making notecards after each class and studying them. His test are not difficult if you study a little bit everyday because there is a lot of information to memorize. Always show up for class because he uses clicker questions for attendance. Attendance matters!!
Dr. Chupp is hella attractive. His class is pretty cool too. I don't really care for science, but he made it fun. The online component is annoying, but bearable.
Chupp is nice to look at, but he isn't that great of a teacher. He can kind of clarify difficult concepts but most of his teaching is kind of boring. Could be because class was 6-9pm. I would totally recommend him over Major though! A lot of homework. Scales some tests and gives some extra credit. Doing launchpad will guarantee you at least a B.
He changes his mind about things. Do not study the slides they're useless. He may give some extra credit, but don't count on it. Do your homework! Be on time!
Just transferred from UAB. Honestly, if you fail Chupp, you shouldn't be in college. It's simple as that. Do all the homework, don't miss deadlines and you are guaranteed a B. To get an A, just put some effort in studying the slides and launchpad and notes. Pretty easy A. Everyone that complains about him just isn't ready for college yet. Easy A!
In the lecture there is a lot of launchpad homework, a few sakai quizzes, and a couple of tests, tests come from launchpad (he'll say they come form lecture but they're mostly from launchpad) launchpad is a huge part of your grade so don't worry if you aren't doing great on tests, lab is kinda difficult but study protocol a lot and you'll do fine
Pay attention in class and do the LaunchPad assignments and you will be okay! Funny professor, too!
This class was great and Chupp is a great guy. The tests were a little more difficult than the assignments but luckily he gave enough assignments and extra credit that I came out with an A after making Cs and Ds on the exams. I recommend attending class even though its not required just incase he decides to give extra credit or text review.
Do all Launchpad and Learning Curve if he offers it. This has the potential to bump you up a whole letter grade. Tests are a combo of lecture, launchpad, and quiz questions. Chupp is not very nice but an A is possible.

Dr. Chupp is the best teacher I've had this year. He is really passionate about Bio and it really reflects. Tests are a mixture of Launchpad and lecture notes. As long as you pay attention and gain an understanding of the lectures you'll be fine. Also, a very dry sense of humor and will give you extra credit when needed.
Dr. Chupp knows his stuff when it comes to biology but I don't feel like he was always the best instructor. You just never knew what was going to be on the tests and where the material even came from, they did seem to get easier though as the semester went along. Received an A in the classe but it was from the online quizzes and extra credit
Hard to take useful notes to study for the even harder exams. Learning curves that are due every Sunday in the e-text dont help for understanding material. Must have an iClicker for random attendance taking. But he is funny and will help you if you reach out to him.
Dr. Chupp is an ok instructor. He did not lecture very well and you had to figure out things on your own, but it helps you learn the material in lab. BE SURE TO DO YOUR HOMEWORK!
By far, best professor ever. He makes you work for your grade, but not a hard professor. Always willing to answer any questions and cracks jokes during lecture! He is all about his students truly understanding the material and not just memorizing it. I would take him a million times over again. His good looks are a plus!
He is test heavy.
He's very passionate about the subject, which is good for getting students more involved for an 8 am. But he does seem to forget that this is many students' first time in a university lab, and can be a little short in answering questions. You will also need to know his lab reports backwards and forwards for quizzes if you want an A.
Chupp was a pretty cool guy. He gives bonus, so when offered take it. Make sure to do launchpad because it is worth a lot! His tests come from his lectures and launchpad. They aren't too hard but make sure to study for them. I took him for lecture and lab and got an A in both. I recommend taking him.
If you do take this professor just make sure you get a 100 on all of the quizzes and launch pads because your grade will benefit extremely from it . The test are very hard because of the way he words his questions. Overall, I honestly could of taught myself because all he does is reads what is on his slideshows.
I had Dr. Chupp as a lab instructor and he was the type of person who barely went over the lecture, and treated you like you were dumb you had a question, as long as you pay attention and study, you will come out fine.
Dr. Chupp is very inappropriate and his tests are all over the place. The launchpads are very, very important. He cusses a lot and calls people out. Many of the class are freshman so he treats them disrespectfully because he knows they're probably too scared to say anything. He will also blatantly ignore you.
Chupp is passionate about biology, but do not get this confused with caring about his students. He reads straight off of his presentations- I can teach myself better at home. He expects you to know every little detail listed in the book for the chapter exams (which are on about 7-8 chapters) I feel like he made this class harder than it should be.
Going to the class is a waste of time. He reads from the power point. Tests are nearly impossible to pass unless you devote your life to studying. He expects everyone to feel as passionately about bio as he does &he expects you to know the material as well as someone with a PhD in Bio like him. Biology was my major, needless to say it no longer is
This guy is a really good teacher. His exams are pretty average. Not too easy but not to hard. Learning curves are a life saver. Take Chup!!!
I'm a pretty bright student. I've never received anything lower than the occasional B... until I came to Dr. Chupp's class. Any free time I had this semester was spent on biology. I was constantly studying, doing homework, and taking quizzes only to fail every test I took. I would NOT advise ANYONE to take Chupp.
Only gives vague lectures. Everyone failed the first exam, but they got easier as the semester went on. BUY THE BOOK and STUDY. Learn to teach yourself and you'll be fine. He's cute, though.
He has been my hardest class, by far. I have always made mostly A's in all my classes, but I am struggling in his class. He doesn't have many tests, but the few tests are very hard. Be prepared to read and do Launchpads!
This is not like a high school class. If you are willing to work for your grade, you will love Chupp and learn a lot beyond just the required material. He wants you to learn, but he can't force you to understand topics if you aren't willing to do your part. Do the online assignments and actually study and you will be fine.
You can tell Chupp is very passionate of what he does. But that does not mean he's a good teacher. He reads off the slides, and the only reason I know what's going on is from the launchpad assignments. Even when I study hard, I bomb the tests. Would not recommend taking.
Does not make it clear exactly what you should be studying between the extensive power points, giant textbook, and homework, which leaves me hoping I studied the right things by the time the exams rolled around. Tried talking to him after class a few times and it seems like he doesn't care for individual student success. Go to tutoring!!!
Only if you're a genius who took AP Biology will you do good in this class. Us normal plebians cannot understand anything of what he's saying in class. His lectures are super boring and hardly ever goes into details about the topics we're learning but expects you to know everything from the textbook. If you use some online resources you can do ok.
DO THE LAUNCHPAD, I was getting C's on the exams and doing launchpad and promising quizlets got me an A (d62two6d on quizlet ;)) His lectures are basically what he says on the power points but he does emphasize the important points, I fell asleep many times though and I ended up fine. You don't have to get the textbook the launchpad gives it online
Dont worry as much about the tests because doing the launchpad and quizzes are worth more than a test. Everything is on quizlet. Not the worst class Ive taken, but certainly not the easiest. Tests are quite hard. He expects you to know the stuff that is only one sentence in the whole book rather than a bigger and more covered concept in the book.
Tests r v hard if you do not already have a soild background in Biology. The homework assingments are v important for your grade. DO NOT MISS THEM. You can find the answers to the HW and saki quizzes online. Never counts attendance and I never got much from his lecture. not helpful when asking for help (even 1 on 1) No extra credit
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! All this man does read off powerpoints in the lecture and the said part is he told us before that "this is just the basic most of this will not be on the test." His test are almost impossible to pass, but if you do all of the hw you will have at least a low C. You really have to love bio to understand his teaching methods.

Everything from tests to homework is equal and based on a point system. so do the HW it will help your grade. All he does is read off the powerpoints but how else can you teach biology, and the powerpoints are mainly whats on the tests. The ebook comes with the launchpad so just buy the launch pad.
It is a challenging class, especially if youre not the best at studying, like me. He goes over powerpoints in class, but you need to read the book along with the corresponding chapter to pass with flying colors on exams. Homework helps a lot and he is approachable for help. Avoid taking chupp at all cost. I had him for bio 121 and I said if he was on my scedule for 122 I would just drop it and find another time. Tip: study powerpoints heavily. Quiz lets will help but dont use them as a sole source. Avoid him.
I really don't suggest his class. He doesn't give necessarily boring lectures, he just get stuck on one slide for like 30 minutes and gets side tracked very easily. Personally I felt like what we learned in class did not line up very well with tests and homework.
Dr. Chupp might be more difficult for entry-level bio classes but his upper-level courses are wonderful! He's clearly passionate about what he teaches and if you show interest then he will help you in any way he can. I know a lot of freshmen don't like him - but it's not high school anymore! Study and pay attention and you will do great.
Prof Chupp was an ok biology teacher. He offers power-points as notes and there is a bit of online homework. His lectures can be boring/monotone. The hardest thing about his class were the online quizzes, but you get a drop quiz so don't stress. Exams aren't too bad and if you study the homework questions and main concepts you should be just fine!
He gives powerpoint along with his lectures, but leaves them blank so that if you miss a day you cannot just study the powerpoint. Around 40% of the grade was online work. He does his personal tests based on what he goes over in class and doesn't assign all of chapters because some parts we do not need. Good teacher, just hard subject.
Professor Chupp is one of the hardest professors I have had. His whole class is based on lectures and even if you study, you are still at risk for failing. He does not help you out a lot when asked and absolutely NO recording his class. I do not recommend him for biology. If you can, try a different class.
This is a class where you will have to teach yourself but he presents the material in a way where he directs you to where exactly you need to focus. Grade is point based and consists of two tests, summaries, two critiques, a presentation and participation in discussions. His tests are multiple choice, fill in the blank, & short answer. Must go to class to fill out lecture outlines, tests are HEAVILY based on this material. The book is great to clarify concepts. Great and understanding teacher!
Chupp is not a bad teacher AT ALL. He really cares about his students but you MUST work for your grade. At times he is not the best at explaining, but he's available after class and has VERY FLEXIBLE OFFICE HOURS. DO ALL LAUNCHPAD ASSIGNMENTS AND READ WHAT'S IMPORTANT IN THE BOOK. Chupp wants his students not to memorize but understand biology.

This class is all lecture-based from powerpoints the professor makes, but the test questions do not reflect what is taught in class. It all comes from the book and online assignments.
Dr. Chupp is a great professor. He gives you general overview powerpoints (that are not completely filled in they have a few holes but his lecture powerpoints are filled in so if you just go to class you can fill them in) and then you have to read whatever he goes over from the book because he doesnt go into full detail. 10/10 would take him again.
Supplemental homework points are how you are going to pass the class. Attending the lectures helps some but just try and understand the processes of each subject. He pulls questions from the homework so those are always a great resource to pass
I never went to class and managed to pass with a C. YOU MUST BUY ACCESS TO LAUNCHPAD OR YOU WILL NOT PASS. Your homework assignments (launchpad) is what will carry your grade. I made 50s on all my test, but made A's on my homework assignments and passed with a C.
You only need to buy the access code for the launchpad which comes with the e-textbook. His lectures are somewhat helpful, but he does get mad when no one shows up and will keep you until the end of the lecture. I didn't like him, but everyone else did. He doesn't give study guides (don't ask) and expects you to know all of the material for tests.

I took one of his student teachers, but all of the labs were created by him. I am lucky not to have the actual class with him. Labs INSANE. It's like taking a full 3 credit class. On top of that he has a quantitative assessment at the end that covers all of the labs. No study guide. If you score decent,it can drop a full letter grade. NO MERCY!

Its a pretty easy class as long as you keep up with all the launchpads and show up to take the tests.
He has a very dry sense of humor and will call students out if they are playing games on their computers in class. If you read the textbook, you don't need to go to class. If you go to class, you don't need to read. The tests were easy and the homework was moderate and easy.
I honestly wish I'd taken someone else for Bio 121. His lectures are intense, and different from the book and the Launchpad - the tests are on all 3. So get ready to study like your life depends on it if you want a decent grade. I heard he's a bit eaesier in more advanced biology courses. I do respect Dr. Chupp a lot and he seems like a cool guy.

I'm a Bio major and I am well past BIO 121, I simply lost the credit in a transfer and decided retaking couldn't hurt. This class relies on VERY few grades and there's almost no work to supplement your grade. His tests are arbitrarily specific and the questions are unnecessarily niche. This is GENERAL BIOLOGY. My neuroscience course isn't as hard.
- Majority of the class is barely passing or not at all. - Dr. Chupp's response is to call entire class out for being lazy. After every test. - Dr. Chupp suggest we spend something like 18 hours a week on his class. - If you want to pass you will need to stop doing frivolous things such as sleeping, eating, etc. - 2/10 would never take again.
With things being online he has not been a great teacher. He gave an exam over 7 textbook chapters... hard to remember all of the material. He also gives out a lot of homework and you have to read a lot. I would not recommend this class to anyone taking it online.
(Fall19)Very boring class, if you struggle w/biology get a tutor ASAP. Chupp basically expects you to understand everything in advance, so it's unnecessarily complex for a low-level course. The Amoeba Sisters YT channel taught me better! Try to find a professor who isn't snarky and truly wants everyone to do well. Made an A w/a different professor.
Chupp is not a biology professor I would recommend taking. He does not care if you are not doing well in the class, and he does not help with extra resources for the class so that you can pass. He expects you to read the entire text book and throws too much information at you that is not even on the tests.

I came back for my second bachelors degree and I was required to take this class. I was excited to take this class but Chupp just confirmed my feelings for the subject. His lectures are dry and boring. He gets pleasure speaking above your head and showing off. Extremely arrogant and gives the impression of wanting you to fail. Avoid him at all cost
Took his class online. Had to read every single chapter of the textbook and watch his 1-2 hr lecture videos. My class had no zoom so I was pretty much teaching myself . Weekly hw that was easy. Tests on the other hand were hard
Took him online. NEVER replies to emails. Read the book, studied, and watched his lectures still made no sense and barely passed. He gets easily sidetracked during lecture videos. Homework was the only thing that gave my grade hope.
(Took class online during COVID-19) Studied extensively for this class, hired tutor, reached out for help, and still only made a 78. Test are random, extremely specific questions. I was told word for word from Chupp to not focus on the homework, it is not important for the test or the class material. Does not respond to emails. No extra credit.
Absolutely terrible taking online, lectures and homework rarely line up with quizzes and tests. Pretty much stuck teaching yourself to try and pass.

I took this course online because of COVID. Professor Chupp's were very specific relating to both his lectures and launchpad. This course is already a tough course and he had no remorse for students. He acted as if we were supposed to know everything, so was very rude and sarcastic about questions that were asked. YOU HAVE TO STUDY!
THE HARDEST PROFESSOR! RUN AWAY! Granted, I did take him in a time of coronavirus so he might be better in a "in person environment" but it is literally the worst thing I have ever willing signed up and paid for. Please try to take literally anyone else. I do not think it could get worse really.
Dr. Chupp rarely responds to emails and when he does, they are rude. The majority of your grade comes from doing Launchpad, but all of the tests come from his lectures. The lectures are usually split into a minimum of 4 videos and are an hour long each. He expects you to know certain things as if you've already taken the class.

Alright, I took this guy online this semester. Hes definitely not the easiest professor, but hes by no means the worst. If I would have been able to take it online, Im sure it would have been better.

He likes to assign 3+ launchpads on Wednesday when they are due the following Sunday. He doesn't care that you are struggling all he says is that "its all right there" like that helps. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS IF YOU DO NOT HAVE TO!!! And If you do have to I am truly sorry.
I hoped that this teacher would be helpful and kind. But it was the exact opposite. Class is lecture heavy so dont miss class. Do all of the homework assignments, quizzes, and reading. 10/10 would not recommend taking him. He seemed chill at first, but hes awful. Doesnt care if you understand anything. The test material comes from thin air. For reference, its finals week rn. I had a quiz today, exam 3 is tomorrow, quiz 5 is also tomorrow, and our final is Wednesday. Theres no way to actually learn anything in this class!
Chupp gets a lot of hate but hes not as bad as what everyone says. Tough class but definitely manageable if you study his PowerPoints. Do not skip the LP because it is a huge % of your grade. Itll make or break you.
Mr. Chupp is an okay guy but I never listened during class I taught myself bio. Launch pad has nothing to do with what you're learning but will help your grade big time!! My biggest tip is to do good on your launch pad assignments and always listen to him about testing your knowledge. Testing your knowledge is always on your quizzes and exams!!
I'm so glad that I have read the reviews. I feel like I am expected to know what the class was about before coming in. I know Bio isnt my best subject but the amount of work combined with not explaining it before in class infuriates me. I feel better that im not the only one that feels like this but I wish i had known sooner.
Dr. Chupp is a fun guy in conversation and he seems like a chill dude, but he makes for a mediocre teacher. The exams are all based on the lecture materials but sometimes questions will show up that have nothing to do with what was on the lecture slides. He can be a bit stuck up too.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. if you have the chance, please choose another professor. i have always cared about my school work and grades, but chupp makes it hard to want to even try to succeed. he lectures from a powerpoint, but the tests and quizzes have absolutely nothing to do with any material that is covered during lectures. would not recommend.
This class is very hard. There are lots of notes to be taken, multiple homework assignments that take hours,and most of the test questions don't even be really from the notes. Tries to be funny and gets off topic when teaching. Doing all homework assignments really saved my grade by a hair. If you don't study,you will not pass. I advise not taking.
I feel like the lecture notes did not help me with anything. The quizzes and exams felt like they came from thin air. The only reason I am barely passing is because of the homework because my grades on the quizzes and exams are that bad.
I took him my freshman year. I definitely would not recommend his class, because it is unnecessarily difficult. He told us that half the class was failing because we were lazy. If you do have to take him, go to lectures and read the books, and you should do fairly well.
He's actually not that bad, and you can pass as long as you show up to class and study the lecture notes he gives you. His tests and quizzes aren't that hard; in fact, his homework seems tougher to me. His homework isn't that bad to complete. The textbook helps, but it is not necessary.
There is not a single this Professor Chupp did this entire year that helpful, enjoyable, nor did he enrich my knowledge one bit. This is the worst class I have ever taken. Nothing he taught us was on any of his tests. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!
I really enjoy Dr. Chupps class and I dont understand the hate. If you show up and study like he says to then you will be fine. and do the launchpad assignments because they are a big part of the grade.
Must do the launchpad assignments to pass, but do NOT study them for your tests. The test material comes straight from the NOTES under each PowerPoint slide, so I highly recommend downloading the PowerPoints to your computer each week. The tests are hard, & you have to study. The highest grade I made on a test was a 21/30. The quizzes are open note
Dr. Chupp really isn't that bad. The lectures are incomplete, and you should go to class to fill it out (or ask to get it from someone). Just study the lectures, and you will do well because that is where the tests come from like he says. My only complaint is the homework because it seems useless, but it helps your grade so make sure to do it!
Dr. Chupp was one of the best teachers I had all year. He was very accessible outside of the classroom and his lectures were great. The test questions come from the slides so make sure to pay attention. He also keeps a zoom of all his lectures which is very helpful for revising old material.
Chupp is not all that bad like I expected him to be. He is a fairly friendly guy and very accommodating. Half your grade is just completing assignments and they're not even for accuracy so it is easy to keep a decent grade. Overall I think he is a solid option.
He isn't as bad as everyone says. Attendance isnt mandatory but you need the lecture material to pass the tests. Intense studying needed for the tests. A drop quiz and test grade with some extra credit is pretty forgiving
Dr. Chupp really was not bad. His lectures were pretty standard, and it really helps to study the power points since the test is based on it. Homework assignments were harder than the actual test and it was useless, but its graded on completion. I never read the book, but i studied the powerpoints and did well on test. Overall pretty good.
I'm neutral. He doesn't take attendance so if you just want to learn for yourself you can. He teaches right off the powerpoint. Tests are kind of difficult but if you take notes and study you'll be fine. He rounds your grade at the end of semester so 69.5=70. Two drop quizzes. One drop exam. Two EC. Don't miss LP assignments!
I had no other option but to take him & I was rlly nervous bc of reviews. Hes actually a gr8 prof. Tests are from lecture and notes under the PP slides which you can download. I read the textbook supplementally for studying. review the PPs and take notes b4 lectures n ur golden. He always replies to emails and is rlly helpful in office hrs
Dr. Chupp wasn't horrible, but definitely not my favorite. Definitely go to class and take notes on lecture if you want to get a good grade. His tests are tough even if you study a lot, but usually he puts the wrong answer on Canvas tests, so if he does and you catch it and bring it to him, he usually gives credit back. He uses Lockdown Browser:(
Chupp ruined my love for bio. He only cares for himself instead of this students.
If you're thinking about taking him, don't. He may be an easy professor but he does not come to class prepared to teach at all. Some days, he would show up and just flip through things and pick something to speak on. I don't believe I've learned anything throughout this class. Don't take him. It'll just make you angry.
Chupp is everything you do not want your college professor to be. Generally an awful person, treats his college students like middle schoolers. DO NOT TAKE CHUPP.
Dr. Chupp is one of the best professors I've had at South. The material was well-organized on Canvas and his lectures were very entertaining. You will need to study a lot to get an A but its college so that should be expected. He was also readily available outside of class. I highly recommend taking his class.
Chupp is a terrible teacher. Attendance isn't mandatory but there are grades for attendance. Quizzes are testing your knowledge questions, when you get to class you will understand. Tests are testing your knowledge questions and quiz questions. He hates to curve even if half the class fails. Lots of homework.
He's not the worst teacher I had but he is one of them. I was top 10 in high school and I know how to study and apply myself. However, no matter how hard I studied the best I made on his tests was a B. His test questions vary and are based right on the slides but he will pull the smallest irrelevant details and use them for the test.

Don't bother getting the book, all graded material is based 100% of of PowerPoint lecture material
He rambles a lot, but read the powerpoint slides. They are on the tests. His testing your knowledge questions are normally on the test but they are flipped/different words. Do not fully trust the quizlets, they are not that accurate. He has homework but it boosts your grade so definitely do it. Socratic is your best friend when doing these.
Chupp was the hardest prof I have had so far. He is willing to help and answer emails and is very chill. I have never made an A on his test because they are VERY difficult and have little to do with the lecture; although some questions are testing your knowledge. He allows one drop test and quiz which is generous. HW was useless
He is not near as bad as everyone makes him out to be. He offers plenty of extra credit, and the tests are STRAIGHT from the lectures and powerpoints. Don't bother reading the book to study because everything he tests on is in the powerpoint.
Great professor but a challenging class for sure. Study the lecture powerpoints and you'll be fine.
