Great teacher, always helpful, great at explaining the problems, I would advise having him
Best Calc teacher I've ever had. Tests are straight forward, no tricks. Very very helpful!
Good calc teacher. Very nice and explains things thoroughly. I would recommend him.

great teacher who is very helpful and concerned for his students doing very well in his class. I would recomend him to anyone taking calc 1.
Best teacher i've had this semester...very thorough and makes calc easier to understand...i would recommend him to anyone takin calc1...
Great teacher and easy to understand. Only wish I had him for 156 as well.
Most definitely the best math professor. He is young and can relate to his students. I would recommend him to anyone.

He shows mastery of the material and goes the extra mile to ensure that students understand his lectures. If you keep up with homework in his class, you have no excuse to fail.
This was by far the best teacher i have ever had teach a math class. He was very clear and always willing to help. Never once did he leave a student behind if that student spoke up. Every idea taught was well understood and very clear. Great teacher would recommend to anyone.
He is an awesome professor. The first thing he does as soon as he walks in the class room is asks if anyone has any questions. Also throughout the lecture he asks if anyone needs help, and he's really cute too!!
He's easy as hell.
The best teacher ever!! :)
This class is very easy if you attend class. Attendace is taken everyday. His lessons are very clear and the exams are extremely easy. He is always willing to give help.
He is the best math teacher I have ever had. I haven't gotten a B in math since about 8th grade.... He's nice to talk to, and not always about math either, and he's also nice to look at.
Adam is an excellent professor. He always helps students when they need it and it is obivious that he cares whether or not his students understand what is going on. He is very easy to talk to. And He is sooo gorgeous. I wish I had to take another math course just so I could have him again.
Great teacher, cares about his students, he gets the point across in all of his lectures, and helps out students whenever they need it. Hes only 27 or something and a real down to earth cool guy, if you have the chance to take him for any math, do it.
I would recommend him because he is an excellent teacher. Although I don't think he has a Ph.D, he is still the best math teacher I have ever had. I still found his class very difficult, but that is because Calc II is hard. But he will work with you, and always seems to be in a good mood.
HES THE RUDEST TEACHER I HAVE EVER MET I REALLY DIDNT LIKE HIM , IN THE BEGINING HE WAS ALRIGHT BUT LATER HE JUST BECAME STUPID, I HATE HIM SOO MUCH WITH A PASSION,HES THE WORST TEACHER!

Good teacher, always makes sure you know the information.
He alrite he stutters alot but otherwise he cool
I love Adam as a professor. He is really easy to understand and he explains everything wonderfully. And he will continue to explain it until you fully understand what is going on.
He is a good teacher. He tries his hardest to prepare you for the tests (which he has no control over because they are departmental). He did a good job. Do your homework, go to class, and you can squeak out a C no problem!
i like the way he teached one thing each day
Good teacher. Explains things well. Willing to help out. Easy grader.
Great teacher, explains things really well and as long as you understand the examples, the class is pretty easy. He is always really helpful and will make sure you understand the concepts. I hate math but he made this class a lot easier...

Very clear on material covered. he doesn't come up with the tests though and they're online so it makes everything a little bit more difficult.
Good guy, really clear with what he teaches, but don't rely on him to spoonfeed you.
Great teacher. Very helpful and tests are fair.
Explains everything clearly and thoroughly. Good teacher overall.
Very good at explaining Mathematics. I strongly recommend him for anyone wanting to learn and understand math principles.
This guy can teach math! You will look forward to this class. I don't know if he even has his PHD yet, but he doesn't seem to need it. Wish he could be cloned and teach all math courses. I must say, he is a million times better than another calc teacher whose last name starts with an "N" and ends with "adler".
very very very good teacher, best math teacher ive had. However the Course Structure is horrible the worst ive seen. The Math department is so full of themselves good luck passing if your not a math major
The best math teacher I have ever had. Dropped 251 with a horrible professor "m...ey" and am doing 100x better with Goody and actually understand everything. The tests come straight from the homework and grading is very fair. Partial grading for everything. I took 251 over summer just because he was teaching it.
I took math 251 during the summer and it was ok, his tests are not that hard if you go to classes.he explains the concepts very well. he is the best teacher in math department. the problem is he rarely teaches math 251 or 261. the department wants him to teach lower math. His notes are awesome. I got A in math 251. I learned many things.
He is a great teacher, he will help out of class as well. Wish I could have him for all my math courses. He might have a little speaking problem, but it is easily ignored.
He was a really nice guy in and out of class. But I had trouble learning from him. I have no doubt that he knows the material very well. But his speaking problem was really noticable and hard to ignore. Also, a lot of the material on tests were WAY HARDER problems then we ever learned how to do in class.
He was a good teacher who alloted time for test review every exam. His speaking problem is easy to ignore after you get used to it. Just think of it as him emphasizing certain points
He explains everything so thoroughly you barely have questions. All you have to do is show up and pay attention. There's no homework (except lab)! He was always helpful when I needed it.
He tries to make sure everyone understands and takes an entire day to review for tests, and one to go over the tests once you have taken them. I found doing the suggested homework problems extremely helpful for tests. The tests were departmental so he didn't know exactly what kind of problems would be on the tests. Overall a good teacher.
Didn't really teach the material. Just stood in front and wrote out the solutions to homework on an overhead.
BEST MATH TEACHER EVER!!! Very helpful, fair, and easy-going. Used tons and tons of examples which was extremely helpful on tests, and extra credit was available. Would recomend this teacher to everyone.
Excellent instructor. Concise, excellent explanation of material.
Overall, a good teacher. Takes a day to review before tests, and is really good about answering questions. My biggest complaint is that he stutters, a lot, and sometimes it makes him a little hard to understand. But, he knows his stuff and is fair. I'd recommend him.
Really helpful, when you go to office for help he will make sure that understood the problem, teaches very well in class too, wouldn't hesitate at all in taking him as a professor.
awesome professor! probably the best math teacher I've ever had. explains everything and is great with answering question.
Fave teacher. His tests are REALLY easy because all the questions he has gone over in class. Just rework the problems in your notes and from labs and you'll get an A. Also, I didn't use the book once.
Very clear on what to expect on each exam! He spends an entire class reviewing and answering questions. As long as you pay attention during lecture and make an honest attempt on the worksheets given during lab, you should do well. Exams are very similar to questions from the worksheets and the examples from the notes.
Great teacher! He explains everything really well and goes over a lot of examples during class. Also, he dedicates a whole class period before an exam to go over problems. He does stutter, but you get used to it after the first week. Promise! I definitely recommend him for anyone, especially if you're bad at math like I am.
Overall, a good teacher. He's very nice and helpful during labs. His class is rather easy if you have any prior knowledge about calculus. He can be a little boring at times, but thats just math. You only have one worksheet a week, and tests are very doable if you review the worksheets from that section and take notes in class.
He's a great professor. Very nice, very helpful and always willing to help. As long as you go to class you're fine. However, on days he returns exams, STAY THE WHOLE CLASS. He likes to take attendance, see how many people leave, and if a lot of people leave, he will take another attendance and only the people who showed up and stayed receive credit
Very helpful, tests sometimes had surprises but were usually strait forward. Explains things in good detail, would recommend.
Calc 2 is very hard... however, Adam made it bearable. prepared us very well for the final. All tests were from homework problems and/or in class examples. Good teacher, I recommend him. Occasionally pops out a joke, which is amusing.
Definitely the best calc professor I've had! Made sure everything was understood by the class & explained things very well. Wish I could take him for every calc here.
Adam is a great calculus teacher. Tests aren't a breeze but he'll do his best to prepare you for them, which if you review your notes on a daily basis, he does! Go to class and take clear notes and do the homework, that alone should get you a decent grade! He was very helpful
Great teacher, He really cares about what he does and gives you a sense that he actually wants you to do well Before each test he does a complete review of what you need to know so you are prepared. He is an awesome person and will make sure he gives you the best opportunity possible. I made sure I got him as my professor in future classes.
Great professor!! He was very helpful and willing to help. Definitely the best math professor I have had. Highly recommend taking him.
He's the best teacher EVEERRRRR!!!!! EASY A, Highly recommended.
Adam is UH-MAZ-ING. He's an absolutely wonderful professor, probably the best calculus professor I've ever had. He prepares you for all of your exams and the final. He's also always more than willing to answer any questions you may have. He makes calculus as smooth sailing as it's ever going to get. Take him as many times as you can.
Adam is such a GREAT professor. He explains calculus SO well. I am really, really bad at math, and I was nervous about taking calculus, but he made it as easy as it was going to get. Please take him if you get the chance. He's a really wonderful person all around. He does speak fast, but it was easy to get past that. You will regret not taking him.
Good teacher and so clear. Cover every thing and very easy tests and so helpful. I'll recommend him for Math 153.
Great professor. I struggled for the first half of the semester and went to his office hours once and passed the next test. Definitely would take again. The test are straight forward and he prepares you well for each one. Be prepared to memorize!
He is very helpful. His exams are identical from the homework. I took his class on the summer. He does care about you. If something looks diffecult he will try his best to clerify it. Best math teacher in WVU so far.
Great Guy! Very Organized! Known to cancel class the day before a great. If you take good notes and study you will do well.
Likes what he teaches. Speaks VERY fast, it's hard to keep up sometimes. He's clear but he rambles a lot, going back and forth. Notes on the board are very clear though. Not my favorite math professor.
He is a great teacher although he stutters when he speaks and talks fast like an auctioneer. Would recommend.
Very excellent teacher! Makes complicated methods easy to understand. He really teaches you the information. His method of teaching is the best. If you didn't take Calc in high school, you might struggle a little - you can always go to him for help. He goes by his syllabus. Only need your book if you want the extra practice, but need online code.
He was good.
A genuinely good guy. Math 122 is self-paced, but he's always willing to help and is great at explaining things. Would definitely take again.
Prof. Goodykoontz gives organized lectures with plenty of examples. He's friendly and approachable, but occasionally works out problems a bit too fast if class time is running out. I had little exposure to calculus before taking 153 and did well on the first few exams but struggled towards the end of the term. Take advantage of his practice tests.
Great teacher. Answers all your questions and seems to really care about his students. He repeats himself a lot but it is only going to help you really understand what you are learning.
Very good teacher, overall good guy. Never had taken any kind of calc before and understood him very well. He doesn't make the tests though so do study and do all the HW. he is very helpful in office hours and geniually wants all his students to do well.
Prof Goodykoontz is a very respectable professor. I am glad that I chose his class for 153 as he is a very clear teacher and is always available for his students if they need help. Cares a lot and sometimes is witty.
calc will never be an easy class without the effort, but as a teacher he was so helpful and very nice. very laid back but also actually cares about his students and treats you respectfully. when material in class gets hard, his office hours are extremely helpful
The class is self paced but is willing to help if you need it. They say that attendance is mandatory but it's not. He was very hard to get a hold of outside of class.
Good teacher, talks so fast he trips over himself though. You will learn well though
He is a good teacher but sometimes talks really fast so you have to keep up. He is always available during office hours if you need extra help with the homeworks and is willing to meet up by appointment. He genuinely wants everyone to do well if they're willing to work for it. You can miss 3 classes without losing points and there was extra credit.
The classes are fantastic, and he explains everything very well and is concise. There is not a lot of homework and it's really just enough to help you apply and learn the material. I would absolutely take him again for any math class I could.
Great professor, explains calculus really well if you have never had calc before. I would absolutely recommend him for 153 and 154
Dr. Goodykoontz was a very average professor. In lectures, he often talked so fast he would get ahead of himself and for a math professor, had poor handwriting that made some problems incomprehensible. If you haven't had calculus before, I would suggest another professor. I think he is fine for those who have calc backgrounds.
He is very good at teaching calculus for everyone to understand! He was my second calculus professor and he is very good at teaching the subject. If you understand your homework then you should do well on exams.
Doesnt explain well in lectures and doesnt make the exams until test day so he doesnt give you a study guide or tell you anything you need to focus on. Wouldnt take if youve never had calc before.
He's not a bad person or instructor, but he uses easy problems to teach the class the lecture, then you find out he hasn't taught everything & that most of the problems are not like the ones he showed on the board. I don't recommend him if you haven't had any previous calculus experience/knowledge. Prepare to learn the concepts outside of class.
He is not well spoken at all and gives terrible notes. He can never just answer a question, he always has to give a circular answer. I would avoid if at all possible. I stopped watching his lectures all together, it like listening to a train wreck; explanations fly every in direction.
Pretty clumsy over his words and he rambles a bit, but he truly does care about his students.
His handwriting sucks and he has a tendency to ramble and trip over his words, but makes very good and thorough notes to follow during lectures. Assignments aren't very difficult or long. As someone who has struggled significantly in Calculus in the past, I find him very easy to understand. Great professor!
Professor Goodykoontz was a polarizing teacher, but ultimately a good one. His lectures do not give an amazing idea of what the tests will be on, but he always is available for questions on homework and review. He goes out of his way to make sure that if you need help he will help.
Has a tendency to talk too quickly and ramble a bit too much, and his handwriting on his iPad is at times, questionable, but overall I think he does a pretty good job explaining examples and you can tell he really cares about his students. Definitely one of the better calc professors in the WVU departments according to my experiences.
I thought Professor Goodykoontz was overall a pretty good professor. His teaching is helpful and (mostly) easy to understand except for the handwriting, which can be difficult at times. He goes over problems too fast sometimes though. He cares a lot about his students succeeding and has in my experience been available via email if I needed help.
He talks so fast during lectures. Way too hard to understand. Also does not care about his students. If you require academic accommodations be prepared to fight for them because he doesn't seem to understand that it is illegal not to give accommodations to students who need them. I've failed three quizzes bc he won't give them to me.
Mr.G is the worst math teacher I have ever had. He talks extremely fast and would end up tripping over his words. His explanations of topics were sub par at best. He would also go over the simplest problems in class and then the homeworks were 10x harder than that. The exams were difficult and always given on WebAssign which will screw you over.
I had hime for MATH-128 in the Fall of 2021. The class was really tough even though I had trig in HS. He was tough to keep up with in class and the homework on WebAssign would not be in sync with his lectures. To be fair, it was his frost tome teaching trig when I had him. He did really care about student's success and was highly accessible.
Prof. Goodykoontz was awesome. You can tell he is very intelligent and knows what he is talking about. He breaks things down in a way that is clear and easy to understand. It is a pre-calc and calc class so I am not saying it is incredibly easy, but put in the effort, go to class, do the homework and you are good to go.
Very transparent and clearly knows what he's talking about. Kind of has a slight stutter but didn't stop me from learning.
Good professor. He's genuinely a chill guy. He teaches the material well and seems to actually care about his students. He's more than happy to answer any questions and is approachable. He's as good a math professor as you could hope for. Highly recommend.
Lots of homework for this class, but it is very helpful and related to the exams. The instructor was funny, and was able to get through long lessons fast. Attendance wasnt mandatory, but I highly suggest going.
At the beginning of the semester I was caught of guard because he talks really fast and stutters a little bit but I got used to it after like a day. I was very unprepared for calculus and thought I was going to fail, but he taught the class really well and I ended up doing much better than expected. There is a lot of homework in the class
You can tell that he knows a lot about the material, however, he cannot teach it to save his life. He jumps around and backtracks and talks like he's auctioning off something at a county fair. His handwriting is hard to read and he's impossible to pay attention to. If you get this guy, kahn academy will be your best friend.
He a chill guy but he actually can't teach. He has a big stutter and can be confusing to understand. The work you do in class have nothing to do with the graded work after class and the HW. I know trig can be a difficult course to take but it's even worse with a professor who needs to carry around a piece of paper of the work to be able to teach it
I really enjoyed Goodykootnz class, I felt as if he was a good teacher. He has a stutter, which at times can make it difficult especially if he talks too fast, but all in all he was easy to understand. Lots of homework in this class yet he was very smart and knows how to help people even if they struggle in mathematics.
Do all the activities and homeworks it really saves your grade. A lot of work but good professor.
He talks so fast and stumbles over his words but you get used to it after the first class. He is very smart and explains things very well. I was so certain I would fail this class and started off failing, I ended with an 86. Lowest exam grade is dropped. Weekly quizzes. A lot of homework but it was helpful and necessary to do well. Don't skip.
Mr. Goody was a nice guy, but he talked really fast and was hard to understand during lectures. Miss one class and you're screwed. Also had worse BO than the engineering majors so beware on exam days. Gave lots of extra credit opportunities on WebAssign before the final exam though which was very helpful
He was very attentive in lectures and would always take time to answer questions fully. He would also be available for a while after class for additional questions. He can have messy handwriting sometimes but will clarify. Quizzes are usually fair and balanced.
He has a great ability to teach, and chooses practice problems during lecture that are very applicable and relevant to test and homework material. Overall one of the best math teachers I've had
The best math professor I've ever had. He gives perfect lectures that are directly relevant to the tested material without all the extra proofs/ nonsense found in calc two that can throw you off. Overall, I found his class very easy, and his teaching was very representative of the section exams.
Unfortunately, they cut him but I just wanted to add he was truly amazing. Best math professor and made things make sense.
Great teacher
Professor G has a unique teaching style that can be challenging to follow. While he knows the material well, his fast pace and lack of clarity make it tough to keep up. Thankfully, tools like unstuckstudy and Khan Academy helped me stay on top of the content. Overall, a manageable class if you put in the work.
Adam GOATY-Koontz. Lock in during lectures and you'll get carried to an A. He explains concepts deeply, answers all questions, and does the full practice exam with you a day before the exam. He cancels quizzes if he's behind on content, and always stops class on time. Some say he goes fast, but I didn't personally feel that way. The GOAT!
I regard him as the best math teacher I ever had. He helped make a genuinely difficult class a lot better. He is accessible in and outside of class usually via email. His handwriting can get messy but he will clarify what he wrote if you need it.
Great teacher and he is willing to help not a tough grader
Excellent professor. Overexplains a lot of things which helps a lot for more complex topics in Calc 2. He is very descriptive and helpful with explanations in lectures. Nice guy too.
