Attendance to the class is not really necessary, but it is beneficial. If you don't go you aren't going to get points off for attendance. The professor is interesting and his test come straight from his powerpoints. If you study hard and use his powerpoints and given study material you will succeed in the class.
Adam is such a great guy inside and outside the classroom! Go to class everyday and you will no doubt pull an A! Test are from PowerPoints and material posted on Moodle! Gives extra credit to help you out and will tell you sometimes what can be on the test but only if you attend lecture! Great guy and a must take for BIO 1001!!
Adam was a good professor. He taught the information clearly. Class isnt required if you can get someone to send you the PowerPoints. The homework doesnt count for much. He offers lots of bonus. If you know everything on the PowerPoints, it should be hard to at least get a B or higher. He also curves sometimes. Make sure you take the pretest.
Classes are not mandatory but you should go to get the word of the day which are used to curve the test. Test are very difficult and require a lot of studying, but Adam is great. He cares a lot about his students.
This class is amazing! Took as a non-science major who is horrible at bio & pulled off a B. Very clear with grading, gives bonus for attending class and is extremely informative. He gives you the power points & you fill in the blanks during lectures. Go to class, do all bonus opportunities, study & you will do fine. Also let's you take a pre-test!
He is a great teacher and a really nice dude, at least for 1001. He gives tons of extra credit and plenty of materials to help you prepare for the test. I would recommend using Khan Academy to study for the test, as that is what helped me most. Only way to fail is if you put no effort in, he gives you everything you need to succeed in his course
Adam is a great teacher. I took him for his online 1001 class this semester and did pretty good but should have done better. If you take his class, ALWAYS DO THE LECTURE ACTIVITIES AND POLLS, i got 16.5 points added to my final exam because of this. I liked him so much that I am taking his 1002 next semester.
Adam is amazing. Took 1209 over the summer and he is far better than any TA. My 1208 TA was a pain. I could never figure out what she wanted on the lab reports. Adam's expectations are crystal clear as is the grading criteria. The quizzes are easy if you read the lab manual plus he does at least 1 random trivia bonus question per quiz. Take him!!
Adam is a good professor but test are tough. Studying is extremely necessary to pass. The material is a lot at once. He does a great job at giving bonus on the test so that will help boost your grade along with the homeworks and quizzes. Class is kind of boring but attendance is mandatory.
Adam is awesome. He's funny and very enthusiastic about biology. Made class enjoyable. Tests are pretty easy if you study his powerpoints and the review materials he posts to moodle. He also gives a lot of opportunities for extra credit.
Dr. Adam is super cool. I enjoyed his class. Plenty of chances for bonus points. There should be no problem passing with a good grade if you listen in lecture. This course also has SI for more classes.
Adam is a dawg. He cares about this class and gives really good lectures. Go to class and do the pre tests and you'll do well. Do all extra credit
If you study every detail of each chapter for the test you will be able to get an A
If you aren't a BIO major & need a science take this class online!!! Theres online hw every Sunday, but its ALL on quizlet easy 100. You get to take a pretest before the actual test and its basically 90% of the same thing. Super easy, and no class. Only thing is sometimes I'd forget I'd have hw bc i didnt have an actual class, but besides that, easy
I took Hrincevich for both bio 1001 and 1002 and it was a great decision! He's really funny and he has pretest (a free shot at the exam) which SAVE YOUR LIFE!! The hardest part of it all is the material.
Dr. Adam is an amazing professor. If you need a science credit & a non-science major, take him. The material isn't the easiest, but it's not the hardest. Start studying a week before the exam and make sure you TAKE THE PRETEST. It will do more good than anything. His exams are pretty much the same and everything is repetitive. He also is hilarious.
Adam is a great teacher, definitely take his class! Not the easiest material, but he gives so much opportunity for extra credit. His tests are kind of specific, but he practically gives you half of the test in the study materials online. Just go over what he asks you too and do the extra credit
Adam is such a character and so sweet. He will answer your emails or any other questions you have ASAP, and wishes the best for his students and that they do well. He gives you bonus questions on each in class quiz and tells you exactly what to study for them. He also gives you a "skeleton outline" for WAs.
Adam had very clear grading criteria for all the writing assignments and lab report. Tough material but a fair TA.
His lectures are basically powerpoints and you have to teach yourself the whole material all over again or look for outside sources to actually understand it. He does offer a lot of extra credit which is nice, but the exams are very lengthy and are most of your grade. There is also a lot of extra homework to be done online.
So easy if you study. The tests are the powerpoint
Dr. Adam is great! His class is very lecture heavy and tests are very lengthy, but if you study and review it isn't very hard to pass. Homework due every Sunday that's all on quizlet and helps boost grade. Tons of bonus opportunity for exams, and he's such a nice and caring guy.
He is super kind. Really funny. I enjoyed taking his classes. He does give extra credit chances but you will have to work to keep up with MasteringBiology.
This is my second semester with Dr. Adam and I would absolutely take him again. He definitely cares about his students. He gives a word of the day at the end of lectures so that's his way of taking attendance. Definitely have to study for his exams but he gives tons of extra credit to help you out. There are also SI's that help!
Good teacher but does not go into as specific detail about lecture topics as he will on the test. Test are between 80-100 questions long with multiple answers to each and picture labeling and identification. Really good lecturer but if you think you will need help with this subject, he is not one to ask for help. Strict on crazy syllabus policies.
Gives lots of extra credit on tests for things like: attendance, crossword puzzles, extra hw, etc. His class is tough but you can pass easily if you go to class
Adam is a really great guy and understands we aren't science majors. He gives many many opportunities for bonus that can affect your grade A LOT, like going to class (WOD). I failed biology my first semester and have maintained a high C/ B average this whole semester. Overall a great teacher and best biol1001 class.
Class is not mandatory but he gives a word of the day at the end, these are used for extra credit if exam averages are low. Provides many extra credit opportunities. He's funny and often wastes class time with stories, which is nice. Responds to emails quickly. Does not take any excuses for missed homework, exams, etc.
Adam is genuinely the clearest professor I've had in college. He tells you what you need to make an A. The material for this class is disgusting but he gives you plenty of opportunities to get the grade. He also responded back to my email within 3 minutes in the middle of the night.
Adam's grading rules are very clear, and he makes sure people that go to class and pay attention have a good advantage. I probably should've payed more attention in class, but I got enough extra credit for just being there that it wasn't a huge deal. He throws a ton of material at you and you need to know his powerpoints like the back of your hand.
Adam is the best bio professor! There are only four exams (and some homework) and all he does is lecture BUT he makes it as painless as possible. As long as you study before the exams (which he curves pretty generously), you'll be fine. Also TAKE THE PRETEST. Seriously it's the same questions that will be on the real thing so just do it.
I love this man. If you have to take a BIOL sequence, this is your guy. You need to study, but he really understands that some of his students couldn't care less about BIO and have to be there. SOO he offers great extra credit opportunities. I always went to class, and he was great at explaining the material. Very caring, would recommend. Biol>Geol
This guy is amazing. His lectures were funny, yet he was able to get the points across that needed to get put out there. If, you're able to take his class, do it. You won't regret it.
Gives lot of extra credit and bonus opportunities so make sure to do them! Also bio online quizzes are a big part of your grade (DO THEM). I read the chapters before the test and reviewed my notes a day before the tests and i was fine. also TAKE THE PRE-test !!
Dr. H is an amazing prof. Be sure to go to lecture, he'll give you extra credit on each test based on a word-of-the-day system. Homework is super easy; all the answers are on Quizlet. And his review materials make the exams a breeze. Literally no excuse not to make an A in his class.
amazing guy. go to every class for the notes during lecture and he does random extra credit in class. homework is easy and you can find the answers on quizlet. super funny. tests aren't too difficult but study in advance its a lot of information.
NOT HELPFUL! no sense of kindness toward his students. for example, I went to him in a very respectful way w a problem in his class & his response was "I mean this is not rocket science you should be able to figure this out on your own". flat out just rude. I would never take him again for a class if my life depended on it.
If you like it when a teacher reads straight of the ppt then his class is for you. I really hate when teachers teach like that because I'm not learning anything. There is also way too much information in his ppt and he expects you to read the book for every chapter. This is his first time teaching 1202 but still would not recommend.
Adam is a great professor, and really does want his students to succeed. He gives a lot of opportunity for bonus on his tests as well. It really is hard to not make at least a B on his tests because of this. As long as you go to lectures and study adequately you should be fine. He really does set you up to succeed.
expects you to learn too much information for the exams, which the average score on every exam is low. exams are weighted 90% & mastering is 10%. he reads straight off of the powerpoint slides & you have to go to class in order to fill the slides in because he does not post them
He is very lazy, unhelpful and read directly off the PowerPoint without teaching the materials. Exams are very difficult and confusing.
If you don't have an A in this class, you're just not trying. You get to take a practice test which is extremely similar to the real test, he posts the pictures of the diagrams that will be on the exam with notes, and you get bonus points if you go to class. I'm terrible at biology and will have an A
This was my first online class and it made me want to take every class online. The pretests are very similar to the exams. Take every single one. He posts pictures online that are on the exam. Easy class if you put in the effort. Also, he offers a ton of bonus. I ended with a B is because I started to not care towards the end of the semester.
DONT TAKE HIM FOR 1202!!!! Hes still figuring this class out and he tests like were grad students. He curved each test a ridiculous amount because people did so poorly on all of them. He may be good for non science majors but he way over compensated for this class !!!
DO NOT TAKE FOR 1202!!! He reads straight of power-points and goes on tangents about irrelevant information. Theres so much info on the slides its overwhelming and frustrating. This was his first time teaching 1202, but even after complaints abt how difficult the tests were, not much changed. He had to curve the tests 20+ points each time!!! rip
The course was okay. I don't really like bio that much, but Adam made it less painful than other profs b/c of his pre-tests that are just like the real tests & he gives bonus for doing lecture activities (which you should take advantage of!). Still study for his tests, don't rely on the bonus & the curve he gives afterwards to give you an A!
TERRIBLE . This semester was his 1st teaching 1202 lecture I would not recommend him at all!!! He reads straight from the ppts in class and you have to go to class because half of every sentence on the ppt is missing and you fill them in when he shows it in class. His ppts can be 75 slides per chp nothing but words and the exams cover 3-4 chapters
This is the best professor Ive had at LSU. Amazing review files, and easy to talk to if needed. I took the online section of bio 1001 and he made it super easy. Great professor.
ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE!!! Tested us as if we were grad students. Power points had 70 slides per chapter! was not prepared to teach this class! DO NOT TAKE HIM UNLESS YOU WANT TO HAVE A HEADACHE ALL SEMESTER!
Dr. Adam really cares about his students. His exams are worth 90% of your grade though and are not easy. Attendance is mandatory for the notes. He reads straight from the powerpoints though. It was his first time teaching the class through lecture, so he has a lot to work on. He does care about you, but his skill as a professor isn't great.
Great professor. Always curved the tests and dropped the hardest questions. Lecture was easy to follow and easy to pay attention. Bonus for attendance and sometimes random easy bonus on moodle.
The worst professor ive ever had. He read from the 70 slide powerpoints the entire semester He rambled a lot about things that had nothing to do with what we were learning. the Tests were incredibly detailed and difficult. I wouldnt recommend him to my worst enemy.
Prof Adam is a very good prof. He knows the information well AND he can teach it well. He loves images and diagrams, and this angel makes an exam folder with all the diagrams needed for test. He genuinely wants us to pass.
One of the best teachers for BIOL 1001. He is hilarious and keeps the lectures interesting. I wish I would have taken him for BIOL 1002.
He's an amazing teacher. Explains everything very clearly and the lectures are interesting. You have to attend lectures and study ahead of time because it is a lot of materials.
Adam made every lecture bearable and he loves to tell personal stories (sometimes it has NOTHING to do with the lecture) He is laid back for the most part. He is probably overly generous with bonus, but I didn't complain! Tests are pretty easy if you actually make an effort to study the material.
incredibly rude and unorganized. refuses to answer questions if he deems them 'too obvious'. absolutely no structure to course. blatant disrespect for students. when i approached him with an issue, treating him as politely as a student should a professor, he basically told me i was lying and ignored the documentation i was providing him. 0/10.
I took the class online and it was super hard. All tests are around 70-100 questions, with multiple parts to many of the questions. Test questions are super specific and the amount of information you must learn for each test is ridiculous. Prof is rude when responding to your emails, especially if he believes you are asking an "obvious" question.
Absolutely fantastic professor, I took the online class and as long as you just actually study, the tests are pretty easy. He gives a ridiculous amount of extra credit opportunities too that are very easy. The lectures are super easy to follow along with and he does a good job of keeping your attention even when the actual material gets boring.
Gives lots of extra credit. This is a hard class overall, but his tests are based solely on what he lectures, not the textbook. If you study what he provides/the exam study guides you will do well. He takes attendance every day but it is for bonus. Goes off on tangents about his own life a lot wasting class time but never lets class out early.
i took the online version of this course. obviously online classes are more challenging but he was ridiculous. all his exams are 100 questions if not more and are extremely specific. i felt like i was being tested like a grad student or a bio major. for an intro biology course this was too hard. i wouldnt take him again.
For online, there is ALOT of homework. He provides lots of extra credit. Take the pretest! Test consist of lectures and diagrams, but he talks through everything in his lecture files. I preferred this biology over in a classroom and this was a Gen ed for me.
Adam is my favorite professor at LSU! Hes so kind. He gives so much extra credit opportunity and seems to really want the best for his students. The exams are very long, but if you study his slides and look at the picture youll be fine. I loved him for 1001 and 1002!
Tests are based on the lecture so you need to go. He offers a lot of extra credit for the tests, and he wants you to do good as long as you do the work. He is very understanding and cares for the students, overall good class.
It was obvious that this was Dr. Hrincevich's first time teaching the course. The first couple of exams were very difficult as he had to add 25+ point curves, but then made the next couple exams ridiculously easy. He should have better exam material next time around. Lectures are fill-in-the-blank Powerpoints and exam questions cover all slides.
No attendance, but he gives a bonus every class. He reads straight from his powerpoints so if someone can send you the notes you don't need to go. 4 exams (no final) 90% of your grade. Other 10% online HW Exams 2 and 3 are the hardest. You need to write out the notes/ make flashcards to do well on the exams
He has such a chill, funny, and positive personality it feels like you're talking to a friend. Dr. Adam also gives pretests, which helps SIGNIFICANTLY on the exams. Go to the SI sessions, do pretests, go to class, and you'll do fine. He prime example of why having a GOOD teacher plays a role on students' success rate. He's great!
Hrincevich knows what he is talking about and does give good lectures. He gives you a pretest before every test and I HIGHLY recommend taking it. While the class is not too difficult if you study and do the work, hrincevich is an ass. He thinks being "sick" isn't a good excuse to miss anything. He is not understanding and very hard to talk to.
His exams are kind of hard (and VERY long) but he has many bonus opportunities (but only when he feels like it adding it, so you can't rely on them). Exams come straight from his PowerPoint notes so study them (AND ALL THE PICTURES). Adam is also kind of rude and can be snarky in his emails if you reach out to him. I know you're reading this Adam.
DON'T TAKE HIM! I heard bad reviews but decided to take him anyway b/c it fit my schedule. I'm an A/B student but I can't make higher than a D on his tests. The class is so boring and he makes the tests so difficult and does NOT prepare you for his questions at all. I expressed my concerns VERY KINDLY, and he snapped at me... don't make my mistake.
DO NOT TAKE!!! No idea how his ratings are so high. Super boring classes as he reads straight off of PPTs. Tests are lengthy and solely tests you on your ability to memorize stuff. Bonus on every exam based on exam average (this is the only good thing Adam does). Strict on deadlines and unwilling to work with students. VERY RUDE AND PETTY!
DO NOT TAKE HRINCEVICH. He is the worst teacher I have had at LSU. I went to class, read the book several times, studied the powerpoints given, did the homework, and took the pretest but still could not pass. I emailed him to talk about my grade and he was very rude. His lectures will put you to sleep because he reads straight from the powerpoint.
Boring lectures (kms), SO rude (email him about the test? dont expect to be respected in his response), VERY specific test questions (its honestly ridiculous, he tests memorization not understanding) theres always correct answers marked wrong. he gives points back but wont tell right answer. not available out of of class he curves. no final. he sux
honestly adam is the type of person to write amazing reviews for himself on here so people will think hes a good teacher and take him. dont listen to the good reviews. hes incredibly rude, tests are beyond stupid (test my understanding, not my ability to memorize irrelevant facts). his class is not impossible, but it makes me irrationally angry
I don't understand how his reviews are so high. He cannot teach, and his exams are strictly memorizing the powerpoint slide (sounds a lot easier said than done). He gives curves because the avg. score for exams are in the 60s, so that is good. He is very rude, and made a burner account in our class's groupme and called people stupid.
On syllabus day he will tell you a story about an ex-student who poured tea on him. You'll think she was crazy. She was not crazy. F-.
I do not recommend taking Hrincevich. He is very strict on deadlines and typically makes assignments due at odd times. I take tests with ODS and he did not confirm my exam even after I asked him to. He blamed me saying I was irresponsible and then finally confirmed my exam not once but FOUR times. Very petty, unprofessional and rude. Do not take.
Spare yourself if you actually want to learn anything. All he does is read off the powerpoints word for word during lectures. Exams are just ridiculous memorization tests. Know every single detail on every slide of every powerpoint or you will fail. Only pro is bonus points and no cumulative test. He is also petty and rude and unapproachable.
Dr. Adam is awful. He reads off the power point and expects you to memorize every detail from the power point- including very small details in PICTURES (slides can go up to 70 per chapter, usually around 3-5 chapters per exam). He is rude in emails regarding questions about the exam. Most of the grade is your exam. Would never take again !
He's alright. Tests are very specific and pretty difficult but are directly from powerpoints. Terrible make-up exam policy, even if you have an excuse. Pretty rude sometimes. Lectures are just reading the powerpoints. He's funny sometimes, at least. Not sure if the other options are any better, so good luck.
This is a 100% memorization course with Dr. Hrincevich. He reads slides the entire class period while you fill it in. Hard to pay attention when rushing to copy material. All of his powerpoint are copied from the book or online. Not willing to meet outside of class to go over missed questions because "there will be a curve anyway". Didn't enjoy.
Just do not take him. If you plan on learning anything and retaining any material for the future (I.e. MCAT, etc.), choose someone else. All of the reviews from other 1202 students are true about the verbose powerpoint; they are not helpful and you have to memorize every slide for the test, and trust me, it's unnecessarily a lot.
Cannot stand this man! Second time taking a class with him and he has to be one of the worst. Not understanding at all, exams are worth 90% of your grade, and the amount of homework that counts towards the other 10% is ridiculous. He likes to have the last word, you'll think he is funny at first but quickly learn he is a meany! Memorize lectures!!!
I loved Dr. H's class. He gives easy homework (although it is only with 10% of the grade). The other 90% comes from tests; the tests were nothing too bad. Practice regular review of information, there is a lot of it. Try not to cram; this stuff isn't too hard to understand but you have to keep up with it to pass. ALSO: plenty of bonus opportunity
Dr. Hrincevich is the best biology teacher I've ever had. He is very clear about his expectations for the class. If you study for the exams and listen to the lectures, you'll pass. Gives bonus questions on tests.
you will learn nothing. you will memorize 200 slides of notes WORD FOR WORD or you will not get an A (even then its not guaranteed). I got an A in the class, but I promise you, I learned nothing. If you're looking at med school, avoid this man at all costs. you can't even review your wrong answers on tests. bottom line- not good at teaching.
while he is a very nice person and tries to keep lectures entertaining, Dr. Adam doesn't really "teach." He reads off the PowerPoint which is basically an outline of the textbook. You could teach yourself all the material from reading the book, but he takes attendance for bonus. Going to class was otherwise a waste of time.
Adam is funny and very knowledgeable in his field, attendance is critical because he doesn't post lectures. Exams are worth 90% of the overall grade but he has a pretest before each one that help so much and a study guide. Take the pretests, study the lectures and the info in homework and you'll be fine
The notes to study for the exams are hefty. You really have to memorize all slides just to pass. The study guides never coincided with the actual exams and his attitude is disrespectful. Be prepared to read a lot if you take this class.
His class isn't mandatory but if you attend lecture, he gives bonus points. During lecture, he literally reads off the powerpoints. He barely explains any of his notes. His tests are verbatim to his notes and hw. You really have to study those notes HARD because he includes small details from the notes into the test.
Adam is a very rude person. He does not give a f about his students. One of my friends had corona and this clown wouldn't accommodate for him. He also won't round up your grade if you're 0.01 away from an A. I've taken him for 2 classes and the only reason he has good ratings is because he gives extra credit on exams. Lots of memorization.
I don't know how this guy has such good reviews. Will never extend a single deadline no matter what. I had the flu while taking a course with him, and he was not considerate at all. I was out for a test, and he told me that the make up was going to be all short answer, then it wasnt formatted like that. Just completely unprofessional and not caring
Walked into this class thinking he would be a good professor based off of his ratings. BOY I WAS WRONG. Exams are based off of everything. Then his bonus questions are so confusing and have nothing to do with the class whatsoever. Also he does not cut any slack for anything and genuinely does not give a care if youre sick, or having difficulties.
Dont believe the ratings. Mind you we are in the middle of a pandemic and he doesnt care, very rude. I asked to move the exam date for myself to another date due to having to work and couldnt get off and all he says is that it was known in the syllabus since the first day of hes exam dates like?? you cant be serious, very inconsiderate.
This class is literally a JOKE. He is so rude and is not helpful at ALL. Those reviews literally lied because he does not care about his students at all, especially during a pandemic. He is not understanding at all, and the "bonus" on his exams are complete jokes. Do yourself a favor and take another professor if you have other options.
If youre reading this, take this as a sign to avoid this class at all costs. His exams are worth 90% of the grade. He is very condescending when you email him; he is not willing to compromise. His exams are straight from the powerpoint slide. Even then, you most likely will struggle to make a C on exams. His class took a toll on my mental health.
There's homework every week, but he does a good job of explaining the material. He also usually responds to emails within minutes. The class is hard, but if you get the work done you'll be fine.
Professor Hrincevich was by far one of the coolest professors I have had so far at LSU. His lectures were posted asynchronously, and his tests were based solely off his lecture notes and homework. He provided extra credit points and gave us a week to complete one chapter. His exams consisted of 70+ questions and I would always finish early. STUDY!
Rude. Clever. Witty. Helpful. Caring. Inconsiderate. Thoughtful. Condescending. These are just a few "select words" I'd use to describe Adam. All lecture vids are posted online. No office hours. Emails back in seconds. (The rare) bonuses can be ridiculous. Exams90%, homework 10%. VERY extensive and thorough exams. Doesn't take any excuses. Funny!
This professor was the worst thing that has ever happened to me. He never responds to emails. Half the stuff on the lectures don't show up on the test. DO NOT take this with any other hard classes on your schedule or if you have a job. You will have to dedicate a ridiculous amount of time to this class. If there is ANY other professor, take it.
This class was hard. The exams are extremely difficult to take in the allotted amount of time and the questions are very random and confusing. He is not understanding either. There was a hurricane going on during an exam day and he said that not having internet is not an excuse. Like um, sir then how will I take the exam
Make sure to study his powerpoints throughly, the class is powerpoint heavy! Besides that read textbook and regularly interact with him to do good.
The best thing I ever did was take this class from Hrincevich. It was online, so I didn't get the pleasure of practice tests in the lab. However, he posts review guides in the form of pictures (exact ones) and example questions before the major tests. There are only three exams, but the test material comes straight from the lectures. Very easy
Hrincevich seems like a great man. Even though the course is asynch, I can tell he really cares about us and wants us to do well. He sends us reminder emails to study and do our homework and provides a ton of study resources. His lectures are interesting and easy to follow. The course consists mainly of Mastering Biology, 4 exams, and Moodle work.
bruh I took this man two whole semesters ago and I'm trying my HARDEST to prevent ya'll from making the same mistake I did. DO. NOT. TAKE. HIM. One of my other class gc is going off ab this man, so I want to help save some poor souls in the future.
Took him online and it was HELL. You have like 13 hw assignments a week. The exams are over 160 questions and he barely gives you an hour. The material is just way too much and he doesnt care if something happens where you need an excuse or to make something up
Hrincevich is a good prof. His lectures are nice and concise and he gives so many study tools to help of you dont understand. But you have to actually work in his class to understand the material. There are 4 exams and few Moodle quizzes and Mastering Biology every week. The work is manageable if to take the time.
Dr. Hrincevich is a great dude. He clearly wants you to learn the material. That being said, only take him if you want to learn. Took this class asynchronously and you must watch the lectures. Tests are extremely difficult and all application-based. I didn't even know you could apply biological concepts. Avoid if hard work is off-putting to you.
HE'S ONLY GOOD FOR COVID AND ONLINE TESTS. In person, you have to study LITERALLY EVERYTHING IN THE POWERPOINTS. ONLY take him if you're good at MEMORIZATION. if you're not, STOP!!!!!!! also tests are worth 90% of grade... he a lil funny tho.
He is so nice and sends a lot of helpful emails. The homework that you have to do is not hard at all and is super helpful towards the exams. He also has a lot of grades to go into the class so you can make up for a bad test. I would 100% take him again!
Exams count for 90% of your grade, which is ridiculous. Mastering grades do absolutely nothing. He gives a couple of bonuses. On exams, your bonus is literally a social experiment, not an actual question. I was .1 away from an A- and he is incredibly stuck-up about rounding grades. His online lectures are just him reading the powerpoints. Avoid.
BEST PROFESSOR EVER. Rounded up my GRADE & I didn't even ask. He is VERY sweet, UNDERSTANDING, & respectful! Replies to email fast. Tests are worth a lot but literally just MEMORIZE the PowerPoints and you'll make As. Literally memorization. Some concepts but common sense. HW is easy af ;) Way better than Wischusen lol.
Do not take this course with Professor Hrincevich. This course is incredibly difficult for no apparent reason. For each test, you are tested on three to four chapters. Each chapter has a PowerPoint consisting of 30-50 slides. The real kicker is that he expects you to memorize every minuscule detail from EACH SLIDE... JUST SAVE YOURSELF THE TIME!
Ungodly amount of busy work that does not adequately prepare you for tests (which are worth 90% of your grade, I might add). I'm passing senior level courses with A's and THIS is the class that made me want to try crack. He also gives me condescending middle school teacher vibes. Waste of my time and money.
Easy course, nice enough professor. An unreasonable amount of work though.
Not a very hard class at all. You get to move at your own pace, and the lectures he posts makes the material easy to learn. There's lots of extra credit.
My friend warned me about this class but it was either this teacher or an even worse one so I stuck with this guy. I regret it. I was horribly affected by Hurricane Ida and he didn't seem to care much. He didn't change the due dates. Besides that, the hw and quizzes have questions we didn't even go over. Long story short, he is lazy.
I decided to take his class online and it seemed easy enough. Homework is easy and if you're consistent is an easy grade. But he is EXTREMELY RUDE there is literally no point to email him, does not care about his students and his diagrams for his exams are hard. I do not recommend him at all. I'd rather you find a teacher that actually cares.
A ton of homework that in no way prepares you for the tests. Then, when you fail a test and ask for help, he's super condescending and just rude. I had to drop bc the tests were worth almost all of your grade and failed almost every one of them. Don't take class unless you have to, and if you have to, don't go with him.
He isn't THAT bad of a teacher but his exams are miserable. They are typically 70 questions in 90 minutes. The questions aren't all multiple choice either. I don't think I know one person in his class that hasn't run out of time on the exam. He also gives you only from 9-5 to take it so you have to cram it into your other classes. It's not fair.
Homework that doesnt prepare you for class. 70 question test with only 90 mins and all of it isnt multiple choice. Id never take this guy again. Test is 90% of your grade. Theres over 50 home work assignments and it only equals three points to my grade.
Great professor! Class is tough but youll be fine if you pay attention to the lectures!
Definitely my favorite professors this year very cool, very understanding, and very fair when it comes to grades. He gives plenty of extra credit and it is easy to ace this course if you put in the minimal amount of effort. You can tell he is one of the few professors who actually likes to teach he loves interaction and he even makes lectures fun.
He knows his info and He is awesome! Everything you need for exams are provided. he gives notes, PowerPoints, question reviews and mastering biology assignments. Prof. Adam is a very straight forward & wants to see his student succeed. I dislike biology but dont dislike his class.
All the work for the semester is viewable either in Moodle or Pearson. Same thing every week. He's strict on deadlines, but is consistent. Easy to contact and responds quickly. 3 major exams and a lot of material. The material was difficult for me, but He give plenty of extra credit opportunities.
I have NEVER taken a class with a professor worse than this one. The three tests are the majority of your grade. Nothing I did prepared me for the exams. Memorize his lectures even though they are extremely long. The exams were so hard that he curved them all. 10% on the first. 24% on the second. 15% on the third. Take this with someone else.
Professor Hrincevich is a great professor! While his tests are weighted heavily he gives you enough notice and enough information to help you succeed! He responds to emails quickly and is a great communicator.
I took the online version. Getting an A is achievable and easy, but time consuming. There is homework that takes quite some time, but the answers are on Quizlet. The HW is only 10% of your grade, with the rest coming from 4 exams. They are not easy. DO THE LECTURE ACTIVITIES for bonus and you'll get anywhere from 10-17% added to the exam!
The tests are extremely long (70-80 questions ) and only 120 minutes to complete. In order to pass this class, memorize all the pictures in the powerpoints and most of the lectures. I would try and take this class with someone else before choosing him.
Dr. Hrincevich seems like a great man and is a great teacher. He really knows his stuff. But, his exams are so insanely information heavy and worth 90 percent of your grade. You'd better get all 100s on the homework and quizzes, because you need all the help you can get. First B in college and ever in my life. Needed less than a point to have an A.
RIP to anyone taking him in-person. Test are similar to lecture notes. Best advice is to memorize the lecture notes and all pictures on the sides. Just know that he's not the best person lol. He took down all review material on moodle right before the final exam. So, he sucks :)
He's an ok teacher. Exams are heavy and lots of homework. I barely could finish the exams in time. For online, exams are on moodle and you just have to memorize power points and pictures, but it seems like exams would be extremely difficult in person. Took down review materials the day of final exam like what prof does that. Wouldn't take again.
Teaching is meh. Testing is absurd. You need to memorize every PPT, recall random hwk questions, and apply critical thinking for concept questions. 70 questions in 90mins, and ab 1/3 of them are multi-answer. You're expected to identify a specific example of every species of every genius ever mentioned. Would not have passed in-person.
if yall gotta take bio 1001 do not take him. My whole class basically failed all their exams. He is kind of a d!ck, and I can tell he doesnt care about his students. this was supposed to be an easy class to pass, however everything was online except the exams. does not make sense
Insane amount of course load, assigns homework the night of exams and doesn't remind students. Will fail you and then tell you "I told you so" to your face. Doesn't actually teach, just reads off slides while students frantically write everything down in time. An insane jump in difficulty from 1201, feel like I'm drowning in work.
For a Gen ed non science major class this man put his whole back into it. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS IF YOU ARE NOT A SCIENCE MAJOR!!! the exams are absurdly long and worth 90% of your grade so once it's down it's impossible to get it back up. Horrible experience. you literally need a photographic memory if you want to succeed.
It's an easy class IF YOU PUT IN THE WORK. it is imperative that you study days before the test and known literally everything you possibly can. if you study well the tests are very easy. he also gives sooooo much bonus and usually curves the exams a lot.
Very great professor, knows exactly what he is tlkin abt, provides more than enough resources to succeed. Attendance not mandatory, but youll miss out on crucial info if you dont. Exams are very long (70-85Qs-2hrs) but not difficult as they are exactly from the powerpoints in class. Just SHOW UP to class and youll get an A/B. He makes biol fun!!
His tests are really long but very straight forward and mostly easy if you study and know everything in the powerpoints. TAKE HIM AND NOT POMARICO. He gives so many opportunities for bonus you just have to do them.
i love dr. adam, hes so down to earth and has amazing lectures. he also offers a lot of extra credit for exams, and the exams are just memorization of the lecture notes. if you put in the effort to study on the exams, you'll do great, and he doesnt have that much homework. theres 1 homework and 1 quiz for every chapter on mastering biology.
STAY AWAY! Exams are worth 90% of grade. exams were after mardi gras, spring break, easter, and then the final. offers bonus opportunities, but it's a waste of time (finding a specific fungus on trees, finding shamrock, etc.). He expects you to memorize every slide and picture on his powerpoints. HAS FILL IN THE BLANKS on tests, Save your time
test are extremely hard and cover ALOT of information.
If you don't do well on tests do not take this class. I am not a science major and I do not test well, and together this class was hell. In order to pass the tests you need to have a photographic memory because there is so much information. His class is completely online and then he expects you to go in person to take the test. its ridiculous.
If you don't have a photographic memory DO NOT take this class. The tests are worth 90% of the grade and he expects you to be able to go in person to take the tests after having EVERYTHING online. For this to be a gen/ed class and not something for a bio major is absolutely insane and honestly just not fair at all.
The tests are weighted extremely heavily, with 4 tests being 90% of your grade. And the tests are very detailed and very long. However, almost everything on the tests is straight from the powerpoints. He does bonus for tests, usually they're kind of unrelated to the material though. Towards the end, he started giving bonus for attending lectures.
Do you have a photographic memory? Well you're in luck, because this is just the class for you! For those who don't have photographic memory, prepare to hate life for the rest of the semester. Tests are weighted HEAVILY and if you can't memorize 100+ slides and pictures for the exam them you're out of luck.
His letter grades are nice because an A is 92-98 but his exams are worth 90% of grade. They aren't hard if you are good at memorizing everything. Powerpoints can be lengthy but if you do every bonus assignment you are mostly likely going to get 10% added to ur exam score plus curve if there is one. Attend class for bonus opportunities.
Great professor. His lectures were very informative and interactive. Plenty of bonus opportunities and I would recommend to take advantage of every one of them because his tests are the only things that makes this course difficult. The test can be put to 90 questions. Multiple choice, spelling, graphs, and fill in the blank where spelling matters.
NO NO NO NO NO NO NO. Do not take. The tests are worth 90% of your grade and if you don't have a photographic memory, you will NOT do well in this class. The extra credits are so extremely random, like once i had to look for bird fungus? What even is that. He doesn't drop anything so if you score bad on one test you are screwed. Do not take him!!!!
He does not round grades. ended the class with a 69.97 and he would not round it. he gives extra credit and depending on how high the average of the exams are he will not give a curve.
His lectures were good sometimes but other times he read from the slide and didn't explain further even if something was confusing. He posts his powerpoints but they aren't filled in so you need to go to class or get them from someone. His tests are unreasonably hard and he asks things that weren't mentioned in the lectures or on the powerpoints
I'm a rising biochem major senior with a 4.0 GPA. That means I've made it thru physics and organic with an A. And I am coming back here to tell yall to avoid this god awful man. He is a terrible teacher. You cannot review your exams. You will not be be prepared for the MCAT. My upper level classes were not as painful as this mans. AVOID.
He is awesome, gives as much bonus as possible for exams and his exams are very straightforward EXCEPT the final which was a little hard but he honestly is awesome, if you do all the homework and study you will be perfectly fine in his class. WAAAYYYYYYYYY better professor than pomarico!!!!!!!!!! (I know from experience)
Just memorization of PowerPoints. Offers a lot of bonus and participation points- all of my tests were curved a little but ended up with 13%+ added to my score just from doing all bonus. Easy A if u can memorize and going to class helps make studying easier but u could still do fine if you just study the PowerPoint. Wish every teacher was like this
I thought this class was fairly easy; however, I enjoy memorization based classes. You are tested on memorization and application of the material from the Powerpoint slides. He also gives lots of bonus, although it is weird (we had to take a picture of fungus once). Overall, you can do decent on the exams and get an A.
If you aren't good at taking tests, don't take Hrincevich. His exams are worth 90% of your total grade. However, there is always around 10 points of bonus and usually a curve.
A lot of his exams are based SOLELY on the information provided in the PowerPoints. If you are able to recite the PowerPoints/Memorize pictures & graphs on the PowerPoints, you will pass his class. He gives a good bit of bonus for in-class attendance and also extra credit activities. Each test had around 10% extra in bonus on top of a 2-6% curve.
Tests are more difficult, but he gives a lot of bonus.
One of the best professors I've ever had. Lectures could sometimes be very boring but overall, that's general biology for you. Gives SO many bonus opportunities AND a possibility of a curve. Study HARD and make sure you understand the powerpoints, bc generally speaking, the exam questions come from his powerpoints. Study all figures too.
material on the exam not directly in the reading or lectures. tricky double negatives on exam questions, multiple choice with over 6 options, multiple answers per question. I am dyslexia and dyscalculia he mixes up the letters in the corresponding questions at the bottom according to the diagram above I make As except for this class.
Homework is worth 3% each, you can't pull up your grade at all unless you complete bonus questions that are worth 15%. The exams are worth 90% of your grade so there's barely any saving grace.
He is a very nice man but his class is hard. His grading scale is 90% test and 10% homework. He offers extra credit but it's not guaranteed if you complete it. it's always riddles, etc. Test are also 60-80 questions with no enough time, not all multiple choice, very extensive questions as well. I would study constantly and still do bad.
if you take his class online its just pre recorded lectures and you have hw and quizzes on pearson. the exams are really hard though in my opinion and they're very long. its strictly just memorization but I've had trouble on the exams.
Dr. Adam is straight to the point. He breaks down all of his expectations during the first week of class. Study his lecture notes, go to class, and do the extra assignments for extra credit. This class is test-heavy, as are most LSU bio courses. Class is not mandatory but is highly recommended. Expect one hw and quiz on mastering biology each week.
This teacher is just the absolute worst. He is not cooperative with any technology related issues (the course is online but our exams are in person). He refused to upload COMPLETED homework to my grade book just because my mastering biology trial expired and I bought it a day later. He assigns way too much homework and his exams are difficult.
He cares about his students' success and will go out of his way to help their understanding of a subject.
He may be a funny dude but hes the rudest teacher i've ever had. exams were so. hard. Would never take again in a million years.
He is a really good professor and wants all of his students to do well. He offers a lot of bonus and exams are curved by almost 15-16 points each exam. Your grade is basically only four exams, but they are reasonable. Just study the PowerPoints and you'll do good.
the class itself was a lot of information especially for a gen ed course. but as long as you study and prepare for the exams in a timely manner, youll be fine. he curves and provides bonus points if you come to class. his tests are picture heavy that he shows in lecture so make sure to know the labels and functions.
In my opinion, I think that he is a really good professor, but his tests are a lot. I studied for 3-4 days for each exam & used his review tools, but im ending with a B-. He does curve & do bonus for attending class. Students in his 2102 class' tests had the same question as ours. It was a lot for a gen ed requirement, but he was a good teacher.
as long as you study his review materials and his slides you will pass the exams. he gives extra credit everyday just for going to class so even if you don't take notes stay for word of the day. very lecture heavy and not the easiest class but as long as you put in effort you will pass
Very good. Very nice. Very fair. Test very boring but not very hard.
Adam was a great professor and taught the material well. He gave a lot of extra credit and there is always a good chance to earn past a 100 on tests. I did not like how many slides and pictures we had to memorize but the tests were nothing difficult, just takes time to study for. With a little effort this class is an easy A.
he prerecorded lectures for every chapter of the textbook, gave clear instructions on how to download the textbook, and offered several extra credit opportunities. tests were difficult, but he had a powerpoint slideshow as a review for every test in moodle.i only looked at that before the tests. he curves test grades really well too.
Professor Hrincevich is probably my favorite professor I have had so far at LSU. Pay close attention to HIS lecture videos and the picture slides. Also, pay close attention to the extra credit assignments he gives. It also gives high curves on exams.
Great guy. Curves and lets you know exactly what's going to be on the exam. You have to study though, no two ways about it.
This class is 90% tests and his test are based strictly on how well you can memorize HIS PowerPoint. Don't bother reading the book just memorize the pictures and information he posts. A pretty good curve on the test and you get extra credit for attending class. Pretty hard class so if you aren't a good test taker avoid him!!!
Dr. H is by far my favorite professor so far! He makes class so enjoyable and offers lots of bonus opportunities. However, be prepared to STUDY his powerpoints and know them like the back of your hand. However, if you take advantage of all of his study materials, you will be more than prepared for the exam! TAKE HIM!!
Dr. Adam's one of my favorite professors despite what most say about him. His tests are very hefty and for the most part& take me the full 2 hours in Himes. The book helps a lot and there are SO many bonus opportunities. I would also advise to start studying for his exams a week in advance if you are not the best at test taking. But I recommend 100%
He's a pretty cool dude. Tests are pretty challenging but if you actually study the PowerPoints pretty hard they're manageable. He also curves every test by 8-10 points if you do the bonus activities. He makes bio pretty interesting and has a lot of study tools in moodle.
This class is very easy if you put in the time to actually study. He literally gives you a review sheet with the information you need that is on the test, and he gives the pictures that are on the exam. It's literally free points on the exam if you look over the material he provides. He gives SO MUCH bonus. Best bio teacher I have had.
Memorization. His lectures are just copying notes from slides. However, exams are hard and only based on the PowerPoint. You'd think, "okay that's fine" until he chooses the most detailed, insignificant information, like a % out of 90+ slides. If you can't put in the effort to memorize 80 pictures and unimportant numbers, don't take this class.
A bunch of memorization, hardly learned anything. He only reads off powerpoints. You learn nothing during lecture. Tests are extremely hard and purely memorization, 85% pictures. You are not applying knowledge, even if you did your best to study you'll do worse than you thought you would. You will struggle to memorize every detail of 100+ pictures.
COME TO LECTURES!!! He takes attendance that can be used as a bonus on the exams. He loves to give bonuses and will do it numerous times throughout the semester. The exams are not very hard if you focus on the powerpoints and picture reviews. He does curve a lot!
Pretty good, a much smaller class than 1201. Definitely lecture heavy, and he just reads his slides which you're supposed to fill in during the lecture. Lots of bonus which can add a curve to the exam score. The exams were mostly memorization despite his claims otherwise. He repeated himself a lot during class but that's likely forgetfulness
Dr Adam is really funny and I enjoyed his class but if you aren't good at learning from powerpoints and remembering diagrams etc this probably isn't the professor for you. He offers lots of extra credit bonus options and the curve with the bonus was usually around 10 points. Grades are 90% tests though so be aware and study hard.
90% Test grades, 10% Homework grades. He drops the 10 lowest homeworks, and offers tons of extra credit for the tests. There's been an average of a ~15% curve on tests this semester.
Tons of assignments are due on sundays. If you miss them you cannot get late credit. Exams are worth 90% of your grade. You cannot fail exams and still pass the class.
You definitely have to come to the lecture because he does all the notes there and doesn't post them after. He has tons of extra credit stuff you should definitely do. I would also suggest going to the SI sessions from the beginning. (I'd have a better grade if I did that lol)
90% of the grades being tests is criminal. Had an A+ til I bombed a test and now I have a B. Not a bad teacher but 80 question tests are just tedious and most of them aren't multiple choice but spelling, fill in the blank, etc. Would rather take a prof with hard tests that just curves a lot.
I took him because of his good ratings on here, however, I do not recommend if you are not good at studying and putting hours into prep for the tests. I had 17 hours so I did not have the time to dedicate to studying. Your entire grade is based on the tests. Yes he gives extra credit but it only goes towards curving (10ish points). go to class
He isn't amazing but probably the best you can get. Bio 1202 probably won't be easy with any professor so you just have to deal with it. You HAVE to study the powerpoints and remember them like the back of your hand. Class is mandatory to get notes. Gives high curves, but you still have to try. Test are 90% of your grade and they're far from easy.
Dr. Adam is probably the best option for BIOL 1202. The lectures weren't mandatory, but attendance was collected for bonus points. I learned a lot in this course, but the fact that tests are 90% of the final grade didn't work in my favor because I found the third test extremely difficult. Definitely study and go to SI, and do the bonuses!!
Four tests, all in the testing center, but the final is not cumulative. Tests were difficult, but he provides outlines and picture files that you have to know. His lectures are not mandatory, but he gives bonus for going to class and going is the only way you will get notes. He is probably the best bio 1202 professor, they are all hard.
Nothing special, but the best you'll get for 1202. Gives bonus for attendance and curves all tests by a few points. Tests aren't difficult; its straight-up regurgitation of memorized info, but there is a lot of content covered on each one. He provides a lot of resources to help you do well. Final was non-cumulative in Himes.
biol 1202 is definitely not an easy class, but dr. hrincevich makes the class manageable and somewhat pleasant. he offers TONS of extra credit and really just wants the best for his students as long as they put in effort. exams are not bad as long as you memorize/understand EVERYTHING on the powerpoint slides. just study a lot for exams and do HW!
The class itself is a lot of info, but he offers curves and bonus on the exams. I passed every exam with a B because of it. Homework and quiz on Pearson for every chapter. If you study the powerpoints, you will pass the exams. Lectures are boring, but that is expected with biology. You get bonus opportunities by attending class.
His tests are NOTHING like class material. I scored very high on all homework and all quizzes and was close to failing every test. Weekly homework with A LOT of questions on mastering biology through Pearson. Lecture activity every week goes to extra credit on tests. He is easy to reach and very understanding. Kind of funny.
All tests taken at himes but hrincevich was super funny and kind and will help you. you need to memorize the slides, it's alot but you should start days in advance. i learned so much, the way he explains things is very helpful. do the homeworks and ALWAYS come to class or u wont have the notes unless u have a friend in the class. gives a lot of ec!
Dr. Hrincevich is an outstanding professor and truly cares about his students. Be prepared to put in the work the make the grade. A lot of lab courses take the fun out of the topics at hand, but Dr. Hrincevich makes a true effort to make lab fun. A lot of students forget that college labs can have hundreds of students at a time.
I went to every class and studied several hours a week studying for his tests but his tests were very complicated. Lecture was set up well and tests related to the lecture but was worded badly. He gave occasional bonus. Not terrible but definitely not the best.
Bio 1202 is going to be hard bc material load. But this class takes a lot of studying in order to do well so be prepared to STUDY. tests were like 75 questions and pretty detailed and thats all your grade depends on. If you know the slidesvery well you will do fine. he usually curved like 10 points per exam so that was nice. very memorization based
Okay, so this was way harder than needed for an online class. Your grade total is 90% of what you make on your exams and 10% of what you make on your homework. This wouldn't be terrible if each exam was not almost 100 questions. I don't know if he doesn't know how to make exams or if he doesn't like his class. HOW IS THE CLASS AVERAGE IN THE 60s???
Professor is very up is own *** and treats his non Bio major course as a Bio major course. Mandatory classes bc he refuses to upload lectures, on avg. 75 question tests in Himes, and unwilling to budge on anything. Everything in this course is useless or info you can just look up if you need. Value your time and worth and take another professor.
I loved Adam. He was super cool and always had unrelated bonus opportunities, like prisoner's dilemma questions at the end of the tests, or attendance bonus. He was very entertaining and obviously passionate about biology.
I'm not good at bio, but I have a 109/100 in the class as of now. There's a decent bit of homework, but it isn't bad, and he posts slideshows and tons of review before exams. He curves tests 10-15 points, plus extra credit assignments each week (they're easy), and I scored 112% on the last exam. They're worth most of your grade, but it isn't hard.
It's biology, so it's challenging but he curves grades. There's a lot of material when it comes to the lectures, but it's doable. He is a very oragnized professor, which made it easier to learn and understand. All homework is either due on a Sunday or Wednesday (all on mastering biology)
TAKE HIM! I need all of my professors to be like Adam. I've never dreaded going to class. He keeps the class interesting with story times and fun topics. Homework is due pretty much every Sunday. Test heavy, but he gives a lotttttt of extra credit. Never been below the 12-point curve. study review sheet and slides. get into a group me!
Hrincevich was a very nice man, but the way his class was set up made it hard to succeed. The lectures were online, but the tests were in person which was kind of tough because you were pretty much on your own. Tests were 90% of your grade and quizzes/ hmw was 10% which was also tough. He did curve every single grade by a lot, but bio is still hard
Pretty funny and cool dude. Study the notes as you get them or it can become pretty overwhelming come test time. 90% of the grade is tests but they're curved pretty hard. Gives extra credit on tests for just going to class.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!! Grades are based on 90% exams and 10% homework which makes it impossible to pass! Exams have nothing to do with lectures! All exams are 75+ questions and taken in himes! AVOID THIS CLASS IF POSSIBLE!!!
Professor Hrincevich is probably your best option for Bio 1202. The class is difficult and you have to put in effort to pass. He gives a ton of opportunities to get bonus by either just going to class or completing optional assignments on Moodle. He's a very funny person and very approachable. 90% of your grade is tests, 10% is homework.
Overall great professor! Great personality and tells stories in class. A ton of material, so start studying early. He gives bonus pts for attendance and for certain chapters. He curves every exam depending on class performance. 3 exams + final in Himes, a few quizzes (moodle) and Mastering HW + quizzes given per chapter. Final isn't cumulative!
Dr. Hrincevich is a very nice & funny guy, but I did not enjoy this class. Exams are worth 90% of your overall grade, each one consisting of about 4-5 chapters (LOTS of info/memorization) and roughly 80 questions. is a little unreasonable in my opinion. Other than the exam policy, I have no complaints. He also curves & is Accessible out of class.
Currently in the class and little heads up before everyone tells you he's the best one to take for bio - your exams are worth 90% of your grade!!! There are only 4 exams. Each exam has 80 questions over a lot of material and all in all feels a little unreasonable. Pray for my grade please!
1202 is a very hard weed out course & it's going to suck no matter who you take. Hrincevich gives lots of extra credit and is definitely the best option for this course. Tests are all based more on pp picture file than the lecture pp. So much info so its hard to know what to study. Study the pics, do the extra credit and you'll be good.
The exams are 90% of your grade so if you fail it's over. He gives a lot of extra credit but the class is kinda hard.
AWFUL PROFESSOR. UNCARING and will not listen to you. You can do a whole test that takes hours and he'll resubmit it because HE messed up the test and not even read your email you send. AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL RUN
Tests are worth 90% of the grade but gives a lot of extra credit and curves. All test material is found in lecture videos, if you watch most and pay decent attention you'll understand what will be on the test. There are pictures and diagrams that you will have to memorize because he copies and pastes them straight from the powerpoint to the test.
I love him. Tests are basically copy and paste the slides, and tests are usually a lot of chapters but it is very doable because he gives so much extra credit. Each test was curved almost 10 points if you went to class. Word of the day is for bonus
So for BIO1202 he is not that hard, however his attitude makes the class much more unpleasant. He does not care about any extenuating circumstances and makes that very clear. I very much dislike his bonus opportunities, so many of them were randomized and/or subjective, which I just found to be unfair.
He reads straight from powerpoint slides, tests are strictly memorization of 5-6 powerpoints of 40-80 slides full of info and pictures and are 90% of the grade, tests have a lot of fill in the blank, mastering bio and quiz for each chapter that doesn't do much for your grade, gives random bonus and bonus for attendance that doesn't help much.
This class is impossible to fail if YOU put in the work!!! He cares about his students and gives plenty of chances for bonus that will be applied to your exam score!
This class is not hard to pass the exams are extremely hard, but lots of bonus. Professor does NOT like if you email him regarding anything even if it is related to the class.
90% grade 4 xams in himes 10% hw lotta bonus lectures help a lot (fill in blank note slides) and gives review materials for exams esp the pictures (he puts on every exam) exams r labeling pics mult choice fill in blank w simple vocab ~70Q. Go to class he gives u points for that SI if u need it and review early he curves, noncumulative xams
Dr. Adam was not the best professor, but better than other BIOL 1202 professors. This was my second time taking his class for BIOL 1202 because I failed the first time, and the most important thing I learned was to start reviewing the "Exam (Blank) Review PICTURES" as soon as it comes out. Majority of the exams are memorizing the pictures. 4 exams.
The 4 exams are worth 90% of your grade although the final is not cumulative. He reads from the slides and doesn't really explain the concepts. The thing that pissed me off most about the exams was the fact he made us correctly spell different biology terms because "spelling is very important in biology". He is not funny.
below mid. who cares that he jokes in class he couldn't care less for the students who are struggling. replies fast to emails only to not work with you AT ALL. "tons of bonus" isn't even taken into account after tests. reads off slides in class, tests aren't an accurate cumulative measure of the material. ppl w the other bio profs aren't miserable.
BIOL 1202 is already a challenging course, but the fact that his test make up 90% of the grade doesn't help. Regardless, I enjoyed him. He hands out a lot of bonus opportunities which builds up each student's curve. He is caring and very passionate about the material he teaches. I'd take him again, but I don't know how he compares to other teachers
Make sure you know little details in the slides for the exams. If you memorize the power points, you will do well on the tests. Hw is super easy and all the tests were curved. Have to go to class for the notes and participation grade. Just have to be willing to put time into learning the concepts. I always enjoyed going to class
Most grades comes from the exams. Just focuses on the picture slides and highlighted/bolded words and phrases from the regular chapter slide. Sometimes questions are things he mentioned for like a brief second during class which seems really unfair. Homework is usually very easy. Take advantage of all optional potential bonus opportunity.
90% of grade is from 4 equally weighted exams, with 10% from all the mastering bio assignments (a couple are dropped). All exams are in Himes based on his PowerPoint. They check more your memorization of his presentation than of the actual content. Funny guy, but weighting makes it hard to get an A. Bonus is random, not based on your work.
The only way to pass this class is if you do well on the exams. He is a very nice teacher, I took the pre-nursing section so the class was a little easier for our section because he knows we do not need biology fr. I would take him again but the way to pass the exams is by memorizing the pictures on the exam review file. FINAL is not cumulative.
Be ready for 70-90 question exams. All exam material is verbatim from powerpoints . Make flashcards and memorize the exam picture files. Lectures can be painful hearing him read off of slides the entire time. First few exams were curved about 10% based on attendance. Final was curved about 5%. Why is there so much extra credit in the first place?
Probably the best professor for BIO1202. This class is hard no matter what but Hrincevich made it enjoyable. He's a cool guy and makes class interesting. MEMORIZE THE REVIEWS for exams and you will do fine. He curves 5-10% on exams. Also a non cumulative final is a major pro
Exams (4) are worth 90% of your grade, so it's critical that you take at least a full day going over the exam powerpoints he provides. Do the lecture activities. Completing those will give you bonus points on the exams. On top of that he curves the exams generously. I took this class over the summer, it was pretty quick and painless. Cool guy.
Dr. Hrincevich is a great guy but his exams are a mess. His exams are upwards of 80 questions but her curves excessily. The exams have you memorize around 120 pictures in depth, which is ridiculous. some of his test questions are from little snippets of his lectures. He's a great person but his lectures and exams are not it.
Dr Hrincevich gives tons of extra credit! His exams are way easier than the homework. He also curves really heavy. I studied a max of 3 days for each test and never scored lower than a 95. Just show up to class and its a breeze.
Hrincevich was an outstanding professor! His tests are long, but I found that everything on the test was always included in the lecture notes. The class is not hard, you just have to study to get the grade you want. He provides you with all the tools to earn an A. He offers a lot of bonus assignments and the homework is fairly easy.
I wouldn't recommend emailing him
Tests cover a lot of material at a time, so you have to start studying early for exams and learn the visuals in the power points well too. There's really no "cheat code" in this class, but you learn biology well. He is fun in his lectures and give lots of bonus opportunities too.
not understanding at all.
Dr. Hrincevich is a great professor. He lectures exactly what is going to be on exams. You have to go to class to get the notes. If you study the notes and the slides you will get an A. He makes lectures interesting too.
Was amazing I just think bio is hard
Dr. Hrincevich was one of the best professors I have had in college. He always tries to make his lectures interesting and is serious, but funny at the same time. He is always willing to help after class or whenever you need his help. He curves tests and gives lots of extra credit (word of the day in class).
He wasn't the worst professor I've ever had, but not the best. If you emailed him with a question about the coursework, he would reply quickly with a good explanation of your question, but if you had a problem with anything else he would essentially tell you "tough luck". His tests were alright if you studied but didn't really make sense
Yygghhgggggggggg
The fact that tests are worth 90% of your grade in an online class and the tests are in person is a joke. The study material provided on moodle is not a help at all. I would spend multiple days studying the powerpoint and review questions just to fail every exam. Only plus was that extra credit was given and tests were curved. Avoid this class.
He's an okay professor in general, but each test is worth 90% of your grade. Easily over 70 questions per test. Lecture is very boring and he just reads slideshows. Overall if you decide to take his class, be prepared to learn every single detail he puts on the slideshow, no matter how little it seems.
Some people seem to really like Hrincevich on here, and I hated his class. I was so bored filling in the powerpoints, and felt like he was super condescending. All the bio teachers here that aren't honors though are pretty mid so I guess he's the best of many evils? I don't recommend his class though I'd literally rather Pomarico.
Hrincevich is not that bad, it is just a lot to memorize. He gives a lot of extra credit and his PowerPoints are fill in the blank, so you kinda have to go to class. I felt like I memorized more things than understood the material.
Be sure to use every resource for tests, because it feels as though he pulls random information that was never discusses in class.
LOVE LOVE LOVE. If you use his study guide and look at crosswords for fill in the blank on exam you will be FINE. His exams are an even mix of pictures, vocab, and lecture. He is super nice and funny.
Loved him as a person, but too hard a class for non science majors. Especially at the 1000 level. Homework and quizzes were easy enough, but exams were difficult and worth a lot. Gives tons of review material, but I found that they didn't help enough when I actually got to the exam. Not good if you have no interest in science.
Attendance is bonus but notes are fill in blank so its best to go to class. Homework is long, only worth 10% of your overall grade, and doesn't really help for exams. Exams are long but not that bad, he does provide a lot of study material, curves exams, and bonus. Overall not a bad class.
Engaging professor. Exams make up 90% of your grade, but half of each test is from lecture notes and things he mentions in lecture. Attendance isn't mandatory but that's the only way you can get the lecture notes. Very cut and dry about due dates and won't extend anything. Difficult class, but the study guides are thorough.
He is a reasonable professor. He also does not open assignments after they're late for any reason so don't ask. You need to attend lectures to get a good grade in this class even though lectures are optional. If you get the opportunity to take his class for 1002 do it.
if you struggle with science do not take this course.
Hard to get used to at first, but all you have to do is study the slides and you'll make a B on the exams, he curves and gives a lot of bonus point opportunity. I did not do that in the beginning and failed my first exam and still got a C+.
Professor is available at most times but is so nit picky with work and submissions that it drives you to insanity. No lectures to go along with the material, so you basically have to teach yourself. Quiz answers are locked so you can't see what you got right or wrong. Never had this much struggle with a professor in any previous online courses.
I took this class online, and it was super easy! I was worried about understanding the material, but Dr. Adam made the material very easy to understand. I would definitely take him again!
Dr. Hrincevich is a cool guy and cares about the class he is teaching. Nothing crazy and pretty simple lectures and tests. You do have to study a decent amount if you want to do good
Every class he gives a word of the day and it is an extra credit point to then be used on your upcoming test. SO many slides to know and understand. 60-70 slides per chapter and usually 4 chapters per test. Look at the picture file he gives. No late work accepted at all. Pretty cool guy though.
The exams are 90% of your grade. There are only four which means you have to be careful with how you do on each of them. Each exam covers 4 or 5 chapters with 60-80 questions that aren't always relevant and he curve them a mere 1% or 2% and depending on whether or not he picks extra activities to apply as bonus, the bonus may be a little higher.
If you are extremely good at memorizing PowerPoints (like every slide), you can get an A in this class. Exams are 90% of the grade but the final isn't cumulative. He basically just reads off the slides in class so you have to show up to get the notes.
The class is tough and the exams cover a lot of material but if you use the resources Dr. Hrincevich provides you'll be fine. Lots of opportunities for bonus and Dr. H tells great stories- going to class is worth it.
As a person, Adam is great but his class is not. He reads straight off the slides and rarely leaves more than 5 minutes to answer questions about what we've learned in class. His emails are very dry and vague. Tests are worth 90% of your grade so if you do poorly on one you're pretty much screwed the rest of the semester.
Adam is the best biology professor! YOU HAVE TO GO TO LECTURE!! His lectures are powerpoints and blanks so you have to go to fill in the powerpoint. His test are mainly the pictures from the notes. Memorize them. He gives a lot of extra credit! Will have to study a lot but thats any biology course. He tells a lot of funny stories too!
Hrincevich wasn't a bad professor, although his powerpoints were pretty boring. Tests are 90% of your grade and are extremely difficult in comparison to other biology courses. If you miss an exam for any reason, he will not give you more than a day or two extension no matter what. If you can take another professor for 1202, I highly reccommend it.
you have to go to class if you want to do well bc that's the only way to get the notes. tests aren't hard if you have a good memory. gives sm extra credit too. not an easy A bc the material itself isn't easy but if you stay on top of the material it is possible. also the final isn't cumulative.
nah fam he aint it
Professor Hrincevich is an amazing person but I personally don't like his teaching style. He flies through notes in class, it's like you don't even have time to comprehend. The exams are extremely hard for this class, unless you're very good at biology you won't do good. He's funny and nice, but I had to drop the class.
Overall, not bad! The exams were pretty long, but if you studied, they weren't too hard. The material was fair, and the professor explained things well. If you kept up with readings and lectures, you could do well. Some questions required deeper thinking, but nothing unreasonable. Manageable with good preparation. ok class overall!
Attendance is bonus points but go to fill in the notes, he gives you so much materials to utilize for exams. Exams are still tough and you will need to study. but he actually teaches and is funny. if you are going to take anyone for bio 1202 TAKE HIM so much better than my bio 1201 class!!!
Not the best lecturer. Painful to sit through because he reads off the slides and goes on tangents, but you need to go to class to get the notes. SOOO MUCH to study for exams. Be ready to memorize 300-400 slides along with diagrams per exam. Great curves (5-10%) if you take advantage of the extra credit. This class is hard, but its not impossible.
this class is EXTREMELY test heavy. 90% of grade are 4 exams and the 10% is homework. attendance isn't mandatory but it is mandatory if you want to fill in your notes and potentially get some extra credit. as long as you study, you'll be fine. also, curves are rly nice on exams (5-10%)
Take all of the bad reviews with a grain of salt. He does read straight from the slides, and the classification chapters can be quite boring/a lot of material to study. However, if you study you will get an A. He gives lots of review materials. If you are bad at memorizing slides, memorize the entire review picture file and his outline!
Adam is great and funny. You will learn in this class; just do what everyone else in saying for this course, homework, picture file, and review. BE READY TO MEMORIZE EVERYTHING. Everyone's exam isnt the same, so not ALL the pictures and what's on the review will be on the exam. Dont just use the review guide to study because you fail. JUST TRY!
Class was hard. Lots of memorization as there could be anywhere from 40- 70 slides per chapter and each test having 4 to 5 chapters. 90 percent of your grade is test which sucks. He gives attendance bonus which is a component in his 5-10 point test curve and does random bonus through different polls and guessing games.
I really liked Adam's lectures because I could tell he was passionate about the material and really funny. His class is only weighted by tests (90%) and homework (10%). His tests are heavily memorization based and the picture file. He gives a lot of resources for his test, so if you use them then you'll do well in his class. He also curves his exam
The only way to get the notes is by going to class, even though it's not required. Lots of material, so I would study at least 2 weeks in advance. Overall pretty chill dude
such a good teacher. going to class isn't mandatory but it's extra credit if you do. his lectures are rly good and he gives a lot of help/tools for studying for his tests. great teacher i would take him again!
Adam is an absolutely amazing professor, I took him for 1202 and 1209 this past spring and summer. The 1209 class is a much better option than normal semesters, its only 10 classes and he lets out early every single time. There isn't a huge paper, instead a few discussion forums and a power point presentation. I 100% recommend taking him
Honestly a great teacher. Gives plenty of bonus questions but they're never about biology so start watching jeopardy now. Very funny, entertaining lectures, and he's very clear about what you need to know. For the final exam MAKE SURE you listen to what he's telling you you need to know. It will be on the final.
All the homework & quizzes are through Pearson MyLab. The exams are on moodle and were not proctored. There were 3 exams, and they were all 100 questions. The exams were also 90% of the grade. He also curved all the exams.
He is an awesome professor who gives a LOT of bonus opportunities for us. Homework and quizzes on mastering biology and the exams are pretty straight forward. He gives an exam study guide and a picture powerpoint of the picture based questions that will be on the exam. Overall a very good professor who wants you to do well.
Does entirely too much for non-bio majors...having to memorize every little thing for something you won't use in your degree is annoying. curves tests and gives extra credit but i wouldn't recommend if you're not a bio or science major. if you have another option, take someone else but if you don't it's not the end of the world. nice guy tho
Go to class to get bonus and notes. I would make huge quizlets and start studying a little everyday. manageable and pretty straight forward.
Dr. Adam is great. He is very engaging and entertaining in his lectures. Going to class isn't mandatory, but the only way to get the notes is by going to class. Exams are difficult and make up 90% of the grade. He gives a lot of extra credit and there are so many opportunities to bring up grades. Very accessible outside of class.
Probably the fairest teacher that I have taken at LSU. Gives you tons of bonus points for attending class, which are applied to your exams. The exams are long (75 questions), but if you do what he tells you, you will do fine on the exams. Memorize the exam picture file. Technically, the attendance isn't mandatory, but you won't get the notes.
Go to lecture and take advantage of his bonus. It definitely helps. I do think an A is easily attainable, but its still a lot of info that he gives for the exam. Focus on his picture file the most and KNOW IT COMPLETELY.
The materials he posts on moodle wont help you at all. You'd be better off reading straight from the textbook than reviewing the material he posts. The 4 exams are worth 90% of your grade, but at least he has some bonus opportunity. I would recommend taking the practice exams to see what the exam is like. Worst class I've taken by far.
cool guy! its clear hes taught the material for a long time and knows it all well. He makes the class fun. There is a lot of bonus points. this class is for good test takers- the exams are long and make up most of the grade, and much of my class struggled with them, but i thought they were fine. good curve too. i found the review material helpful
Mr. H is cool, the tests aren't hard as long as you actually go to class and he gives a ton of bonus credit. Chill bio class
DO NOT TAKE! His exams are very heavy and you literally would have to study his lectures thoroughly, even spelling. He does give a file on what to study and that's mainly what is on the exam but to me there are much better biol 1202 profs. Lot of extra credit opportunities and attendance isn't mandatory but only way to get notes.
I took this class thinking it would be easy because it was Biology for NON bio majors. Going into it I knew it was completely online and thought it would be a breeze because it's simply not meant for someone in biology. Exams are worth 90% of your grade so if you are not a good test taker do not take this class.
Loved Adam for BIOL 1202. He genuinely cares and offers lots of extra credit. Attend lecture for full notes + “Word of the Day” (big grade boost). I only studied his lecture slides + picture slides and got an A. Curves are generous, but do the bonus because it helps a ton. His exams are fair if you keep up weekly. SO much better than Gregg in 1201.
This class was ok I guess because like your grade is really based on your exams in himes, study study know the information don't memorize. Do take the pre test they are your way of seeing what's on the exam before you take the actual one and Take advantage of the extra credit he gives each week and do your mastering biol.
Dr. Hrincevich is an amazing professor. He equips students with EVERYTHING needed to pass his exams. All exam content comes straight from his PowerPoints, which you NEED to go to lectures for. His lectures are interactive and he gives bonus at the end of each lecture. He is always available to help.
