Professor Hoffman was very amazing! Tries his best not to make the work boring as well as make sure you are successful. You can tell he cares about his students and is doing his best to make the corse work for you. Wish he taught other courses I could take!!

Adam is a killer teacher and one of the most in-depth and concise teachers I've had at ASU. The class consists mainly of four big papers that make up your grade. He genuinely cares about his students success, and will work hard with you to help you get the grade you want in the class. Hard grader but is worth the experience if you put in the effort

He gives a two papers throughout the semester and a final research paper at the end. The class isn't that difficult if you stay on top of your paper and he gives in class time for peer reviews and requires you to meet with him on at least one paper. Super nice teacher and really enjoys teaching the class and keeping the students engaged

Do your essays or else you won't pass! Overall, a really chill professor who has very clear expectations. Only problem would be that when critiquing essays, he can be a little unclear. To fix that issue just ask him to be more clear and he's more than willing to!

Adam is good professor, to get an A, go into office hours and listen to what he has to say and change your paper based on his feed back. He is harsh when giving criticism, and sometimes vague. He is clear about assignments and how he is grading and easy going if you forget a worksheet. I would highly recommend Adam for English 101.

Adam is a swell genuinely nice man. He really cares about your success in the class. You get weekly homework logs and four writing prompts throughout the semester. It's not a hard class, what is expected of you is very clear the beginning. It's not a very exciting class but it didn't suck so theres that.

Adam Hoffman was a very good teacher and managed to always make class interesting. I went into this class expecting it to be an average English class, yet instead, this was an English class focussed on Chinese culture. While this class was challenging for me, I found it to be rewarding and I would highly recommend others take it.

Adam was my favorite professor. His class was very structured and he provided all the handouts we needed in class. The class schedules were very helpful throughout the course as they specified what we had for homework and what textbooks we needed to bring for class. He has a class theme for our papers so it gave us a purpose on what to write.

Adam Hoffman is a good professor, the class is very structured you will always know what you are needed to do. He is not a tough grader though bad work will not be excused. He is reasonable and honest. Overall a good professor I would be happy to have him teach me again.

This class is basically an easy A if you show up and complete all the assignments.

He's a caring teacher, and offered a lot class days where we didn't show up to class. He was very well organized and gave great feedback. As long as you stay on top of assignments, which there aren't many, and turn them in on time and meet his grading criteria, you'll receive an easy A. But if you get behind, your grade may suffer a little.

I like that the class was not lecture heavy. When we were in class, we were given enough instruction to do our assignments and were given time off of lectures to work instead.

He is a tough grader and gives a lot of homework. There are so many in-class participation credits that you can't afford to miss his lectures

Adam is a pretty good teacher. He has good lectures. He gives plenty of time for essays. He works with his students to improve their work. However his class has one shortcoming. He mostly evaluates the class rather than teaches them. For better or for worse, this class is all about producing 4 essays. You have to know how to write already.

Professor Hoffman is a great professor! I learned so much throughout this class; and my writing skills improved. He is very accessible outside of class which is very helpful considering there a few writing assignments. I would highly recommend him to anyone who asked. Adam is a chill professor. His class is simple, easy to follow. Just check the class schedule and you will always know what work needs to be turned in and when. The assignments often require critical thinking or a bit of reading but nothing you cant handle. Show up to class, participate, do your homework, and everything will be fine.

Loves to teach English and really shows it.

This class is relatively easy as long as you keep track of your assignments and essays. There is ample time given to complete each assignment and if you must ask for some extra time, Instructor Hoffman will most likely give you the time. Minimal time is required to complete assignments and the essays are reasonable. This class was enjoyable for me.

The class is an incredible opportunity to explore writing as a skill while also receiving consistent and helpful feedback as long as you ask for it.

Professor Hoffman was a really amazing instructor - so much in fact that I took both of his courses for ENG 101 AND 102. What I can really appreciate about his teaching style is that he is very straight to the point, makes a really good effort to engage with his students and relate to them on a personal level, and gives really useful feedback!

It is an online class. You need to treat it as you would any other class and give it the attention it needs. As long as you allow yourself a few hours a week you can get an A in this class. Adam is a fair grader. He does not just slap an A on anything. However, that does not mean he is a tough grader. Would take again.

Knows and likes what he talks about. He gives good feedback on essays, but he is also a pretty tough grader, so you should listen to what his feedback says. Only four essays throughout the semester, and he gives you more than enough time to finish them. If you show up to class, do the discussion and homework logs, it's a pretty easy pass.

This online english 102 class really easy and straight-forward. The coursework is consistent but it is the same assignments each week so there are never any surprises. The essays were difficult but if you follow the rubric exactly then you'll be fine. He grades kind of tough but not too hard. It was a great, easy online class.

Professor Hoffman was one of the few professors that I actually enjoyed. He understands that we get caught up in life and allows you to turn things in a little late. If you like history, politics, and/or philosophy, this course is definitely for you. The reading materials and lectures are sometimes lengthy, but not unmanageable at all. Professor Hoffman is very clear as to what he expects, but is not overtly strict. I would definitely recommend this course.

This professor was amazing! This class was great and it is an easy class as long as you do the work. I had class once a week and if you show up sometimes there ar extra credit opportunities. The only negative thing I would say is that I did not like the restriction on essay topics. He will give great feedback and make the effort to really know you!

Professor Hoffman is extremely passionate about the topics covered, which is animal rights and the environment, and really opens your eyes to a lot issues in our world today. Very interesting but there are 4 essays- 2 are 1000 words, next is 2400, and the last is 600 word reflection. A lot of discussion and homework logs but its not bad.

Adam is great. This course was mainly on animals and the environment so if you can not handle puppy mills or animal slaughter houses, I don't suggest taking this course. He is a fair grader and pushes his students to do their best work. He also prepares you for future writing courses. He is very understanding and easy to communicate with.

Caring professor who loves what he does. The only downside is the course subject is animals and the environment. If you're not interested in caring for the environment or animals in any way, then I would advise someone else as every paper is directed towards this subject. However, there is a lot of room to work around the course subject.

ENG 494: Birth of Terrorism- This class is not for the faint of heart as there is a lot of reading and writing per module. But it's well worth the knowledge and stretching one's understanding of the world. Loved that there were documentaries and other films mixed in with the reading. Professor Hoffman cares about his students. Fair with grading!

At first, I struggled with the structure of this class. it was hard to get used to at first. It came much easier later on. It is based around animals and environment so be ready for some difficult topics to handle. Overall, it was an interesting class and Adam is really understanding, kind, and passionate about what he does.

Very helpful teacher. He gave timely helpful feedback and extensions when appropriate. Very tedious amounts of work, especially when taken in the 6 week course. It was hard but manageable. He covered his material well and made sure all his students understood by providing recaps of what was in the textbook. That being said, the book was useless

There are assignments almost everyday for this class (it was a summer class, lasted a month long) but they're not super tedious. More often than not, you watch a video/read an article and describe your thoughts. The subject matter of this class is based around animals/the environment so if that doesn't interest you I would not suggest taking it.

Prof Hoffman is the best professor I've had so far at ASU. I took the hybrid class which only meets one time each week. This class has short writing responses each week and a total of three papers in the semester. He allows late work without any penalty and understands that students are very busy. He cares a lot about his classes.

Adam is very passionate for and upfront about the graphic nature of the course, Animal cruelty and environmental issues. Adam offers lots of extra credit for attending animal rights events, but I never needed them as he grades HW easily. 3 main papers and a 4th course reflection essay. Attendance is graded, but you don't miss much if you don't go.

THIS IS MY 2 CENTS ON THIS COURSE: Day one, class had a theme of animals and the environment. I do not know if the course always has this theme but I found that having a theme to stick to throughout the semester shows students that they can learn a lot about a topic if they stick to it and do some research! The rhetoric devices of pathos, ethos, and logos is a prevalent theme as you develop a stance on topics like the environment and animals. There was not a lot of assignments. Prof Adam is super motivating and insightful. Writing necessitates patience and practice; However, the nature of assignments generates passionate products.

This professor will work with you if you reach out. He is very understanding and patient. The class is kind of a lot of work, however it is all easy so it is not too bad.

Be ready to read about animals and the environment. He is is a PHD student so he is aware as a student it is not the only class in the schedule. He understands if something is late, but don't take advantage of the opportunity. As a second language learner, he is a pretty good teacher to learn about what ENG 101 has to offer.

ENG 101 with Mr. Hoffman was one of my favorite classes. The workload is not hard at all if you stay on top of it. He doesn't take points off of late work, but the assignments don't take long to complete unless you wait until the end of semester. Try to show up to class as he is always willing to offer a hand with essays and questions you may have!

Great professor! I took his English 102 course and the topics were very thought provoking. They are passionate about what he's teaching and asks difficult questions. Adam is very understanding and forgiving when it comes to turning in assignments, as long as you're not consistently late. When life happens, he will work with you. I hated English class in high school, but ENG 101 was my favorite class because of the engaging course theme and environment that Adam provided. I highly recommend you take his class.

For someone who has taken honors English classes in high school this class was a breeze for me, and I believe even someone who was not the best at English could thrive in this course. Professor Hoffman was a really good teacher! He gives amazing feedback on everything you turn in which really helps you improve. He is very understanding about any emergencies. One thing that I wasn't too fond of was that the course material was very political and controversial and a lot of the options on topics and books to read were left sided.

His topics surround on environmental, human, and animal rights, so be ready to write about these topics. Class is straightforward and there are discussion and homework logs due every week except for Final Drafts. Showing up is important and be ready to do some group activities and communicate. Overall a good class for talking about these topics.

This professor was honestly great and so was the class! Although I said we use the textbook it was only used for 2 quick and easy assignments. Most lectures are interactive and entertaining. He was extremely forgiving on late work and helped a lot with essays if you asked. I 100% recommend this class.

I really enjoyed my semester with Professor Hoffman. With classes being online, it truly can test ones teaching ability. The syllabus had a clear-cut schedule of the class and what to expect each day. He is easy to talk to and lenient about due dates; he can empathize with students.

I think that he is very educated about real world issues and is always open to hearing about every argument. He is lenient too because he would extend deadlines if necessary. I would rate him a 10/10! One of my favorite teachers!

What I loved most about Hoffman was the way the lessons were set up. Hoffman set us up to succeed and was very clear with what he was expecting us to do. I wouldnt say that there was anything that I disliked. ENG 102 was a very good course and maintainable. Hoffman Is one of the best professors I have had, he is great!! He cares for his students.

The class was interesting and pretty easy, as long as you turn stuff in you can easily get an A. He was also lenient on due dates which was helpful because this was a busy semester for me.

I recently completed English 102 with Professor Hoffman. The class has 3 major writing papers in addition to other assignments due every week. Professor Hoffman cares about his students and understands life happens. If needed, he accepts work late and always takes the time to give feedback on rough drafts or assignments.

Adam is a very caring professor who you can tell values each of his students. While this class requires a lot of writing, you get to choose your topics and are given the freedom to write about your interests. All in all, this class was enjoyable and most students will pass this class easily.

His class isn't hard. He doesn't give too much work and its interesting work so you won't be bored. Understanding about absences.

Adam Hoffman is the BEST English teacher I have ever had. He genuinely cares about his students and is very understanding when it comes to late work or needing extensions. Do not take advantage of his kindness though, turning stuff in on time in his class is very easy and his feedback is always amazing.

Definitely recommend Mr. Hoffman for any ENG course! While there is a fair amount of work, he's also somewhat flexible with due dates. Three main papers and one reflection, but he helps you through it a decent amount. Just make sure you keep an eye out for emails on Sunday nights, as he did cancel class a few times.

This class was pretty easy. The professor was a very cool guy. As long as you show up to most of the classes and turn your work in with the basic requirements you should get a good grade. Make sure to have access to the textbooks as you will need them on an assignment or two.

Adam really listened to his students needs, and he often moved back assignments or papers to help us out. There were 3 main papers in the semester, but there was definitely enough time to get them done. He also provided in depth rubrics that helped a lot.

I really enjoyed Adam's class. He was really understanding of student's situations outside of class, gave great feedback, and was overall super chill. Get ready to learn about and have a lot of discussions about social issues, the environment, and animals. Really interesting class!

This was my favorite class I have taken this year. Adam made it very engaging and on days we had class he would bring his super cute dog in, which was super amazing. All of the essays we wrote in class were all interesting and fun to write. I wish I could have this class again.

Took this class again after ENG 101 and it was great again. A few papers that were pretty long but other than that the homework took about an hour or 2 a week and it was pretty straightforward. Very, very nice guy and is always available to help and is genuinely caring for all his students.

Adam Hoffman does make his expectations known of his students. There is a decent amount of work that needs to be completed for the class, around two 30 minute assignments a week. Three big essays in this class that progressively get harder, Adam does grade a little harder than other professors I've had. Does bring dog to class which is a plus.

Professor Hoffman is very knowledgable on the subject of English. He also is genuinely interested in writing and learning about current topics. Thus, he gives great feedback on essays and is also willing to answer any questions you have. He also has a lovely service dog!

Mr. Hoffman was a very down-to-earth and approachable teacher. Not a lot of coursework besides Discussion Posts, Peer Reviews, Library Research assignments, and 4 Writing Prompts. One thing, though, is that he sometimes only posts the assignments by a week early, which is usually enough time to finish them.

AMAZING professor! Can tell he actually cares about his students learning. I learned really useful skills just attending the in person classes (hybrid class). If you end up taking a hybrid class as well, he brings his service dog who is just wonderful. Assignments and papers were not too long. He is very understanding when it comes to late work.

Very lenient on assignments and essays. I think for all essays, he gave two extra days for people to turn in their essays with no penalty, which is super helpful if you have a lot of other homework to do. He's also got a dog that runs around the class which is cool.

Adam should be the go-to professor for English and I have had a great experience overall! His service dog is friendly, and he gives us attendance icebreakers at the beginning of class so that we can get to know each other. We met one day a week and most of the work we did was on our own time.

Professor Adam's English course is the best English class I have had at ASU. Homework assignments were easy to understand and were designed to help you with writing assignments. Another great thing about Professor Adam's class was his super friendly service dog that roams around the classroom.

The class is divided into 3 main writing projects. It is not hard to score well if you stay consistent and keep up with the weekly assignment that actually helps build the main paper in parts over the span of the module. Also getting to say hello to the best dog in class encouraged me to go to class.

One of the best professors I have ever had. He is a tough grader on essays, but if you follow his rubric and listen to his feedback, you are bound to get a good grade. Great professor and gives many extra credit opportunities! All the papers you have to write can be hard to do especially if you aren't used to writing 1000+ words and doing a lot of research. However, if you follow the very detailed instructions he gives, it's not too bad. I took the hybrid course so I only had class once a week which was nice.

This is my second semester taking Adam and though this class has quite a bit of homework, he is very understanding and laid back. Adam Hoffman was by far one of my favorite teachers at ASU. Genuinely cares for all of the students and wants everyone to succeed. The course gets harder down the line, but Adam does a great job of making sure that you are prepared for everything that's coming.

There are 3 "essays", not too hard, a very similar class to ENG 101. He doesn't grade too harshly, attendance is "mandatory", but you get up to 4 absences, at least for the hybrid course that I took with him. He's chill and also has a service dog in the classroom. Overall good teacher, I don't regret taking this course with him.

Adam Hoffman is very passionate about what he teaches. The only thing I would point out is that he has a service dog, so take that into consideration when selecting his course. The workload is pretty light, minus the essays. I learned a lot while keeping my workload light and being able to work with a calm, passionate professor.
