There were only three graded test. There were several small ungraded quizzes and the questions on these quizzes were the questions to the test. We went over the answers to the quizzes and these could easily be used as a study tool.
Easy Grader and actually cares about the students and how certain projects would impact them. Wonderful teacher
Class is only 50 minutes long, and most of the time we didn't even use all of it. He's super laid back, but beware as he takes attendance every day. Each day is worth 2 points, so it won't kill you to not show up a couple of days, but it could mean the difference between grade letters.
Wonderful teacher, very understanding. Would 100% take a class from him again. Show up to class with open ears and you not only will pass, but will retain information. One of the best things is that in this class you don't have to memorize dates and names, mostly reasons and "why did this happen" type questions.
I took a history class with him and was not disappointed! He explains things with humor sometimes which makes it easy to remember topics. He also brings in so many real-world and modern topics which is cool. His class is laid back and the tests are very straightforward, he is a pretty easy grader. Although it's an easy class, I did learn a lot.
He's mainly focused on you actually learning the material, I never personally did much of the reading but did listen and participate in class and received an A. Just show up and participate on in-class discussion and you will be able to get an A. He does grade attendance so thats a pretty important part as well.
Mr. Gish teaches his class very well. You show up, listen, and do the minimal homework and you'll pass. Although that doesn't mean you're not getting a quality education. The way he teaches is simplistic, gets to the point, and teaches you very well. He always is on track and the class is chill, relaxed, and informative.
I started PSEO this year (a junior) and took Gish for my World History to 1500 class. He is an amazing teacher. He helps out the students as much as possible. You have three take home exams and he goes over each answer in class. Dont be afraid to ask questions! Hell help you as much as he can. One of the best professors ive had this year!
Signed up for this class expecting to not like it because history wasn't ever my strong suit. Turned out to be my favorite class. He made history fun and digestible ( i acctually REMEMBER things now) class environment was really geat, and i enjoyed every single second in that course.
I've always enjoyed history & Adam did not disappoint. He gives you every opportunity to succeed with the three take-home exams & final project. Just bring the exam with you to class & fill out the answers as you go. He was very nice & had a great, quirky sense of humor. Everyone in the class was engaged and having fun. Take Adam Gish!
This was my second class with Gish and he is SUCH a great teacher. He is willing to help you out as much as possible. He gives amazing feedback and DONT be afraid to ask questions. As long as you do your homework and pay attention in class youll do just fine. I would definitely recommend taking Gish! He is a hard-working teacher willing to help!
I loved taking Prof. Gishs history class! Ive always loved history but very few teachers are actually able to make it an enjoyable experience. I highly recommend taking this class. There is homework but as long as youre paying attention and reading its all a breeze. 10/10 would totally take again.
If I could have him as a teacher for all my classes, I would! He is one of the best history teacher. His class is organized well and as long as you do the work an easy A is achievable. He is easy to get ahold of as well for help needed. His class is actually really fun! Highly recommend him!
He doesn't push his agenda like many proofs and really cares about connecting with his students and teaching in a way they can understand and even find enjoyable. Not many professors do, but Mr. Gish made it to my list of super amazing profs!
Professor Gish was a phenomenal professor. His class was challenging but not so much to where I had to stress. I had a lot of fun this semester and I would definitely suggest him as your teacher. Great class and an awesome educator!
Everything a breeze with him lol
He's got a great sense of humor and is not afraid to let it show via movie and show references, which to me makes me feel a lot more comfortable to interact with. Heavy (ish) on reading but not to the point of consistently needing your book in your lap. I don't recommend buying the online version of the text book though, so def try to rent it.
Currently have an A in the class with the Final Exam still to come, it was a good learned lots about MN history. With all the online learning, it was very easy to know when assignments were due and that's what I needed.
If you read the given material and listen to every lecture (which isn't that long) then have no fear. Very straightforward class.
I really enjoyed this class. Tests are open book and you can work on them as you do chapter homework. Class is laid out nice for when assignments are due. Teacher works with you on what you want for final project. Awesome teacher.
An amazing professor, I enjoyed his lectures a lot because they were interested and engaging. He also did activities in class to help us understand the material more. When we switched to online, he made it very smooth and easy.
He was really good about explaining what he expects on the quizzes and exams. He had a lot of class participation when it came to going over quizzes and made the class easy to remember and understand. He seemed like a genuinely kind person. 10/10 would recommend.
He was very easy to reach outside of class. The class wasnt stressful at all. He was very clear when things are due and updates every week saying what is due for the week. You could easily work ahead and he was very easy going. I loved this professed 10/10 would recommend to everyone!
I have always loved American history, & the class I took with professor Gish, American government really helped me understand the history behind our government system. Professor Gish is a great conversationalist & goes into depth about topic & explains it it just enough detail were it is not overwhelming but satisfies your need of understanding.
I was eager to learn about Minnesota since I have only been here for 3 years so far. Mr. Gish was always giving us feedback that encouraged us in many ways. I ended passing with a 100% in the course! He made sure that things were clarified and always gave us his support! Most definitely one of the most awesome history professors!
Professor Gish was amazing. He is a great teacher! Every week he said what was due and he gave you a reasonable time to complete it. He replies to emails very fast which is helpful when you have questions. I would recommend him to everyone!
One of my favorite Professors. Entertaining and helpful. Engaged in what students are saying.
Professor Gish is one of my favorite professors I've ever had. He gives out everything you need for the course at the beginning. Has great lectures that keeps you awake at all times, I would definitely suggest taking his classes!
This class was super easy as long as you listen to the lectures and do the readings. The professor responds to emails and comments that you make on your homework submissions. I enjoyed the audio lectures and how we are given all the material at the beginning of the semester.
Professor Gish is terrific. He replies fast to any emails or questions. He provides feedback whenever necessary. He is concise and straightforward with any assignment instructions you have. I wish I had him teach every class of mine. He's an easy grader and provides the entire class schedule (with due dates) on the first day of class. So helpful!
Fantastic course he gives good information and feedback. AND He has a good sense of humor:)
Seriously a great professor! I'm taking all online classes. He made them entertaining, while I learned more than I had in any other class this semester. Would definitely take another of his classes!
The exams for this class were designed to make you think more critically. There was not a bunch of assignments for the week, but the ones that were there helped you to stay on track and expand your understanding of the weeks main topics. 10/10 would take a class with Gish again!
This dude Pretty freaking dope.
This class was great. All of the work and due dates were available online, and all of the lectures were captivating. The class is very easy if you just follow his instructions every week. Although the class was online, Professor Gish has been my favorite history teacher I've had. He's relatable, laid-back, and has a good sense of humor. Great class
Easy class with simple to follow instruction. Lacked depth but I'm sure that's less evident when it's not online only. His audio lectures are really top notch content wise, audio quality could be a lot better though. (Adam if you read this, Blue Snowball mics are 50 bucks, just sayin.)
This is a great class there is quite a bit of homework but as long as you answer all questions thoroughly you will receive an A. I would recommend this professor as he gives good feedback and is very accessible out of class.
He was a great teacher. Definitely cared about history. He cared more about his class understanding the concepts, than remembering a bunch of dates and names. I would take him again in a heartbeat. You can get an A in his class without a textbook easy.
Best experience I've ever had with a professor. Easy going and very flexible. I learned a lot and got to talk about things happening in the world today.
Professor Gish is one of my favorite teachers I've ever had! He has clear expectations of what he wants and if you do that you should have no problem. I'd highly recommend!
Professor Gish was truly a great professor to me. I took this class as a senior on the verge of graduating and found it to be very enjoyable and very easy (I am however a history major myself and honestly probably could teach this class). Still regardless of my history knowledge I still found myself learning at least one new thing daily!
He answers very quickly. He gives good feedback. Class isn't difficult, very easy to pass as long as you keep up on assignments. Very interesting.
Hands down, he's the best professor, I ever had for the semester. The assignments were fun and interesting to learn about. Side note, quite a handsome professor. Would absolutely take a course with him being my professor again. You can't go wrong with him, he makes the class interesting and fun even though it's online. Thank you!
I found Professor Gish to be insightful as he taught us the information we needed to learn for this class! He is understanding, flexible, feedback driven when it comes to your writing style. Be ready to write as this class is a writing intensive course and give solid arguments to your points while writing and he will award you a 100% on coursework.
First off this guy is awesome. As long as you put the work in you will do good. Participation does not matter but he definitely likes to engage with students. He recommends a text book but I never used it once. He is very clear on expectations and what will be on tests. Rarely does he do pop quizzes. 10/10 take him for any class. He is a great guy
If you read and answer the discussion prompts and the short answer questions fully, you'll get an A.
I loved this class, and I knew I would the moment I saw a sherlock gif in the first announcement. The dude's funny and gives a handful of super fun and thought-provoking writing assignments. Definitely one of the best history classes I've had in years.
Professor Gish is everything you'd look for in a history professor. He is not focused on memorization of specific dates. He wants you to understand what happened in history and why. If you email him he will get back to you usually within an hour or so, over he is awesome and I can't sing his praises enough. I wish more professors were like him!
The timing of when assignments were given and then due was very different than what I was used to. Work was due on a Thursday or Tuesday and new work opened up shortly after Thursday. I liked the class there was never too much work at all and always plenty of time given to complete all work. Professor Gish is great to reach out to for help as well!
Professpr Gish is very easy to get along with. He is good about answering questions, and replies to all discussion posts with meaningful, and sometimes funny, feedback. His lectures are easy to follow, however, sometimes he does not mention everything that will be on the exam/quiz.
AMAZING. I had Professor Gish Last semester, and loved him so much i took another one of his courses this semester. loved him both semesters. easy grader, weekly assignments, and open note/easy/few tests. gives you plenty of time to complete all assignments. and is very clear on when things are due.
Great professor! Always willing to help, responds in a timely manner, gives good feedback. He doesn't just throw stuff at you and run away.
The class is very informative and he's very knowledgeable, the subject matter and things discussed are very interesting. He's also a really great grader, basically if you do the assignment on time and meet the requirements you get full credit. However, do not expect him to be friendly when asking to turn something in late or accepting late work.
Professor Gish presented a very accepting and inviting atmosphere to his class. I liked his teaching style and the fact that he showed history from all aspects of the world. He wasn't too tough on grading but in his online courses he does have due dates somewhat early in the week. Overall, I would definitely recommend him and his class.
Very organized
Professor Gish is a very understanding, and knowledgable professor. The workload was very diverse and consisted of a few essays, weekly discussions, a final project, etc. To succeed you should read the book, listen to his lectures, and read all primary documents. Great class, and awesome professor!
Great professor, very interesting lectures and makes topics easy to understand without watering down the content.
The lectures were short but very educational, he never went over the designated class period which I greatly appreciated. I would recommend this teacher to anyone.
He is one of the most nicest professors that I have ever met in my life. He is a very understanding person and he should be able to teach this class again.
Best professional hands down! You certainly have to read the textbooks to complete the exam questions, but that's fine. The class is easy to pass, as long as you do your assignments.
Gish gives you all of the resources you need to pass the class. Exams were relatively easy if you have all of the resources. Light on work. Some weeks no homework other than reading. I few papers but no longer then 2 pages. Would take again!
I'm not sure how to put this in words, but I highly recommend this professor. No one is really a fan of online lectures, but he knew how to make them a lot more enjoyable and interesting. He taught me a whole part of American history I never got to learn in high school. 10/10 would take his class again just to learn more.
He's really great! He was really understanding when I wasn't able to make the assignments by the due date, and was very helpful overall. Thank you!
Professor Gish is a great guy who knows how to make me smile which is hard to do when I went to school in the past.
Great professor who wants all of his students to succeed!
I have taken three history classes with this professor, which have been very informative. He really knows his stuff, uses great resources for us students to look at, and communicates well. The workload is bearable, and his class has a great routine. You will never feel like you were surprised with a pop quiz or anything.
He's really relaxed is happy to help if you have questions or need more time on something just ask. Ofcourse still put in the work or you'll fall behind. He's great :)
The classes are mainly lectures from a slideshow that you have access to in d2l. There are open note quizzes that do not count towards your grade, but it is very helpful for the tests. Attendance is graded and you have to check off a sheet in class. If you miss a class it will only take away 1% of your grade. There are 10 discussion posts total.
Honestly a great professor, I would love to have him again.
He is a good teacher if you do what you are told and do all the assignments.
I took his class for government. he was very clear in the first day of the semester on everything he was going to teach us and how things were graded. would definitely recommend him.
easy course
Mr. Gish is a very funny and smart professor. This was a super easy class and an easy A. show up to class and take notes because you can use them on the quiz, and the quizes are usually the same as the test.
He is such a cool teacher, a super easy grader, and very honest. He literally told us on the first day that while you are supposed to read the textbook, you can easily get by without it (don't buy the textbook). We did have one group project, but they were like 10 mins tops of work. He's also just a cool guy in general.
History and government are not my strong subjects, but his way of teaching is clear and emphatic, so I was able to understand the lectures. Very easy grader, but make sure to attend lectures because it is graded.
He was a great teacher, and I learned a ton of new information from his class. I could tell he loved teaching about comic books.
Amazing Professor and this class was very easy. Attendance is worth 40% of your grade. We had quizzes that weren't graded but it was the same as the actual exam.
Great relaxed class to take online, The class allowed you plenty of time to do the assignments he understands what it means to be busy with other classes or work outside of the class. He also made certain in my class at least that all of the assignments went up to 100 points total.
Pretty intro level stuff about the government. Show up to class and do your homework and it should all work out for you. Adam's pretty nice as well. Stress free class that's for sure.
Very fun and easy class. 3 exams worth a third of the grade, discussions and attendance make up the rest. Didn't take notes and only watched lectures and got an A. Definetly an easy class if you pay attention.
Adam gives very clear instructions and grades papers in a timely manner.
If you see this mans name as the professor for a class, take it asap. I took HIST 180 online and he was very fair when grading. Class has a lot of reading but if you just do the assignments you will get an A. He wants you to succeed and will help you catch up if you get behind. 10/10 would recommend.
Professor Gish was always clear on explaining things. He was very helpful and was just an email away. His comments on assignments were always nice to read. Such a fun professor and would highly recommend!
The second class I had with him, the class is setup for you to succeed. As long as you show up to every class you should be good.
I really like the teacher; he's awesome. He knows the subject really well and his classes are super engaging.
He is a very laid back teacher. He is very understanding when you ask him for extended time. He also made history tolerable considering I am not a fan of it.
He was an amazing teacher. I personally don't like History very much and he made it actually seem interesting. He definitely knows what he is teaching about. I would highly recommend!
Adam Gish is the BESTTT!! He is so thoughtful and will give you extra time on assignments, but he is still a reasonable grader and won't take bs.
He is super laid back and his lectures are actually interesting and you can tell he cares about what he teaches. Attendance does make up a decent part of your grade so just go to class. He's really understanding with late work but don't turn stuff in late every week. Do the study guides and the test will be a breeze.
He's a great teacher, you can tell he enjoys what he teaches. He does take points for participation so be aware of that. The homework is easy and he's an easy grader. His study guides are pretty much the same as the test so make sure you complete those. Overall as long as you attend class and complete all the homework and tests you'll do great.
Amazing
The lectures were given off of a powerpoint presentation (that was available to us on the D2L website if we needed to go back) and were ready out loud to us with more information included. When he would tell us about a certain war or battle, he would illustrate the information like it were a story, to help us better imagine the situation.
I'm pretty sure that each professor has to take turns teaching the mandatory "College Success Strategies" course for incoming freshman and I happened to be lucky enough to have Mr. Gish. The course itself is already easy and straightforward but he made it tolerable with little antidotes to make us smile when learning mundane subjects!
What can I say? Prof. Gish taught class with lectures and PowerPoints. Overall the tests were straightforward and all info on them was taught in class. There were some group projects but they weren't graded very harsh and were overall pretty fun. If you try you'll get an A.
I took HIST1617 online, and I passed the course with an A. The course criteria is not difficult at all, just discussion questions due each week with responses. Professor Gish gives very polite and respectful feedback, even if you do not have anything wrong on assignments, will still provide feedback to be friendly!
He is the nicest and most understanding professor ever. I had him in person and his quizzes you would take with a friend, then tests were by yourself no notes (but they were the exact same as the quizzes). Literally just put in some effort and you will be just fine.
Mr. Gish is a great professor. This class is mostly taught thru lectures but there are a few group projects throughout the semester. The projects are graded for participation which helps relieves the stress of having to get it done. Exams and quizzes cover the course material and are generally pretty easy. I recommend taking this class.
The class is very easy and Mr Gish cares about everyone. It is a lot of taking notes and then quizzing on them. For my class, the quizzes were open notes, and he then gave you the answers to the quiz. So you basically just had to show up on quiz days. The exam questions were the same exact ones as the quiz but you could not use your notes
A really awesome teacher not stuck in the old ways of teaching, and understand how the real world works today!
Mr. Gish is one of the best teachers I've had at RCTC. He is very funny and down to earth. Classes were lecture-based with a few group assignments/presentations (optional by yourself) to include variety amongst all of the lectures. Attendance is mandatory, as long as you do not miss more than 16 classes you're fine. Easy class! 5 quizzes & 3 exams.
Adam was an amazing professor. His class wasn't hard at all. Each week he gives you an article, or stories to read about to learn MN History. He does discussion board and there are 4 exams. He gives great feedback and is quick at answering emails. Would definitely take a class with him again.
Awesome professor, I would take him again. I enjoyed his slide shows and there was no homework. A lot of notes but it is better than getting homework. His test was easy nothing hard. You don't have to give detailed answers on the exam to get it right. I learned a lot taking his class. His lectures are not boring. Honestly the of the best professor.
Amazing professor! I loved MN history with Gish, who is chill and laid-back. The class is designed for success if you do the work. Weekly readings and stories set the scene. Do a discussion board or paper and he provides great feedback. There are three written take-home exams and a project involving a paper with a selfie at a historic place in MN.
I took POLSC online. His lectures really focus on the material you need to learn -with a bit of humor sprinkled in. Reasonable workload, lectures & discussion post or paper each week to help digest material. A handful of documentaries & short videos to watch throughout the semester. Three short answer exams. Enjoyed the class & learned a lot!
We love you Mr. Gish!! Take a class with him.
Such a great teacher, I would rate him even higher if I could. He makes it extremely engaging! He's so fun and the lesson plans and material are so clear. There is weekly assignments but if you stay on track it's smooth sailing.
This is my second class with Adam. He seems very kind and helpful. You are graded on discussion posts or simple essays on the different Minnesota history topics presented each week. The exams and final are just 10 essay questions each. Every assignment and exam is available at the start of the semester so there are no surprises. Easy, fun A!
Professor Gish is professional, but also understanding towards students. He is an easy grader if you put in a genuine effort for the assignment requirements. He responds to emails and grades on time. Not much of a homework load. I highly recommend!!
Adam Gish is a really great and understanding professor. His class work was manageable and organized. He accepted late work up until close to the end of the semester and was clear about instructions and guidelines. Great class to take!
Very good professor, probably the best I ever had, just do the work and you'll be fine, outgoing too.
Adam was super chill. Kept the class up to date on current events. The slides have everything you need for the tests and he prepares you for exams well. It was fun to be there, he doesn't draw things out and we had some video days too. We had a few group projects/presentations but very low pressure environment. Attendance graded but he's reasonable
Do your discussions, just because he accepts them late out of kindness, does not mean you can turn them in at the end of the year, stay on track.
You won't regret taking a class with this guy. He made me appreciate history, even as a STEM major. I'm def planning to learn more on my own for fun. After all, isn't the role of a teacher to teach their subject so well that even those who initially had no interest end up caring?
He was a great professor. He wanted us to be successful, did what he could for that but still required us to do the work.
He clear,y cares about what he does and wants us to be a successful grader. Don't fall behind on discussion posts.
One of the nicest, easiest professors at RCTC. Inspirational and really wants you to succeed in his class. Take him if you can, the class is easy and he clearly is passionate about what he is teaching. Quizzes are taken with others, and the exams are the quizzes compiled together. The class is set up for you to get an A. Adam Gish is the goat!
He was overall a really nice teacher, not really a heavy grader. Be prepared to read, he has lectures and primary documents. The only problem I had with him would be that he never responded to emails, if you said you couldn't access something he would make an update to his plan saying there's a new video for those who cannot access the other one.
He's a cool prof, his class is so easy, and you barely have to do anything. You really only need to skim the material to get 100% on things. the tests are open note, but they are short answer tests so they take a while, but everything can be found in the lecture slides. His lecture recordings are boring but you don't really need to listen to them.
Awesome and funny guy! I would take another class with him!
Mr. Gish is awesome, definitely cares about what he is teaching Would recommend the class and him as a teacher!
Amazing teacher really chill
he is super chill and nice would 100% take again
If you sign up for this prof you are in good hands, super funny guy, chill, and cares about his students. Has about 10 mini quizzes and tells you someone of the questions ahead of time, little to no homework, and 3 exams which are just the mini quizzes put together.
Mr. Gish is an excellent teacher! He is funny, friendly, and enjoys teaching the material. Would 100% take him again.
I took Gish for American Government. If i can suggest one thing to all students at RCTC is TAKE THIS GUY! His lectures were informative and NOT BORING. The whole class consisted of lectures and writing notes, a random discussion post you did IN CLASS, a few quizzes, and very easy tests! Anyone especially PSEO students TAKE THIS CLASS.
Amazing professor! He's so chill, easiest A of my life. If you do the study guide your set the exam is exactly like the study guide its word for word also takes notes it'll l help so much on the quizzes.
