Gorgeous.
wow, an amazing professor. i looked forward to going to his class everyday. he is so helpful and so NICE, and just an all around great teacher. i learned so much. oh yeah, he's also HOT.
He is VERY helpful. All you have to do is try and you will get a good grade. Hes more cute than hot but hes married!!!
It was hard to concentrate when in his class. He's THAT cute.....but, I think he hated me and isn't giving me good grades.
Very nice and helpfull. Made me want to go to class everyday. Definately recommended!!!!!
I can say how Prof. Penna is a great teacher and an even better person but all he really cares about is the chili pepper next to his name ;). Potental Penna students bewared, if you are open-minded this man with change your life for the better.
excellent professor, one of those classes where u are seated in a circle and discuss stuff.
hes extremely hot especially when he starts reciting poetry. an eternity of his poetry would not be enough
Prof. Penna is great. ok he is really cute too but seriously dont let that throw you off. he is extremely intelligent and what an english professor should be. he gets you thinking in ways you never dreamed of. Very eye opening-changed my life for the better. dont miss and oportunity to take his clas
awesome man. he's insightful and articulate. a few essays were assigned, but he grades more than fairly. basically, he strives to establish a comfortable teaching environment, where people are open and communicative with each other... take him with an open mind and fearless heart.
good teacher.
Penna was a new professor who is very easy and actually cares about his work
Excellent Professor. Insightful!
He is a wonderful teacher, and he really feels very compassionate about what he does. He lets you write from your own perspective and feelings, so the class is much more enjoyable
I loved this teacher. He looks like that actor from the movie center stage. He made the class very interesting. There are no tests, just writting assignments such as poems, & short stories. Pretty simple.
This guy is the best teacher I've ever had. Makes his classes very interesting and an easy grader as long as you show him your interested.Made me so interested in his classes that I am considering a career as a writer.
simply scrumptious
Loved this guy! Great class! VERY HOTT.. reminds me of Taylor Hanson in 25 years.
he is an amazing man and a wonderful teacher. take him.
I wasn't looking forward to having to take anpther english class but he made it very interesting. It was also very easy, we only wrote maybe three papers and had two little quizs!!
First off, this guy was the best professor I've ever had. He made this class very interesting. I've also had him for a few of my other english classes. The assignments are graded on how much work you put into it. Very fair and creative. If you're neverous and worried about english, take him he's easy to talk to if you have problems.
My favorite professor. Join society of writers, he runs it. Awesome teacher, actually teaches you, gets you to write better. The most plesant experience I ever had in a classroom. A class that I looked forward to going to. He's nice as hell, understanding, and you literally won't mind doing the work. Great. IF YOU AREN'T STUPID, TAKE HIM.
1st off-the guy thinks it's a writing class. And he goes on and on about reflective letters. If you like to write and have the time - take his class. He does not take it any easier on night students & never lets you leave early. Not a big fan of him, but he is passionate & knowledgable.
I did do alot of writing for this class, but he makes it worth it and fun to do, there really isn't any direction he wont allow you to go in. His negative capability is through the roof. Very intellegent guy knows how to make others think. Best english professor/teacher i've had, I've contimplating even going into writing because of him.
This guy is awesome. He sometimes goes off topic but you just can't help but listen. Take his class
Best professor I have ever had. Changed my life.
Best Professor eva!!! take his class. Even if you cant write he helps you and makes you want to write. Fun and Very helpful!!!
Prof Penna is by far the best professor I've had at Suffolk and is without a doubt the best english teacher I have ever had in my entire schooling career. He is a very easy grader and basically lets you pick the topics you want to write about, no strict guidelines or anything. I would definetly recommend taking his class.
Prof. Penna was one of THE BEST profs I've had for english/creative writing. He really lets you write what you want, but he's always there with suggestions. He's a poet, so poetic images and symbolism go a long way with him. He's very nice, and when a discussion gets going, you'll find he's very funny. Challenging, but not hard at all.
eh, hes a good grader but i had 3 absences cus i had mono and he was mean
I've taken Penna a while ago, all of these comments are obviously from girls. He is actually a good teacher and has been worth every cent of my time. Taylor Hanson in 25 years isn't that good of a look either
Absolutely loved this teacher! We sat in a circle and got to basically speak our minds and debate everyday.Every short story he picked is incredible and this teacher actually got me to understand and appreciate poetry. He is really passionate and knowledgable. Pay attention in class and participate, you will get a good grade. He is also mucho calient
This teacher is the best. Class was so interesting, I never minded going to class. He is great and very helpful. Loved the class.
I love him and wish I could marry him if it wouldn't be illegal. Gr8 Professor. Amen
Very passionate about what he does. Makes you really look into each essay you write and read. I really loved him. I definetly recommend him because he is extremely helpful and only wants you to grow as a writer and reader. I would take him again in a heart beat. Plus, he is pretty funny.
Easily the best professor I've had yet at SCCC. He's a great, funny guy who really connects with his students. If you have the chance to be in a class of his, do it.
This guy is the man. Good sense of humor, elaborates thoroughly on important topics and answers for students' questions, and reviews before tests. He's also one of those teachers who has his students sit in a large circle rather than rows, so everyone gets the same attention (whether they like it or not).
passionate, relates well, very encouraging, manageable course.not one bad thing to say. makes really funny comments! he truly knows what he is doing. get this one if you can!
Truly an amazing professor; it was honestly a pleasure to be in his company and even to do his assignments.Penna is a Humane and intellectual person.
This teacher is very passionate about what he does but the stories he picked were dull and for me reading over a play in class that i already read at home is very boring. The essays he assigns are easy but if you don't write what he wants, you wont get an "A" even though he wants you to have "creativity". It seemed like he picked favorites. B+
Professor Penna is most fair, he is interesting and passionate about literature. I took his online Shakespeare course, and felt like I was part of a F2F classroom setting. My only regret is not having him on campus. He is truly one of SCCC's gems.
Took his online Shakespeare course - excellent. Great professor, super helpful, passionate, clear about what he wants. Highly recommend taking his classes - he will help you, just wants you to do well.
Prof Penna is a really nice guy. If you pay attention in his class, participate when asked and do your best on this assignments, you'll get an A. I like how he made an effort to meet with us before handing in any major papers. Excellent Professor.
As an incomer freshman, i couldn't have had anyone better than Penna. He was very nice and intelligent. He was a pleasure to listen to. His weekly assignments were fun to write and there were no tests. Definitely take him.
While appearing to be nice and approachable, Professor Penna does not aid students when they are truly in need. I have seen many times that when an assignment is marked wrong and the student inquires as to why, he simply replies in a short way such as "It's just wrong." or "Even if you fixed that little mistake, this would still get an F.".
He is very hard headed. What ever he says goes. And if you don't think the way he does you wont pass. I heard he is a good teacher in other classes but not Lit. I do NOT recommend him for anyone.
Prior to taking this class, the last English teacher I had was terrible, but since this class, Mr. Penna has taken the position in my mind as the least helpful and most critical English teacher who is nearly impossible to please.
The Guy acts like he is concerned with your problem and wants to know what is wrong. Until you actually have a problem then he will tell you its "not my problem". He does a lot of pointless group activities and meaningless lectures. He also grades pretty unfairly because if it doesn't fit his opinion then its wrong.
Adam Penna is an Amazing professor. His words are genuine and his passion, for the works we read in class, flows smoothly from his instruction. He is very charismatic.
He is good. The only thing is his opinion is the one you need to follow. Which is kind of not right for creative writing but he's nice and I got a B+. So not that bad. Oh wait I forgot to mention you read more in the class than you write. So yea
hes arrogent!!! imean ima male i got a C+. i handed in all my work. hes a hard grader.im not saying this is a hard class but hes not for everyone. i would take him again for the simple fact it aint THAT hard of a class to pass..
Prof. Penna an amazing professor! He is extremely passionate about what does.Very helpful! If you show up, pay attention, participate, and do your assignments there's no reason you won't do well! I loved him!
I had Professor Penna for Creative Writing and I absolutely loved the class. Very passionate about what he does and he really does care about how you're doing if you put in the effort to try. One of my favorite professors so far, definitely recommend
I took him for advanced writing, we wrote 3-4 papers, took little quizes and had to a little reading every other night. he was very, very nice. easy class. deff recommend him!!
Intelligent and considerate. A very helpful and passionate professor. He lets you be creative with your essays, and you actually decide how long you want it. Def recommend this professor! Nothing short of amazing!
At first I hated him because he was rude about my first paper, but he let me re-do it and gave me a B. He's helpful and a very nice grader when it comes to papers.
I had him for advanced expository writing - he was very, very helpful. easy class, easy A! .. we did 3 papers, and little quizes. no big tests and the quizes were 3 questions. very easy, deff recomend him!
Professor Penna's pretentious and hippie attitude was too much for me. It is true that his class was very easy considering he lets you re-do your essays. When it comes to personality he acts quite unprofessionally. If you want an easy A and can deal with someone like this, go for it.
I took him for Advanced writing and normally writing isn't difficult for me but he made it hard. The quizes were short but not easy at all. He makes you read several philosophical passages and it just all becomes to confusing. The quizes killed my average for the semester. It was just annoying to learn about philosophy in a writing class.
He's awesome! I took him for an online creative writing course. I only needed it quick before graduation hoping to not have to do much and get an easy A, but I was wrong he is very hard and makes you work a lot! but its so worth it I learned more from him then any other professor at Suffolk!! TAKE HIM he will make you smarter :)
Honestly, he doesn't like helping people. He tries to act like he cares but he really doesn't. He will often times shoot you down if you're having trouble. He is definately pretentious and expects you to understand his crappy philosophy. I only recommend this teacher to those who are bright and talkative. This class is all talking. Don't be late
Only take this course if you're really interested in Shakespeare and know a lot of his works. Prof. Penna does not like to explain things so if you don't understand what's going on, you're pretty much a lost cause. An hour is spent every class listening to Penna's voice. He hates letting other people speak and thinks his opinion is always best.
He is a great Professor and is willing to help you if you ask for help. He likes to use the discussion board on the D2L to allow students to review what topics they talked about in class to help them with their essays. I would reccommend this professor.
I had him for creative writing. Makes you read your work outloud everyday and makes the class talk about your work outloud without you being aloud to comment. Asks the class whats good and bad about your work. Very embarrassing. We never don't have homework.
Loved Effective Thinking with Penna! He is the man! Great class, really in-depth discussions. He goes off on tangents (I like that, but ik others don't) but they always add to the topic. Hard grader, but if you put in the effort, A's will come. Highly recommend!

If you don't like to participate and you're looking for an easy class to take he is not the teacher for that. He calls everyone out in the middle of class. He was one of the most difficult teachers I've ever had, very hard to understand and barely explains his assignments and his assignments are difficult. I do not recommend this professor at all.
Only take a course he is teaching if you have a clear understanding of literature. Very hard to understand and barely explains his assignments and his assignments are difficult. Found him condescending. Teaches as if all students are at mastery level.I do not recommend this professor at all.
Prof. Penna is very knowledgeable. He's also very laid back. He is veryyy condescending though. His assignments are kind of confusing and he does not explain them well. When you ask him a question he makes you feel very stupid. He doesn't give too many assignments but it is a lot of reading and writing as expected because it is an english course.
I took his class online because of my work schedual, thinking I could be able to get it done by going on every now and again. Boy was I wrong he basically wants you on it every day of the week. Smh.
Worse professor I've ever had at suffolk, avoid this class if you can.
As my first college professor I loved him! At first he comes off a bit careless but he's actually very smart and loves what he does. If you just pay attention and actually listen and take his advice, you will no doubt do good in the class! I can see some people being too sensitive for him though. A few quizzes and 4 essays and some reading required

I took him for 3 classes:the art of poetry/creative writing/advanced poetry. Received an A in all 3. But there is really only 1 reason to take him- his hair. His hair is fantastic. It moves like it is underwater. There really is nothing else to say. Thanks for everything AP. You've changed the trajectory of my future.
This class wasnt kind to me. Hes a passionate teacher, but not sympathetic. Lessons/assignments not always clear. I was involuntarily hospitalized mid-semester. Upon returning, he told me i could submit my final assignment and fail, or drop the course. I felt crushed and patronized. When I explained my situation, he said it was no excuse.
Ive never been more inspired or motivated by a teacher like I was in his class. He comes off strong because he holds you to a college level standard. He doesnt tolerate slackers and you wont get an easy A hear. If you listen to what he says youll realize hes trying to give you more to leave with than just a letter grade.
the greatest teacher of any kind I have ever had in an educational institution. His grading scale is tough but the standard is achievable. He truly understands the material he lectures on and tries to give you something much more profound than a letter grade. his sense of humor is exceptional and his depth of self awareness is inspiring.
One of, if not, the best English professor I ever had. I took ENG102 with him in the fall and will be looking into taking another English class with him again.
One of the most challenging teachers you could take. Hes passionate but doesnt play around when it comes to assignments. Definitely not an easy teacher to deal with but good if you actually want to learn and challenge yourself.
This professor is passionate about literature and poetry, though he can come off kind of pretentious. Class was interesting, but the work was not always clear. One on one conference with him for your final project, and everyone was nervous because they weren't positive on the instructions. He makes you think though, and gives detailed feedback.
He is the best professor I have ever had. I am taking him for Creative Writing. He has great lectures and is very nice. Although corona affected our one-on-one conferences, we managed to have 1.
I took Penna not once but twice. He really changed how I am as a writer. English was always a weak subject for me and I disliked it very much. I learned to love to write again and trust myself as a writer. My mom passed away while I was in his ENG101 class and just his care alone would make me take him 1000x over again. You are the best Penna!
Professor Penna, hands down has to be one of my favorite proessors ever! His class is always interesting and engaging. I would highly reccomend This class with Professor Penna.
This Professor is very down to Earth and genuinely cares about the learning process. He doesn't focus on guidelines or word counts, but focuses on if you're absorbing the material. Barely assigned homework assignments and the final project was very doable. He knows how to relate what we are learning to real life experiences and keeps it interesting
Bit of a tough grader, lots of work but very reasonable.
Interesting and fun class. A lot of reading and analyzing said reading. The few homework assignments were questions to make sure you did the reading and written answers to go in-depth. Doesn't give page requirements on papers. Participation is key! Gives a lot of reading homework, but you can get away with skimming - I don't recommend it though.
Prof. Penna is great. He's clearly passionate about his work and is very funny. His humor is crude and blunt, but he's very kind to his students. If you are a strong writer, you'll be fine. He's accessible outside of class and is typically very upbeat. Participate, ask questions, converse with him, and you'll be fine.
i took him for intro to literature he is very understanding and his class is super easy i highly recomend taking his class you won't be sorry.
He's a passionate teacher but not sympathetic. Lessons and assignments not clear he's a very harsh grader, and only wants you to think outside of the box
You read short stories, plays and poems. He's very hilarious. Writing is the path I want to go down and he taught me the ropes of being a good writer. There was a few things that I didn't get, after all I write a novel and don't do the show and tell but I feel like that's good for a play, the more visual aspect of learning. Good professor overall!
I had him for creative writing. How this class goes down is that he shows us short stories and we notice what we notice about them and there are three reflection. What is a short story?Pt I, II, III. He is very smart and he knows what he is doing. For the reflections, talk about your experience with short stories and slowly build it up.
This professor is extremely laid-back, helpful, and caring. He breaks down what we need to know super well, but before that he does he gives his students time to see what they think/come up with on their own. He teaches you how to think for yourself along with literature. Excellent person, I would take him 1,000 times.
Engaging professor who makes writing fun. Tough grader but reasonable. Unstuck study was a lifesaver for writing practice.
Fantastic to listen to, and to talk with. He gave great feedback to my work this semester and was very understanding when things came up.
