he is so dreamy
No Comments
He is alright. But don't expect to argue with his views. He is the type that says things his way and wants you to know it only his way.
He needs to get over himself. Treats students as if they are inferior. Tests are really hard and he gets pleasure out of students dropping the class and from those that struggle. rude
Is more opinionated then anyone cares for.Not very helpful.Never ends class early, will try to keep you past release time if he feels necessary.Tests are fair.Is in love with his twin brother.
guy thinks he knows all and seems to have a negative outlook on life. is not concerned with student needs. look for other options!
He is dull and boring and made it very CLEAR to the class that he was disinterested in knowing us as people and was just doing what he needed to do to get tenure.
If you listen and take notes, you'll do fine. He is a fair teacher. If you're looking for a free ride, you won't get one.
"If you're looking for a free ride, you won't get one." That statement sounds a lot like that teacher who will assume right away that you are trying to get a free ride. Forget the fact that you may be trying your very best, may have kids, other classes, a life, while you are trying to put yourself through school. He does not trust anyone, forget i
motivated me to to my best. love his sense of humor and stories. students who complained about him were failing, students who dont want to work. if you work, this is an easy class that you learn tons from. and his voice is soo niice
HAS VERY BIG EGO always talked about his twin brother & parents who are professors. never helped students with class material. the only way to pass class is to use his notes for the exam. never used book.
this teacher is one of the worst, first he yells at you if you asked questions and tell you that you're not smart enough. the test are from his notes and not very difficult but his personlity is one of the worst teachers in fau. Do not recommended
This teacher is not as hard as people project him to be. In actuality, this class is not hard, and while he may have an ego, the phrases he says are hilarious. His test are the same format throughout the year and the third test will be the hardest. I received a B, and had I study more, which I recommend, it would have been an A.
Dobrin is HILARIOUS. Yes he's full of himself, but that's just his personality. He's pretty smart and knows a lot about the CJ field. Better than any other professor ESPECIALLY for Criminology. Forget Janes or any Boca professors. You HAVE to go to class because the tests are directly from the notes and his notes are somewhat long and VERY detailed
Horrible! worst CJ teacher
I took this professor for, Criminology, Studying Violence and Methods of Research. Earning the grades of B, A- and B respectively. He's one of the best professors i've had, he knows his stuff and keeps the class both entertaining and interesting. Come to class, take notes, and study and you'll do fine. His tests are exactly how he puts it: Tough, but Fair.
He is a super nice guy, and his class is not as hard as everyone says. It's just not for slackers, but methods is supposed to be hard. He was very encouraging and helpful if you took the time to ask.
Professor Dobrin is a tough teacher. You must attend his classes in order to get the notes b/c thats what his tests are based on. His lectures are interesting, its just a lot of material. This is not a class to slack in. If you are prepared you will do fine, just be studious and you may actually enjoy this class.
Not the easiest teacher in the world, but the course won't kill you. The people who complained about him were failing. It is a lot of material. You can't slack in this class. Attendance is very important b/c his lectures are very detailed & they are the basis for his exams. I earned an "A". One of the most efficient teachers I've ever had.
I took Dobrin for studying Violence over the summer and got a B. Nobody had anything nice to say about him, but those were probably the students who didn't come to class. The tests are based on HIS notes. Yes, they are detailed but they are useful! He knows his stuff and gave extra points on all of our tests.
He's a good professor. He doesn't really care about getting to know any of his students. As long as you come to class and take notes on everything he says, you'll do fine. You really don't need the book... and he's a very fair grader.
DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS!!!!!! This guy doesn't care about anybody but himself and his twin brother. I showed up to every class, took notes, read the book and still bombed the class. He thinks that college students are idiots in general and treats everybody as if they are. WARNING: IF YOUR GPA IS ANYTHING SUB 3.0, TAKE SOMEONE ELSE. DOBRIN SUCKS!
DO NOT TAKE HIM! All he does is make fun of students and what they want to become! He thinks he has the only job worth having! And he can miss class for BS reasons but UNLESS YOU DIE OR CLOSE TO IT, ITS UNACCEPTABLE!!! DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!!!!!!
Big bird is an ok professor. There are better teachers that offer this course so if your schedules allows it try to avoid him.He doesnt care about you he only likes to tell his life stories about his brother, his test are a little difficult because they are 1/2 essays and it's alot to remember.Take good notes and MEMORIZE notes and you will be ok.
ok dobrin was an ok teacher when he focused on schoolwork. Was sick of his stories and biased judgemental commments. He claims to be Jewish and his comments about celebrating Christmas were contradictory. He could careless who he offends in class and says he's sick of his taxes being wasted on people who need to go get a job. Not professional!!!!!!
He has potentials of been an okay teacher but his attitudes towards students is horrible. He doesn't care; he considers all students are medicore. He doesn't respect the students or their opinion. I feel he is in the wrong profession...I would not consider taking him for any other classes
I don't recommend anyone to take his class he is very hard and confusing, he'll tell you that the test is from out of your book when it's really on his notes we bought books for nothing, he never went from the book it was all about articles he wrote and by the way he also wrote the textbook, he is very hard and arrogant.
"Opinionated rant" style of lecturing makes the information easy to remember. He won't tell you what to study for his exams, so you have to figure it out for yourself. There are also enormous amounts of reading required. You will get a good grade if you have the time to study for this class, which not everyone does given how much info there is.
Oh my gosh!!!! professor thinks too much of himself. A whole lot of reading (his notes and the text book). No review given so you are on your own to figure out what he is going to test you on. Really makes you think hard. Test formats are like MSW test. Prepare to work hard. If you dont want to work hard this is not the professor for you.
He is not as bad as everyone says. Yes, he is hard but as long as you go to class, take good notes and study those notes you will be fine. HIs tests were multiple choice & short answers-again study your notes. He is very honest & straight forward, a good teacher, intelligent prof. and knows it so comes of cocky & thats what most do not like.
Dr. Dobrin is an excellent teacher. His notes and lectures are easy to follow and very interesting. Yes he is a bit arrogant, but he doesn't really let affect his quality of teaching. He is challenging, and I believe most people go in expecting an easy A; you actually have to work for. I have enjoyed all three classes with Dr. Dobrin.
this guy is a pussycat. he is all bark and no bite. if you do what he tells you, it's an easy "b". an A is hard, but not impossible
Tough and thorough, and tells you from day 1 what he expects. He hates lazy students, that is obvious. I like his style, a professor, not a part time hack.
You guys are kidding! I had this teacher for 3 classes and got a's in all of them. I transferred to FAU from a real college and this is the only real professor they have.
Hilarious!
Blabkboard class is the best! worried about test, tho
Ridiculously difficult. Online tests only give you 1 hour and 1 chance. You honestly scramble for every second of that hour to find the answers. One week of notes is 13 pages dreading the midterm. He is so arrogant and sometimes refuses to answer students questions or gives a sarcastic mean response. NEVER AGAIN
Dont take the internet class. Each homework assignment online is strenuous. You only get one chance at the test and its time limited. You need a study buddy @ your house. We take one test at a time and we both look up the answers together to better our chances of finding the answer. Class notes are stupid long.
OUCH 50-60 page notes (Not condensed or bulleted practically a book.) in a chapter plus book, no review for test. No hint towards test. 150 question midterm. May drop this class is not worth the headache, others teach this class too.
homeworks are a breeze, I have 24's and 25's on all of them read the chapter first. test was long tho
ha ha ha! This guy is all bark and no bite. The test was easy, who cares it was long? I hear IRCC has a 4 year degree, maybe you should go back to community college!
internet class means not having to go to class, but I just miss his voice!
10 POINTS!! THANK YOU, MY CLASSMATES FOR BEING LAZY!!!
He just 'wrote' me a great letter of rec. +1 from me.
If you care about your GPA don't take him. His test are ridiculously hard (half multiple choice/ half short essay).
loved going to trial, easy A 10 points on etst really helped
love the stats he gave us!
Easiest paper evar! 98 just to watch a trial
Hard class. If you don't like to read 16 chapters and then have a test with no study guide (multiple choice and short answer) do not take him! He is arrogent and doesnt seem to care about his students. The quizzes on each ch. were ok but it sometimes marks you wrong when you are right but he says its not his problem. Oh and he contradicts the book.
I failed both tests but still got a C. the easy homework and paper were a lifesaver! When I take him again, I will def. study the notes more. He's a fun teacher, and really knows the topic.
This guy is passionate dont confuse that with arrogant. he really gets into the lecture, I cant wait to take more of his classes! The trick is to study the notes backwords and forwards.
You have to keep up with his notes. I didnt and will be taking it again next semester! He posted all the grades, and there were a few a's and a lot of b's. but a lot of d's and f's too!
Good dude.
he didn't show up for the test because he had to speak to congress in dc. jerk.
He's knowledgeable, but extremely arrogant and condescending. Test are hard as well. I would not recommend him.
. Once he made fun of students who where crosses says: "You are just wearing a symbol of a form of execution around your neck". Perhaps atheists where nothing around their neck b/c they believe we came from nothing and have no purpose.
He really helped me out of a jam. When things got tough, he was very very helpful and understanding.
The most detailed syllabus ever. Easy homework. Free points on exam. Knows the topic. Makes us know his citations in the textbook, ha!
Ride along was fun, paper was easy.
This is the worst criminology professor I have had. I manage to ace every other criminology class except his. He is extremely arrogant, condescending, and insulting. He has 200 question exams straight from the book on 6+ chapters at a time. I pay him to not teach. I can read the book on my own time for free. Take this class if you want to FAIL !!!!
His lectures are very intersting, and he is the only professor I have who doesnt just read from the book.
I'm so glad he won teacher of the year at Macauthor campus. He really took an interest in my future and inspired me to continue my education.
As a returning or 'non-traditional' student, I appreciate Dr. Dobrin a lot. He, more than any other of my CCJ professors, has his act together. And he does not try to push a political agenda like the rest. I respect him and recommend him to any serious student.
He's knowledgeable, but extremely arrogant. Even with an A on his paper and some quizes I still got a D. There were very few As. Most of the grades were Cs,Ds, and Fs! Exams are very difficult and long.I would not recommend him!!!!!I took CJS and Criminology!
Funny guy, not a cookie cutter boring teacher like so many. And our text books cited him, he's a top researcher, so he knows his stuff.
I made my whole schedul around taking his classes this fall, and now he's gone? i was really looking forward to those classes too, he is a great prof! i hope he comes back!!!
Very helpful with issues I had with the research paper. Really seems to care if students learn.
I actually liked the professor, just not the class. Only 2 tests on a ridiculous amount of notes. Any of it and most of it will be on the test. Quizzes online come from a horrible textbook author with errors. I managed a decent grade but it was stressful.
Follow the rules in the really long syllabus, he does not bend on those! Funny guy, knows his stuff and likes it, so it shows.
Why does he do so much online? I want to go to his class and hear his stories and jokes :)!!!You can tell he loves teaching!!
Easy class if you follow his very clear rules. he is straighforward and fair.
His online notes make this by far the best distance learning class Ive ever taken. He really explains the ideas, like he is writing his thoughts. And the discussions help. Open book test was hard, though. But he told us it would be.
He likes Methods and shares the passion with us. gives a good amount of work, but it is not really hard.
DO NOT TAKE ONLINE!!!! Seems like a good professor if you go into his class but his online class is crazy! His midterm and final test are over 160 questions each with NO REVIEW. Also gives plenty of work in between. DO NOT TAKE THIS HIM!!! RUN!!!!
This was the best online course I ever took! I actually want to learn about the topic, not just get a drone who reads from the book, though. He really livens up the notes, more than any other online course I've had, and this is my 4th one.Plus, he really has helped me think about my plans after I finish my BA.
Good teacher, dull topic, but he makes it bearable.
He responds faster to emails and posts faster than any teacher I've ever had.
Took cj technology online with him. One of the most straight forward professors i have ever had. Very clear on syllabus and on assignments. Your entire grade will consist of weekly open book quizzes (still very hard but its open book) and 5 very cool assignments spread throughout the semester. Take online class with him!
Took Dobrin online, and found him to be more of a moderator than instructor. Pretty much read the book take test, that's the learning process. Tells you how to complete the various assignments, but besides that there isn't too much interaction. His syllabus is very comprehensive, read it. Relatively easy A if you're willing to diligently read.
Online class is kinda of hard. The assignments (2 quizzes per chapter, usually per week) are REALLY EASY. So easy you'll laugh. The final and midterm are IMPOSSIBLE. I failed both. The paper is hard and a lot of work, but I did my best and got a good grade so I passed the class. I would take it again if i HAD TO, bought i WORKED HARD for my B
This was an online class, so there wasn't much "teaching". Dr. Dobrin seems knowledgeable but comes across as very rude, arrogant, and cynical to students. I wouldn't advise taking a class with him.
Professor Dorbin went out of his way to help me with a technical issue during the exam. He didn't have to, I made a small mistake misreading something in blackboard, but he was very understanding and helpful.
Sylalbus and video scared me, he wants to seem like a big meany, but he softens up during the semester and gave us 10 points on teh midterm, so my C became a B real fast.
Tons of material, but his notes are very easy to read and written like he is reading them, not like a book. Test was long, but not too hard, and he gave 10 extra credit points to everyone, so
If you are taking this class online then RUN!!!! This class has made me hate my major. There are 2 quizzes for each chapter which are easy. But the midterm and final are IMPOSSIBLE. 2.5 hours to do 160 questions with no review. Half the stuff on the midterm wasn't even in his lecture notes (which are very hard to read, a lot of grammatical errors)
His lecture notes were easy to read and understand. I wish most of the assignments were based on his notes. Most assignments though are based off of the text and can be extremely hard if not read thoroughly. Do not take this class if you do not have time to read about 3 ch a week then follow with 3-6 chapter quizzes 25q each.15-25 pages a chapter
This is the best online course I have ever taken. His notes read like he is talking to the class, they are not dry at all. And he really explains the theories well, with great examples and a few lame jokes.
He spent all day on a sunday going back and forth with me on email to explain a difficult concept. I've nevere had a professor do that before, especially on a Sunday.
I had multiple problems with Blackboard, and he was very understanding and accomodating.Blackboard has lots of problems, but Dorbin did a lot to take care of those problems.
One of the worst online teachers I have ever had. Acted more as a moderator then "teacher". Provides you tons of material but does not assist in helping you understand or learn. Feels it is a students responsibility to decide what is important to learn.
One of the best professors I've ever had. Really went out of his way to make sure I understood the material, and really helped out during a family emergency.
Okay so, first off he is rude. He will not make it a requirement for you to discuss on the discussion boards but then use some of the info from those boards on the Midterm and the final, which are both like 150 questions and you have 2hours to do them. He gives no extra credit but he does give "gift points". DO NOT take him online.
There are professors who actually care about their students, this guy doesn't! He is rude, and always has a smart response. This is an unergrad. class and he makes you feel stupid half of the time. He is not helpful and truly full of himself. Yes, responds to email, but always in a very cynical way. Take him if you have nothing else to do.
Excellent teacher. funny, friendly. Brought in great lectureres. I am changing my future plans because of Dobrin and his classes. No other professor at FAU has been nearly as helpful.
Very bad professor!!! Like someone said before he is very sarcastic and always talks down to the students.
Rare professor who treats us like adults. I am recently out of the military, and I don't understand how anyone can say he is hard or sarcatstic. he is honest and straightforward.
I was scared to take dobrin, but I think my friends were hazing. Dorbin really was kind and understanding during a family crises. and the class is really cool too, very 'real world' projects that teach really useful skills.
Very nice and understanding. Clearly explains what he expects, if you just follow the directions and rules, easy. Very interesting, helped me focus on my future A LOT!!!
Please DO NOT take him. The instructions in one of his assignments literally said figure it out yourself, I am not going to tell you. I thought that's was they were hired to do, teach us. Literally gave me a 9.9/10 on an assignment when every ther assignment was either whole numbers or .5 incriments. Run away!
Very clear directions, treated us like adults not children. Learned a lot, had fun, had to work some, but not too hard.
Learned more useful material in this one class than in all my other college classes combined. Charming professor, has a lot of experience, you will learn useful skills, not hard or overworked.
Even online could tell he was passionate about teaching this, make sure to study notes and folow directions. Pretty clear. Very nice, goofy jokes though.
Very clear in depth syllabus. No question what this guy wants, I wish all teachers would be as clear. Give free points, and an easy quiz on the sylalbus. But does not seem like he will allow any excuses.
Pretends to be mean on the first day, but is very kind and helpful. Clearly loves teaching and the subject, and wants us to too.
Nice. Knows his stuff and wants you to, too. Fair.
I graduated last year. Finally realizing Dr Dobrin was the best professor I had. His rules mirror the real world I now see. Late doesnt count and following directions really does matter.
Comes across as strict and not caring, but when I had questions he really took ttime to make sure I understood. So far learning interesting stuff, but don't turn in anying late, he won't even think about taking it.
Really cool projects, prof was very helpful, but dont ask about something covered in the syllabus!
Don't ask questions that are already covered in syllabus. READ and UNDERSTAND syllabus carefully. He won't answer if it's covered. To some students he seemed sarcastic and come off as mean at time he embarrassed them. You sign a contract stating that you understand the syllabus. Not that bad but can be a little confusing.
He is very sarcastic but the class is worth while. You have to work for your grade you get what you put in which I think is fair, after all it is a college.
Class taken fully online. Professor Dobrin was much better this time around. A lot more helpful with questions. Quick response with email and more concerned about if you understand the material. There was tons of work, 15 quizzes( 45-55 questions each), 3 exams (webcam needed for exams only, no open book), 1 research paper. not as bad as it sounds.
I hated this teacher & his Multiple choice quizzes! they were soo many of them like 20 questions each week, sometimes 2 chapters in a week (40 Q's!) and some of them were soo hard like "what does the author of this chapter do?" like seriously?! MAKE SURE u email out your class and form a group to take his quizzes together, theonlywaytopass thisclass
I enjoyed his class. Ride Along assignment was fun. 798 questions (15 quizzes) 45-57 questions each. Essay, 2 exams . Using Respondus (monitored with webcam) and Lockdown browser (cannot access internet while doing exam. Syllabus looks more intimidating than it is. very doable. A lot of work. Professor has better attitude than before. Cool person
Very helpful, understanding. Firm rules, but that is very useful, no surprises, everything is upfront.
Carefully read his syllabus and refer to it before asking him questions. Online quizzes every week based on textbook chapters and exams based only on in class lectures. Lectures are not scripted so you have to write what you think is important which is a lot of what he says. Exams were fair and you could manage a decent grade with good notes!
Even though I didnt do as well as I had hoped, dobrin was helpful and great in the class
2 Exams worth 60 percent, 14 quizzes worth 40 percent of your grade. He gives you no reviews also no powerpoints. Stay far away from this class.
Rudest professor at FAU. He seems to hate what he does. He is very confusing on explaining the material, and makes it too hard to understand. Run away!
First day was really mean and strict, but it's an act, he just want to be clear. He's funnu and really helped me understand something during office hours
He might come off like a jerk at first, but honestly as long as you treat him with respect he will treat you with respect. He is very specific with his syllabus and he has a midterm and final based ONLY on his lectures, and they are worth 50% of your grade. The other 50% is based on Learnsmart activities online- super easy but a bit time consuming.
Very interesting teacher loved his lectures he is very big on attendance so show up always. The textbook that accompanies the course is pretty confusing though and so are the quizzes you have to complete every week that are based just on the text and not on lecture.
I would understand if the course was the regular length. But if you are going to make it mandatory to basically force feed myself the material in a small amount of time. SOMETHING would be nice
You have to buy a connect code for the book. An essay assignment is due the first week. A discussion, quiz and learmart is due every week. He asked alot of us in the discussions, he would ask 4 questions but he would ask other questions within those 4 questions so it came out to be 10+. Easy class, just very tedious and he asks alot from you.
His online course is very tedious. Each week there's a quiz, a lesson, and a discussion assignment due. You cannot work on them in advance nor can you work on them after the deadline. You have to stay on top of your assignments to pass. No extra credit given. You need the book to pass
His exams are based off his lectures and book, so make sure you attend class and read what you're supposed to and you'll do fine. He comes off kind of rude, but he's a great professor if you show him respect. If you're not willing to work for your grade, or show respect, don't take him. Learned a lot of real-life applicable stuff in his class!
Exams are from his lectures so obviously you cant skip classes if you want to do well. Pretty straightforward. Seems like a lot of online homework but its really not (its actually quite easy). I wish there wasnt a term paper involved but its not the worst thing ever. Basically just go to class, pay attention, take notes and youll do well.
This class ran off of connect with 3 assignments plus a quiz each but ALSO a "project" (busy work) to go along with each week. The directions for these project were never clear and you basically had to guess on the internet and hope and pray you received a decent grade from the TA and even then the professor may come and change it !
I loved his class! He's really nice and is there for students with whatever they need help with! There are only two exams - midterm and final. They are mostly based on his lectures, so take copious notes and attend all the classes. Also, the weekly online assignments and quizzes were very helpful in understanding the lessons. I learn so much!
After reading reviews on here I was scared to take his class. Glad I took it though. He's an amazing professor. Read syllabus before asking questions. He responds quickly. 3 assignments each week. His quizzes are based off his videos. His videos are extremely helpful. He's smart and knows what he's talking about. I would take him again.
Incredibly knowledgeable and smart, a practitioner within the field and has been published many times. You will learn from him, having said that... he is extremely condescending and sometimes is a bit sarcastic. He is intellectual and gets frustrated if you are not on the same level as him, he expects a lot from you but seldom gives feedback.
He loves participation in online discussions. As long as you do the assignments on time youll get an A. He responds to emails quickly. Not a hard class. All the answers to the assignments are in the book and in the learning objectives.
He sucks tbh. He wont let you ask other students for HELP (he considered it cheating) hell call you out for other students to see, rude, unprofessional, and a horrible source of help or guidance. Dont take.
Worse professor I have taken at FAU. This is a graduate course and out of all the professors I've had he is the worse one! There are 2 tests throughout the course--midterm and final and are worth 50% of your grade. He also has quizzes but is worth 1-2% and a research paper. The exams are taken in respondus lockdown w/ webcam. WORSE CLASS EVER!!!
Grades off of his views. If you dont see eye to eye with him, youre basically wrong. Has due dates but apparently takes points off if you dont do the assignment two or so days ahead of actual due date. So why put it there?
Took this over summer semester. Interesting teacher; definitely loves to talk about himself every chance possible. Fair grading. Lots of assignments for each module. Heavy on the discussion boards & he expects ongoing participation or your grade will suffer. Each module had a test. There was also a paper assignment worth 13% of your final grade.
A decent professor, however, he's not a bad teacher by any means. He expects you to go over the minimum for all of his assignments or else you get a C (Ex: If he writes that the minimum is 300 words, you should go over the minimum for a better grade). He's not hard to pass. Don't be lazy and just do your work and you'll get a passing grade.
This class was not an easy A but it was not terrible either. The professor does give an assignment weekly whether it be a creative assignment or a quiz and discussion. He graded on the harder side, but if you put in the work, you will do just fine.
I did more than everything he asks for but he is rude. He said I was incorrect and that making up information is not acceptable in the criminal justice field. I would like to say I never made anything up, I simply added my opinion, which you should regard with taking him. State his lectures only. Don't say I didn't warn you.
About 27 assignments a week (this was a summer class). Chapter quizzes, discussion posts (2 in 1), small chapter assignments, unit exams, and critical thinking assignments weekly. Also a paper due (different options on what the paper is about, I got to do a ride along with an officer and write about it). Not a hard class just all busy work.
Be ready to sit in a class just staring at him while he talks looking at a wall. He doesn't have any PowerPoints or lecture notes posted for students to reflect on to study. Everything is solely based on his lectures and nothing from the connect assignments. He is strict and expects participation. Attendance is grade. Overall, the class is easy.
I was scared at first but he is actually very chill. Just do exactly what he asks. Like exactly....and you get an A. Have taken him twice now. Got an A both times. If he thinks you're not taking it seriously he will grade you pretty hard and leave a very in depth comment.
Unclear, he puts very little effort into his online class. Zero explanation, just assigns reading and some outdated youtube videos. His quizzes are hyper-specific typically quizzing on useless info. The syllabus quiz showed just how self-obsessed he is. I have never written a review on a professor before, but for Adam Dobrin, I feel like a have to.
Zero feedback but never gives 100%, rude, weirdly condescending syllabus
Mr. Dobrin does not give any feedback on assignments. When doing his assignments/discussions make sure to do more work than he asks for; if you do what is asked (what he likes to call the minimum amount of work) you will receive a C. VERY RUDE when talking to students as well. AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Enough can't be said with only 350 characters.
Super strict, hard headed, and unreasonable. You can't turn things in even a minute late, he is horrible at replying to emails, and is super condescending regarding any questions/issues you may have. If you don't do better than expected it's points off and he makes 0 exceptions. Camera lockdown. Do not take him unless it's a last resort.
Dr. Dobrin is great class is very easy. 3 assignments per week that are not hard. No midterm or final. However, be careful with your wording on written assignments he gets very offended if you don't necessarily say something right. I don't wanna say he gets offended if you don't agree with his views but it kinda seems that way. Otherwise easy class
Class work itself is overall easy and it's the same thing every week. However, he is extremely rude, disrespectful and condescending to his students. God forbid you have something happen in your personal life and need an extension - you're not getting one. Very hard headed and will grade very tough on how you answer questions.
I've never made a review on a professor before but after taking Dobrin, I had to. The assignments are fairly simple overall but the professor is very rude and passive aggressive when giving very minimal feedback. He just grades the discussion posts without explaining why you got the grade that you did. I will not take him again if I can help it lol
The professor has a specific teaching style, but if you engage with it, you can do well. Using unstuck ai and other study tools like ChatGPT can help with prep. Just don't slack off - put in the work and you'll get a good grade.
He is a terrible teacher and apparently doubles down because he is from a family of terrible teachers
I feel I was deprived of a proper education in this course. The professor frequently used unreliable data, taught from personal political bias rather than evidence, and made inappropriate comments regarding race and religion, which negatively affected the learning environment. I believe this course lacked authenticity due to the professors views.
