This guy is so mean! He is very unclear and grades harshly. Stay away!
HE BLOWS. He makes you think the assignment is simple then grades with an iron pen. He has a tendency to make you feel stupid.
He's a tough grader, but he's a cool guy. Don't expect an easy A.
Go to class, STUDY the material, and you might just get a 'B' in his class.
I didn't have a hard time (I got an 'A'), but the postings regarding his personality are right on. He is a bit of a jerk and not very helpful/clear.
dont take him if you can..he makes the lab quizzes so much harder then they should be. not a very good lab instructor i wouldnt recommend him to anyone
I couldn't stand this guy. He's a bit of a jerk and he's cocky, too. Acted like you were stupid if you ask a question.
Adam was great! Very clear and concise lectures, very knowledgable about biology and seems to enjoy what he teaches. I thought he was very approachable and helpful with questions. Pay attention, take notes and review before each class, and you'll be fine.
attend mandatory, thinks multiple choice actually hinders one's grade... quiz ?s will be fill in the blank or short answer questions..and questions can be some of the most tinest, yet detailed info that you wouldnt expect, must study hard for an A, but it is possible..also will take of for mispelling a word
If you actually approached Adam with a legitimate question, he was very nice and far less cocky. With half the girls in the class trying to flirt their way to the answer, you can't blame him for being stand offish. At first I thought he was being too hard for a 101 class but about half way through I realized there was method to his madness and ever
Try not to take him if you can. He makes a one credit class way to hard. He grades really hard and his quizzes are fill in the blank. It seemed like he used the information we talked about the least on the quizzes to. He doesn't approach the information he is teaching with much enthusiasim either, so his class lectures are quite boring.Avoid if u c
really not a good professor. not helpful.
He is horrible...he won't give our SI leader anything to go over with us.
I think Adam's great. He's lectures are simple and his tests are extremely easy. You don't even have to go to class everyday, just read from the book. People complain a lot about him but if you just *listen* you should be fine.
TEST ARE REALLY HARD, QUESTIONS ARE VERY SPECIFIC FROM DETAILED INFORMATION. CLASS AVERAGE = LOW 60, BUT IF YOU WANT A "B" IN HIS CLASS U HAVE TO WORK REALLY HARD. DO YOUR READING AND TAKE NOTES, TAKE NOTES, TAKE NOTES, HIS TESTS COME FROM NOTES. ITS A VERY HARD CLASS, BUT HE IS A GOOD TEACHER
It was a very hard class. There is alot of material on the tests and the tests are very short 33 ?'s. But all the questions on the test come straight from the notes. So go to class takes notes and memorize the notes ull do fine. Also u only have 4 tests and a final, no quizzes so you have to do really good on his tests for a good grade.
does not post anything on blackboard as far as lectures or notes go. i went to class everyday and sat in the front still had a difficult time. tests are difficult, but come from the notes. but the questions are specific and the notes are very long and detailed.
His tests are very hard. They come from his notes so you have to go to class and take very detailed notes, not just whats on the powerpoint, but what he says,Bring a laptop! He does not give extra work to boost up your grade, the grade on your test is what you get. No extra credit. The class wasn't even Bio 101, it was Bio 300 or something
He makes the class more difficult than what it is. He doesn't post powerpoints on blackboard, not that it would help anyways. Attendance is mandatory in order to pass the class because the notes basically are the test. You have to take detailed notes plus whatever is on the powerpoint. It's hard. It's difficult. Don't take it with him!
I attended every single one of his classes, had a tutor, and a wksp course for his class but I still was unable to pass. His test are extremely hard even though they come from the notes, the answers are similar and trip you up easily.Quite frankly I wasted my time and money, and I wish I could take a test just to keep me from retaking the class.
Going to his class just makes you more confused. He doesn't really know how to teach, and he is very young. He is not fair, and when the whole class fails a test, he does not think it is his fault, but the fault of the students. Go to SI, it will SAVE YOU. I would not recommend taking a class with him.
His class isn't hard @ all. I truly recommend attending class on a regular basis. SI sessions help tremendously. 33 MCs exam. Read notes taken in lecture before every exam and you should be okay. I got a B
Wayy to hard for a Bio 101 class. Tests were extremely difficult, only 33 questions, and most of what he lectured on wasn't on them. Don't bother asking him a question, he never gives you a clear answer. Go to SI if you want to know what anything he lectured on means. I would never take a class of his again.
honestly I really like him, he's the only professor I know that uses pictures in his slides and he likes what he teaches. He has a dry sense of humor (but pretty funny) and pretty cute :)
It's easy to pay attention because he's really cute. With that said the lectures are informative but they move pretty fast. Read the chapters every week, take good notes, go to SI and talk to other students. Hard quizzes but whatever, I'm gunning for a B.
while he may be cute, well REALLY cute, it is SO HARD to pay attention.. he is so monotonous, and his quizzes were so different from everything else. also, he puts way too many random pictures in his powerpoints...
You can really tell that he is very interested in what he is teaching however sometimes it comes across very complicated. You really have to pay attention in class and take good notes to do well on the tests and quizzes. All the quizzes are online and are timed but often very short (10 questions) Difficult to study for the exams
Adam moves too quikly & gives too much information. He needs to keep in mind that most of us are not bio majors and most of us feel overwhelmed by the mass of information. Also, his tests are "tricky" and just confuse us more. He needs to slow the flow of info and make the class more basic so we can pass it and move on.
adam is a nice guy and not to mention hot, but he moves way too fast. if u dont read the book, u will immediately be lost. his tests are very tricky and very confusing. he doesnt give anything but tests and quizzes so if u dont do well on either of them, u will fail the class (thats where i fall at)
Yes, he is easy to look at because he is a hottie hot hot; but i never listen to a word he says because he is BORING. He tries to be funny and sometimes is. He always asks trick questions on tests and there are not many grades in the class so it's hard to get an A unless you do well one everything.
Had a hard time in his bio 101 class. For a 100 level class you should be able to pass with no problem, but his lectures were all over he place and the tests were difficult. He seems very personable and nice but I would not recommend his class.
He goes against what the book says sometimes. I know people who failed his class and got an a in another. He tests on the note AND what he says. Unfortunatly he talks while you are coppying down notes from a powerpoint
He is cute, but it is not worth the trouble this class will cause you. Class averages for tests were never above a 65%! Most of time much lower, there is no way to earn extra credit and he doesnt post notes or test on Bb, so you have to go to class. overall: unless you are a bio major and want to dedicate your life to this class DO NOT TAKE IT!!
hes so cute! and I absolutely love his sense of humor, even if it's lame. you MUST attend class to get good grades, i never miss a class cause he's so cute!
he doesnt take attendance but it would help to attend every class because some things that he says is on the test. He doesnt put everything on his slides he just says them. I struggled in the beginning but i went to talk to him and he was there to help. he even had 2 S.I leaders
He doesn't take attendance but class averages are around 60%. Exams are extremely difficult even if you study and go to class everyday, lots of trick questions. Quiz almost every week, but are online and most people cheat and get 100's. Adam takes an introductory class and makes it 10x harder than should be. Don't take if you can avoid it!
i had this class my freshman yr. and he seemed super knowledgeable about his subject but he knew so much that he couldn't explain it clearly. he gave a LOT of detail. i'd stress for others to read the book AND go to class 'cause most of the tests were from what he was saying not just the slides. so make sidenotes.
Not anywhere near what I would call a good professor. Do not take his class if you don't have to. Has a bad attitude toward students, loves to assign quizzes and other work over breaks and during finals week.
he is a hott mess of journalism. all he ever does is talk, just talk. maybe once and awhile a joke or two, but nothing spectacular. CAUTION: ADAM CHUPP IS DANGEROUS DO NOT TAKE HIM---BAD GPAS WILL RESULT.I HATE HIM, NOT PERSONALLY, JUST FOR WHAT HE DID TO MY FIRST SEMESTER. too bad i'm a bio major, the class has totally made me rethink my major.
This class I feel is made for Biology majors, people very interested in biology. He is NOT the professor to take it you are just filling a GenEd requirement. His tests are extremely hard. He does drop 1 test grade and 2 quizzes, but he makes his tests so hard, that it doesn't really matter. TAKE ANOTHER BIOLOGY TEACHER!
terrible teacher, boring class, tests and quizes had stuff for 151 levels and above for a 101 level class. he is monotone and boring and tries to make some jokes but does not do a good job and is very mean and rude.
He seems to be new to teaching but is very knowledgeable in regard to Bio. His lectures are very clear and his tests and quizzes are generally a direct reflection of the material covered in class. You should read your textbook if you really want to connect ideas. Otherwise notes are fine. Overall I would recommend his class. You will def learn alot
If you study and go to class, it's so easy. I got an A. He can be a little boring. You must go to class because all his test/quiz questions come from notes, not so much the book.
It's not so much he's a BAD professor, because he's not. It's that he wants to make sure you know the material inside and out and that's why the quizzes and exams are so hard and tricky. Don't buy the book.EVERYTHING is from the notes and his lectures. GO TO CLASS!Take him only if you live and breathe bio, you'll def. really learn, otherwise, AVOID.
For a Bio 101 class, it isnt that easy. I didn't get the feeling he wanted his students to succeed. Finished with a B, studying notes is VERY important!!!
Do not take adam chupp's class if you just want a Bio 101 credit. Look for an easier teacher. Test and quizzes are very difficult with trick questions. Some material taught in class was contrary to the book, but he will test on his lectures. The lectures are boring and unenthusiastic. Isn't helpful/is rude to students/sends condescending emails out
When i first came to college one of my friends warned me about this professor. I should have listened. He is the hardest, most stubborn teacher that i have ever met. He does not care if his students pass or fail although he says different. If he cared, he wouldnt put trick questions in exams. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is a rough friggin' class, let me tell you. He seems to think we're all graduate students profoundly familiar with the topic. We're not. This was a Bio101 class, Bio for non-majors. Oh, all my friends told me "Bio 101 is a breeze!" this class almost kept me from graduating on time. I have never struggled for a D as much as I have here. Pray.
A lot of people complain about Adam but I think he was a great professor. All you have to do is go to his lectures take notes and sometimes read the book. I feel like most people complained about him because he doesn't baby the class. Hell, I fell asleep during a lot of his lectures and i still earned an A.
Hard but not impossible. takes alot of studying on your own
He goes by Adam. He tires to make dumb jokes that usually only amuse the first few rows of the class because those are the people who are really into bio. He teaches at too high of a level and is extremely boring. It will be the longest 50 minutes of your life! Watch out!
If you don't LOVE bio, don't take Chupp. He's an okay guy if you seek him out, but he can be a weiner too. HOURS of studying. I stayed with the class because he was hot and wound up working my ass off. He goes off BIO 151 materials, by the way, so you may want to check those out instead.
he basically sucked. noting but lecture notes and book reading. very boring
He is a great teacher, though the class is really boring. Come to class everyday, and take straight notes from the powerpoints, and all the tests are come from his notes. So recommend.
I miss adam already. : (
Worst teacher I had in my life. I came into my freshmen year of college thinking biology wouldn't be too hard but no it was the hardest class I had ever taken in my life. First of he is the most boring teacher ever. tests and quizzes were very very very hard. I got a D in his class, never did I put this much effort in getting a D. he ruined my GPA.
It is not an easy class. He will not post his powerpoint materials online, and that is really all he goes off of. Be prepared to write (or type) a lot a you struggle to copy down everything. He is willing to help if you seek him out. Tests are hard, you need to study. Attendance not mandatory, but recommended if actually want to pass.
i got an A suckkkkka this is college, no one is gonna spoon-feed you the information, you gotta learn it. i've noticed that everyone is just copying down his notes instead of looking up, hearing and understanding what he is saying. p.s. watch out for his corny jokes and scattered laughter
Listen AND TAKE GOOD NOTES...HIS TESTS ARE BASED ON WHAT HE SAYS IN CLASS SO ALTHOUGH IT IS EASY NOT TO COME TO CLASS YOU NEED TO TO GET A GOOD GRADE!!! I GOT A "B" BECAUSE I DID WELL ON THE FINAL!! The key is to GO TO THE LIFE SCIENCE building when he posts the tests!! look at them CAREFULLY you will see the stuff again
He is really clear and as long as you come to class, take the notes he posts and supplement them by listening, his tests are a breeze. There is no reason not to get an A in this class as long as you show up and study for his tests based on your notes. He's really good about giving you a heads up about important info on the test, just listen!
He (sometimes) can be really hard. But if you are willing to put in the time and effort, the experience will be worth your wild ;). The workload tends to be quite heavy, in his class, so just take it as it comes. It makes him happy when you put enthusiastic effort into extra open lab hours.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS if you are just taking bio as a grad requirement. Take Padolina's. This is my 2nd time taking bio and his class isn't just hard, it's ridiculous. There's either a quiz or a test EVERY week, & he doesn't put lectures ppts online. He also doesn't create study guide & says you can make your own and he'll "check it for you" etc
I'm taking this course now and I have a 98% in the class. It is challenging, but he gives you tons of knowledge if you just pay attention. You have to do some outside research and use the SI sessions if you want to get a high grade in the class. Get over the notes not being posted on blackboard- this is college and it does require a little extra.
Adam's class is outrageous. I studied for a WEEK for his exams and still got a 70. He intentionally tries to trick you on tests. When you go to his office, he is not helpful at all. DO NOT TAKE HIM. HE MAY BE SMOKIN..BUT ITS TOTALLY NOT WORTH IT
He really is not that clear, but this isn't rocket science either.....so....it is whatever
Wow, hardest class thus far. It's suppose to be intro but Chupp goes REALLY indepth. His questions are tricky and aren't always from the book. Taking class notes is a must. Unless you love bio, don't expect an A, or even a B. Very difficult! Class average is about 65. Tons of quizzes, too.
Take this class only if you're a good note taker- copying down the powerpoint slides is nowhere near enough. The class is interesting, but take care not to miss any, and synthesize your notes with the diagrams he posts to the website. The weekly quizzes are difficult. No homework, but you should spend a good deal of attention on the class.
Nice guy, but horrible teacher. His notes are all over the place and test information comes out of nowhere. i attended the s.i. sessions and still did not help with his horrible tests. You have to go to class to get notes or else you will be even more lost. Try not to take Chupp!
Adam chupp is not the devil as he is portrayed on this website. His class is not hard at all,i mean you have to study.IT IS COLLEGE AFTERALL.!!!...his tests come straight from the notes. And as far as tricky questions, those are there so you understand concepts NOT MEMORIZE FACTS.!..i think he is a great teacher who has a passion for bio..=)
This professor sucks!!! Do not take him! The tests are very difficult and although the IDEAs come from the notes and test questions are very tricky. I struggled to get my C and if you want to maintain a good GPA find a different professor!!
decent teacher. I really worked hard in his class and took advantage of S.I. sessions. His exams are pretty basic but always have at least 5 questions that you have to understand concepts in order to get right. There was ten quizzes total, 4 exams and he drops two quizzes and one exam. We also have to post 4 "discussion" topics.
horrible. barely responds to emails, generally not helpful with any questions asked, disheveled and doesn't stay on topic, etc. doesn't appear to care about his students or their interests to learn the topics he's trying to teach. tests are hard because his [disorganized] notes only provide the general idea for what his test questions are asking.
Interesting class but difficult to study for. Quizzes and "discussions" are easy points but he only offers 5 pts extra credit per semester. It is tricky to get an A, but with some determined studying and paying attention you should be fine. Tests are not easy but they really aren't as bad as everyone else seems to review them as...
Okay honestly, ppl grow up you guys are in college. Im glad he teaches the way he does. I HATED bio before coming here and taking his class first semester, reading all of the reviews i was scared; however, it is not that bad. Im hoping for an A. He is straight forward, loves what he is teaching, very very helpful when it comes to office hours.
This class has more demands, you need to go to class, I thought that it was going to be really hard, but, his tests are directly off the notes. If you make flash cards off the notes you get A's and B's on all the tests. Its not bad at all. Tests are 40 Questions, final is 40 questions.
Alright, I'm all about growing up and everything but this professor was awful. I worked so hard and still ended up failing. His notes are awesome and definitely on the test, but his questions are completely out of nowhere. His email responses are super slow. Try to go to SI if you still want to try, but if not, get out of there - quick!
A total babe but hard to get an A. Doesn't offer but 5 points of extra credit, however he does drop your two lowest quiz grades and your lowest test grade. his power points are helpful, so GO TO CLASS. i recommend him.
ok so yes he is extremely attractive, now that we've got that out of the way. His class is not easy it takes a good deal of work. Class is not mandatory but if you want to pass you better go. He makes silly jokes and he is slightly spacey but he's a good teacher. You have to work hard in this class but it's not impossible to make an A.
Any help needed outside of classes will not be furthered by Chupp you are much better off dealing with TAs if a further understanding is needed.
Don't even bother buying the book because he never uses it, all the information comes from the notes and you must attend class everyday to get the notes. His tests are a bit tough, you have to study a lot to just pass the class, but make sure you attend the SI sessions because the help A LOT
He is so hottttt. And his lectures are crystal clear. As long as you go to class and take good notes, you'll be fine.
This class is super easy. All you have to do is go to class to take good notes. The powerpoints are super clear and the exams come straight from there.
Adam is no doubt a tough teacher. Unlike most teachers he makes it a requirement to be in class. He does teach everything he tests you on, but requires (at least for some questions) that you actually understand the material and not just memorized it. You must learn some basic biology to pass. He doesn't post his powerpoints go to class is a must.
You have to understand the material. Final is comprehensive and he doesn't post lectures. My class average (200+ students) on all three exams so far is a D. -if that tells you anything. You MUST understand the material before you take the test, not just memorize your notes.
He isn't that great of a teacher. His tests are really hard. BUT HE IS HOT!!!
Expect to put in at least 8 hours a week for the 2 credit lab. And that's just if you hope to pass.
This is Bio 101. It should be easy.. not really with chupp. Go to class, take notes- then make sure they're organized when you get out of class because that's all you've got to study from! Go to SI sessions. Understand concepts. Be prepared for difficult tests.
Chupp was one of those professors who knows his biology really well. His tests were hard as anything just because it felt like the material wasn't fully covered in class. He does post the exams with the correct answers so go write them down for future reference. SI sessions really do help with your personal understanding too.
I'm shocked that so many people said his tests were hard... I completely disagree. They're very straightforward and fair. The lowest score I got on any of them was a 99%. You can tell Prof. Chupp is very passionate about Biology, and he's good at teaching it. The class does require some outside work, but this is college people...
Yea he is pretty attractive which is nice but his class is not an easy A it takes effort on your part. Class is not mandatory but if you want to pass you should go. He can come off as condescending but I don't believe it intentional. He can be spacey and funny also. You have to work for your grade in this class but it's not impossible to make an A.
He was a good teacher, if you enjoy biology. My advisor made me take this class even though I'm a Bio major, so it was really easy for me. Make sure you take notes on what he says not just his powerpoints!
Great guy. Fun to talk to. Not fun to listen to. Not enough practice work, I feel like we only ever test.
He is pretty straight forward on what to study, but you really have to comprehend the material to do well. It isn't a class that you can skip and still do well, but he will meet with you and go over the questions you miss on exams and quizzes. Homework is constant but helps you to learn. As for him, he's funny but sometimes comes off as arrogant.
