His lectures are verbal so you have to go to class and either write or type what he says. The best way to study for his class is to rewrite your notes before the exam and check his "key term" list in files to read minimally in the textbook ( search for the key terms and read about those). He offers tons of extra credit too.

Literally my favorite class this semester. Dr. Payne is knowledgable and super interesting during his lectures. You do need to go to class to do well on his tests, but he makes it worth it. Also he offers a lot of extra credit, and his tests are all 30 question multiple choice. 10/10 would recommend this class to anyone that likes geography.

I took geography with Adams. My advice? Read. Go to class. Use the study guide he gives you online and fill it out while you read before class. Then use your notes from class to finish the study guide. The stuff on the study guide thats in the book WONT be talked about in class. But mostly the tests are made up in class lecture material.

As long as you take good notes in class and use the review sheet online to study, youll do well. He also has 4 workbook assignments and 1 extra credit assignment that will really boost your grade.

I think he's a great professor, he's funny and caring. His lectures are very important to go to, that's where his test questions will come from. You need to study a lot for the map quizzes and his tests, if you think you can wing it then you'll do poorly. However, if you takes good notes and be sure to study, it's not too bad.

I actually dont go to this school. But I took him at the university of Central Oklahoma my freshman year when he was an adjunct there. I was a molecular biology major, and am now switching to geography because of how much I enjoyed him and his class. When I realized he was gone and I wouldnt be able to take any classes of his I was super bummed.

Do not go into this class thinking it will be easy. There is a reason he offers so many bonus points. The test are quite difficult and focus on small specifics instead of overall concepts. The power points are useless and mostly pictures so take good notes of what he is saying. Once you figure out the pattern of the class it gets much easier.

I took this class online, and while I would have preferred the lectures be in person, I appreciated that the lectures were engaging and very interesting. He was passionate what he was teaching and he had a few review sessions that really helped me. You need to watch the lectures and take good notes, but if you work for it you can make an A.

Dr. Payne is awesome. I took his global class as an asynchronous online class. The recorded lectures were funny and the other videos had some really cool stuff. He was always available to meet and talk about whatever questions I had. If you need a geography credit, take Payne (its painless).

How can not you not pass this class? If you go and talk to him and the rest of the class every Friday, you get a note card for the test and a word bank for the map quizzes. Oh, and you get extra points on the quiz. If you cant pass than you shouldnt be in college. He is also super helpful if you go to his office hours or make an appointment

Dr. Payne has been one of my FAVORITE professors here at Auburn. He made geography incredibly interesting as he has a great sense of humor! When I took him, his class was asynchronous so def make sure you dont procrastinate. Other than that hes a 12/10 professor who I HIGHLY recommend.

Probably one of my favorite professors I have had while at Auburn. If you do not go to class you will not make a good grade because it is lecture style with notes. I thought this class was gonna be a lot easier honestly. It's supposed to be geography, not history, economics, politics, religion, and social studies. One of his TA's was a really tough grader and I thought the projects were dumb. He does give a ton of extra credit though and says if he knows you and you put forth effort he'll boost your grade.

He does publish all PowerPoint but they only have topic words on them so you do have to be in class. He hates the textbook that is assigned to the course and only assigns four total assignments.

Dr. Payne is one of the best professors that I have had. Attendance is optional, but needed to earn the participation credit that he offers. Overall I think his class was pretty easy. I made quizlets based on his study guides every time and made high Bs and As on all the exams. He did assign a project where you had to make your own country. It took a bit of work but it wasn't terrible.

I am terrible at geography but Payne made it fun and logical. If he can include a film reference he will and he makes more dad jokes than I could keep up with. He is a tough grader but it is VERY possible to get A's on every assignment. He wont remind you about assignments until a few days out so make sure to have that stuff on your calendars

As someone who struggles to follow strictly vocal lectures, he is so easy to understand and follow along with during his lectures. He says all of the information in class and does not post his slides, but the slides dont have much anyways, so do NOT miss class. Great professor!

Overall, Dr. Payne was a good professor. He is very funny and entertaining, but his lectures are heavy, and you won't pass if you don't go to class. Be ready for weekly quizzes or exams, and also a project where you create your own country, which was due on the same day as an exam and was very in-depth and heavily graded.
