Adam replys well to emails, I'll give him that. But his class is extreamly difficulty. His lectures are full of mistakes. I missed a quiz (worth 2% of my grade and hey, life happens) and he almost took away my access to the midterm review. After emailing him, he finally granted access to the review, but didn't let me earn the 9% grade it was worth.

Worst professor I've ever had, says he's strict on due dates but then sends emails after the fact saying its okay if you haven't turned something in? Super short and rude in his emails. He teaches remedial math and acts like hes sending the next group of astronauts into space, we're just trying to get our credits and graduate!

Doesn't help you at all when you ask. This class relies on 70% exams. If you fail an exam, you fail the class. There's no way to make your grade up at all. Pointless homework that is due the same day that a lesson is assigned. Do yourself a favor a pick any other professor.

Literally the worst math professor I've ever had. The whole class revolves around watching videos and teaching yourself. When you do show up to the mandatory class time, you're put into groups and told to work on random assignments. I have never been one to be bad at math and I struggled so much. You're better off with any other professor.

Get ready to enjoy the "revolutionary flipped classroom model." What that means is that you are taking the course where you are teaching yourself with YouTube and Google and barley have 20 min. a week to ask questions in the group of 100 more people. So nice! Especially when it comes to exams.

This was the worst math teacher I have ever had. Before class he makes you read the chapter to learn the material, and class time is 95% group work which never helps since no one actually knows how to do the problems. The small amount of lecturing he actually does is not helpful. For me, this was a fully self-taught class. Tests were fine though.

Currently taking him for the Fall semester and he's the worst professor I have had here at ASU. He has an unconventional method for teaching and that is not teaching at all. Every class is just students going up and presenting and it is very easy to get lost in the class. You learn more from recitation and the tutoring center. This class is a joke.

Buddy takes graded, in person attendance for an ONLINE class that he DOES NOT teach. He was absent multiple times just this semester, but it's not like it makes a difference. I took this professor in the spring and the entire class is online and that format does not work well, you had to do notes outside of class and all you would do during class was group work which was useless. He never actual teaches us which is frustrating, our TA taught us more than he did. I would not recommend taking this class with him.

All you do is go to class for a group work grade, take notes (which you are expected to learn everything from), and take tests even though nothing was actually taught the whole year. Careful trying to miss class for any reason. I had a doctors note out sick one class day and Adam refused to give me attendance unless I showed proof while sick I worked 75+ minutes on math day of. This class sucked in my experience, everything was on ALEKS, and nothing was taught in class. In my experience, didn't seem like he cared about students. Good luck asking about anything related to grades because he does not like getting asked about it and takes it too seriously. You have to teach yourself, take the tests, and hope for the best.

Class was MWF for only 50 minutes. You have to teach yourself the lesson before class and once you get to class you're expected to know everything. He teaches very little in class and you are mainly doing groupwork in class. You have to be in class to recieve credit. No curves on the test and a lot of online homework as well.

The groups change everyday, pre-class assignments everyday, only one person is allowed to take notes, turn everything in through taking pictures. None of the pre-assignments, class assignments, or tests had anything to do with each other. He makes you take all your notes at home and when you ask questions in class he is very unhelpful. The TA for this class was more helpful and knowledgeable than he was. My final for the class is tomorrow and I have been studying for 5 days straight still teaching MYSELF how to do the math. It is mandatory to go to class to receive credit, but he sits at his computer the entire class while you literally do the ALEKS work the entire time. ALEKS is one of the worst experiences! I took this class as a math elective elective as a senior. I have taken complex engineering mathematics and mechanics, and by far, this is the hardest course I have ever taken. This course is designed to waste your time doing mastery points at high risk no reward just to look at a test review. I still managed to pass this course only taking exams.

DO NOT TAKE. This professor may be the worst professor at ASU, and the course load is extremely intense. Be prepared to spend 20-30 hours a week on this course alone.

The way the class is structured doesn't make any sense and its designed to set you up to fail. No matter how much time you spend on it, it will not be reflected in your grade.

8 hours each day completing modules that do not go toward your grade to access the homework. The coursework for MAT117 at least is completely online. That being said, He makes attendance a grade. 5% of your grade which doesn't seem like a big deal. But for a class that is 100% online and self taught, I argue that making attendance a grade is complete blasphemy. The grading system is a bit odd as your extra work won't be counted for.

I did not like how he didn't teach us at all. This class should have been just an icourse as going to class was just doing groupwork assignments that were kinda useless to me. I did get an A in discrete math but he is definitely not a professor that you would want to take. He is smart though but in my humble opinion he should not be a teacher.

Very lousy professor who rarely offers extra credit or make-ups. Even if you study, it's easy to struggle on the exams. You're expected to learn most of the material on your own as its structured as a flipped classroom, which made it frustrating.

I put in significant effort to excel in this class, going above and beyond while studying and learning discrete math. However, Adam's lack of teaching and reliance solely on slides severely hindered my understanding of the material. The other positive reviews are misleading and he truly deserves this low rating.

Professor Leighton's class was an awful way to start my time at ASU. The fact that attendance was mandatory, yet he relied fully on an online course made no sense. Prof so bad I literally took this a year ago, remembered how bad it was that I had to come write a review. Claims that reverse structure helps students learn but you would be better off taking icourse. Lack of proper material made me dread going to required in class group exercises. Combination of exercises, perusal, and hw hinders you, save GPA.

Classes two times a week? You only get two absences before you're dropped. All the homework is done online, and honestly it taught me better than he did. If I could drop his in person classes and just do the homework online it would be so much better. Waste of a class period.

Be prepared to sit at your laptop every class. He doesn't lecture at all and when you ask the TA's for help they usually aren't very helpful.

In this Math 117 Class, you will sit there and just do aleks, there us no given help unless asked certain questions about a problem, this class is not good for VISUAL learners.
